Review Better Burger - Auckland Central

Enjoyed this better burger when I was in NZ, I liked their ideals, including composting and that they cut their own fries there and then, it’s quite impressive, and how different they are to your typical fast food place. Food was great, you can customise your burger, I added a mushroom patty to it, the fries were delicious, not a long wait to get my order.

It is our second time trying burgers at this place. They have a very similar taste to mcdonalds, maybe they have a secret strategy, haha, to make it taste the same but feel less guilty 😆 fries are much better though

Cheese burger was good. Free small chips using Neish app for student discount. So basically you only pay for the burger. Loved the burger. French fried/chips are bit on the oily side and salty. I wish they had given oil soaking paper wrapped around the chips. Ambience is good. French fries are filling and crisp from outside and soft from inside. They make it fresh with skin.

This place is a solid point in spot for burgers, chips and a shake. The place gets pretty packed around lunchtime, so your best bet is to order takeaway. I order the mushroom burger. I loved the coating around the mushroom. But the burger itself lacked flavour. It needed more seasoning. And trying the grab additional tomato sauce was a mission. The bottle was empty and covered in dried up sauce. My major fault is the waiting time. The queue is long, the food takes even longer to arrive. We arrived around 1pm and waited in the line for 15mins and had to wait an extra 20mins for our burger. The table we sat at never got cleared. Basically all the tables had a pile at the end which kept on growing. The food is decent and there's something for everyone at a good price. So I would recommend the Vulcan Lane branch.

Burger meal was yummy, staff were a little "casual" and toilets were dirty and no hand towels. Staff could've checked while they were on computer/phones.

One of the better burgers in town. Just as quick as a regular fast food place but for a little extra the quality is vastly improved. Tasty burgers. I usually add an extra patty which makes it even better in my opinion. Chips are also tasty, plus you can tell they are just potatoes which is a comfort. Would definitely recommend.

First time yesterday and I liked it! Chip texture is so nice and the burger is simple but really good because it's not super dressed up. It takes a few minutes but it's worth knowing it's made fresh! Will be back soon :)

Good burgers for the money. Especially enjoyed the shake. I wouldn't say it is the best burger you can have. But it is one of the best value you are going to get. Bang-for-buck this is one of the best places for a burger in Auckland. Great for a late night feed.

Had the chicken burger , surprised with the taste. Liked them alot. Would have given then 5 starts of only there fries were not too oily.

Delicious delicious delicious is all I can say. The burgers are sooo good, live the lettuce and the onion ring. Sure they pickle the onion which makes it so yum. OH my word the fries....amazing real fries finally. They good and crispy and real potatoes not the frozen chips you get everywhere. I could be wrong but they were still good.

Been here a couple times and it's always damn good. If you feel like a burger this is the burger place to go!!! cute little burger place to eat at with friendly staff and good food always a good time here. Burgers are a good size as usually burgers are way too big for me and fries always fresh and salty and yummy. x

Ordered the double cheeseburger animal style with the epic fries. Better burger usually doesn't disappoint although this time I felt it wasn't quite the same. The beef was a little dry and overcooked, the pickles honestly just tasted bad - kind of like an "off" rancid taste almost. The bottom bun was soggy (although probably just related to me not eating it immediately). The caramelised onions were just kinda burnt instead of properly caramelised (which is fair enough as they take can take an hour to properly do). The special sauce in combination with the extra sour pickles and mustard just made for a super overwhelming acidic flavour which I was surprised by as I'm usually a fan of their sauce. Perhaps next time I'd go for just the regular style? The fries were decent, nothing too special, had the same problem as the sauce combination of the burger though although again, this might just be a "me" problem Every other experience here has been fantastic though so I'd definitely give them another chance.

Burger was great! However we waited for a while for the other serving of fries and when we asked they seemed to have forgotten about it.

A vege burger with a crumbed portobello mushroom for the patty... yes please! Burger prices in Auckland have skyrocketed with many places charging at least $15 + for the burger alone so to be able to get a burger, fries and drink for less than this is a deal. The burgers are simple but tasty and the fries are great too. Gotta love a fry with skin on.

A small branch in Vulcan Lane, there are seats outside too but sometimes there are just too many people. Really enjoy their double cheese burger and fries. Service was good.

9pm. Still in the office. The day is grim. A great burger is your only solace. Thank heavens better burger is open. Double cheesebuger and epic fries is all you need to power through. Usually get the double cheeseburger with a fried portebello mushroom when I'm feeling indulgent!

You can’t go past a Better Burger burger. They’re simple and unassuming, nothing flashy, but all the better for it. Their fries are bloody amazing too. Always a go-to anytime I’m in Auckland.

Really overrated. The epic fries didn’t taste nice at all and the burger was average I think I would have been better off at McDonald’s. Didn’t enjoy at all

Went here for a quick burger snack the staff were very friendly and the food was very delicious, the patty was piping hot which was good with the freshness of the lettuce, pickle and tomato and the sauce just topped it off. This is a good place to go if your looking for a good well made burger that’s a bit more pricey than your normal fast food joints

Been here a few times, always enjoyed my meals here. Personally feel they have tasty burgers and usually im not much of a fan. Their menu might be minimum but they have the best fries and drinks here to enjoy a basic burger with. The ambience is a cute basic little run in. The The run in is just off queens street and is usually quite busy but still a fan here. Would come back if I was in the area and was feeling in the burger mood.

Overhyped and always so busy. Personally I think they should have more variety on their menu- chicken burgers, veggie burgers etc. The vulcan lane one is too small and doesn't have much seating available. Not somewhere I would ever go back too.

Now this is a burger for value, giving American burger takeout vibes. Simple yet effective, good quality ingredients and so yum! The chips are also amazing and so crunchy goodness!

Honestly, a little overrated. 😕 the beef patty was kinda dry to be honest and would rather go to good ol’ McDonald’s. At least I trust their loyal consumers. Haven’t tried their milkshakes though, my friends said they were great. 👍🏻

Been coming to this chain for the past few years and was my go-to for cheap eats. However, I noticed that have recently increased their prices. My favourite from the menu, the cheeseburger, still tastes great and always has a juicy patty. Students also have a good deal and can save $4 and get free fries with the Niesh app.<br/><br/>Service was not particularly enthusiastic or friendly, and the music was way too loud, so would much rather prefer the one on Galway Street.

This is my husband's favorite burger shop. Double cheese burger is really delicious！ beef patties are juicy and tender, bread is soft and have a lot of cheese in burger. Chips are fresh made too, not the frozen chips.

This place is a total Vibe!!! My sis and I enjoyed ourselves here, cool environment with good food. Cool music and would come back here to hang out again. We ordered Double cheeseburger which was bomb! And the fried and chocolate shake were so good aswell! I would defs go back there 😍😍

Classic burger joint-ordered the cheeseburger burger with added crumbed mushroom. Mushroom was crisp and the classic lettuce and tomato added moist flavor and sweetness to the burger. The patty was not as moist and slightly dry, also thinner than I had expected. The mushroom was slightly small and the flavor and texture got a bit lost as I carried on eating. The fries (especially the ones with more skin than potato) were extremely crisp and satisfying, however most of them were a tad cold. Overall still a delicious quick bite which had me feeling satisfied!<br/>8/10

The chairs inside were very skinny. It felt like i was gonna fall off any second. The fries were crispy and flavourful and the burger was juicy. I liked the way that the burger was wrapped as it kept my hands clean. I just wish the burger was a bit warmer. Was satisfied with my meal.

I visited here 3 mins before opening hours on Saturday 5th Jan and was looking at the trading hours says on the window. I didn’t even enter the premises but the girl yelled and said they not opened yet. After 5 mins from opening hours they still didn’t open and the girl said come back 15 mins later rudely.

The burgers were very average and then place was being run by children. It was an extremely long wait the chicken and chip were both burnt.. maybe be okay... must’ve just been a busy Friday

As a person who doesn't eat beef, I can't give a great opinion on their burger range, but I can definitely say their mushroom burgers are literally the best thing ever if you're craving greasy foods on the go! The only downside about it is that it's slightly expensive compared to the cheeseburgers, but still worth a try! The fries are also on the side of being more dry so best to have a drink with you, and the waiting time for your meals can get slightly ridiculous but then again, they are quite popular... Please bring out new stuff soon!

Their burgers are hit and miss and so is their customer service. The trainee staff who took my order today was not fully trained and took ages to get the correct order and then forgot my drink. This would have been fine if he had been at least apologetic. Not only was he ill trained, it was obvious he would rather be somewhere else. I wouldnt be rushing back in from my experience today.

absolutely love the epic fries from here because of their amazing combo of cheese, onions and special sauce . The burger was standard cooked perfect, juicy and just so fulfilling. One thing I didn't like was that the patties were really small like it was difficult to see a patty under all that lettuce and bun. Location is pretty sweet as well, not much of a detour from queen street, centrally located.

very yum. Not bad for the price. Food is slightly greasy but is good for curbing your cravings. Didn't really fill me up but overall is pretty decent as a fast food fix.

I got cheeseburger with superstar which is battered, deep-fried mushroom patty. The burger was yum, especially the mushroom patty which was crispy on the outside but juicy inside. Definitely worth a try.

I like how they’ve recently changed their fries! Big ups. Their burger also changed not in the best way, I remember their burgers being buttery and juicy and now they’re borderline dry. Might come maybe at the end of the year to see if they’ve improved. Somewhat let down 😭

I’ve always been a big better burger fan and my partner and I were looking forward to visiting. We understand the price increase with rising food/wage costs but were disappointed by the size of our burgers which contained a small mushroom and a smaller bun than usual. Staff member who<br/>Served us wasn’t very friendly either. We’ll be back for another go but hoping the size isn’t the new norm!

Love their burgers. Delicious and tasty! The Cheese burger is my absolute favorite and love their potato fries. Great service, friendly staff and fast service too. Only drawback is the limited seating space available. Although the meal is worth the price.

First time at Better Burger and I ordered the mushroom burger. Very flavoursome and fresh! From a design perspective: the minimal menu was a nice change and suited the simple interior. Great branding/packaging too #auckland #burger

Better Burger never fails to deliver. I've been here countless times, and their burgers are priced very reasonably. Service is usually quite quick, don't have to wait terribly long for my food. Comes out well-made, and I have yet to find any real flaws in my meal. Every time I've been here, even at the Sylvia Park branch, the food is consistently good, and has become a go-to.<br/><br/>There's a good reason I keep coming back here, and this is it.

Always love the Mushroom Burger and Fries from Better Burger. With satisfaction every time been there, friendly stuff and delicious burger, except this time. Went there on Friday, ordered Mushroom Burger, I didn’t taste any mushroom after a few bites. I opened up the bun, to my surprise, the mushroom was like less then half size of the precious ones that I had. I approached to the stuff, and been told that they just use what supplier send to them. Very disappointed!!!

For what it is, this place is quite decent. It's basically one notch up from your mainstream fast food chains, but it is still fast food. The good thing is that it is also priced as such, so a reasonably affordable burger.

The decor and space is quite nice...However it was pretty average. <br/><br/>The price for a burger is around the same as burger fuel (smaller burgers) and Carl's Jr. However it's not as tasty or big. I don't think I could get full off just the burger. <br/><br/>The fries were actually really nice though,so I would go back for those.<br/><br/>The shake was quite thick and very very sweet/artificial so personally I wasn't a fan of it.

The mushroom burger is the best burger if your vegetarian or not and you can ask for epic fries which is better burgers version of loaded fries that consists of burger sauce, mustard, cheese and grilled onion soo good only problem is it is soo filling 😍😂

Why did you do it better burger?<br/><br/>I had been going to better burger regularly for the past few months on a Sunday as an end of week treat.  $5 a burger, how can you go wrong and around the corner from my work made it perfect.  Couldn't understand why anyone would then spend $5 on chips and $5 on a shake.  But I guess Better Burger have now cottoned onto the fact that their pricing has been wrong.  In order to remedy it they have now up'd the price of their burgers. So you will still receive the piddly amount of chips for $5 and a less than satisfying milkshake for $5 but have to pay more for their burgers.  Funny thing is, its the start of summer.  Tomatoes and what not will be coming DOWN in price during summer.<br/><br/>This is a step in the wrong direction better burger and bad timing.  <br/><br/>Off to Wendy's I go from now on for my Sunday treat for $5 burgers, fries, milkshake, and ice-cream all for the whopping low price of ONLY $5.<br/><br/>Keep it real, keep it $5.

The strawberry milkshake was thick and creamy, got real strawberries in them. Had a hard time putting in the straw, the lid was just too tight. The vanilla milkshake was full of vanilla flavour. Chocolate milkshake was sold out however. The shop was full of flies, so we didn't stay for long.

Went in here today around 3:30-345PM<br/>Generally I enjoy going to better burger because of the good service and burgers but my visit today was a very frustrating one. There weren't many customers inside maybe five or six people I walked in said hi to the cashier lady but wasn't given a response for a minute. Very rude, once I ordered my meal of one cheeseburger & one double cheeseburger the lady serving me didn't care to ask whether we wanted to eat here or takeaway, she didn't even give the receipt/ order number so when the food came I had to ask if it was mine. She was very dismissive and unfriendly. Seems like a new worker not sure as to how long she's been working there but she doesn't possess much customer service skills. Overall made my experience very unpleasant. Food was standard better burger standard. But service and attitude from the lady was terrible. Very disappointed

Not your usual fast food place and worth a visit if you haven't done so! Only option for a person that doesn't eat beef or pork was the mushroom burger and being a big fan of mushrooms I wasn't let down! Great place to go to if you're feeling like a burger + thicc fries :) not your usual McDonalds or Burger King burger

This used to be a better burger but based on my last couple of visits, things have started to slip. I visited today (Sunday) and despite the place being not very busy, it seemed the staff couldn't keep up. While I was waiting for my order two customers returned theirs: one was given a beef burger instead of a mushroom burger and the other said her bun hadn't been toasted. Rather than just dealing with it, the chef got defensive and accusatory, using bad language in full earshot of the customers. Way to make the diner feel uncomfortable. That should have been a warning but I'd already ordered. My food came quickly, suspiciously quickly. The sign above the till says 'Your fries were a potato 10 minutes ago' but my fries must have been cooked an hour ago as they were limp, greasy and cold. My cheese burger lacked one crucial ingredient: the cheese! At least I wasn't served the other customer's mushroom burger...C'mon Better Burger: where is the quality control? Where is the manager to make sure customers are getting what they paid for. Seriously, this was just rubbish and the saddest part about it was that you just don't seem to care. If you did, you would have a supervisor on duty but instead you seem happy to have two minimum wage/minimum care workers serving poor quality food. At least McD's and BK are consistent in their inadequacy.

We ordered a cheese burger and a mushroom burger. The cheese burger didn't stun to me. But a piece of fried mushroom in burger made me think of fried king oyster mushroom I ate in Taiwan. It's pretty juicy.

I love this place. The food is cheap but always good, you know what you are getting. The simple menu is great for an indecisive person like me. Whatever burger you choose, you will not be disappointed.

I love better burger! It's a simple menu but that's what makes it amazing! The milkshakes are actually the best I've ever had (I always get the chocolate one). Always love coming back to any of the three locations in Auckland!

The place was unclean and smelly. They've put the wrong name in my order. I've waited for 20 minutes and after that, they didn't even say sorry for their mistake.

I went to Better Burger yesterday! I ordered the double cheese Burger, combo, with a vanilla shake. My brother ordered the same, but with a chocolate shake. The wait time wasn't bad, it was done really quickly! Which is good because the place has a bad atmosphere, so you wouldn't want to wait around too long there. It was sad to see that even though on the receipt my brother ordered a chocolate shake, but was given a strawberry one. She then questioned him; and said "are you sure it wasn't your mistake?". I understand customers do make mistakes, but even the receipt sad Chocolate! She did end up giving him what he ordered and for the most part the shakes are amazing! I personally love a thick shake; and Better Burger do not disappoint! I would return just for the shakes! <br/><br/>As for the food, the fries are about 1/4 inch, or 1/3 inch thick. They appear to be hand cut, and I appreciate that! They are seasoned well, and are quite crisp! The burger has a single slice of lettuce, tomato, and a few slices of red onion. One single piece of iceberg isn't the best. The onion and tomato, even though are minimal, it's just enough. One thing that isn't acceptable is the lack of sauce. One single sauce (burger sauce) on what appeared to be on only the bottom bun. The meat is thin, but has some good flavour. Fir the price of $7 it's a pretty good burger; but in comparison to their competitors they are a little behind in terms of quality.<br/><br/>Service: 1/5 <br/>(when me and my brother come in together and sit together, surely we are eating together. She asked for boy our names, I understand that, but we are together! Surely it's not that important. With only one other couple eating here, and they were already eating, surely she can remember one order! To then ask "do you want to eat here or talk away?" After he has already said we are eating here, it kind of annoyed me. I know this may sound over the top, but it's like she wasn't being genuine at all, and was just reading a script, it made for a very unnatural, and unsavoury environment. Along with screwing up our order WHEN WE ARE THE ONLY ORDER THERE! <br/><br/>Food and drinks (according to value) 4/5<br/>Burger was alright, nothing great. Super chill place, simple look with simple burgers done so well. Everything tastes so fresh and delicious. I personally think this is an awesome price for such a good burger, service, and the location is an off street from queen street with pubs across the 'road'.

I was frankly quite surprised by this place. With the advent of better quality burgers around the world, I was expecting to be hit with a 'better quality burger' price tag, a 'better quality burger' range of ingredient options and a 'better quality burger' interior. <br/><br/>But this was not your typical trendy 'better quality burger' establishment. In someways, its 'better'.<br/><br/>Tiny menu, low price, great taste. Interior was average for a burger place and service was too. But with an option like this I'm not sure how you can justify going to a typical fast food joint. Surprised but not definitely not disappointed.

Their menu may be simple, but it's bloody good! Our pick, grab the double cheeseburger combo, add bacon AND grab the special loaded fries off their not so secret menu! Fries loaded with their special sauce, cheese and caramelised onions... yum!! Plus, they use only the freshest local ingredients, you can definitely tell the difference here from your average burger chain!

Was quite disappointed with what I was given after all the hype that surrounded this burger joint sadly it did not live up to it.The overall meal was overpriced and tasted like every hamburger ive ever tasted although the fries were bomb I would rather go to McDonalds than Better Burger.

Skip the fast food chains, Better Burger does burgers, fries and shakes much better at a similar price! Fresh ingredients, fun atmosphere, and fast/friendly service. Would highly recommend.

I've been to better burger so much since uni started and the quality hadn't changed one bit. I always get the mushroom burger since I'm vegetarian and sometimes get the shake. The mushroom burger is always yum and juicy and I love the strawberry shake! <br/><br/>One thing to note is that if you're a student, you should download the Niesh app - you get small fries for FREE which is amazing value because for around 5 bucks you get a burger and fries!

These are by far the most tastiest burgers I have ever had. The music is so great and you the atmosphere tops it all off. The fries are so crunchy and good and are also made in 10 minutes!! This place is amazing and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good burger. 10/10 for sure

Fantastic burgers, unwelcoming service. <br/><br/>Better burger is always busy, a little dirty with uncleared tables and plates but the food in my opinion has always been the best quality at its price point. <br/><br/>However the service was extremely lacking. I work in a fast food like establishment myself, so I know that smiling, engaging with the customer and suggesting or helping with the menu is key for good customer service. However FOH, a blonde girl with the striped shirt who served me did none of those things. <br/><br/>I felt like I should have been ashamed for ordering from the way she treated us. Mono tone voice, looked annoyed at us and this seemed to be the case with all the customers. I enjoy better burger a lot, but the service we received made our dining experience decrease in its quality. Only giving a 3 as the burger quality was still amazing and the cooks are consistent with their work.

Love the burger and it's such a great value! I spend this much at Burger King but Better Burger is so much better. Not a huge fan of the chips but the mushroom burger tastes so good <br/>I go there usually once a week

The ambiance was nice. One can choose in eating outside or inside. The staffs were friendly and quick enough in clearing the tables. The burgers are of decent size and it is on a combo already for an affordable price and satisfies your cravings.

Came here with my 5yo daughter for a treat. We got a burger each and shared fried & shake. <br/><br/>Burgers were very tasty but just short of anything spectacular. The fries were great and the shake was solid. <br/><br/>Overall was good and I'll be back at some stage without rushing.

I can say this is the best burger place in Town! Not just the quality also the price.<br/><br/>For just $15 you can get a delicious burger with real steak patty (nice smoky flavour), one nicely cooked fries and a yum yum milk shake. Highly recommend the starwberry milkshake, you won't be disappointed if you're a strawberry fan.<br/><br/>Why would you still go to fast food chain or overpriced burger places when you have Better Burger!

Great tasty burgers. I love the portobello mushroom burger. They also do crisp fries with the skins included. Cheap, fast and a good snack or small meal.

Ordered a hamburger and fries here today. They were of good portion size and left me quite full. Good presentation and atmosphere inside. The shop is quite small but we were able to find a seat as they weren't too busy. The fries were very yum!

Very good burgers here. The burgers are juicy and freshly made, the fries are crispy and well seasoned. Service was fast although the guy at the counter was too busy flirting with some other customers and took 5 minutes to get to us.

WORST SERVICE EVER! This should have been a big fat 0! I regularly eat out with family so I know what good service looks like! While ordering for the family I asked about their secret menu because I read about it on the internet. He was sooo unhelpful and just kept uttering that he doesn't know anything about it. I said, forget it and I'll just look it up again but he kept going on and on about it! That really soured my dining experience! Why offer a secret menu and be unhelpful when the customer asks about it!!!! Thanks for ruining my night! Your service sucks! Hire some friendly staff man!

I dont like regular burgers, i always thought they're fake, but my sister tell me about the mushroom burger. I loved it! The cashier, maybe new, made some mistakes with our servings, she didn't know about super star burger. But it was all delicious!the fries too. Cheers from Chile!

Great, fast and simple burgers packed with flavour. Great value for money. That burger sauce is to die for! Be sure to check out the secret menu fries, definitely with it.

An easy walk down from uni when in the mood for a vegetarian burger and fries. Cute little place although they could do with an expansion as sometimes it's super busy and all the seats are taken! Staff are nice too :) I like how the fries aren't like your typical mcdonald fries -  it's a nice change sometimes. This is probably my friends favourite place in all of the CBD.

This rating is an average of my last 3 visits, including this evening. Would be higher, but for their insistence upon me entering at 8.30 that they were closed. With a full restaurant. And a sign on the door that says they're open until "late". And google saying they're open until midnight. And this very website says they are open until 9pm.<br/><br/>Disappointed not just with the poor communication of opening hours, but also with the poor attitude of the staff member who turned us away without apology, explanation, and with a patronising "same time as always" when I remarked "oh, you're closing earlier than usual".<br/><br/>Very disappointed, but I'm keeping in mind my previous visits. That said, your customer service has never done justice to the quality of your food - something I wouldn't say about the Galway Street store.

It's great to see Better Burger finding better locations for their burgers. Now as well as Britomart we have Vulcan Lane. I was surprised to see one had suddenly popped up there, but them being one of my fav burgers (esp the cheese burger combo) I had to drop in. First time in there was a queue that was unnavigable... Second time I came back later and it was fine, but still a wait. I tried the mushroom burger which seemed to be made out of an entire oversized mushroom that was deep fried.. :-) Not sure what I was expecting really but my hunt for the perfect mushroom burger hasn't yet ended. Overall top marks for great food and location without having to pay through the roof.

Went here with my friend for lunch around 1pm. It was quite packed and we had to wait in line for around 5 minutes. It's a really small place so I suggest they expand it to accommodate more people. Anyway lady at cashier was all right. The prices are okay as well not super pricey. My friend ordered the hamburger which costs $5 while I ordered the mushroom burger for $6.50 which is fine. I think the mushroom burger is a good vegetarian option as well. Anyway we also decided to share the large "epic fries" which are $5 for small but $7.50 for large which is a bit pricey in my opinion. I thought the fries were really small in quantity as well when I saw the box models. We had to wait another 5 minutes which is understandable since it was peek time but it was really packed in there so it was a bit uncomfortable cause most seats were occupied. Anyway once I saw the presentation I was pleased because it looked visually pleasing overall. The mushroom burger looked good. However, it lacked seasoning and flavour. Maybe cause it's my first time having one but I felt like it didn't have much flavour to it, it tasted too mushroomy. I did like the crispy texture of the portobello mushroom covered in batter though so maybe I'll give the burger a 3.5/5. I guess next time I'll get the hamburger since it apparently tasted good plus it was apparently cooked medium rare so I think it would have more taste. The mushroom burger didn't really please me so much because it didn't really have a memorable or outstanding taste at all. The fries weren't so epic in my opinion too. I felt like the mustard overpowered the fries too much plus the grilled onions tasted burnt. I felt full straight after the fries. You pretty much feel really full after the fries. I like the design of the place though. It has a nice vintage feel to it and appeared simple which made it stylish. Might come back in the future to try out other things on the menu.

They only have four different burgers but these simplicity makes each quality high! Although chips are little bit oily, it's much better than any burger shop. Also reasonable price with this quantity. I'll visit again !

Came here for a late Sunday lunch, and all in all it was a bizzare experience. First we waited for about 10 minutes for someone to man the cashier. Then I ordered a cheeseburger and asked for the secret fries. The cashier stops me dead and demands I use the "proper name" for the off the menu fries. I said that I don't know, I heard of them word of mouth, just like I heard of the place. The cashier was very rude, and refused to let me order the fries. My friends were confounded by this as well. So although the food was great, the service was quite awful. Im not sure if that's Better Burger's business practice, but if I want to order a more expensive item, wouldn't it make sense to grant it even if I don't know the specific name? He knew exactly what I wanted. Just weird. They're called 'Epic Fries' in case you want to avoid the hassle.

Great home made tasting burgers! It has that really nice smoky taste to it and has about everything you'd expect from proper cheese burger. However, the burgers can be little too oily for some individuals (not for me) and places can get filled up really quick so can be hard to find seats. Would definitely come again when craving for nice cheese burger! Also, their potato chips with skins are definitely something to try out! Skin really brings that extra earthy flavour and texture to chips! However it can be little pricey for portion.

First time coming here was last year. A mate of mine introduced me to it just as we were going home from uni. Was surprised at the menu, thought it was going to be more. But when I purchased the cheese burger, that orgasmic feeling when you take your first bite at a burger, delicious.

Small simple store. Adequate high stool and bar seats. It wasnt too packed at noon when I got there on a Sunday. They only have a few choices but I respect that - because that means they specialize in those! :) For the price similar to Macca's, they have fresher patties, all nicely toasted and grilled. Paired with yummy fries and milkshake (they are pretty thick and mean btw!). My tummy was belly happy for the rest of the day! Will def recommend and be back.

Came in here today, since I've been craving burgers for a long time. Ordered the mushroom burger combo and changed the drink to a strawberry milkshake. Service is good, friendly staff. I love how Better Burger has a simple yet affordable menu. Although the seating area is smaller compared to their Britomart branch, their food was amazing! It was my first time tasting the mushroom burger, I didn't expect it to be fried in some type of batter? Very delicious, decent amount of veges and sauce! Their fries are to die for. Their fries aren't salty, which I absolutely loved. Their strawberry shake made me very full, but was real nice, a bit on the sweet side. Portion size was perfect!

I've been here a few times now and I love their mushroom burgers (though messy to eat). Its central location is great which means I can come here during my work breaks. <br/><br/>It's always super busy so tables are usually messy and I always end up waiting about 25 minutes for a burger.

I ordered a double cheese burger and fries, but I got an ultimate GREASE burger &  fries, my bread and beef was soaked in grease, I am a guy with a big appetite and only ate half.<br/><br/>The burger did have potential to taste good if I wasn't for the excessive grease.<br/> Maybe they had a bad day ? But no second chances for me.<br/><br/>However the menu and nice decor grabbed my attention so for that I give it 2 stars.

We were wondering whether to go to the one at Brito or this one but coz of the weather, but we thought we'd much rather eat somewhere cosier.<br/><br/>We were super hungry so were pretty keen for a big feed. The fries are the best part! Theyre nice and thick-cut. I had just the basic cheeseburger combo with the strawberry shake and my friends had the mushroom burger. But in one of their burgers, a part of the meat was almost completely rare and she avoided that whole part coz she wasnt too sure & she's used to her meat only being well done. We were pretty happy though overall though.<br/><br/>I also won their Snapchat competition on my first visit so got a week's worth of free Cheeseburger combos! This is some solid promo on their part so Im more than happy to give them a 5* rating.

Better Burgers on Vulcan lane have good seating. More spacious than the one on Brito mart. Burgers are just as good 😀. The only downfall would be the size of the burger. Pack of good freshness just not enough if you're walking on an empty stomach. <br/>Other than that the burgers are delicious 🖒

Pretty good burger joint. Small, basic menu but done well. Meat has a great flame grilled taste, but could have been a bit thicker. Nice brioche style buns and a tasty mayo. Fries were nice with skins on for a change. Cheap and cheerful

Their burgers were really good , but the customer service was horrific. I went in to order and the guy on the counter was playing on his cell phone. After I got his attention to order he had very a bad attitude. My friend went and ordered after me and because she didn't hear him say to take the receipt he threw it onto the ground and swore angrily. The guy that served us was called J*** (as it said on the receipt). If the customer service was better then I might come back but at the moment I think I'll stick with the one at britomart.

These burgers aren't the best but they are BETTER than your average burger. The environment is nice but it's also so busy! <br/><br/>The menu is quite small and would be better if more times were added. But overall a decent place to have lunch.

It is strange that the staff asked a person standing next to me for his ID even though he just wanted a burger for lunch. Yes, I know they have a bar here so they need to check for IDs for some people. But come on, can we just apply some common sense. We could even save some time! <br/><br/>The burgers here weren't great as it is hyped. It tasted bland and was too small. McDonalds can do better burgers than this. And that's saying a lot. <br/><br/>The service was poor they just take your money.<br/><br/>The prices are high for what is a below average burger.<br/><br/>The tables weren't cleaned on time and there was rubbish and birds everywhere. <br/><br/>The customers seem to be very picky and the complaining type of people which ruins the ambiance. <br/><br/>I don't think I would revisit this place. I'm really trying hard to think about good things to say. But sorry, I really can't think of any.

What an awesome burger place! Love the simple menu: everything you need and nothing more. And the burgers likewise: all the essentials, but not fancy. The ingredients are all top-notch, and you can really taste the difference it makes. The mushroom burger actually has a huge mushroom in place of the beef patty, so is vegetarian - and tastes great. The portions are generous - we left very full. The fries are the best we have ever had, and the shakes were thick and tasty. My chocolate shake tasted intensely like real dark chocolate - wow! What really blew us away was the value: the cost was no more than Burger King, but the taste and experience are in another league entirely. The interior is mostly light, warm wood, and the lighting is not too bright and not too dark. It was warm inside on a wet, windy evening. The toilet was clean and tidy. The staff were friendly and accommodating, ensuring that we got exactly what we wanted. They are clearly passionate about delivering the best burger experience. The burgers genuinely are better. We WILL be back...soon.

One Bite into this Beautifully Crafted Burger and one word comes to mind.. and that word is Dedication, From the Fresh Pickles ( not Canned ) to the Fries which were cut fresh from a potato merely seconds from me walking in the door. The Atmosphere was Fresh, Clean and Buzzing with Foodies all craving simply a Better Burger. The Better Burger team really are Dedicated to Providing a Better Burger Experience for all. If you Havn't Had a Better Burger yet they are located on Vulcan Lane and they also have a store located in Britomart..Seriously It just is Better.

I'd never tried better burger until Friday when friends wanted to go for lunch. I'm vegetarian and the mushroom burger was surprisingly decent. However there was a long thick black hair stuck in my chips. I understand mistakes happen but when I went to the counter and I told the guy about it he said nothing and simply took my chips and replaced them. Not even a sorry. The least I would've expected is an apology and either being asked what I would like done or being offered a refund. What a disgusting way to handle such a disgusting situation.

Always always get double cheese burger, fries and a chocolate shake!!! There can't be a more perfect beef burger combo at such cheap price. Guaranteed!<br/><br/>I like the BB store on Vulcan lane better than the one at Britomart, one because the store looks nice (the Britomart one is quite noisy and it shares a space with the Country club next door), two because the cooking on the burgers is more consistent in quality and three, the staff is friendlier and super helpful. I remember this one time I asked the cashier if she could hold 15 mins before she put the order through because I needed to run an important errand near by, and she totally helped me out even though they don't usually do that. 15 mins later I came back and I could see they were prepping my orders. By that time the store was really crowded, if the staff didn't help me out, I'd probably end up waiting for a really long time. That is exceptional customer service 👍🏼 Keep coming back to this BB store every time I have burger craving 😌

I had the mushroom burger, and it was very tasty, particularly because of the brioche bun. But I do wish they had a different option than just the mushroom patty, because I'm not a fan of mushrooms at all, and it was just like one big, fried mushroom. As a vegetarian who has eaten plenty of delicious veggie burgers, I won't be returning here in a hurry. But apart from that, they're good burgers for a decent price. <br/>Also the fries are good, but very salted.

I had been looking forward to trying this place after seeing so many Instagram pics online, when it first came out! <br/><br/>Better burger resembles a fast food joint like McDonald's, however more boutique, hip and trendy, with a simpler menu (only 4-5 burger options). Cheap prices at $11-$13 a combo and good food! Don't expect too much as it is a fast food joint. <br/><br/>My cheese burger tasted wholesome and fresh, with simple ingredients including a beef patty, lettuce, tomato, pickles and cheese. Way better than any other ordinary cheeseburger! The fries and my chocolate shake were great too. <br/><br/>Overall I really enjoyed my meal would easily return again. I also love the presentation of their food, most fast food burgers don't look this good!

For only $5 - $7, the burgers here are excellent. They are very simple and with not a lot of sauces or seasoning, the fresh ingredients shine through. The meat patties are awesome, super tasty and high quality. Friends have said they could do with a little extra sauce, but they are just fine in my opinion. Definitely a go-to for anyone on a budget.

Better burger I suspect was mostly modeled on In n Out Burger from the States, with the simple menu choice and flavors available. <br/>For what you get its actually quite expensive, especially given that they only have a few options to choose from. A burger on its own is $5, but if you want a combo (basically small fries and a drink) then it goes up to $11-13. <br/>The food is good but nothing amazing, the fries were average but the shakes are good. Portion size is just enough for an adult. Given the hype its disappointing to see they charge so much for basic hamburgers and sides.

Ordered the cheeseburger combo. Nothing special really, very standard hamburger. I also find the fries very salty. Would probably try the mushroom burger next time based on my friend's recommendation.

I decided to try out Better Burger given that it was really popular. I ordered the Hamburger combo with the shake and fries. It was delightful, delicious and all things nice. The service was great and the combo definitely made me full for lunch.

True to it's name. Better, simpler, easier burgers. The burgers come out a bit greasy sometimes, but other than that they're pretty damn good. Fries come out al naturale, with the skins on and that great earthy flavour. Top it off with some tomato sauce and you're in for a classic treat!<br/><br/>Don't go past the chocolate shake. I personally think it's more like a caramel and chocolate shake - definitely not a bad thing! <br/><br/>Definitely my go to for when I'm craving a good old, no frills burger for lunch.

If you are looking for the best place to have burgers, this is the place. I come here often with my friends and this place never disappoints me. Highly recommended.

Em.. The pie was yam, but I just couldn't finish it. As you can see in a pic below the kind of aftermath I left.. My boyfriend had a burger and seems like he enjoyed it more. If I come in next time I wouldn't go for a pie again

I had a really great time at Better Burger with my friend!<br/>Me and my friend were actually planning to go to the Better Burger in Britomart but we were not older enough so found the Vulcan Lane one. I was really pleased that i had the urge to come and eat here and no give up because the food was incredible! <br/>I had the mushroom burger and my friend had the original one by both of them were delicious! When was ordering the mushroom burger i actually thought that it would be like the original one but just with mushroom but i was wrong it is a large mushroom deep fried! But i couldn't be mad at it was even better fried and with no meat!! I also had the fries which were yummy but our fries were very very oily which was not the best fries! I would come here again with my friends or even with my family~

Utterly abysmal service. They're clearly way understaffed. Was with a group of 6. 5 of us got our food, then they lost our 6th member's order. After notifying them we'd be waiting for 20 minutes, they took another 20 minutes (all while giving other people their orders) to bring out the missing food.<br/><br/>Didn't offer a voucher or a refund.<br/><br/>Disappointed.

Having seen the very limited menu online and the consistently top notch Zomato reviews, I was really excited about a burger restaurant getting back to basics, foregoing the need to load burgers with thousands of toppings and sauces for flavour but rather relying on freshness and quality of ingredients and simple execution. Basically a flavoursome, no bull-s**t burger.<br/><br/>In regard to simplicity Better Burger did not disappoint, but in regards to flavour I was seriously bumbed out! I expected a whole, thick, juicy meat patty but what I got was a meat patty squashed thin and had clearly been sitting on the grill too long resulting in a burger that tasted like smoky cardboard. There was very little sauce on the burger. My wife’s cheeseburger was a lot better, the meat patty thin but still a little juicy as the cheese laid on top had preserved the moisture from the meat during the grill.<br/><br/>The highlight of our lunch visit were the fries, which were delivered hot and crispy. The joint was loaded with people while we were there, and it might have been a bad day for the Better Burger crew, but ultimately that’s no excuse for dry, tasteless food.<br/><br/>Overall, a let down. :-(

The burgers were really good around lunch time. However the service was okay. Probably due to being under staffed. There was rubbish all over the tables and no one seemed to want to clear them.. Not a pleasant sight. Only had 4 selections of burgers; wished they came up with more!

This is actually the first time I have ordered something from here cause usually my boyfriend and friends would sometimes buy from here so I thought I'd try it out. I ordered a double cheeseburger for my boyfriend and a mushroom burger for myself thinking that it was the same as the "mushroom melt" from wendys. After I have ordered and everything I sat down and had another look at their menu and little did I know that there was a small letter "V" on top right of the mushroom burger name. That's when I clicked and figured out that it was indeed an actual mushroom patty-like. T___T I was pretty disappointed at myself for not checking but I did hope it was more clearer that their mushroom burger was actually/literally a mushroom mushroom burger xD my mistake and will learn from that. Either than that taste was still good my boyfriend gave me one of his meat from his dble cheeseburger just cause he felt bad for me, cause I was really feeling for something meaty haha. However I will still come back because customer service was good, food came in a decent time, food tasted fresher than your typical maccas burger, pricings alright and atmosphere was also chill and simple. Next time though I will make sure to properly look on menus from now on ^_^ @zomatostudents

They alright not many thing to order and meal are pretty small friendly service. But what got me was they bearly wash the potatoes and dont check if they green( as they are poisonous)

Better burger, burger burger, so many burgers xD If you're craving a burger that's really affordable and yummy, or if you just want a change from typical fast food branches, Better Burger would be my top place to go! <br/><br/>I always get the cheeseburger or if I'm exrra hungus then I'd go for the double. There's not a wide range of choices to choose from the menu but for indecisive people like me, it's a good thing xD <br/><br/>Their combo that comes with a drink (I usually opt for the chocolate milkshake!) and fries is really filling and worth the price. Writing all this makes me feel like going to get one now.....

Didn't bother to cook dinner tonight so took the chance to come and try better burger. If you've been to the US, better burger is similar to In&Out Burgers. We got 2x double cheeseburger combos, with fries and a soft drink. Their menu is small and simple, no fancy names no fancy ingredients. At $24 for two I was pleasantly surprised. I was a little afraid it wouldn't be enough. The burgers to me seemed smaller than in comparison to burger burger, and Big Js (my usual burger joints). Boy was I wrong. It was damn filling. So much so, I think next time just the single Pattie cheese burger will do me fine. I love how the fries here still have the potato skins on, gives it a nice wrinkly texture. I did find the patties a little dry, perhaps some finely diced onions in the meat mix to keep it moist when cooking? Seating is a bit awkward and uncomfortable here. The stools and tables are super high and not adjustable. I'm quite short and found it very difficult to get on and off. And perhaps the seating can reconfigure, so it can allow more seating inside, there is plenty of room. Overall this place is an amazing cheap eat, the quality of the burgers are on par with the likes of burger burger. In fact I think I would prefer the burgers here more than burgerburger, its less oily and the buns are nicer. Though in comparison to burger burger it does lack variety.<br/><br/>Food: 4.5/5<br/>Drinks: (can't rate because we got coke/sprite out of the tap. Consistent, fast, and cheap. I always get the Cheeseburger but would recommend the Double Cheeseburger to someone who hasn't been here yet. I've never had a dry patty and the lettuce and tomato always taste fresh. Their fries are one of my favourites as well. A good mix of customers order takeaway - students, professionals, people in ties. Their 'epic fries' isn't in the menu but it exists! It's fries topped with mayo, mustard, onions and cheese; ask the server and they'll know what to do.

I've been to this place a couple times now and it's always been great. Their prices aren't so bad as well, and I recently discovered their Epic Fries. Now that is something I really have to try. Watching someone else order them really made my mouth water. The buns are great too, and as I found out from their cute paper wrapping, they are honey buns. Two words - fluffy deliciousness. It such a nice change to eat here rather than the sad cheeseburgers that regular fast food places make.

Yes! Burgers are perfect size. Not too small not too big to the point you feel like you would explode. Love the small menu makes it easy to decide and good value for money. We got the double cheese burgers. Would love to see a chicken burger one day

I ordered the mushroom burger and chips. It didn't feel like you were JUST eating mushroom. I'm personally not vegetarian but eating this mushroom burger didn't make me crave for meat at all, the mushroom patty itself was satisfying enough. I do want to try the beef burger next time though!

Yum! Better burger is the best in Auckland to grab a cheap but good lunch. They use real meat and make their own sauce which is similar to a thousand island sauce. With four options on the menu (one vegetarian) it's pretty limited but that's what I like about it - I'm indecisive haha! The milkshakes are super delicious as well, wish they had a soy milk option though. This place is very similar to In-n-out burger (based in California) so if you've been wanting to try that cult brand, this will bring you close to it!

Review of Better Burger by Knot Just A Stomach. Better Burger is a great place for affordable fast food that’s actually tasty. They do amazing cheeseburgers and hamburgers here, where the pickles taste fresh, the lettuce is crispy, and everything is wrapped up in their adorable doodly paper. You can even get a combo of burger + fries + shake for way under $20.

First time at this new spot on Vulcan Lane. Food was consistent with the Brittomart spot, definitely recommend the Epic Fries from the secret menu. Felt the interior decor wasn't really consistent with Brittomart though, had a different vibe to it.

Looking for a quick, cheap and yummy lunch in britomart? Look no further! Better burger is in the centre of britomart, surrounded by popular shops and eateries. The food is made quickly and all tastes fresh and delicious. Though there is not much variety with their burgers and drinks, the ones they do have taste great! Just a warning, they do not let in people under-age as there is a bar which is quite annoying as you have to find somewhere to sit. Altogether, hasty service, great food but seating isn't ideal. Food is reasonably priced.

Obsessed with this place and their mushroom burger- it's 100% vegetarian! Fries are to die for. Only thing is - I wish you guys did coke zero or diet coke! The sugar rush from coke in the combo is too much to handle and always end up ordering a second burger 😂👍🏽 your evil plan succeeds

They make one of the best burgers in town yet! Went here tonight for a family dinner. Serving size was good, not too big and not too small either. Burgers tastes delicious. Thumbs up to their fries too! The service was quick which only took about 7 minutes which I did not expect as we are a family of 6. Me and my family enjoyed our dinner and had a great time! I would recommend this place to my friends :)

After my epic cardio work out in the city, I felt like a burger... We walked in as the door was open (which to my knowledge means welcome, we are open)... However, we were greeted with "WE ARE CLOSED" from two people in the kitchen.<br/><br/>I looked unimpressed and advised them that they should close the door if they are closed, this was after one of the staff had "chaarhood" and made strange noises at us... So rude and creepy. I think I'll stick to Britomart.

One of my favourite, if not the favourite burger joints in central Auckland :D Fresh food , clean place, friendly staff ( I haven't met an unfriendly one yet), what more could you want? Well~ probably a little more variety . But not an issue for me as I don't seem to be getting tired of their existing burgers and crunchy fries in the near future. Though some BBQ sauce for fries would be awesome ;-)<br/>

The setting is quite minimalistic and the tables and chairs are quite unique. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere was casual with music playing. Their fries are really good as they are crispy and tasty and never seem to get soggy while you are eating. The burger was alright for me as the patty was quite bland. Would definitely go back again to try a different thing from the menu.

Better Burger Valcane Lane is a fantastic and stylish addition to the Better Burger Franchise. Nothing is better than sitting out in volcane lane munching on a mushroom burger, trust me:)

An absolute must-visit burger place in Auckland. We always go there for our cheat-day dinner during the weekends. Butter burger is always packed; you normally need to wait for 30 to 40 min before you get your food. It's quite loud as the eatery is next to a bar.

Liked it. Had low expectations but surprised at the quality. Had the double cheeseburger which went down a treat, juicy patty and a good size. At $6.50 a pop, I'll be back.

I visited the new Vulcan lane better burger for lunch and was not disappointed. The line was quite long, but the staff were processing orders quite quickly so the wait wasn't bad. I ordered the classic cheeseburger; I love the price points here! So affordable for a decent burger. It did take a little while for the order to come out, but as mentioned, it was the lunch rush. The burgers are so minimal but delicious, all the ingredients tasted fresh with a traditional bun and patty. I would also recommend trying their fries, which are classic shoestring and way too addictive. Definitely would come here over McDonalds any day!<br/><br/>Sarah Reynolds #challenge

Best burger joint I have been to. Best tasting burgers, good portions and good prices. Only reason my rating is not a 5.0 is due to the fries. They are a little soggy however this may be because they only single fry them? Not too sure about this.

I gave these guys a solid 5/5 - absolute burger perfection. <br/><br/>From the simple menu, the mouth watering chocolate and vanilla milkshakes, the perfectly melted cheese on my meat patty (which is ACTUALLY MEAT not mystery meat). I was blown away last night at the Zomato meetup we had with Deena the Operations Manager. The cheeseburger, fries and shake I had were all super delicious and flavoursome. I loved it. The price per combo is SO amazingly cheap for the quality of product you are getting. <br/><br/>I got to look around the simple, clean kitchen and saw the whole process of making burgers and fries which are cut from real potatoes on site. I can see Better Burger getting real big, real fast with their hard working attitudes and their desire to do everything better. I'm looking forward to going back and trying the double cheeseburger!

Just came home from a Zomato foodie meetup here and I am soooo chuffed!!!! Deena, their Operations Manager and Kyle, their head chef were so amazingly friendly!!! Loved their concept of no freezer or microwave (it's true everyone, we were shown around the kitchen, and saw them making the burgers!!!) The fries were JUST AMAZING, particularly the epic fries from their "secret" menu: fries with caramelized onions, cheese, mustard and mayo. Also tried their vanilla milkshake, which is really thick and filling, but not too sweet- perfect for me, as I usually don't go for shakes. I can't wait to go back and try their Veg portobello mushroom burger (and the epic fries obviously :-)) Only reason rating is not 5 is I am waiting to try the Veg burger :-)

Service with a smile and good pricing.  Perfect fillings and sauce.  Pattie a little on the thin side so next time I'll simply order a double cheeseburger.  Easy!!

After getting rave reviews from friends, I went here on a Tuesday night expecting it not to be too busy, which it wasn't really, although the food took about 20 minutes from ordering. To be honest I was expecting amazing things, but I was a little disappointed. I ordered the cheeseburger combo with chocolate shake; the burger was average, nothing particularly special. The chips were a little too soggy with oil and a touch under-seasoned. The shake was pretty good though - they're handmade and totally worth paying extra for. <br/>Overall, it was decent enough, but I'll try the original Better Burger at britomart, just in case it was teething problems at the new location.

Loved it, just a good fresh honest burger. No frills but really don't need it when it's done right. Great value and the simple menu makes for an uncomplicated experience. <br/><br/>I would get fat eating here everyday if I worked nearby.<br/><br/>

I'm an absolute sucker for a good burger and Better Burger is exactly that: the better burger.  At $12.50 for a standard double cheeseburger combo, the prices are both affordable and much lower in comparison to other gourmet burger joints in Auckland. The patties are cooked medium rare which is exactly how I like it and the salad used in the burgers is fresh. I often find patties at certain stores to be over powering with the flavours used; Better Burger's patties have a well balanced flavour that is perfectly complemented by the special sauce used in the burger. The fries are crispy and satisfying and the overall dine-in experience is pleasant. <br/><br/>I personally prefer the Vulcan Lane Better Burger to the Britomart store, mainly because I usually forget my ID which means I can't dine-in (the Britomart Store is situated between the Britomart Country Club and 1885, both of which serve alcohol on the premises and require ID on entry.). The decor is inviting, the staff are friendly and the food is best enjoyed in the company of friends.

Everything about this place was clean and simple. From the restaurant lay out, menu, burger, fries and milkshake. Burger and fries weren't greasy. Milkshake tasted pure without any additives. Enjoyed it, although I kind of missed the spice.

I love a good gourmet burger so when I was in the states recently and tried In and Out burger and despite my doubts it did live up to the hype. Better burger is modeled on In and Out, with burgers made to order and a simple menu. You can have a burger, cheese burger, double burger, or mushroom burger. If you choose a combo, you can choose a small or large chips and softdrink or a milkshake. I had a cheeseburger, small fries and chocolate shake and it was delicious.<br/><br/>The decor is really clean and modern, there is some outdoor seating in Vulcan lane which would be nice in the summer.

Clean interior in and out, but very few seats. The food wasn't quick to come out, but it was likely because it was busy. I ordered a cheeseburger and my sister ordered the mushroom burger, which were decently sized for the price, the bread is fluffy and fresh and the salad is fresh too, but the meat in the burger is extremely thin, dry, and tasteless, and very unsatisfactory. This made a decent burger disappointing, despite the flavour of the sauce and the remainder of the burger being quite good. In fact, the mushroom burger was more flavoursome than the meat patty.<br/><br/>The fries are another story. Hot, crispy, and fresh, and served with a great sauce. The milkshakes were alright too, but small for its size. While it's not the best burger, it's decent for the price, and tastes fresh. I would definitely recommend the fries, but I preferred the slightly more expensive mushroom burger to the meat patty.<br/><br/>Better looking, for sure, but not necessarily better overall.

If you're looking for a quick, cheap, and filling meal, Better Burger is the place to be. I was recommended the Vegetarian (Portobello Mushroom) Burger by my sister and gave it a go without any expectations, and was surprised at how much I loved it, the mushroom was fat and juicy with a superbly crunchy crumb, offset with the refreshing gherkins, onions, and a few healthy slices of tomato and lettuce. I'm not usually a burger fan, but this one has converted me! Burgers have a reputation for being greasy and heavy, but this was actually a far cry from that image.<br/><br/>My dining companion ordered the Double Cheeseburger with mushroom (aka Superstar for $2 extra) and it was definitely a bit tricky to eat with all those layers, but wholly satisfying. Like many reviews of Better Burger, we had mixed opinions on this place- I loved it while he found it just alright so it's really down to personal preferences. The fries were okay, not amazing but not something to dislike either. I don't feel it's fair to compare this place to an expensive, gourmet burger restaurant as it's more of a healthy and very much upgraded (but you still get the fast-food guilty pleasure) version of the likes of Burger Fuel, Mcdonalds etc.

Burgers and fries were okay. Nothing that really stood out for me flavour wise but definately worth it rather than the plastic from any of the mcdonalds or Burger King outlets in the city! was really satisfying especially after a stressful exam.

I dont want to make just one bad experience the full review of any restaurant, but with much anticipation and expectations, the disappointment was nonetheless quite big. Ill firstly point out that they have GREAT burgers. They are better burgers for sure. The meat was actually very flavourful and juicy. The vegetables were clearly FRESH and crisp. Clearly 4.5 or above material in terms of quality of food. The let down was the customer service. The damn terrible first impression. Me and my brother visited here a couple of weeks ago after a work out. We arrived at 10:50 and was excited to order. However, the waitress was clearly not very enthused. She told us to wait for ten minutes but in a manner that I most certainly do not admire. Throughout the waiting process, it just felt uncomfortable. When customers come a bit earlier than opening, I would normally at least offer a glass of water or recommend which food is most popular. The look we got was simply: cant be bothered, not interested. Nontheless, I visited here a couple of times more afterwards and a lot of my friends are now visiting this place. Such a shame that first impressions are lasting. Great burgers though!

Tried Better Burger for the first time today. A good burger place. Yes their burgers are better than McDonald's and Burger King. Personally I didn't like their fries as much (tastes similar to the ones from Carl Jr) but burger is good compare to the price you pay (cheeseburger for $5.50!). I would say a good alternative if you want a burger that tastes similar to Burger Fuel but is a little tight with the budget! Would go back again.

I was really looking forward to trying this place, as I seem to have a thing about burgers at the moment, and have heard great things. Sadly, I was a little disappointed. The price for the burgers alone was pretty reasonable, but when you make it a combo, the price creeps up. <br/>Taste was not too bad, but not exceptional. I'm ashamed to say, the Build a Burger you can get at selected Mcdonald's was decidedly more tasty.<br/>Big ups to the service though, she was very nice.

The food is the same great gourmet style as the Britomart outlet but the space is much better. Service can be a bit slow but the mushroom burgers generally worth waiting for. Hope they set up on the shore.

This was introduced to me by a friend last Friday. I must say enjoyable food and service. The lady that served us (Justin I think her name was) was very nice addition to the good customer service was the simplistic idea of the menu it's straight forward. Chips were Yum and crispy, the patty in the burger would've been better cooked little more longer. But everything's good in an affordable price ??

I've probably helped put a serious dent in Better Burger's mortgage, having eaten countless times at their Britomart store over the last year. Much as the food has always been exceptional, the space has never been ideal ... the rickety chairs, the poor spatial flow ... sometimes getting a seat was an ordeal.<br/><br/>With the new Vulcan Lane store, Better Burger now has a space to match its excellent branding. It's stylish, clean and minimal, with lots of places to sit. The food maintains the same high standard as at Britomart, but the larger kitchen seemed to speed up the wait time, and my burger came in a few minutes, rather than the usual quarter of an hour wait at the other store.

Awesome customer service and awesome food. The guy who served me and my boyfriend made us laugh and was very polite. The food came out quickly and was hot and delicious! A nice atmosphere too and good music, will definitely be going there again :)

The food is good, yeah, but you could get the same quality at lower prices and delivery times at Carl's Jr. The thing that disappoints me the most is not only the lack of versatility in the menu but also the lack of any description of what the burger contents are.

Never ended up getting any food from here because the burgers apparently would take atleast 20 minutes. I get it, lunch time rush. But with only like 4 burgers on the menu - one would hope that the service would be quicker. If I wanted to wait 20 minutes fo<br/>r my lunch, I would rather get hot food! But I guess those that can afford to wait, will have a good meal. Will try another time, when it isn't so packed!<br/>*Finally got to eat there. And the burger was good! Better burger is one of the best buger restaurants in Auckland! After numerous visits to the Britomart Better Burger, decided to give the Vulcan Lane shop a visit! Same amazing quality burgers! The fries here are the best. Love the simple menu and the shakes are top notch! Better burger is definitetly a go to place for burgers, shakes and fries. The service was good and will be back soon!

Friendly young lass didn't make me feel like a fatty for upsizing my fries! First timer here so next time I need to get a burger. Who goes to a burger joint n only orders fries!?!?! I finally tried Better Burger for the first time a few days ago. It has been on my foodie wish list for ages but I just never got the chance to venture to Britomart to try one of their burgers. So, when I heard Better Burger was opening a branch on Vulcan Lane, I was super excited! Plus, it is literally only a 10 second walk from my work - deadly! <br/><br/>Better Burger's concept is simple - serving four delicious and affordable burgers - hamburgers, cheeseburgers, double cheeseburgers (my favourite) and veggie burgers (made with a Portobello mushroom patty), plus fries, milkshakes and sodas. I really like their short menu - it makes it easier to decide on what you want and also the chance to come back and try everything! <br/><br/>I ordered a double cheeseburger and a chocolate milkshake ($12). The milkshake was creamy, delicious and I could have easily drunk another one! The burger was tasty also, however it really did just taste similar to McDonald's burgers, just a better quality/healthier version. <br/><br/>The decor was okay - I think this is where it lets itself down. I have heard that the Britomart store has a nice garden feel to it and you are sitting on ACTUAL chairs. However, at their Vulcan Lane branch, the tables are high and so are the stools - very hard to get onto! <br/><br/>Overall, it was a good first experience, with affordable prices, scrummy burgers and delicious milkshakes, but I am not a fan of their seating. Next time I will make sure to opt for takeaway!

The burgers, fries and milkshakes are amazing. Honestly, I was thrilled they were opening a new store on Vulcan lane. But a 20 minute wait for a single cheeseburger at 2pm on a Sunday afternoon?? Hopefully this is just a new joint finding their feet, but it's hard to give more stars to such a long wait...
