Review Bamboo Kitchen - Auckland Central

Don
Probably the best takeways in Auckland. They deliver and the food is always fresh. If you haven't tried them I suggest you do you will be pleasantly surprised. Every dish they make is great and I have tried most dishes. I for one are pleased they are back in my area. Thanks guys and welcome back.

Love the food from this place! I've only eaten the Chinese and Thai meals though so can't comment on the fish & chips or burgers menu. Love the lemon chicken and sweet & sour pork dishes. It's a toss up between those and the combination chow mein. Heaps of veges and meat in their dishes, flavours are great and it's amazing to watch it all prepared in front of your eyes.

Some of the best Chinese takeaway I have ever had! And with every dish tried so far too. Always happy faces, and they just get what you want. The owner Norm is awesome and has a real grasp on kiwi, plus his family and front workers are awesome to chat to. They can make basically anything custom for an order with great amounts of veges and meat in every dish, and the good veges too, Broccoli, Cauliflower and Carrots rather than the filler veges I've found used over the years. Personal favorite is their chow mien, noodles on the side or underneath, their sauce is to die for and mixes really well with practically everything else. The have an A food rating and you can see why, tidy little place, and the food is made infront of you. They deliver too which is awesome, and they also do a half size portion of most of their meals, which is excellent during lunch times and you don't want a full one in the middle of the day or you're eating solo just before town. Love these guys, after a while they remember your name and your regular orders and make you feel quite at home - read the story on their wall too and you find this is a bit more than your std takeaway shop, more of a family legacy :)

Never disappointed. Great Chinese and fish and chips. Always friendly. Always consistent. You can phone in orders to pick up or have delivery! I think they do the best hotdog on a stick ever!

Fresh, tasty and quick. Prices are fair for sizes. Very kiwified take on Chinese dishes ie mixed veges, gentle flavors. Most will love but those die hards seeking authentic Asian may want to look down a dark alley on Dominion road as this is not your place. What it does, it does extremely well. Perfect takeaways for lunch or dinner any day.

Popular with the working crowd during the weekdays, this family run business has a large range of stir fried Asian dishes. Most customers order takeaway and there are two short rows of hair chairs for quick dine ins. Wait time is about 10 minutes. Recommended dishes are the rice and noodles with a bit of spice.

Great takeaway Chinese and Thai food! Prices are pretty good for the area. Order the "Lunch size" (1/2 size) which is plenty for one person and half the price on the menu.

The food is always really good, with service to match. I call ahead for take-out, and it's always ready within the time they promise. The prices are very reasonable, with good sized servings too.

Bamboo kitchen creates some of the most delicious cuisine in Auckland. I literally travel half way across the city to pick up their black been steak weekly. Highly recommended if you are looking for a high quality take out alternative.

Really great food, good quality with a wide range and reasonably priced. The people there provide a fantastic service and are very helpful. The family touch (family wall) adds to the atmosphere.

These guys are always great, an awesome family run business with top quality food and service. Pretty fast turn around for orders also! Definitely recommend

I have not written a review on here before, but the unsatisfactory quality of service and food received prompted me to write one.

We experienced a very poor level of customer service when placing the order. When clarifying the order, they were extremely rude, angry, and shouted at us. It was very unpleasant and looked like they had a bad day, but they shouldn't be taking it out on customers.

I ordered a steak and veges dish which was far too salty. I found a hair in the broccoli as well. I would not return here.

Fantastic service the staff are always so nice and friendly. The good variety is incredible and portions are so generous I love the flavors and food choices here. The pad Thai is especially amazing I've Been back many times

Pretty poor customer service. I called tonight to order dinner for delivery, the woman on the phone was great and told me this would be a 30 minute wait. 45 mins later I called politely to check that it was on its way and was assured it had left and would be there shortly. An hour had gone by and so I called again only to be aggressively spoken to by another woman who I presume to be the owner. I was constantly told in a raised voice "no, no, no you're wrong our staff would never have said 30 minutes it's never 30 always 40 and more on a Friday, our staff wouldn't have told you that" she kept reiterating this point and didn't apologise for the delay - I was 100% told 30 minutes so a little embarrassing for them. I expected perhaps when it was finally delivered about 70-75 minutes later that I might be offered a small reduction but no nothing / the man delivering also said nope the person never would have said 30 minutes and was very blunt with me - but upon reading other reviews this had happened in the past! Food is fine but not worth the hassle of delivery and poor customer service - kind of key components when you're operating within the service industry? Next time I will just go to Canton or elsewhere. :(

Inspired after reading a review from Diner8Here and decided to give it a try. Ordered the wonton soup (no photo sorry), steak and tomatoes, egg foo yong and some chow mein. The steak and tomatoes dish was quite average... but the rest were pretty darn good.

Quick and friendly service. Generous portions and they do half size. Will be coming back for sure.

Great takeaway shop.. quick service. I usually order Hong Kong Style Chow Mein. The best part about these guys is that the food quantity is enough for 2 people. Approx $15 - value for money. Staff are polite

Ordered a Bamboo special Hong Kong style chow mein takeaway. First impression was there was quite a lot of soft noodles. Didn't enjoy the pineapple in the chow mein. Not much of a sauce or flavour noted. Quite pricey & although the portion size was generous wouldn't consider ordering it again.

Ordered chicken and mushroom black bean sauce from here. Was really nice. Loved the taste and quality of the food. Staff very proffessional and quick service. Wish they had more seating though.

I organised some catering for a birthday party so got a selection of different dishes in bigger sizes. Communication from the get-go was awesome, I got really quick responses and they have obviously catered for a number of events before as they were very professional and knew what they were doing. The prices were very good and the food was fabulous - very fresh and delicious. We tried the won-tons, squid rings, lemon chicken, beef and black bean and their special fried rice and it was all great!! The guests at the party loved it all. And very generous sizes too. They also delivered which was great, took the hassle out of having to pick it up. I hadn't actually tried the food before the party, but will be my new favourite Chinese takeaway for sure!! Good job Bamboo Kitchen!

top marks for the quick service, 'A' grade and presentation of the dish n premises, i know they cook the rice noodles to precision at Diamond n st johns, this time got of the beef soft noodle chow mein for a change instead, oh half portion too, other places not allow this, and the generous serving of the Hoki fish too. while waiting for order one can see the family history on the wall too, only drawback is lack of parking there on buzy nites.

Best Chinese I've had while in Auckland.

Ordered the Sweet and Sour Pork, Lemon Chicken and Pork Fried Rice.

Service was nothing bad but the food was great.

The pork, crispy and drizzled with sweet and sour sauce was good although the lemon chicken was definitely the star. An entire chicken breast coated and fried then cut up. I haven't seen that quality in Auckland so far.

Very impressed they deliver locally, definitely on my list of things to try.

Had this for the first time today.
Got the bamboo special fried rice and a spring roll. The spring roll was delicious and the fried rice was great too.
No parking available so you need to park in the car park across the road and run over and back before you get towed.
Will definitely have again.

I am a little disappointed with this place. Had it delivered in 45 minutes to the viaduct which was pretty good. Wonton noodle soup had no flavour or soup. Fried rice and chow mein was bland. Fish and chips was fine. Dumplings were average. Maybe because it may have been sitting around for too long before it got to us. I was hoping it was going to be good because of the other reviews on here. Actually, It's pretty crap to be honest.

My first choice takeaway option and excellent delivery service as well! Between two of us we usually order two mains and have decent left overs. I love the variety at Bamboo Kitchen and absolutely cannot go past the lemon chicken. Can't fault the service, and it's great to have a reliable delivery option with always delicious food at the end.

Love going to Bamboo Kitchen, everything tastes and is so fresh. Often on Friday nights I will call in an order to take home for dinner, the food is cooked fast and often the food is still really hot by the time I get home about 30-40 minutes away.

The service is great and friendly

Our go-to place for fish and chips - its close by, portions are decent and dont feel bad about eating fried food coz it doesnt seem as heavy as most other cheap budget places and not as greasy. Around 30$ for a big feed for two people: wedges snapper x2 oysters x6 scallops x2 spring rolls x2. They also do decent takeaway chinese food and big portions too for about 15$ per person or plate.

Just short of 4 yums.

Wide variety of food and all great quality. When me and my girlfriend cannot decide on what to get delivered, this is typically our default choice. The prices are all reasonable and it's definitely a place to keep in mind if you're in the area.

First time I have ever tried Bamboo after finding them on a google search, the food was fantastic and the people were really friendly. I liked that you could get half portions gave us a chance to try a few different things. Everyone who shared the meal all agreed, we will be back, I would recommend it, worth the drive to go there.

Bamboo Kitchen is an excellent addition to the Mt Eden/Eden Terrace area. I am confident in selecting any of their dishes as I am yet to be disappointed. The food is always fresh, fast and delicious while their service is always friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend anyone to try the Bamboo Kitchen as their half sizes are great for students like myself and their pricing is affordable for a family or group.

We've been trying to find a good Chinese takeaway since moving into Auckland 4 years ago and tonight we found the best so far.
The food was great with excellent service. Good pork to batter ratio in the sweet and sour with no gristly or chewy bits.

Finally tried this place out last night... just went for the pad thai... and it was fantastic. Best pad thai I've had in ages. And great portions too! If the rest of the food is as good as that then I definitely recommend it and I'll certainly be back soon. Thanks

Amazing food! I was a frequent customer of Diamond Takeaways but my last few visits there were disappointing. Found this was because the owners moved on to Bamboo Kitchen. Somehow the food was even better than usual! Sweet and sour pork was deliciously crispy but without being too chewy, and my new favourite is the bamboo special fried rice which has mushrooms! Highly recommend to anyone who loves Chinese food! Great food and service.

Good food.
Had the sweet and sour pork and the mixed sweet and sour dish which was nice and big portion sizes.
But I did have an issue with the delivery service. I live in an apartment building, which was apparently a huge problem for the guy delivering my food. He said he was probably going to get a fine for parking "illegally" and was in a huff that he had to come upstairs to give us our meal.
I found this a bit odd, if you have chosen to have a delivery service should you not plan ahead as to where and how you will park your car under these circumstances? So not the best customer service in that department.
Eddie
Great food, Great portion sizes. Had delivered very prompt.
Would get again... and again.
Great service.
Highly recommend.
The menu mania site wants me to add more. What else to say but this place is awesome.

Love Bamboo Kitchen!

Got Fish and Chips for the office a few weeks ago and we were all impressed with the quality of the snapper.

Also love the Asian dishes - lemon chicken and the chicken with cashews are great!

Service is fantastic - highly recommend to all.

Bamboo kitchen is a fast paced, efficient Chinese takeaway located in the developing Eden Tce precinct. It is another creation from the people who started the ever so popular Diamond takeaways in Epsom.

We decided to call up for a quick and easy Sat night takeaways before the Rugby and quick and easy it was! Great phone service, 10min pickup and breeze in/out. Massive quantities, lots of ingredients and good flavours, a tad on the greasy side for my liking but the hubby enjoyed it.

This might be our new local!

The best Chinese takeaways in Auckland used to be from Diamond Takeaways in Greenlane. Family owned and run since the early 70s, some weekend nights the queue stretched out in to the street! Understandably everyone was devastated when they closed last year, but " watch this space" said their PR and up sprang Bamboo Kitchen in Eden Terrace . More open and spacious, the food is even yummier and the same smiling faces of Norm and his team greet you from behind the counter and the woks!
The menu is extensive with Indonesian and Thai dishes complementing the age old favourites of chow mein, fried rice sweet and sour, and lemon sauce dishes The dishes are packed with fresh veges, meat or seafood and they don't skimp on the cashew nuts either Good burgers and fish and chips are produced here as well, making it a one stop shop for families and groups with varying tastes
Follow them on their website Facebook and Twitter , email or phone them, or better still just pop in and order a dish or two. You won't be disappointed
