Had a great time here. Friendly staff, the food for me a Salmon Mornay main & a Apple Crumble dessert though on the small side of portions was delicious 😋 "I'm a big eater". The premises was clean and tidy. The fire was appreciated on the chilly evening. A nice place to celebrate some of our family members birthdays.

Previously have stayed away from Alberts Post Bar for food, it never hit the mark / lacked however maybe there has been a change in ownership because I recently visited and had the steak - it was cooked perfectly, the flavours were on point and overall it was an excellent meal. Also had the apple tart, very yummy! The service was great too, friendly and prompt. Will definitely be going back!

This is my favorite restaurant in Auckland. I've never been disappointed with the food here. The ribs are absolutely delicious and the atmosphere is really great. They also host trivia nights

I was recommending this place to my friends before I even left. Mindblowing experience, perfect for an afternoon date. My wife and I were thrilled by everything, Even the menu design. And I must say, BEAUTIFULLY poured pints 👌 Best i've seen in the length and breadth of this country. I WILL BE BACK SHORTLY. Very delicious food priced very affordably. I'd recommend it especially to uni students after payday, as a little treat that won't break the bank.

Very obliging hosts. Nothing was a problem..& to be provided with ACTUAL table service was a REVELATION ! V few eateries / bars in Australasia offer this service . 1 issue that could be easily resolved is a mobile EFT machine ( 1 that waiter / waitress could bring to table )..to save tramping up to the bar upon every purchase. Didn't partake of food..but what I witnessed being served certainly ticked all the boxes. ..

I've been there a few times and tried the Gnocchis, steak, the Sunday roast and burgers and every time the food has been good. The owner works hard to do everything that he can so you can enjoy your time and meal there.

What an awesome wee place! Friendly staff right from the start and a lit fire was a warm welcome too. Drinks are at a reasonable price, all served with a smile. Recommendations were offered by the very friendly team member and water delivered but only after our second wine. Water from the start is always a nice touch as many people drive and are conscious in that regard. Food we had was nice, with the beef stew looking like a nice hearty meal for a cold winters evening. I think I would have preferred my meal a little hotter (temperature) but that’s a personal preference. Blankets are offered for all patrons to keep warm which is another nice touch. Music was pleasant and loud enough to be heard but not over powering. Personally I thought, $12 for the popcorn chicken (5 pieces) was a tad overpriced. As a local here is nice to discover a watering hole within walking distance that won’t cost and arm and a leg. All in all - A nice experience, I would recommend and also come back.

The ambiance’s really nice...
I never knew there’s a cafe/bar this nice so close to us..
we only ordered snacksies.. so nothing major.. it was alright, presentation is average. Taste is good. Price is good for appetizers atleast.

What actually i didnt like is the Indian server who really doesnt seem happy about his job.
I’d rate it 3.5 * but i dont have that option..

Im willing to try the mains next time.. maybe my rating might change

The food here is amazing . The Indian manager at the bar makes sure u get the right drink at any cost and the chef is doing a great job with such a quality food and quick service. Have eaten many places but the calamari here is just amazing to eat anytime. Will recommend everyone to eat calamari at Albert post

Amazing food. Very friendly staff, great options for beers. Steve, the owner is also very active and friendly. A cool place to make this a usual hangout place.

First time here and had a great experience. The guy that served us kept checking up on us regularly even though it was a full house. Cocktails are nice and strong, not overly sweet 👍🏼 the Margherita pizza is delicious and was demolished in about 2 minutes. Will definitely be back again.

Such an awkward location, where’s the parking at!
The interior of this place is nice, has a cool bar, outside seating, vibe is quite nice but man it was cold!! Please turn some heating on during the evening, would prefer to take my jacket off.
Foodwise I was pretty disappointed. Pizzas looked pretty good. Very very pricey though for what they are. Kumara chips were the best thing I tasted and came with a very generous amount for the price.
The burger I ordered I was not impressed with at all. I got the halloumi burger, but got the salad bunice version, so lettuce in place of the bun. They served it with literally just the halloumi and then a few fried mushrooms throughout under the lettuce. No pickle. No avocado. No tomato?? No beetroot.. just the two ingredients. Came with fries, and I paid $19 for that. Very disappointed.
Cocktails super strong, well priced.
Service was great, lovely helpful young girl served us.

Went with the family first time, Tuesday night $15 burgers, normally $22... while I think it’s great Mt Albert has a Gastro Pub, burger was well below par and given it’s normally $22 - said to the bar man it was average - bun was old & very small, fried chicken was burnt, lettuce minimal. Other food was okay..

Great selection of craft beers. Kid friendly. Good honest food. Great local establishment. Easy to book online and warm friendly staff. Have been many times, great quiz night on Wednesdays and looking forward to comedy night!
Alberts post is one of the best additions to Mt Albert. Top quality service, great selecting of craft beers and superb food. We often head since opening last year, and have never been disappointed. We are happy to recommend

Edited review
Alberts post were keen to put things right after our first experience and followed up with us in person. Good work. We tried it again for a weekend lunch and I’m pleased to say had an excellent meal. I had the beef and bacon jam burger which was delicious and plentiful. My wife the calamari and daughter the bao bun. All meals were good reasonably priced pub type fare. Happy to upgrade the original review rating as a result

Original review

We were really keen to try Albert's Post for a meal and drink. It's close to home, there aren't that many in walking distance in Mt Albert. Started well, the place has a nice layout and ambiance, friendly and welcoming. Good selection of craft beers and other drinks. I liked that you can order a 200ml glass of craft beer, so you can try several. Unfortunately, the experience went a bit downhill when we ordered food. I ordered an eye fillet steak medium, my wife a Quesadilla and some Calamari for starter and decided to start on a 200 ml wheat beer. The kitchen was apparently short staffed so food took a while, which wasn't a problem. However, the calamari arrived at the same time as the mains which meant we were eating this while our mains were getting cold. Still, not too big a deal, the calamari was nice enough and we were hungry. The fillet however was poorly seasoned, under cooked, tough and full of gristle, I'm seriously not convinced it was an eye fillet cut... I get shit happens sometimes, but it would have been nice if one of the wait staff that passed by had asked how the meals were, or asked if we wanted another beer at any time. Nope, just took the plates away, with the pile of leftover gristle centre stage... Not even when I paid the bill was I asked if the meal had been OK. Staff were friendly, but these are basics, surely you'd be keen to sell us some more drinks if nothing else? So overall, not a great experience unfortunately, We were disappointed, as we were keen to support a local startup with what is a good concept. I'll probably give it another go in the hopes that this was a random bad experience or beginners teething issues.

Solid local for the area, plenty of food for the dollar and solid range of beers on offer. Not so keen on the kids area, but that’s what suits Mount Albert

The decor is nicely done, really friendly waiter and great beer selections but charging an extra $4 for vegan cheese on 1 quesadilla or pizza is rather expensive for the small amount used. I can understand $2 if need be. Limited menu but Great to have a local pub to meet up for drinks.

Food was great, environment was outstanding. Well looked after and fast service. Will be going back regularly. Reasonable prices and good outside area to catch the afternoon sun!

The food was delicious and service fantastic. Friendly and responsive staff, cool atmosphere and the pizza (chicken and prawn) was the best we have had for as long as we can remember. The other meals (pulled pork quesadilla and tiramisu) were also fantastic - the tiramisu was quite rich and large so we could have easily shared one and felt like we had enough. Thanks for a great evening

We will remember Albert’s Post for their generously large pizzas and spacious/relaxing atmosphere. Solid bar food offerings on the menu along with craft beer and wine – we have no complaints on that front. The service was a tad slow – with the staff still getting around their devices, but their friendliness made up for it.

Check out our individual food reviews here: husk.co.nz/lunches/alberts-post-october-2017

Their puttanesca pizza with the anchovies taken off and cheese changed to the vegan one is YUM. If you're vegan watch out for the hot sauce on the tables as it contains butter.
