Review Kampung Style - Auckland Central

We came by for lunch since it was nearby. The restaurant is located at the train station which was interesting. Keep an eye out for the sign on the road. The place isn't very big but they do have a few tables outside too. We were able to get a table inside without booking. The menu is interesting, particularly their flying noodles, but that requires pre-ordering. We grabbed a few items to share. The char kweh tiew was nice here. It has lardon in it so it was that nice flavour. The wok hei wasn't very strong though. We also got the salted egg kumara and that was quite nice. The lamb curry was interesting as it came out in a sizzling hotpot. The flavour was quite nice and the lamb was fairly tender. The food here is quite nice. It is a great place if you like Malaysian dishes. There were a few other items here that did look interesting, particularly the flying noodles.

Not bad xial. Curry laksa ok ok very flavorful but Santan covered most of the taste. Very special location as it's within the old train station Service is fast. Food is great. Feels like home

A small makan-makan (eating place) beside the train station. Highly recommended if you want to try Malaysian Food! Sedap (delicious)! Must try - Rojak, Nasi Goreng, Sambal and Malaysian Coffee (Kofi Panas) April 1 Went back here. Tried Kampung Style Gold Friend Rice and Sweet and Sour Fish. Try the Milo Dinosaur. Yum!

Great food, friendly service. 4.5 stars. Ordered the CKT which was pretty authentic, missing the lapcheong but otherwise pretty good. Rojak, omg ive missed this! Id order it take away if i had time. Poached chicken was great too! Pricing and portions makes it very attractive to drive out this way for a meal. Negative was the decor, but thats what u get for a converted train station. That aside, very good food and friendly staff, will have to come back to try the other dishes, wish it was in the shore!

Nice little Malaysian restaurant housed in what used to be a train station. They make their own sambal there and sell jars of it. Ordered the Prawn Mee and Nasi Lemak with Beef Rendang. Flavorful food and the service was excellent. I saw they had some crazy looking noodle dish as well, not sure what it was but it looked like it would be an experience trying to eat it.

Very good Malaysia food. Very recommended. The food so so good, tasty and good portion. Resonable price. Recommend to try teh tarik (Malaysia tea) mee goreng, all the food is really yumm. Staff very friendly

Great taste for curry mee and prawn mee, satay chicken was juicy & tender, CKT has got the wok-hei and roti is fluffy. Their beef rendang and sambal is a little sweet (not catering for msians). There's some value for $ dishes.

A little restaurant which used to be a train station. A lovely setting and very popular with Asian customers. Laksa & shrimp hot noodles were nice, but they can be better to achieve 5stars.

Good Malaysian food with the best Sarawak taste. Famous Sarawak dishes like kampua, Char Kway Teow tomato sauce, 炒煮面。Generously portion and quick service. Situated in a old train station which really brings out more charm to the place. So many to try!

Great food and very reasonably priced. And they are so fast at preparing and serving the food! It is often cold and windy though and they don't close the double entrance doors.

Good and efficient service, great food, generous portion. I visit pretty much every weekend. Their Lamb Curry is one of the best I've had. The Bak Kut Teh and noodle dishes are also delicious. They also sell homemade chili crisps in oil, which are yummy and has become one of my pantry staples. I've been taking friends and family to this place and they all enjoyed it too. Recommended.

Good yummy portions and great friendly service. If you crave for good sambal chilli you can buy a big bottle back. Big menu so you would be spoiled for choices.

This place is amazing. This was an old train station turned in to a restaurant. So don't expect much space inside. But its super comfy inside. Better to call and reserve a table before visiting. Food was top notch and way better than most famous Malaysian restaurants in the city. Service was great and staff was friendly. Laksha soup was somthing to die for and Lemak was awesome. Great place. I give five stars for satisfaction

Not bad the food, but sadly the Ice Kacang ABC is not sweet enough, tasted blend. But I will still recommend it to my relatives and friends. I will be back again.

Nice place for dining. The fish noodle soup and foochow noodles in the pics were awesome! Char kway teow has lots of wok hei to my liking. Next time will definitely try the flying noodle as we did not pre-order.

The best Malaysian restaurant in Auckland and i have been to most! if this place was in the city you would never be able to get a table :). Every dish is made with quality ingredients and such a cheap price.

Ordered takeout last night. Got more rice than the actual dish. Overloaded with onions& the beef was rubbery,couldn't taste the ginger, it was not nice. Disappointed.

Sorry guys. I'm sick of always calling up and you lot having laksa or curry dishes. It happens probably 70% of the time and you say you've "run out". You should not run out of a standard dish at 6pm before the start of dinner service so often. Learn to make more!

Great place. Quite a few prawns in our dinner. Yummy... � fyi... chilli prawn is firey for a normal kiwi palatte ��can't rember what else we had, but it was yummy �

Wow! One of the best Malaysian foods I've had in Auckland. Felt very authentic and hearty. Everything we ordered tasted great and I loved the milks teas a lot! Will defs be back to try more of the menu, already dreaming about their fresh crispy roti!

Quite an authentic Malaysian restaurant. I reckon it's one the best in West Auckland. I liked their fruit rojak the most.

I hesitated a little when I found this place as it is right in the center of Glen Eden and next to the train station. I am glad I came here. The food was great very authentic. Friendly customer service. Sitting a table outside, next to the main busy road, and the train station gave me a feeling as if you were in Asian country. The place is elevated from the road so it doesn’t bother you much. There is also the train station car park next to the restaurant which is very convenient. Will definitely come back again for lunch.

Favourite Laksa Place

Great Malaysian food very authentic. My all time favorite Malaysian restaurant. Their curry chicken nasi lemak, char kuey teow , prawn mee and chicken curry laksa is our family regular menu to order. Been to all the Malaysian restaurants around but I have to say I love Kampung the most.

Superb Authentic Malaysian food ,well priced,big meals .Kampung is a very cool set up ,in the old ticket office of the Glen Eden train station .Easy parking ,<br/>Indoor outdoor dinning , I have eaten at popular, Malaysian places in the cbd or near .They don’t compare to this . Worth the drive west to try Kampung.

Delicious malaysian food. Food is quite authentic. The char kwee tiao was great, the roti with curry was delicious. The iced campur ABC was disappointing though. Service was also pretty slow even though there were not many people there.

Tried Kampung Style for the first time this weekend. <br/>Satay: though the chicken meat was tender, it lacked the char grilled-ness that makes a satay,satay $12<br/>Chicken Laksa: the curry broth was full of flavour along with the yellow noodles $14.50<br/>Kampung style fried beehoon: nice flavour but a little<br/>wet for my liking $14.50<br/>Nasi Lemak Beef Rendang: loved this dish, very tasty and beef was tender,also nice coconut rice $17.50<br/>Overall taste was readonable, but was little bit pricey for a diner in west auckland.

Incredibly convenient location given it is right at the Glen Eden Train Station with on street and station car parks. Inside and outside seating available.<br/><br/>Service is fairly quick and staff are polite and professional. Food is consistently delicious and well made. I recommend the Hainanese Chicken Noodle (delicious!), Sweet and Sour (decent chunks of meat brilliantly battered) or the Chicken Curry with Roti (the roti is consistently soft and melt-in-your-mouth delicious).<br/><br/>I would not recommend the Chicken in Pandan Leaves (entree) as the flavour was lacking or the Nasi Lemak (normally my go to) as I do not believe the price is reflective of the serving size.<br/>Generally a great place to eat out and one of the few good West Auckland Malaysian eateries.

Been here for lunch with hubby, ordered Omelette rice with prawns and gravy and Malaysian sambal chicken, although it showed spicy on the menu there was never a hint of spicy in the food which we were expecting but overall food was satisfactory, I enjoyed my cold milo drink though. Ambience wise it is set up in an unlikely place but that’s what gives it its uniqueness.

I love the premises, it is very unique in the old station of Glen Eden, the hospitality is also very good.<br/>This time I ordered Fried Kwetiau which I'd give excellent feedback it has a very nice smell and smooth rice noodle. Second menu I ordered was Sambal Fried rice which was on the chef board at that time, unfortunately I'd say this is not for me. The rice too wet and sticky (probably they use fresh cooked rice) and the smell of the sambal was not good either, the taste was plain although i tried to add some more sambal it did not help. The sambal taste weird. The third menu I tried was Lo Mie, the soup was good although it is not thick enough for me, but the noodle does not taste good for me. I probably would try other menu sometimes and absolutely will buy the Fried Kwetiau again.

Definitely will be going back!! The food was delicious and the service was helpful and friendly. My favourite dish was the tofu. Great value for your money. It’s not a huge place if you want to sit inside so it pays to make a booking.

Tried char kway teow, curry laksa chicken, satay chicken and teh tarik. Char kway teow and chicken laksa are ok, better than some places in auckland but not the best. Satay chicken is too moist. If i am living close by would come more often for this pricing. You know there are places that you would continue to visit even it is far away. This is not our 1st or 2nd pick for malaysian restaurant. However you can tell the owner/ staffs are friendly and caring. They do provide kids colouring, books, magazines and kids cutlery, etc. It is a place design for young family or pop in for drinks or malaysian desserts.

The chicken laksa is to DIE for! Absolutely delicious. I have sampled quite a few Laksa's in my time but this is my favourite. The ambiance is intimate. The staff are friendly and the service is fast. Highly recommend.

Small little restaurant. the food was ok but not authentic Malaysian food....its just soso....cant compare to Mama Rich or KK .....i would not go back for a second try.

A nice little spot at the Glen Eden train station. They offer rare gems like the foochow braised noodles and Sarawak Kolo mee which was a nice change to the usual fare.<br/><br/>Service is quick and friendly. Food came out quite quickly after placing our orders.<br/><br/>Would definitely come back to try out other items on the menu.

We ordered takeaways from Kampung Style waited approx 20mins. Our order was curry puffs, chicken skewers, lemon chicken, beef rendang and roti. We were looking forward to our meal as the cafe looked busy. My first mouthful of beef was gristle, the sauce was VERY oily, flavour was average. Curry puffs were good. Roti VERY greasy. Overall we were bitterly disappointed in our meal sadly to say.

Very cute little spot! We were seated outside in the cold as they were busy but luckily got a seat indoors when it freed up. Ordered satay chicken & rice, curry puffs and my partner ordered noodles. <br/>Both loved the curry puffs. Our mains on the other hand... my partner didn’t love his noodles, he knows he just ordered the wrong thing. I received a bowl of chicken with out rice... as my first meal after meat free july it was a bit full on but yum. Not something to brag about but the chicken was tender. We will be back to give this place a better go in future, just with the order mistake and first choice for meals being a bit disappointing but we will be back!

Nice and Cosy! Service was great! Food was great too! Felt a lil uneasy after-taste after eating the roti, not sure if they are freshly made or frozen rotis but otherwise everything else was really tasty and definitely worth trying!! The Kopi was real good too!

Wondeful and authentiA malaysian cuisine! The fish head rice vermicelli soup is definitely tasty with tomato and sourish vegetables. I like the crunchy fried fish head the most in there. The beef fried rice noodle with wok hei is so delicious.<br/>The smooth Teh Tarik is highly recommended.

I decided to have lunch here on a Saturday after reading the great reviews here. On arrival I found the Carpark full but fortunately I found street parking nearby. The restaurant is in the old Glen Eden train station. The restaurant is more like a cafe with a few tables inside and a few tables outside. It's probably not a place to visit on a wet night as it's likely you'll be seated outside (although undercover). So I advise you book and request an inside table if the weather is poor. When I arrived at the restaurant the staff was busy so I grabbed a menu from the counter and grabbed the only available table. I ordered the chicken laksa which was well priced. It arrived relatively promptly but without a spoon. I asked the waitress for one. After waiting patiently for 15 minutes I finally asked the waitress again. It was clear she forgot and the restaurant was understaffed. The laksa itself was nice but nothing special. So the food was ok and the service was less than average. I won't be in a hurry to revisit.

Food was absolutely delicious! Was our first time here tonight and will be going back again for sure. So good! Yum! Even the homemade cucumber and lime soda was delicious.

We had lunch here for the first time and the food was very impressive! Authentic Malaysian/Chinese flavours and good price for the meals! We had the lunch special and the flavours were yum! A bit odd with location behind train station but didn’t bother us. It’s better than a lot of Malaysian places in CBD. Will be back again for sure!

Another great Malaysian place in Auckland. Tried their Kampung Style Char Mee Hon, Chicken Satay and Hainanese Chicken rice and they are all tasty with authentic Malaysian taste. Quite unique spot as it is located by Glen Eden Railway station with friendly staff. Good food and value for money.

The best kuih tiew mee in town. Taste is authentic without any artificial colour or flavors. My kids loves the foochow noodles with the special Oreo shake. I enjoy my abc drink too. Tiny cozy Malaysian cafe by the train station. Kids friendly and very friendly staff and their service is top notch. It's good idea to make a booking especially for dinner as they are busy most of the time.

Read a lot of good reviews for this place and was excited to try it out. Came here on sunday afternoon, the place was quite small but it was not so busy when we came in so we were seated straightaway. Ordered their dry egg noodles with wontons, fried rice and ice kachang ABC. The star of the show was definitely the wonton noodles, it was so yum! The other 2 was okay, might come again to try other dishes if I will be in the area.

Poor service and disgusting food. Vegetarian options aren't really vegetarian as they contain shrimp sauce. The actual menu is hard to read so prices are misleading. Staff lie about pricing and sometimes overcharge without good reason. The staff shout at each other in the middle of the restaurant in Chinese which prevents a relaxed atmosphere. When the wrong dish was brought to me, instead of apologizing, the staff tried to make excuses. Not professional at all. Will not go back. Blossom Court in Panmure is a much better Malaysian restaurant.

Best curry laksa in town! Seriously can’t go wrong with this one! Have Had both the seafood and and chicken. I don’t know if I came here again I would get anything else since it’s that good! The prices and portion sizes are amazing! Staff are amazing also and they get super busy so make sure you book since not many tables available.

I finally made it here after promising myself for quite some time. It's set in the old train station which bought back memories of catching the train as a child. It's in the same room where you used to buy the tickets. It's great to see they kept the character of the place.<br/>Service is friendly. You get a choice of inside or out, I chose inside as its by the train tracks and also on the main road so a little too noisy outside. They only have a few tables but quite large so I was able to sit quite comfortably with my food and a book in front of me. <br/>I ordered the Char Kway Teow which was nice. The Chinese sausage was soft and crispy, flavoursome little morsels in the dish. I also had an Oreo milkshake which was yummy - the shake came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and topped with a couple of cookies. <br/>Recommended.

A nice location in Glen Eden. The customer service is really good. You get to seat in inside or even outdoors for some fresh air. I went and had fried noodles and I think they put in too much sauce which ruined the taste of the food.

I have been to many Malaysian restaurants here and this is the most authentic Malaysian food, especially for Bak Kut Teh and Laksa. There are many Malaysian foods on the menu that haven't seen anywhere else but they are all typical Malaysian foods that you will never want to miss! Such as Rojak and Sarawak Kolomee!

Was really excited to find out that Kampung Style served Kampua Mee (on the menu it was named Sarawak Mee). I even fb-ed the store to verify that it was the dish I was looking for. Sadly, when we went there to try the dish, it was nothing close to what I was expecting.<br/><br/>I didn't expect them to use the same noodles, as it can only be found in Malaysia. But I was more disappointed that the taste was not even close. In saying that, it didn't taste bad or anything. It's still passable as a dish. Just not as the local dish loved by Sarawakians. <br/><br/>Other than that, I gave the restaurant another shot the next day. This time I ordered their egg noodles with wonton. This dish was delicious, and they were very generous with the wontons. Best wontons I've had so far in Auckland. Tasted like home.<br/><br/>My mates also ordered the usual: Kway teow, hokkien mee and laksa - they seemed happy with it. <br/><br/>If you're in the area and looking for Malaysian food, I'd definitely recommend this place. Just not for the Sarawak mee.

First of all, I am a big fan of Malaysian Food and have lived in Singapore for more than 10 yrs.  I have tried many Malaysian restaurants in Auckland including those well known name like Paparich etc.<br/><br/>And finally I found this little gem in the west.  I live one hour away from this place but come to this restaurants every fortnightly, as their food.... nothing can compare.<br/><br/>They have very good Fish head noodles, which comes with the sour pickles.  It is so nice and one of the must have item (if you like fish head noodles).  You won't be disappointed.<br/><br/>It is a struggle for 3 of us each time as there are too many yummy dishes that we love to try but also can't get away without eating our usual favorites.  Very difficult choices.<br/><br/>Get there for once if you never been there and I would say you won't get disappointed.  Their price is much more reasonable than those big names as well.

Having heard so much about KS and such positive reviews from Zomato, we were looking forward to tasting its food. The hosts were very friendly and we felt comfortable. <br/>Food wise, I only rate it as passable, more suited to the locals. In other words, too sweet and lacking the oomph. For example, the hokkien mee does not taste like the original and the laksa is just too creamy and sweet. So if you are looking for authentic Mysian food then plese look elsewhere.<br/>

Quite a small restaurant but nice and cosy. Food is really good and you can tell it's authentic. It's a good price for the amount of food and they have lunch specials for $10.90. The teh Tarik (Malaysian tea) is actually pulled creating that nice froth you see in the photos. Both the seafood laksa and hokkien mee was delicious. Will definitely be coming back to try more of their food!

I came here with my partner for the first time on a weekend lunch. We had Kampung Style Mee Goreng, which is Malaysian style fried noodles and Kampung Style ABC shaved ice. The smell and taste of the food is just like what I had in Malaysia! Price is also very reasonable. They were quite busy during lunch hour that tables inside were all full. It wasn't so pleasant sitting outside because it is winter. I really like the shaved ice with the red beans, corns, and evaporated milk.

Great spot - seems as popular for takeaways as eat in. Can be cold on an evening adore pretty open. Love the smoky flavour of the char kway teow!

Service is really good. They asked us twice about how is the food. We are not familiar with this Malaysia style food, so the actress described them thoroughly, seems she knew how is the taste like very well. <br/>Food is Okay because lm not quite keen on Malaysia food. They look nice, worth to try though.

In the last few months I have been there twice and it's not enough. Located directly on the train station gives this place a special kind of character.<br/>I have tried the rojak, roti, hokkien mee, laksa, curry puffs, beef rendang and egg gravy noodles. <br/>Everything is excellent. Portion size is good for the price. Service is good. First time I feel a Malaysian restaurant makes excellent noodles and rendang. Usually it's one or the other.<br/>My favourite dish is the laksa and hokkien mee but everything is superb. You won't be disappointed if you are a fan of Malaysian cuisine!

We had the Rojak, char kuey teoh, Hokkien mee and Wan tan hor and all was very tasty. Highly recommended and there was 7 of us and we all enjoyed it. Highly recommend this place. Although the place is quite small but the food is worth going for.

Needed takeaways for dinner as it was a long day... didn't want to go far & the rating/reviews on Zomato seemed good. Phoned an order through for lamb curry, fried rice, nasi goreng, char kway teow & beef noodles. Apart from the lamb needing to be more tender everything else was pretty good and hit the spot well. Service was easy - would try again when needed.

Went there for dinner on Sunday with the family. Helpful staff and really tasty food. We had the Nasi Lemak with Rendang; Char Kway Teow, Pandan Chicken, Chicken Noodles and Spring Rolls for the kids.  Good value for money.

Never disappointed with the food or service often get takeout from here and is just as nice as eating in. Roti canai & laksa are a must, though they do sell out of the laksa later in the night.

We came for lunch recently.  The place is not too big but pleasant.  The service was good and friendly.<br/>We ordered banana prawns with crispy noodle, wat dan hor and loh mee.  My friends love the taste and said the dishes were definitely "Malaysian". <br/><br/>So if you are keen to have a taste of "Malaysian" drop in to this place.  I think you will not be disappointed.

I finally get to try kampung style! I have been meaning to come here for ages! It is a long out of the way form me as i live in the city but it was worth the drive! <br/><br/>Tonight we had the fried pandan chicken, the mee goreng and the sambal eggplant. I have to say the sambal eggplant was to die for! I love the belacan flavour, and when we asked for spicy, both dishes were actually spicy! And they even gave us a little dish of cut chili with soy sauce on the side 👍🏻<br/><br/>The mee goreng was nice, but maybe because I'm indonesian I prefer it to be sweeter... but otherwise it was tasty! With lots of meat too! <br/><br/>Our waitress was so friendly and lovely! The service was very efficient! We didn't have to wait long for our meals.. and the portions were generous! <br/><br/>I can't wait to go back and try their prawn mee! And fish head noodle soup <br/>

A very cosy Malaysian cafe (with friendly staffs) in Glen Eden that has kept me addicted to their foods...Yum..Yum..Yummmmm... Their drink "Teh Tarik" is a MUST!!!

Traditional giants Selera and Paparich are usually mentioned when discussing ' Best Malaysian restaurants '. It's therefore a shame that Kampung Style is neglected because not only is it more authentic and better tasting, but their dishes are also cheaper. <br/><br/>Located out West, I was tempted to dine here after chatting with some older colleagues. Coming on a Saturday Lunch time, the restaurant was bustling with activity, which was a positive sign. <br/><br/>We ordered a Chaw Geow Teow and Curry Laksa and both came out in under 5 minutes. Efficiency. Our meals were substantial, flavoursome and according to my dinning buddy ' Smelled just like how it is in Malaysia '.<br/><br/>Showstopper: Authenticity and a homely feel.<br/><br/>Overall Grade: A-

Amazingly, delicious food, simply cooked and served. Cheap eat, very good portion style. Greatly enjoyed with family. Malaysian food is a great favourite of mine, I have eaten it in many countries of the world, I found this one well below average. I started with Chicken Satay, The chicken sticks were very oily and greasy, they left a nasty taste in my mouth for the rest of the evening. In my view chicken sticks should be made with breast meat, not these cheap fatty cuts. The Satay sauce was only just OK, at least it was made with roasted peanuts and not peanut butter, but I have had much better. The Beef Rendang was also below average, not well spiced or prepared and again had to cut fat from the meat, very unusual for a rendang. Staff were pleasant and service good, but in my view the food was not up to much.

Found out that there was a cafe serving food unique to Sarawak, Malaysia, so I had to sample it. Ordered Foochow Fried Braised Noodles. The pieces of fish meat deep fried and served in the soup/sauce had enough crunch and was yum. Portion was generous too. Washed it all down with teh tarik or "pulled tea." Came away satisfied. Will definitely be back.

YUMMO!! My son & I enjoyed a plate a Char Kuey Teow which had chicken, squid, fried pork & plenty of egg ( not just lots of noodles & beansprouts like in some other places). It tasted authentic. Will definitely frequent this cafe but perhaps ask them to cut back on the oil a bit.

Best Malaysian food in West!!<br/>Authentic Malaysian dishes at a very good price. Our food arrived perfectly on time and enjoyed our dinner in this cute restaurant. The food is really terrific and service is very friendly. Recommended for friends and family!! My little nephew loved his Godzilla milo drink!!

Loving this cute little kampung hut serving yummy Malaysian food. Easily accessible since right by the train station! <br/><br/>Ran by Sarawakians they serve some dishes unique to where they are from. <br/><br/>But I went with my standard char kuey Teow and really enjoyed it!!!! Fried goodness. Also tried prawn mee (yes they make their own paste) and the fishhead noodle. Very generous portions of fish. <br/><br/>Friendly service, cosy setting, my new favourite Malaysian!

A little gem of a place. Friendly staff and amazing food. Been here a few times now and every time the food is so flavourfull. Will certainly recommend their beef randang. It was so fragrant, delish and well seasoned. So far have tried Pandan wrapped chicken, Char kway teow, Rojak, Roti chanai and clay pot lamb curry. Would recommend all of them.

It might be a good thing that we live quite a distance from this little cute Malaysian eatery, or you may find us here every weekend. The place is next to the rail-way station, parking is never a problem for us. The food is authentic, generous and reasonably priced. Staff is friendly too. We have been here four times and always happy with our meals. We tried their nasi lemak, wan tan hor, laksa, prawn mee, satay, pandan chicken, curries, roti, curry puffs.. you name it, they all good. They have quite an extensive range of drinks too, my fav is their horlick. They allow doggies too so that's a big plus for an asian eatery. Highly recommend to others for an affordable yet delicious meals!

Really nice s/s pork and nice look . The staff is really friendly and the chef really nice guy ever . Love the cafe so much,they provide nice malaysia food such like char knew Teow, mee goreng , wah Dan ho and etc. they also provide the really nice drinks malaysian coffee ,it taste very very good...<br/>

Lovely local Malaysian restaurant easy go to for my family who enjoy good tasty noodle and rice dishes. They have generous servings and my favourite is the Nasi Lemak with the chicken curry cooked on the bone and Seafood Laksa, I always ask for extra sambal sauce. The service is friendly and attentive and highly recommend also try their pulled coffee if milking sweet coffee is your thing. Good parking and set in a little train house also seems really cool.

It's about time that Glen Eden had something enjoyable and affordable at the Trainstation platform. This wee restaurant is refreshing for this suburb!<br/><br/>I ordered takeaway from here last night on the way to pick my husband up from work which I was already running late for. When I arrived at the restaurant most of the tables were full and the staff were very busy. My order was not yet ready and they asked me to wait an extra 10 minutes it was a little frustrating but being that they are quite new and that the staff were extremely friendly, polite and apologetic it was easy to overlook this.<br/><br/>I ordered the Golden Fried Rice and it was delicious! Full of flavour with a combination of seafood and BBQ pork. The prawns were large and succulent and went beautifully with the fried rice, this was a great surprise when usually you are left with tiny over cooked shrimp. The flavour was great and the produce fresh only thing I would change would be to have more BBQ pork as there wasn't too much in my dish however because this may have been the case because they were in a rush.<br/><br/>Great food and portions and also really affordable prices which I'm all for!

Love everything on the menu especially the fuchow fish noodle! The restaurant has easy access parking and friendly staff with delicious food defienlty worth trying !

The honey chicken was divine and fresh. The Malaysian coffee one of the best coffees I've ever had. Good to have a restaurant where good quality food could be enjoy here in west Auckland. I would only recommend a better looking outdoor area to make customers feel they are in an enjoyable space and not in transit.

I have visited a couple of times and the staff are always so friendly. The prices are a little a bit higher than my usual cheap-eats hangouts but for the convenient West Auckland location (where there is little competition) this is not bad. The first time I visited I had the char kway teow, lor mee, and prawn noodles. Char kway teow is not bad but I felt like it was missing something umami/savoury from the aftertaste. Lor mee was new for me; it is served as a big bowl of egg noodles (the type used in a fried mee goreng) but the soup/gravy is like what you would have in a plate wat tan hor. Very nice, but if I wasn't sharing the dish I think the egg sauce would be too much sauce for me to enjoy. The prawn noodles are served in a flavoursome stock with gigantic prawns. This was by far my favourite of the three dishes on our first visit. I was a bit disappointed and confused as to why it was no longer available on the menu during my last visit! The curry chicken laksa from Kampung Style is just amazing. The right level of spice, a generous amount of coconut milk, and not watered-down at all! The chicken is also very succulent. The hokkien mee is great; lots of dark soy sauce and squishy noodles swimming in gravy. After our meal the waitress cared to ask how our food was and if we had hokkien mee before. My family is Malaysian so partner and I were very happy with the dish but she mentioned a good point that those new to the dish could find the black colour a bit scary.<br/>I'm glad this place has opened up and I hope they stay in business because quality Asian (particularly Malaysian) is a hard find out west! This is my new regular.

Came here after the recommendation by fellow foodie Stango . We were not disappointed having headed out all the way to west Auckland.<br/><br/>It is located in the old train station building in Glen Eden, so parking was a bit of a challenge near the railway side. There is a small carpark right outside but, its a quite hard to maneuver in. Its rather small and cosy and really does mimic the style of dining/decor you would see in Malaysia. Small restaurants/cafes, lots of fans on the ceiling, wooden tables and chairs and lots of people in and out for takeways or waiting for a table. So glad we made a reservation ! Make sure you make a reservation even if its a weekday night!<br/><br/>Curry puffs: they come in 5s and they were good! They use a different pastry to the ones you see at the shops or other places. It's more flakey but less like a puff pastry and more like a cookie pastry. Either way it was delish!<br/><br/>Nasi lemak: probably one of the tastiest ikan bilis (fried small fish) I've had. The curry chicken was cooked to perfection and not too overtly spicy. My sister has a peanut allergy and they kindly put the peanuts on the side for us.<br/><br/>Chicken laksa: I have to say I've had better but its not disappointing. It just needs tweaking with the flavour, much more coconut milk and much more spice's and shrimp paste. Does shallots would be good too.<br/><br/>Hainanese chicken rice: rice needs more chicken and pork oil drizzled over it. My dad disagrees but I guess it comes down to different taste palletes. The chicken was wonderfully cooked and flavoured. I really liked how they served the rice and chicken on separate plates so the sauce on the chicken wouldn't mix with the taste of the rice.<br/><br/>Fish head noodle soup: I loved how they used actually fish head and not chunks of ling fish meat that other Malay places use. Again I think the soup needs some tweaking mainly more seasoning. I was disappointed it didn't come with pork fat cubes in the soup. It's really the essential ingredient for that moreish feel.<br/><br/>Coconut shake: this is AMAZING! it was smooth and creamy and full of coconut goodness. We asked to see how they make it but, they wanted to keep it a secret. Which is totally alright. I think it's made with coconut water, coconut milk and ice cream blended with a bit of ice.<br/><br/>Teh Tarik (pulled milk tea): loved how they served real pulled milk tea! A lot of places say its teh tarik but really they're just serving you normal milk tea that's not pulled. Pulled milk tea are frothy and creamier in texture. Sweetened by condense milk and not evaporated milk + sugar. In comparison to HK milk tea, the tea and milk taste is less strong, but its more about sweetness and texture. You can differentiate this by the signature froth head on the top (think of it like the head of a beer).<br/><br/>I think kampung style has amazing potential. They've only been open for 2/3 months and word has not only spread amongst the Asian community but also the western community. There wasn't a time where seats were vacant while we were there. There are a few tweaks they will need to make here and there with their flavouring, but I understand each area of Malay has their own style of cooking. So it may be just that I'm bias towards one type.<br/><br/>PLEASE SELL YOUR SAMBAL SAUCE TO TAKE HOME ITS SOOO GOOD!<br/><br/>Food: 4/5<br/>Service: 5/5 (our server was kind, attentive, gave care to dietery needs, and very welcoming)<br/>Drinks: 5/5<br/>Atmosphere: 4/5 (very small but I guess gives it an authentic feel to Malaysia)<br/>Value for money: 5/5 ($20pp on average including drinks and appetiser. Portions are generous, we didn't managed to finish our food)<br/>

We dined here on a Friday. It would be a good idea to have a reservation as the place was pretty full by 7 PM. Food was phenomenal. Teh tarik and kopi are a must try

Lunched here with friends on Sunday 4 October 2015 - occupying 5 tables (33 people altogether) - yes, it was tight & cosy. Tried Char Kway Teow, Nasi Goreng, Hokkien Mee - all good and enjoyable. Mee Goreng - yummy. Would be 1 notch up if there were cubed potato. Curry Fish Rice - Excellent, thumbs up given by friends of indian origin. Good friendly accommodating service. Nice touch to have colourful plastic ware for kids. Keep up the good work!

Had dinner here tonight and the food was beautiful. My partner and I had the chicken curry with roti and the laska chicken. Both full of flavour with the right amount of spice. We also tried the iced lychee and the lime and cucumber drinks - they were very cool and refreshing. Will be back to try more of their yummy dishes. :)

This place is a canteen on the train platform itself which is really quaint for Auckland but a common set up in other cities. There are a few tables inside and some outside with nice cozy heaters. Service is excellent, the waitresses are friendly. Dropped by for some takeaways and was pleasantly surprised, the sambal chicken was tasty and a good portion. The garlicky taste overpowered the hint of sambal but I liked that the chicken wasn't battered like at other places. Looking forward to dining in and trying more of their food! Great to have more Malaysian places in the West!

Me and my wife ate here for dinner, ordered Nasi lemak and beef noodles and we loved it! The spice was just right, heaps of food choices and prices are fair. Location is awesome too just beside Glen Eden train station with heaps of parking. Will definitely come back!

Food was amazing. I ordered the curry Laksa and it was the best I have ever had outside of Asia. Nice friendly service too. Will back back soon (probably tomorrow).

We lunched here today. Began with curry puffs, followed by curry laksa chicken for him & kuay teow for me. Having both lived for many years in Malaysia we can vouch for the authentic flavours & ingredients of the kampong style food. And real Malaysian kopi!  So pleased you opened in Glen Eden. We'll be back!
