Review Po' Brothers - Auckland Central

Such a gem. Beautiful food. Fun fit out. My new favorite Thai!

Nice decor and welcoming, friendly staff. Good range of options on the menu and our meals were delicious; very flavoursome with good level of spice. Draft Orion was perfectly chilled.

went here for a birthday , the food was good and the service was good. great place for big groups, we did byo wine and had some good meals here i will probably eat rice dish if there will be a next time

Really great tasting food! Interesting Asian fusion which tastes amazing. Only issue I found is that this place gets extremely noisy which means you are shouting to the person next to you. We grabbed the set menu which came with a entree. Not sure what my dish was called but tasted amazing!

Po Brothers staff are super accommodating and have great service! We were able to get a table of 5 on very short notice, even though the restaurant was already busy. We ordered two bottles of Soju, the waiter noticed 20 minutes later that we had not drunk it yet, he took it back to fridge to keep in cold for us till we finished eating, this waiter was fab! He was funny, made jokes and recommendations on what to eat - loved him! We got the set menu with BYO - really great value, highly recommend it.

I dined in at Po’ Brothers in Ponsonby and was immediately impressed by the warmth and hospitality of the welcoming staff to seat me. The restaurant interior was black and sleek with orientalists lantern embellishments leaning to the Thai Isaan influenced cuisine. My entree of Prawn Blossom Rolls served with Japanese sesame sauce was divine and my main of Som Tam Salad, Grilled Chicken and sticky rice was exquisite, so fragrant and super hot and spicy as requested. Highly recommended with distinction!

Po’ Brother serves a good selection of Asian curries and noodle dishes! The service was really quick, nice work. We ordered the Pad Thai, Duck Curry, Red Curry and Pinang Chicken Curry. All the dishes tasted great and I would recommend the Pinang Chicken and Duck Curries; however we did find the Pad Thai overtly sweet. The serving sizes were a bit on the smaller size for the price (Curries ~$20) but mostly because you’ll probably need to add on a rather small bowl of rice costing $3. The price for corkage is $10 per bottle - reasonable for Ponsonby. One improvement could be include rice with the curries or have an option to order a large rice on the cheap! Overall decent food and service but there could be some improvements.

First time dining here and the food was divine! Thank you for the wonderful food and service. Highly recommended! 😊

Loved the food, atmosphere is great.. happy vibe. Nice service for a simple restaurant. Been there couple of times! Recommended

Delicious pad thai and amazing staff. Ben welcomed us with a big smile and made us feel very comfortable. We'll be back for sure!

Great place as we did not plan to go - food was good and fresh, tasty, small place with a small but great team to serve

Came here with friends for dinner on a Saturday night. The food was very tasty. The massaman curry especially was great. Portion sizes were a little bit on the small side, we were left a bit hungry after sharing 2 mains between 2 people. And having to pay $4 for the tiniest cup of rice when not included with the curry is frankly ridiculous. But the atmosphere was great and the wait staff were fun and friendly, overall really enjoyed our experience.

We had our work Christmas party with 20 people in thr upstairs private room. We had a blast with BYO drinks, speakers that support our own music, patient staff and great food! What more could you want!? Highly recommended and will definitely think of Po Brothers first when it comes to planning future large size parties!

Drunken Master Noodles are insane, one of the best noodle dishes I have eaten, full flavour punch. Spice was bang on, not overpowering but left nice warm glow in the mouth. For a Tuesday online order I couldn’t have asked for better. Only improvement would be to update website ordering times, I turned up 15mins before ready time and it had already been cooked. Squid was slightly on the chewy side but that may have been more the travel in takeaway container home. Will be back for sure!

Amazing, truly Thai legitimate foods, flavours and crew - 100% recommended !

Food was fantastic, very tasty and the waiters were attentive and very friendly.

Went with a group of friends to Po Bro’s for dinner and drinks on the weekend (Opp. Little Easy at the top of Franklin Rd). The ‘Ms Ho’s Som Tum’ was really tasty, with a good amount of spice and really fresh crunchy ingredients. The soft shell crab and pork belly included in the dish were tasty and a good addition to the traditional Som Tum dish - it balanced out the spice well. The ‘Pork Belly Chilli Jam’ was basically a really flavourful curry with tender pork belly - loved it. Thai Larb Salad is a personal favourite, but I’d never tried a duck one until here and I wasn’t disappointed. Try the crunchy chicken skin entree too. We ordered based on the staff’s recommendations, which was good because we had range of different dishes with different textures and tastes - Spicy, Zesty and Rich, which all balanced out nicely. It’s quite different to any other place in ponsonby. It’s not pretentious and is the type of place that if you have good company you can stay for hours rather than eating and moving on to bars afterwards. The vibe was good and so was the food. Chur Po Bro’s, I’ll be back to try the rest of the menu later!

Just finished one of the worst meals we have had in recent memory. Literally everything that can go wrong did. We arrived and what do they do? Give us the food menu but not the drinks menu. We had to ask for this again and wait an age. Our ordered drinks did not arrive until half of our food did. And then only one of our drinks came. A mocktail was ordered and out came a cocktail. Even after the cocktail was returned they took 20 minutes to give me what I ordered. A plate of rice came out without a serving spoon and we had to ask for spoons and forks to eat the rice. When used/finished plates were collected, these were randomly picked up with others left behind. In a city with increasingly high standards, this kind of service is totally unacceptable. Faked smiles and apologies aren't enough to make for service. Thanks for ruining our meal.

Went to Po Brothers after seeing after seeing the Seafood Tom Yum Noodle and Deep Fried Bao Bun pop up on my FB news feed. This place did not disappoint. The food was delicious, staff were friendly, and the intimate vibe accompanied by amazing decor making it impossible not to enjoy myself. The menu took center stage as the friendly waitress made time for our group of four, explaining what was the best way to order and making recommendations on what the 'crowd favourites' were. Can't wait to try the rest of the menu! Will be back for sure. It was the perfect way to start off the night!!
Chrissy Assmann
That was the best Asian fusion I've had in a while. Everything is full of flavour and tasted delicious. Cocktails are yum and to top it off the dessert bao was amazing. Everyone was really friendly! We will be back!!
Margaux Zajac
Po' Brothers is exceptional, the atmosphere is great and the food is so yum. We shared a few dishes, had the pork belly skewers for entree, mains - 3 Kings, beef brisket curry, char kway teow, stripper fried rice, all were amazing and highly recommend. We left feeling full and satisfied. Really well-priced as well. Can't wait to go back!
Chris von Batenburg
Damn, that was a tasty meal! We had the chilli jam pork & pad ka prao, both were full of flavour and had a nice spice to them! Dessert was amazing, we had the deep fried bao which was an interesting take on bao but definitely worth it. Service was friendly and the atmosphere was buzzing. I'll definitely be back!
Samara Paxton
We came for dinner and were so so impressed! The staff were friendly and so helpful. We ordered the pork belly skewers which were to die for, as well as the chicken satay skewers which were amazing too. We also ordered the pad Thai, and the chilli jam pork belly which were both so nice and flavoursome! 10/10
Emma Charman
Really nice & helpful staff, a bit slow on the service, some of the food was really nice and some was average, one of our cocktails was really yum and the other was the worst I've ever tasted. Only came here based on all the 5 star reviews but wouldn't rush back.
Roxy Tillie-Gibson
Honestly haven't had a good meal in Auckland that takes me back to authentic Thai flavours like you have. The beef brisket jungle curry and satay skewers are highly recommended. Thank you for taking us back to fond memories with all these non-westernised flavours!
Ian Rankin
Food was delicious and service was awesome. Definitely recommend this place to anyone!!

Ordered a few small dishes, unimpressed with the fresh speing rolls, all there was, was lettuce in them? $9 for lettuce...mmm. Asked a waitress about this but her english wasnt great, eventually talked to someone else. Crunchy chicken wasnt anything to write home about. And at the end of our meal the waitress made a very sarcastic comment about how long we were there, really??! Unfortunately i was in high hopes but truely disappointed:(

Great food, Chicken wings and pork belly were stunning. Great service and a cool atmosphere. Glad we found this place, will be back again soon!

Lovely service, delicious food, great sharing concept. We thoroughly enjoyed.

I'm in love with this place!! Chicken satay my fave

This was a new restaurant to us. We emailed to book a table online. It was so lucky that someone cancelled his booking and we got to try this Thai restaurant.

We were seated on second floor and we were the only family on second floor as it was quite early. The upstairs dining area was painted red with some old fashioned ladies newspaper type of decor on the wall. The red light hanging on the ceiling was dimmed to the minimum and it felt so uneasy. We then asked the waitress to turn the light brighter.

The food was seriously good! We had pineapple fried rice, pad Thai, fish cake, fried chicken wings and Tom Yum. Ok this was one of the few best Thai food we ever had in NZ. And the food was not too expensive and in good size portion. You got to try it by yourself. Very highly recommended but book before you visit to avoid disappointment.
Nathalie
We had a lovely experience here, the service was great and the food was excellent! We had the pad thai, spare ribs and beef panang curry - all dishes were spot on with flavours and serving size were decent (one dish is good for two people). Will definitely be back to try other dishes!
Ashish Chanana
Highly recommend this place 👍🏻 Great food and Super friendly staff. Thank you Om for a great experience 😊 You are doing a brilliant job!!!
Daniel Harrison
Decor was pleasant, and fit the theme of their service/dining perfectly. atmosphere was welcoming. Drinks were on point👌 Shame we didn't get to try the menu as w had already eaten but for the short while we were there we enjoyed every moment of it. It must be popular as the place was filling up fast! Definitely will return for a meal!
Pras Haryanto
I went there with my gf to try their whole fish dishes but they ran out of whole fish and hadn’t restocked yet, which is understandable because whole fish dishes might not be too popular amongst their main target audience.

What’s interesting is, after a short convo with the owner (that he then knew I am a regular at Chom Na and Zap, 2 other Thai restaurants owned by his uncles & aunties), he told us that the chef could make the dishes more of asian-style rather than kiwi-style (their default). Described by him as “having more punch; more spicy, more sour, more everything” (not exact quote), we went with it - as he thought we would enjoy the more-authentic style of Thai cuisines.

It turned out to be great - one of the best Thai foods we’ve had in Auckland. We were glad we chose the Asian-style options. So, if you can handle the true South East Asian flavours (packed with more spices), you should definitely ask him to ask the chef for it. Otherwise, maybe you’d enjoy the mild version (westernised - a more balance of everything, no dominant flavour) more.

Ordered the spring rolls the vegetarian pad Thai and then the vegetarian green curry. The drinks were cheap and the food was good. We definitely overdid it as we had to unbutton our pants 😳🙄 the tofu in the noodles were actually cooked really well. The green curry was ordered medium and it had a really good spice to it. Unfortunately there was a huge party in there who were extremely rowdy so we didn’t want to spend to much time in there
Veronica Te
Po Brothers is really run by two brothers! char kuey teow is really delicious with fresh rice noodles! However it took 30mins! I was offered a complimentary drink but would rather they gave a more accurate wait time than take double the time estimated.
Riddhi
Ordered here for Uber eats, meal did take a little while to get prepared and delivered but was really worthwhile.

We ordered the Tom yum soup with chicken, panang curry with chicken and drunken master noodles. The serving sizes were all large and extremely flavoursome. Loved my panang curry as it had lots of chicken and was spicy like how I ordered. The only downside is we were charged for rice and it was a tiny portion - definitely nowhere near enough for the amount of curry provided.

Will definitely still come back because the food was delicious though.
Rao
It's not terrible, it actually fills a void for a BYO in Ponsonby and is very group friendly. Comparing this outfit to other thai places in the same price range (and lower), this is actually below average. Taste isn't there but I can see the attempt.
Sabrina Hea
Service was super lovely. Had no problem using zomato gold here. Food was quite nice- my friend ordered the pad golden which I had a bit of and quite liked! Would love to come back and try other dishes.
Sophia Miller
I’ve been here about three times and every time I get amazing service! The meals are responsibly priced and the food is always delicious! Pad Thai and the green curry are my go-to’s when ordering here.
Ruchita Choukar
Amazing food. Amazing customer service. Will visit again

Love love love this place! I got the roast duck curry and the pork belly skewers. I love the duck and for what its worth, it was pretty filling. The pork skewers however were not my type. It was my fault anyway since I never really liked pork so i dont really know why I ordered it. The food is great. The only reason I placed 4/5 is because it can get very loud inside that I wanted to leave already.

Have been to Po Brothers twice now, was hoping they'd sorted their service out after a bad first experience, but unfortunately not. It's a great spot, good vibe and the food is ok, they just don't seem to care about service.

Had to hunt someone down each time I wanted to get a drink, the food took a long time to come out and my dish in particular was about 10 minutes after the rest of the table - which happened last time.

Also, is one toilet for a restaurant of that size allowed? Makes for some decent queues on a Sat night!
Mark Renz Ruiz
Had high expectations of this place. The food was delicious and the ambiance is cozy and relaxing. The dishes are priced right definitely for the quality that was given. Will be back for more! ^^

Service : 4.5/5
Ambience : 4/5
Food : 4.5/5

Omg the duck curry and roti was so good 😭😭😭😭 🦆 🦆 🦆 So crisp .. and so greasy.. and so chewy ...

The place was a little bit smaller than I thought and it got really crowded and loud around 8pm so we left as soon as we finished our meal. When you’re looking for a large place to accommodate a work dinner or birthday dinner, this isn’t the place.

Food is food — everything was amazing, and definitely would come back for the roti !

The food is excellent and very well priced. The service is also great! Have been there several times and their curries and starters have always been consistent. Recommend!!

Po Brothers is definitely my favourite restaurant in Auckland. My favourite things on the menu are the prawn cakes, pork belly skewers, drunken noodles, chicken cashew nut stir fry. Alway a good experience here, and food always delivers. Great value for money too especially in Ponsonby! 10/10
Non Suspicious Russian
i had chicken satay first off was not really happy about rice being extra whats up with rice being extra $ on ponsonby road?
it was sweet BUT nice overly it had a slight hint of sweet along with the fire of the wok taste how the hell do they balance it perfectly is beyond me its super amazing nice chili heat to it that isnt overpowering the balance of flavors is just really really good
the most tender beef i have ever tasted in at least 5 years blew my mind
i reconmend! i can only imagine how beautiful their duck would taste like
Dxlche
Good food and good service. Can’t go wrong with duck red curry and pad Thai. The duck curry was flavoursome and had lots of duck meat. The pad Thai wasn’t too sweet and had a good ratio of nuts. Overall would recommend for a dinner out as the price wasn’t too expensive either.
Georgia Vossen
Small restaurant but such an amazing little vibe! Byow, friendly staff, absolutely stunning mouthwatering food! Recommend! Will definitely be back to this little gem
Dine With Ella
Been to the Po Brothers a few times but tonight was just a bit off. For entrees we shared the karaage chicken, satay chicken and pork belly skewers. For main I had the massaman curry. Food was just okay - as every dish was quite unbalanced. All a bit too sweet unfortunately. Also, they brought out our mains before we had even finished our entrees, which was really annoying.
Bayley
Best Thai fusion ever and we have had a few!!! Cheap dinner and really fast to arrive. Massaman curry cannot be missed. Peanut satay is also a delish option. The ugly roti is really beautiful. $9 corkage though which hurts my heart and bank account, should reconsider that price 💔
Anna K
This is one of the best places to go for Thai byo. The food is fantastic and has a great atmosphere. Would definitely recommend coming here!

Not once did I see the bottom of my glass, the water was being constantly filled throughout the night. The lanterns made me feel as if I was back home (I had lanterns in my last flat) and the little kitty’s by the door are so welcoming, they made me feel SO safe :) The corkage was $10 which I thought was a bit steep for a poor uni student - yeah I study XD but overall, 5 stars lads.
Amanda Ngan
A friend and I ate here - service was friendly and attentive, portions were great, dishes were tasty (we ordered seafood and chicken stir fry noodle/ rice dishes, prawn cakes). Unfortunately, I vomited from food poisoning a few hours later.
М-я Б-з
Ordered a vegetarian stir fry, mild. Got at least a medium. Spent the night with a burning mouth that alcohol couldn't cool. Otherwise, exactly what you expect from a decent BYO.
Tania Aroha
OMG !! Spectacular food. Got the Char Kuey Teow and the pork belly skewers on Uber Eats. Both were absolutely delicious. Char Kuey was spicy, with lots of sauce, strong flavours and noodles were soft and light. The pork belly skewers were SO good, tender, delicious and the fat was really well rendered, melt in your mouth. Was very generous sized, could have easily fed 2 people for less than $30. Will definately be back and thoroughly recommend.
Utkarsh Vora
Hands down one of the best Thai spots in Ponsonby that is actually very reasonably priced too! Their basil stir fry never fails to deliver and BYO is an added bonus!
Sylvester Kuo
Po’ Brothers offers a nice menu of traditional Thai cuisine, the atmosphere is Asian fusion. I think the waiters really needed to improve their English, I asked for spicy but got no spice at all in the end. When I was paying for corkage the poor English also created some inconvenience.

The corkage was too dear in my opinion, $10 per person was disincentive for dining in (hence why I saw many Uber eats orders instead).
Jason Zhang
Came here on a Wednesday night for dinner. It was empty when we came but there were a lot of ubereats orders. The service was really good as the waiter was really attentive and caring.

Pad Thai - although the portions aren’t as big as the other restaurants, the taste is the same as you would expect from other good Thai restaurants - sweet and sour.
Sizzling beef - the sizzling beef, although looks the same as the sizzling black pepper beef in other Chinese restaurants, it tastes very different and delicious. However it was a little bit too salty to my taste but the rice helps a lot with this.
Stir fried duck - very similar to the sizzling beef, the crunchiness if the vegetables gives the extra texture. The dish is a bit salty as well
Pork skewers - the dish of the night even though it was just a starter with 3 skewers. The pork pulls off the skewers and melts in your mouth very easily. The sweet and sour salsa on top lifts the bbq flavor of the pork nicely.

The price came to around $80 which was very reasonable and worth it in terms of the food and service together.

Taste - 8/10
Size - 8/10
Price - 8/10
Service - 9/10

Great place! Their food was amazing and we didn’t have to wait long for it to arrive which is always a plus! There were two bad things tho, they forgot to bring out my sisters food and we found one little hair In the cookies and cream bao but these were easily resolved by the staff which was great. This was a great place overall and definitely recommend their food!
Hangrygirl
The beef curry is the BEST! Nice casual spot with affordable Thai. So yummy I love this place! It’s also BYO wine too which is so hard to find in Ponsonby
Laura Oliveira
Went here for dinner on the 7th of March. Ordered the satay chicken to start, it was very dry with barely any flavour probably one of the worst I've had unfortunately. Secondly we ordered chicken and prawn pad Thai and the garlic beef stir fry as our mains, we also ordered two lemon lime and bitters at the same time. The mains came out quickly however our drinks only came out after we had already started eating our mains, the restaurant was very quiet might I add. Once we finally got our drinks they were just sprite with a slice of lemon, when we specifically asked the waitress if the LLB would be bar made. Over all the service and starter were below average however, our mains were tasty.
Victoria Jenner
Really pleased with my experience here. It's was my partners birthday and we had 20 guests. There was a number of food preferences in the group and they were very accomadating allowing me to remake a set menu just for us at a still really affordable price. The food was amazing. Byo wine as well just to top it off, if that wasn't enough.

Looking for positives is relatively easy at P.O. Bros. Charming and attentive service, stunning decor and a great choice of Asian dishes. However if you are diabetic stay clear. Every dish we tried tasted super sweet! Now i know sugar is added to Thai food to help enhance the flavours but the chef was heavy handed with the white stuff. Which is a shame as the food would be so much better without the sticky sweet flavour.

Turned up on a Saturday before it got busy for dinner.
Their menu could be upgraded and presented better rather than a pink A4 food-up pamphlet; nevertheless they have a decent variety of Stir-Fries and Curries and Entrees. The restaurant is nicely decorated, with lanterns hanging from the ceiling and small pickle jars sitting on a high shelf, lined with paintings.

We got the Blossom Spring Rolls, Raging Sizzler (Beef) and The Red King Curry (Duck) with sides of white and black sticky rice.

Spring rolls were refreshing! Their peanut and sesame sauce really elevated the enjoyment of it; otherwise the rolls itself were a bit bland, and also quite loosely packed.
Duck Curry was decent, though duck was a bit over cooked and lost its original tenderness of duck meat. Curry sauce was creamy but a bit oily in my opinion. Bok coy was a nice addition though!
Sizzling Beef was good! Nicely caramelised in a punchy and flavoursome sauce! Beef pieces were a bit hard and tough to eat though; as they should be soft and tender.

Overall it set us back by $60 exact. It was a average experience, but maybe ordering their well-known dishes would have been a better choice.

Food: 7/10
Price: 7/10
Ambience: 7/10
Service: 7/10
Ryan Wong
Great indoor decorations, fairly quiet on a Saturday however saw a few Uber eats orders go out, perhaps the high raters were due to those who did not have face the service in person which was poor! I came in with four of my friends and we each ordered 2 dishes each of which 2 dishes didn't even arrive and all dishes were served after 45 minutes of waiting when it was only 2 groups in the entire restaurant, the waitresses were there the whole time, looking and not even seeing if everything was alright. The food was fine, nothing to rave about and not bad either and okay prices. Friends and I most likely won't be returning 👎
Kristy.yap
Ordered the basil stir fried pork, ugly roti, chicken skewers and hand made prawn cake. Everything was delicious.

Only suggestion would be to install an air conditioner because it gets quite hot during summer and the experience would have been much more enjoyable if the temperature in the restaurant was cooler.
Helen Phillips
Such great food - We frequent Thai restaurants and the food here was next level. Nice location and quite a small intimate setting . BYO corkage fee was $10.00 but other than that, great service and great food.

My favourite Thai place in Ponsonby. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, good food and prices and also BYO. The Papaya salad and the fresh spring rolls are my favourites!
Aimee.
The portions here are large and generous. The food is tasty and authentic and comes out very fast. Prices are really reasonable for the quality you get and size of the dish. We ordered the green vegetarian curry, chicken massaman curry, roti, rice and a beer each. We struggled to finish everything. The staff here are friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is really cool/chill with nice decor and paintings.

Didnt take any photo of my food this time round.

I love the deco simplicity and the ambience too. Trendy crowd and so much hype with noise n laughter...which is great to get your night started.

The staff is really friendly and our food arrives really quick. The chicken skin is really yummy n the portion of the currys are not bad too.

Overall...i really love this place n definately a must for you groupies out there. 🤗🤗

This place has been sitting on my bookmarks for a while along with a few other ponsonby joints. So I decided we would go here for my birthday dinner.

We arrived sometime after 8 and were promptly seated. We were given a decent amount of time to decide what to order along with a wee while to wait for our drinks/food. At one point I thought they had forgotten my drink but all was well as I got it in the end. Super yummy too but a bit on the small side maybe? I dunno?

The food... We ordered the rich boy (satay chicken skewers), the khan (pork belly skewers), a ugly puffy roti, rice, the red king (red thai chicken curry) and a beef raging slizzer.
The chicken skewers were drizzling in crunchy peanut sauce and the chicken was tender. The pork belly skewers for amazing! So tender and juicy (the fat of the pork belly obviously helping with that). I found that they would be best shared due to the fatty cut of meat and it's a but much to have them all.
We didn't have to wait long at all for our main/large dishes to arrive. The sad thing was our rice took 5 plus minutes to arrive after our mains. While we were waiting for the rice my food was still cooking on the hot plate which resulted in it being overdone.

Overall the food was yummy, the atompshere is more of a group dining experience and even better as it's BYOW. It's quite dark in there, unsure whether you would need to book in as we arrived late, but definetly leave time to find a park! Even at 8pm it was a bit of a mission!
Cole
Oh my goodness I can not stress enough the awesomeness of this restaurant! For me personally service can always make or break a dining experience, and this service was incredible! The two young lovely girls were so attentive and bubbly, I would return for the service alone.

Then we have the pork belly skewers and chicken karage small plates. And my god where they delicious! I could've just had plates of those for the evening I think! I then shared a main with my boyfriend of cashew chicken stirfry! Was so so flavoursome, because sometimes you can get stirfry that's just quite bland slop but this was amazing!

All in all if you haven't been get yourself there now!
Harry
I had really high hopes for this venue and unfortunately it severely underperformed. The food was bland and the service was subpar. The only redeeming feature was the dessert.
Lucyeatsakld
Had a nice weeknight dinner here. Got the pad thai which had lots of fresh ingredients. The portion was huge but not so generous with the number of shrimp in there. Food came out very quickly and service was efficient. Good place for a date night or catch up with friends in pononsby at a reasonable price.
Adrian Francis Valle
I just had a very amazing dinner here at Po brothers. I really love the food, the ambiance is really good. I definitely recommending this place. :)
Johann Go
Decent food and atmosphere. However, it took nearly 90 minutes for all the food to come out. While they were busy, and while we did have over 15 diners in our group, it was still an incredibly long time to wait. Food also came out at different times for different members of the party. Corkage is also ridiculously steep - something like $12-15 per bottle, from what I recall reading on the menu.

Came here for a casual Wednesday date night after walking past here a few times and seeing it quite busy a few times other nights. We ordered the chicken larb, drunken master noodles, prawn cakes and the po chok chicken wings and all dishes did not disappoint! The flavours were vibrant and not overly rich and overwhelming (and some spicy the way I like it!) We also had the best service from both the lady who served us and the man who made us surprise cocktails which were delicious with a kick to them! And it's BYO, so defs will be bringing a bottle next time! Will definitely be back ☺️
Temptation Cakes Auckland
Went on a busy lions tour all blacks game night so was packed. We got our mains when only half way through entrees so asked if they could hold them for 5 minutes which they did but then came back warm not hot so that was a bit of a bummer.
The food though was DELICIOUS highly recommend if not a full on busy night 🙄
Jeffie
A nice little cosy place for a date night, the staff are your usual standard and friendly. A bit dim and warm inside with a relaxing vibe, it was great.

We asked for everything together if possible, having the chicken wings, chicken skins, green chicken curry and beef stir fry. Everything was brought out fast and was delicious.

The only slight complaint I have (we didn't mention it as it wasn't a really big deal) is that there was a tiny bug that landed on the beef stir just after it was brought to the table, we just pushed that bit to the side but maybe the place could benefit from some bug barrier or something.

First time here was a great experience, would have rated 4+ for the PoBonBap and sizzling beef, service was good, great location and a plus for BYO.

Second time round with a small group of friends, only 6 people. Main dishes were served at different times, about a 15 minute wait in between all the meals arriving for everyone.

Tried the chilli chicken, lava chicken and green curry. Food was pretty good, although lava chicken could have been much tastier with a larger variety of vegetables, rather than just beans, and just chicken. Chilli chicken was my personal fave, nice balance of flavours and good range of ingredients, colours etc.

Rating due to service, not impressed at all with the waitress clearing the dishes while people were still eating, got the impression they wanted us to finish up quickly and leave? Wait time was also a big question mark, especially being the first table in the restaurant for the night.

Came here on a quite Tuesday night and was pleasantly suprised! I felt like I had booked out the whole restaurant as really no one else turned up till around 7.45. This would be another fusion south East Asian with a dominant Thai influence I would say. Even though the restaurant was empty half the night I could see lines of uber eat drivers picking up take away like ur regular Chinese fish and chip shop.
We ordered a few dishes just to try as the lady that served us was a bit misleading with the portion with her hands; they were all huge dishes!
The chicken karage came first and it was nice and crispy with corn flake coating! Very well fried and seasoned well, did come with average sweet chilly sauce on the side which I didn't really care for.
We had the 3king salad which consisted of salad with deep fried shrimp and squid and soft shell crab. It was nice but I would recommend eating this fast, as the deep fried food will soak up too much of the salad dressing and the salad.
The fried noodle we order was prob the most average dish, bit sweet for my liking and did not have the charred taste it should have from a wok.
The lamb curry was to die for! Lamb rack the meat just comes off the bone and melted in the mouth; while the curry was so tasty I had to eat an extra serving of roti for it.
The roti I would say is a must try! It was huge and it was nice because it was deep fried and fluffy!

Food: 4/5 mostly good! Enjoyed everything even though some of the food I did not enjoy on personal level.
Service 3.5/5 nice and friendly, but not too good with portion control or just new. I did ask how big the portions were and unlike a few good place I went the server was good to point out if I ordered too much.
Instagramable 3.5/5 waitress were in cool outfit, interior had a few good deco, nothing special and a bit dark inside.
All I can say is wow. All the food that we had was so delicious. We had a 6pm booking and being a Friday night was asked if we could be done by 8pm which was fine with our group of 5. The decor was mice and the ambience was too. Really popular restaurant with diners dining in and for takeaways. Even uber food was frequently picking up food.

So we ordered a few starters and mains because that's the best way to eat here I think. We ordered chicken wings, pork belly skewers which were my favourite. We ordered whole fried snapper, soft shell crab with pork belly, pad Thai, curry lamb, chicken large and a couple other dishes which all were very tasty and delicious. I do recommend booking a table as they had to turn away a few people the night we were there.

I'm looking forward to my next visit.

A new(ish) favourite! Delicious food at reasonable prices - some of the same delicious dishes at sister restaurant, @Bangkok Kingsland. Can be a slow turnaround on orders because they're super busy with takeaway/ubereats/in restaurant orders. Atmosphere is really nice and staff are attentive and friendly.

Well priced and big servings. Had the chilli chicken wings and pork belly skewers. Delicious. Try the mango coconut sago dessert - so unusual. It was sort of salty and sweet with a tart mango icecream. Would go back for that alone. They are BYO as well as licensed. Service waa a bit so-so but that's ok it was adequate.

Wow, yum yum yum! We came later on Friday night and was quiet in there.
Staff where still very friendly and the food was delicious!
The potatoes on mine were slightly under cooked but the flavor and the lamb made up for that, that's for sure! will defiantly be back. ps. The 'ugly puffy roti' was BOMB!

Love love love ! Great service amazing food and lovely atmosphere 😊 will be back in no time I'm
Sure ❤️ went after the pride parade for a snack and could not be happier, have heard lovely reviews from my friends and it does live up to the expectations no doubt!

Great spot on Ponsonby road
Staff were friendly.
Fresh prawn spring rolls were super delicious - could've eaten buckets of them!
The rest of the dishes we chose were fried and so we left feel a little over indulged. I'm sure if wedv ordered a little better we wouldn't have felt that way.
Po’ Brothers is a Pan-Asian restaurant located in Ponsonby, and the affordable prices with generous portions served without pretentiousness is exactly what makes it stand out from the rest of the street. I came here a while ago to meet up with a bunch fellow food enthusiasts and I am glad it did not disappoint. The restaurant is small and intimate (aka dimly lit but it’s all part of the atmosphere). The dishes at are meant for sharing, so it’s best to come with a group so you can make the most of the menu.

*****
I've been seeing a lot of photos on Facebook and the food looks delicious so decided to finally try it out! I was not disappointed at all. Usually I cant handle chilli but the flavours were just too good that it was worth it.

There was so much I wanted to try on the menu but ended up getting
-The three kings - the flavours in this dish are amazing. a must buy if you're not allergic to seafood
-Asian Pride rice burger - if you're hungry get this. it looks small but is heavy and full of flavour
-Rich boy chicken satay - was a bit too hot for me but if you like chilli then it's all good.
-Char Kuey Teow - Rice noodles with beef and pork belly - so simple but delicious!!
-Ugly puffy roti - I recommend dipping your roti into the dressing of the three kings. So yum!!

It's also so cool how they have different parts of the menu depending on how much you want to spend so it's great for groups who have friends with different incomes.

Will definitely be back to try out the rest. Well done Po'Brothers!!

Our new Asian fusion go-to in Ponsonby! I would recommend making a booking, as they are only open for dinner their table’s fill up fast. The interior is well presented with a modern and chic vibe to it. Love the giant lanterns hanging from the ceiling and the pop of colour from the neon sign.

The service was very good - the staff were friendly and attentive. Once we were seated our waitress gave us a brief introduction to the menus and that each dish would be served when it was ready (and not necessarily all together). Thanks for the heads up, because it can be a little frustrating if your not aware. We ordered three dishes between us, which we thought was plenty for dinner. They were slow to serve but once the first dish come out the other two followed not long after.

The ‘Guilt free’ spring rolls were well presented and a great light and healthy option. As we went to dig in, we noticed some prawns in the rolls. As they were on the vegetarian menu we questioned if maybe the menu did say prawns? ‘No these should not have prawns’ our waitress confirmed. Very apologetic she rushed off with the dish to the kitchen for a replacement. If my partner wasn’t vegetarian we wouldn’t have bothered to flag it. Once returned the rolls were fresh and boy, was that Japanese sesame sauce good! We cleaned it up easily and could’ve finished off some more.

The Po’ Chon vegetables…hands down the best version of tempura vegetables we’ve had. At first glance I worried the vegetables might be soggy, as they were saturated in sauce. But the batter was crispy (just how it should be) and that spicy Bon Chon sauce was to die for. The dish was generously portioned and had a good selection of vegetables and also tofu. Definitely worth trying!

The Pad thai noodle vegetable was fresh, tasty and a decent portion. The vegetarian option only had two pieces of tofu but the size of the dish made up for it. Not badly priced at $15 too.

With so many Asian fusion restaurants around it easy to make comparisons, but Po Brothers has made its mark for us. The service was very good and the dishes were memorable. Our dinner was also very
reasonably at $39 for two. We will definitely be back, and with my partner working across the road, we have our fingers crossed they will be open for lunch service soon.

As a HUGE fan or Bangkok Kingsland I was super excited to try Po Brothers. Unfortunately it was a total let down for my partner and I :( The service was terrible...it took 15 minutes for the waiter to come take our order even though no one was in the restaurant, another 15 minutes to bring our wines over. No water offered. The food was so bland...we ordered a beef curry and it was so tasteless and watered down. We also ordered a Pad C Ew and karaage chicken dish. All the dishes just had a very greasy taste to them and nothing on the quality of Bangkok. When I asked our waiter for guidance on wine choice he just said he wasn't sure. Perhaps due to coming from a BYO background but if they're in Ponsonby they really need to expand their knowledge.

Excited to try the relatively new Po Brothers on Ponsonby Rd. It's Asian Fusion, but is a positive & different addition to the other Asian Fusion restaurants in the area.
All the dishes we ordered (which was most of the menu as we had a large group) were enjoyed & were fresh, tasty & reasonably priced. They even have a full vegetarian menu. Unfortunately did not get pictures of all as we were too busy chatting.
Favourite dishes were the chicken satay skewer, pork belly with soft shell crab & papaya salad, the roti and the chicken & vegetarian pad Thai. The deep fried Bao with ice cream was unique & innovative, but wasn't the best dessert we'd tried as the bun is very very crispy. The 4 flavours were delicious though.
Drinks menu has a great range of craft beers & wines.
Service was good, although there was a mix up with a few dishes there was an apology & it was put right without fuss.
Looking forward to visiting again soon!

Tasty and delicious. Loved all the different flavours and cuisine types you could get.
Service was fast and friendly.

Top picks:
Lamb Curry- loved the curry. Really well flavoured with a sweet hint of coconut. Lamb was tender.
Tom yum noodles - nicely seasoned and generous amount of seafood.
Chicken wings - crispy coating smothered in a delicious sauce.
Fried chicken skin - who doesn't love fried food

The roti was crispy but felt too greasy for my liking.

Came here for a night off cooking, ordered the 3 kings, jungle curry, pork belly skewers &a prawn sashimi. I was very excited to try as the photos looked amazing!!!
I hate to say it but we're really disappointed. Firstly the table who arrived after us got there orders taken before us... we had to pull someone aside to order. The prawn sashmi we couldn't finish it was quite strange almost made me gag. The pork and the need were very dry nothing succulent about it at all. The presentation was amazing the sauces used delish but the meat it's self wasn't cooked to what we expected. The theee kings was def the high light.

Po' Brothers, a new outfit just around the corner from where I live.
You're a very brave soul opening up a restaurant serving Thai and Malay styled dishes in Auckland these days. With so much steep competition from Moo Chow Chow, Mekong Baby, Kiss Kiss, White & Wongs, Woodpecker HIll, Farang, Blue Breeze Inn, (the list goes on) you need to make your mark and do your thing well.

The service is lovely here, very prompt and attentive. A selection of wines we hadn't tried before which we were a little excited about. After ordering a glass of wine each, soon after our food orders were taken. within 10 minutes all of our dishes were plonked in front of us (!?). Never have I experienced food being so hastily prepared and delivered. I doubt whether I could serve myself at a buffet quicker than what Po Brothers served us this evening.

The waitress serving us did say the dishes will be brough out as they are ready, we had no idea they'd be ready so soon. Makes me think there might be a case of sacrificing freshness of food for convenience of delivery?

The dishes we tried tonight unfortunately didn't quite meet our expectations.

The Hand Made Prawn Cakes were crispy and had just enough prawn meat in them to know they hadn't been diluted down too much. Why do Asian restaurants feel the need to squeeze Kewpie (Japanese Mayo) over anything that's deep fired !? STOP IT! It doesn't need it! It bogs the dish down, the dipping sauce served was more than enough to compliment the cakes.

The Soft Shell Crap with Pork Belly and Papaya salad is a visually appealing dish but I feel could do with a bit of refinement. The Pork Belly not quite as tender as expected, the soft shell crab was mostly deep fired batter. The Papaya salad worked well to cut through the richness here.

Lastly the Beef Brisket Jungle Curry. Again visually stunning, looking at it, it reminded of the Goat curry at Moo Chow Chow. The beef really needed another hour or so of cooking time. At Po Brothers, you're given a plate, chop sticks, a spoon and a fork to eat with (no knife), I have no problems with this, but you need to make sure the meat you serve is tender enough that your patrons don't need a knife to cut. I should be able to slide either my fork or spoon through this brisket and have it fall apart, sadly this was not the case.

Counter intuitively, the Ugly Puffy Rotti we had forgotten we'd ordered was delivered just as we were finishing our meals. Perhaps one of the strangest experiences for delivery of food I've come across. Being so close to home and reading other reviews I think I'll definitely return to Po Brothers to give them another nudge. After all, $65 for dinner for two + wine is not bloody bad at all, definitely a factor to take into account.

Wow fantastic! Who would've thought we could squeeze another funky modern Asian tapas restaurant onto P Rd. Even on a Tuesday nite this place was packed out, we waited patiently outside for quite a while till we got a table :-) Inside the decor is cutting edge, relaxed and the dark lighting perfectly creates a chilled environment conducive to enjoying creative cuisine. I wasn't that adventurous going for pad thai, but the dessert of sago with mango ice cream was superlative.

Dined here on a Tuesday evening and the place was pumping! Good vibes. Food was amazing. Particularly enjoyed the lamb dish and the chicken wings were amazing!

If you're wanting that VIP vibes, defs come before the 6pm rush like we did 😜. The food was delicious, great customer service and good explanations of how to order, we took on the house recommendation and boy did it not disappoint. Pictured is the pad Thai, the chicken wings and the pork belly chili jam, honestly go and try it now, you won't regret. YUM

Came here for dinner on a Thursday night, quite a small place so definitely should book if you are going in a big group. We came here with people who had already been and they suggested that we order the "Ms Ho Som Tum" (soft shell crab with pork and a papaya salad) which I thought was pretty good so I was hoping for good things but from there it just kind of went downhill.

I dont know if it's cause we ordered similar dishes but we all felt that every dish just had the same sticky sweet/spicy sauce on it like the Po Chon Chicken wings, seafood chilli lava (which barely had any flat noodles in it, we had to look for it and it literally was 2 or 3 pieces of flat noodle at the bottom), and the 3 kings, they all had this sweet sickly sauce to it.

On a good note, the pad thai was good and the jungle curry was just ok, definitely had better curries elsewhere. We also ordered the deep fried bao which looked amazing on facebook and it didn't disappoint, loved the whole combination.

Overall, I'm not sure if I would come back here. There are definitely better thai/asian places to visit.

Chicken wings are off the hook, as well as satay and pork belly skewers. Tom yum soup is also a fave. Could eat a ton of their ice cream baos. Service was awesome and felt every item was great value, especially for Ponsonby Rd. I'll be back for sure.

Went with a group of friends to Po Bro’s for dinner and drinks on the weekend (Opp. Little Easy at the top of Franklin Rd). The ‘Ms Ho’s Som Tum’ was really tasty, with a good amount of spice and really fresh crunchy ingredients. The soft shell crab and pork belly included in the dish were tasty and a good addition to the traditional Som Tum dish.

2 days ago we've ordered a take out of pad Thai and 2 entrees .The Pad Thais were lacking in flavour except a sweet sticky sauce and the rice noodles were tough presumably undercooked. The entres were also tasteless and really oily. Overall inedible. Sorry.
