Review Daebak Bbq - Auckland Central

Teck Boon
Restaurant gets very crowded during weekends and better to make a reservation if possible. Food is decent and the staff are always refilling the food and there is a good selection of both cooked and raw food for BBQ. The interior of the restaurant can get a bit smoky as there isn’t any form of extra ventilation to circulate the air inside. You’ll definitely bring the smell of the food when leaving the restaurant.

Good food! Restaurant is a bit hard to find. Best way to get there is via Federal Street across from Sky City. Walk down a few steps and you’re there- it’s not actually on Albert Street per say. They served fish as a bbq option plus all the usuals. Fast and efficient service. Dining is 90 minutes - plenty of time to eat and enjoy.

Food is good , lack of variety but still acceptable. Staffs always refill the food which is great. Adult is NZD33 / pax. Very worth 🙏🏻🥰

I came to have a lunch $33 per person the food quality was great and taste tho high recommend it👍👍

Imagine yourself famished after not eating for days and suddenly the door to heaven is opened before you with ambrosia spread across the table, the feeling you will get after your meal is analogous to the feeling after eating here. Although it seems like a small time restaurant with a crowded setting, the atmosphere is authentic and the smell is intoxicating. They serve a small but authentic Korean cooked food and the marinated meat is fresh and as much you can eat. An added bonus is the experience of cooking on the tabletop. The price is very reasonable and well worth it. If I visit Auckland again, I will certainly eat here.

So, having lived in Korea, I can confirm that this was super authentic. Excited to take friends here. We've been looking for a great Korean BBQ place for over 3 years. Our search is now over.

TBH not gonna be your best KBBQ experience, but all you can eat at a fair price can still get you hooked. Couple downsides: sometimes food items are refilled very slowly, not sure if it’s on purpose; staff can get too busy so they might ignore you or be less friendly or patient; I personally really wish to grill without foil, but it’s not allowed; not sure if they take bookings, but often we had to wait to get a table. But still, one of my fav KBBQ joints in NZ.

This place is really good. I would definetly recommend this place if you're looking for a nice dinner with family and friends. The only downside about it is that it is hard to access the place due to the construction. Other than that, its really good!
Patrick Y
It was great food. Hopefully next time could have more vegetables (ie lettuce), and more frequent. A bit smoky, food is good. Definitely worth the $ Go again, YES!

$21 for lunch and eat like there's no tomorrow. Ventilation's not great and the smell lingers on your clothes when you get back to the office. All in all, still worth it. The fried chicken here is noms. Never had this much meat in my life.

what a amazing bbq buffet in cbd. nice staff, food and service. definitely worth to come back again. :)

Our group had fun. The place could do with a good scrub down. Good variety of precooked food on offer, and plenty of ingredients to choose from.

Love Daebak's quality of food. Always seems to have good meat here, even the fried food is of much better quality than what I have seen in most bbq places. The staff are super accomodating and lovely. Truly recommend. Only issue is parking in city if you don't live round here, but good location.
Chris Joe (CeeJay)
Decent price and location off federal street This has become my goto place for Korean BBQ. Selection of meat isnt too bad, for the premade meats like Korean chicken and fried chicken, you gotta be quick as they go in seconds. Staff are pretty nice and friendly too Definitely recommend.

Having lived in Korea for a year and a half, I'm always on the lookout for good Korean restaurants. This one is pretty good. It's a BBQ buffet where you can cook as much as you want. There is a lot of variety when it comes to the meats you can cook and there are also a large number of cooked foods in the buffet. The price is pretty decent for what you can get, though if you are coming here, know it is quite warm inside due to the number of grills inside. Went away satisfied after my meal.

I enjoy this place so much ! It was great ! This is a korean bbq buffet. Choose your own meat (pork, chicken, fish, squid), make your own sauces, lots of side dishes! Even green onion kimchi! Yummy yummy! There are also some rolls, chicken drums in a dif sauces, and tteokbukki. You can eat all you want for $26 per person. Grill until whatever crispiness you want! There are also instant coffee to drink and they have other drink for extra charge i think ? I am not sure about that as I was not interested. I have read previous comments that service is lucking but this is a buffet. You take what you need and as many times you need. The servers wont know whether you want more food or not. They had came to us when we asked to change the gas canister and it was no problem. They are attentive if you need anything. I have seen that they had been looking over the table with ingredients and refilling when needed. So service was just fine ! I was very satisfied with my dinner ! Will come back again!

Loved it. Must try. I cooked fish & enjoyed. Very reasonable price - very much worth the price.

This was my first time visiting this place. We booked in and the place was full by 7.30. My husband doesn’t eat other than chicken so was happy to see chicken in their meat section. The other meats and sides were very nice. My husband wanted more of the dumplings but they finished very soon and did not have any later. Overall a good experience and will go again.

Great value for money spot with quality meats and great service. Licensed with basic beers but thats all you need. Will be bak!

Great place to bring friends, friendly and helpful staff and communication is very comfortable.

A good and affordable choice for buffet in city. The place is pretty much fully self service start from getting plates, cutlery, drink and cups and of course food. There are alright choices of meat and some side dishes including variety of kimchi. I like it and I think I will go back if I’m in the area.
Riana
i've been here countless times and everytime i leave craving it the next day. the food, especially the side dishes (those chicken wings, fried race, bulgogi and ricecakes
Sarah Sun
tried to make a reservation but was told by the restaurant to just walk in it should be pretty quiet, arrived but no seat was available inside, then was told to make a reservation first... ended up sitting outside... this is really annoying. food is alright, it's more about cost effectiveness than good taste

My first all u can eat in auckland and this is great, they have a lot of option of food and worth with the price. Pork belly marinated is the best one and also the other food are very yummy. Love it
Gloria Ching
Good selection of uncooked meats- pork, beef, chicken, squid, fish to put on the bbq. Similarly a nice variety of cooked foods from super crispy chicken nibbles (both normlanand Korean spicy marinated), sushi, dumplings, bulgogi, fried rice, to even miso soup. I found myself eating more of their cooked foods than cooking the meat myself. One down side was the lack of vegetables- lots of kimchi choices but I was disappointed there wasn’t any raw lettuce or salad to balance a very heavy meat meal. The place was quite spacious but as most Korean bbq places ventilation was not the best and can get quite stuffy inside. Overall It’s definitely worth the $25 you pay and I would come just to eat their fried chicken.
Alyssa Cabingan
Came here last night and loved the options of meat and hot food!! The place is pretty crowded as they have limited seats but we only waited for 5 minutes and you have the pleasure of paying after eating instead. The only problem was the chairs are very close to each other which doesn’t give you enough space to move around and they don’t refill the meats at certain times I don’t think which is a bit disappointing as I love their beef! Good value for money
Missfaith.r10
A variety of different meats and other options to choose from. Excellent prices and highly recommended for large groups and families who enjoy bbq meat. Only inescapable downfall is that the restaurant has little ventilation and is quite clustered - meaning your hair & clothes will literally smell like bbq smoke. Best time to visit is for the 5PM dinner onwards. The place gets fuller around midweek-weekends.
Jay
Really cool Korean BBQ Buffet just off Federal St. The meats are fresh, the veges are fresh, and the price is really reasonable ($24 for Dinner). They quickly clear away old plates, very attentive, and replenish the buffet regularly. They also have a good selection of drinks. For some reason, their fish tasted fantastic, not sure what fish it was or what coating they put on it, but I need to find out!

Last night, I have been this shop first time. And I won't go to this shop any more. It is waste my money and time. Not recommend. Bad experience.

Two weeks after returning from Seoul I was ready to get right back into barbecuing various meats on a small grill. There was a number of places to choose from in Auckland, but landed on Dae Bak after a couple of recommendations. This place is hidden off federal st, but once you see the sign you’ll know where to go. The buffet has a quite varied selection to choose from, particularly when it comes to the pork section. We also highly rated the chicken wings, though watch out they’ll disappear quickly. Everything here is DIY, from collecting your ingredients to cooking your food and even eating it. That’s the best business proposition in my opinion, get your customers to do all of the work and pay you for the privilege. My one critique of this establishment is the cooker - it’s not as hot as I would have expected and cooking on tinfoil rather than a grill can be touch and go. The lack of ventilation has also definitely resulted in a marinade covered ceiling. Semi authentic experience, great option none the less.

Located not to far from the Sky Tower so location is good. The atmosphere in here is okay. Staff are friendly. Food options are good aswell.. I would recommend trying the Korean Fried Chicken

A little bit hard to find which hides on the second floor of the AA building. My friend and I arrived 10 mins ahead of the opening, so we were the first people who sat close to the food table with fresh air for 30 mins😂. The side food is easy to make u full so be careful of the amount. Some of the marinated meat is tasty but is easy to be overcooked and hard to chew. The best choice is the squid roll and fish. After 30 mins when more people came in, we sat in the smoke hhhh...

So far, this is the beat Korean bbq for me. Worth your money, clean, great food, and real fancy lettuce.

We ate here maybe thrice last year. What I love on this place is summarice in the following:

$ Price - reasonable price or should I say cheap.
🥩 Food - great selection of food. They have the fancy lettuce not the icerberg, which I really love. I think lettuce is only available in dinner ( not sure).
🏠 Place - Clean, wide great for family lunch or dinner. Also its located in CBD.

Will definitely go back to Dae bak❤

Very first time i went for dinner it was pretty average i must say, but for lunch yesterday it was good. The price did rise up for lunch though I noticed from $18/person to $21/person so it was a bit of a turn off. The meats were juicy though! They cooked beautifully and when I accidentally overcooked the beef it was still juicy which shows the quality of meat is taken into consideration when they choose their meats! Kimchi did seem a bit old though and waiters do tend to ignore you and talk to themselves so thus the 3/5 stars. But i would definitely be a regular because the buffet is great and meat selection is just so good
Foodlover5
There were variety of meat when I went but only one fried rice that kept on running out. Wish there were other foods that I could have used to eat with the meats. Space got very crowded during lunch so we had to squash with another group
Rob Boiser
One of our favourite go to joints when we were still living in Auckland. It was very near to our place like 10mins walk. My favourite was the Chapchae (dont know if I spelled it right! And their fried chicken. Heaps of options to choose from. Very affordable.
Khaleesi
Nice place hidden off Federal St but there are signs out so it's hard to miss. Just as other reviews advise that this place gets very smokey and stuffy because there is no air con or vents to balance out hot air from bbq stoves. If your lucky you can get a table outside. Good selection of meats and smorgasboard plus side dishes. Good value for price.
Food2belly
The best Korean BBQ Buffet I have had and only $24 for dinner! They have so many vegetarian options including the fried dumplings, spring rolls and fried rice. I got to make my own kimchi fried rice with the choices. My favourite is grilled squid wrapped in lettuce. The fried sticky sauce chicken was amazing "better than pocha" and with all you can eat! Warning the restaurant is like a BBQ hot yoga studio, you come out sweaty and clothes/bag saturated with Korean BBQ smell for at least a week. However I came out with a full stomach and burned over 600 calories from sweating.

Daebak is incredibly cheap for an all you can eat ($24 for dinner, $21 for lunch) and they allow for bookings which a few KBBQ places don't offer. They have a range of meats from seafood, beef, pork and chicken that are nicely seasoned, have a well equipped seasoning/sauce stand and there are plenty of fresh veggies/radishes to choose from. They also have fried rice, bulgogi, soup, fried/sweet chili chicken and spring rolls available for starters if you're waiting for the meat to cook. Staff are friendly and accommodating and they have a small corkage fee of $5 as you can BYO wine. The only downside of the ambience of the place is that its incredibly hot to stay indoors and there isn't any proper air conditioning... but that aside, the food itself is great alongside some great company :-)
Emily
Daebak is usually a very popular and busy kbq situated in the city centre, very easily accessible. I've been here on a number of occasions and it is always good. There are a variety of well marinated meat, hot food, and cold dishes that are all self served, buffet style at a reasonable price.. ($24ea for dinner).

Recommended :)

Really good atmosphere, nice staff and awesome service.
The food there is good. Meat good. Eat as much as you want. It gets crowded sometimes and gets hot but its my go to bbq
Matthew Jeremiah Calderon
Place was fantastic, will definitely be coming back again, only thing to complain about is, once you're inside it gets very hot and stuffy, would definitely recommend that the place gets that issue fixed.
Other than that, service was friendly and super quick!
G1k
Lunch buffet is $21 which I think is cheap considering the city location and their range of salads/meat/sides.

The place gets really hot especially if it’s packed, but when I went yesterday it was quieter than usual (around three tables) so it wasn’t as stuffy/hot. It’s a casual place but the service is not casual, staff were friendly.

My favourite types of meat from here are the classic pork belly and thin beef brisket (this one doesn’t take long to cook as a bonus), they have really good fried chicken with sauce and also spicy rice cake. The strength of the gas heater could be stronger but it is better than other Korean bbq places. You can also buy a bottle of coke to share.
Samantha Leon
What makes this place stand out from the rest of the Korean BBQ buffets?
This place is always so packed and out the door but my first experience wasn’t exactly the best. As expected it was hot, sweaty and steamy inside due to the nature of the food but what really killed the experience for me was the seriously unhelpful staff. Food was alright but it’s the same where ever you go.
Idk, maybe it was just a bad first experience?
Cookie Monsters Cousin
Great meat and a perfect atmosphere for friends and family. Socially. Physically, it's a bit...smokey. But you get used to the fumes and lack of cool air pretty quick.

You're also going to smell like bbq afterwards so your cats will love you :).
O
Korean fried chicken is to die for. Place gets pretty packed . I dont recommend going there while its packed cos the side dishes run out and you will have to wait for them to cook more. Overall its pretty good experience here. The staff are friendly. Difference variety of meats and alot of side dishes to choose from
Food Is Good
-All smoke over the diner
-Prefer you guys to go another place around Takapuna
-not that much choice for eating
-All the glass and bottles of water were getting burn. You can see that on the glass has a burning mark.
This Korean BBQ joint was pretty cool. However, if you are going to dine on the weekends, I do recommend you call and book at table beforehand. We went as a group of four, and they told us it would be an hour wait! We were lucky to get a table only 10 minutes later, but the place was packed the whole time we were there.

They had a good selection of dishes, and they were pretty quick at refilling due to the demand. I’d have to say my favourite was the bulgogi beef, so flavourful and juicy!

This place gets very hot and stuffy though, so if you don’t like hot environments very much, I’d suggest getting a table outside, or just wearing light clothing.

Overall, was a fun and delicious experience!
Shelley Bedggood
Yummy one. First time at Korean BBQ so we had no idea what to do, would have been nice if the waiter gave us a few instructions we pretty much just watched what other people were doing to figure out how everything worked. The pork was delicious would also recommend naming the different foods at the buffet. Will happily recommend this restaurant.
Marcus Chew
This place is amazing, it's definitely a bang for your buck! It's 21 for lunch and 24 for dinner, although they have the same food for lunch and dinner so it's definitely more worth it to come during lunch. Food choices are quite normal, nothing fancy or special, but their fried chicken is one of the things you must try when you visit here!
Marggie Pascua
Went here with a huge group of people, great service and the variety of meat and side dishes I think were the best one I've been to so far. Love the side dishes particularly and the korean fried chicken. Will definitely come back here for more.

Love this Korean bbq! :) so many choices. My fave dish in here — Honey Soy Chicken, so crispy and tasty! Love the bulgogi too. They offer free Maxims coffee as well.

Just your typical korean bbq buffet.

Service: 5/10
We were quickly seated upon entering the restaurant.
I suspect they might be short of staff since the workers were all rushing around.
They were pretty slow at refilling the trays, at one point there were absolutely no hot foods or side dishes.
They only came to take our plates once throughout the whole duration of our meal.

Food: 6/10
There isn’t a large selection of food available compared to other kbbq buffets I’ve been to.
The hot foods were actually really good.
The fried chicken was crispy and flavoursome, and the spring rolls were hot and crunchy.
There aren’t that many sauces to choose from so the taste feels quite repetitive after awhile.
They don’t have any desserts so it kinda feels like an incomplete meal.

Ambiance: 5/10
It gets very popular and crowded at lunchtimes.
I had to swerve your way through chairs in order to get from the buffet to my seat.
The buffet area is quite small so it’s quite difficult to walk through when there are a lot of people.
The ventilation isn’t that good so it gets quite hot and stuffy inside; and it will leave you smelling like bbq for the rest of the day.

This place is smaller but also slightly cheaper compared to other kbbq restaurants. Perfect for satisfying your meat lover cravings when you’re on a budget.
Sandi Abaya
My family went here on Sunday for lunch. The place was tidy! (Although there were parts of the restaurant that had uneven surface) I love the fact that we were able to use tinfoil to cook our meat instead of cooking directly to the grill (it’s much more neater for us beginners out there :) )
The restaurant’s ambiance is nice and simple and I liked the selection of meat (+fish and squid)
Michael Mau'u Jnr
I've been here quite a few times now and every experience has been positive.
The interior of the restaurant is nice although when busy can be a little cramped, but you know what they say, if a place is busy, it is busy for a reason.
The price per person for buffet is good, you can definitely eat your money's worth and the food is worth it. You do have to be quick when its busy to get certain meats and other items (korean fried chicken pieces) the overall experience is fun to give a go.
I've slowly learned my way around the dos and don'ts of Korean Bbq and Dae Bak is a gem for a hungry person and some friends or family to visit for the Korean Bbq experience.
Its Me
Cheap easy Korean bbq with very declines side dishes ( deep friend chicken & spicy rice cake & more !!) It is my favorite all you can eat Korean bbq as I love marinated meat and their side dishes but I have had older family members complaining oh this meat had been frozen oh this meat is too thin oh its not a real grill but I honestly can't tell the differences plus I love their grill as all you have to do is changing your sheet lol my fam said the only reason I love it here is because I'm young?? Lol but I really really like it here plus you are only paying 20 or 23 at night
Juliet
Had great time, atmosphere very comfy, kind waiters, food nice but a section of meat was not marinated so when cooked tasted quite bland, but overall experience was enjoyable, would come again.
Celani Atienza
Could not remember how many times i have eaten in this restaurant.. i definitely recommend this place for your korean bbq all you can eat cravings! It has never disappointed me nor my friends! Ive brought different groups of friends and my partner here and everyone was happy!
Emma
Pretty standard Korean barbecue place. Clean enough with a decent atmosphere. Food is good (fried chicken is especially great). There’s a decent selection of meats and the marinades are all pretty good. Never seems to be enough lettuce though and they don’t offer the rice drink that most other places do. Ventilation is very mediocre so gets extremely hot next to the cookers and the whole place gets pretty smokey and stuffy. Overall fun place to visit with friends but isn’t better than other KBBQ places or anything. Another thing to note is that we tried booking the day before for 12 people and they said it was fine then on the night they said they only did reservations for 4 people which is fine but they didn’t tell us this as we booked which led to a disappointing evening.
Ezzz
Lovely place! Very local with good range of food :) always a good choice for a meal with friends. I think it needs better air ventilation as you smell like a roast pig after eating here LMAO get some more fans please thanks guys
Manoj Patel
Best to eat here if you're not planning on going elsewhere after as you'll smell like bbq for the rest of the night,The place itself can work on its ventilation a fair bit, too smoky inside, both myself and a mate got headaches and left early. The cuts of food you can choose are limited but are nice, especially the beef. Not bad for its price.
Sanchez Palalagi
First time coming here tonight and it was kind of packed which is a good sign. Dinner buffet was $23 which was a pretty good deal. Selection of meat was decent and the service was alright. Not much ventilation except for the big fans above which kind of just circulate the smoke around. Also they were playing the music quite loud 😅 I would come back here though 😊
The Poor Foodie
Not too many meat choices but everything gets refill very quickly. Lettuce is always out so keep an eye on the refill and rush to get it!
The place is super warm/hot so make sure you wear something that you can remove (?) for example you wear a t shirt and a jumper outside so if you feel hot you can just wear a t shirt
My friend and I were absolutely super hot inside the restaurant and we ended up just wearing a t shirt 😂
Ellynn
Will definitely be back! I have been craving for really good Korean BBQ but cannot find it here at East Auckland so I looked up Zomato and found this place. The meat variety is really good and the fried chicken was awesome!
Rayfaye Solomon
One of the best Korean restaurants I tried!!!! From the mouthwatering bulgogi to the Korean fried chicken which was spicy, tangy and sweet at the same time with crunch factor like the spring rolls... The inari were great.... good selection of kimchi and pickled banchan ( maybe more choices but I’m being nit picky) ... there is a wide meat selection along with spices and flavouring... overall an enjoyable experience!!!
Josephine Falefa
Enployees and workers are super kind and food tastes great. However, theres not much a variety of food and the spicy rice cakes are always tasting doughy.
Dxlche
I’ve come here a few times for korean bbq. It’s conveniently located in cbd and a reasonable price at around $23 for the buffet. They have a good range of meat options and sides including a crunchy fried chicken.
The place does get quite hot during summer which is not ideal as the stoves are hot too.
Don Shrimpton
Best dish is the Korean fried chicken. Would come back to this place just for that. Meats to bbq and selection is about average.

Best come in early or later during services times, as the place gets packed.

If your new to Korean Bbq, note that you’ll come out smelling like bbq. Make sure you don’t plan on going anywhere else after dining here. Otherwise bring some spare clothes to get change into.
Ashleigh Hea
Went here the other night with some coworkers. Very affordable for $23 all you can eat. The flavour of the marinated meats and fried chicken were so good, it even impressed by non-asian KBBQ virgin friends. Food was continuously topped up and no tray was empty for too long. Only issue was that there were not a lot of veggie options, but nevertheless; you're there for the meat anyway!
Linda Jirayu
Good bbq to go to. It's a reasonable price for meats and stuff but I think the soju is a tad expensive ($15) considering the varieties they have available(3 flavour) . The meat is constantly topped up as well as all the needs for the bbq cooking. But it gets quiet hot when there are a lot of people in the restaurant so if it looks busy it's best to sit outside altough sitting outside is a bit of a walk from the food. Clean restaurant and clean plates. Overall I loved my meal here. Though some of the meat was tough and under seasoned they provide salt and pepper on the side. Great place to gather up with friends.
My Food HQ
A tasty cheap eat that hits the spot!

Let's not joke around here this ain't fine food with a flash location.

But it is a cheap eat with a unlimited supply of tasty marinated meat. The bbq are average as and theirs no air conditioning here but again I say there's unlimited tasty meat to eat.

Many times I've come down here and cooked myself up a feast of pork, bacon, beef and chicken. And left full to the brim

So I'll leave it there lots of fresh meat at a cheap price what more could you want?
Val
We got here just before 5pm and they let us in straight away! Good variety of different meats including seafood options and loved the different side dishes and the fried chicken was really good!
Fonoticilla
I'm a regular and the food just never gets old😍 The meat is absolutely delicious and the side dishes are really tasty!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
Kyla Solomon
Ambience was great - with a great range of meats that are always rotated quickly that you never have to worry about if the meat has been sitting for long because they go quickly and by the time you're finished with your plate, they've refilled. There's just a right amount of sides &a taste just as good. Don't pass on the fried chicken because that is also really good. The staff are attentive & always smiling (except for that one guy that "greeted us" when we came in). The only downside was probably the fact that the burner was raised instead of levelled with the table (it was hard to move meat around) and the fact that the tables are so small that it's hard to really have 4 people in one. Still great overall. Will come back.
Nico B. Valderrama
For $20, one gets to have unlimited meat and sides for lunch. I would preferred to eat with plain white rice, but the fried rice is good as well. Pickled radish is better than the kimchi. My most favorite meat was the beef sukiyaki. Pork belly is good and like them cooked to crispiness. This is worth its price.
HelenMeng2000
Very delicious place to eat at :D. Highly recommend if you eat a lot and love korean food, there is meat u cook yourself and also some premade food like noodles and chicken wings. It is a good price as well and fun to come here with friends!

Dae Bak BBQ

THE FOODOLOGIST RATING:-

Food:- 4/5 (Buffet Serving, Good Spread ,not vegan friendly , hot plate spread better than other in city,Slow to top up buffet)

Service:-4/5(Fast,immediate seating, late on topping up buffet)

Ambiance:- 1.2/5(Small,Cramped,noisy,smoky,take smell of the grill home)

Cleanliness:-3.5/5(busy ,untidy ,food droppings)

Tucked away in up a stairwell on Albert street I found this hidden Korean BBQ oasis. I love Korean BBQ had to always travel to the suburbs to enjoy and I finally found a place in the city .For $22 it offers whats worth that amount and more than often you leave satisfied. Usually in BBQ places its all about the meat but you expect the hot plate buffet to also be good and dae bak lives to that . The seaweed soup is something I like and the Korean fried chicken is the bomb. Their food items get over and a refilled little by little so you would have to wait if busy they don't have many greens or veggies .The meat is good quality but seafood mainly frozen fair enough for $22.Thumbs up for a good BBQ in the bustling city
Veronica Dharma
Nothing to complain with $22 korean buffet dinner. Not too much choice but all tasty! Korean fried chicken (esp the spicy one) is my fave!! Will never say no for this restaurant.
Vanita Glassie
I enjoyed it alot. It was good to try something new😆😆 it was a great atmosphere. Wonderful I stay and many varieties of food to choose from. I loved it. But few let downs was hardly any vegies. I'm a huge sled lover especially my greens. But overall it was great👍👌👏☺
Lia Yosaatmadja
Pretty decent bbq place in town. Quite a good variety of meat and seafood for the bbq, not a bad range of side dishes and cooked food. Good price of $22 for dinner.

The place seems pretty busy, so the good turn over can be a little slow.. but it's really not that bad. Everything is pretty much self service, but it's part if the experience. Will definitely come back again!
LilMSunshine
My first time here, was so impressed by the number of people dining at this place. Good price for a buffet Korean BBQ dinner $22/pax. They only have coffee, Korean beer and water. Great selection of meats....marinated or unmarinated. Sauces and condiments were plenty and so good. Staff were attentive, not so posh restaurant but food is good value for money. Must try!
NINI
Went with my friend and it costed us $20 each! Super cheap but not much variety in meat, ended up eating the same thing but luckily there were plenary of side dishes!
Anna Ambion
Good deal for unlimited meat and some Korean dishes. I went with my colleagues for dinner since we have been craving to eat Korean BBQ for the last 18 hours. And this one did not disappoint us. Waited for 30 minutes since it was quite full. We paid for 22NZD (dinner price) and you get to enjoy...
K
Korean buffet. It is a place where you cook the meat yourself on a gas burner.

Pro:
- cheap cheap price here.
- Food quality is average.
- I'd say their food variety is good too.
- Friendly staff.
- No need to hassle for menu other than drinks and alcohol.

Cons:
- Noisy environment.
- Can be unclean at times.
- Well.. you wouldn't pay for ambience for $22 buffet would you?
Benz Chan
If you are looking for a cheap Korean buffet, this is the place to be. Food in general is palatable, but not overly delicious.

Most staff are friendly except for one (unsure if he's a shift manager or just a regular crew member). He did not allow my group to sit on a table outside although it was vacant, and was hovering around us everytime we came to the serving area to get more food. He was even muttering in Korean and whispering to other staff while glancing towards us. This to me was very rude.

Another con of dining here is lack of ventilation. You would definitely sweat after eating. Meanwhile, your clothes would smell barbecue and it would linger until you have left the resto.
Been here 3 times now.
Pros:
- Cheap all you can eat
- Nice atmosphere
- Help is there if you need it
- Good selection of meats and other cooked dishes
- Tteokbokki

cons:
- Hard to get around when the place is full
- Seating too close for comfort

Will keep going here even if its full.

I came here today with my workmate. It was so busy at 6.30pm so we had to wait for a while but not too long. Even though they were busy but their staffs were really friendly and nice. To me, I like their food as well as their customer service. Therefore, who ever love meat then come ever here ♡ nice food with affordable price. However, after finishing ur body will be full of bbq smell lol..

Second time at Dae Bak Korean BBQ and still had an awesome dining experience. The place was packed, so you know it's legit. Everything was worth it even though there was a 2 dollar price increase.

Went there 2weeks ago but they had black out so can't dine in. So tried again today. it was only 6pm but place was filled out and people even stand on que to wait for table. meats are fresh and place was clean enough. but side dishes were not tasty and not refill on time also service was not really good. overall I would give 4 stars for the value what I paid for. but they should have fixed price or give right information to customers. my daughter is 11.5years but charged adult fee and they charged 22dollars per person after the staff told me 20 dollars per head when i book the tables. but was still happy to pay for 22dollars for amount of food we had tonight. will go back again

I usually dine at the Korean BBQ restaurant in Takapuna but have decided to give this a try with my friends! It was so packed when we got there!! Waited around 20 minutes for a table. Selection of hot food is quite limited IMO. Service is mediocre. $20 per person was good value though! One of my mates who was a BBQ virgin really enjoyed it! Would I go back again? Hmm..wouldn't rush back.

My favourite Korean BBQ! Won't go anywhere else. They have good selection of food and beverages to choose from, amazingly well placed in the city, friendly staff and all at a fair price. Used to be $20 - Now $25 each.

Love this place

Went here today for a friend's birthday. It's my second time to ever go to a Korean BBQ ever so I was pretty excited! My other friend recommended it so we checked it out. The price is alright, a little pricey at $20 buffet for lunch but there are enough options. Apparently it used to be $18. There were a few people there so I can tell it's a popular place. I've heard good thinks about it beforehand. The meat are fresh and there are a wide range of side dishes available. The location is pretty good, right next to the skytower. You can sightsee afterwards if you'd like. Anyway, the place has a good ambience I'd suggest to add a bit of music, I can't really remember if music played there. There was a staff guy there and I can tell he's attentive since he quickly cleaned our table after we finished. I love the cooked bulgogi so much it's officially my favourite Korean ever cause there's just so much flavour going on. It had a hint of sweetness which complemented the rich flavour. There wasn't much cooked options left though around that time. It was around 1:30pm. I tried the chicken and beef as well (we grilled it). I liked the chicken a lot than the fish and beef. The grilled onions were so nice too. It goes well with meat. I recommend the marinated meats. It's pretty much self service so you change the foils yourself. Everything is setup for you. It's super convenient and the food taste great. I'll definitely come back some time again.

A cute little bbq hidden away with so much to offer! My first time was two weeks ago at lunch and may I give credit to the guy who served us for the absolute lovely service! Very welcoming and so good to us from when we came through the doors until we left the place. Quality meat is always a bonus and that is what we got! Yummy, enjoyable and filling too. Atmosphere was awesome - not too stuffy (which I find in a K Bbq place) like that so that was good! However, I wouldve rated this a 5 out of 5 but unfortunately - foods like the fried chicken, noodles etc were empty in their trays for quite a bit which was a let down to people who didnt try it yet. However, it was a fantastic experience and would reccomend to all! Will be coming back for more for sure! Cheers :)

The restaurant interior is very welcoming and the meat selection covers the usual fare one would find in a Korean bbq-- spicy pork, marinated beef ribs, pork belly slices, squid etc... And the hot food selection had an adequate variety but the taste were more like what one would find in an a la carte restaurant than a buffet. At $20 pp I will definitely be returning!
The only suggestion I would make is to label your food and meat-- it took us a lot of sniffing to identify the condiments, and I had to explain the dishes individually to my friends.

Who would ever think there's a cute clean Korean BBQ restaurant tucked away in the city. Walked passed here with a few friends, we were looking for a place to eat. I was surprise to see this place on our journey.
I have to say it is one of the best Korean BBQ I have been too. The hot food were actually hot and warm, and the place was clean. The only downfall were the foils which we had to change a lot. The service is good very helpful, and they're kind staff. Would I come back again absolutely.

I'm half Korean and Half Chinese, so I like and know about Korean barbecue a lot. I promise that there is the best Korean barbecue buffet in CBD zone. Put the Pork belly and Kimchi together, you will meet the fantastic! Hope to find more yummy side dishes there.

Okay so one of the most hidden away Korean BBQs here in Auckland City, tucked away in plain sight! Strolled in and we could pick any table we wanted, the waiter was fairly quiet and let us do what we wanted (as we should at Korean BBQs) and barely bothered us unless we called for a change of foil or to turn on the gas. Their buffet offerings were basic for a Korean BBQ but it still satisfied us. Nevertheless it was well and truly worth it for $18.

Greetings to all foodies! It has been a while since I uploaded my last review. If you have never tried korean B.B.Q before, I would recommend that you visit this place over any other restaurants. In comparison to any other Korea B.B.Q restaurants in Auckland, I would say that this place is the cleanest and serves better cuts of meat. It can feel a little crowded and smokey so please keep this in mind before visiting this place. Their customer service could definately improve as well but is not below average. If your after a good night out with your best mates and want to satisfy your hunger, then I recommend this place as you will definately get your moneys worth. recommendation: beef and pork belly.
