Review Village Co-op Ice Cream Shop - Auckland Central

Geoff Wilson
Very friendly little coffee and ice cream shop. The two women seemed more than happy to let our group sample as many different flavours as needed to help make a good choice, and in the end I went with Triple Vanilla bc it really lived up to its name and wasn't some bland flavour. All of their flavours felt more fresh and refreshing than like the thick chocolate and caramel sweet bombs you might get elsewhere. The only other thing I wanted to comment on was their wall of dogs! Nice unique touch of flair.

A beautiful hot chocolate with coconut milk to get our day started the right way. This place is a hidden gem, very dog friendly and super friendly staff. Highly recommend stopping by. James Ashwin Kakapo Business Sales

Love their coffees but sadly because of the price increase I will no longer be able to buy the coffee card. Up to $6.50 for large flat white now, which is becoming the trend everywhere. It is what it is.

Cute little ice cream place right up the road from the beach! They had 6 options of dairy free ice cream/sorbet and their cones and chocolate sticks were dairy free too ! Some outdoor seating but the beach is a perfect place to enjoy your ice cream! I had the dairy free pineapple and coconut vanilla

The BEST ice cream in St Heliers (and Auckland!!) Their dairy-free chocolate is soooo good and sits so lightly in your stomach! The chockie sticks they put in the ice creams are awesome too. Lovely service too

Can't help it, coming back again and again every weekend :) Very good coffee and yummy ice-creams, haven't been disappointed with any flavour we tried so far. Nice staff, friendly and very quick. No wonder customers queue patiently outside, worth waiting! No tables inside, best to takeaway and enjoy at the beach.

Pooped into this cute little ice cream shop yesterday and almost walked passed but so glad I didn’t!
They had unique flavours I had never seen before! I tired the black Doris plum sorbet in a cone and was only $4!!
If you want ice cream go here instead of movenpick or Ben and Jerry’s. The girls that served me were super lovely and I’d definitely be back

LOVE the ice cream here. Really great flavours, particular the butterscotch one and the sorbet is delicious too, Black Doris plum - yum! The price and portion size is crazy good, not what I’d expect from a place in St Heliers. If you fancy spending a sunny afternoon having an ice cream at the beach - this is the place to go.

Beautiful ice cream made onsite with lots of flavours to choose from! Ice cream portions very generous 5/5!! Coffee a 3/5. Great to be able to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine!!

So far, one of the most authentic and best gelatos (not common ice cream) that I've found around Auckland.
Good balance, not too creamy (as how gelatos should be) not too sweet (if too sweet it could mask flavors).
Mmmfood
These guys have excellent chocolate ice cream. Next time the sun is out, get yourself an ice cream cone from here and go for a wander down to the beach. You won't regret it!

I was tempted to buy some Hot Chocolate from this place one time, but I was very hungry and wasn't quite thirsty for sweetness. So instead, I took a different approach. I ended up getting a passionfruit muesli pot. And like all the muesli pots I've tasted in the past, the sweetness, texture freshness and tastiness have never failed.

The person who served me was really friendly and kind, there was also no waiting time because it was only a 'point and receive' order.

Inside the cafe it's like a fusion of a cafe and an ice-cream parlour with a city beach-like infliction. Different vibes can be felt in this place, all of them positive. Next time I come back here, I'm definitely getting myself some Hot Chocolate or some ice-cream because I was tempted to get something really cold and sweet, the time I was there

Tasty sandwich which looked very fresh but I had it toasted as prefer it. Wasn't sure about ordering coffee as the girl on the counter looked quite uninterested and I stood there for a good few minutes before she looked up from her phone so this put me off and previous reviews re coffee were inconsistent. Anyway Ice-cream looked delicious and I guess that's what they specialise in.

Coolest icecream place ever. Amazing Joshuas icecream flavours wipes out the competition in taste. Doris Plum is to die for. Lots of other scrummy bickys and slices too.

My favourite ice cream place in auckland, delicious flavours and really soft texture, although it does melt quite quickly. Also amazing ginger slice, a big fan of the baking although staff should be more careful as twice i have asked for a flavour of brioche and received the wrong one.

Coffee is rubbish; way too milky, lacking in flavour, and just doesn't taste very good.

Considering they have no seating they are overpriced for a takeaway only joint.

Has potential if they get a better barista and learn to make good coffee.

Village Co-Op is my favourite place for ice creams in the area. All the ice creams are made on site and are delicious. Every person to who I have introduced the place to has become their fan ever since. $4 for a single scoop and mind you it is quite a large scoop. My fav flavours are - peach sorbet, butter scotch fudge and orange marmalade. Absolutely A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!! Not to forget the staff are lovely. Always have a huge smile on their face to greet you.

excellent on what they do.
coffee ice cream and small scones /muffins.
sadly no stables or outdoor seating it could be something to consider in the future.
maybe a bench by the window.
a bit pricey also when it comes to snacks etc. but coffee is the best by far.

Our regular morning coffee place. They have great coffee, consistently of a high standard, yummy food and MOST IMPORTANTLY happy, smiling, brilliant staff. A 'must stop' in St Heliers

Lovely place and relaxing atmosphere. Friendly staff always willing to let you take your time to pick

The quality of icecream is great. I chose extreme chocolate and the cinnamon and ginger. The chocolate was definately worth every bite! Rich with chunky chocolate bits!

For the small price, the icecream is excellent.

May not be the creamest icecream Iv had but id recommend you give this sweet place a go

Great coffee great ice cream cute location always busy if you live In the bay totally a local! Used to run down here just to et coffee rain or shine.

We get our decaf mochacino here most weekends. Bought the odd tub of ice cream but their coffee stands out as a good cuppa. This was after throwing the cup away I'd bought earlier from the bakery shop.
Being a smaller shop there relaxed youthful staff dont necessarily stick to high street opening hours. They closed 4:30-40 weekdays when I was after a coffee so Starbucks is more a convenience if you have a schedule and dont want to waste time.

Village Co-Op is a family run store located just off Tamaki Drive in St Heliers. They serve coffee, breads, deli items and best of all, ice cream.

They make their own ice cream on site with flavours such as Passionfruit Pavlova, Espresso and Caramel Fudge, Lemon Curd and Rewa Rewa Honey. I highly recommend the Passionfruit Pavlova - absolutely delicious and comes with actual meringue!

I love that you also get to choose what you want on top of your ice cream - either a gingerbread man cookie or dark chocolate sticks - both are yummy!

I suggest coming here on a nice hot summers day for an ice cream and then relax on St Heliers Beach - absolute bliss!

well, the coffee and ice creams are great at the Coop... but "Cool Let's EatFood" sandwiches at $7.50 are totally over priced! Mostly just bread.
Andrew Wilson
This little place is awesome, and simply the best ice cream I've ever had!
The staff are great too.
Tiny shoebox of a place hidden down a side street, but great all round!!

It's really good ice cream. Mmmkay.

The best "cafe" in St Heliers by a long way.

Strictly, not a restaurant or cafe as it very sadly only has a couple of seats to enjoy their produce, though the beach is < 100m away.

VC have the friendliest staff, their coffee is wonderful - probably slightly improved since switching to Altezzano this year. Their pastries and delicious. And they sell Loaf bread - though you need to get there early as they sell out ASAP on weekends.
