Review Cornwall Park Cafe - Auckland Central

Cristina Luces
Our food was bloody tasty! šŸ’– we ordered the open omelette and the bruschetta, both with salmon. The coffee was alright (not the best not the worst). The atmosphere is great if you enjoy people as it tends to be very busy. We called to make a reservation for 6 people, but they said that they don't take reservations. Keep this in mind as you might have to wait a little bit for a table. Overall, a nice cafe in the park! šŸ˜Š and it's pets friendly, so don't forget your furry buddy at home.

Chicken wrap tastes good but could have been better if served warm and not cold from the ref. Hot lemon toddy and hot choco tasted good! Banana bread also tasted great! Staff was very friendly and assisted us well when we requested for a take-away cup for my daughter's unfinished smoothie.

Food is nice, service is good, but the VIEW is excellent! It beats everything!

Had brunch on a Sunday. Super busy but our party of 4 were seated quickly. Beautiful food and perfect coffee. I queried something in my eggs. It was handled professionally and politely, I was very impressed (turned out to be nothing). The covered outside veranda is very noisy and birds can be a problem even though staff clear tables promptly. Food and staff 10/10

Very delicious lunch we had today. All food we ordered were so good in the taste and also amount. Beautiful display too.
Beth Stewart
Had an outstanding breakfast today. Probably one of the best I had ever had in NZ/UK.

Good coffees and pastries, smoothies were extremely sweet and tasted too much like coconut for my liking. Lots of dogs in the area, but they're usually friendly. Wait time not too long, even when they're busy, but sometimes the line can be a bit long. Other than that, really nice to go to after a nice walk in the park šŸ‘

It has always been a great experience for me in ā€œCORNWALL BISTROā€. The ambiance is very welcoming, charming and great location. I love my ā€œMocha Coffeeā€ with Cinnamon and ā€œEGG BENEDICTā€ every time I visit there, itā€™s a fine dining šŸ½ but very warm staff members. I want to thanks šŸ§’šŸ¼MARIA, šŸ‘±šŸ»ā€ā™€ļøJOY and thešŸ§‘šŸ»ā€šŸ¦±guy on front desk for serving me today and Iā€™m really GRATEFUL for that! The Atmosphere of Bistro is so chill and cool, even the staff is also really friendly and humble. I wish you all very happy and successful 2021. Thanks Thanks Melinda for the assistance and I will definitely book my high tea birthday get together over here in Marchā€¦.

You know that feeling when you're starting the day and you think to yourself, today is going to be great. I had that feeling going into my first mothers day (today). My husband and I decided to celebrate this new mile stone at Cornwall Park Cafe. We've been to many cafes with our baby since he's been born so we thought yeah, easy relaxing start to the day. Boy, we were wrong. Not only did our son decide to test out his vocal range the minute we got there but also his cat like ninja reflexes. It was my fault for holding my son too close to the table, knowing that once he gets his hulk-like grip on an object it's like wrestling with a WWE star. That beautiful smelling coffee had no chance, it ended up all over me and the floor. Luckily nothing on him. The staff were quick to clean up our mess with, who I'm assuming is a manager as he wasn't in the staff uniform, mopping the floor and then ordering a replacement coffee for me with no additional charge. When I tell you seeing this new coffee put in front of me brought tears to my eyes is no short of a lie. Thank you for the amazing service, oh and the corn fritter meal was amazing. *Picture of my replacement coffee that made me happy cry because I'm in my emotional postpartum phase šŸ˜‚

Amazing little cafe in the middle of Cornwall Park with quick and friendly staff, tasty food, a great cabinet food selection, and even a gelato truck outside. Super recommended to dog owners! A+++

Busy cafe located in the lower part of Cornwall park. Plenty of parking in front of the cafe. Different choices of meals and drinks for you to choose from. Lots of people coming here after a walk in the park, or maybe for some relaxing time. Pet friendly as can often see dogs around the tables.

Good cafƩ, nice open area, great food. Lots of cabinet food. Friendly staff The toilets not very nice, don't have windows, only a vent, not well ventilated.

I have run in Cornwall Park for over 30 years and done over 5000 summits of One Tree Hill. It is the most amazing place for all Aucklanders and visitors and provided for us at no cost to the rate payers of Auckland. If you have not visited put it on your to do list. Take the kids, check out the animals, trees and awesome views. Highly recommend.
Gel Pelagio
Great place for runners and nature lovers! I so love it!ļæ½ The place is also well-maintained and preserved its natural beauty. I will definitely come back to this place for my 3 day weekly run. Thank you mother earth for this awesome fantastic park!ļæ½

Just Beautiful!! It was worth the hike up the hillside to reach the summit and admire the view. A stroll amongst the most beautiful trees I have ever seen and then a snack and beer at the cafe. What a fantastic way to spend the afternoon!
Sadiya Auckland
It is my favourite place on earth and one of the most beautiful and well maintained park? Blessed to have it in walking distance to where I live....God Bless New Zealand ļæ½

Cornwall Park is a quiet and beauty place to be. It is also a place for runners, bikers, families, picnickers, photographers and adventurers and explorers. It is a place for everyone.
Eddie Braun
Perfect spot for just about anything from dog walking to cycling, kids playing to outside yoga. Stream running through offers beautiful views and sounds of nature such as running water and birds. It also has an amazing disc golf course!

Second time here in the last 6 months and the service is so poor. I had to walk away after being ignored for 10 mins to make an order for a coffee, when the bistro was almost empty.
Melody Choat
This park is the single most gorgeous park I've ever visited!!! Simply stunning! Paris, France has quite a beautiful park within the city that was my favorite prior but the size and beauty of this park is simply spectacular and unforgettable!! Bravo New Zealand!
Elle Dibrova
Awesome brilliant park, well maintained and cozy. Highly recommend for anything! This place will make you happy!
Joelle Holland Rudling
Lovely rural park in an urban setting! Caters for both people that like to walk on concrete paths among beautiful flowers and plants, and for people who want a country muddy walk up and down precarious paths alongside sheep! Nice view from the top although it was pouring when we visited!
Aline Prado
It's a beautiful park! Great place and ideal to have fun with family and friends.

Despite the food and setting being beautiful, the food is rather bland and the service does appear to be understaffed at busier times.
Pinming Sanniang
Good service, the food is normal. But awful coffee, some coffee grounds in the latte. What kind barista can make this awful coffee?

A cute little cafe in the middle of Cornwall park. I had lunch here with my mum and brother. My brother got the fish and chips and the portion was really big. Fish was hoki, which was the market fish. My mum got the chicken and avocado sandwich toasted and she wasnā€™t a fan. She said the mayo was too overpowering and the chicken was canned (not sure about this as I didnā€™t have it). She had half of it and gave up. <br/><br/>I got the mince on toast without Parmesan. I was a bit uncertain about the parsnip purĆ©e but it elevated the dish (I was going to ask them to leave this ingredient out). The portion of mince was generous and it was really delicious. I left feeling full but not uncomfortably stuffed from oil and grease because the tartness of the tomatoes balanced it.<br/><br/>Only negative which dropped it to a 2 star is the hygiene. A pigeon brushed against my shoe and Iā€™m still freaking out from that...

Itā€™s really unpleasant when the staff donā€™t acknowledge you when you arrive, I get that youā€™re busy but a quick ā€œbe with you in a secā€ would go a long way. A lot of other people were also standing confused wondering if theyā€™re meant to be waiting there or not.<br/><br/>The chicken pie we ordered was apparently completely forgotten about as they only brought it out right after we mentioned it and my food was cold by then. The pie was really bad. Iā€™ve never encountered a dry pie before but apparently itā€™s possible.

The Cafe in Cornwall Park. [Okay, I honestly think the location is what really makes this place so appealing. Itā€™s situated in the middle of a beautiful park. And yes itā€™s Cornwall Park...but omg when I came here recently, I felt so blown away lol. Everything was so beautiful šŸ„ŗšŸ˜ and I never knew there were magnolias in this park. Thereā€™s a load of magnolia trees right beside this cafe and I literally just stood there for a solid few minutes appreciating the natural scenery šŸ˜‚. <br/>Anyways, I didnā€™t get anything from their actual menu so Iā€™m not sure what their food taste like but their cabinet and drinks are pretty good. My friend and I both got the blueberry smoothie which tastes really amazing, but I do think this place is a bit on the pricer side. I mean itā€™s normal to find smoothies around 11$ these days but they donā€™t give you that much. Also, I personally wouldnā€™t pay >$20 for fish & chips :). The people here are friendly but they did mess up our order (the staff probably got confused since my friend and I ordered the same drink). <br/>Talking about drinks, they offer a wide range of them and Batchwell kombucha is sold here, so enough said šŸ˜‚ jk. Well, they do have lots to choose from & Iā€™m keen to try more! <br/>Oh, and the rhubarb tart I got was good but not super memorable. <br/>-> BE BACK OR BACK AWAY? I think everyone should take walks around Cornwall Park once in a while haha. But yes, I will be back here because I think itā€™s such a beautiful place to relax in. Thereā€™s a few things I probably would try from their main food menu such as their truffle mushroom on sourdough šŸ˜. So, I can definitely see myself chilling here, especially when the weathers good. :))))]

Whenever I go to this cafe, I always feel very unwanted and staff are extremely unfriendly. <br/>When I got to the counter, the ladies there did not even acknowledge me for about 5 mins. Then took me to a table and when I tried to order, shoved her hand in my face and told me a waitress will come. <br/>So rude, and food not great. They are only surviving becoz Cornwall park is popular.
Soleil Hefferen
Iā€™ve been here a few times. We often pick this cafe as the kids can run/ride around and itā€™s really family friendly. The food is ok. My most recent visit I ordered fish and chips. I was not a fan of the batter on the fish.
Oksana Zhang
Came during a busy weekend and loved the transparent walls! <br/><br/>We got a Open Steak Sandwich and a Corned Beef Hash. Presentation looked nice.<br/><br/>Open steak sandwich was a little bit underwhelming, the ratio of bread and steak was off. Caramelised onions were nicely seasoned though. <br/>The corned hash was a little confusing, it was essentially a potato salad with corned beef and egg and the whole concept was pretty random. Taste wise it was fine but didnā€™t wow us. <br/><br/>We were overall a little disappointed.
Kim
Today was the last time I will be visiting this cafe. Couple of weeks ago waited over an hour for food to be delivered to table. This morning when only few patrons there for breakfast, we had hair in meal and not ours. <br/>They were reasonable to not include $10 on bill, however it ruined the experience and also put us of others meals, eating at the time. No excuse for poor hygiene & last week also saw the waitress sneeze as bringing out meal before handing it to another waitress to deliver. Really disappointing as great location, fabulous setting but it seems to be overpriced now for what they are delivering. Very disappointing
Julian Te Tai
Beautiful location, but please teach your staff the difference between a long black and an Americano. I even asked for just a little bit of water, but still got a cup full of watered down coffee.
Xiaohuan Li
We used loving food here, especially the big breakfast. But this time when we came on Sunday, they changed the sausage, which tasted terrible. Also, the beef hash I ordered was sooooooo salty, I donā€™t why they have to choose this beef, tastes like ham . And not mention numbers of flies fly around while we eating..,.
Andrew Connell
We had 7 people with 7 orders. One order had incorrect add-ons. We had 4 inconsistent orders of Avocado on toast with 1 or 2 pieces of toast and very different, generally minimal amounts of Avocado. Nothing was great, service was confused and disorganised. Much better cafes in the area with much higher quality food for the same price.
Sherry Wang
The coffee was fine but the food was rubbish specially the big breakfast which is defintely over priced $25. Even so, you expect to wait more than 30mins to get it. The lady in the reception was arrogant. I complained about the waiting and she said I should expect that...Ā  It used to be a very good restaurant and the food was very delicious . Not anymore....
Lucy Preston
Been here a couple of times for a coffee or tea and snack, and it is not bad for a cafe in a park. Staff are super friendly and cater well to busy crowds.<br/><br/>The deconstructed coffees/hot chocolates are so fun and definitely worth the extra $!
Kaizeen Kolah
Had an amazing lunch here on Sunday afternoon. We ordered the open steak sandwich, fish & chips and the bacon and waffles.<br/>Despite the restaurant being really busy our food came quickly and service was really friendly. <br/>They pay attention to details and the food takes just as good as it looks. <br/>Will surely be back.
Helen Tsu
A great location and place except the food. Have been here three times, not pleased with the food. May only order the drinks next time.<br/><br/>Coffee is much better than last time.
Anastasia Matiatos
Cornwall Park Cafe damn hun it's pre good. Used to come here heaps growing up for a morning tea or lunch and it's always been very pleasant. It's usually quite busy so food does take a hot min to arrive but it's always worth the wait. The cafe is super cute and he staff are very friendly making you feel welcomed. Defiently give this place a visit. x
Crackerjacker
Very nice place here but it appears to be a popular place for non working mothers of young children. The food was great. I got the granola but the tower thing in the middle was so sweet. I like sweet stuff but this was next level.
Karina
Came in for a coffee one morning and as soon as we came in it was already very busy, but we got seated outside quite quick and I ordered an iced mocha and a lemon passionfruit loaf, the loaf was very sweet and even though it was served with yogurt I still couldn't finish it. The iced mocha was served very pretty and is very photo worthy as it comes deconstructed, however I really did not enjoy it. An iced mocha is supposed to be made with chocolate however I didn't get served any chocolate syrup, it did come with some flakes - but I'm not sure if that was the 'chocolate' part or something else should of come or thats just how they serve it? But that seems more like an iced coffee than an iced mocha. Once I mixed everything I found it really bitter so I had to order a scoop of ice cream on the side which made it a little better but still not worth it. My siblings enjoyed it but thought the service took too long. Quite busy but would like to give it another try sometime soon.

Modern cafe, enjoyable after a morning stroll around one tree hill. Breakfast meals were pleasant, the wild mushroom was nice. Staff were friendly and the crowd made it lively.<br/><br/>Taste: 3.5<br/>Aesthetics: 3.5<br/>Service: 3<br/>Ambience: 4.5

Disappointed on how much food quality has dropped here. Paid over $7 for a custard pie, I was a bit shocked to find out they use custard powder and put too much. Cup cake and scone were very average, juice was clearly not freshly squeezed , plus a cup of coffee thatā€™s almost forty dollars bill
Danielle
Had one of the worst coffee experiences of my life. I was sadly disappointed of what I have received today.<br/><br/>Is this some sort of abstract art or has someone taken a sip already? I was hoping the taste would make up for it however that did not happen. It tasted like it was burnt.

Love this place super friendly staff nice food great for our little puppy just overall lovely thankyou Cornwall Park staff and owner and our puppy says thankyou to.šŸ‘šŸ’•

They have really yummy smoothie. I always order mango smoothie, really refresh in the summer time, a lot of space outside can let kids running around.

We were served by a polite lady who was lovely and smiley. However, the food was really not enjoyable. I ordered a pork belly Benedict (?) And my mum got the toast with poached eggs and greens<br/>For around $24, i don't think it was worth it. The brioche was dense and hard. Very lightly toasted to the point that it may as well have been straight from the fridge. The pork belly was dry and just 2 tiny bits on my plate with no presentation.<br/><br/>The sourdough on my mum's plate was so hard and that it tasted like biscuit.<br/><br/>Food.. 1.5/5<br/>Value: 1.5/5<br/>Service: 4/5
Lizzie
Had super high expectations for this place and it was a little average. Such a lovely setting but the prawns in the linguine were frozen not fresh and the sauce was nothing special for the price it was. The pork belly was slightly overcooked for the Benedict but the highlight for sure was the lamb cutlets!! Such a huge portion, slightly too raw but full of flavour. Will def be keen to come back and try the sandwiches and fish n chips which looked amazing!
Angelique Dale
The coffee here is consistently great. The food is good too and cabinet pastries are delicious. Always end up taking stuff home after eating in. Theyā€™re blueberry shortcake is a favourite and they do an amazing bran muffin. Also love that they do half portions of their breakfasts.
T
Cold staff who ignored us most of the time, my food (and tomato juice) was expired! The bread was tough and hard to bite into and coffee was extremely bitter. Pretty bad experience. Not coming back.
Lucy
We came during the weekend and it wasnt too busy. Food was average and quite pricey...There were four of us: two menu items came together followed by a very long wait for a wrap from the cabinet and then one dish which didnt eventuate, unfortunately due to a miscommunication with the wait staff. We then ordered the salmon eggs Benedict, which came with no salmon)... And when asked where it was the staff apologised and brought a side plate of salmom. The staff were apologetic and offered us compensation via some cabinet food which was thoughtful.
Julia Louise
This place is always super busy but thereā€™s a reason - the location in Cornwall Park is lovely and the food is delicious and served quickly. Even though the cafe was packed we waited less than 10 minutes after ordering for our breakfast to arrive. Gluten free bread available. Only drawback is that it can be very noisy inside the cafe when busy.
Lilian Deng
It was a weekend & my first time. Was fairly busy but the wait staff tried her best to clear the crowd in a short while which was lovely. I ordered a Egg Florentine & reckoned that the eggs were a little overcooked for my liking.
Dyan
Went there on a weekend, hence, the crowd. However, the wait was not very long. Ordered a camomile organic tea to go with the smashed avocado which was a perfect match.
Kate Williamson
This place is always super busy with kids on a nice day. While it may ruin it would be nice to have some sort of gate and fencing to contain said kids so mums can have a coffee without chasing said kids to the far reaches. Coffee is not good and a bit pricey. Needs more toilets.
Ashleigh Hea
Food was great, and despite it being busy (probably more so than usual since it's the school holidays), there wasn't much wait time for food. I got the chicken schnitzel which was tasty and more filling than it looked. Wait staff are lovely! The only cause of concern was disorganisation in terms of delivering food. Luckily, my partner and I weren't explicitly affected, but we did get interrupted few times with things that we didn't order.

I visited here before 9:00am. Cafe was not too busy yet. This is first time, I expected can have very good coffee, but I had latte which was NOT HOT at all. It was weak, Ā just warm and in small cup. I was very disappointment for my coffee.Ā <br/><br/>My husband had almond milk mocha. Mocha is $5.5 and extra fee for almond milk was $0.5 on menu ( tired attached extra price photo but it didn't let me do I don't know why) so we thought it is $6 total . His almond milk mocha was also weak taste and not hot at all. Yes, they can make these horrible hot (not even hot) drink Ā still many customers is coming because only one cafe in this park. They don't need try anything.Ā <br/><br/>When we paid, they charged almond milk was extra $1. I said your menu said $0.5. The menu was front of me. Staff said syrup is $0.5 but almond milk is $1. I saidĀ <br/>" You never mention $1 on menu, only said extra is $0.5, how can we guess how much you charge?"<br/>Staff said<br/>" Yes, it's tricky...."<br/>I saidĀ <br/>" Do you want to trick your customers? This is not trick. Look your menu, where is said extra almond milk $1???"<br/>She look bit angry.Ā <br/><br/>Of course I paid extra $1. Just $0.5 difference I tried to tell myself. What I can do eles? However if you see menu said your coffee is $5, you expect is $5. Ā You don't want to play game how much shop will charge you when you pay that time. I don't want to do that. If they charge different price, what's the menu for? They don't think they need to rewrite menu, sounds like I was first customer Ā to tell them different charge.Ā <br/><br/>This cafe has good location, they can make terrible coffee, tricking customers, still they are having many customers. I had good walk in park, and I thought my husband and I can have nice coffee Ā at the cafe, but this happen made us feel bad. I will not coming back here.
Jes Yurak-Cauhepe
Met friends for lunch. Coffee was nice, but food was very disappointing. My partner and one of the others order the eggs benedict, both of their eggs came over cooked/hard and very basic. I ordered confit duck leg risotto. Received dry shredded duck on a average tasting risotto - for $28 and very small portion. Wonā€™t be coming back for food anytime soon.....
Biscuit Boy
Called into Cornwall Park Cafe for lunch on the weekend. Not one staff acknowledged us so we grabbed seats ourselves. No one came to our table so we went to the counter to order. The staff were ignorant and it felt like they weren't welcoming us. Coffees we ordered were horrible. Shots were burnt and had unpleasant bitterness. Yes we do understand you are busy but that doesn't mean that you can get away with bad service plus aweful tasting coffee. Not returning.
Neelam Chandra
The location is perfect especially on a nice sunny day.<br/>The service was good and the food came out fairly quick. My partner ordered their deconstructed iced mocha which was delicious and i would def recommend. I must say their coffees are really good here.<br/>To eat we ordered the chicken burger and bangers and mash and a bowl of fries.<br/>The chicken burger lacked alot of flavour and was really bland. So didnt particularly enjoy it.<br/>The fries were yum and cooked well and came with a really nice jalapeno mayo.<br/>The bangers and mash dish was okay. The gravy was a tad sweet for my liking but still okay.<br/>Food was abit disappointing.<br/>Would come back for a coffee if im ever strolling around cornwall.<br/>

Very busy cafe with lots of people. Tried some of the desserts and my favourite was the raspberry brownie. Chewy textures with resfreshing raspberry flavours. Like how it's served with whipping cream too :)
MataMan
Business breakfast. Slow service, no heating inside, very cold environment, a small menu selection, mediocre quality. The prices were average restaurant / bistro - cafe prices but the meals served just didnā€™t deliver. Not a winter menu. Wouldnā€™t recommend this place to anyone. šŸ‘ŽšŸ»
Jay
Came here for lunch, won't be back. The service was telling - long wait before anyone approached us to seat us, long waits before ordering too. The person serving us wasn't particularly happy.<br/><br/>What really made me sad was one of the waitresses scolding another when she dropped a used water glass (plastic) while cleaning up a table. Is this how you treat your staff? They deserve better.<br/><br/>The drinks were good, but $24 for a burger is really pushing it...
Rosanne Choy
Came in with mom last year. Crepe was thin and fruits were fresh. Syrup complimented crepe well. The mocha was perfect and the hot chocolate was at the right sweetness level. Salmon was cooked well and Eggs Benedict were delicious.
Aria Mendes
The staff were so lovely and our coffee and food came out quite fast considering how busy they were on a Sunday. The coffee was probably the best Iā€™ve had anywhere. Food was great but the menu could have a little more added to it though. <br/><br/>Definitely coming back and is probably now my favourite cafe!
Guneet Sachdev
Lovely location, helpful friendly wait staff. We ordered eggs Florentine and omelette. Unfortunately our food came out in 45 mins and we couldnā€™t enjoy our cold eggs :(
Auburn4000
Me and a friend had a late breakfast so we were looking for something filling. I was hoping for the omelette with avocado & bacon seen in previous reviews however it is no longer on the menu. Settled for an eggs florentine, hand cut fries, and my friend ordered bangers and mash.<br/><br/>Food was average. The hollandaise tasted like whipped butter and my meal arrived abit cold. The salmon didnā€™t taste as fresh. My friend had bangers and mash. The gravy and mash was also abit cold. Didnā€™t make any complaints as we were hungry man, we just tryna eat. <br/><br/>Coffee was great. Made perfectly. Service was okay. Staff abit awkward. <br/><br/>Overall. Average. Would come back for coffee but nothing more than that.

Great cafe to visit when one is at Cornwall Park. Staff always accomodating and extra friendly! Coffee today 4/5! Lizzy cafe manager the best!

Had a nice brunch after a walk through Twin Oak Drive. I ordered the corn fritter with an extra side of bacon. I was shocked at the pairing of sweet chili and avocado along side the fritter but they all worked in harmony. Although a little burnt, the fritter is actually extremely filling so I dont think my side of bacon was necessary or complimented the dish.

First time here, quite like the place. Was busy but we managed to get a table without a booking needed. Staff are nice and friendly, service was very quick. Food was very nice and the deconstructed coffee was something different but was great. Doesn't get my 5 star rating as people were walking around with their dogs close by while we were eating inside, shouldn't allow dogs inside only if they assisted dependant people; i.e; a guide dog. Other than that, I'd most likely revisit as their lunch menu sounds yum šŸ˜.
Cookingkenny
Rating on the coffee alone. Bought in an environmental friendly keep cup and once again they pour a paper cup. I had to go back to get my keepcup back. Also the almond milk was over heated resulting in a thin textured coffee.
Mary Underwood
met up with friends for breakfast. place was buzzing with families.<br/>lucky for me they had a table. service was good and fast. I ordered the scrambled eggs with a side of sausages as I do prefer to build my own meals due to dietary restrictions.<br/>my friend ordered the mushrooms with a Harrisa sauce and sukkah which looked amazing. my eggs were on the slightly colder side but overall very tasty. only reason I didn't mark higher, my friend ordered a coffee to be served with food which came out earlier. staff were nice but a bit all over the place.
DC
Great setting and location...however staff could be more professional and helpful with attention to ā€œcustomer serviceā€ as would make this a grand cafe. Coffee is OK not great, never eaten here...would I want to? Not sure. There is nice flat grounds outside as well as an ice cream cart...let your kids run wild!

Such a great place to be. The perfect spot for lunch...great ambience, beautiful surrounding and nice looking interior.<br/><br/>The staff are very attentive, food are beautifully presented...i have a good relaxing experience.<br/><br/>Great for 2 to 4 people from the seating capacity. You can get a table for 6 if you lucky.<br/><br/>oh and the coffee is great.<br/><br/>My favorite cuppachino so far is when im in Italy and this one is equally good too šŸ˜Š

First, I have to say from my experience here, I don't know how there could be any bad reviews for this place. The food was absolutely great, the service was good and the place is beautiful. My favourite thing my wife and I had was the schnitzel. Very tasty. It came with with greens, sauerkraut, pecorino and gribiche. My sandwich was good also, and the coffee was great, although maybe strong for some (I loved it). Will most certainly be back next time we are in Auckland.
Paoi Reyes
Average cabinet food, nothing spectacular. I specifically did not take a photo as it was half empty at 0900-1000 am (when the park is busy).<br/><br/>Passion fruit cupcake was a bit dry and not fresh. The ham and cheese baguette was surprisingly nice as it was made with garlic butter. <br/><br/>Food from the menu was average as well. I got the Eggs Florentine with bacon while my friend got the Full breakfast. Nothing much to comment as it was an okay meal.<br/><br/>Drinks were better than the meal. The plunger coffee for two was nice and plenty for two people, well priced as well. The cold pressed juice was nice and refreshing.<br/><br/>Look and feel was awesome though as it was very bright and open. Love the long tables and benches which is ideal for big groups. I love the fact that the cafe is dog friendly. Plenty of cute dogs to see!
Shamili Superapple
My mum and I came here on a busy Saturday morning for lunch. The ambience of this place is lovely; light and airy, situated in the middle of Cornwall Park near the rotunda. The staff are friendly and attentive, though it's unclear if you wait to be seated or just find a seat and they come to you. <br/><br/>We ordered the Lamb Salad ($22) and Coconut Chicken Burger ($24); both were incredibly disappointing, considering the price we paid. The salad was cold and bland, the lamb was cooked well but had no seasoning or flavour. The parsnip crisps on top were really oily and soggy. <br/><br/>The chicken burger was small, with two pieces of crumbed chicken on a brioche bun with coleslaw. The chicken was cold, and the crumb was slighty burnt. The brioche bun was dense and too sweet, and the coleslaw didn't taste fresh. The best part of my dish were the chips. <br/><br/>Wouldn't return here for the food at all. Might return to try coffee + cake.
Kelvin
Perhaps because of their near monopoly in the park they can afford for their service to be rubbish.. such a shame that hospitality can be reduced to condescending remarks and disrespectful attitudes...
Sandi
Iā€™ve yet to come here and they get my order right the first time, but having said that, the food is tasty and good. The coffee is hot and fresh. And the setting is incredible. <br/>
Mashee
Great location and setting right in the centre of Cornwall Park. Nice on a sunny day and easy with kids with all the outdoor area. Service and food was satisfactory we had the corn fritter and mushrooms. It didnā€™t blow us away but it was alright.
Jan
Had lunch here with a mate last week. Best thing I like about this place is the different dining area - under the umbrella outside, open-air seating under the veranda or inside the glass panels.<br/><br/>I ordered the chorizo squid salad and kombucha, friend had a panini and lemon cake from the counter, very satisfying. Will be back for the view and the relax vibe of this cafe.
Ayah
Great location, seating and coffee. Food itself was below average, the lamb salad was dry and sparkling water was flat/warm. We had table service but the order was incorrect and we got the bill before the food even arrived, odd.

Their Chai lattes are really weak. It's like having boiled milk with a touch of cardamom. Quite disappointing considering they charge the price of a large everywhere else for a small.<br/><br/>Their lemon loaf is amazing. So beautiful and goes really well with the yoghurt

Busy place, Good food and coffee. We had a pram it's it's easy to move around. Nice on a sunny day, outside tables with family's all around.

Took my partner here for his birthday brunch. Beautiful setting in Cornwall park and plenty of seating, inside or out in the sun ā˜€ļø <br/>Food and drinks were delicious. Loved the bread, tasted fresh. Hot chocolate was 10/10. Service could've been better, our waitress was a bit cold and distant but the lady at the counter was very lovely šŸ˜Š

Food was good but the winner for me is their Cornwall Press coffee! Legit haven't had such an amazing quality coffee in a loooong time, I dare to say its better than shaky Isles or at least compatible! I would defiantly go there again for food AND especially coffee. I just wish they would also add cold version of Cornwall press, would be really awesome for summer.

Ordered two deconstructed drinks. Hot chocolate and an iced mocha. The mocha was delicious, the hot chocolate was fine, perhaps i should of ordered it extra hot.<br/>The waiters were lovely and easy going and it was very clean

This place is very busy and we were lucky to get a table but we are glad we did. The food was of a real high quality and the staff friendly and professional. I had the Corn Fritters which were made differently than I am used to but were fantastic, I will go back just for them!

We have been here a couple of times and both experiences have been great. Nice atmosphere as this cafe located in the middle of cornwell park. Attentive and efficient staffs. Good value for money.<br/><br/>Both of our visits were for cakes and tea. Some cakes were good. Will definetely be back to try a few dishes from the menu.

Tried a decaf cappuccino ($4.50) and a slice of lemon cake ($8.50). Coffee wasn't exactly the best we've had. Doesnt have that deep taste and was very bitter. The lemon cake was huge and icing nice and sugary sweet, lemony flavour not too overpowering. They give you extra fresh cream too, yum. What's great about this place is the service - the maitre d was very friendly and went back and forth numerous times for us - to get some more hot milk for the coffee, to get another fork, to get some water, to put the cake in a takeaway bag etc. And of course, lovely location. <br/><br/>*Went back a second time and tried a toasted date scone. Was sooooo good.

Very nice.. lovely staff yummy food.. great atmosphere.. very busy cafe.. staff are great.. big meals.. husband loved the corn fritters the best he's ever had

This place was buzzing when we arrived at 11am. Had to wait for a table but did not mind as we managed to get our caffeine fix at the coffee truck right next to the cafe. Sipped a well made latte by the barista (5/5) :). <br/>Our seats were ready when we got back. Sat in the covered outdoor seating area. Loved the setting of this place as it was naturally lit and surrounded by nothing but nature. <br/>A Bacon and a Salmon Florentine was ordered. Food service was relatively quick suprisingly, woohoo. I had the bacon and it was delish! Loved how it came on a cute brioche bun, yum! My friend had the Salmon dish and due to her dietary requirement, had asked for a gluten free option in which she had been given gluten free toast instead (which looked dry and wished spread was given). <br/>Overall, enjoyed the service and food on my part. Extra bonus for the place being within the park, thus can walk off the meal after šŸ‘

Cornwall park cafe happens to be our local and we are so pleased it is. The food here is always delish, and the coffee is great.<br/>I've become a huge fan of the deconstructed hot chocolate...i think maybe purely for the fact of the marshmallows, flake and jaffas that you get to pimp your drink out with. <br/>We visited this weekend and I tried the corn fritter - so. So. Good.<br/>It hit a the table and is not only ridiculously pretty it tastes amazing too. Highly recommend giving it a go - it does get very very busy on a nice day but they are worth the wait <br/>

Had to ask three times where our coffee was and if it was coming and the staff didn't know who had served us originally. Still had to pay for it at the end. Asked for a blanket and it didn't come. Food was average and not filling.
Samnjohn56
Good food but bit expensive compared to food quality. Cost 28 dollars for a burger that wasn't the greatest and definitely wasn't worth it. Smart idea with the deconstruction drinks but lower the price. Not worth 9.50 to make your own coffee. Service is lovely though :)

Amazing food, great service and a great view. Definitely coming back here for another excellent lunch! Would recommend trying the risotto and amazing spiced Chai latte!

This cafe is nestled in wonderful Cornwall Park and is surrounded by the natural beauty the park offers. Ā We've visited here several times and it has always been busy. Ā The service was friendly and helpful, and although it did take a little while to arrive, our order did arrive. Ā Our group were not in a mad rush or anything and we spent the time just enjoying the atmosphere and company. Ā This place is popular so something must be working well there. Ā Recommended. :)

Started well with a nice welcoming, greeted and seated. <br/><br/>Took a while for our order to be taken, wait time for drinks and food were slow. Not all the meals came at once, and we were asked by the same waiter who took our order if we were waiting on anything else. There were only 2 other small tables occupied, but we reminded him of the order in full.<br/><br/>As we were waiting for the last meal to arrive to start eating together, we were advised 5 minutes later the chef had 'stuffed up' the dish and had to start from scratch but would do this as quick as possible. Okay sure, things happen.<br/><br/>Another half hour ticked by, still nothing. After asking about the meal, it showed up well over an hour after our initial order, no apology or acknowledgement like it was standard procedure. Don't know where our waiter went but new appointed waitress was very standoffish, and cold. Unimpressed. Couldn't be bothered dealing with this, we just won't be back and will advise friends not to go if asked. <br/><br/>Generous rating due to wait time, and service. Other food received was hit or miss. Fish raviolo undercooked and swimming in oil. Poached eggs were cooked beautifully. Coffees and shake were standard. Overall experience was underwhelming, service was a big let down.

Amazing place to pop into with a great menu and staff. Backdrop of the Cornwall park is lie no other. Great place for a venue for events also. Great addition to a great place

Place looks very slick and modern. Cafe can get really busy, especially during weekends.<br/><br/>I like the giant glass windows that allows a breathtaking view of Cornwall Park.<br/><br/>Food is satisfactory. Your typical breakfast and brunch menu. Nothing spectacular but all good ingredients.
Heartshrooms
Situated in the most idyllic setting lies Cornwall Park cafe in, you guessed it, Cornwall Park. The fit out was simple and exuded relaxed, Sunday family picnic vibes. I highly recommend you visit on a sunshiny day to take advantage of the outdoor dining area by the grass- no need to pack a picnic. There was a satisfactory lunch selection and while it sounded appetizing on the menu, it looked absolutely mouthwatering on the plate. A few sly glances at the table next to us were stolen before we finally plucked up the courage to ask which delectable looking dishes they were digging into.
Where To Next Auckland
This cute cafe has some of the best views in Auckland! Situated in the centre of Cornwall park, you can sit back soak up greenery for as far as the eye can see. There menu is filled with breakfast classics with a Cornwall park twist, not to mention most of their ingredients are grown right there on site! Our pick? Definitely grab one of their cheese scones! They're currently unrivalled as far as we're concerned!

I really enjoy the setting of this cafe, it is sooo beautiful to sit outside early in the morning. Very simple in decor but it gives the place a clean large open space. Staff have always been quite slow with taking our orders however the food doesn't take long. <br/><br/>The food is delicious! Last time I went here I had a Corn Pancake with avocado and it was delicious! Coffee is always hot and perfect.

We came here for a family meal one sunny afternoon. We were able to sit outside under an umbrella which was lovely. I had the egg white scramble which sounds very healthy, but with all the flavours and textures paired with it, it is lick-the-plate good! We waited a long time for the meals and only 3 out of the 4 came out, nothing for grandma. No toasted sandwich of all things. When it finally arrived it was both the wrong filling and bread. However the manager was caring and quickly replaced it and gave it for free with a free coffee. A lucky save! Flat white was lovely... although I had ordered a long black!

This afternoon we visited this wonderful place. We loved the beautiful food which we ordered. The service was good. We will visit the cafe again.

Went to Cornwall Park Cafe and had an iced chocolate deconstructed and a lemon slice. Since it was my first time, the iced chocolate tasted quite nice given that the chocolate was rich. The lemon slice lacked the lemon flavour but other than that it was good. The service was great as the waitresses were friendly. Would love to come again.

The food is good but the hospitality is terrible. One particular lady there has criticised me on numerous occasions. Twice she has insulted my clothing choices. She has also made other rude remarks about me. An example of this is today after I had given money to a friend to pay for me she said, "I bet that girl is making you pay." Another example of this is when I went to the bathroom I forgot to put my knife and fork together. She then went up to my friends and said, "that girl has terrible table manners." I do not understand why the staff at cornwall park believe that this is an adequate way to treat paying customers. I certainly will not return to this cafe or recommend it to others after the poor service I have experienced. The wait on food is also dreadful. The staff at cornwall park cafe definitely need to reevaluate their morals and how their hospitality will affect their cafe.

Came here at 10:30am on a Sunday. It was really busy, and we were told there'd be a 10-15 minute wait for a table. 25 minutes later, and when we asked what was happening, it appeared they'd forgotten about it. Decent enough food - although the Rueben really didn't compare to an American one as there wasn't nearly enough meat - but the service was pretty terrible. Disinterested wait staff, orders arriving many minutes apart, orders arriving without cutlery, etc. Probably wouldn't bother trying again.
Kirsten
Came in to try their coffee. We were greeted by the lovely members of the staff, so service was on point. Ordered a small cappuccino with cinnamon topping and a slice of carrot cake. Decent coffee they have here, and the carrot cake was nice and moist. A great place to chill with friends on a sunny day!

Been here for morning coffee around 11am and it was packed!! Maybe because it was good weather and school holiday. That's why service was not quite good. I ordered deconstructed hot mocha, muffin and pie from the cabinet. <br/><br/>The coffee was good and fun! but I was waiting almost 30mins for food. I asked the waiter about it and he said '5mins' but still no food was served. And they were just food from cabinet, easy and quick to grab and serve, right? I was waiting for a longgg time and decided to leave and pay just for coffee. I understand that it was busy when I arrived but I waited till people started to leave and still no food. The service needs to be improved.

Service was excellent eventhough it was a busy day. We had the kumara fritters and market fish which were both delicious. Prices are reasonable and coffee was good!

Great weekend spot been here a few times, the crab benedict was different and wow, place Can be quite busy but food still comes out quite quick and hot, service is good as well can't wait to see what you guys bring on the summer menu..

Came here on Father day when we were walking the coast to coast walk.<br/>It was very busy but the staff were very attentive.<br/>The food was delicious and well worth the wait <br/>Highly recommended<br/>

Most dog-friendly cafe ever!<br/><br/>But it is soooo busy, it is very hard to get the attention of a waiter if you need anything and everything just gets a bit chaotic. Especially if you sit outside, it all gets a little too messy.<br/><br/>The cornwall press was very yummy, HUGE french press for two so definitely great for a pick-me-up before hikes up one tree hill. They also gave you some digestives to go with it which I though was great! <br/><br/>I had an omelet with pulled pork and watercress. Really hearty dish but the pulled pork lacked flavour. My partner had the big breakfast which definitely was BIG. It had a great mixture of things and all of it was very delicious. The scrambled eggs were done perfectly. <br/><br/>The food did take a while to come out though so probably not ideal for diners who doesn't have too much time to wait around.<br/><br/>Overall a great place to grab a bite and caffeine up before walks around the park. It is also a great place for the pooches to socialise, my babies had a great time meeting all the dogs under the tables!
Eric Lee
I had a coffee and piece of sweet. Coffee was above avarage and I like bright atmosphere with green surround. Smily waitless, and great service , too.<br/>This place make me want to come back, especially with my kids.<br/><br/>

What a lovely spot this cafe is located in! The food was nice and the service is good. i had the pork burger and fries which was pretty good. I also tried the cornwall brew, a plunger coffee which i quite enjoyed. No complaints here and i would definitely come back again to try other meals on the menu.

Nice cozy place to hang out on a Saturday afternoon, especially on a sunny day like today. It was busy, but the front staff managed well. We got a table promptly and ordered straight away. Our hot beverage order came within minutes. Really impressed with the service so far. But it was a different story with food order. It took approx 30min for our chips to come. A tad long for just deep fried chips. But the staff were friendly and gave 2 follow ups on our order. Overall, i was happy with this place. Highly recommended

Went late in the afternoon after a walk so never got to try their kitchen food<br/>I love cafes with a good cabinet-this cafe certainly did! I wanted to get so many from the cabinet but held in the temptation and ordered the lemon tart with a capuccino <br/>It has made me want to come back!

It was a very busy morning in the cafe and despite the rainy winter morning, the staff were very attentive and friendly.Ā <br/><br/>The food was superb, we got a table and our deconstructed iced coffees were there within minutes. This drink is so much fun to make and you can make it exactly how you like it--Plus the espresso they make is amazing.Ā <br/><br/>I am a big fan of Cornwall Park Cafes granola and I love how it changes from season to season, and this one with the orange marmalade and freeze dried strawberries was delicious. The new head chef has tweaked some cafe classics and executed them perfectly! I really want to go back and try the porridge asap.Ā <br/><br/>Love the location and how it makes the cafe so unique.

Best coffee and delicious breakfast, awesome place to have breakfast. Had an excellent service by the waiting staff, very polite and attentive

Great place for a Sunday brunch! Shame about the wait but luckily the food was delicious. Lovely atmosphere with all the dogs running around the park and outdoor tables. Would definitely go back!

It's such a let down to the beautiful Cornwall park! What a waste of space.<br/><br/>This place SUCKS! We visited on a weekday , the place was busy but still<br/>a few vacant tables. We waited to be seated while several staffs walked pass is and completely ignored us. Finally someone came, she took one look at us, gave us an evil "not another filthy Asian" look and reluctantly took us to a table. She then literally threw the menus on the table and left without saying anything. <br/><br/>We were only there for afternoon tea, so l walked up to the counter and places my order (because apparently staffs there are very good at ignoring people). The cabinet food was all right and we did enjoy the view. However the drama of getting the order, being ignore again at the counter and the unpleasant looks the staffs gave you , it's just not on!<br/><br/> l won't be going back there just for a fact that they don't care about their customers! Oh should l say they're being completely racist and unless you're of Caucasian race you're not welcomed there! <br/><br/>It's not just one of the staff with bad attitudes! That's the general feeling of the whole place. That made me believe this is the culture of this place ! If the owner is some sort of soulless money hungry arrogant being, you'll only see that attitude reflected on the staffs! <br/><br/>This place has actually ruined the peace and beauty of Cornwall Park! Don't bother going there!

This has to be one of my favourite spots in Auckland. The food is amazing! The staff are always so friendly. My most recent visit was with a friend and her 10 month old. The staff went out of their way to ensure mum and baby were comfortable. I'm looking forward to lunch there again soon!
Pepa
Very beautiful place surrounded by the most amazing park in Auckland. I have been there twice, once for food and coffee (ok food, cold coffees) and the second time for take away coffees (cold coffees). I think it's too busy for quality.

I often ask people I meet, "if you were on death row and were going to be euthanized tonight, what would your last meal request be?". The answers tend to be either a rustic home cooked meal or some lavish a la carte styled dish fit for royalty.<br/><br/>My choice, whenever that question is spun back on me is a home styled roast lamb with gravy, mint sauce and all the trimmings. After visiting this cafƩ yesterday, if ever I'm asked that question again I shall answer with "The Chocolate and Hazelnut cake from Cornwall Park CafƩ".<br/><br/>This cake will turn gay men straight. If women eat this cake, sexual interactions with men will cease, women just won't see the point anymore. This cake is dangerous.
Gina Kensington
LOVE this cafe! Enjoyed a lunch here for the first time yesterday, it is now my new favourite! The food was outstanding, the staff are super attentive and all work together to create an amazing cafe experience. I can't fault one single thing. Of course, being in One Tree Hill is an advantage but even if it was down a back alley in the worst part of town, this cafe would still shine and I'd still make the journey!

We went to cafe today with my father who is 68 and my two kids. We weren't aware that it was wait to be seated. One of workers came over and told us 'You need to move as there people sitting there' you cant sit there! She spoke very rudely to us.I later found out she was manager. We have been to this cafe before as food and service have been good. But after how we were treated we won't be returning. Customer service needs a lot of work at this cafe.
MissEstherZ
Pretty location and set up, although because it's so busy it's also very loud.<br/><br/>Waited a while to be seated, which is understandable on a Saturday. My friend and I both ordered cabinet food, which we were assured would come faster and not have the half hour wait that was for the kitchen.<br/><br/>Half an hour later still no food or water, although we had our coffees. I had to get a waitress to follow up with our food. They seemed to have momentarily forgotten about us, and were confused before bringing out our food which was a toasted sandwich and a pie that was lukewarm at best- obviously had been sitting and waiting to be picked up.<br/><br/>It was good we had time- this is not a place if you've only got an hour or so to eat on Saturday. <br/><br/>Food wise I had a kimchi pastrami sandwich which was very mustardy and salty. I did like the chips though, good portions and were piping hot. <br/><br/>I wouldn't go back on a weekend, and I don't like being forgotten about. Would not go out of my way to come back, but I wouldn't be upset about it.

Beautiful breakfast of Artichoke with Avocado Cream. You can not beat real food full of flavour and a great coffee in stunning surroundings.

It is very under average cafe... Looks good but the food was real average, over price....wasted the location.....Also the staffs were very rude.

Excellent location, horrible and absolute disappointing service ever in Auckland!Me and a group of my friends been left for waiting a table more than one hour, and the staff gave us the worse experience ever, letting others to take the tables who arrived later than us,and when we ask how long still need to wait for(after an hour later),the staff just making different excuses and challenged us take the table or not, still wait for the table or not!Worst service that I experienced! Defiantly won't go again! <br/>

The worst cafe in New Zealandļ¼ļ¼ļ¼Grumpy, rude, impatient staff!!! We 12 people (include 2 elder people and 3 under 4 kids) were told to wait for our table more than 1.5 hours, but at the same time the same staff kept guiding other customers, big and small groups, to their table. Every time we asked if the table is available, she just ignored and repeated we can leave if we did not want to wait, with impolite attitude and ridiculous excuses!!! Never recommend to anyone!<br/><br/>How about the food? Sorry, you won't get a table if you are not white people! Travellers please don't go to this place as it will ruin the image of New Zealand, we have much nicer and friendly people in other place. <br/>
Annie Yip
The cafe locates in a fabulous location, however, the rude, grumpy, unprofessional staff ruin our impression of the cafe. The staff left us waiting for 2 hours before we chose to leave. In the meantime, other people arrived after us, were guidedto their table without waiting for long. Every time when we checked with the staff, she just did not listen until we finished the question and just said repeatedly 'i do not want to argue with you, do you still want to wait?' My friends and I would never go back and also do not recommend people to go too. <br/>
Haruki
Bad/disappointed service, the staff there will need more training of how to work under pressure. Busy or not enough staff is not an excuse. Or hire someone who is passion/proud of the job they do. <br/>
Rhegan Smith
So much potential for this cafe - best location it's the loveliest spot for breakfast in the park. <br/><br/>Menu was a little unoriginal and the cabinet food didn't provide a lot of options. We ordered the green tomato omelette and the big breakfast, omelette was extremely tomato heavy and took away from the meal a bit, the big breakfast was not as big as it suggested, well cooked elements however would have preferred more of them. <br/><br/>Would recommend for location and coffee, I'd give the food a miss.
John Pang
Great location, but the services was just horrible, totally disappointed. Duty manager was so rude. Definitely wont go there again. It was a nightmare to spend my Sunday there. <br/>

Excellent service // lovely location // friendly staff // nice food <br/><br/>Came here for lunch yesterday and I absolutely loved it, the cafe is located within Cornwall Park and looks very clean and tidy. We got seated straight away and it was very organised despite the fact that it was very busy. I had the salmon bagel which I thought was very nice, I did however find 2 fish bones in the salmon. The coffee was really nice as well, small but nice. The hand cut fries are delicious, they're nice and crispy and came with really nice aioli. Staff was very helpful and friendly, calm and collected. I will definitely come back and I definitely recommend šŸ˜Š I got a picture of the coffee but I completely forgot about the food! Guess I'll have to come back to take pictures of the food ;)

Goodness gracious! The service was awful twice here! First time there was a queue, and when we suggested to take the phone numbers down of people waiting for a table and call when the table is available, we were told no and that we have to wait in a queue for 1 hour. Second time we waited for 40 min for our food, and when we asked about our rose it was discovers that or order was lost in the system. Not going again.
Lei Lei
We came in about lunch time on a Friday, been waiting nearly 30mins for a table. The waiter who took our order was poker-faced and bland. I ask a waitress for a fork, she replied loudly 'SAY PLEASE!' I have no clue why she was so mad, especially in front of customer. I would not returning with such insult!
Abbey Lissaman
Bought flat whites and a slice of lemon and pistachio loaf to take away. Sat under the trees in Cornwall park. GREAT coffee! Took a while but worth it. The loaf was yummy too. Such a busy cafe! Might return to try some more.

Whats with the bad waiter attitudes lately. The guy at this place was very rude, arrogant and obnoxious which makes him an an epic fail. This ruined a great lunch on a sunny day between Xmas and new year. The food was great and the rest of the staff were magic.
Kim M
I have been to the Cornwall Park Cafe twice but I don't think I will be returning. Ā I came at the time when it was not too busy. Ā I ordered a Chai Late and it took over 15 mins to get it and when it arrived it was luke warm, had to ask for someone to get me another one. Ā She did not look too pleased. Ā I waited for quite some time again. Ā It was not a decent size or price compared to many cafes I have been to. Ā The items in the glass cabinet were not that exciting either - over priced too.
Cindyavocado
The food is pretty low-standard. Looking at other tables, I see people eating soup with toasted white sandwich bread. I mean come on, what cafe serves cheap , toasted sandwchich bread these days? Sourdough please! Futhermore, it said on the menu that the bread was home baked. Totally a lie. Their salmon bagel is not sexy at all, and they don't even use best ugly bagels, clearly the best bagels around. Do the people who run this cafe even live in auckland?Ā <br/>The only word I could use to describe the bagel was sad. It was a commercial supermarket bagel with a few flakes of salmon and some wilted watercress leaves. No magnificent smear of cream cheese or glistening sheets of smoked salmon. Just that. The bircher was very average, after a few bites, it became mind-numbingly boring. The coffee was pretty standard as well. Oh, and did I mention that most of the cabinet food is gluten free? Please, stop trying to be little bird unbakery and serve some real cakes please. The pistachio loaf (gluten free) was way too sweet, with a weird, sandy texture that made me cringe. The butter they bring to eat with the loaf was dripping wet with water. Why on earth is your butter wet? The deconstructed ice chocolate was the only nice thing we order. I loved the idea of building your own drink, pouring milk and chocolate together and topping the glass jar with whipped cream.Ā <br/><br/>The interior is nice, white and spacious. There are no magazines to read while you wait. Situated in a popular attraction for locals and tourists, I had high expectations for this cafe in cornwall park. I feel as if this cafe is run by a bunch of people who haven't lived in auckland long enough to have gone to a couple of good cafes and figured out what the standard is. Why couldn't the hip group taken over here instead? Why do they serve sandwich bread?

It was three off us last Saturday, it was busy but not that busy, lots of staff members floating around and the service was BAD, food is below average. We were seated and given menu and water, then forgotten...we waited, smiled, eyeing waitresses and waiters walking past...no one saw us, how amazing....so we waved, a couple of times, eventually got the attention of one lady, who gave us a stare, then decided to wipe down a table and walked away....finally got our order taken, since one of us is lactose intolerant and according to the waiter who I 'caught' by the counter said all their sandwich were pre-paid, and the best option on menu will be the tomato and bacon sandwich....and when it arrived its taste told you that the chef didn't give a shit, just heartless food....which is really sad for a venue on such a great location.... and of course, no one came back to check our meal or to top up water....you see waiting stuff floating around ALL the time, but no one gave a shit about you....such a culinary shame, and i'm convinced whoever runs this cafe, they are heartless people who don't understand that they are in a industry called hospitality. will never go back again.
Melodysunauckland
We just had coffee in park, the girl dropped one cake to us. Thought was a complement sweet for afternoon tea, we took it. The girl came back and asked:" why you took it?" We paid her $4.50 and walked away. Never come back again, the afternoon ended badly.

When we arrived the cafe was extremely busy so we had to wait 15 minutes before getting seated.<br/><br/>I had an ice chocolate which was delicious. Also, I ordered the cornwall park burger which was a very big, generous size however with addition of the chips, it was a bit too much. Overall the burger was tasty but with its size it made it messy to eat.<br/><br/>The other got a lamb two ways and he did not enjoy that. The flavors were weird and it didn't compliment the lamb well.

Poor, incredibly poor. Can't say too much about the food, as only my partner ate, but the service was terrible. There were lots of smaller incidents like asking a number of times for a highchair and having to get it ourselves after being ignored, but the maitre d took the cake when she literally knocked over our two year old (in the "kid friendly"area) and instead of apologizing or checking she was alright, mumbled some rubbish about needing a clear walkway and continued on with what she was doing. Unbelievable.

What's not to like, beautiful surroundings and good food. And even if you don;t have time for the park it's worth a visit.<br/><br/>The house-made beans are great, I prefer them a little more cooked but the ricotta and eggs adds a smoothness to the proceedings which makes up for it.<br/><br/>I've had the brisket burger too which had lots of great flavours and is served with tasty (and massive) hand-cut fries.<br/><br/>Lastly I've also ordered a reuben sandwich (for takeaway) and it was one of the best sandwiches I've had. This was mostly down to the delicious brown bread but the other ingredients did it justice.<br/><br/>One issue had me scratching my head: I ordered a pot of tea and it came in a beautiful urn. I waited a few minutes for it to brew and was surprised to find the tea bag was in the cup, not the tea pot, buried under the milk flask. Why?<br/><br/>I've never been when it hasn't been busy but i've never had a problem getting a seat and the service is good too. Be prepared for babies/toddlers though, it's the in place for mums to catchup. Oh and parking can be a problem.
CherryPie
the food was really good, the drinks are so good. we ordered a soda and ice mocha, the ice mocha is so special, I wish there was an ice cream, then it will be perfect. the burger is so juicy and big. love it!!! love the environment there, sitting outside under the sun, it is a good place to enjoy the weekend.

Slide down at the park!<br/><br/>We are locals who loves cornwall park and as we are here almost everyday its nice to see a place to come get coffee and lunch. This place was brand new and stunning but is that enough?Ā <br/><br/>The 1st time we are here the menu reads with terminology of a chef, you have some sous vide, fluid gel and compressed items, makes you feel like "oohhh that sounds fancy and technical" but that menu is just a bad start of putting your expectations too high. On all the occasions we visited this place was very unpleasant and every time I was here I get really sad as everything that can go wrong is simple stuff, from the old menu from my 1st visit is the baked beans which is so uncooked, omelette is over cooked and the soup of the day is really bad. 2nd time was the Sous vide duck breast and I ordered the smoothie, sadly the duck was soft but it hasnt been rendered properly, puree was nice though thank god they probably have a thermo mix blender, worst part was my smoothie its like apple juice with floating green moss in it, but I came back again just to get 2 coffee and a slice of cake from the cabinet and it took me 20 mins to get it. Its also sad that the wait staff here was one of the worst, running like individuals and no team work and have consistently mess my orders every time we are here. I wish you all the best, but I am not coming back till someone I trust give me the GO signal.

Me my wife and oldest son went to Cornwall Park Cafe on a Sunday afternoon, it was busy but we got a table pretty quickly, staff were very nice and were very knowledgable in their menu. This cafe is very kid friendly and efficient.<br/><br/>The food was well rounded very well presented and was flavoursome. My wife had the black pudding and i had the cornwall burger which was good value in my eyes.My son had the corn-fed chicken which was perfectly cooked. The coffees were also perfect some in the best in auckland and were also came out very quickly. My son got an ice cream from the caravan that was there also the food truck that had takaway coffees which is a great addition to perfect place. My overall thoughts of this cafe is that it has great food great coffee and looks well managed,i will make sure become a regular at this place,i highly recommend to anyone who is looking for the best cafe to go its right here at cornwall park.

We really enjoyed our meal at Cornwall Park Cafe. Ā We came here for an early Saturday lunch on a beautifully sunny day and were lucky to be placed at a great table in the corner looking at the park and the people going by.<br/><br/>The place is kid friendly with high chairs and toys for them to play with outside, but the kids' menu doesn't have much choice. Ā However, they do have a range of baked items and in the end we chose a club sandwich for the little one from the cabinet.<br/><br/>I ordered the burrata with compressed watermelon, served with herb oil, cucumber relish, radicchio and orange segments. Ā I really enjoyed this meal - it wasn't too heavy and was refreshing and tasty. Ā The burrata was beautifully smooth and creamy and paired very well with the sweet, juicy watermelon.<br/><br/>Hubby had the burger and chips. Ā The chips were enormous! Ā We did note that it was served differently to the table next to us, but they must have run out of boards. Ā This place gets really busy! Ā Of course that didn't affect the taste and he really enjoyed his meal.<br/><br/>The service was friendly and efficient and the menu has a really interesting and different range of options for breakfast, lunch and drinks. Ā A really pleasant experience that I would be more than happy to repeat.

Bad service and average food. Shame for such a great venue. Lots of staff but they don't seem to be on the ball. Don't think I'll be going back.

I have to say i was really disappointed. Although the ambience and setting was fantastic and the staff and service was good, friendly and professional - the food was a real let down<br/><br/>We went earlyish - 9.00am on a Saturday as we knew it gets busy - and i understand why with that location and setting<br/><br/>I had the eggs benedict with bacon, and the bacon was to my taste under-flavoured. i expected salty and smokey and it seemed light on both to me. Eggs were great - free range and cooked perfectly. Hollandaisse was good too<br/><br/>My wife had the granola and the serving size was tiny and she commented that the yoghurt was tasteless<br/><br/>My son had mushrooms which came with a poached egg (badly undercooked) and a pesto which had a very unpleasant flavour<br/><br/>The 5 of us all agreed that it was average at best and we wont be returning - which is a shame as it is one of the nicer settings in Auckland<br/><br/>I get that it is a matter of personal taste and i am sure there are others who love the bacon and the pesto and the yoghurt - but it was not to our taste

Been here a few times now for brunch/lunch and I've been really impressed. The ambience and location is beautiful, set inside Cornwall Park with a great view.Ā <br/><br/>The food was delicious. I tried the corn fed chicken with bulgar wheat, tomino cheese, aubergine, roasted grape vinaigrette and chicken crackling. Never had chicken so succulent! Presentation was beautiful and hands down the fat chips are a must have. On a separate occasion I tried eggs bene served with ham and croissant - very yum and the poached eggs were just right. They also have yummy treats on display like salted caramel banana cake, macarons and pastries!<br/><br/>Service is pretty good, though I highly advise not coming here on a sunny day during the school holidays - what a nightmare. Just too many people ruin the lovely setting and they don't take bookings so can't guarantee you'll get a table.

I came here with my mum and it was PACKED. It was super busy so we had to wait for a table but the staff were friendly and kept updating us on the waiting times.<br/>The menu has a few unusual additions like a deconstructed iced coffee which was presented really well and overall the food was great. Prices were a little bit higher than most places but our meals were really nicely presented and the wait staff were all really friendly.

Been this cafe yesterday. I try to ask the waitress to heat up my baby food. The gal do for 30sec. Then is not hot enough. So I Ned to ask for another 30 sec heat up. They refuse to do it. They say this is owner policy. So upset they don't want to heat my baby food. At the end we left the cafe without ordering any food. And we go frolic cafe. They willing to heat my baby food. And we really think this is ridiculous. I won't be back.

Was taking a weekday sneak peak through the park to check the daffodils, and thought that maybe a good day to check out the 'new' cafe.<br/><br/>Was surprisingly busy - but after having our food - I realised that perhaps not so surprisingly busy....<br/><br/>Potato Cake with poached duck egg, jerusalem artichoke pureeĀ <br/><br/>Mushroom cobbler<br/><br/>Beakfast / brunch menus can get a little ho-hum but they have broken that image a little here - the mushroom cobbler was testimony to that - I haven't seen one of these in a looooonnng time and it really was 'comfort food' - such a simple dish, done well!!

Really good addition to the Auckland food scene in an area of town that doesn't have much. A limited menu but a good one with cabinet food also available. I had the brisket burger which was very tasty. They happily swapped the bun for gluten free bread which was nice and light (shock, horror!) and there is a small wine list which suits the offering. Service was efficient and friendly.

Came here for lunch during a week day. Worst experience. <br/>First problem: took forever to take our order, ended up having to go to counter to make out order.<br/>Secondly: when our coffees arrived the order was wrong.. So had to wait longer for the right one.<br/>Thirdly: one meal came out without a component so waited for that to come out and they had forgotten about my boyfriends order. This made the wait even longer!! When it all did come out it was below parr.<br/>Fourthly: charged us for the wrong order. Ended up paying $2 more on our bill. But by this time we just wanted to get out of there.<br/>Some waiters were useless and on the bitchy side.<br/><br/>Will NOT be back! <br/>(The only good thing about this cafe is they serve sparkling water)<br/>

Went on a Saturday for lunch. Place was very busy as expected. The food was good but service was terrible. Staff seem inexperienced and were rude towards customers. When we asked if we could place our order from one of the floor staff we were told by the girl that she didn't take orders and that was the end of it. No help after that. Had to wait another 20 for someone to come to our table. <br/>On my second visit the wait time for service was still about 15 min, but this time the cafe was completely empty. We sat in the verandah area with 2 kids. One of the staff started spraying the area we were sitting at with fly spray.... Not very considerate! <br/>

Always busy even on a week day because it's so darn good!! Great location long needed at Cornwall Park, easy free parking, super menu (last visit the lambs fry was just delicious) with well selected wines (had a great rose) fresh appetising cabinet food and good coffee, friendly owner and staff who find time in between serving to keep it tidy and clean and even enjoy a quick chat and laugh. You cannot book so may be asked to wait and given an approx time, which providing it is fine is no problem to sit outside enjoying the view and the greenery but cold wet weather may not be so pleasant. It is a large open venue with windows all round to enjoy the surrounding park, has a conservatory and surrounding covered area with more tables. All amenities are there. Looking forward to the summer menu now. 4.5 because you may wait - not their fault just so popular.

Came here on a rainy Saturday for some lunch. The place was busy, lots of people coming in looking for a table while we dined. I was fascinated by the deconstructed drinks on the menu and ordered a deconstructed hot chocolate and deconstructed ice coffee. The mains were good with nice flavours and quality ingredients but I will definitely recommend the drinks and the sweet pastries over the mains. Would love to come back when the weather is warmer.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS: Great to see this new addition in arguably my favourite place in Auckland! With great indoor outdoor flow, I imagine this place will be a hit over the summer. We visited at around 2pm and couldn't believe how busy it was!<br/><br/>FOOD: we shared the berry muffin and pistachio slice and both tasted fresh, light and buttery. <br/><br/>COFFEE: tasty and served in gorgeous blue cups.<br/><br/>SERVICE: okay if unspectacular. Staff seemed to be flying across the room to clear spaces. <br/><br/>I get the sense this cafe is always busy so it may not appeal to all people. There were also lots of kids in the cafe too so probably not the space for quiet time.

Busy, busy, busy!! We popped in for afternoon tea and CPC was bustling. There were a couple of Mother's groups there enjoying the sun, so there's a great family atmosphere @ CPC.<br/><br/>We were lucky enough to get a table straight away too, the coffee's good and the staff are courteous and efficient. We ordered a muffin and loaf slice w. our coffees to share and they were fine, but because it was so busy, we couldn't really sit back and relax. <br/><br/>We felt like we had to leave as soon as we'd finished as our table was cleared pretty promptly. This spot will be amazing in Summer though and great for take away coffees.

Atmosphere was great, workers were very bubbly. Food was good for the price, the DIY iced chocolate was pretty cool you can adjust the sweetest to your liking!

Weā€™ve been meaning to try the Cornwall Park CafĆ© for some time now and the opportunity presented itself for a family gathering on Sunday morning.<br/><br/>Itā€™s hard to imagine a more beautiful setting than smack in the middle of the treasure that is Cornwall Park. As a family we have been regular visitors for many years ā€“ with our children back in the day and now with Oli and Milly. Spring is definitely in the air with the daffs starting to appear and calves and lambs afrollicking.<br/><br/>The sun was shining brightly on this ā€˜springā€™ morning as we rolled up at 10-ish hoping that we would be early enough to score a table straightaway. No such luck Iā€™m afraid but the gorgeous setting makes waiting almost a pleasure. Fifteen minutes later we were seated ā€“ pleasantly by wait staff who turned out to be attentive and helpful throughout - and the first flat white of the day was ordered while we perused the eclectic menu.<br/><br/>Lately I have been indulging my taste for kidneys and lambs fry so I was delighted to see that CPC has lamb kidneys on the menu. Iā€™m hesitate to use the generic term for such delicacies. Yes ok then, the term is offal which conjures up a shudder and shaking of the head from most people. I prefer to use the euphemistic ā€˜variety meatsā€™ as my google search for synonyms revealed.<br/><br/>I risk of course the opprobrium of readers for the juxtaposition of lamb kidneys for brunch while watching frolicking lambs. Donā€™t think Iā€™ve really got an answer for that Iā€™m sorry!<br/><br/>So, onto the ordering and not surprisingly I had the Lambs kidneys w Pedro Ximenez cream, shallot, pine needle oil and mustard leaf. It was fantastic. And as an aside the other two great spots for these rarely seen ā€˜variety meatā€™ dishes are Andiamo who do a wicked kidneys and bacon and Maryā€™s who serve a tasty lambs fry and bacon on potato cakes. <br/><br/>Rebecca had the Eggs Benedict, blood orange hollandaise, watercress, toasted croissant w hand cut bacon and Deb had the Cornwall Park Potato Rosti [V], duck egg, wild mushroom, artichoke purĆ©e. Both were declared <br/><br/>Oli had the pancakes and maple syrup from the kidsā€™ menu which he devoured with great gusto. I do like it when cafes include what CPC amusingly describe as ā€˜For the kid in all of usā€™. Kids like simple stuff and while pancakes won on the day Oli could have had House baked beans, cheese melt or Hens egg and soldiers.<br/><br/>Dan had brought the dog so he wasnā€™t allowed in. We did pass him a flat white and savoury scone through the gap in the glass paneling though - we were in the ā€˜outsideā€™ seating area where the glass paneling and overhead heater kept us cosy and warm.<br/><br/>CPC is in a fantastic setting, has a menu that is different enough to be interesting, excellent Allpress coffee and staff that are friendly, helpful and attentive. <br/><br/>Iā€™m not surprised youā€™ve got to queue up at 10 oā€™clock on a Sunday morning. The wait, in such a delightful setting, is worth it.<br/><br/>Thanks CPC.

Nothing much to write about their food...i went there on a steady weekday and they seems busy from outside but they were not really busy inside. Lot of confused staff was running around and no one was very attentive after waiting for 10 min on the counter some one came and i had to ask her for the menu and table. the waitress didn't come back to me for anothet 10mins and there were few free tables with dirty dishes on it. Which no one was clearing it. So i left l.. Terrible service...

Only had coffee here so far on a horrible winter day. Service seemed great and pretty efficient. Would need to try the food as looked great but unsure I would be able to eat anything there!

Great cafe setting in the park, and excellent service! Our family tried the porridge, granola, eggs bene, spicy apple pancakes and coffees plus juice etc. Ā All dishes were beautifully presented with a flower or herbs to garnish; we also took away a few pieces of their delish banana cake for later. Ā  We highly recommend this cafe! Ā With the combination of great service and food this cafe is worth the outing, plus a nice walk in the park after; really is a nice way to finish. Ā Of course it is doggy friendly too. Ā I hope they put a water bowl out for dogs, and some places to tie up pooches - but you can sit at outside tables with your doggy, on a nice day.

I was super excited when I hear a cafe was opening in Cornwall park. For years Cornwall park has been my go to for a walking and running destination but what has been missing is a place to grab a coffee after a walk with a friend.<br/>The day we went it was rainy but with the sides down the outside seating was warm enough, and the place was bustling!<br/>The coffee was perfect and the items in the cabinet looked tempting.<br/>We had the apple pan cakes and mum ordered a plate of sides.

Busy Monday afternoon, acoustics meant that it was hard to have a conversation. Idyllic location though. Waitress adequate but not very cordial, didn't feel very welcome. Coffee burnt. Food expensive and on the back of our introduction we decided not to risk further disappointment and went down to Bento in Royal Oak which was excellent.

Great setting in Cornwall Park, tentative staff and appealing menu. Gets very busy so be prepared you may have to wait.<br/><br/>He said - Eggs Benedict with Salmon was very tasty although needed a sharper knife to get through the bagel.<br/><br/>She said - Granola was delicious and well presented.<br/><br/>We will be back!

Finally opened in May 2015 after a fire caused delays. Great addition to the park and well set out.<br/><br/>This place is a regular hangout on a Saturday morning for the parkrunners and provides a wide range of food to keep them happy.<br/><br/>Coffee good and wide range of tasty snacks.<br/><br/>Eggs were a bit hit and miss and the cafe does get very busy - they are new and I got the impression they are learning to cope.<br/><br/>However very very friendly with a clean set up and def worth a try.

Disaster. Turned up at 11.30 on a Saturday, cafe looked busy with big lines of people ordering at the counter and waiting for coffee but tables looked free so not too bad. Tried to get a table, told there was 10-15 minute wait when there seemed to be 3 tables empty but not cleared. Staff all wandering about with glazed looks on their faces unable to help. Barista was making coffee and taking it out to tables?! Looked like a disaster waiting to happen if we even waited for a table. Left.
