Review Tombo - Auckland Central

M
Small buffet restaurant, food was good and fresh. Not many options for bbq and hotpot, decent variety of hot foods. They are always busy and when i went you have to line up for quite sometime to get food. A little too cramped and not relaxed dinner. Food was enjoyable.
Crytos
Great place and extremely affordable. It is BYO if you choose and one bill per table (no splitting). The staff are so attentive, often changing the baking paper on the grill and clearing empty plates. Definitely will be returning, great atmosphere and way to share the cooking.
Liliana Finau
Hands down the best Korean bbq buffet. All you can eat & worth the money. They also offer hot pot and have their own shabu shabu mix. And the staff are so nice. Love the atmosphere!!!

This restaurant was small and it was always busy. Group booking is a must. Food was good. Price $40/ person for dinner which includes bbq & small hot pot. Staff was helpful. There is not much space for free parking around this location.

Everything here is neat and clean. attentive service staff, they often change the baking paper even though we don't ask for it. The restaurant has both grill and hot pot. They have the comfortable seats with convenient grill design. The hot pot doesn't have many options. Various grilled meats, vegetables served with grilled meat are good. The aisle at the food stall is quite narrow, just for one person. Meal times are limited to less than two hours, so everyone pays attention about that. It's crowded all time, so it's best to book a table in advance. Otherwise you have to wait a long time outside.

The most amazing dinner experience we have had. The service was incredible from the minute we walked through the door, even though it’s a buffet they check up you to see if you okay. The food was amazing, you get to cook your meat at your table and there is also ready made food. The sushi is also delicious. Highly recommend and definitely value for money.

Good evening 👍 i recommended must be reserve before. Because many people 😁

Good food options. Seem to cater to a maximum of 4 guests per table. We had 6 and was cramped into a corner. Constant movement to let people in and out. Won't take reservations; understandable, given it's popularity and tendency of people to be late, given traffic etc. Staff are very helpful and welcoming. Good atmosphere, though you're given 1.5 hours to eat and leave. Otherwise, good place to dine.

We had a very good experience here. The food, the options and the price were all very good. To have both Korean BBQ and hot soup in the same place means everyone is guaranteed to have a good meal. The staff are rushed off their feet but still helpful and polite. Will come back here again for sure. BOOKINGS ARE ESSENTIAL!

Sorry I took the whole plate coz I love shrimps. The stewed beef is actually really nice but it seems people can’t be bothered removing the bones on it. It’s $37 for dinner on a Sunday night, where else can you get it at a similar price in Auckland? It’s Korean BBQ buffet in new market, have to find a parking. But I would recommend this restaurant in general.

Max capacity is 75 small people. But we book 57 big people (including children). And the Manager by the name 'G' let us have the whole place through out the night. There's a variety of food to pick from, surprisingly all the choices is seasoned to perfection and taste really good. The atmosphere is intensely relaxing with a faded K-pop music playing in the background which really works in adding everything together. Most of our guest didn't have the chance to try the shabu shabu (similar to hotpot) which is really good on its own. The shabu shabu stock is amazing including the miso, luckily i get to give it a try. 5 star for the food and services, but other factors such as parking space needs to be consider for this kind of capacity. Other than having a good night buffet in a really comfortable environment. I recommend to bring in extra stomachs cause you will really need it.

I just love this restaurant their service is just awesome beautiful attitude from all their staff...planning to go again very soon...Juba Juba soup fresh from the pot I will recommend this place to anyone...our first time experience is just fabulous

Great food and service- had a group of 68 people for dinner on Sunday night and everyone was impressed by the variety of food and the quality of the food.

Great selection of food for shabu shabu and bbq. Had a delicious meal and wonderful time with family. Staff were quick on getting refills out too. I love the privacy of the booths, and the cozy atmosphere. Definitely need to come here with a very empty stomach to get the most bang for your buck :P

Food - 4/5
Ambience - 4/5
Service - 4/5

Came here on a Sunday night, was very busy and cramped from when we arrived at 5.30. Parking is tricky to find, had to drive further up to find suitable parking. Selection of foods was good, enjoyed the different types of meats, hot food was OK, sides were great and desserts were limited. All in all a good experience.
Amy
We had very bad dining experience and the marinated meat is too salty. Will not go to this place again.

Pricey for the range of food

The quality of food was excellent considering it was a buffet style of dining. The variety was a tad limited although all the food they had was good.
Service 9/10
Food 8/10
Quality 7/10
Would definitely go back

Been twice now, throughly enjoyed the food, good selection of meats to cook (marinated beef ribs are so yummy 😍), good selection of side dishes that taste great too such as the pork ribs, fried chicken, sushi and kelp salad. Definitely recommend and would go again. Only downside is the size of the restaurant, very small cramped space and always booked up so very little space to walk around other then that everything else is great.

This place is amazing awesome service yummy food, was a first time going to a place like this for me and my family we had so much fun cooking our meat ourself on the little bbqs and the hot pots, great food great service and a great night definitely will be going back again

Like a homey kitchen. I love coming here with the family. Plenty of options and a few dishes I eat repeatedly. Meats and noodles yum. Little crammed but all good

Service: 5/5
Environment: 3/5
Presentation: 4/5
Food quality: 4/5
Food quantity: 5/5
Price per person: $20-$30

Came here with 16 people for birthday, friendly service and they gave us corner spot away from the main crowds which is good but. The venue and the 3 tables were were seated on are really small though and you will find a hard time squeezing with other people to get your food on the buffet line. Great range of ready to eat food, their fried chicken, side salads and sushi are pretty good. They also provide array of uncooked meats for BBQ. Ingredients for hot pot are also available. So really eat until you drop. $33pp, no split bills, $3pp corkage fee and 3% charge for credit cards.

K-BBQ & Hot pot buffet. Best of both worlds. Great price imo. Great pre cooked food selection. Good K-BBQ meat selection but could do more for the hot pot. Staff are friendly with fast service. Space ost a bit tight.
Harsen Agon
The staff here was very nice and very helpful. There was a nice selection of different food. However, the selection of bbq meats was not the best. Also, we found that we are not fond of having both hotpot and kbbq options at the same time. We tried to have everything that we feel like we didn't get to make the most of everything. So we didn't think it was worth the cost. This place would probably be pretty good if you could eat a lot. The cooked food was average. The only food that was really really nice was the tempura, which is sad to say. The sushi was okay. The dessert was not regularly replenished. The cups for the tea/coffee did not look very clean. i would probably not be back unless I felt very very hungry. I would suggest it however to those who could eat A LOOOOOOT.
Dee
Love Tombo Buffet! The selections of hot food and cold dishes are pretty good, lots to choose from. The selections for Shabu Shabu & BBQ are pretty good too. The staff were pretty attentive and quick in repleneshing the buffet. There were no wait time on the food. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. They came and checked our table regulary to help us with bits and bobs. They made the whole experience nice and pleasant. Thank you.

Highly recommend!! Went here with my partner on a Tuesday night. To start, decor was beautiful, super clean and tidy everything, the room wasn’t smoky compared to other bbq places. It was really warm and cosy in this restaurant, and staff were super friendly and helpful to us.
Large variety of foods, constantly topped up, nothing ran out, despite being there toward the end of the night.
The food itself was fresh, the bbq meats were deliciously marinated and super soft! Lots of meat and flavours to choose from. The cooked selection was all tasty and flavourful - the sushi was a work of art and salmon sashimi was very fresh.
It was great they had unlimited ice cream for dessert as it isn’t so common, among those were some fresh sliced fruits, brownies and sweet crackers.
We really felt as though we got value for money here, with a great selection of fresh food, and amazing service, there wasn’t anything to disappoint.
Jeddahlyn Aguilar-Bermudez
The food was delicious i really enjoyed it. Friendly and helpful staff. They always refill the food stall and never gets empty. Definitely will be back

Food was great. Good choices of meat for the bbq. Cooked delicious food is available too as you wait for your bbq to be done. I loved their ribs stew and karaage chicken. Heaps of veggies/salads/sides and stuff for the hot pot. However, when we had a look at their ice cream choices for dessert. It was dissapointing. There was not much left ice cream in the tubs and to think it around 32$ per person. A bit pricey buffet for no good dessert. Sadly, it is located in an area where there’s not much free parking. Paid parking is available though.

One of the better Korean buffet restaurants in town.

Service - 5/5
Staff ensured all trays were regularly refilled and that the baking paper on our griller was replaced as appropriate. Manager was helpful and didn't mind doing dirty work.

Food - 4/5
Good variety; it was great to have both shabu shabu and grill in one Korean resto because normally you only get either one.
Everyone at my table loved the radish dishes, but their kimchi left a bitter taste. I loved their marinated beef as it was tender.

Ambience - 3/5
Crowded place and had very little space for movement. Carpark is also a hassle but couldn't blame Tombo for it.

Martin Geesas Gabion
Lovely service from the Lady who i would assume is the manager. Decent food selection. Meat quality wasnt the best but the variety is good.
Definitely try the pork bone soup.
Overall good experience mostly because of the lady who was very cheerful and helpful.
Jenny Da
Tombo is very good value for money at $32 per adult, all you can eat korean bbq, side dishes and shabu shabu. It’s so nice for winter with a good selection of meats and some cooked foods too!

It’s quite busy even on the weekdays so might need to book.
LilianMonaghan
Tried many Korean buffets in Auckland and this one was not bad though. The variety of the food was good from cold dishes like pickles and sushi to hot dishes like pork ribs, crispy chicken drumsticks. But the quality of bbq meat was not that good. Will come again but not my favourite one.
Van Arce
The rating is based on my husband's taste. He likes the marinated beef in Tombo, the sweet one. We got a lot of it. Many choices of cooked foods.
Overall, the food is awesome.

For the place, it's quite dark and small. Hope they can have a bigger space or maybe have a nice lighting.

To those who will eat with kids. We paid $13 for my 3y/o toddler, who only ate Udon 😂😂. Maybe they can allow younger kids to eat free as long as they where accompanied by 2 or 3 paying adults.

Best service in Auckland! Incredible food. Would highly recommend. Extremely helpful when teaching you about the barbecue, plus was tasty! Will definitely be going back.
Eduardo Gamboa
Was not advised that there was a time limit for the buffet when we booked. Was force to go out of the restaurant after an hour pf eating. Not recommended and definitely not going back. Nothing in their terms and conditions said about the time limit.
Tina-TINA8762V = Zgoldcode
So much variety! There's sushi, hotpot and kbbq. Theres a lot of cooked food too if you don't want to cook meat. Will definitely come back with the family since we always want kbbq or hot pot. Super friendly staff too!

One of the better korean buffets in Auckland if cooked food is what you are after. Loved the crispy wings and the sweet and sour fish! However their meats isn’t as good quality as some of the other buffets, and a needless comparison if you prefer the better quality ala carte bbq places. The bbq buffets in the shore has a lot better meats! We were also sorely disappointed with the shabu as it just tasted odd and we didn’t continue with it after a quick sample of it. Was it because we were expecting the traditional Japanese stock? Can’t say we will be back and willing to pay a premium for the place over the other bbq buffet places
Lynn Le
Good variety of cooked food, friendly service, good atmosphere.
They do try to keep everything as full as possible.
You can also have both Korean BBQ and hotpot/shabu shabu here which is bonus 😋. Their cooked ribs is a must try 🤤🤤🤤.
Price is more expensive than other Korean BBQ places and their dessert range is limited to a bit of fruit, ice cream and brownie. Other than that, definitely a good dinner buffet option.
Floyd Moratti
I dined here a bit after peak hours and didn’t have a great experience. There was little food remaining and what did remain was getting a bit old. Of course the restaurant would be closing in a couple of hours so there was little point in them preparing more food, but at the same time us customers are paying the same amount as everyone else. I recommend you get in early when trying this place.
Sydney Wan
I notice this place like two years ago and since then I come here at least once a month. They have got sushi, Korean side dishes, hot pot, Korean bbq and some cooked hot food. Very good value and foods are all very yum. Their stuffs are very nice too. Always recommend to friend this place.
Food?
Came here for a birthday dinner. Very compact and clean, probably not the best place when it's full as there isn't a lot of space. Not a huge selection of food but the quality is there for what they offer. A variety of Japanese/Korean foods and side dishes, also with an option for both shabu shabu (Japanese hotpot) and Korean BBQ. The best feature about this place is the built in electric stove in the table, the power and heat is controlled electronically and the meat plate/grill is very high quality does not produce smoke and does not need to be replaced every few minutes like some other places. It is a non-stick grill which you can just be easily wiped clean! Highly recommended if you're after a buffet restaurant with a homey atmosphere.

Staffs were friendly and quick. There were lots of food choices. We specifically enjoyed the hotpot, broth was really good. A bit pricey than usual korean buffet but maybe because of the hotpot. I just hoped that the marinated meats were tastier.

I had a great diner here. here, can have BBQ grill meat and hot pot together. Side dishes were good too. Kind staff. Quick refill up. It was Yummy

My absolute favourite buffet in all of Auckland!

I have been coming here for years and it is definitely worth your money.

Service: 9/10
The staff is very inviting and didn’t mind that we had to change our reservation twice.
They happily seated us and brought us anything we needed. They helped us change our grill and they were completely unbothered by our split payment.
They are a little slow at refilling because there is such a large variety of dishes, it can get hard to keep up with the speed of the diners.

Food: 9/10
The selection of food is unbelievable and definitely a great value.
The provide dishes ranging from hotpot to kbbq to sushi.
The sushi is very fresh as it is often being refilled. The sweet sour fish was tangy and crunchy, and the ribs were so tender.
I loved the udon noodles which you can make yourself.
The only downside is that for dessert there is only ice cream, cake and fruit, but the main dishes make up for this.

Ambiance: 9/10
There are beautiful wooden dividers providing individual seating areas for a more private experience.
There are big windows that allow the nightlife of Newmarket to shine through.
It is slightly dim inside with orange lighting to create a calming atmosphere.
There is kpop playing which makes the restaurant more modern and appealing.

Overall, Tombo is definitely great value as you get to try so many different things at the same time for a decent price. I will certainly be back soon for more.

Been here a few times, pretty good food selection. Hotpot and bbq at the same time and finish off with ice cream. Will be back when im feeling hungus!
Jxmanagementltd
Limited variety of food and vegetable. Just one Korean sauce. The attitude of the staff is not right. Not worth 32 for this buffet. Not recommend.

Don't let the price deter you from going to this place, the selection and quality of food is honesty so superb and delicious. It's like the food you see in animes and salivate from, only this is the real tangible form, and for once fantasy lives up to reality ;)

I’ve become a regular customer of Tombo. No exaggeration that it’s the best buffet I know in AKL. They offer amazing salads and meat dishes with BBQ and Japanese style hotpot. My favorite is sweet and sour fish, beef rib stew, sushi, kimchi, the crispy noodle salad (These are what’s on my mind right now but they have far more goodies than these!). Staff are very friendly and helpful. They know you and how often you visit! Please go have a try and I’m 100% sure that you will come back to like my review.

Excellent little korean bbq and Japanese shabushabu buffet in Newmarket.
The food quality is quite decent for the price.
Shabu shabu is very flavoursome albeit is has MSG in it. But msg isn’t as bad for you as the media says!
Surprisingly wide selection of food.
Come for a feast!
Beckynoh
Such a nice place to have dinner! Partner and I fully enjoyed the food! The staff and i’m assuming the owner were so lovely and welcoming. Always on top of everything and went beyond by cleaning our stove tops. We tried mostly everything and hot pot was a little disappointing but korean bbq and buffet fully made up for it. Will be coming back soon!!!
Gwen Tai
Enjoyed this place, food was yum
Downfall was parking and just the place itself it’s small and books out real fast, apart from that by far the best Korean bbq I’ve had 😊
Its Me
Close to city which could be handy to people who don't live on the shore. Very friendly and somehow their set up is way better than most of the other Korean buffet maybe cuz they seem to have way more booth seats avaliable? Seems to be way less smokey here too

We have been there so many times, the food is always yummy. They serve hot pot, barbecue, sushi, some cold appetizer and precooked hot dishes as well. It is really hard to pick a favorite, cause everything is so nice.

My second time back to Tombo, and again the customer service and selection of buffet was amazing. Nice cosy restaurant and easy carpark access. Definitely a place to take the family if you like Korean bbq or just pop into the restaurant and see for yourself.

I have been to tombo a few times now and thoroughly enjoyed each visit. I've only had the buffet, it's a good selection of tasty dishes and good value for money at $32 per person. Along with the sushi and cooked dishes you can also get meats and Veges to cook on your hotplate on your table which is awesome. The staff are very nice and attentive and check in during your meal to make sure everything is ok. So overall it's a great restaurant 👍👍
Brittney Misipeka-Kerr
The restaurant is very good. Quite small, but good for a few people. Food is very fresh. What I like the most is the duty manager is veeeeeery nice! She makes sure everyone is okay and enjoying the food. She also brings around meats and recommends dishes. I have now come here 3 times and will definitely be back soon. 😁
William Akulu
Excellent service they explained how everything worked and were very attentive.would most definitely go again awesome place.will try the hotpot next time
Kit
Quite limited variety and salmon sashimi was real tiny.

Shabu shabu was good and unlimited icecream saves the day.

Very friendly staff makes u forget the cramp space and limited choice of food for $32 bucks

Pretty clean though.

I had such a good meal with my friend last sunday that I am actually coming back tonight (3nights after) with my partner .. hotpot + korean bbq =
Wei
Tasty Japanese and Korean style buffet with a great selection of cold and hot dishes to choose from. I really enjoyed the seafood options and the beef stew and pork ribs were so tender and flavoursome. There's an option to grab and make your own hot pot which is awesome and the dessert options were yummy too. The chocolate cake and coffee cake was delicate and just the right amount of sweetness. A staff member brought us barbequed beef just off the grill which was a nice surprise and customer service here is excellent in general. Staff are attentive and very considerate. Hygiene is an A and the price can't be beat. Definitely will be going back and bringing my friends :)
Veronica Te
The staff kind of assume you’re there for the buffet (on the night I went anyways) so if you are not wanting buffet, they also have a menu with a great selection of foods.
Maria
Love you Tombo! Service is always friendly at this all you can eat Korean/Japanese restaurant (leaning heavily towards Korean). It's a great place to BYO some wine and sit and chat with friends. Buffets can be challenging for vegetarians, but at Tombo they always have several vegetarian sushi and side options, as well as salads and deep fried items. Occasionally they will have vegetarian stir fry or similar, but unfortunately haven't seen it too often. Still enough to keep you full, and lots of options in the dessert buffet too.
Kahlen Lau
Very disappointed about the food. especially he portion of salmon sashimi is smaller than a teaspoon. The service was great though. Wont be back again.
Ronda Tung
Went with my fiancé & friends. This is my second time back here, but it's the first time to try their buffet. Lovely atmosphere, friendly stuff, very clean place and enjoyed the variety of food!
Grace
Tombo is a great Asian buffet with lots of options if you love sushi. Relatively cheap for a buffet with a decent amount of choices from sushi, ngiri, udon noodle soup, your own hot pot and ice creams and cakes. Enjoyed my meal there and will definitely return! The downside is that it is a little cramped inside restaurant and loud.
Angie J
service here is amazing all the ladies really go out of there way to make you feel comfortable always cleaning up after everyone and also refilling food quickly foods nice and hot only thing is wish there were more raw meat and seafood variety available for hotpot and also should have free drinks like most buffets and Korean bbq places I've been too but no biggie also space wise its a little cramped but overall I had a really nice experience here I cant even explain how good the service was I would definitely recommend great place to have lunch/dinner with your friends or family service 10/10 food variety 7/10 hygiene 9/10 😊
Becks Fielding
This place was always a winner for a quick lunchtime stop... Having been here more than I'd say 10 times, I'd alternate between the spice dons take away. Never unimpressed by the food produced. Fresh, hot and always flavoursome. Highly recommend here for lunch of a cheap cheerful dinner with friends. Amazing service to boot.
Ayla San Miguel
I always see Tombo when I'm in Newmarket, finally tried it! Food was good, Korean Japanese fusion. Went there for dinner, a little pricey, but would still come back! Really enjoyed their food and lovely staff 😊
Barista Champ
Quite disappointing for Tombo. Took my friends last night and Tombo wasn't as great as it was before. However, customer service was still great and enjoyed nigiri options. The waitress served us grilled beef and it was delicious but only served it to us once with very little amount. (The grilled beef served was part of the buffet menu).
Lo9ve3r 4s
Not a great selection of Korean food. Eight Colours in Takapuna is better value imo. Major letdown was when we learnt that we couldn't get the meat for ourselves, the waiters came around and dealt out little portions of meat to each table and then you wait for ages until the next lot is cooked. Never went back again
Geraldine Rasela Pua-Ioane
Food was light, refreshing yet still flavoursome. Arrived on a busy evening so it was quite claustrophobic after while so the space isn't that great for bigger crowds but would definitely go again. Meals were worth it 😊👍🏼
Anji Banjo
Easy to book lovely staff, loads of different types of yummy food. Free coffee 👏

Semi private seating which I liked.

Things not so great the portion sizes of food put out although always well stocked are small so we didn't take as much as we wanted to being a buffet not so great. Provide instructions and maybe recipes on the wall so people don't just throw everything in the pot.

Also there was one of the wait staff who was a little abrupt/aggressive forcing my hand to put pot lid on the stand which was a little strange. A simple smile and show would have been sufficient.

Otherwise nice experience thanks.
Aquayla Is-Thaa Best
TOMBO IS JAPANESE. NOT KOREAN. SMH. Anyway... The staff are amazing and the food is even better. My favourite buffet restaurant by far. I would definitely recommend coming here. The salmon sushi would have to be the best I've ever had.
Kylie
food was great; there was a good variety of the popular korean and Japanese food, and food for the hot pot which was good. they would regularly top up the food which was also good because they would run out quite fast. the service there was also really good the people there were so friendly, would definitely go again. the only thing that was slightly annoying was the small space around the plated food because some people would take a while grabbing food from a plate and you would have to wait for them to finish rather than walking around them to the dish you want. either way, the food and service overtops this minor problem :D
Sunema Tuifao
Food was nice but not great, felt like there wasn't much variety when it came to the buffet. Was really hard to move around when waiting at the buffet area. Atmosphere was very friendly and family orientated. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
LilMiss Foodie
Such an average buffet.. disappointing really. I'm giving a 2.0 because of the smiles from the waiters. What has got me questioning were the great reviews about this place? However if you've tried other hotpots like me, it is guaranteed that you will be dissatisfied for $32/pp!

First of all, waiters gave the impression that they had the right of way - as they would push past and "EXCUSE ME!!!" out loud as we were trying to get food. This happened over five times to me. I can understand that it's busy due to the small buffet area, but the small amount of space really emphasised this!

Second, food was all average in taste, nothing wow. All tasted deep fried, nothing really "Korean" as claimed. For Japanese, they served sashimi and sushi as if a miniature human was gonna eat it! Too small? For the hotpot, there was only one meat option for the hotpot and it was displayed in a tiny bowl- we could literally grab that whole tiny bowl and it wouldn't fit 5 people in our table. The broth didn't taste great either.

Honestly, you can go to other better "hotpot" place where they offer a lot of meat for a much more cheaper price including drinks as well.

Thought this place would give us a great experience because it is more expensive than other comparative hot pots.. but sorry the taste of the food really just filled us up- rather than made us enjoy it =( 👎🏼

This place has been here for a while but I have just stumbled across it two weekends ago to host 19 people for dinner. I was looking for Asian cuisine and this place ticked off all the boxes. Food was really good and the service was terrific. Highly recomend to anyone looking to indulge in Korean/ Japanese food.
Patrick Tong
It has been 2 years since last time we were here. Very pleased to see that they have included Sabu Sabu as part of the buffet dinner. Food still very yummy. Wild variety of Japanese, Korean, and Chinese.

Service was prompt, friendly, and helpful. Always with a smile.

The only minor problem is car parking. When busy, in that street, can be quite hard to find a space to park.

We definitely will be back.

My girls and i had a dinner at tombo, the staff was accomodating they also assisted as to find a parking nearby, they are all approachable in our needs we took the buffet the food were overflowing, the shrimp and other seafood that they have, the fried chicken and the spareribs were mouth watering, they serve also some sweets just enough to neutralise the taste from the food we ate from the main meal, we will come back again here soon
Michelle
We had booked a table for 10 and they were more than happy to accommodate us (even let us take our own cake in). Staff were very nice and friendly. Great variety of our favourite korean/japanese food, and it was so yummy. Excellent value for money.
Marinel Mae Badilles
Definitely our favorite korean buffet! The staff are very friendly and helpful! They regularly top up the food. I love every single dish they serve but my favorite is the pork ribs and the bbq. The price is just right for the quality of the food. I wish they add more dessert😊

Had the best experience with Tombo buffet, from the very friendly hard working staff to the most amazing food. Had my brothers 21st birthday there the other day with about 50 guest that all enjoyed there service and especially the food. We wanted something different so this was perfect. Highly recommend and easy going Managing team who were really polite and helpful with our planning before the day, If you want a small private function this place is just right to cater for your event, Thank you again and I suggest to try them out it is worth your money.
Miura Elikana
I absolutely love this place! The customer service is top notch. There's a good variety here of both meat, vegetables and seafood options. If you're wanting hot pot they also have that option as well. I definitely recommend the chicken karaage. The best crispy chicken! The pork slices are delicious as well. I've been here a couple of times and the food and service has been consistent.
Issie
Very very VERY friendly service a Korean buffet place in new market. I wouldn't say this place serves authentic Korean dishes in their buffet. Its a random variety of marinated or fried meats and Chinese fusion dishes. Personally the atmosphere for this buffet was too mom and pap like for me; if you enjoy that kind of experience go for it. The price for pp does not exceed 30 dollars if i remember correctly. Overall the food is average, but try this place
Out if you are hungry and want a lot of variety in asian dishes. (They also have a hotpot corner)

Came here for dinner for a birthday. Gets really busy in the evening so I recommend you make a reservation and book an early time.
Tombo has a huge variety of sushi, cooked foods and a shabu shabu (hot pot) station. Food gets topped up quickly and the staff are very friendly.
The only negative is the dessert station which comprises of fresh fruit, wafers, donut balls, biscuits, 2 small cakes, tea and coffee.
$32 pp

Huge selection of foods from the buffet. It is a mixture of cooked and cook yourself using the mini hot pots at your table which is always fun. Overall very satisfied with the food. Would recommend going with an empty stomach.

This place is packed during lunch even on weekdays. Well, they only open for lunch on weekdays which is a real shame: their food is great and the waitera are really friendly.

One of the best buffet restaurants in Auckland I've been so far. All of the foods they serve are tasty and to crave for. They also offer set menu meals if you are not into buffet. The only downside of the restaurant is the difficulty of looking for a parking especially during peak hours as cars can only be parked along the busy street. However, the staff are quite helpful in assisting you with this. They guided me where to park my car. I love this restaurant. It is one of my favorites now.

Really nice Japanese place. Came for dinner during the week and had delicious Teriyaki salmon, rice, miso and salad. Very friendly staff and good fast service.

Wow this place is amazing..Buffet dinner for $30/adult definitely worth every cents! Super yummy food! We really enjoyed every single dish we had - from salads, noodles, fried chicken, shabu-shabu, sushi and oh sticky pork ribs? that sticky rib is to die for! finger licking good..😍 highlight of the night. their ribs is better than the other pub places I know. I love the sushi as well u can really tell that its made from fresh ingredients and oh did I mention dessert???well, they dont have many options for this but hey their tiramisu is one of the best I've ever had!

Look no further - This place is HIGHLY recommended but booking is a must!

Very good buffet. Worth the price since the quantity and quality of the food is exceptional. Pros:
Great selection of foods from the buffet (Pork ribs, fried chicken, spring rolls, dumplings, sushi etc.)
Tasty desserts
Good service with staff taking away plates when you're finished each time (similar to a hotel buffet)
All you can eat for $30
Sushi was fantastic

Cons:
Chairs were loud and screechy when getting up every now and then
Not much space around the buffet area (if restaurant is busy it is hard at times to get food)
Mikos
The dishes are solid and all the usual suspects are present. The shabu shabu was the highlight but a little dainty for a larger eater like myself. I did see larger pots so pot size could be issued based on number of diners? Enjoyed the deep fried chicken but pretty rare that this is not the case even at kfry.

Service was excellent. Unobtrusive which is ideal for a social recluse like myself but always there with a smile when needed.

Have eaten both a la carte lunch and buffet dinner here. I have to say a la carte lunch is definitely better. Good size portions tasty food and reasonable price. Buffet tonight was a bit of a disappointment. Not terrible. But very standard food. Nothing was really great. I definitely prefer the lunch.
Eugene
Probably one of the buffets with better quality food I've been to. First there was great, overwhelmed with abundance of sushi and salmon. One of their dessert items tasted really good too, can't remember it name. On my second visit there, I felt like I had tried everything and was bored of the food already. Pricing is OK ($30ish per person), I didn't pay so I didn't care, but if I were to pay then I'd probably not go there all the time :)
But I definitely recommend for those who havnt been!
I'm Hungry
Awesome food, very well priced menu, very good service and a lovely sit down restaurant. I ordered one of the big lunches and honestly it was too big for me to finish but I thoroughly enjoyed the good course by course. Staff was very lovely and I will definitely go back again.

It my first time at Tombo and they did not disappoint. The food was both decent and very yummy. Staff were hospitable. I would definitely come back! Good job!

Not had many Japanese meals in my life but this was bloody good. We shared 5 small tapas plates which were all delicious and a nice glass of wine each with desert and it was only $100. Service was on point. Would definitely go back. Very cool place
Frank Lin
The do the nice $30 buffet which I had last year with a group of friends.

The food was decent but not outstanding. The service was virtually non-existent as it was self-service.

You can get quite a lot of value but the fact that some dishes weren't replenished on time lets this place down a bit.
MissEstherZ
Wow take me here like once a week. Maybe once a month and I'll definitely marry you.

I love the sushi. Love the salmon. Actually don't want to write this review and it encourages you to go in case this place gets more popular.

I love buffets. I love Japanese food. Love Korean food!

I wish my stomach was bottomless. Life is hard! My favourite was definitely the salmon sushi. I'm going to have plan so carefully for my next visit. I got way too full so quickly. Looking forward to coming here forever hahaha

Have dined here almost half a dozen of times and every time we are served with a smile, super friendly waitress and a wonderful selection of Japanese/Korean buffet foods. Always fresh and clean, love how the waitress comes to our table and serves us beef ribs in such generous portions too. So tasty and the rotation of the buffet is constant so you know it's fresh. A tiny restaurant but one of the best for such a reasonable price. Only fault I would say is the desserts options as there bis very little and I have a sweet tooth but what they do have is yummy.i guess you just fill up on dinner first. You can also byo wine which is great. Thank you Tombo for always giving us a rememberable satisfying experience.😊

Stumbled across this hidden gem after missing my movie. We didn't have a booking but we were seated right away and there was no beating around the bush she told us to help ourselves to the buffet. Buffet? I came here for the beef ribs. You don't have to tell me twice. There was a variety of Korean and Japanese food and everything tasted amazing. My favourite was the bbq beef short ribs which were freshly made and probably the best in town. The lady brought it around to each table, she even gave me extra when I mentioned they were my favourite and encouraged me to try all the dishes. Overall we received such personal and friendly service. I'd recommend the dumplings, crispy octopus, and fresh tiramisu for dessert. Dishes were all fresh and regularly topped up. I'd definitely come here again!

Guys/Gals if yous can't decide whether to eat Jap or Korean tonight then why not check out this joint has the best both worlds, would you believe. One day walking by i stopped to study their menu at the front door and was enticed inside by the friendly hostess and glad i did ate lunch there and had a beef stir fry dish Japanese style (or was it Korean?), reasonably priced too for this, but the buffet is a bit more pricey at 30$ per head as it has alot of seafood there i guess..
Di
A good Korean restaurant in Newmarket!!! They offer heaps of lunch options, including Don, noodle soup and dish sets. My favourite is spicy pork Don and tempura prawn Udon.
Medium_Rare
So YUM! Can't stop raving about this place to my work colleagues after dining here for lunch. You get a very filling meal with some absolutely fantastic Korean-Japanese food.

The beef ribs are awesome! Their Don isn't too shabby either. The only let down was the chicken stir fry, far too much vegetables and very little noodles and chicken.

Showstopper : Beef ribs! Absolutely YUM

Overall Grade: B+, can't wait to try the buffet and only lost out on an A- because of the disappointing noodles.
Anna Fern
I've been to this restaurant twice only during lunch time. The quality of food is very good and the price is great! The staff are very friendly and helpful.
Serena
The staff was extremely helpful, they let us choose a set menu over the $30 buffet even though they generally don't allow it during the busy dinner time. Food was amazing and the vegetarian option was actually pretty good.
Sherry
I have been to several Korean restaurants and most are pretty good but not exceptional. This restaurant is simple the best. Best beef ribs I've ever had! The service is awesome too. The staff know how to be welcoming. Will be back soon.

Officially found one of our new fav Japanese places. Great food, reasonable prices, good service and nice ambiance.

Located on short street you'll be pleasantly surprised walking into this place. There is plenty of seating options for couples or small groups - most fenced off with wooden lattice for a bit of privacy. The decor is well done and is a comfortable and relaxed environment.

We ordered the Spicy teriyaki tofu + vege stir fry (#16 - served with rice, miso) and the Teriyaki tofu set lunch. Both were very well portioned and priced. We loved the assorted side dishes we got and all parts of our meals were delicious.

The service is very good! The young lady that served us during our lunch visit was helpful, polite and attentive and meals arrived at a timely manner.
Will definitely be back for lunch and to try out there buffet dinner. Keep up the great work!
Aleana Fernando
Went here for lunch and got one of the lunch specials which had katsu chicken as the main and different side dishes and was very generous with what they gave as shown in the picture.
The food didn't take long and the staff were very friendly. The food isn't too expensive.
Loved the food. The tempura was super good and also appreciated the sushi rolls that came along with it.
The only problem I had was with the sauce of the Katsu chicken, as I found it a bit too strong on flavour.
But overall I really loved it, I was very full at the end and was very satisfied.
Definitely would come back again.
Rubyn Park
The food is great and the service is also amazing! It's not often lacking in food, and the meat they serve to the table is super good too! Good food for a decent price :)

Such an amazing buffet restaurant omg. The food was so good, my friend and I ate so much we couldn't even move in the end. The service was really good and the manager was so nice ♡♡ Would definitely come back again 😊

Very good. Service was good . Food was great ! Great selection! Will definitely go back. The sushi was very nice and the cold noodles was delicious and the bbq meat was great. Good value for money !

Tombo is ONE OF THE BEST RESTAURANTS I have ever dined in to. The staff were great, and full house for dinner? I think that speaks on how great this restaurant is.

The food is SO YUMMY (Yes, I cannot contain how much I enjoyed my experience here). There were enough available variety of food. Let's be honest, you can only eat so much and as long as you find maybe 6 types of dishes you like, you're pretty much good for the night (well at least for me). The dessert was very lovely too ... Basically, I enjoyed having dinner here so I'm not gonna fault it much.

Now, it would be unfair of me to fault them for this because they have no control of it whatsoever. Since the place was packed when we got there, we have to squeeze ourselves in (7 of us) in a 4 seater table. The food (although they re-fill it up quickly) runs out as well too fast since there are too many people there .. So if you're not fast enough then you're not gonna be able to get the food you want unless you can wait and go back. Maybe it's time to upgrade to a bigger place if it's like this every night? ;)

Our friend paid for everything after and when we were just on our way out, one of the waitress might have thought that we didn't pay for our meal so she said "excuse me, have you paid??" (Non verbatim) it can be quite offending (maybe because we just had casual outfits on) but I guess they just wanted to make sure. After we got out, a waitress started running after us. Honestly, we thought "here we go again with them thinking we did an eat and run" but she gave us a loyalty card with 7 stamps on it and we just have to fill it up to get a free meal. Ngaw, it was a very sweet gesture for that restaurant to do so and really won me over. I will be sure to recommend this place to my friends and zomato-ers as well.

Love Food
we went for dinner, good envirment, food is okay nice and fresh, but not many choice. does not let me feel want to go back again.
Great atmosphere along with excellent service!
Tanz
Three of us went there around 8:30pm for dinner, they were almost ready to close but welcomed us warmly.

Initially not many food left in buffet area, their manager saw that and asked to cook to prepare some more food for us. They made some sashimi, hot meat and soup just for us, and refilled some dishes in buffet area.

The quality of food was very nice compared with most Korean food palace. The service was outstanding. Impressed by their professional attitude towards customers.

The lowlight was that the made common Korean dishes only and we can taste them everywhere. They should have their home specialised food to attract more people.
JD&SA
Our casual go to Resturant, basic decor but beautiful friendly staff and a good selection of fabulous tasty fresh food. The prices are so reasonable that it's easy to go and get a lovely relaxed tasty meal often. If you are not beyond being seen in a basic decor restaurant then you will be treated to good food and awesome smiling friendly service - JD&SA (we love our food!)
Rachelle
The staff was nice. and the food tastes nice but the range was very limited. Most importantly, it was not good value! Definitely not worth $30.00 per person! There are other korean bbq buffets which are less than that price and have a large selection. I would not go there again. It was very disapointing. We will definitely not go back there again.

Been to tombo a few times now they have a nice range of dishes in there Buffet a mix of Korean and Japanese dishes with the pumpkin soup the odd one out..but in a good way its a very nice starter .. but the standout is the bbq beef rib.. which is offered to each table as it comes off the grill from the kitchen the beef alone is worth the admission price..sure they have a limited dessert range fruit and cake.. but you wouldn't want too much more after getting though there range of dishes

I don't usually write reviews on restaurants (had in the past as a food journalist many years ago) but this is definitely a worthwhile exception. I've been to several Korean restaurants and most are good but not exceptional. Tombo really blew them away in terms of offering both quantity and the rare other component - QUALITY. All of the food was exceptional (I'm not talking about the desserts, which were limited and of fair quality, but then I'm not a dessert person anyway), from the offerings (variety) to the flavours and portions. Fried squid, BBQ beef ribs, cold soba noodles, chicken karage (almost grease-less crispy fried nibbles), the rice cake in sweet spicy sauce, braised pork ribs, fish katsu and quite a few more were delicious. They even had fresh salmon, albeit in tiny portions. And of all things, the sushi was surprisingly superb. "Of all things"? Well, I am not a sushi fan mainly because I usually find they are more rice cakes than actual sushi, meaning there's more rice than filling/topping, so I think they are rip-offs in most places (unless you go to a [often expensive] Japanese place, which I don't). In Tombo, they make sushi you WANT to eat. Small (i.e. less rice) with a good balance of seaweed, rice and filling/topping. These made me try them and going back for more - an extremely rare occurrence, I assure you!The BBQ beef ribs were also exceptional and best I've had so far in terms of flavour, with a perfect blend of sweetness, savouriness and smokiness. Just remember to ask for re-fills, as they won't keep bringing it back if you don't ask (which they will do so happily). Even the unusual dishes such as the fish roe/tofu soup was surprisingly tasty. The little optional hot pot is a nice touch, allowing you to wash down and fill in those last little pockets of empty space in your stomach after you've gone a few rounds. Complimentary coffee and tea to wash it all down with, not to mention the service was excellent with friendly staff and efficient service, all added a nice bow on top of the dining experience. While I usually hesitate to spend $30 per person on a meal, I must say that Tombo was well and truly worth it. My only regret was that I ran out of space in my stomach after the 7th round (or was it eighth)!

My husband and I came here without any expectations and we were actually amazed as to how good this korean-japanese fusion restaurant. The service is superb. For $30 we tasted different seafoods like crabs, mussels, squid, etc. The pork ribs was so tasty. There was a variation of sushi. And to have a shabo-shabo is a plus as well. The refilling did take time but it made up for the tasty dishes served. Minimal dessert but loved it as well. Did I mention there was coffee as well?! :) John Niño Sia

Me and my partner was amazed by how great the staff hospitality is! They are very friendly and welcoming! They explain the menu and help us to decide the dish. We ended up ordered 2 lunch boxes, one is chicken cutlet and another one is beef ribs. The food was really good! They told me that during dinner time the restaurant will open for buffet as well! Recommended for people who's looking for a good place to eat around newmarket!!😊😊👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Finally made it last night to this awesome place. Tombo is a busy fusion Korean Japanese buffet that is nestled away in Newmarket down Short St close to where the old Mandalay used to be.
The wait staff are so friendly and attentive.
All the food was delicious esp loved the range of sushi. Kumara noodles, short spare ribs, sticky pork ribs, octopus and spicy seafood the list goes on and on. A must try for anyone with a love of Asian food.
Definitely returning again.

This is a lovely Korean buffet! The minute we were seated the staff brought us a hot pot station and some bbq ribs. I love their sushi selection and huge amount of seafood and veges. Also, the pumpkin soup is a must try,as well as the creamy chicken&vege soup, were both really tasty. As for the dessert,it was just small pieces of tiramisu, kiwifruit and stuff like that, nothing stand out,but other dishes did make up for it. Overall, reasonable price(30per person)and chill out atmosphere.

Nice and clean restaurant, serving Korean cuisines. Food are delicious and variety is good too. Will definitely go back again, keep it up !

Tombo is one of my favorite Korean Buffets!, they offer such a wide variety of Korean and Japanese foods ranging from salmon sashimi to korean bbq meat.

The food is always delicious and fresh and the staff are always very friendly. They always greet you with a friendly smile and ask whether your enjoying your food. The atmosphere is really nice and the food is great, I really enjoy watching the kpop videos that play in the background :)

Definitely going to visit again soon!

I had lunch here today and was very happy with the experience. The staff were lovely and the food was great. I ordered the spicy teriyaki which came out on a hot plate with a side of rice, miso, salad and little condiments. This was great value for $12.50 and the sauce was to die for! My friend had the beef stew which was also delicious and nice and tender. Will definitely be going back

We went here last Saturday for dinner. It was a last-minute decision and we were fortunate enough to get a table (booking ahead would be a wise move!). The food was very good (as far as buffet standards go). Our favorite was the Beef Short Rib Stew. However, I'm not giving this place a 5 because they quckly ran out of rice and kimchi. It would also be nice if more of the desserts were served at a time--we had to queue as soon as the little plates were out because the goodies disappear fast. Really great food with very good service!
Nzjwilson
Been here twice and both times have been so good.. Service and staff are lovely. Food is delicious. All you can eat sushi. Love this place. highly recommend but advise to book first :)

Probably one of the best Korean Buffet I've ever had. Always a little put off by the smoke and grease of the BBQ but Tombo is different. They offer option for a la carte or buffet., menu is clearly explained before I walked in and the service was superb. Delicious food on the buffet with tiny portions which allows you to try a bit of everything. Will definitely recommend.
Tiffany Sua
Tried the buffet here and it was so good!

Quite a good variety to choose from and not to mention they make BBQ beef ribs on the grill and have staff come around to you asking if you want any. They were delicious!

Most of the food was well presented and everything i tried was very nice :)

Would recommend and would come back here. (I'd like to try their set menu)
Christina
I like to come here for their set menu lunch specials, especially the teriyaki chicken one which comes with the rice, 3 sides, a small salad and of course a portion of the chicken.

Service wise, the lady at the front is very friendly and welcoming, and also prompt to serve. Cooking time can be a bit of a let down though particularly when they're also serving other dine-in customers.

All in all, good service, and above average food and price is about what you'd expect to pay in this area.
FOODFANATICJIMMY
One of the few good Korean buffets in Auckland. Finally! A korean restaurant with great customer service! The minute you walk into that door, you're greeted with a great big welcome. They will seat you the best possible seats as soon as possible. They even kindly showed us great parking spots, as parking can be such a hassle in this area. The atmosphere is great and is a very neat layout. The food is great for a buffet. The only let down I must add is the refills. An issue that many buffet places face but can be quite unpleasant for the diners. Actually felt like a bit of salmon that day and I heard they had salmon so was looking forward to it. I know I shouldve bought a fresh fish and prepared sashimi myself at home but I really needed a break. I had about 3 servings and gave up because there simply wasnt enough. I did leave hungry for more sashimi but other dishes did make up for it. Interesting to see that bbq meat was distributed out individually. Loved the texture and seasoning on the bbq but was inconvenient to have to ask for more personally each time. I do recommend this place though!!! Do give this place a go!
Norman Crawshaw
A huge range of Asian foods to choose from. No-one should ever leave here hungry. What's even better is that the buffet style means you can choose what you like and leave the rest.

Some of the dishes are well known, other quite exotic (at least to European taste) but all are well cooked and well presented. The hot dishes are freshened up frequently and the salads and pickles have a great range.

Service is great. The staff welcome you like old friends and nothing is too much trouble.

With an "all you can eat" price less than the price of a main at many nearby restaurants, what more could you want ? Do yourself a favour and eat there
Chin And Prony Powichitkul
What a lovely place for buffet! We have been here since they first opened and are very happy to see how the amount of their customers base have grown.
Service is always superb and attentive, the manager always make sure you are having a good experience.
The food is just amazing, so flavoursome and never boring. It is always fresh as they seem to make them in small amounts to refill.
Not a lot of drinks option but this is normal for buffets.
Their signature beef ribs are just amazing, I hope they do buffet bbq in the future just for the ribs!
The dessert range is always limited to 2-3options but what they have on is always so delicious! My fave is the green tea gateau cake which is like fluffy heaven on your tongue!
The toilet needs a bit of a renovation though as male and female toilets seems to share the sink and tap. Maybe more work on cleaning the toilet and making sure there are tissues! Seems to always be none in there but I'll forgive you since you guys are always so busy outside.
Keep up the amazing work, it is good to see your business grow so well!

This is one of the best buffets in Auckland. The staff are extremely welcoming and friendly. Delicious food and always have plenty. Will definitely be going back again and again.

Good selection of Japanese and Korean food.

Great atmosphere along with excellent service!

This place I would highly recommend to anyone who loves Asian food (Korean and Japanese).

I'm rally a meat lover. I recommend the ribs !!!There is a more what I want to say. Their sevice is awesome. The manager ( a beautiful lady ) is so kind. I'm a fan of her. ( When I left a restaurant, I hugged her. hahaha)People who work in food industry should learn by watching her. I also work at a reaturant so I need to learn from her.I strongly recommend Tombo. I'll come back and try a lunch menu next time.

Nice, fresh food. Very tasty and set out quite well. Went for a buffet dinner on Friday night. 5.30pm booking and it was nice and quiet. Placed filled up soon after. Very nice staff and the manager was super courteous! Very nice and spacious set up - like the fact they have dividers between some tables, giving a sense of privacy. Best bbq ribs - amazing flavour! Highly recommend to Asian fusion flavour lovers!
Tess
Dinner with 3 other families. Great buffet selection, love the bbq beef ribs but have to wait to be served on your table. My husband who is difficult to please when eating out loves it. Definitely coming back. Reasonable price, clean place and good space (not to crowded table setting). Good service but had a good laugh with our friend who just put the last mouthful of food in his mouth and his plate already taken away.

I ordered 27 packs from the lunch menu for my office staff. All 27 were happy with their meals. they were presented well and full of flavour.

Awesome food and the best service!Went there for dinner on Friday night, as I walked in I was greeted by the front desk lady who was very friendly!! Ribs were cooked to perfection, salmon and Prawns tasted so fresh! I love this place and I totally recommend this place to anyone! The service was the best compare to any other restaurant I have been to.

Definitely going back soon!

Great food. We had the set combos. Absolutely beautiful, tasty, well flavored dishes. Excellent service as well.
Big portions for a fair price. Super fresh and nicely presented.
Coming back soon.
This place I would highly recommend to anyone who loves Asian food (Korean and Japanese).

I have been to Tombo Buffet for four times. Three times for lunch and once for dinner. It is certainly one of my favourite restaurants.

The food is simply scrumptious. There are three lunch sets of different proportions, ranging from $11.50-$15.00, with a choice of your favourite main. Everyone can choose different lunch set depending on how much they eat. The dinner buffet costs $29 and provides fresh seafood from sashimi to mussel. The Asian cuisines are various and delicious. The head chef with over 30 years of experience does not let his customers down.

The personnel and the environment are also great. The staffs are friendly. The manager always makes me feel welcomed and makes sure everything is fine. Being one of the finest managers I have ever seen, it is hard to believe the manger has only been working for 6 years. The environment is clean and tidy. The clever use of trellis fences provides privacy without isolation.

In summary, great food, reasonable price, friendly staff, comfortable environment. This new restaurant has only been around for 6 months, but I expect to see it go much further in the years to come. It is one of my happy places to go to in New Market. I recommend Tombo Buffet wholeheartedly.

Tombo, one of Auckland great buffet house, love it love it and love it : )
I miss the crispy fried pork /chicken chops, it was served when we first time came here for dinner, now been replaced by crispy fish chops.Hopefully Tombo can bring back some of the old delicious dishes so that our tummy will fill with loads of love from this restaurant.

Tombo, maintain the standards and keep fighting.

Thank you to the chefs, kitchen hands, manager and waitress for making us the customers feel loved every time we walk in here.
Audric Kam
The workers actually seemed genuinely friendly and happy; persistently checking up on us and making great efforts to ensure that the foods we desired were present.

The food was also very tasty and was considerably great ranged. For a buffet, it was also relatively cheap.

Nothing more can be said, you guys are going to have to try it for yourselves!!
Sena
Good food great service. Went here after booking on my birthday - pleasantly surprised as they gave a free bottle of wine as it was the date of my birthday and there were more than 4 ppl.One of my friend took their card as well so guess he liked it a lot as well. Will be happy to come again :)

Just be careful on parking as the Chinese restaurant next door has their car park look like a public car park, has a tiny, non-noticable sign in Chinese saying they'll tow the car (with all haste to do so - two ppl had their car towed within an hour)

It was our first time for my sister and I to dine in a Japanese restaurant. The design was very welcoming and the service was extremely friendly. We were both nervous about what food we will be ordering tonight, especially the prices that will be in the Menu (we haven't seen the Menu). However, when we walked in, the waitress greeted us and introduced their combo of korean and Japanese baffet! It was DELICIOUS!
Kat Treybig
Just had an amazing dinner at tombo and was very impressed with not only the variety of cold and hot dishes, soups and sides (and lots of sushi), but the lovely hostess was very friendly and the servers were informative about any dishes we had questions about. She brought us out a large helping of korean bbq beef ribs, hot off the grill, my favorite, without us needing to ask. Everything was fresh right down the crispy tempura veggies and fresh spring rolls. The presentation was lovely and clean, no metal serving platters with heat lamps here. I'm incredibly full and very happy we took the time to drive out to newmarket on this rainy weekend, I'd love to go there again for a special occasion or another rainy evening :)
Shannon
We went there for $29 dinner buffet. I was already impressed by the waitress(maybe she was the manager) before I even had the food. You know finding a car park in Newmarket is hard, but actually the waitress helped us to find a car park! I couldn't believe it! (unless she was the manager, ok not even a manager would do that to be honest) Hey, thank you if you read this :)

Now for the food, yep, the food was excellent too! Great combination of Japanese and Korean food so you have more variety to choose. My friend especially liked Korean food section. He loved Bossam with cucumber Kim-chi and BBQ~ I liked the sushi selection and spicy squid salad in Korean food section. Love it! I haven't tried lunch 'donburi', will def try~

Overall, attentive and well mannered staffs and good food!

Food was amazing. Very delicious. Fresh, crisp and Sashimi was not soggy at all.

Most of all when the closing time was near, food was no longer re-filled then staff was asking each table for customer's specific menu. If you want Salmon Sashimi for certain amount, they will bring it to your table.

Very good service and quality.

I work right upstairs, so Tombo is very convenient. The donburi is great! There's lots of meat selections to choose from and a great selection of veggies. Nice to have an inexpensive, healthy lunch option when there's so many other fattening ones around.

Also, the service is fantastic! One of the best places for service that I've been. The waitress is attentive without hanging all over you and she's always bright, cheerful and has a smile. Well done guys! Now I have to try the dinner!

Had an absolutely delicious lunch here today. $11.50 for what they called 'donburi'. There was easy guidance on how to assemble my lunch: I got to choose two mains (I chose fish katsu and teriyaki tofu), and then I had the freedom to select as many salad ingredients as I wanted from the buffet-style bowls, then sauces.

The waitress was very helpful, and recommended the teriyaki sauce and wasabi sauce combination (the wasabi sauce was really mild and delicious with loads of teriyaki sauce).

Tofu was perfectly cooked, fish was very nicely cooked.

It was pretty awesome to eat such healthy and delicious food for lunch - a huge bowl of fresh veges - easily counted as 3 out of my "5+ veges a day", and with the sauces it was fabulous.

Will definitely come again next time I'm passing through Newmarket.

Good selection of Japanese and Korean specialties in a child friendly restaurant. Great atmosphere with excellent service! Certainly plan on returning.

Really great buffet dinner!

Wide variety of Korean dishes, sushi and soups. There's even fruit, coffee and dessert! Nice environment too, and the service is top notch compared to other buffet places!

Can get pretty busy so would recommend booking. You can dine with 20% discount on your birthday! (Dunno why discounts are a tradition for birthdays)
