Review Hanna Korean Bbq - Auckland Central

We walked in - would recommend booking for big groups. Good Food Great Service Atmosphere is Okay. Find Parking on one of the off streets. It's Korean What's Not To Like Especially Food. Definitely Great For Any Family Catch Up.

My first time here and it is my new fave Korean bbq. The staff are very nice and the restaurant was clean. There was a lot of options at the buffet and you definitely get the value for $35.

Best Korean BBQ in Auckland !! Best meat selection, best variety of sides. Only thing is the place it’s a little tight when packed so it gets hot in there but other than that food is great!! Highly recommended.
Laisa Sisifa
Awsome place. My wife and I dine here often because food is fresh, dishes are simple yet tasty, great service and its ALL YOU CAN EAT!!
Tyrone Penning
First time here and it was such a good experience! There is some cooked and some raw, so you can eat while you cook which is fun. The guys that run the place are really cool as you can see!
浩哥-奥克兰
TypicL Korean bbq price increased from $30 to $35, and gas was replaced by infrared which was a bit slower for a start. Limited choices and it has been reflected in the price
Jodi Sherwood
Not a bad place for ‘All you can eat’ Korean BBQ Only thing that I thought the place needed is more variety for desserts as they hardly had any on the night we visited. Not sure if they even have a dessert bar
Dylan DB
Lovely family service with amazing food and at a good price, as long as you head in with an empty stomach and when it's not busy it's magic
Arlene Barraca
For a buffet of $35.00 good enough 👍 please visit this Korean bbq in Dominion Road.

I always love coming here. The people, the atmosphere and the food are all top tier!!

Great family vibes. Food is delicious and enough varieties to keep you satisfied. Thanks for the experience guys!

Have always loved this place when the owners parents ran the Manukau branch! Now we are regulars here , love the meat range and Veges! Faves is the rice punch, seaweed soup and cucumber kimchi!
Dornell Ikaposi
Solid place. Never disappoints, if you haven't eaten here. Then your probably missing out, to be honest.
Ngoc Ha Tran
The value for money is average. We could find better place for slightly cheaper. Meat variety is above average but the fish is too big and not a fillet so pretty hard to bbq. You will be disappointed by the dessert. Only diced apple and supermarket cake. Might come back here again if close by only.

I was so excited to try this place out but I have pin pointed why I was unsatisfied to say the least

- lack of condiments. I mean who doesn’t have chilli oil or any sauces to dip with except for sweet chilli and mayo??

- weird customer service. When eating here it says “buffet” but the workers are staring at your every move to see if you’re taking too much food which defeats the all you can eat.
- lack of professional workers- customer service was pretty terrible no Hi or really any help with me being my first time at this store or Korean bbq

- AND LASTLY where was the variety???? For dessert there was cut up apples and it tasted old and the water tasted like toilet water. And also there were only cold sides I wasn’t pleased at all
Customer Service is 10/10 as always, Sitting area is nice and spacious. plenty of room for everyone. food is good. Not much of a selection but least it does justice when you're super hungry. Highly recommend. Will return every now and then
LuNa The TuNa
Nice bbq buffet with many choices. Foods ingredients are fresh, environmentclean and hygiene. Service polite amd friendly. Ite good while you hungry.

Not as good as expected. I was charged NZD 60 dollar for 2 people without any drinks. Variety of Food was not there. Mostly frozen meat. No sweet dish as compared to other restaurant. Cold Drinks will be charged extra. Not recommended as per Price and Variety. Seating quality and customer service good.
Vina
Nothing is fresh, everything is frozen or has been defrosted. The sides were abit of a let down, was hoping for korean sides but most were just chips & deep fried foods. My partner and i couldnt finish our food. There were signs saying to not waste food or they were charge extra. Once we got there manager was putting us in a awkward position basically "growling" us for not finishing our food. & we had to pay $20 per plate!!! RIP OFF. so what was supposed to be $50 ended up being $96. The owner said since it was our first time he'll give $5 discount zz felt like we were constantly being watched. Every time we got up to get food the owner or workers would be watching like a hawk. Very uncomfortable. No aircon aswell so when the place is full its quite stuffy and hot. Food was average. Wont be coming back here

OMG!!!!!!Such a yummy place and so worth the money, definitely coming back. Service was great, restaurant was clean, food was fabulous.
Highly recommend to everyone

I’ve tried other Korean buffet restaurants, but I always keep coming back here. I just love their meats especially their Pork Belly and Beef Brisket. Compared to other buffet, this one is very affordable
Shelley Bedggood
Staff were friendly, they had a wide range of meats which included prawns. The side dishes were cold which was a bit hard to enjoy, mind you we just ended up cooking them again on the hot plate anyway. Large venue and does get quite busy would recommend going early.

Friendly staff! Good selection. It is just far from our place, but will definitely go back for more with friends and families! They also gave us free drink which is sweet. Thanks again for the superb service!

I have passed this BBQ restaurant many times. Finally we have a chance to try it. My partner and I especially love Korean style beef short ribs. To our disappointment, the beef short ribs wasn't fresh at all. Luckily other meat was ok. The cooked food was cold.
Kai Mai
Very reasonable price for a good meal. A lot of variety with food. Good for a night out. Will visit again in future. Staff are very friendly and helpful.
Sandi Tsai
I love it here. We always come here to satisfy our cravings. Their rice punch is great and there is a decent amount of cooked foods too if you don’t want to cook.

My S.O. and I went to try this Korean bbq restaurant. We usually go to takapuna but wanted to try something new. Boy did we regret coming here.

We got here a little after 5pm, so there are not of people eating. However, the owner/manager (I assume) is just looming over the food already and has been the whole night. whenever anyone would go grab some food, he would swoop in to fix the placement of the tongs or check the tidiness of the set up, as if the customers messed it up really badly, when in fact it wasn’t messed up at all. We just felt watched at all times. I should have listened to the other reviews about the atmosphere of this place... it wasn’t a comfortable experience overall.

There are a variety of raw and cooked food. But cooked food is so cold, I see them bringing the hots out from the kitchen but somehow it’s cold. The most raw meats could be better as well... I haven’t seen beef ribs so fat in my life, and the shrimp are not even fresh...

So disappointed
Miaruby071
This is the worst booked I ever had!!! I was regular cust but u ruined everything!!!!! Obviously unprofessional manager worst ever!!!! If your cust booked a table and u asked their ph number and they gave it to u, thats mean they 100% serious. If they wanna cancel they will ring u!!!!! or at least wait a bit.. They might jumped at traffic (it doesn’t mean u can just give the table for others)!!! U have such a poor customer service !!!!!! Not recommended at all!!!! 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻
Mani
Great, kind of authentic, fun Korean BBQ. Good meat options but limited range of banchan accompaniments which make Korean food come alive. Overall fresh ingredients and convivial atmosphere.
I say “kind of authentic” because in amongst all the great Korean dishes there were some oddities like coleslaw, macaroni, potato salad and French fries...!? But we’ll be back for sure.
Diane
Food was poor the restaurant has no ventilation it’s like your in an oven while trying to enjoy your meal. Came here once will not ever go back. They took ages to replenish the food that had run out
Miura Elikana
This place is pretty good value for money, nothing fancy but variety of meats and side dishes. The staff are so friendly and hospitable. The BBQs are clean and heat up quickly. The place was crowded so definitely a popular local. The fish was fresh as well👌🏾

Rang to book just in case super busy but it was ok. They reserved us a table which was super sweet. Good customer service, food was good. Only gave a rating of 4 as it was our 1st time to this Hanna in Mt Roskill and we did not know where the water was until the end when we saw someone go up to get water. Other than that a good affordable night out with my sisters and husband. Will definitely come back. Thank you.
Lori Joyce
I really enjoy this place. The food is fresh, the hospitality is really inviting and $25pp is a great price!! I will continue to come here every time I get some meat craving.

Tiny downside, it gets packed some nights so booking ahead is wise. Being busy it tends to get hot!!!
Patty
Really good selection and an entertaining way to eat. Basic interior but worth $25. Nice way to dine if you want something different 5o do with the kids.
Emma Tippins Fanueli
A good space to cook and eat dinner with family and friends. Service was good and the staff were very accommodating for the children. Checking to see if they are okay and also sharing some treats. The cooked food selection was decent and cooking stations are very clean. Only tip I can give will be to have some fans as it does get too hot once all tables are in full swing and it's a full house. However I will go again!
Roman
It's a decent place, second time going to a Korean Bbq, hot plates were quite smaller then I was expecting. But a good place to hang out and have a chat with mates. Check it out if you have never tried Korean style bbq.
Flory Park
They make your experience quite awkward by staring at you while you eat and the two wait staff spent a lot of time flirting - not the nicest thing to experience whilst you’re eating!
Ronnie Stowers
Just had dinner here and for my first time and my party of 5, we actually enjoyed it! Big meat eaters my Samoan family so the unlimited supply of meat was perfect! 😂 I think it was worth $25 pp and a great end to my birthday (yes, we ate here for my birthday lol) also we are big K-Pop fans so the experience and the familiar songs in the background made it all the more fun. 짱이다 👍😄

■All you can eat
■varieties

Most of all you can eat Korean BBQ is in CBD but this one is not.
I would give more rates if it is easy to park cars.

Nice food enjoyed this place very much. Besides being first timers and not knowing how everything works or where anything was except just being showed to our table i managed to find a staff member that spoke English and was able to easily explain as i had asked another staff but she could not understand english very well but besides the language barrier staff are very friendly.A little bit over crowded as every seat was taken when we visited and tables feeling like they were too close together as we were a group of 4 in the middle of 2 separate groups of 4 on each side's. Overall enjoyable experience and left feeling nice and full

Had a reservation and we were running late by ten minutes but they still saved our table for us which we appreciated a lot my main issue when going to all you can eat BBQ or hot pots is the sauces are usually not labeled but they were here which I was great full for food was exceptional services was great even tho it was busy I would recommend to all to at least true it all in all 9/10 only thing I'd change is my reservation time as I booked for 8pm next time I'd like to go earlier thanks a lot loved it

midnight diner深夜食堂, recently this drama is very popular, everyone has their own story, they get together in a midnight restaurant to share with others. what food they ate not important but the place they can relief themselves.

I finally popped my Korean BBQ cherry this weekend by coming to Hanna. This is one of the few Korean BBQ places in Auckland, so I was quite excited to try it out.

We arrived shortly after Hanna opened at 5pm, and were taken to a table right away. I felt pretty silly because I wasn't sure if I could go up straight away or wait for the waitress, I had to ask, and was simply pointed towards the trays of food.

I loaded my plate up with beef, lamb, and a bit of chicken. All the meats tasted great, despite being cooked by myself. I wasn't a fan of the salads, so next time I'll be a pure carnivore.

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here and I hope to come back with a larger group in the near future.
Joseph Taleni
Went for dinner here with friends last night.
The meat was pretty decent although one of my friends said that one of the pieces was a bit of.
I personally liked this place but that biggest disappointment for me was in the sides. Yes they had chips and the general deep fried sides, but what was lacking is the actualy korean sides. The worst of them was the kimchi which was far from fermented.
Glass noodle was ok, and the potato salad. Considered the location being only 2minutes away from me though $25 isn't a bad price for this place.
Compared to the korean BBQ places in the shore, I would say this place still has the potential to go further.
Fai Seumanutafa
Great place really enjoyed our meal. Service was great and place clean. Affordable price for all you can eat i would definitely go there again.
Angie J
first time going to this restaurant meats are average , sauces aren't labelled , cooked foods is below average I couldnt finish my plate drinks weren't free which is a let down because most korean bbq restaurants have free drinks plus there was a sign right beside our table stating that you MUST finish everything on your plate if foods wasted you will be charged extra which is wierd because korean bbq buffet is all you can eat ??? and to top that off theres a window right infront of where the food is so with someone sitting there just watching this made the whole dining experience very awkward for me and my husband we felt like they kept watching us the whole time was horrible to cut things short we basically just ate bbq'd onions mushrooms and a lil shaved beef also the music was slow quiet and boring so couldnt talk amongst ourselves like other korean bbq restaurants my opinion music should be loud and entertaining not boring, i wouldve given this a 1 star rating but since the young guy working there was the only one trying to make us feel welcome i gave it 2 stars so tbh i wouldn't recommend hope this helps
Enrique Miguel
A good social food experience. There is a wide selection of different cuts of meat for you to cook on your own grill with many prepared sides to go along with your meal. We have always had fun dining here and is a favorite within our group.
Josh
They reduced food quality. Plates and forks are dirty. Doesn't deserve for $25.
Went there again with my friends on sat.staffs were really friendly and well trained.parking also available at rear.would be nicer if more cold dishes could be added to the buffet such as seaweed(not the one provided now)
I_like_pickles
Close Korean BBQ without having to head all the way into the city.

Parking on side streets. BBQ meats are the same as other BBQ places. There cooked food selection is a bit of a let down. Not many options and the seasoning and flavours are very subpar to other Korean BBQ places.

Reasonable for the pricing.
Lia Yosaatmadja
Hanna used to be my go to place for korean bbq. But unfortunately their quality of cooked food had gone down hill. They still have the same selection of raw meats, cooked food and side dishes... but most of the cooked foods were quite bland and were not as nice as before... i was wondering if they have a different chef now?

The raw meat section was still pretty good. And I thought their kimchi tonight was so good! Otherwise everything was quite average.
Tomo
Very much standard. Nothing impressed. If you feel like just eating meat and you do not want to drive too far away then this may be the place to go but I will not come back here. I would rather driving another 10mins to go other Korean BBQ.
Maggie Ryder
The food here is very nice the experience of cooking yr own meat at th table was enjoyed by all. Nice range of meats and yummy prawns to bbq. Side dishes were quite nice too. Could do with more deserts tho the crispy apples would go nice with something else. $25 for a yummy experience was well worth it we enjoyed th funky vibe and music.
Michelle Hwang
If you like Korean BBQ but live far away from North Shore, Hanna is a better place to enjoy Korean food. They offer almost all of common items in other Korean BBQ restaurant. I really like their BBQ fish, fresh and good texture.
Mandy Duong
My favourite was the marinated beef, there is a good selection of meat. Side dishes were alright have some disappointed one and some I enjoy. There is a selection of cooked food which we needed at the start, since the bbq was too small for 3. Not sure where this friendly staff everyone been commenting about is... Instead I see a lazy staff that always stood there to observe. I had to gesture him a few times to change the hot plate (since he's too busy watching the fridge), never took any dirty plates away.
Pablo Andres Retamales Carreno
I've read so many positive reviews about this restaurant so I've decided to try it out. What a disappointment! The only highlight was the meat selection. BBQ meats were quite tasty. We had to make our own sauces to dig the meats in. I found the sauces provided really bland. There were many side dishes bit I've tasted better ones. Not much dessert options. Throughout the whole dining time, there's always someone watching over you, it didn't make the experience very pleasant. I felt like being observed and watched if i was wasting my food. Won't go back again. Prefer to pay a higher price for a better dining experience.

Was lucky to get a seat so quickly on a Saturday night with no booking (only a 15 minute wait.) Would 100% recommend bookings for parties larger than 4 although not sure if they do bookings for that amount of people as places usually don't but make sure to show up on time as they are fully packed quite often and will give your table away of you are late by any amount of time! (Which is fair enough) Have been here about 4-5 times. They have a wide selection of meat to choose from, 3 different types of pork, 2 different types of beef, lamb, fish, squid, prawns and abundance of side dishes too. As well as those options you also have soups and drinks (sweet "rice water" which is actually barley.) Dessert options could definitely be improved upon but for $25 I have always enjoyed the food and my time there. The wait staff are very friendly. Am planning to come back here with my partners family in the near future! Fair warning, your clothes will smell like bbq smoke afterwards and there's nothing you can do about it.
Chris Jackson
Made a reservation for 7. Showed up at 7 and was asked to wait 30 minutes as they had given the table away. What's the point in making a reservation? Staff could've notified us but did not.
Love Food
how can start this, alway went there for dinner, they got good food yummy food, one time i made booking, i was late for 5 mins, they rang me up said "i was late sorry sir we have gave away your table for other people" well fair enough but only for 5 mins. that's put me off, i have never got go back again.

Thanks you

Nothing beats an all you can eat Korean BBQ to start off your Saturday night.

I was very impressed by Hanna's BBQ diverse range of meats ( pork belly, pork scotch, beef slices, beef rump, marinated spicy chicken, marinated spicy squid, fish and prawns).

Side dishes which include authentic Korean spicy cabbage, daikon, pickled yellow radish, seaweed, bean sprout and japchae (glass noodles) and favourites such as fried rice, sweet and sour pork, fried kumara, fries, bulgogi and spicy pork.

I found the food to be absolutely amazing and would highly recommend this joint to seasoned BBQ lovers or newbies.

Showstopper: Awesome selection of choices.

Overall Grade: A-

Overall an excellent place to eat for $25adult & $15 under 13 for buffet style its well worth it!!

I was really impressed with the feedback so decided to try this place out for my daughters birthday. We booked in advance when we got there they showed us to our table and turned our two bbq plates on and left us to it. We finally figured out wea th plates were kept and off we went on our food adventure because thats what it felt like. Really tasty food with alot of variety of already cooked dishes. I tried the Chips, spring rolls, crabmeat sushi, crispy sweet and sour nuggets were to die for, pasta salad, coleslaw, and some mildly spicy chicken dishes, stir fry brocolli and fried rice. There were a wide range of cold thinly sliced meats for us to cook like brisket, lamb, chicken, rump beef, pork belly mixed with their wide range of sauces was delious, and large onions and mushrooms. The prawns were very fresh. Deserts were limited with only crisp chopped up apples, sponge cake cubes and plain biscuits. The food trays were always filled up, everything i tasted was yummy and the music was cool and made the atmosphere kickback. Had a great evening and will diffinately be going back.

Hanna Korean BBQ is definitely a decent Korean BBQ restaurant. I have been here once before and for $25, they have quite a variety of meat to choose from. They also have pre made dishes like bulgogi, and japchae, and kimchi which were nice.

The wait staff here were friendly as well, but left us to it which wasn't too bad. Decor isn't too fancy and the restaurant is more on the smaller side, but I had a good experience here and I will be back for sure!
Manu
My first ever Korean BBQ experience was here over 3 years ago. Finally came back and had a good time. Range of meats is good as well as the already cooked food. Overall I'd say this is the best BBQ place I've ever been to and would definitely come back.
Stacey Jane Rainbow
Pretty impressed with this place to be honest! My friend told me to go here as she knows i love to eat! We came with some friends who were travelling in NZ so thought a buffet would be pretty cool! We didnt have a clue what to do when we first walked in as we hadnt been to one of these cook yourself places before! A man came up to us and asked if we had been before and then showed us what to do and explained everytjing for us! He was really nice and was having a joke with us too, im pretty sure he was the manager or owner! He made us feel at ease and said dont hesitate if we needed help! There was a good selection of food and it was a real different experience cooking it ourselves! The chicken was really nice! Its hard to comment on the food in a way because you cook it to how you like but there was a good selection and the food that was precooked was really nice! There wasnt any tags on the precooked food to say what it was but the man helped us out with that! Really enjoyed our experience here but as there was 4 of us i feel like we needed 2 cooking stations as we couldnt fit all the food on haha!
SS
A pretty decent korean BBQ buffet in all honesty. For $25, there is a range of meats, salads, veges, and precooked hot food (i.e. Bulgogi, sweet and sour pork, braised beef ribs etc) and pre made cold food too (I.e. Mashed potato, japchae, coleslaw etc). Dessert range was limited to rice sugar punch and sponge cake but that's pretty standard for a korean BBQ.

Only downside for me, I prefer marinated meats. Only one out of the whole range were marinated which meant I couldn't enjoy most meats. A lot of fatty cuts of meat too which I wasn't too fond of.

No real communication with staff but I guess everything's pretty much self service. Quite a standard korean BBQ set up, nothing too fancy but I definitely think it was quite comfortable. Highly recommend.

Just delicious! Thinking about writing this review has got me wanting to go back again. Staff are so lovely! Exceptional value for the buffet price. Make sure you book, especially in the weekends. We were inexcusably late for our reservation but it was still honoured once we got there. The only thing that would keep it from a 5 is the lack of dessert.. Though you'd be filled up with great food it really isn't noticeable. Look forward to returning for a cheap all-you-can-eat!
Nia Tupouniua
Went in on a busy Friday night we were running quite late but they graciously kept our two grills for six of us so that was a good start. The staff are very friendly and attentive. For $25 the selection of meat and seafood and cold and hit dishes is awesome. The marinated raw chicken was a favourite and kimchi was lovely and not too spicy. Highly recomended!
Fare Henry
Great service! Great selection & plentiful (unlike some other korean BBQ buffet places in Auckland). A good korean BBQ place! great value! very clean! and good for big groups too. Definitely our go-to-place for Korean food.
Me&AucklandFood
For $25 it is well worth your money. The ambience of the place is lovly as well as the staff. Although the food is pretty average I was overall satisfied :)
Kirsten
Decided to come here for dinner for a school event. I think it's the best Korean BBQ restaurant ever in Auckland YET. Booked a table for 25 and started eating. There were a range of meats such as beef brisket, beef ribs, lamb, pork belly etc. Also, squid, mussels, fish, porridge, seaweed soup etc. This place has an amazing vibe to it where everyone can just chill and socialise! Definitely worth the $25 and I will come back again.
Sinthala Boonmixay
I had my surprised 21st birthday dinner here on 28th February 2015 and I must say this is one of the best BBQ korean place in Auckland! Everything was fresh! Only disappointment is the heat, and no fans! Apart from that I have this for dinner at least once a week! Affordable and filling!

This place has great staff, great food and a wonderful ambience (with K-pop music blaring from the speakers). Definitely recommend this place to celebrate a birthday or a joyful occasion but it is best to book a table a few days in advance. Love this place and totally recommend it to any Korean food fan in Auckland.
Savio Valladares
Clean and tidy venue and great staff. Staff make you feel very welcome and always ready to help. The buffet now is $25.00 per person with a good selection. Have to comment that the food is fresh and well presented however lacks flavor and punch that you would expect from Korean Cuisine. Good selection of meats and hot food, also traditional cold drinks and soups. Dessert could be improved as we had sliced apples as dessert
A great place to go with a group of friends but ensure you make a booking as it may be really busy
Aiden Nomotu
This place is so awesome.. the food has so much flavors that I love I can't stop going there.. I like to try new food and when I came across this restaurant in April 2013 and have never stopped going ever since.. I would reccomend for everyone to go.. highly.. great customer service aswel.. x 5star.. :)
