012 is one of the best dishes in Auckland I like it as an entree and side to the dumplings My favourite ones are pork and fennel steamed and beef and chives fried I recommend to get tea You can request songs via txt - look for sign on the wall šŸŽ¶

More or less wound up here on Accident since everywhere else was full on a public holiday. Best mistake I ever made. Food was incredible and portions were excellent. We even had a 10% Holiday Surcharge and still spent less than $20 per person (we weren't able to finish our food and had to take a dish home). If I had to recommend just one dish, I'd go with any of the dumplings. They're quite literally the best dumplings I've had outside of China. The noodles were also excellent

Steamed dumplings feel like xiaolongbaos because theyā€™re so juicy and soupy! Fried eggplant dish was divine, also their traditional deep fried pork also good!

I'd been craving some good dumplings for weeks & whilst driving down Dominion Road late one Monday night I came across New Flavour Restaurant & gave the Fried Dumplings a try. I ordered the pork mince, chive & prawn fried dumplings & they were incredible! I don't know how they managed to get so much juice into them but they'd have to be up there with some of the best dumplings I've ever tasted. If you're expecting run of the mill table service here you'll be disappointed, there's a relaxed atmosphere giving the place a homely feel & it was my first visit to New Flavour & I'll definitely be back again.

The food was good, the quality and quantity was great. wasn't the best chinese restaurant in Auckland I've been before though. I ordered sizzling beef, my favorite Chinese dish, it came not too hot. It is usually sizzling when it arrives and sometimes they cover it to avoid sizzling going through your face but it was like a normal hot dish in hot plate. The restaurant was nearly full my husband and I sat on a 4 chair table, in middle of our order they told us whenever a 2 seat table was free we have to move to the other table as the restaurant gets busy later.

Excellent food and amazing customer service from start to finish. We were lucky enough to be here for the discounted night. I let them know it was my daughterā€™s birthday, the amazing staff played happy birthday and had a big happy birthday LED sign. Overall excellent experience.

Food is good for the price. Dumplings are the best. When it comes to dumplings, they are the best and cheapest in the town. Though you should try their other dishes too. I find some dishes on the costly end, which evens out the cheap dumplings, but if you're drinking late night and wanna grab some bite. This is a place. P.S . My favorite dish is "Beef with brown sauce on rice."

Opens until late which is a big plus. The food is above average. Pricing is unfortunately on the higher end too. This place is conveniently located on Dominion Road where there are plenty of food choices available. Parking are available on the main street and off the main street as well. This place is usually not too packed which is good.

We had the pork belly on rice and fried pork with sweet and sour sauce for dinner, really yum! 18 bucks each, not bad. It was kind of an early dinner on a Friday night, food came in fast. When we left the place was almost full.

Thought we would temp our luck on dominion road and were pleasantly surprised. Lovely staff, and tidy restaurant. Quite possibly the cleanest on Dominion. We had a selection, with each as good as the next. Favourite would be the lamb dish. Vegetables were really tasty too.

Delicious Chinese dishes.Option to BYOW ($7 corckage fee).

Love the pork belly Bao. But it's mini now than before. Dumplings are overcooked and splited. Seaweed and egg soup is quite salty. Overall, food tastes not bad.

Dumplings are hand made, taste is very different compare to frozen ones.guo bao rou i think must be a popular dish, sweet, sour, salty, deep fried pork has a crispy surface, combine with the source. Stir fried pancake is highly recommend to try.sour and spicy soup is ok, i would expect more stronger flavour, taste a bit sweet for me.

Great food and extremely friendly staff

Good quality food, prompt service, and generous servings! My stewed pork belly on rice was really yum and the rice is soaked in sweet brown sauce. Deep fried pork strips with pepper was really tasty (would love to have a lil bit more salt please). I like he way the food is cooked fresh and not so oily unlike other places. Defs worth trying!

Level 3. Adapt. Improvise. Overcome. UberEats. Next on my UberEats adventures was New Flavour. I have been to this place countless times for wine fueled BYO's. It sure hits differently when you're not a bottle deep. Ordered the sizzling beef and cumin lamb. It was fine. Not great, but fine. Portions were really quite small for the price, but I was ready to excuse that if it hit the mark. It sorta did but wasn't anything remarkable. I have had better meals here so I will give it the benefit of the doubt of lockdown.
Scarlett Li
Absolutely terrible food. All the dishes are lazy, tasteless and laking any sort of quality at all. They are obviously all prepared from non fresh frozen meats mixed with store bought sauces. Its the kind of Chinese food you would get from any fish and chip shop in Auckland. Disappointing.

Went at 2:05am on a Friday night and a group came after us and got seated but the staff started arguing and swearing at us saying they canā€™t seat us. Rude and unpleasant staff! The staff were being racist and didnā€™t want to seat us Indians.
Nikita Kumar
Very over priced for what it is, food is lacking flavour and not worth the hype

I reckon this is the best restaurant in the area! Me and my fam come to here every week for family night. The dumplings here are devin! And the crispy pork with sweet and sour are simply the best dish to die for!
Will definitely recommend everyone to try!
Chelsea Farley [CHEL8858 For Zomato Gold]
Had some pretty good fried pork, chive and prawn dumplings here! They also have relatively clean containers for chilli oil, vinegar and soy compared to a lot of the local shops. The spring onion pancakes are also quite nice. One negative is they said they were zomato gold but the staff member we spoke to didnā€™t know how to do it.

šŸŽŠWith over 200 dishes on the menu, from xiao long bao to dumplings, classic dishes to casual noodles, BYO to occasional dinner. Whatever you craving, New Flavour gets you sorted.
We got a good variety of food! The xiaolongbao is perfect, decent size with great flavour! Instead of a traditional Chinese dumpling flavour, we went for the pork mince, bacon and cheese dumplings. It's an unusual flavour, but I actually quite like it, the cheese flavour does make the dumpling taste quite heavy tho.
Kung pao chicken is mildly spicy, super flavorful! The chicken pieces are really tender, a great dish choice for a BYO dinner. The flavour of fried noodles is incredible, but the noodles inside are quite short, not really satisfying when trying to pick them up, if you know what I mean.šŸ˜… Deep-fried eggplants with pork mince are quite oily but surprisingly delicious!
Overall, these dishes all have excellent flavour, good portion size and relatively low price.
Holidays are coming up, if you need a good Chinese restaurant for some family gatherings, friends catch up or pre-party BYO dinner. Look no further! šŸ˜‰

With over 200 dishes on the menu, choosing what to order was a tough process. We got some of the classic Chinese dishes such as Sweet & Sour Pork, Xiao Long Bao, Tomato & Egg on rice and Combination Fried Noodles. We also tried out pork mince, bacon & Cheese dumplings which was an interesting combination but with the cheese, something I feel like you would get sick of if you had too much of. TheĀ deep fried eggplant wiht pork mince was something new for me and surprisingly better than expected. Also enjoyed the Foundry Kumara dessert, which had crunchy cornflake sugary coating, something sweeter to finish off the meal.
Popular for BYOs, the restaurant was fairly quiet when we got there at 6pm but it wasn't long before it got busy and loud. With endless dishes on their menu, there's something for everyone, making it a great place for an affordable meal with the squad.

Check out my insta @ohmyfoodiegoodie to follow more of my tried eats!

If you're looking for BYO casual Chinese restaurant @newflavour_auckland is the place! All their dishes were full of flavour and really warms the tummy - perfect for comfort food. Their XLB is pretty good where the pastry isn't too thick and there's substantial meat inside. We tried the new dumplings šŸ„Ÿwith cheese šŸ§€ inside which had a really interesting flavour and texture where the cheese has melted with the meat. I'd definitely recommend sharing this dish as the cheese can feel a bit heavy! Their sweet n sour pork was also another highlight where their flavour was just šŸ‘ŒšŸ¼ wasn't too sweet or too sour. The sizzling plate is really cool and there's A LOT of meat so again, perfect for sharing. The most interesting dish would be the deep fried šŸ† with mince inside. Doesn't even feel like you're eating your veggies but you are šŸ˜‰ Make sure you go on an empty stomach as you should expect to be in a food coma after šŸ¤¤

LOVE this place. Every time my friends and I come here we fill the entire table with food!! Crispy sweet and sour pork.. best Iā€™ve ever had. It isnā€™t hard and chewy like you get from other places. Itā€™s fresh, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Dumplings - amazing, fried noodles - amazing, fried rice - amazing everything on the menu is amazing. Staff are always smiling and friendly. Forever a favourite of mine.

We ordered takeaway soup. Firstly, the lids on the containers were not properly secured and so there was a leak into the paper bag. Secondly, the paper bag was not strong enough to hold two heavy containers and so the containers fell to the ground. No dinner tonight I suppose.
Dani
A great variety of food choices which are priced at reasonably well and definitely affordable. Great food, really enjoy the noodle soup dishes but my favourite dish are the prawn and egg dumplings fried. Really flavoursome and worth the money. Always my go-to if I am wanting something cheap and filling + tasty.
RL.P
dumplings & noodles are full of flavour. Best Iā€™ve had to date. Plenty of seating. Byo & they open til 4am which is awesome!

My favourite place to get dumplings!Ā

I have been going here since I was 18 - do the mathā€¦ so a very long time!!!

Always order the same dumplings - Pork & Chives - they never disappoint.Ā

The best part is that they are open till the early hours of the morning ā€“ I would much rather go here than McDonaldā€™s after a night of dancing!
Shannon
Ordered the fried tofu with peanuts and chilli sauce and the prawn, eggs and chives dumplings. The tofu itself was great, definitely one of the better tofu dishes Iā€™ve had. Prices were very reasonable, lots of main dishes around the $15 mark and a good variety of vegetarian and tofu dishes too.
CG
We had the prawn egg and chive fried dumplings and the garlic chilli and peanut tofu. Tofu was really tasty although could have been a little more spicy. Dumplings were prity good to, some of the better dumplings I have had in Auckland. Price was slightly cheaper on average for this type of place. Quite a noisy environment to be in unfortunately and the service is your usual basic for this type of place as well. I'll be back to try some more dishes.

Came here once on a late Saturday night. Food was just ok but service was too bad. Staffs are not friendly, brought me a bowl of rice without asking, thought it comes together with the dish, turned out it's $3 for such a tiny bowl of rice...
FoodieHoodie
Best dumplings Iā€™ve ever tasted by far! Loved the variety offered here. 1am/2am drives are worth it for some quality dumplings. Serving portions are generous. Itā€™s a pity that the waiting can sometimes be ridiculously long but it is a very popular place for people to go to.
Lily
The special chilli peanut tofu dish is super tasty, itā€™s part of a seperate menu, would definitely recommend it. The vibes are the same as every other dominion road eatery.
Josh
The service is amazing. Such excellent attention to when we are ready to order and quick service.
The food is great and the atmosphere is pretty good. Highly recommend for the dumplings. Soooo yum.
Carolyn Koloni
Wow! Is all I can say.
Love, Love Love this place. Super extensive menu.
Place super clean and modern...canā€™t forget to mention fab staff. Will def be back with other foodies šŸ˜˜šŸ˜˜šŸ˜˜

Had family dinner here, love the stir fried spicy liver, really deliciousļ¼ staffs are all friendly and helpful, service very fast, environment is ok

First time here and with family. Its BYO but they still serve alcohol of their own. Service was good, but food taste wise was average although I really loved their spring onion pancake. Nice place to try out with good prices.
Lizzie
Came for a BYO & was pleasantly surprised. Has recently been renovated so itā€™s clean and bright inside. The menu is extensive too and so cheap! We had the beef and chive fried dumplings which were so juicy and flavoursome and also the diced chicken with peanut and chilli sauce on noodles which was something quite different but delicious also! Def would come back and try more!
Courtney
Gosh we just loveeee New Flavour šŸ˜˜. Since the interior and kitchen refresh, it has just got better and better! love the crispy spring onion pancakes and always have these to dip in all of the delicious sauces. The crispy green beans with chilli salt, on their special menu, are next level!! Crispy chicken strips sweet and sour, chicken fried rice, pan fried pork and chive dumplings and a beef with spring onions = a good time. šŸ’•
Chelsea
Loved the dumplings, we also ordered hot chilli beef soup, crispy pork with sweet and sour sauce and sizzling prawns. I donā€™t recommend the prawns especially at $20, and the soup was a bit thick, otherwise good service from very friendly staff.

DONā€™T EVER VISIT THIS PLACE. They intentionally scammed us by faking the bill, and refused to produce a tax invoice telling us what we were paying for. Staff were also horrible to deal with, unaccepting of their mistake, and had a flippant attitude.
I would give it 0 stars if I could.

We had a group of 22 people, most of us ordered dumplings or noodles, all of which were around $11-15 a plate. A few people ordered sides/snacks, but all up you would have expected it to cost under $20pp, even after you add corkage.

To my utter shock and surprise, when we went to settle the bill, the extremely rude woman at the counter told us we must each pay $22. When queried why, she pointed at a tattered paper note on the counter which said either pay in full or split equally. Rather unreasonable if you only get to find out at the counter. I pressed on to question why it came to $22, as it appeared ridiculously high considering what we ate, and she couldnā€™t come up with any reason or proof. So we asked for a tax invoice, itemising our order, and she blatantly refused our request - insisting it was $22 each and saying she canā€™t possibly give us a tax invoice. We then informed her that by law, a tax invoice must be provided upon request - she said she couldnā€™t. So we then said ok thatā€™s fine, we will be reporting you to the IRD - she then quickly said ā€œoh, no no, itā€™s $20 per person.ā€ By which time we only had a few people left to pay.
Her defence was that apparently there is a $20pp minimum charge - which we were not informed about at all, at any stage during the night.

After a long argument, she circled all the items we ate on the menu, including corkage, and our total came to only $408.20. Meaning they overcharged our group by over $70. This is clearly fraud.

If you canā€™t do honest business, donā€™t do it at all.
I REPEAT, DONā€™T EVER VISIT THIS PLACE.

Other notes:
- service was shocking:
- guy serving us told us we couldnā€™t join our 2 tables because we will break the floor and fall through the roof
- we asked for water and bowls repeatedly to the same guy and never got it so we went and helped ourselves

Always good coming back to New Flavour.
We ordered pork belly with green beans in brown sauce, chicken in black sauce on noodles & chicken pan fried dumplings! Delicious!
Great service with the waiters welcoming us as soon as we opened the door.
A good place to come once in a while.
Benz Chan
My family tried it here for the first time yesterday when we were too slack to cook dinner. We ordered fried squid, yang chow fried rice, sweet and sour fish and mixed vegetables.

The verdict: nothing spectacular with the dishes. They were certainly filling and tasty plus reasonably priced. We paid $62 including a can of coke.

Will come back to try their dumplings to know how their version compare to their nearby competitors.

Food was alright! Could be a bit more flavour. Found a HAIR in the food. Service was meant well but not very onto it, some staff very rude pushing me to move out of their way without even asking. Not much of an ambience either. Wouldn't go back or recommend to anyone. Looked pretty grubby.
Ocha Free
Dice chicken with peanuts and chilli is the most delicious dish on this planet, sincerely. Eggplant is also a good choice. By the way, service is good.
Michelle
Where do I start. First, they didnā€™t even check IDs for BYO which thereā€™s just no excuse for. Secondly, they refused to give me a side of noodles with my sweet and sour pork which is just obscured and iā€™ve never been to an asian place that doesnā€™t offer a side of noodles or rice on the menu for a small charge. They instead tried to make me pay for noodles and vegetables avoiding to tell me that it would be $12. They didnā€™t even bring water or forks to the table. And lastly, I asked for a small pottle to put chilli oil in and they said that would also be an extra charge. This place is not customer service based at all, theyā€™re just trying to make a quick buck
KTibby
So so. Iā€™ve been hunting around for good vegetarian Chinese food and I was expecting a more authentic Chinese style of cooking so I was a little disappointed. Service was ok.
Marnelli
Good place for a late night feed. It was pretty late and couldnā€™t think of a place to go, I was referred to this place as my partner had their dumplings before. Extensive menu with cheap prices although the flavours were pretty average. We had the sweet and sour chicken, deep fried chicken with lemon sauce and spring onion pancake. Food wasnā€™t super oily which was good but tastes were just okay. Donā€™t know if Iā€™d be keen to come back again, perhaps when thereā€™s no place else to go on a late night.
Epicure
I liked their dumplings and been there couple of times. Every time their dumplings tastes different (donā€™t know why). I have now stopped going there due to my last dumpling order which were really blend. And I kind of lost my trust in this place.

When you are out on the town and need a place to stop in and get a good feed before you go
Home and crash this is the spot!!

You can still come here any other time Iā€™ve been here a few times on dates and catch ups with friends still a great place

We tried a number of different dishes and they were all excellent!! I have enjoyed all of them. My fav is the dumplings šŸ‘ŒšŸ½šŸ‘ŒšŸ½
Danni Liang
I come here for late night feeds if Iā€™m lost on what to eat. They provide cheap food for good authentic quality Chinese food. If youā€™re not sure what to eat, they have mostly everything! dumplings, rice, noodles, salads, stir fry and more varieties. I always order their cucumber salad because it is so fresh, and always a plate of dumplings and fried rice. You leave so full and the staff are always super friendly! Good to come with friends as well.
Carmelia Ng
Great place for dumplings and fantastic value for money when it comes to that. Food however is ok, lots of variety to choose from which is nice.
Good for BYO and large groups because they have an upstairs
Boty
The place to go with friends! Perfect for a late snack! They are open until very late. Great dumplings. Good service. The place can be a bit too noisy, but it is bearable. A classic.
I_like_pickles
Pretty disappointed in my meal here. The food is really oily. The portion sizes are tiny in comparison to other Chinese food along the Dominion road strip. Not good value and portion is so small.

There was barely any meat on the sweet and sour pork. It was more batter than meat. Everything was very fatty and oily.

Would not recommend this place to anybody. Would not come here again. Not sure how they were able to open a franchise in Parnell.
Amanda Grace Leo
One of my favourite late night dinner haunts. I keep on coming back for their Braided Eggplant in Bean sauce and their sweet and sour pork ribs. Fantastic value for money, clean enough. There is sometimes a wait if itā€™s busy, at other times it comes lightning fast.
S&G Take Auckland
Nice friendly staff and good portion sizing especially for the price . $13 for 20 prawn and chive dumplings was good but the piece of prawn inside was minuscule. Broccoli was good. Would be back for another visit
Rao
Would prefer to go to the former owners place (Mr Zhou) in Mt Eden but this is a great alternative. Service has got a heap better! Try chives and prawn dumpling and the deep fried chilli prawns.
Hope
Pork and chive dumplings and tofu and spring onion salad my go to whenever hitting this joint! Love the convenience of the opening hours. Also had the garlic bokchoy which was delish! Food is served fast more often than not. Good lil place to go any night of the week for some thing cheap and cheerful
Ahsan Rahman
Good customer service, very tasty food šŸ„˜ nice decor. Best thing is itā€™s open late 2am. Ordered the beef casserole šŸ„˜ with side rice šŸš. Satisfied.
Shalom Ngaro
Been here a few times now and I have never left hungry or disappointed! They have always delivered on taste and most impressed by the speed in which they bring the food out. I already recommend this place to others that have not tried it yet.
Rohit
Flavours are ok but prices are amazingly cheap. Quantity is good too. We ordered steamed pork and chives dumplings, chicken and peanut chilli on rice and Mongolian sizzling chicken. Dumplings were ok, not as tasty. Chicken and peanut is a great combo dish. Overall, decent restaurant with friendly and polite staff.
Christopher Pearce
Cute little joint in Dominion Road, always great for a BYO. The food isn't the most amazing food in Auckland but for a Friday night it is always worth a visit for some shredded pancake and chicken on rice.
Diogo Reck
Very good, yummy and cheap Chinese restaurant. Love the dumplings and the pork belly, that comes with a finger licking sauce.

Also love the fact that you can eat so much and still spend like $15.
Chris Clark
This place is amazing the food is beautiful. Full of flavour and very quick to come out and the price is very reasonable much cheaper than McDonaldā€™s and better I would recommend this to place to anyone, the service is also great.
Just one thing I would have to note is the toliet upstairs is really awful it smells really bad like it hasnā€™t been cleaned in a long time, toliet paper holder is broken and confetti is all over the walls. It needs to have a good make over and a automatic air fresher on the wall and it will be great but other than that I would be coming back again to this place it is amazing the kitchen is downstairs and the toliet is upstairs so itā€™s not close together
Anne Tupou
Great place for dumplings - Steamed/Fried and even in a soup. One of my personal favourites. The place to go to when you have 2:30am cravings for dumplings :)
Abbey Lissaman
So busy! Amazing place for a causal weeknight dinner with friends. And fantastic value. We ordered 5 dishes to share between the 5 of us and splitting the bill came to only $13 each! Stoked students! Loads of yummy options. Highly recommend the sizzling beef (so good) and any of the dumplings. Will 100% come back here, to eat in or takeaway
Vegesaur
I went last night. 45 minute wait on a takeaway! It was busy when we got there, but after about 10 minutes the restaurant halved. Once we finally got our dumplings and tried them (I got veggie, bf got pork & cabbage) we were very disappointed! Very bland, no seasoning, no flavour. No thanks, won't be back! Its obvious the only reason people go here is because it's the only place open.
Untamed Butterflies
Amazing!!! It only cost approximately $50 for our whole group of four. Including a plate of veggies, 2x large plates of dumplings, and 2x sweet pancakes. So filling and delicious. With a complimentary pot of tea. Service was average, not very attentive. Didnt bring us napkins, or were reachable for forks for those of us that were chopstick challenged, and had to ask for the dessert menu and to take our order. But the cheapness of a good meal outweighed the service to make it a good night out. Will definitely be back again. P.s the red bean pancake is so so good!!

New Flavour is one of Dominion Road's most popular eateries, and for a good reason. It's by no means fancy but it'll certainly have you coming back for more! We come here on the regular when we are feeling like a tasty, cheap meal that is satisfyingly flavoursome and a good balance of naughty and nice.Ā

It gets extremely busy at regular dinner times, particularly nearer and on the weekends (avoid the 7-8 rush if you can).Ā The staff members are efficient, there is no fuss made and you're seated as quickly as possible. Tables and menus are slightly sticky but it's to be expected and honestly adds to the experience - a well used menu is a good sign! We absolutely love the vegetable dumplings, garlic bok choy, and the cucumber and dried tofu salads among many others. The tea is tasty and not overbrewed, and there are all the essential condiments on each table for easy access.

Best of all, they are more than happy to point out vegan dishes for those with dietary requirements. It is much appreciated and alongside the delicious food is why we keep returning for more. Fast, affordable and to-the-point - a favourite of ours!

Food: 4.5/5
Service: 4/5
Ambience: 4/5

Tried this place for the first time, huge fan of barilla dumplings and got referred to try this place as i was told it was just as good, unfortunately was definitely proved wrong. Tried the diced chicken in chilli which was nice, but very small portion.. Also had egg fried rice which for fried rice was super average, bland and really starchy.. even the dumplings were bad, undercooked and pretty tasteless .. disappointed to say the least as we were really excited to try this place , it is just a basic Asian restaurant but after my experience with barilla I expected a lot more .. will not be visiting again unfortunately
Faith T B Wulf
Always enjoy the dumplings from here. I enjoy them boiled and usually order the egg, chives and prawn because I'm pescitarian. You get 20 handmade dumplings per serve and the lovely lady at the cashier has managed to remember us and our order every time me and my partner go in. We never really order much else though just because the dumplings are filling. Can be a 20-30 min wait that is worth it. Only downfall is because it gets so busy sometimes the noise level is too high for our liking but that's because the restaurant is not as large as say, Burger King or McDonald's. Enjoy!
Yeonjun Kim
It is amazing and all the food and it is a shame that it has such small room for customers

Chicken is good dumplings are good and sauce is good everything is good
Little Borneo Girl
The menu was extensive.Ā This area is our regular late-night eating spot.Ā The restaurant is much cleaner now since the renovation and probably new owner.Ā Dumpling was a bit disappointing.Ā We ordered the pork, prawns and chives.Ā The fillings were good but the pastry was a bit too thick and super oily (we ordered the fried ones).Ā The sizzling beef with black beans was nice a tasty.Ā The bill was $60 for 3 people.Ā A nice place for cheap and quick eat as there was not much service here (we had to get walk to the servers to get attention as there was no eye contact though the restaurant was not totally full).
Jocelyn
Saw this one on Zomato randomly.Ā The pork and chives dumplings and the home style noodles with sweet and sour pork, are our favourite. You should book over the weekend, they are usually packed. Strongly recommended for your late night cravings, it's pretty much the only restaurant open in this area after mid-night. The service is quite quick, but yeah, it's really cheap food, so i guess you can ask for everything.
Robert Nie
It is my favour. Nice and tasty. Will come back. Great location as well.
I loved the food as it taste like my hometown.
I never had such favour Chinese food in New Zealand. I ll bring my kiwi friend to the restaurant to taste real Chinese food. Thanks
Heby Wu
I think this is good place to go. I like the food and drinks in the restaurant. It is a good experience in new zealand. I also brings my homestay who are kiwi to go ļ¼Œthey said they want to come back again. My friend would have a big birthday party next weekļ¼Œwe want to come to the restaurant and order all of the food what we wanted.

Have been to this restaurant a couple of times, super good food, especially the stir fried beef, highly recommended, also their dumplings are quite good too, with big portion, only for $13. It's one of my late night craving restaurant in Balmoral.
The Poor Foodie
I came with a large group of people (10+) and we booked a table upstairs so it would just be us and no other customers (and BYO also so good for gathering:)
Ordered sooooo much food (dumplings, stir fry, pancakes, etc)
Steamed and fried dumplings were just average, or even a bit disappointing. The wraps were dry and I couldnā€™t really tell what the fillings were unless someone told me. We ordered 4 different types of dumplings but they all kinda tasted the same.

Cucumber salad was my favourite. It was an entree but I ate a lot of it. The cucumber was mixed with not too spicy sauce so it was appetising.
Stir fry veggies and beef were tasty but nothing impressive.

Will I come back?
- for the cucumber salad? Yes. But definitely not for dumplings.
Stephanie Kourti
Staff were inattentive and overworked. We ordered fried dumplings and they were barely fried, we hardly ate any. We also ordered drinks as soon as we sat down, but we did not get them until we had nearly finished our meal (after reminding the staff twice that we were waiting). Tables were sticky and unclean, toilets weren't very clean either. I understand that this is very affordable, but it was by no means enjoyable.
Marie
We visited New Flavour on a Thursday evening and ordered take away.Ā We ordered Pork and fennel dumplings, sweet and sour pork with two servings of rice for $30 for two.Ā Ā The Sweet and sour pork and rice was good, the dumplings however weren't for us as it was one of the first times we had tried fennel. The girl at the till was absolutely lovely and this made up for the 30 minute wait time.
Sid
The dumplings we had were yummy. However the tables were a little sticky. The staff seemed overworked, maybe hire more staff? Otherwise overall a decently good experience.

MY FAVOURITE PLACE TO EAT šŸ‘šŸ½šŸ‘šŸ½
The food is such good value for money and super delicious.
The staff are nice-ish, however I donā€™t think they should be discredited for their attitude seeing as they work from 5pm to 4am each night.

My must tryā€™s are the bok choy with mashed garlic, eggplant with brown sauce and the veggie dumplings.

I come back here at least once a month or whenever my wallet allows. Soooo gooooodddd!!
Mansika Khuathep
That was the most terrible fried pan dumpling ever,
It hasnā€™t been cooked I taste row chicken, also I havenā€™t eaten the dish but she(shop owner) charged me full price, I wish I took a pic to show you what they cooked for mešŸ‘ŽšŸ‘ŽšŸ‘ŽšŸ‘ŽšŸ‘ŽšŸ‘ŽšŸ‘ŽšŸ‘Ž
Never go there again
No recommended at all

Awesome dumplings!!! Super yummy food I've eaten one of pretty much anything you can get made vegan - sweet and sour tofu is my favourite. Had a caramelised kumara dish which was sweet and crunchy and totally delicious for dessert.

Been a regular here for ages now. Tbh it was better before the original owner left, but it's still pretty good. We always have the pork and chives dumplings and the home style noodles with sweet and sour pork. We took a Chinese native here once and she said it wasn't authentic, but to us it's tasty. Not as greasy as other places we've been to. Ask for less salt in the noodle dishes
Christina Linette
The food is great! I go back atleast once a week. The dumplings are great, especially the pork prawn and chives. My go-to is the diced chicken with peanuts on rice. I feel that the ratio of rice to topping could be better (should be more topping). Can't wait to try more of their many options!

highly recommend dumpling restaurant. dumpling making is in a satisfied size and tasted surprisingly good. side dishes are really good as well.
hands down the best daily go around place in my opinion. thx New Flavor. much love!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Aimee.
The food here is definitely great value for money. Generous portions for what you pay. There's a huge variety of dishes to choose from like dumplings, soup noodle, rice noodle, fried rice and all kinds of meat and vegetable dishes. Tasty and well seasoned. Restaurant itself looks a little run down and old. But if you donā€™t mind that then this restaurant is definitely for you.

This place is okay but probably not somewhere I would go back to. It wasn't as nice as Barilla Dumplings. A large group of us came here last weekend and shared a variety of dishes. Ā Reasons I gave it a low score? 1. Its dirty. 2. The service is not that great ( we even had to get our own glasses and chopsticks, as none were bought to us). 3. One lot of the dumplings we had tasted disgusting and were filled with oil inside. 4. It's byo but there are no wine glasses available? . Otherwise this place was ok. The other dumplings we had were nice. The Mapo tofu was good but not great like at other places I've had it. The noodle soup was ok. The prices are great however, a very cheap dinner to have. All in all this place is okay.

Went on a Monday night and thankfully the place wasn't too packed. Ordered the vegetarian dumplings, fried tofu with sweet and sour sauce (no egg) and a side of rice. Both food and service was good. Would definitely visit again.

Absolutely delicious! Our go to spot, but not an awesome venue. Always better for takeaway. The dumplings are the best and the bok choy is cooked perfect

Really disappointed in this place...had really high hopes, but was let down. Had prom and prawn chives dumplings fries, was pretty bad. And their chilli chicken on rice had no taste. I am usually the one to take photos, but wasn't photo worthy

Whether it be apart of a BYO dinner, a small group or with one other person, New Flavour never disappoints. Quick, cheap and easy. The food is always good and who isn't down for some dumplings at 3am? A favourite of mine.

I've been coming here semi-regularly for the last few years now and always guaranteed to satisfy your dumpling craving.
I went tonight with friends and despite the yummy food this place has always been pretty cheap and careful, however tonight they had upped there game slightly. Overall cleanliness seemed to have improved since last coming here a few months ago. It was also good to see they have recently reprinted their menu, which used to always be a bit touch and go.
Recommendations: Pork and chives dumplings never disappoint. Beef and coriander is also a goodie. To top it off you can never go past a cucumber salad.
Also a quick tip is to ask for little bowls so you can mix your own dipping sauce concoction šŸ‘ŒšŸ¼

The service was horrible as the lady who brought us the food just threw it to us and she looked as if she hated her job as well. Also, we waited exactly 30mins for two dishes when there were only 5 active tables in the whole restaurant - and it's not like the dumplings get freshly made per order anyways, they're premade frozen. Serve your customers first, not the family friends who went in 10mins after your customers. The dumplings were beef and cabbage which half of them were red - not fresh beef and not cooked properly (I had to open every one of them to check). The noodles were sour as well. $25 for two is ideal.

Taste - 1/10
Quality - 1/10
Service - 1/10
Size - 6/10
Price - 7/10

Best place ever and the best dumplings, also have a massive and great menu and really great prices. The best food but the service can be a little slow at times but they are always friendly and always go there as they know my order as soon as I walk in the door.

I love dumplings and because this is in my area it's one of my favs. Dumplings here are always the goods. You've got to get in on the braised eggplant it is orgasmic. Great for a cheap feed and awesome for groups.
Claire
Love this place. Good value dumplings, fun place to eat with friends. It's a popular place though so definitely recommend booking in advance where possible!

The fried vegetarian dumplings here are delicious! Gotten a few times now. You get a decent amount of dumplings for the price. Additionally the vegetarian fried rice is good too, though smells strongly of peanuts even though you can't taste them (perhaps uses peanut oil).

Only downside is their menu is confusing with a section on "vegetables", which i assumed was for vegetarians, but it has meat in this section.

Suggested by two of my friends, this busy Balmoral restaurant has a nice menu filled with goodies. Had the Chicken and Chives dumplings and did try my friends pancake. Did come at peak time you could say and had to wait for 30 minutes still even though we rang 15 minutes prior. Food was delicious but service time needs to be improved.
Reuben Philip
Were ordered about 9 platters of food for takeaway. Food was served reasonably quickly, 25 minutes, and was still hot after reaching home. Opening hours are super convenient and the grub tasted nice.

Came here during peak hours so had to wait for a table.
Service was kind of slack, but understandable.
Their portions were pretty small compared to other places, but I guess that's what you'd expect for the relatively cheap price you're paying for.
Ordered the spicy diced fried chicken, small portion, half the plate was just red chillies instead of CHICKEN, so it was disappointing. Also had the sweet and sour pork, small portion once again but flavour was ok.
Flavour wise, not too bad, not the best either.
Lots of dishes to choose from though which is always a good thing.
May be back to try other dishes.
The dumplings here are BOMB. Pan fried pork and chives are what I usually get and they are so good every time. Good price too!
The one time I've gotten chicken and corn soup too that was amazing as I was going up Mount Eden that night and it was cold, so the soup was perfect.

A couple of times the people on the phone are a bit rude but the dumplings are worth it LOL.
Josh Farrelly
This place used to be better. Menus were frankly disgusting, all discoloured and torn. Tea pot and plates were all chipped and must have been used hundreds of times prior. Soy sauce and vinegar jars leaking and generally gross. Staff barely acknowledge your existance, menus are thrown on the table without saying a word, not a smile or a thank you in sight. Service has always been bad on prior visits.. Now on the same level as Barilla Dumpling (which is not a compliment!).

New Flavour used to represent good value but I think the prices have gone up lately as it's getting quite expensive now for a "cheap eats" restaurant. These lot need to stop resting on their laurels of previous success and metro reviews and really up their game.

This is my favourite place in balmoral for a BYO. Delicious food and great atmosphere. Their black pepper sizzling beef and spicy beans are the best!

Some of the best dumplings in Auckland!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is definitely one of the stand outs on Dominion Road. Their dumplings are very good compared to other Asian restaurants and price to portion size is fair. However their other menu items are standard and unimpressionable. I would advise calling in to book your order as waiting times can be very long (place is always busy). Open till late so always a bonus!

A late night restaurant that is open when I am done with work. Don't have to go to MC Donald's or BK. The food here is okie but I love the dumplings. They have a lot of variety of dumplings.
I also had a pancakes it wasn't the greatest it was covers in oil that wasn't great. And if you have a chilli sauce for take always they charge you .50 c well and if you dine in it's free :/ just not impressed with that. But again the dumplings are good
Flora
The amount of food doesn't worth the price... Onion are badly cut they even keep the root of the onion. Below average flavor... Black pepper beef can barely taste the black pepper

The food portion was little like kids meal, and the taste was weird. Worst Chinese restaurant ever I tried. I've no idea why there were quite a lot customers, maybe the location or something. Pretty bad tho

Food: I personally love the dan dan noodles they do here. They don't have sichuan pepper in them which i am very glad for (they taste literally like what you would imagine moss balls to taste like and they numb your mouth of its taste). Their cucumber & dried tofu salad is a great entree, but they recently added corriander to the dish which doesn't really go well with the sauce. Dumplings have started to become smaller than they usually were.

Environment: usually its super busy and you have to wait around on busy evenings. Also being not too strict on BYOs, it tends to attract the large younger crowds which at times make it a too noisy.

Price: i used to think the price was fair, but i have found that the portions of food served seem to reduce. Compared to other dumpling shops they seem to be slightly on the expensive side.

May return if the crave their dan dan noodles, but would'nt be rushing back for their dumplings.

I haven't been to new flavours for a while since i heard that the owner moved to new lynn. How ever last night i had a craving for their combination pancakes and sweet and sour pork, so we drove to dominion road around 9pm for a late dinner.

The place was pretty quiet, given it was a Monday night. We ordered a plate of stir fried broccoli with garlic, combinations pancake (its like combination meat fried noodles, but instead of noodles... it was sliced pancake) and a plate of sweet and sour pork.

Both the broccoli dishes and the pancake dishes were extra yum! The sweet and sour pork however was quite average. I mean it was still nice but, it is definitely not the same dish as before. It was more sweet than sour and it wasn't as crispy.

But overall I thought the foods were pretty decent, efficient service... and they were pretty cheap.

Lana Maria Lazarevich
The dumplings were nice and there was a great range of flavours. Service was OK but it took quite a while for our food to come out and it was a bit awkward with everyone's food not coming out at the same time (large group). Squid was rubbish. Best for a late night bite or pregaming.

The best dumplings in NZ for me ! My favorite is mutton and fennel pan fried dumplings ! The cucumber and tofu salad is so amazing,If you came to there you must try it ! They BYO only charge for $3 !

I like new flavour. The food there is so yum. Pork and chives fried dumplings are my favourite. I recommended the restaurant to my friends already, and I will go the restaurant again and try some new dishes.

Come Saturday night for a family dinner, 8 people plus two
kids. Made the reservation before. Very clean for a casual Chinese restaurant and easy parking. So busy, many takeaway as well, but still felt polite service. dishes come fast! the best tofu and cucumber salad I had before!!! I really like the pork fennel dumplings, beef chives dumplings, succulent meat, fresh vegetable,Ā
the prawn ball is impressed and will absolutely to come again, the hot tea make me feel Ā warm and comfortable, Staffs are all busy, but still patient introduce us and recommend dishes according to our needs, we spent less than one hour to finish the dinner and feel really satisfied.

Love this restaurant and the food is really delicious the most popular one is dumpling and bokchoy with garlic. The waiter's attitude is nice and so many people in this restaurant so sometimes is really busy

The absolute best dumplings in the city bar none. Someone at work told me about this place, saying that the chicken and coriander dumplings were amazing as were the chicken and onion ones. I highly recommend the chicken coriander dumplings steamed.

The place is not known for its ambience so you know that you are solely paying for the food and the taste. It's not expensive at all and the options are healthier than most other takeaway places.

On a night in, it is the perfect solution to rid yourself of the task of having to cook.

Great place if you have no idea where else to go. They also open late for those looking for a feed after hours.

Don't get me wrong, they do serve up decent Chinese cooking that is pretty yummy, but it won't be a place I crave to go to.

This place is great for big groups as it has upstairs seating too. It is cleaner than their old location. However note if you're upstairs beware you may be neglected.

Our food took a while to arrive and dumplings were forgotten. However when food came, we were happy with them. They somehow seem different to the usual Chinese food I am used to, but still taste good nonetheless.

I came to New Flavour last night with a group of friends, and if you're after some place with nice ambience and good service, this isn't it. The tea they serve isn't fresh - the tea leaves are replaced every so often, and the water is added to the same tea leaves over and over so it's as if you're drinking coloured water. The tables aren't clean so keep your hands to yourself. The chilli oil, vinegar, and soy sauce containers have a sticky residue on them, and so does the Lazy Susan so there really is no escape. New Flavour is renowned for the substandard service, but the waitress who served us was new and our table was her first, so anxiety is natural and forgivable.

FOOD: We ordered 4 x vegetarian dumplings (1 x steamed and 3 x fried), 1 x fried tofu in sweet and sour sauce (no egg), 2 x stir fried broccoli with mashed garlic, and 1 x vegetarian fried noodles.

Dumplings: The filling in the dumplings was nice, but not great. The fried dumplings hardly had any colour on them, which was a tad disappointing. Some dumplings were squashed, and hardly had any filling in them (presumably frozen). They'd taste a lot better if the dumpling wrapper was a bit thinner.

Fried tofu in sweet and sour sauce: This was the highlight of the evening. The tofu didn't have a strong soy flavour or gelatinous texture, and the sauce stuck to the tofu quite nicely (which I'm assuming is because the tofu might've been tossed in cornflour). The capsicum and onions were crunchy, but the sauce was quite generic.

Broccoli: This was inconsistent, as the first plate we received was just perfect - crunchy broccoli, heaps of garlic, clean flavour. The second plate wasn't as satisfying as the broccoli was too salty, and ever so slightly overcooked. It would've been much nicer had they used Chinese broccoli (Gal lan), but I wouldn't know if that's only for dim sum.

Fried noodles: Standard and filling. Vegetables in here are scarce, and there's an aftertaste of cheap oil left in your mouth.

The food here isn't bad, but it isn't something that makes you want to come back the very next day. I will leave New Flavour for nights when I've had too much to drink, and my tastebuds have decided not to cooperate.
Asher
Food took quite a while to come out, but wasn't too bad overall, just not the best dumplings around. Friendly staff just took too long to come.

Its average now that the new owner moved and now runs mr zhou's dumplings...nuff said. Their chilli chicken isn't the same and their crispy pork isn't what it used to be. If you want the old school new flavour, move on..

Best place for some dumplings. Our favorite is the prawn pork and chives dumpling(Fried). The crispy beans and deep fried pork stuffed egg plant is our all time go to dish.
I'm Hungry
This place is the biggest saviour for middle of the night hunger attacks. I am a big asian street food fan but not as impressed by new flavours as its popularity and fame goes. No doubt the dumplings are good and I have had them on various occasions. The biggest highlight was walking in after 4am when it was closed and all packed and the staff still served us food for takeaway knowing we were hungry. Food is good, positions are huge, very cheap, always find place to sit, is BYO, and service is quick. I love their dumpling soup which is just a $1 extra. But I am not a big fan of the dumplings. Must try especially in the wee hrs this is the best place close to the city to go to.
Ashleigh Michelle
The food is good quality, however quite small for the prices. I love their vegetable dishes, especially the sweet eggplant one. Their Chinese pancakes are amazing (fluffy and not too thin). I like how the menu is layed out very clearly compared to other restaurants on Dominion Road in which it can be hard to tell what you are ordering or where to find what you want. Always very busy and sometimes way too loud here!
Frank Lin
i found the portions to be more than adequate although the restaurant does get quite hot on summer days.

the service is average and nothing great to rave about.

i had the spicy noodles which were nice and delicious.

I've heard good things about New Flavour from people I know but there was just something about this place that never quite attracted me to it. I finally gave in and took the chance with a few friends. Unfortunately it was quite a disappointing experience.

It didn't look very clean and the more time I spent inside, the more apparent it became and the harder I tried pretending not to notice. Although we did stop by during a busy time, there really isn't any excuse for doing a halfhearted job with cleaning tables with unwashed, dirty cloths.

The service is barely average. Staff are clearly overworked and rushed so there's little patience especially if there is a a language barrier.

We ordered four things: fried diced chicken with hot chilli sauce on noodles, deep fried squid with cumin and chives, fried pork and chives dumplings and stir fried prawns.

The fried diced chicken with hot chilli sauce on noodles was disappointing. I was expecting it to be a little spicy but it was just bland and had no kick. My friend enjoyed the noodles by itself though. They had good texture.

The deep fried squid with cumin and chives was even more disappointing. Hardly any squid flavour - they were cut thin with more batter than necessary and also soggy. There was no crunch nor chew. To kick you while you were down, there was too much cumin.

The stir fried prawns were really nothing to rave about but they weren't terrible. There was a light coating of what could have been egg around the prawns and we think they were deep fried first before they were stir fried. For what reason, I'm not sure but I'm pretty sure it would have been a better dish if they skipped that part.

If there was a highlight then it would have been the dumplings but even so, only average at best and you can definitely get better ones elsewhere.

This place is not a bang for your buck as the prices don't quite match portion sizes compared to other Chinese eateries. If you stick to the dumplings though, then it's okay but you sure can get the same if not better at many other restaurants nearby.

I wasn't in a rush to come here and I'm not in a rush to go back.

I love this place. 20 vegan dumplings for $15 = yes. Shredded tofu and cucumber salad was amazing. and kumara in hot toffee for dessert was new and delicious. Fast service even though it was busy. Took my left overs home in a takeaway container :D Oh and super affordable, two people with left overs for $55.

I usually work till late night in this area and this place is open at that time. They are perfect!! My usual order is the chicken fried rice and prawns and pork dumplings. I have never been disappointment with them and have tried other things on the menu as well. They have good customer service and are very friendly and quick with turning out orders. The food here is delicious and they give very generous portions. The place is clean and always busy which is also a very good sign. They are my go to for late night dinners. Make sure to give this place a go I'm sure they will soon become you go to soon.
They was a hair cooked into one of our dumplings. First the staff tried to deny it then were very resistant to doing anything about it. Will not be returning!!

Dined there with my family tonight. Ordered three meals... The combination fried rice was very disappointing. To be honest the worst one ever... Complained and they replaced it with a better one. Paid $41 for the three... which is quite a bit. The other two dishes were just okay but below my expectation. Wont go there again... Please we pay money to eat what you cook, make sure meals are best cooked and well presented. Thanks.

Not an enjoyable experience - the first floor was 90% full, the second floor was empty, yet the customer service was very slow, but by the far the worst experience was eating the food itself.

Ordered:
- seasonal vegetables - below average portion size, very oily, mostly the cheaper veges
- sizzling mongolian lamb - 95% fat, very very oily, bland
- pancake - very oily, close to no green onions, quite rigid
- steamed and friend dumplings - the best dishes of the night were average, filling was not succulent, but was kind of dry

Paid $60+ and would not go back there.

First time came with my friends on Friday night, this place is highly recommended by all my friends who love Chinese food by me. Predictably, it was very busy with many people lining up for a table or ordering takeaway, we didn't wait so long and got one table, but I will book a table before!šŸ’ƒšŸ»

They serviced Chinese tea before we ordering, I really appreciated. The menu design and wall decoration expressed me, it likes be in China. We definitely ordered dumplings, the vegetarian dumplings with fragrant mushroom, preserved vegetable and tofu is so yummy. I also particularly enjoyed the prawn, chives and pork dumplings, we made it half steamed and half fried, the dumplings skin was taste tender and meat was well seasoned.

The deep fried sliced pork with sweet and sour sauce was really great combination! To my surprise, sizzling chicken with chili fermented soya beans is so juicy that go with rice. Cucumber and tofu salad wouldn't miss, I really curious how they mix the spices to make this in credible flavor, you must try, trust me.

Don't miss spring onion pancake and brown sugar pancake !! I saw the table beside ordered pancake, so we tried and the result didn't disappoint definitely.

Even though many to accommodate, the staffs were attentive and food came are relative quick. twenty dumplings are about $11, and we spent about $17 per person to enjoy a satisfied dinner. We also takeaway the food haven't finished.

Definitely downgraded that standard of food since we were last here. We had the jelly fish entree which was 99% cucumber with chilli oil and msg! The prawns in special sauce, prawns were fried ok but the special sauce is a horribly overpowering Wasabi mayo and the Mongolian chicken which was bland and overloaded in onions. The only plus side is the food is served quickly despite it being packed. Wouldn't return here as there are much better options around.
Vikram160
Writing the review while I am still having my chicken fried rice for which they did not even give an extra plate when requested. The staff member said we don't have extra plates and asked us to use the saucers, are you serious?!
The chicken dumplings are good, hence the rating!
Yeah, chicken fried rice hardly had chicken pieces in it :(

A bit torn about this place; came here for dinner with a group and ordered the deep fried squid, stir fried prawns, some fried dumplings (as recommended by many) and chilli noodles. Portion wise I think the prices were a bit steep especially for the prawns and squid which were more battered (a tad on the soggy side) than deep fried really. The noodle dish as a whole itself was a bit disappointing in flavours but two thumbs up for the noodles by itself šŸ‘šŸ‘ they were delicious! Dumplings too were the highlight of the meal but you probably could get better ones else where.

Wouldn't say I won't be coming back but new flavour is a place that I would go back to if it was 2am in the morning and my only option was maccas or Chinese. All in all not bad really, just decidedly average. Service is as expected from a Chinese restaurant but that doesn't really bother me at all as it adds to the atmosphere.

Hungusmcfatty
Decidedly average dumplings but the other menu items are delicious.
Would recommend the dried tofu and cucumber salad. Coriander and chilli oil livens up the otherwise bland tofu and cucumber.
The stir fried pork belly with green beans was quite good. It's plenty flavourful despite having no sauce.
Best to give the egg, chive, and shrimp dumplings a miss. They were too soggy and watery, plus the filling didn't hold together.
This place is great for affordable food which is equally tasty.
The service is good and the food is serve quickly.
Note to self though : Never seat on the very corner for so called 'privacy setting'...it's really hot and humid once you stay in there for more than 30min. My and my friends are sweating and no its not because of spicy food.
Plenty of seats and good for large group.
Definitely will come back. ā˜ŗ

Ordered fried dumplings and yangchow fried rice for takeaway and it took ages. Other restaurants would take half the time. Would not come back here again.

Having recently reopened, I expected the restaurant to come up with better flavours and better service but unfortunately we didn't get either last night.

It was really busy when we came, so the four of us ended up sitting at a big round 8-seated table upstairs. We ordered our food and waited. And waited. We ended up sharing the table with another couple which was fine. But what wasn't fine was that they got their food before us even though we ordered first. We also asked for small plates for us to eat in but the lady just said they were only For downstairs customers and there won't be enough since it was so busy. What?? My bro went downstairs anyway and got some which didn't even seem to be a problem. The lady was probably just too lazy to go downstairs to get some. Geez.

The time difference between our first dish and second dish was also another 20 or so minutes which by that time we were ready to leave. When we asked the lady when our food is coming, she just replied "I don't know". That's quality service right there.

Luckily the rest of our food all came pretty quickly after that and since we were really hungry by then we just stayed and ate them. They weren't that great either. The pork and chives dumplings were good though. The fried beef with black bean sauce was very small for $16 and were overcooked. The chicken pieces with sweet and sour pork weren't too bad, but the sauce could do with more work. They also gave us combination noodles instead of the chicken one we ordered.

Definitely a let down in both service and flavour. Didn't even take photos since we were so starving by then. Wouldn't come back here again.

This place is so awesome. Have been here on numerous occasions and each time I leave knowing I will definitely return. Food is always tasty, hearty and filling, and the service is also very quick and efficient. The menu has changed slightly, in my opinion for the better.

! Highly recommend dumpling fans to try this place out !

EDIT: have not been back since April. Had a disappointing experience, even though quality of food is good, the insane wait time (at least 40 minutes between the first and last dish) was not satisfactory. Was only informed about longer waits due to shortage of staff when questioning waitresses about why there was such a long wait for food and why certain dishes were taking so long. Could have told us earlier so we could make the choice to eat here/elsewhere before being seated given there was a good 15 minute wait for a table. Hungry people are not particularly happy people! Ā Won't be back any time soon.

The service is friendly and prompt. The menu is massive. I've been here a few times and never felt the need to eat the same thing twice. The food is great too, my pick of the bunch on Dominion.

My fave place. I've been coming here for years. Great dumplings and noodles all made at the restaurant. My go to dishes are usually the pork and chives dumplings, beef brisket soup noodles, and either the red bean pancakes or spring onions pancakes.
With recent expansion (and move of restaurant) there is a whole lot more seating space with an upstairs area. The food has changed a little since the original restaurant but still good food for cheap :)

DOESNT TAKE CREDIT CARD šŸ˜ŠšŸ˜‘ Came across this place while looking for somewhere to grab a late night bite down Dominion road. The restaurant itself it quite large with an upstairs section as well as a downstairs. The decor is as basic as can be but that doesn't really matter when it's all about the food! Staff were nice but lacked communication skills, table was not cleared properly and the utensils were very random? (Metal dessert spoon for noodle soup). Lots of options to pick from, from tripe to eggs in hot toffee! The noodle soups were pretty decent but I could of found the same thing at my local Chinese takeaway for even cheaper. Overall I would say this place is just ok

I always enjoy New Flavour for a casual, cheap dinner. They definately do the best dumplings! I prefer NF to Barilla, the service here is much better and the staff are friendlier.Ā

Favourite dishes would be the fried pork and chives dumplings, chilli chicken and brown sugar pancakes. To be honest, im not so much a fan of the other rice/noodle/meat dishes. The meat is usually low quality and very fatty/chewy to eat (especially the lamb and beef) but the dumplings and pancakes will not disappoint!

We've been regulars at New Flavour for a year or so because the food has always been so good, but based on tonight's experience we won't be back in a hurry. And judging by how busy it wasn't at 7pm on a Friday night I suspect we are not the only ones to have been disappointed recently. It was the worst meal we've ever had on Dominion Rd. The dumplings were greasy and not hot. The pancakes particularly greasy, and the sizzling seafood was unbelievably bad... Most of the stuff on the plate was not recognisable as seafood - just bits of some frightening sort of seafood sausage.
Maybe they're under new management. Maybe it was just a bad day.

Flavor flav as we call it. When it's 2am on a Saturday night. Or midnight on a Thursday. You're hangry. Where you gonna go. NEW FLAVOR. We have never had any issues here. The sweet and sour crispy chicken is always extra crispy, the beans are always hot, the tea is free, and you must Order pancakes to mop up all the sauces. Ends up being a cheap night out when you have lots of people to share. Just remember they're closed Tuesday's.

NF is another great place on Dom Rd for flavoursome dumplings. We have been lucky enough not to have had to wait too long to get a seats for our groups and just like Barilla, these guys offer real value for money and the food's really tasty.

Steamed dumplings again being the preference but this time w. the savoury pancakes. All flavour combinations work and those delicious green beans. Something we can never quite recreate @ home.

We've walked past New flavour many times and it's continuously busy, so we decided to check it out. The service is pretty average and you may find yourself flagging down the staff to get some attention. The interior could do with a bit of work but there is a reasonable amount of seating.

There menu is huge - there should be something for everyone! We opted for two vegetarian dishes to share between my partner and I ā€“ vegetarian fried noodles ($10) and the braised tofu with brown sauce ($12.80). Both dishes were really tasty, well portioned and good value for money.

What can I say. This is one of the reasons I keep coming back to New Zealand.
Normally I'm with between 3 and 10 other people and it's cranking busy and so full of smiles and laughs from a hip looking twenty something crowd of mt Albert, Eden and Dominion road dwellers.
So hip.
Much dumpling.
Very China.

This time it was so quiet. Only two other tables.

Ok. Back to the food.
You HAVE to order the cucumber and fried tofu. You will not regret.
Also.. Get your dumplings fried. Is only way.

Also. Make good use of byo. Bottle shop down the road. Green tea good.
Chilli chicken amazing.

I can't contain myself this place is just so great.
Staff are quirky and a bit over it but sweet and you gotta just roll with it.
Upstairs has big tables with lazy Susan's. Be careful. Experiments into centrifugal forces can result in a disaster. This has already been tested.
Just get there as fast as you can and eat some. Open late too!!

ā™„ļøā™„ļøā™„ļø
Anna Daley Gilaad Amir Sarah Forsyth Luke Wigley Sam Cottrell-Davies
New flavour is phenomenal. People go for dumplings, but many have yet to realise the real gem here is the food itself. I'll go solo after work, drunk at 2am on Saturday night, or with crews of up to 15, and the food is always bangin! 5 stars to chilli oil chicken, tofu and cucumber salad, fried squid with cumin, braised eggplant in brown sauce, and the list goes on.

Service ain't flash, but it's part of the experience and makes for many laughs. Also, it's BYO, so really what more could you ask for in a cheap and cheerful restaurant.

Highly recommend, would go again at least 5 times in the next month. BOOM. Make me a VIP already. I must be at least 2000 dumplings in by now.

Yum Yum Yum!

Pork and Chives Dumplings - So Good!
Pork and Prawn Dumplings - Good but above are better!

We also had a side of beans with pork belly and it was delicious!Ā

My friends come here all the time and rave about it so I decided this time I would join and im glad I did. Loved it.

Will definately be back again soon.

I needed to find a new favourite place for my all too frequent dumpling cravings (given that Barilla served us plastic in theirs and didnā€™t even seem apologetic at all when we pointed it out -.-). I thought iā€™d give New Flavour a goā€¦ā€¦

First of all, I drove past and couldnā€™t see a free table so I decided iā€™d call and make a reservation while I drove around looking car parks. She literally said hi and hung upā€¦.. I called back and I managed to ask if there were tables freeā€¦ she said yes and hung up again. Great start.

A table was being cleared as we walked in - YAY! One of the wait staff wiped down the table with a cloth that smelt like it hadnā€™t been washed in god knows how longā€¦. Yes, it dried smelling horrid and we literally had to deal with it for the rest of the evening.

Ok - so we ordered Pork, prawn and chive dumplings, Crispy pork in sweet and sour sauce, a red bean pancake and a spring onion pancake. The pork and pancakes arrived shortly. Disappointed with the pork, it was too crunchy and had absolutely no meat. All batter. The pancakes were slightly better - in fact I recommend the red bean one.

15 minutes later - we finished the food and still no dumplings
another 10 minutes later - still no dumplings, so i thought id ask
10 minutes later - she comes to our table to tell us theyā€™re coming
another 10 minutes later- she comes to apologise and tells us they accidentally gave our dumplings to someone else - she then told us to wait another 8 minutes.

So, we left. Hungry.

The vegetarian fried noodles and dumplings were both vegan-friendly and were absolutely delicious. They were very reasonably priced and you got a lot of food for the little you paid. The only real let down was the interior, it was very cold and a lot of tape was used to cover areas where drafts were coming through. Not the nicest of atmospheres. Would return again however, purely for the food.

On night shift, thought I would grab a meal from here. Had the "fried tofu with peanuts and chilli sauce" at 2:30am, was quite an enjoyable meal and staff were quite friendly. Good stuff!
Jessie Kaur Waraich
The best part was the price, everything was so cheap and the portions of food were large. You really got your money's worth. The food was flavoured well, could it have been better yes, but you really can't complain when you consider how much you get with what you pay. The dumplings were delicious and the noodles were really good. Will definitely be going back.

I love New Flavour so much. We nearly always get the same thing: Beef and coriander dumplings (fried) and pork, prawn and chive dumplings (steamed). They're so fresh and tasty, no overload of grease or salt. I love biting into them and getting the hit of juicy delicious broth and tender meat filling. Other items on the menu I highly recommend are:
- Deep fried chicken in chili oil (don't miss this)
- Stir fried bok choy with mashed garlic
- Sweet and sour tofu balls
- Lemon chicken

I probably go here at least once a fortnight and for $10-12 for a plate of dumplings it never breaks the bank... unless we go a bit crazy and order lots of stuff. But then we have leftovers for days so that's okay :)

Iā€™m currently in the middle of a major love affair with dumplings, and a friend suggested New Flavour as she loves the dumplings there. I usually have dumplings in soup, so this is what I ordered here. It was a mistake. I should have ordered plain dumplings and doused them in the delicious soy and vinegar that were provided on the table. I didnā€™t enjoy the soup at all, and ended up pulling all the dumplings out to eat on their own. I was also unhappy that the person I went to eat with got their meal 15 minutes before my dumplings arrived, although the restaurant was very busy. I was annoyed about having to wait between our meals arriving, and at my own mistake with the soup. Iā€™m going to go back again soon and try it out again and hope for a slightly better experience.

Went here for dinner on Saturday night and ordered spicy chicken on noodles for takeaway. About half way through my meal I noticed something odd in my meal which looked like a strand of hair, but on further inspection I discovered that it was a rigid piece of wire! If I were to swallow the wire I'm pretty sure it would cause some serious damage.
This is totally unacceptable and the chefs/owners need to take more care in how they prepare their food.
And based on my experience here I would definitely not recommend eating here.

If your looking for terrible service, likely dose of food poisoning, and horrible atmosphere, you have come to the right place. Quite possibly the worst dining experience of my life.
Tracey Florence Su'a
Been eating here since 2008 & every time I dine here, we always get the same thing & I have never been disappointed! Chilli chicken, dumplings & sweet and sour pork with rice.
Cristina
Not going to lie the dumplings and pancakes were good! But what put me off with the whole experience was while I was eating I could see the kitchen, saw one of the cooks grab the knife, with all the rubbish on it and wipe it on the bin and not wash the knife, then another cook grabs the same knife to cut up the meat! Other than that food was good

New flavour is hands down the best joint on dominion road!

If you're after THE BEST order of food money can buy, order:
- cucumber and tofu salad
- crispy fried pork in sweet and sour sauce
- chicken and coriander dumplings
- sizzling tofu

You will thank me!

The service here is variable but there is one awesome chick who really makes the place!

My favorite dumpling place in Auckland! So cheap and soooo yummy! We always order the pork chives and prawn steamed dumplings plus combination fried noodles. In less than 30 dollars we always go home happy and satisfied! Plus the place is clean compared to other chinese restos in dominion. Not to mention their staff are a lot nicer than those from Barilla (sorry bad experience from the rival dumpling place) peace! šŸ˜€

New Flavour was great!
It was after midnight and I had a craving for Chinese that needed to be quenched.
New Flavour is open until around 3am so you can get your late night fix if needed!
I ordered the crispy pork with sweet and sour sauce, the lemon chicken, beef and coriander dumplings and fried garlic beans with mushrooms.
My face = šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜
The crispy pork is worth a visit alone, it's delicious! The sauce is thick and sweet, the pork is fresh, hot and crispy. The dumplings come in a large serving (the photo below only shows half) and steamed, they're juicy and hot. The beans were a great accompaniment, being tart and fresh enough to cleanse the palate between dishes, and I love garlic you can see! My only critique would be that the tea was a bit weak and needed a strainer to stop excess leaf overflow into the cups when being poured. Overall, from the dishes I chose, New Flavour is a gem hidden away in balmoral.
Definitely worth a try!

New Flavour is everything you want and more. Although it's nice to go to fancy restaurants with fancy service, sometimes you just want dumplings without chirpy waiters asking if you want more water. New Flavour delivers on that. It's the perfect place to bring a couple of friends and just chat about life over dumplings.

As for the food? I've only ever tried the dumplings and the fried noodles, but both are fantastic. My personal favourite is the pork mince and coriander dumplings, which I then smother in the chilli sauce from the table. It's a great sharing plate though, as often one plate of dumplings will leave three of us full and unable to move.

Definitely worth checking out, plus it's super cool who you run into here. Loads of people you'd never expect to see out and about.
Michele
Delicious, cheap and quick. Exactly what you want from Dominion Rd. The cucumber and tofu salad is delicious, as are the dumplings. We always end up ordering too much, which just means delicious lunch the next day.
Cherries_inthesnow
Regretted coming here.

The cold salad dish consisted more sliced onion than actual product. Seasoning was alittle too salty.

Sweet and sour tofu was kinda gloopy and the tofu content questionable.

Noodles were soaked in so much oil, we were choking in it. It was also bizarrely bland.

Dumplings were decent, although again, we had to reseason.

What made the experience worse was the extremely slow service. We were polishing off each dish while waiting for the next. We left feeling very unsatisfied and won't be back.

A friend of mine recommended this place a long time ago and last night we decided to dine here! Usually we eat at spicy house which is only a few restaurants down the road, but tonight we were feeling a little adventurous.

I ordered the chicken with peanut and spicy sauce and my partner ordered the Mongolian spicy chicken?! With a bowl of rice... We also ordered one pancake with spring onion.

The food was surprisingly really good! I enjoyed both dishes, however I swapped my partner for his dish as I found his more enjoyable :p the pancake was really good too! It's basically a roti lol next time I will order 5. The service is below average - but that's what you would expect from a balmoral Asian restaurant

In summary I totally recommend this place! Very tasty.

Finally came here! Based on reviews I expected a slightly better version of barilla, and that's exactly what I got!

The restaurant is super clean and fairly spacious. We arrived around 9.30pm so it was easy to get a seat on the ground level. The service is the bare minimum, but it's all you need/ expect from a place like New Flavour.

We ordered the vegetarian, and pork, prawn, and chive dumplings. One steamed and the other fried. Great value for money. Both were delicious, even the vegetarian surprised me with how tasty it was. (p.s both a lot less oily than barilla). We also got the chicken with chilli and peanuts on noodles which was also very tasty.

If I'm craving dumplings this will be the go to from now on.

I love this place for dumplings and wines with friends! The service here is quite a bit friendlier than Barilla and the food comes out quick and piping hot.
I love love love their dumplings and broccoli. The garlic broccoli is insane I crave it constantly.
Branched out and tried the dried tofu and cucumber salad -really good
Tried to vegetarian fried noodles and the deep fried egg plant - also tasty
They're not the best dumplings I've ever had but for the price, service and BYO that's offered I'm definitely hooked.
Dommonique
Delicious food at a very affordable price. It is also BYO which is an added bonus. The reason for my rating of 3.0 - shit service and it's not the cleanest of places. I recommend the sizzling prawns they are scrumptious.

An old fave.Ā Little bit of confusion when we realised it had moved next door and looked completely different.Ā Since new owners have taken over, apart from dumplings it seems like the portion sizes have halved.Ā Went in for takeaway couple of nights ago.Ā Dumplings were good as usual.Ā Deep fried chicken strips with cumin: soggy, limp, barely any in the box, and felt like I had cracked a tooth on something- discovered 2 little bits of something that were like gravel/concrete- maybe something from one of the pans?Ā Ouch anyway.Ā Not stoked, and this is probably against my better judgement but will likely go back for dumplings.

New flavor Recently got a make over and I'm glad it did. A little more spacious now and we don't have to cram so much like before. The food is still the pretty much the same as before however. To be honest the dumplings aren't as nice as the one from Barilla, I find the pastry to be a bit thick and they always seem to get really watery inside. However the rest of the dishes are delicious especially the tofu and the sweet and sour crispy chicken.

The service is alright, typical dominion road sort of thing a Don't expect to have an explanation for the food or for them to bring out all your cutlery/crockery without@ asking. They're there to take care of as many customers as they can I guess, not to give you a 5 star service.

This place is incredible.Ā Recently refurbished and always packed, I can easily say this is the best Dominion Road has to offer. The dumplings are delicious and at a cheaper price point than Barilla. This place is the dark horse of Auckland for a cheap shared meal and did I mention it is BYO?Ā The must-try dishes include and not limited to: Sliced tofu and cucumber, coriander and chicken dumplings (fried of course), spring onion pancake and lets not forget the cumin and chilli squid! Nom nom nom. The service is always fastĀ and the meals are served as they come even if it's totally pack there is not much of a wait. Highly reccomend to entertaining friends/ out of towers or when you can't be bothered to cook.
