Review Windsor Castle - Auckland Central

As tourists, this was a wonderful experience and one of the best pubs my wife and I found in Auckland. Great drinks and fantastic service - the staff were helpful, friendly and (gasp) cheerful! We felt warmly welcomed! A lovely, cozy place where guests are family. Didn't eat there so can't speak to the food thus only 4 stars.

Good selection of drinks and friendly staff. Atmosphere was a little flat at the time we visited and no noticeable x factor at the place hence the 4 stars. Cool private room downstairs for functions/dinners if you are looking for a venue.

Stopped in with my mates for a couple jugs. Speights was ice cold and staff were polite and fast. We stopped in on quiz night and it was a blast! We had a great time. Was kinda bummed out that literally 30 seconds after quiz night ended, everyone left. Still a cool spot though.

You'll definitely get more than 'just' pub grub! Gourmet food, great atmosphere! Fantastic music and super friendly staff.

Pretty good bar, a popular hangout for work mates on a Friday. Decent pub food too

Great place for been and food, the food is good, especially considering it’s a pub, the outside area is fun too

A bit dated looking, but lots of TV's and space outside. No pool table, but good for a pint.

Great pub food, friendly service

We’ve been coming to the Windsor castle regularly for over a year now. Not once have I been disappointed with the food or the quality of service.

The staff is always very friendly and attentive, the meals are well portioned and always on point, especially their steaks. I can highly recommend coming on Tuesdays as you’ll get two mains for $30 which is great value.

The atmosphere is very laid back and homely, so we always love coming back!

Been here twice now, the first time. E was through a voucher in the entertainment book a friend had. We had the diy fajitas which was great. The second time I went out with workmates and the best thing on the bar food menu is the cauliflower bites. I was totally skeptical at first but man oh man you will NOT regret getting that item.

They have awesome live music and I love the fact that they keep it classy and not like a dive bar which would suck.

Drinks: I got the Falling Water on the 42 below menu and it was great

I've been here quite a few times now with different people and this hidden gem is tucked away in the heart of Parnell, ensconced in a charming colonial building on the main street.

On the Fridays that I've visited they've had a great live band playing. My recommendation for bar food or if you're dining in, is their cheesy cauliflower bites... It was out of this world. The portion size is average as far as bar food goes, but it is well worth it.

The nachos were... Well nachos, and so it met my expectations which weren't very high to begin with, but they used to offer DIY fajitas which were good and I didn't see that on the menu the second time.

To drink, my fave was the falling water one from the 42 below menu.

The food is good but the drinks and service is brilliant. Would go back any time simply because I like how we were treated.

Awesome place, awesome service. The blonde british female manager treats the regulars very well! Love coming here for a few beers after work on Friday and on Tuesday for their 2 mains for $30 deal.

The working lunch special ($20 for main and a house drink) is great to drop in and grab something easy and delicious. The staff are super chatty and friendly and always make us feel welcome.

Also a great place for some after work drinks - the cabanas out back are the best no matter the season (those heaters are perfect).

The Windsor Castle has been the heart and soul of Parnell for 169 years. Established in 1847, the Windsor is one of the oldest establishments in the country, and has undergone extensive renovations to restore it to its former glory. Today, the local has been well and truly resurrected. And thanks to the forward thinking management I came here on a Grab One voucher and gorged on the Salt and Pepper squid and a cold one or two back in November 2010. Nice atmosphere and good food.

I just wanted to thank you all for a lovely night we had at the end of March. We were encouraged to try new things and I tried a lovely melon liqueur and my partner tried a drink called coralaho or something and we were most impressed with them. We are now going to look for these drinks when we go out and feel quite cosmopolitan in our new drinking habits. A great night and thank you very much.

Went Tuesday 9th February with my mum & dad. I ordered the beef burger & so did my dad and mum had a bowel of chips. The burger bun definitely wasn't fresh, the beef patte was small & thin and there was far too much cheese. I couldn't finish neither could my dad and unfortunately we both got upset stomachs from it. My mum felt the chips were ok but portion size wasn't value for money

Went there last Thursday for the steak special at 8:40pm and I was disappointed that the kitchen closed it was until 9 but wouldn't take my order for the steak;((( not a good customer services

Went there for work lunch with colleagues. The service was awesome. The food was good. I ordered chicken tenders. A great local to have work lunch or catch a game on screen.

Enjoyed a quiet dinner here, lovely atmosphere with great staff that are friendly and always willing to ensure your meal is as good as possible. The food was quick to get to our table and definitely hit the spot. Each dish was full of flavour and everything complemented each other wonderfully. The chicken was succulent (whenever I order chicken I always dread that it's going to be dry and stringy) but I was blown away with how soft and supple both chicken dishes were.

Such a wide variety of food that will satisfy everyone's taste buds :)

Popular place in Parnell for few drinks. Used to be a regular here for drinks and pizza. Yes the wood fired pizza is really good.
After couple of years I was here for breakfast and to watch all blacks in action. The breakfast options were simple and basic. The coffee wasn't a barista made one. But yeah after the RWC no one will be coming for a breakfast.
As always I went for bagel and salmon. Nothing special. Was bit expensive too.
Will come back for few drinks but not for breakfast again.

My husband and I ate here recently and were very happy with the outcome. We visited on a Thursday night where they offer generous portions of wagyu rump steak for $20. The steak was cooked perfectly, very surprising given that you would think of this place as offering mediocre food. We ended up staying on a little later as the musician they had playing was just so brilliant and added to the perfect ambience of the night. Staff were friendly and engaging without being too over the top. Would highly recommend for a casual night out with a loved one or would be equally great with a group of friends.

Good pub grub and yummy food. The lamb salad is very yummy with a cider in the courtyard out the back. Not amazing but a good option for a pub meal in Parnell.

Very poor service. Visited for some birthday drinks, but the 2 x bartenders were more interested in chatting to their friend than serving anybody. I waited at length without service before just giving up. Later they were also rude to my partner. Took my group and left.

For a pub - this place does pretty good food. The pizzas (wood fired) are generous and very tasty. They use good quality ingredients e.g: proper mozzarella and portabello mushrooms. The staff are great with kids and bring over colouring in materials as soon as you are seated. The kids meals are excellent value for money and we enjoy coming here for Sunday lunches on a rainy day. The music is sometimes a bit loud but the staff will turn it down if you ask. We have been here a few times over the past few months and have left full and smiling. THE FOOD SCRIBBLER

We went on a Sunday afternoon with a voucher, the food was good, the service was flawless.Fab live band, great atmosphere and lovely beer.

Great place for casual dining.

We will definitly come again.

This has been our 'local' for a number of years, and it really has the feeling of your local. Everyone recognises us when we walk in and are super friendly. Pizzas are great. But one think I really wanted to acknowledge about this place is their knowledge of the menu - being pregnant I needed to know what was in the dishes - and they were extremely knowledgeable, down to the raw eggs used in their fresh aoili. Super impressed!!! Wish every place was aware of what pregnant women can and cannot eat, they were so helpful. And they regular fill up your water glasses - great display of responsible hosting!

We had a fantastic night out here in July. We ate out on a voucher and the food was great, service helpful and friendly and amazing atmosphere. We went on a Monday night and enjoyed the live jazz. Highly recommended!

First time here, gnrly tend not to travel far over the Harbor bridge, but it was a special mate's B.day & oh so worth the visit! Possibly one of THE Best Service by Staff in Auckland :) Beautiful garlic pizza bread & crispy batter fries served with the right amount of aloi. Platters, empty glasses, cleared promptly from table. Only request, please consider Bigger large screen TV for the Games, mounted near the bar rather then where the LIVE Band plays. G8 music BTW :) Oh & do watch drinks charges. Charged $9.50 for Lemon/Lime/Bitters for a sober driver. While as a pint cost $2.00 for the first try of the Game! hmm...something not quite right

This is our local in Parnell and must say I've never left there unhappy! Service is friendly, relaxed and unpretentious! :) Food is what I enjoy the most! I've had different main every time and it's always been perfect!

Almost dropped one star as the coffee after a Saturday lunch two weeks ago tasted burned and smoky.. I was so full and happy with the delicious meal and lovely service though that I never ended up saying anything about the coffee, which was my bad.. I think it still deserves all the five stars!!

Dined here on Tuesday night 2 mains for $30. Staff were friendly and helpful. Started with garlic pizza bread which was tasty. Mains took a while to arrive but were worth the wait. We were impressed by the presentation and taste. Both mains were well cooked. I ordered the Moroccan lamb, hich was full of flavour. Chunks of meat were a bit too big for my liking but was cooked perfectly. My partner ordered scotch fillet which was ordered blue. It was cooked to his liking. Ambience was enjoyable, toilets were clean and well presented. Total bill came to $42 for 2 people, which was excellent value for what we got. Will be back again :)

Quite lovely place. I've been here several times. Last time we came with vouchers.Despite that food was very good, unlike some other places. We (there were 5 of us) all tried different mains and all were happy (except may be my friend - snapper was good but too small for him; but I told him to order a steak :)). Stuff was very helpful and prompt.

As a minus I'd pointed out a bit too loud live music, IMHO. But OK, probably 20 years ago it would be not loud enough :)

We hired one of their fantastic Rooms. This is a small room called the Craft Room. We had some special requests in regards to the menu and they accommodated us very well. Going out of their way. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the food is amazing. They also made special drinks as well for us. Overall this place has one of the best service I have experienced in Auckland.

Great Pub Food. The squid is really good. Excellent selection of wines. The staff are friendly and helpful. Music on tap and changes daily. Lots of fun on Quiz night. We are locals and love going to the Windsor

Went last night with a platter and wine voucher, very nice we enjoyed it and the waitress was really great, friendly and efficient. Great pub Grub.

We went on a Saturday evening
We were disappointed to find that we had to eat in the bar. The garlic pizza bread was lovely. The mains arrived a good 15 minutes after being asked if we were ready for them and they were cold. The veggies were dripping in cold oil. The staff were lovely and had the meals re-heated but they were still cold when they came back. We did not eat much of the food. Again the waitress did her best and offered us free desearts or drinks - we had coffees. When we went to pay, the waitress charged us for food we had not ordered saying that she had given us the cheesy garlic bread instead of the regular bread. Pointing out that this was not the case, the barman corrected the bill. Not the best night out that we have had and we wont be going back.

Great pizza for only $10(!!) on Monday nights, yum! Good service and a relaxed atmosphere.

It was a good dining experience. The food was worth the price. Drinks were great. Music was great. Staff was excellent.

A very large bar that always provides the sports/main event on their screens. I often visit this bar to watch the UFC, with easy access to the bar from the seating areas and good foods to keep your mind on the entertainment, I am always happy to come here. Having had a few dinners here as well, I would't say it is anything to rave about, but it isn't bad either.

All in all, a great place to go for an event on television for the good vibes and energy!
