busy place even on sunday. food are more than authentic. they always surprise u when your dish coming. love the coconut or sweet curry flavor duck. never tried dis kind of duck before, and it just blew my mind. lemongrass chicken salad is also suprising. Pho just the basic vietnamese dish which u can figure out the level of authentic.

Authentic Saigon style food. I lived in Saigon for 4 years. This place is as close as it gets to being there. The food was fabulous presented well and tasted even better. This is a family run business. You won't be disappointed.

We have eaten at Viet Kitchen many times, which serves great, authentic Saigon food. The menu has plenty to choose from. The lemongrass chicken Vietnamese Baguette is a yummy delicious starter to share but one can also finish it as a main 😜. Pho is a must have and a dish that never disappoint. The chilli hit and flavoursome herbs are delightful. Relaxing atmosphere and friendly service. Will definitely return again. Thank you.

The place was easy to find and had a ramp for accessibility (I was on crutches at the time). The service we got from our big family was accommodating and helped us be comfortable in our stay. We ordered mainly the dishes on rice so it was easiest to pick what everyone wanted. The pork chops on rice was marinaded well and served up in big portions to match the price. My only concern is that some of the side dishes were too overpriced for the amount you actually get, if that can be looked into I think it would be a great for value! All in all the experience was good and would come back to taste the other meals. Keep it up team! Please review some of the prices on the menu :) remember we are still on dominion road not viaduct hehe.

Very nice clean and cozy place, friendly staff who can give appropriate suggestions. Food didn’t take long and was delicious, mild but with hot sauce on side. Will definitely come back here if we are around.

Authentic French Vietnamese experience ! Stunning taste , great range of menu options , lovely cocktails. Limited vegan options ..Papaya salad is excellent. Plenty of seating inside and outside.

Really Tasty food, went back to Vietnam for a moment. I had a spicy soup and banh mi... So tasty. Our meals were all vegetarian so cool! Service was warm and amazing. Will come back again

Great cheap eats/ authentic Vietnamese. My favourite dish is pho. They have mix of both brisket and raw beef. The broth is thick and flavoursome. The staff are very friendly too. They take orders for takeaway and wait time is usually 10-15min.

Spacious and well decorated venue. Saigon Caramelized Pork Belly with egg was delicious and tender. Banh mi was quite good - needed a bit more pickled carrot, but the bread was freshly baked and perfect, and the lemongrass chicken was very tasty.

Finally popped in with hubby to try their food. 🌟🌟🌟🌟: I ordered Spicy Beef Noodle (Bun Bo Hue) The broth was full of flavour, best I’ve tasted in Auckland so far. Every time have Vietnamese food I never venture outside my phó, so this dish I would personally highly recommend. Just right amount of spiciness which I loved. Friendly and attentive staff Nice simple clean decor inside Good sized dish/bowl Viet Namese coffee ☕️- I liked but couldn’t justify the price of $8.90 🌟🌟: Hubby ordered Claypot Seafood fried rice with Prawn and squid. He was looking forward to the flavour of charcoal claypot like he had in VN but was let down. Fried rice lacked flavour (not cooked in clay pot) his prawns were shrimps and veges were from the frozen packet 🌟🌟: Ordered Banh Xeo for takeaway for my mum, disappointed to find three shrimps in the dish ✨ Staff were friendly and attentive. We provided feedback about the Claypot fried Rice and they were apologetic, explained how council did not allow them to cook fried rice in Claypot due to hygiene reasons. Restaurant decor was refreshing and clean, great atmosphere. Will be back to try other dishes on the menu

I love this place! Food is delicious and it's one of the best Vietnamese places around. Unlike some places that are Chinese run and don't seem to have the flavours right... this place is run by a Vietnamese family. Spacious seating area, service is good. Partner and I have converted some people to this place. Wheel chair accessible, average spend person is around $20-25.

This place is one of the most authentic Vietnamese restaurants I have been to in Auckland. The food is simple, but very tasty. The 'bun bo hue' is the best one I've had so far.
Dean Ching Yee
Good vietnamese cuisine restaurant. Staff was quite friendly and very attentive. Beef pho broth was tasty and authentic. Enjoyed the spring rolls too.

Great food and service. We had the beef salad and shaking beef. I would highly recommend both. Also the Vietnamese coffee is incredible!

Some of the best Vietnamese food I’ve had in Auckland. Loved the bun cha, beef pho and banh xeo.

Nice and clean place with good ambience. The menu is well crafted. My favorite Vietnamese chicken noodles very good here - just what you need in a rainy day :)

We had a Banh Mis from here the other night<br/>They were delicious and well priced<br/>Very good service<br/>Shall go back

Sadly this place did not help my search for the ultimate pho, serving size large, plenty of herbs, but the broth was lacking any depth of flavour, so sadly won't be hurrying back, the hunt continues, one day I may find the ultimate pho.
Chris L
Except that the owner/man is not that friendly I like the place a lot because nice food
Jasmine Luei
Food ordered was way too overpriced for three tiny piece of spring rolls, ordered mains and prices of the portions were very unfair!! In all, very expensive and food wasn’t all that great either. Not worth the price.<br/>
Bella Qian
Awesome Vietnamese place with a little fusion influence. Loved how friendly the staff was and the fresh ingredients. If you like Vietnamese food this place is a must try. Prices are reasonable and the place is chill.
Persian Foodie
Love the hint of lemongrass and the flavors of the beef curry. The pho was also really tasty with pleasant fragrances. Love love love this place

My favorite will be the vietnamese ice coffee. It is so good. I love the ambiance of this place. The deco just gets better over the years.<br/><br/>The food is good. Love the bbq duck and summer roll.<br/><br/>Great for groups.
Shannon
Top score for their effort in making a great vegetarian option of their beef pho! Usually the vegetarian version of things lacks thought and flavour but not in this case. It looked amazing with loads of vegetables and really good tofu. Will definitely be back!

A casual Vietnamese restaurant on Dominion Road. The place is clean with a relaxing ambience.<br/><br/>Ordered the chicken pho with vermicelli and beef pho. Both were decently portion. <br/><br/>The soup tasted very delicious with a fresh and rich meat broth. However the meat were overcooked, especially the chicken, which also tasted bland. Some of the pho noodles were under cooked, some were alright, seems like they combined 2 different batches of noodles together. The vermicelli was well flavored.<br/><br/>Taste: 7/10<br/>Presentation: 6.5/10<br/>Service: 8.5/10<br/>Ambience: 7.5/10<br/>Value for money: 7.5/10<br/><br/>Price $18 per person

This place came highly recommended by a mate so I have to give it a go. Nice ambience and very clean. We ordered the Saigon style beef noodle soup and deep fried spring rolls to start. First word that came to mind when i had my first spoonful of soup was Herbalicious. Compared to your other Vietnamese chain restaurants, you can really taste the authenticity of this dish. The dark broth was hearty and warm with aniseedy goodness, plenty of herbs and beef slices and the silky, melt in your mouth pho. Spring rolls are just spring rolls but these babies were were something else. Pastry was super flakey and crisp. Everything here was made from scratch, no shortcuts. We started to wonder why the food was taking awhile then realised good food takes time. Worth every minute.Service was great too, none of that help- yourself -to-the-pile-of-chopsticks-taking-too-much-space-on-my-table kinda service. Love it when my belly is warm and satisfied on a cold winter night. 5/5

My friends and I came here for dinner and the whole shop smelt amazing of broth! We ordered the fresh spring rolls, spring rolls, a spicy beef noodle soup, lemongrass chicken on rice and also on vermicelli. The fresh springs were very fresh, however the fried ones only came with one lettuce wrap, how do we eat it with three. <br/><br/>The noodle soup was good though and all dishes were nicely presented. Viet Kitchen has good portions.

Fried Spring rolls are yummy! highly recommend.<br/>Staffs here are nice and friendly. The price is reasonable and the food tastes good. Will come back next time.

Delicious! We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at VietKitchen today. Hubby had the seafood clay pot fried rice & said it was tasty, flavoursome & satisfied his fried rice cravings. I had the pure beef noodle soup (pho) & it really hit the spot with me! Lots of chopped coriander on top but I actually really liked the crunchy pops of coriander flavor as I drank the soup. The rice noodles in the soup were perfectly soft & chewy, just the way I like it! The soup itself was tasty & heartwarming. We will definitely be back!
Queena
Ordered the Roast BBQ Duck with rice noodles and some Summer Rolls. The summer rolls were nicer and were worth more your money than the Fried Spring Rolls which were tiny and only had 3 small pieces. The rice noodles here are cooked to perfection! The soup base was nice - the taste was quite faint but somewhat just enough to not be overpowering or tasteless. <br/><br/>However! The star of the dish was also the disappointment of the dish - the roast duck. The duck itself was well cooked - crispy skin and the meat was tender. The question I have for this duck is, why wasn't it cut properly? It came out separately on another plate and were already cut but not into separate pieces... Like why? Not only was it difficult to cut with a plain butter knife that they provided but I wouldn't consider this a 'roast duck noodle soup' if the duck came separately AND you literally had to eat the duck separately cos you couldn't cut it properly with all the bones and all in the way, to put into your noodle soup. I may as well of ordered a simple beef pho or something. It was too messy and definitely not worth $14.90 for that.

Great place to eat ! Super yummy food pricing is pretty good, staff are lovely must try the beef salad and the Vietnamese coffee. Highly recommend

We had the bahn xeo and the spicy beef soup (made vegetarian). We’ve had bahn xeo before but this one was our favourite. The pancake was crisp, oily, and delectable. The vegetarian spicy soup was surprisingly savoury, rich and full-bodied. We also had drinks - salty lemon and coconut pineapple juice - which for the price I did not find worth it. Overall, I look forward to trying out the other dishes!

I've been here a few times now and have always loved the food. Went last night as a group of 9 and everyone's meals were delicious, arrived quickly and at the same time, and the service and atmosphere were also great. Thanks VietKitchen!
Lizzie
Had the bun with just spring rolls. It was a good portion but the spring rolls were quite skinny and just seemed to be pork with nothing else in them. There was good flavour but just wasn’t amazing.
Jsmi
Ordered the stuffed squid after seeing amazing google images of the same dish. I was super disappointed to only receive about 6 tiny slices of squid. The rest was salad. Not worth the $$. It was also equally as spicy as my friend’s dish but his was labeled spicy and mine wasn’t. The staff also did some weird racial profiling; he’s asian and I’m white and he got chopsticks and I didn’t. There was nothing about my dish that required a knife - chopsticks would’ve worked fine. Super weird, just give customers both options regardless of race.

Very friendly staff. I really didn't enjoy what I ordered and wished I had ordered the dish my girlfriend got. Portion size was okay. Might go again

I ordered a chicken noodle salad yesterday as takeaway and it was delicious but there wasn't enough sauce, so when I went there again today I asked for more sauce. The young guy there was so rude and he decided to half fill the same container I had yesterday instead of filling it up. When I asked him, he told me rudely that I was wrong and the container was smaller. but decided to charge me an $2 for the containers (2 half filled ones). Will never go back, even though the food wasn't bad.

Mixed review ~<br/>🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 : I ordered Spicy Beef Noodles (Bun Bo Hue) which I thoroughly enjoyed as it’s the best I’ve tasted in Auckland so far! Absolutely spectacular, authentic South Vietnamese Food. The grilled pork Bun cold rice vermicelli was smokey, savoury and so satisfying, the New Yorker loved every bite, The fried chicken wings were in the most delicious sweet and spicy sauce with such depth of flavour I was sad when it was finished. And then there was the Goi salad, lemongrass this time and oh my! Properly dressed with a fresh zingy dressing and roasted peanuts with LOADS of chicken, every little scrap was chased down with chopsticks and devoured. Also very reasonable pricing. Now our favourite restaurant in Auckland.

Although I’m a staff here I still want to write an objective comment about Vietkitchen. To be honest, I have many staff meals but I still want to eat at Vietkitchen every time I think of my home country food. As a Vietnamese, I really love the authentic flavour of every single dish here. The food is not westernized and do pretty good job in presenting southern cuisine of Vietnam. I always introduce and invite my international friends to Vietkitchen for tasty and authentic phở. Bún bò huế here is a significant dish and a must-try meal if you are a fan of spicy food. They not only serve good single dish but also do great job in family sharing meal (photos are attached)

Been here a few times and still love the friendly service and delicious food. You can't go wrong with any of the dishes. Worth a visit or two or three.

Amazing lunch.... two days in a row. Papaya salad with the beef on top, the new chicken kebabs, chicken summer rolls .... all fantastic quality.
Jon Turner
Soups were ok , very little protein (3 cubes of tofu , very little beef in the pho.) Roast duck was also ok but small portion and very little meat.<br/>There are far better vietnamese options around.
Dxlche
I ordered the spicy beef noodles, not too sure what my fiancée ordered. The beef noodles come with a spicy sauce in a dish that you can add separately according to your taste. If you put it all in the soup does get pretty spicy especially if you swallow a piece of chilli.<br/>The beef flavour is pretty strong. So do not advise for people who do not really like the smell of beef.

Got the Pho and the summer rolls. Pho was tasty but wished they gave us bean sprouts instead of cabbage. Summer roles were average. Staff are very friendly

Sit a side along end of Dominion Rd<br/>This is pretty good spot for some fresh/healthy vietnamese in the middle of mainly chinese restaurants<br/>HUE noodle is ok, a bit tooooo much cinnamon and staranise<br/>Spring roll is one of the smallest i ever seen<br/>Well, not a bad go but not very excellent <br/>

I had the pho ga (chicken pho) and the broth tasted very fresh and light. I like the fact that I could see real herbs in the soup, indicating that they made the soup from the first principles and not from some instant powder. The only criticism I have was that they used chicken breast and because the chunks were pretty big, the texture was pretty dry and unpleasant. Would be better if they shred the chicken breast into thinner pieces to improve the texture. Other than that, I really enjoyed my dish and I finished the whole bowl of soup. I also like the fact that the serving here is not enormous, it was just nice if not bigger than what you'd get in Vietnam. That could be because they use authentic ingredients so I'd rather than quality than quantity.<br/><br/>My husband got the spicy beef noodle soup (bun bo hue) and he really enjoyed it. The soup was a tad oily for my liking but he was perfectly fine with that.<br/><br/>Each noodle dish was about $15 but I'd definitely go back again despite its slightly pricier menu compared to Try It Out or Samwoo. I feel that Viet Kitchen serves higher quality pho and it's definitely worth paying that few bucks more. The lady who served us was also very helpful and smiley :)

This is one of my family's favourite restaurants in Auckland. We are regulars here for their pho and Bun (cold salad/rice noodle dish). Best pho we've found in auckland.

Always understanding food and lovely owners. Best Pho around, amazing broth.  Our kid's favourtite restuarant too. Food to make you happy. They make their own iced peach tea too!

Delicious! We’ve just recently moved very close to this Vietnamese joint and decided to swing by for dinner. We ordered the beef pho, chicken summer rolls and the prawn spring rolls. The pho had a tasty clean broth packed with flavour, chicken rolls were fresh and was pleasantly surprised by the prawn spring rolls! YUM. I don’t order deep fried food often so this was nice... a bit small in size but the flavour was gorgeous.

I always like Vietnamese food, so we tried out VietKitchen on Dominion Road. We had the spring rolls - the original ones; I had the special noodles (with prawn, squid, pork organs, celery & chives) & my wife had the pork belly with eggs - it came with one egg.  The spring rolls were a bit disappointing - very small & thin; no lettuce for wrapping. The meat in my noodles was bland; the soup was nice. The pork belly was excellent.<br/>(Food - 3.5/5; Service - 3.5/5; Ambience - 3.5/5)<br/>Visited on 26 August 2018

I had the beef Pho on my lunch brake around 1pm was delicious! Quick, polite service. Exactly how I like it. Good value for money. Will return 😊

Woke up today with a familiar hunger that only a good bowl of pho can satisfy. So I decided to goto Vietkitchen I’ve driven past so many times.<br/><br/>This place has simple decor but flavours that pack a punch. <br/>The pho was authentic and made from real beef bone broth. You can tell the difference between this and hansan pho. You only get the rich flavours from real bone broth. One of the best pho in Auckland for sure.<br/><br/>The pork belly was very flavourful and tender. Not oily. The deep fried boiled egg was the perfect compliment.<br/>I strongly recommend to get the Vietnamese coffee here. Authentic drip coffee. Delicious!<br/><br/>Portions could be a bit bigger. I ate 2 mains (pho and pork belly with rice), to get full. But I was starving.<br/><br/>Food: 5/5<br/>Portion 3/5<br/>Setting 4/5<br/>Service 5/5<br/><br/>Would definitely come back to try other dishes.

The food here is consistently great! The spring rolls and beef pho are my favourite, so much flavour and great reasonable prices. The chicken curry is also a must try! The only thing is the drinks are a little pricy - but the food is cheap and beautiful.

Have been here once for dinner, it was super yum and the staff were lovely. I really appreciated the suggestion of lotus tea. Got takeaways only a week later because it was so good! They were very accomodating even though we had ordered so close to closing. The staff are all really friendly!
Bodhi Hegan
Been going here since they first opened and now this place is our go-to for fast and delicious food at a great price. The banh mi is a total gem and the hot and spicy beef noodle soup is great for sharing! They can also make a good selection of their meat dishes to suit vegetarians.<br/>Oh and the staff there are all lovely. I'm actually on my way to pick up some take out right now!

I have always loved Vietnamese cuisine and this place delivered. I ordered beef spicy noodles soup (Bûn Bô Hué) it was soooooo delicious, the perfect soup for a cold winter's day. The service was great, the place is cozy and I can't wait to come back for more.
Margot Carey
extremely disappointing  summer rolls ok chicken lemon grass entree mediocre  main of tiger prawns swimming and i mean swimming in oil took lovely large prawns from bowl and drained them on  napkins So SAD

Had lunch here at the weekend and found it disappointing as its always busy. The staff are really friendly but other than that we didn't like the food. I had a pork skewers which was OK a bit grisly but tasted good with some salad and hot noodles. And himself had the stuffed squid which was OK but the squid was too chewy to enjoy. And I had a filer coffee, and had to forgo the milk due to allergies and it was very burnt/bitter . Maybe we got unlucky with the food choices
Rachel Liew
Nice setting and friendly service. Food was served quickly and taste good too. Their menu has been expanded dramatically since perhaps last year, more choices, especially more expensive choices. Nonetheless it's in handy location and reasonably priced. We'd come back.
Penelope Johnston
Great food and service. Food tasted genuine and delicious with value for money. Some great Vietnamese food in Auckland. Clean restaurant and food arrived quickly.

Great ambiance. Tasty food. Good portions. Reasonable price. Friendly service. Been here 2x and will definitely come back. Will recommend to friends and i’m sure they will enjoy it.

Headed to this restaurant for lunch with family. Lovely ambience, friendly and courteous staff. This is the very first time I was trying Vietnamese cuisine. We ordered stuffed squid, BBQ duck with rice, BBQ duck with egg noodles, stir fried squid, clay pot sea food fried rice and Bo kho beef casserole along with their homemade strawberry lemonade ( recommended by the waitress). The food was delicious, esp the BBQ duck was roast to perfection. Enough portions of food served here, and the service was too good. The strawberry lemonade was the delicious and all thanks to the waitress for recommending it. My first experience with Viet food didn't disappoint me at all. Enjoyed the lunch. Definitely recommend this place.<br/><br/>Add: the beef casserole is too good, full of flavor and leaves you wanting for more.
Chau Chau
My favorite restaurant. I always come here with my friends every week. However I think for the soups, they need more noodles and vegetables.

The main point I want to make is the place is overpriced. Here's our dining experience:<br/>Knowing the place has over 4 stars on zomato, me and my partner went there for an early dinner on a Sunday.<br/>the place is neat and spacious.<br/>food tasted average: the chicken springrolls didn't have much in them except for a long strip of chicken meat. it lacks the interesting flavour brought by the combination of different ingredients that a springroll commonly has. did I mention it was an upsell?<br/>we also ordered a grilled fish which was way too spicy.<br/>also the tiger prawn noodle soup which tasted the best comparing to other dishes, but the portion was small, at almost $20 there's only 1 prawn in it.<br/>plus 2 drinks (one of them is the lemon tea which the waitress lady highly recommended/ upsold, turned out to be just average) our bill was over $70, which I think is too much considering the portion and the costs of ingredients used. me and my partner weren't hungry when we went in so imagine if we were then we need at least a couple more dishes, and the bill will be well over $100.<br/>in my opinion there are way better vietnamese restaurants around that cost you a lot less! this place is a ripoff and we are not recommending it.
Nate Tracey
The soup had a strong aniseed taste too much was used to create the broth if it was cooked longer it would be much better. Spring rolls were small and lacking in flavour which was quite disappointing. Customer service was there but needs more work.<br/><br/>
Christopher Pearce
The food here is some of the best Vietnamese I've had. We had the fried spring rolls and summer rolls for starters (all delicious) and finished off with the Sai Gon caramelised pork belly. If you're ordering it, prepare for a flavour hit - it's the most flavoursome and delicious meal I've had in weeks. Fortunately it's a BYO too!
Katie Zou
Spicy beef pho needs more noodles 😓 and comes with just a few pieces of meat. Other viet restaurants can offer you a much larger portion of noodles and meat for the same price.
Tony Wan
A few of us came here for lunch recently.  It was a reasonably large <br/>restaurant.  It was spacious.  The place was pleasantly decorated.<br/>The service was good and customer focus.  The food was good and<br/>tasty.  The serving was quite large.<br/><br/>There was a good selection of dishes and we will definitely come again.

Absolutely amazing Bahn Mi. Filled with delicious chicken and amazing pickled veggies. Pho is a huge portion, and so comforting. MUST try their peach iced tea - it is to die for. I will be coming back many times.
Jazz Dos Santos
The food and service was so good! The ambiance was lovely, and the food came out very quickly. I had the beef pho and summer spring rolls. Very delightful. Everyone at our table enjoyed :)
Bobby Anderson
We were excited to try this place after recently coming back from a holiday in Vietnam. The food were all very tasty. We had the pork belly which was packed with flavour. The bahn mi had a good amount of filling but lacked the flavour of pate. Would happily come back to try their other dishes

Delicious food! The new duck green curry was a favourite, along with the summer rolls. We were all pleased with our choices.<br/><br/>Very friendly and accommodating staff for a last-minute group. Thanks!

We loved the food on our recent trip to Vietnam and so we're delighted to find such an authentic Vietnamese restaurant in our neighbourhood, and run by such a lovely family.  Our favourites are the Pho Bo, summer rolls, Prawn skewers, Vietnamese pancake, Beef Casserole (Bo Kho) and the lemongrass chicken dishes are great too.  They have a reasonable wine selection, but there's a liquor store just next door if you want something specific they don't have.
김새롬
Had summer spring, a Beef rice noodle and a spicy beef noodle. The food taste is pretty good, it is delicious than other existing Viet restaurants. But the service is way too slow. Tap water was served 15mins after order. The appetizer, summer spring, came after the meal.

Love this place. Amazing food. Always happy with It never disappointed. The food is fresh with gorgeous flavours and the prices are so reasonable. Really friendly stuff. Nice quiet atmosphere. Best for causal intimate dinners
Dodo8910
Very over priced. BAD communication skill- I never wanted/ordered coriander.  The waitress took wrong order and blamed us. We had to pay all including the wrong dish and they only gave us 5% discount (only $1).  Horrible experience.
Purplebutterfly43
The environment is good. Service is good. The good is good. It is slightly on the expensive side. We are not big eaters. We ordered one main each and a entree to share. But we were still feeling not that satisfied/full after that. We paid about $20 per person. In the afternoon after the meal, we drunk a lot of water. Either it was too salty or msg.

This is Vietnamese Gem hidden in Dominion Road!<br/><br/>I was recommended by a friend to this restaurant. I am very surprised how good and fresh the food is compared to other vietnamese restaurant i had in the past This is my first time eating rice paper roll with mint herb inside!, I my taste buds revolutionised by this!, It adds unqiue fresh flavour to it! Cold rice vermicelli portion is just amazing! My first ever time left the restaurant feeling full as a full grown man! <br/><br/>I will definitely be coming back to this Gem soon!,

Came here at approximately 1:30pm on a Sunday; we were the only diners there! <br/><br/>The bamboo-themed decor was very authentic and cool! We got the Beef Salad, Sai Gon Caramelised Pork Belly, and Chicken Curry. <br/><br/>This was probably one of the best meals I’ve had in awhile! The Beef Salad was amazing; the aroma of it was enough to have me sold. The prawn crackers added the texture, which you can pile the beef and sautéed onions and vegetables on; what a delight! Nicely presented too! <br/>Caramelised Pork Belly was reeeeeally good, so hot it burnt my tongue but I couldn’t wait any longer to taste it! The meat melted in the mouth and that sauce—faultless. It comes with a separate plate with rice and vegetable salad; which I found myself pouring the sauce over the rice and it was absolutely heavenly. <br/>The chicken curry WHAT A MUST!!! Boiled chicken pieces tender and fell off the bone; the curry was creamy yet light with subtle flavours and worked so well with the fluffy jasmine rice! The pickled carrots and radish on the side were good too! Very refreshing! <br/>We scraped everything clean between just two of us, it was that good!<br/><br/>Overall I would definitely be back in the future! The bill came to $49.80, which I thought was absolutely bang for your buck for the food you get! <br/><br/>Food: 10/10<br/>Price: 10/10<br/>Ambience: 9/10 (could do with a bit more air con)<br/>Service: 9/10

Very minimalistic choices of food if you like it. Took family visiting Auckland for a dinner, and they didn't love it except rose tea. Ordered fried spring rolls, roast bbq chicken with egg noodle, lemon grass chicken with rice and special rice. Wasn't told the noodles was a soup, that went horribly wrong. Rice choices were dry. By just seeing our faces, the waitress quickly approached to enquire why. When told it was dry they offered soy sauce and it did not help much. Although the food is just average, service was awesome. Very attentive and friendly. Nicely decorated.
Amy Ching
Yummy clay pot seafood fried rice. Bit oily at the bottom but all goods!! Its flavoursome but not too overpowering. Service was good as well.
Lizzie Faumuina
The menu on here is out dated, will try to remember next time to take photo of most updated menu. Family run business nice friendly people occasionally a bit unaware of checking in on diners and may need to wave to them or call out, if you're ok with doing that then you'll be able to make it an enjoyable experience. And if your not in a rush you can have a relaxed dinner, they don't make you feel rushed out the door. They are genuinely try their best and are accomodating and apologetic if anything is incorrect. Not always their fault i.e customers ordering takeaway off this old Zomato menu and realising on pick up it wasn't the dish you were expecting, which they realise you've ordered from the outdated Zomato menu and then go out of their way to make what you want.
Emma Yang
It was my first time at Viet Kitchen, I am a big Pho fan so was keen to see their take on the traditional dish. The food was yum and portion size was generous. I was disappointed they didn't have the beef ball option which is my favourite. The service was great, they were attentive and made us feel very welcome and looked after. The menu was very extensive. Definitely keen to come back and try the rest of menu.
Lucy
Pretty average. Portions were small, three small spring rolls for $7.50 and a little awkward to share between an even number of people. We also got the lemon grass chicken skewers which had a good taste but again, smaller than we'd hoped. Ordered the roast duck with flat rice noodles and expected a fried noodle dish. Half a duck was given on a plate with noodles in broth on the side. Also ordered the bun cao, which had one square of pork/crab patty with two bits of tofu amongst some egg noodles. I think its clear to say that you get what you pay for, though for similarly priced dishes I would rather go further down Dominion road somewhere else.

I would highly recommend Viet Kitchen for your next night out. The decor was beautiful, the staff were super friendly and the food was refreshing but hit the spot.<br/><br/>We started with the summer rolls which were full of lovely prawns and the dipping sauce was a delight. <br/><br/>For mains my partner and I ordered Pho(Beef Saigon Noodle Soup) and Clay Pot. Pho which had tender beef with, lovely noodles and was full of lovely herbs and spices. The Clay Pot was divine and I would highly recommend both meals.<br/><br/>I could not fault the beautiful food, lovely staff and superb decor.

With a trip booked to Vietnam in September we thought we'd give this place a go to get familiar with the food options. The restaurant was decorated with bamboo plants, fairy lights and hanging lanterns which gave us the feeling of being overseas.<br/><br/>Looking at the menu there were plenty of options to choose from. Our waitress recommended the Tofu stir fry with rice which was not on the menu but was popular for a vegetarian option. We also ordered the vegetarian stir fry noodle. We had requested both dishes to have no onion but the first dish arrived with onion. After checking with our waitress she took it back and said it wouldn't take long for a replacement. The Tofu stir fry wasn't what we were expecting and unfortunately also had onion. They were big enough pieces so we just picked them out. The stir fry was missing some sauce to soak up the rice and it didn't have a lot of flavour. It was definitely a cleaner option. The noodle dish was right up our ally and was really tasty. We loved the flavour and sauce in this dish. It was a better portion and we'd happily order this dish again. <br/><br/>Being centrally located it proved to be popular. If they had got our orders correct and were slightly more generous portions this place would be great to try again.

Such a great beef pho that it's become the go to dish for me here. <br/><br/>The portion sizes are incredibly generous and a good seating arrangement for diners with partitions near the window for couples separating from larger groups in the middle of the restaurant.<br/><br/>The staff were really friendly and happy to explain dishes to the unfamiliar. For those with a low spice tolerance, the kitchen can adjust dishes to taste.<br/><br/>Great gem along dominion road.

My husband and I both felt an upset stomach after having dinner there this Thursday. And it is turning to severe stomach pain now!!! Never thought I could been food poisoned by the food in such a high-rated restaurant! Worst experience ever!!
CrazyCatLady_EmmaC
Authentic Vietnamese food, friendly staff and nice setting. Sometimes our order take a while to arrive (25-30 mins) otherwise really recommend if you love Vietnamese food!

Just popped in for lunch. Ordered beef pho, lemongrass chicken and 2 different roll sets.<br/><br/>Firstly, the pho was not great. Although a strong cinnamon flavour was present, it mostly tasted like beef fat. The tiny amount of beef in the dish was very fatty and overcooked. It should be served raw and cooked with the soup. Not authentic. Doesn't come close to the best pho in Auckland at the cinema foodcourt on Queen St at pho viet. Save your money and go there.<br/><br/>The lemongrass chicken wasn't bad, and the chicken seemed more 'normal' than that rubbery stuff you sometimes get. But again Hansan does basically the same thing a lot cheaper and very consistently.<br/><br/>The spring rolls and summer rolls were alright but nothing outstanding... Not a nice crisp fresh package that I would expect.<br/><br/>This being said, it wasn't awful in its own right. I wouldn't come back only because I prefer other places. But it would be okay if you needed something Vietnamese-esque in dominion road.

Great place. Lovely service. The chicken bahnmi is delicious. So too is the chicken salad. The staff are among the friendliest I've been served by in Auckland. I'd recommend everyone to try this place at least once.

I had heard many good things about VietKitchen and they did not disappoint! With a very stylish decor and wide variety of food to choose from, VietKitchen was a lovely dining experience. Their service was top notch with the food getting to our table much quicker than we expected and their beef noodles is one of the best pho I have every tasted!! Will definitely be coming back soon.

Fresh and yummy food. Love the chicken salad and have had it takeaway too. Nice and clean with friendly staff. Family friendly. Would be good for groups too.

Maybe we didn't get the best dishes on the menu but I found everything so tasteless and not authentic. We ordered the prawn rice paper rolls, chicken pho and the beef curry stew with rice. The rice paper rolls didn't taste fresh at all, the rice paper had gone a bit hard and stale. They didn't serve the rolls with nuac cham sauce either. The curry beef stew I ordered was average although the meat was soft it was also very fatty and I personally just didn't like it. Not sure if I'd come back again.

Clean and fresh dining areas with relaxing lanterns, Viet Kitchen provides a refreshing atmosphere for patrons.<br/><br/>I ordered some phos and a banh mi for our group; the pho here has a strong flavour with plenty of broth. The beef aroma was beautifully enhanced with the other herbs and condiments, making a warm and hearty meal.<br/><br/>In terms of the Banh Mi, there was plenty of pork belly slices, pickled cabbage and sprinkles of chili for that extra kick. While the contents of the Banh Mi was a superb combination, the bun was disappointing --dry and stale.<br/><br/>Showstopper: Pho game here is strong. Definitely one of the stronger Vietnamese establishments around.<br/><br/>Overall Grade: B+

Such a well presented establishment, very friendly and helpful staff! The food came out quite quickly, and we were so impressed with the food quality. We had the ham bun, which was a little spicy but well garnished and seasoned, very big serving. Next I had the lemongrass noodle salad and couldn't even finish half! Enjoyed it the next day ;-) best lemongrass chicken I've ever tasted and it was fresh and light, keen to come back for more!

This place serves the best Vietnamese pancake in Auckland! I am totally in love with their pancakes. It comes with thinly sliced pork belly, being incorporated in the pancake. Other places normally uses pork mince cooked with the bean sprouts and stuffed inside the pancake. I love that it comes with a large salad, pickled vegetables and tasty fish sauce. <br/><br/>I love their Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk! One of my favourite things in the world is strong Vietnamese coffees! <br/><br/>They also do decent bhan mi! They are Very generous with their fillings! The extra crispy baguette is stuffed with pork belly, Vietnamese ham, pate, pickled vegetables and fresh coriander. <br/><br/>If you like Vietnamese food, this place is great! Reasonably priced, friendly service and awesome food!

Was heading to another Vietnamese place when realised it was shut on Mondays, so looking around for anything else and spotted Viet Kitchen.  only a small frontage on Dominion Road and driven past many times and not noticed.Went in and was clean and tidy and good service.<br/><br/>Had the Lemon Grass and Pork versions of the Bun Thit Nuong  with some summer rolls and deep fried spring rolls. Was really filling and delicious.  very fresh and chicken was tender and plenty of it.<br/>Will be going back again.<br/><br/>Was good value at 51 dollars for two mains, entrees, and 2 drinks (tea and coke) for 2 people<br/><br/>Staff were friendly and nice clean and tidy decor<br/> EDIT *  we have been back 4 or 5 time now and every time food has been good, and have had bagette, special rice, bun thit nuong,  and summer rolls, but the best of all was the Sai Gon Caramelised Pork belly,  sweet and flavourful,  amazing

Great spot along dominion road. Nice, modern decor, good ambience, and delicious Vietnamese food. Been back a few times already since discovering it last month and everyone I've brought has given it the stamp of approval. Would highly recommend!

I have just been here once . I had a pork dish it was indeed good. Vietnamese food is always great. The staff are friendly. The food price is reasonable and the ambiance is good too. <br/>From the reviews here about this restaurant I would def go back to the restaurant

the service here made my friends and i feel bad, waitress should clear about customers' dishes but not always ask "who order this, who order that"<br/>they even serve the wrong order to us<br/>food was tasted good until my friend found a mosquito in the soup😳<br/>in conclusion, i 'm so disappointed today

Had a lovely dinner here the other night. Service was really good. Super friendly family run business. Restaurant was nice and clean too. We had the chicken bun and the beef stew with baguette. Both were absolutely delish and we finished everything. We also had the deep fried spring rolls and lemongrass chicken skewers to start which were really yummy too. I finished off my meal with a Vietnamese coffee which was such a treat. Black coffee with condensed milk- I definitely recommend having one of these! Will be back for sure :)

Lovely family run business. Friendly service and the food tasty. The peach iced tea is house made and very refreshing. Try the BBQ duck - so yummy!! My favourite restaurant on Dominion Road.

From the looks of the crowd, VietKitchen has lots of usual customers. This family-run restaurant is very well maintained and clean.<br/><br/>Beef pho is not too bad, but their chicken lemongrass salad noodles is delicious!<br/><br/>Food and service is good.<br/><br/>

Cheap and cheerful but not 'cheap feeling'. Clean restaurant. Very flavoursome dishes, lots to choose from. Great value for money. Good for sharing as a group. Will come here again for a casual evening meal. Would highly recommend the chicken curry.

Really enjoyed my experience here. Bright, spacious, clean and lovely service. The designs of the lights are too cute! <br/><br/>Food wise, I love their spicy beef pho. Haven't seen many places that sells this. Was spicy enough for spicy lovers. The lemongrass vermicelli was also yum. Summer rolls were average but can't go without them. <br/><br/>Prices were on the cheap end so would definitely be back!

Good morning Vietnam! I have finally found the most Authentic Vietnamese Auckland has to offer. I can honestly say this little restaurant took me back to the streets of Hanoi & HoChiMin City. I was blown away with all the food we devoured. We started off with the Cha Gio - fried spring rolls then moving on to the Bun Cha- fried pork, rice noodles salad. Then the Pho beef noodle soup and finally the Bahn Mi - lemongrass chicken baguette. Alls the while sipping on a Caphe sua nong - hot coffee with sweetened condensed milk and Caphe suda - ice coffee with sweetened condensed milk. Ahhhhh I actually contemplated booking tickets back to Vietnam at the table, the food was just so amazing! We were served by a husband & wife team including grandma cooking in the kitchen. It was so lovely seeing all the family work together including grandpa looking after the baby. They were all so kind & accommodating. The premises were clean and the decor was Vietnamese inspired. I highly recommend anyone coming here. One of the best!!!! Look forward to coming back very soon!

Solid homestyle Vietnamese food. <br/>The pho is light and fragrant without tasting like its laden with MSG. It comes topped with aromatic Thai basil -not something that comes by easily. Generous portion too. <br/>The interior is clean, with touches of bamboo throughout and service is efficient. <br/>Great place for a casual bite around Eden Quarter.

Meeting friends for dinner we had originally intended to go to Sen, but they were closed. Still in the mood for Vietnamese, VietKitchen was a new place we decided to try.<br/>Open around 4 months now, and replacing a very basic Chinese restaurant, we weren't expecting much, but wow what a pleasant surprise! If they can maintain the standards we saw tonight they'll soon become a new fave amongst many.<br/>The restaurant has had a refit, but is very clean clear & unpretentious. There are a variety of table seatings, and also a slightly separate room which would be ideal for a larger group.<br/>We were warmly greeted by a staff member & provided with menus, this was followed by what I can say is one of the best service experiences I've had in a long time at a 'cheap & cheerful' Asian restaurant. Awesome! I say cheap & cheerful as VietKitchen definitely dishes out delicious dishes but at a very affordable price. <br/>To start with we ordered drinks - they have a decent selection of beers, as well as some delicious teas using rose blossoms etc...within the tea pot & also a special Vietnamese coffee. There is wine available but they had not yet prepared the wine list so I was invited up to the bar to talk through what was on offer. I chose a Rabbit Ranch Pinot.<br/>The food menu had lots of faves as well as some new dishes. Our waiter was again very helpful & knowledgable recommending two new dishes - the prawn starter & shaking beef. He came back later as we were eating genuinely interested to know if we enjoyed our meals. He also talked about the care they had taken to get the cut of meat right for the beef dish - it was melt in the mouth delicious.<br/>For entrees we ordered the prawn dish - 2 large prawns for around $9, beautifully flavoured with a spicy sauce. Also summer rolls - very generous in size. And some chicken skewers - chicken mince shaped onto lemon grass & chargrilled. <br/>Our mains were also delicious - the shaking beef with mushrooms happily added on request; chicken pho - good size & tasty although missing that star anise tang; pork with rice & egg; & the lemongrass chicken which is one of the best I've tried - lovely lemongrass flavour coating, not dry& a very generous portion again for around $13.50.<br/>They had a good range of desserts but we were too full. Water was topped up again after our meals & we felt in no way rushed to leave. The restaurant had filled up by then & the other meals served also looked great.<br/>So all in all a great find - reasonably priced, delicious food, with fantastic service throughout. Can't wait to visit again.

Great fresh salad with poached chicken and a hint of chilli! Dressing and herbs were yum but wish there was more. Takeaway was fast and cheap. Will be back again to try the pho

DElicious!! Simplest menu ever which was quite refreshing to see but it's being tweaked in a couple of weeks. Great prices, fresh food, fantastically friendly staff. We had the fresh summer rolls and chicken salad. Great value! Delicious.

This place is such a nice addition to Dominion Road which is extremely lacking in Vietnamese restaurants.<br/><br/>The staff were extremely attentive and helpful.<br/><br/>I would recommend the classic bun cold rice vermicelli salad with the lemon grass chicken - such a winner and a huge portion for $14.90!<br/>My bf ordered the duck with noodles which was pretty delicious but he had major food envy of my noodle salad so we ended up sharing both dishes.<br/><br/>The summer rolls tasted fresh, delicious and were reasonably priced.<br/><br/>For $60 we had 2x servings of summer rolls, the pork fried rolls, the roast BBQ duck, the lemon grass chicken noodle salad and 2x coffee over ice - great value for the amount of food.<br/><br/>We will definitely be back!
Manic Diner
Dined here last week on a whim. The staff were friendly and attentive and made us feel welcome. My friend loved her pho bo and raved about the broth. My roast duck on rice however was just okay because the meat was a bit on the chewy side which kinda ruined it for me. I did enjoy the lemongrass skewered chicken though. I'll have to return next time to try the much raved about pho bo.

Great ambience and set up. Great variery of food choice with authentic taste. <br/>Just a recommendation for the management of the restaurant :) "use food tray to bring food out to customers instead of having ur staffs going back and forth". Otherwise, evrything else is fab. Will come back again.

Was not a fan of Vietnamese food until today. We had chicken skewers, fried spring rolls, special fried rice, lotus root chicken salad, beef pho & ice lemon teas with and without honey. On this super hot day our meal was sooo refreshing and tasty. Everything tasted soo good, there were multiple hits of flavour in every dish I couldn't help hmmmming out loud. The beverages were so good even the cucumber and lemon water was good. Customer service was on point the lady was very friendly and told us to sit under the air con to cool down, which was the deciding factor for eating there. Definitely going back again. Ohhh it was cheap too everything cost about 70bucks all up!

This review is based on two visits to VietKitchen. The first time we visit we ordered the beef soup noodles or pho bo, alongside banh mi, bun bo hue noodles and bo kho. We were excited to pay this new restaurant a visit as we lived north west and try it out restaurant which is our usual Vietnamese restaurant was too far. We hoped this could be our new Viet spot since it was closer to our home. The food was much more traditionally made than most of the other Vietnamese restaurants popping up catering to western customers which I was pleased with. I enjoyed all the dishes except the bo kho which I didn't think was worth the money and was quite bland in taste. The bowl was very small and the flavour unexciting. The banh mi was delicious but I was disappointed there was no pate which would've gave the dish a great punch. Pate should be used in banh mi all the time I believe - it's what makes the bread roll truly Vietnamese. Overal the first visit was great and I was planning on coming back soon. Second time however was disappointing as I felt all our dishes was just packed with salt! Far far too salty! It was flavoursome but maybe due to the salt... We ordered the special rice dish and bun bo hue that time around. The meat was marinated deliciously but like I said .. Please.... Take it easy with the salt.... This is why overall I give the restaurant eating a 3 only. But I will be back to see if the second visit was only a mistake of the hand with the salt overload lol

After reading the reviews below I decided to rank this great little place against its peers, not against some Quixotic idea of 'fine dining.' I was excited to see Viet Kitchen open up right down the street from where I live. I'm a huge fan of Vietnamese food. I've been spoiled by all the great joints in LA. And then there's this famous place called the Slanted Door in San Francisco....<br/>Anyway, this is a family restaurant. The mom cooks and the rest of the family run the dining room with affection and grace. I've had most things on the menu here. Both chicken salads are excellent and made with snowy white chicken breast. The beef salad is solid. They don't stint on the fresh herbs here like other places in Auckland. The Banh Mi are among the best. Lemongrass chicken, excellent. Overall, great food at reasonable prices and super friendly service. For cheap eats, you can't do much better than this. And don't forget the coffee! Amazing.

A new player in Dominion Road's food scene offers a lilting menu and a variety of yummy Vietnamese dishes for take away or for an easy time out.  The Viet Kitchen has a modern decor, has a spacious interior and friendly staff.   My group was seated in an friendly and efficient manner and staff made sure to ask if everything was going all right with the food after we had started taken them. Young Kayley was captivated by the framed paintings and photos on the wall - and took time out to also check the bamboo plant with her Mum.  The restaurant is sited in an already existing hub of food outlets and not far from the Countdown supermarket in Mount Eden.

A clean, modern decor and friendly staff make a good first impression. The summer rolls were a bit heavy on the noodles, but the main dishes were all excellent. I especially recommend the chargrilled pork. Will definitely be back again.

We were pleasantly greeted and made welcome.<br/>Good and simple menu. Pleasant decor too. Air-conditioned too. <br/>We had BYO and chilled wine glasses and ice for cider arrived.<br/>Food was excellent with great flavours and so reasonably priced. <br/>Rice paper rolls and a main plus corkage was $22.<br/>Will be a regular now.

This place is wonderful. A friend recommended it to us as it is both meat and vegetarian friendly (a rarity for Vietnamese restaurants!) . All dishes can be made vegetarian on request. <br/>The menu is small to medium sized but perfectly put together to incorporate only fresh, seasonal ingredients. The dishes are also very cheap for their portion size, averaging around $14 for a main dish. <br/>The owners are lovely, so accommodating and friendly. The server explained how all the dishes are cooked by her mother. We enjoyed every dish - pho bo, lemongrass chicken, pork and bun. We found the condensed milk coffee to finish our meal authentic and wonderful. I will be visiting regularly - a little piece of Vietnam in Auckland!

Excellent Fresh summer rolls, tasty pho bo with an excellent broth. Lemongrass chicken. Just what I needed after the Xmas rich fare. Recommended. <br/>Looking forward to working my way through the menu!

Went to mt. eden for the sole purpose of eating here, but was extremely disappointed. There were only 2 tables and 3 floor staff. No one cared to greet us so we just looked for a table and took our seats. The floor staff just looked at us and did not even give us menus. 15 minutes later, still no menu. So we just got up and left. I work in the hospo and this is so far the worst service i've ever had.

Just opened. Tried the spring rolls which were pretty good and Saigon beef noodles, which were also pretty good. A little salty but flavoursome. <br/>Reasonable and modern decor and better than most Asian places on dominion road.

Hidden gem on dominion road, happened to stumble in here for lunch around boxing day. Had not heard about this place before.<br/><br/>Had the vietnamese style ice coffee with condensed milk - awesome.<br/><br/>Had the spicy beef and the duck noodles soup. Noodle soup was out of this world, so rich and addictive, and fresh.<br/><br/>Regular noodle soup price just over 11-12$<br/><br/>A great place for quick noodles that you wont regret.<br/><br/>3.5 Yums
