Review Brothers Beer Juke Joint - Auckland Central

It’s nice place but for eating systems they need to put nice tables it’s really small tables for food

Haven't had the food yet! But exceptional music taste blaring out as we walked in the door. Was fantastic to be greeted with some Creed "One Last Breath". The aesthetic of the place made me feel right at home. Well worth a 10 minute van ride to this exceptional establishment.

Love this place - and it is DOG FRIENDLY! What more can you ask for? Their dog day out was amazing, very well planned, heaps of people and friendly staff.

Absolutely loved this place. We had beers paddles and later a couple of more beers. Basically tried every brothers beer on the menu. Huge seating, dining, sprawling areas. By the end of the afternoon the whole lawn was full of people, babies and dogs. Did try the food on another occasion, few options, mostly sandwiches and some sides. Food was very reasonably priced but portions we're tiny. They have started a good deal for Beer+Sandwich+Side for $20. Tater tots we're the best. Do not order the Mac & cheese.Overall love coming to this place. Always got a happy vibe and decent beer.

Absolutely love the bbq experience! Pretty sure the rest of the kiwis would appreciate a large selection of craft beers too! We had beef brisket and Greek salad. It was amazing!! Love the garlic aioli!

Pretty awesome vibe. Service was by far the fastest we've ever had anywhere. The food was on point - if I have only one criticism, I gobbled a couple of fat bits, which obviously shows the fat isn't trimmed from the meat before serving. But it didn't spoil my meal or my visit. Recommended and yes will visit again (paying attention for the fatty bits before biting). 👌🏻

Amazing ribs which have been consistently good each time we have got them. Solid Smokey cook on them and right through the meat, not just a glazed on sauce like most places. Definitely would recommend. Love their pickles! Mac n Cheese and Tater tots are great as well

Went here to celebrate my 21st birthday and had an amazing time. The atmosphere was great, great service with friendly staff. We have been a few times before and had a great time. Highly recommend!

Love the dessert, highly recommend their cheesecake, the cookie was amazing although started off a bit soggy, bought half of it home to let it set. Was the most delicious thing after letting it set for about half an hour.

Such an awesome place to come. We had a Grabone voucher so we got to sample a bit of everything on the menu and it was all amazing. Craft beer heaven for those who are keen and such a friendly staff. Great outdoor and indoor area and dog friendly!

BBQ and brewery. Nestled in residential street you would not know this place existed (at night) if it weren't advertising or word of mouth. Entrance is at the rear of industrial building. Staff are friendly and helpful. You are able to sit and watch the brewers at work crafting their beers. Walls adourned with retro kitch. Morris Minor in corner. Food was quick to come to the table. It was tasty and plentiful washed down with local brew. Ribs were moist and tender(have bbq in US where they were dry out and tuff.) Not sure I liked the kimchee or expresso bbq sauce but was interesting twist on sauce.

Really nice relaxed atmosphere. The food was awesome! Only problem was we couldn't try it all so we need to go back :) Also a nice selection of beers that suited all our tastes.

It fulfilled my cravings...just wished the meat from the ribs fell from the bone. Was a little chewy and a bit of tug of war. Not ideal for first dates haha...still doesn't deter from the family atmosphere and friendly staff and the satisfaction of waddling out afterwards. The beer we had was the PIHA lager and it was YUMMO 😊

It's a rare find to have a bbq place that has vegetarian options so this place was a dream! We got the BBQ MEAL which included 150g protein (which for the vegetarians there was tofu or jackfruit and meat eaters had ribs, brisket, lamb, salmon), side salad, sauce and 2 extra sides of your choice. Such a good deal for $31 and we just added another protein on to share the sides together.

Highly recommend the $20 all you can eat chicken tenders on a Tuesday 😋. The staff here are also super nice and kind. Comfortable eating indoors and outdoors with chairs, tables and couches.

Love this place for an afternoon chill session ad you can take the kiddies along to play outside in the sandpit or inside in the sweet old school real life truck. Delicious food and good brews with great service. Handy to the Mt Eden train station (opening again soon). Some off street parking if you are early enough.

Really good place to relax. The staff is very friendly. The food was delicious and they serve jugs of beer.I try to taste all of beer but impossible. The place is easy to get to from CBD. I would return
Chris
Highly recommend this place, atmosphere was as amazing, in-house brewed beers were good, slow cooked and smoked BBQ food was perfect, top that with amazing &friendly staff. Cant wait to go back again

Food<br/>- Smoked Meats: were really good. We got the pastrami and beef brisket. Definitely try the beef<br/>- Porks Ribs: quite dry and had a tough outer layer. Sauce was good though. <br/>- Seasonal Salad: This was surprisingly my favourite <br/>- Chicken: Not bad but nothing special about it <br/>- Mac n Cheese: same again, not bad but wasn’t the best <br/><br/>Service <br/>- I wouldn’t say the service was bad but I got a vibe from the staff that they didn’t want to be there. They were all good but wasn’t the best feeling when it seemed like they were over it haha <br/><br/>Overall the ambiance is cool and the food wasn’t the best but I’d come back for a drink since it’s a cool hangout spot.

Been wanting to go to this place for a while as i usually pass it on my way back from work. Thought it seemed like a cool vibe but as soon as me and a couple of my friends entered we had no clue what to do or where to go. Did not once get greeted by staff and ended up finding our own seats after at least 10mins of looking around for a table. We ended up finding this very dark room off the main area right next to the kitchen and even then had no one help us out as we had no menus or utensils. When our food was served to us, the staff were quite cold, not to mention the overpriced food as it lacked flavor and authenticity. The pulled pork sandwich was quite watery n ended up making the whole sandwich soggy within minutes and the ribs were dry.<br/>Will not be going back.

It's Sunday. You're feeling lazy. What better than a couple of brews to wind down the week. <br/><br/>Stopped in with a couple of mates for a lazy Sunday and it was a great afternoon. The beers were on point and the food was insanely good. Solidly recommend the beef brisket sandwich and the hash bites poutine. Despite it being a bit busy, the service was good and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time.

The warehouse setting was kinda funky and clearly catered for a family scene, so much so it was kind of like having lunch and beers in a crèche. Still, can’t complain about that - it’s all about inclusivity right? That said - the juvenile puppy ‘playfully climbing’ the unsupervised child at the table next to us wasn’t what we had set out for. The wait staff were surly and could only have been described as miserable. The beer is horribly expensive. A glass for $11 was literally the size of a cup of coffee. We each had the poutine, one with pulled pork and the other two with jackfruit. Tasted ok (hard to stuff up deep fried potatoes with cheese and gravy) but there was almost no gravy and the toppings were sparse. Overall it didn’t quite make a three out of five. Won’t be going back!

This place is as good as I remembered it!!! The staff were phenomenal!! Such an awesome beer experience, up there with one of the best I’ve had! The manager talked us through their awesome seasonal beers, showed us a bit of the brewery (on site!) and recommended us some amazing food!! Him and the girl (with wicked fashion sense!!) were so so attentive! I can not recommend this place any higher, only because Zomato won’t let me give out 10 stars

Paid a sneaky visit here for Valentine’s Day and absolutely loved it. Oddly enough the standout of our visit for me were the braised collard greens 😍 the Mac and cheese was also noteworthy as it had the perfect amount of cheesiness and the texture was a 10. I got shunned for mixing the pulled pork with the Mac and Cheese, but if you’re not vanilla then I highly recommend it. The Pulled Pork was pretty good (I honestly can’t remember it that well? But I know that I liked it haha especially w// the mac and cheese). The Brisket was super tasty, not the softest in the world but still a beauty. My one regret whilst visiting here was getting one of those pink gins in a bottle instead of branching out and trying one of their brews. Another cool feature to note is that they are both child and dog friendly which is always a huge plus 😍

I wanted to try the duke for some time . It is a Cool place , really relaxed environment , seems to be a popular place for all age groups to hang out and drink nice craft beers and ciders . The food however was really disappointing , everything we ordered was quite bland and tasteless. Been a popular place we had to wait a long time nearly 50 minutes. So it would defiantly pay to book . Would not return for food .

Came through on Saturday night (06/10/19), seemed pretty quiet and dimly lit. Didn't realise until later that the lively atmosphere was located at the bar down the corridor. Anyways, the ribs were dry asf, bit of a battle to get the meat off the bone. Pulled pork was watery. Beef brisket and spicy chicken thighs were done very well. Flavours were all there. Will come back (maybe to one of their other branches instead) to try some more of what they have to offer.

Huge selection of BBQ style meats served in a very funky brewery. <br/>Great outdoor and indoor seating area with live music. Definitely a great chill out weekend spot for friends, family or to bring your date. <br/>Food was ok, but the mac and cheese was disappointing. Huge chicken wings but was very bland, ribs and the pulled pork was ok. Not too overpriced and very generous serving along with the great atmosphere. <br/>Overall, food was average at best but the atmosphere and service make up for it. So I would still recommend to visit if you're in the area.

Used to be of my favourite spots if I was craving BBQ. The menu has changed and the prices have been increased quite significantly. We ordered brisket, a piece of the fried chicken and tater tots. Tater tots were good, both meats were very small for the price and were both dry. Seriously expensive for not a lot.
Steph
We used to come here relatively often, the place was always full of families and it was rad. Went yesterday and brisket for example cost $16 for a slice and a half of dry meat. Everything is so overpriced and there are so many unenthusiastic staff standing around who will serve you begrudgingly after they've finished their conversations. I counted 7 or 8 people who just looked like they didn't want to be there and didn't want to serve you. Couldn't believe the cost of a lunch time snack so we won't be back. The place was the emptiest I've seen and was very quiet. Wake up guys!!! Ripping people off with substandard food and drinks isn't doing you any favours

Great vibe and food. The staff there were awesome. Nick the person that served us deserves a raise, went above and beyond with his great service.

Best tater tots in Auckland and pairs well with meat. Really really juicy and tender Chicken, its a must try. The brisket and sausage was okay, it was just cold and once fatty smoked meat becomes cold it just becomes solid. I was really disappointed in that. The MacnCheese was average, it lacked favour, lots of cheese but missing something. It would be nice mixed with an aged sharpe cheese and needed to be grilled on the top to give it some texture of smooth and crunch. I feel like the chefs had given up or it was almost closing time, despite arriving at about 7pm on a Sunday afternoon.

I don’t mean too be harsh, but overall the food was ok/good, but last year I had a trip too Houston and in SAN Antonio I have the best BBQ in the world, Franklins BBQ. The food wasn’t bad, it’s I have had the gold standard of BBQ<br/><br/>Had the,<br/><br/>Beef brisket 5/10 was dry for me Luke warm<br/>Lamb ribs 6/10 <br/>Sausage 2/10-came out cold <br/>Slaw-8/10-loved the ginger pieces <br/>Tator tots-4/10-was eatable <br/>Mac n cheese-7/10<br/>Aoli-5/10<br/>Chilli chipotle-8/10<br/><br/>

Relax atmosphere and friendly staffs! Kids and pets strolled around just like at home, nice place for weekend catch up with friends and family. <br/>Chicken wings are too many for me. Huge portion. Not a connoisseur of craft beer but appreciate it

We had lunch here the other day <br/>What a awesome place 😎<br/>Food was good and tasty!!!<br/>Customer service 10/10<br/>Loads of different beers to choose from<br/>We will definitely be back <br/>Thanks

Have been wanting to eat here really bad. <br/>And unfortunately it made me very sad<br/>The chicken wings were cold and were not seasoned very well. Like they were Ice cold. The potato skins tho 😍 they were amazing went spent roughly 70 ish dollars and I have to say I did get full but only cause I had to. Great atmosphere tho <br/>you had great customer service but the food just wasn’t t cutting it

Lucky to get a half price table (50% off food). Ordered a huge variety of meats and sides and 3 types of sandwiches. Chicken sandwich is crispy and fresh- would recommend these and the lamb ribs of the things we ordered. We also tried the chicken wings, pork ribs, pastrami, mac n cheese, naked skins and taster tots. Don’t forget to order sauces. Awesome variety of brews on tap and beverages available. Group friendly and family friendly. Something for everyone- vegetarian options including jackfruit.
Lala
The food is very delicious especially their mac and cheese, tater tots, loaded skins and pork ribs. The customer service and ambience are excellent.

Came here for dinner on Friday night and place was quite busy. There aren't many car park in the premise and outside parking were filled up too. We got lucky as someone left. <br/><br/>Customer service and deco were good. However, the food were a bit average and portion size a bit small for its price. We ordered beef brisket which my girl friend found to be a bit dry.Tater tot poutine and naked skin were average. sandwich with jack fruit were interesting and not bad.<br/><br/>Customer Service: 8/10 <br/><br/>Food: 5/10 <br/><br/>Atmosphere: 7/10<br/><br/>Date: March 2019

Juke Joint BBQ just opened in City Works Depot, that's the one this review is for but the food is made offsite so I'm sure it relates to others too, except the Smoked & Fried Chicken might be a new addition..?<br/><br/>Went in with high expectations and it ended up being so so average. I was torn between giving it a 3 or a 2 - I guess it's a 2.5 but it should have and could have been so much better so I'm going with a 2.<br/><br/>First up the Smoked & Fried buttermilk chicken. Sounds amazing, right?! It looked amazing too.. Good sized piece of boneless chicken breast, great looking batter crust.. Keeps going when you bite into it - great texture, nice and moist, but then all of a sudden something is off, something is missing. FLAVOUR! There was zero taste of smoke or any sort of spice, or even salt. It was bland and boring. What a missed opportunity, even just some salt would have made it miles better (if only there was some at the table...!) :/<br/><br/>The Burnt-end beans likewise had absolutely no flavour - no smokiness or meatiness, just pure goddamn sugar. A blind taste test would put them below Wattie's baked beans. <br/><br/>And the sauerkraut (seriously, how can you fuck that up??) was weak and so  extremely dry. My portion of it was also half the size of my friend's which was... annoying.<br/><br/>My eating companions had the same feelings about their meals. Except one had the brisket and it was apparently "ok" but quite dry. <br/><br/>The tater tots were soaked in oil. I'm not one to hate on fried anything (especially the glorious potato) but man, they were not great.<br/><br/>Overall a big disappointment for something I was hoping would become a go-to lunch spot. There are many more options on the menu to try but honestly, I can't see myself mustering up the enthusiasm for it.

I love here so much! it's like a secret garden in mt eden. Got the so much types of fresh brewery to choose and also have bbq. Ribs are the best, a bit salty for me, but good to match the beer.

I went to this place for a work event last month and found out that I was overcharged for drinks. I then email them to clarify this. In conclusion, I have more than 15 emails exchange with this girl by the name of Ju An (she initially was trying to get away with the refund) and she has then promised to refund me. Btw, this is such a small amount which I do not even really care BUT the fact that she has challenged me in those 15 emails, I insist on my small refund! Guess what??? After more than a month, there was still no refund! This is just really sad how they rip people off. Offering a refund and nothing in your account after months!!!

You arrive this place and you can start smelling the smoke. Great selection of meats and sides, prefect for a Brothers Beer. Quick and good service.
Damáris Granha
The place is great and the beer is good. However, the service was a bit disappointing. It felt like they were doing us a favour for serving us. The food was average and definitely not fresh, as the pork ribs were cold and dry. I was really looking forward to it but am not sure if I’ll be returning anytime soon

Great outlet. American style bbq with great made New Zealand beer. Cool dinning experience having an outdoor area as well as being able to eat in a full functioning brewery. <br/>Child friendly having a sand pit out side with loads of toys for kids to enjoy. <br/>The food is pretty good having tried the brisket, pulled pork, sausage, chicken wings, lamb, beans, slaw and mac n cheese. All were very tasty and hard to fault. Portion sizes and prices are reasonable.<br/>Service was awesome from the girls behind the bar and restaurant side too. Very cool place to kick back have a feed and enjoy some nice food.

We go there every week and we were quite disappointed that the brisket burgers are discontinued. And the brisket sandwiches we got weren’t good either. The brisket was dry and the portions of the tater tots were small.

In all honesty, I would actually give this place about a 4.2. I think that this place deserves more than a 4 but less than a 4.5. Juke Joint had a really chill atmosphere, which I think would be good for all types of group outings. It's right next to Brother's Brewery which makes it really good if you're out with the boys after game day, or a get together with old friends. There is also space for children to run around if you don't have anywhere to drop them off. It has an industrial feel and all the little touches like the menu and the Juke Joint pencils help enhance the experience. The staff was really friendly but still was very professional, the guy who served me went from having a nice conversation with me to making sure that I got everything that I had ordered. The food I thought would be a really good food for you to have with a couple of beers. It goes great with alcohol in general. I would definitely recommend the sandwiches. The sauces paired really well with the meats, which makes it the price totally worth it.

We ate here on Saturday and were very disappointed. All the meat was cold. There was a hair in the coleslaw. Nothing was cooked fresh, it was all pre-prepared. Grandma felt unwell the next morning. Not worth it. At least the manager was respectful and dealt professionally with a few of our issues and gave us a partial refund.
Rlcforever20160414
Good selection of beer, that’s all you can expect from here. Food is very average, no table serves. When you order and pay for your food, you will see their level of service with an attitude. 1 is for the beer only.
Tanz
Love the place and atmosphere!! Really kids and pets friendly restaurant. Like if you go in the weekend you might feel like you are in daycare or in a park haha. The food was good as well - pretty confusing at the beginning of how it works but not too hard to work out. I don’t drink beer so I have no clue how it was but from others that I went with said the beer was good as well.
Calvin
Good taste of American bbq here in auckland, the meat and bbq is prepared beforehand therefore not completely fresh off the grill when you order. The rib has a good amount of herb spices and smoke flavours but personally it didn’t really hit me. The wings and sides were alright, I expected more flavour overall. The place was really cool though! The outdoor courtyard is a cool place to chill while having a drink.<br/><br/>Food- 7.5/10<br/>Service- 8/10<br/>Aesthetics- 9.5/10<br/>
Samantha Longley
Okayish place.. ordered form uber eats and they messed up my order which is a bit frustrating as when i rang no one seemed to really care. Food was average and for what you got quite over priced ..wouldn't be going back.
Lily.T
Very tasty. The sides such as the Burnt end beans and tater tots were delicious. However the meat is very overpriced. <br/>Loved the atmosphere of the place.
Lucyeatsakld
This is the place to go if you've realised the vegetarian lifestyle isn't for you after 5 weeks of abstaining from meat. We got 400g of pork ribs, then 100g each of the sausages and beef brisket as well as burnt beans and tater tots on a voucher deal. The food itself is pretty delicious and hearty with lots of flavour cooked into the meats. The thing that lets it down is that everything is on the lukewarm side. Same thing could be said about the service. The ordering part is also a bit confusing as pointed out by some of the other reviewers. The brewery side of this restaurant is quite cool but I don't think I'd be going out of my way to eat here again.

Who doesnt love it when you go to a place that delivers on slow cooked meats which you may not eat very often, who isn’t time poor these days?!. I went on a casual date night with my Number 1 to Juke Joint BBQ brought by local brewers Brothers Beer. 1 of 3 of their spots, each bringing a different food menu, Juke Joint is linked with their brewery in an open space with mismatched furniture that you would maybe find on offer in the inorganic collection. Don’t let that put you off, it oddly works. Quick tip: bring a jacket – the inside is almost as cold as it was outside, even sitting under the heaters.

Came here on a Friday night to try the rare American bbq. The interior is designed and gives the vibes of relaxed American ‘backyard party’. The interior is very very spacious. Between 2 we got the Pork ribs, beef brisket, mutton, pulled pork, pastrami, 2 mutton sandwiches, tater tots, macaroni & cheese, and sauerkraut. Yes that is a lot for just 2 people. The good thing is that you don’t need to wait for the food, they give it to you in the spot as they’re all pre-made.<br/><br/>All of the meat are smoked and kept in a warmer. However, they were all kind of dry and not succulent like how they’re supposed to be and even though they all have a little of their own distinct flavor, it wasn’t very that impressive. The only meat that wasn’t smoked and was delicious with its bbq sauce and a little sourness was the pulled pork. Also the pork ribs, also had bbq flavor to it and tasted okay, I expected the meat to be softer.<br/>The macaroni & cheese tasted a little bland as it wasn’t very flavorful. <br/>The sauerkraut was also a little bland and could only taste the preserved sourness to it. Should’ve gone with the coleslaw.<br/>The tater tot was okay as it was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The ketchup helped with the flavor. <br/>The mutton burgers with thick & juicy sauce and garlic aioli, with pickles and coleslaw, was much better than eating the smoked meat alone.<br/><br/>All of this sets back to $106 which I think wasn’t really worth in terms of portions and flavor. But I guess a couple of beers would’ve helped with the flavor and experience. There wasn’t really much service to this place because it’s more of a self-service experience as you just buy the food and take it to your table.<br/><br/>Taste - 7/10<br/>Size - 7/10<br/>Price - 7/10<br/>Ambience - 8/10
Nikki
First time eating American BBQ, Collard Greens and Mac n Cheese.<br/>I was amazed how the pork ribs had a lot of kick to them. I enjoyed sucking the flavour off the ribs. I wasn't too fussed with the pork meat NOT falling off the bone I was too amazed and impressed with all the flavours they had packed on each rib. The pulled pork, lamb ribs and brisket was definitely melt in your mouth as well as full of flavour. I'll definitely be back.

Been here twice. First time was fairly good, had a nice meal that was very meaty. The small and large portions of tatter tots were not very different in size at all. Second time we went for lunchtime and when we arrived, myself and my work mates were completely ignored. We started filling out our forms to order and were informed quite rudely that we would have to wait 20 mins for our food as there was a big order placed just before us. The way your staff spoke to us, it was as if us arriving here was a massive burden. That's fine there's a wait though. We discuss what we are ordering and we all select mutton, to which we are informed that there's no more and we would have to wait 30 mins for it to cook. We change our mind and discuss we will have the brisket. All ticked and done, and then we are told again that there's no brisket - 30 min waiting time as well. Not once was there any apology. The service was absolutely ridiculous, so we left. Your staff managed to actually look shocked when we walked out. We were treated rudely and it's a shame because this really has put us off ever going again.
Jamie
Overpriced. Small portion sizes. Flavour’s ok but nothing special compared to their prices. And they cancelled my first Uber order because in-store diners took priority (I made two Uber orders in total). One of the few restaurants I will not be buying from again.
Bring The Hot Sauce
Love the concept- beers and good old comfort food. We're talking about mac'n'cheese, meat buns and potatoes here people and it's all good. Great atmos. Perfect Sunday activity if you cbf exercising 😏
Sam Lowe
We went there from recomendations. Was very disappointed as the brisket was dry and ribs had hardly any meat on them and were not freshly made.
You're Yuck
30 kids running around like they all skulled a litre of coke each. You know the type of parents on a plane that just watch their kids scream endlessly and do absolutely nothing, they were all here. Went there yesterday for drinks from 3.30pm to 7.30pm. We knew the place was kid friendly (been before). Place was packed with two large groups. Maybe 30 kids around 5 years old. Running around outside screaming, chasing, yelling, hanging of trees etc... the parents didn't do a thing even though everyone without kids including us, starred at them hoping they might do something. It got to much for us so moved inside, there's an old morrie minor in the corner. The kids were in the car, jumping on the bonnet and roof, walking on the car. Staff were as good as they could be, not their kids so only so much they can do. Would never go back here. The parents were taking the piss and ruined it for everyone without kids.

A very interesting place to try when youre looking for authentic American BBQ. Half of the place is a brewery while the other is a BBQ joint. Its basically a self service place as there will be nobody taking your orders. Do know that a 100g worth of pork ribs is basically 1 rib since their ribs have really big bones and not much meat (I am a ribs noob). It was tasty but definitely not worth 6$. I also ordered 150g of mutton and a small portion of coleslaw. Mutton was tasty but dry. The coleslaw was good especially to kill the sweet and salty taste of the meat but it had too much pepper making it a little bit spicy. Me and my friends also shared the tater tots poutine but the other reviewers were right. The tater tots were not that special and can be just bought at the groceries. Overall, the experience was what you are really paying for. The food is okay but not great. Probably wont be back here unless I go drinking with my friends again.
Julia Gulia
I'm not sure if any if the negative reviewers realise this, but the food is Carolina-style American. It's not going to be to everyone's tastes, but Juke Joint have done a great job of giving that Carolina-style experience. Complaining that the tator tots are "the frozen bags, from the supermarket"? Uh, yeah - America. Do people really make tator tots from scratch? My partner is American and thoroughly enjoys eating here, it's a nostalgic experience for him. His favourites are the selection of meats and sauces, collard greens and (gasp) the classic American tator tots. The only downside is the pricing (this is cheap eating in America), but still a great experience nonetheless. The place can get very crowded with drinkers on weekend nights, so if you're going there to eat, good luck finding a seat. We've had to stand eating at a shared table before, but no big deal. Chill atmosphere, food service is fine and swift. Bartenders are always friendly. Cheers.

What a cool nice atmosphere great for the kids good selection of beers had mac cheese was average over cooked and very bland waties microwave frozen ones are better had some ribs came out cold very little meat on them and tough as a bastard thank god for the potatoe hash bites or we would of starved
AA
A hidden bar behind Mt eden train station. But is often crowded! Gave this one a try and hey it was great experience.<br/>Had pulled pork sandwiches which came with a fancy chips. Tried their beer tasting and cold brew coffee too! 😁 <br/>Good service, just that they will hold on to your card as it is a tab system. Place order, quoting your number and pay at the end.

Ok. I did the math on the grabone deal and it's approx a saving of $11. Not much really and by spending $58 on a voucher for a "joint BBQ feast" you'd expect just that "a feast"! Unfortunately was a bit of a let down. The pork ribs drowned in smokey sauce although reasonably meaty and mutton little dry. No gravy for meat or tater tots. The beef brisket was yum. Only bar I've been to that doesn't have ice, weird!🤔!<br/>The place was packed!, (Cpl hrs before the ABs Vs B&I Lions, 3rd test), and I commend the staff. Service & communication really good 🙂.
Natalie Bell
Went to Juke Joint on a Tuesday night with a grabone voucher. The atmosphere is neat with the open space of the brewery right next to you. Meat was nice, a little dry and very smokey flavour. I enjoyed the meal but don't think i will return.

Service is sooooooo slow !!! Been lining up for at least 20 minutes trying to get food. There were only two guys at the counter , one has to look after the till as well as putting food on the tray, ( I saw him putting his fingers too the cheese and potatoes without gloves on , then he turned to handle the till and took money off customers - hygiene much? ) while the other one has to cut meat and put food on the tray. Honestly, soooooo slow !!! Why can't they get more staffs ? By the time it was our turn a lot of the food were gone and they are making more at the back. I wouldn't recommend a big group as they can't cope .
Adrian D'souza
Cold, Chewy and Bland. Not only was the meat hard as rubber it was also overcooked and didn't feel fresh at all. Not worth the price at all in my opinion. The only good thing about this place was the brewery next door. I Found Fireworks on Wyneyard Quarter served much better food.

I expected a whole lot more, especially after reading the reviews prior to our visit. The food was average at best. The brisket was the saving grace, the tater tots are just the frozen store bought kind, good to graze on with a drink or 2. The collard greens were horrible, like reheated leftovers. You could easily mistake the mutton for a leather belt, it was soooo dry it's like they dehydrated the life out of it, but the pork ribs were decent i guess. The food is presented beautifully and looks appetising enough, but don't get your hopes up. Either the kitchen was being run by a new crew that day or they were just off their game. The brewery is quite impressive as well as the decor and setting - it has an industrial, rustic feel to it which some might not find appealing but I loved it. The courtyard is quite neat, as well as the furniture - it almost feels as if you're at a mates backyard BBQ. To summarise I'll say the place is ideal for a casual brew and catchup, tater tots go down a treat, consider the ribs or brisket if you're feeling a bit peckish & stay away from the collard greens.

Quite an interesting place. I was quite confused with how to order at first. You pick your meat, which is has a price by per 100g. Then you can choose your sides and sauces to make up the full meal.<br/><br/>Then all your choices are presented on a tray.<br/><br/>What's good about this way of ordering is that you can have as big or as small of a meal.

Don't expect much service when you come. You are on your own. <br/><br/>Food was average, beers were unique.<br/><br/>Pork ribs were nice, can't really stuff those up. Could be slightly more cooked though. <br/><br/>The coleslaw was very yummy, clean refreshing bites. <br/><br/>The potato hash you can buy them in supermarkets. I was recommended to order this by their staff..... regret. <br/><br/>Pulled pork had a very nice after taste.. but the meat was quite chewy. <br/><br/>The beef was extremely chewing and tasted very salty... would not eat again. <br/><br/>Environment: 3/5<br/>Food Quality: 2/5<br/>Food Quantity: 2.5/5<br/>Service: 1/5<br/>Price: $30-$40pp

If it wasn't for the voucher I bought on grabone I would have never discover this place! It's tugged away what seems to be a quiet street in mt Eden. <br/>It's mainly a smoke house BBQ place with varying types of meats. The voucher allowed me to have 600g of meat 2 sides and 2 bread rolls and 2 beer<br/>.<br/>I had the pulled pork, beef brisket and lamb ribs. The meats were done really well , melts in your mouth type of food. And stuff it in the the bread roll is like a super nice sandwich. <br/>The brothers brewery is here as well so there is a lot of different type of craft beer to try. <br/>I think the only let down here is the lack of service it provided, and being first timer here I felt really lost. <br/><br/>Food 4.5/5 (nothing special but done to perfection) <br/>Service 2.5/5 ( Bartender seemed retarded couldn't even articulate his speech when I asked him a simple question. Food ordering part was good the guy was helpful. But over all lacked other services everything is pretty self serviced) <br/>Instagram worthy 3/5 (apart from the beer cylinder inside everything is very plain jane)

Did not order dribks but the food was amazing. Quick service almost no wait time. Cole slaw was amazing. One of the best briskets I've had. Pork ribs were nice and spicy with a hint of sweetness. Atmosphere was veey chilled and relaxing. Couches and nice outdoor seating available. Love the whole experience. Will be back again.

The brisket was very nice, the pork ribs and chicken were good but could be better. their Chipotle Mayo and Kimchi BBQ sauce was amazing (if only they had takeaway bottles). Overall I perfer the Smoky BBQ food from Fireworks Smokehouse. The pic i posted was enough for 2, cost approx $70. The place itself is very nice and brew their own beer. Their Hoopy Wheat was the best ive had to date. Would definitely go back again, maybe just for Brisket and Beer though 😊

The food was just too horrible.. <br/>The salt (seasoning) was over powdering! Tried all of the meats from their menu and it was dry as jerky . side menu mac&cheese is just wrong.. If you guys are curing the meat before smoking them please change the ratio of salt and sugar cause its not working for my raste bud.

I liked the set up and the atmosphere and interior was pretty cool!<br/>Food was pretty good but the Mac & Cheese was almost too cheesy. Food was a little pricey but was still great and will come back again.

Great place for a chill weekend or night out after work. I love how it's quite hidden away from the main roads - it's like a secret hideout!<br/><br/>The main feature of this place is their beers - I don't drink so can't comment. But the people around me seems to be enjoying it!<br/><br/>The food which I did partake in was amazing. I tried their pulled pork, beef brisket, Mac n cheese, and tater tots. 100g of pulled pork might not seem a lot but is actually very filling if you're a small eater like me. It was delicious by the way!<br/><br/>I didn't enjoy the Mac n cheese as much as the try of what I'd ordered. The bread roll was okay. <br/><br/>U must check this place out even if it's just for the vibe! Highly recommended.

Juke Joint is a very interesting and cool concept, a BBQ place in a brewery. The atmosphere was awesome. Meat is the name of the game here, and you order it by the 100gram. It can get pricey if you arn't careful. My personal favourite part of the meal was the poutine (a side order), this was tiny hash browns covered in cheese and pulled pork. I would recommend this place for something different and fun!

I like meat, I live for meat. <br/>They have lots of meat. <br/>Most were good, But frankly the price was ridiculous. <br/>Really, so expensive. nothing that special for such a price tag. <br/>disappointing. <br/>some of their meat was dry, Pulled pork is really sub standard, you need to use fattier meat for flavour. It feels like i was eating bits of string and twine. <br/>the lamb ribs were great, pork ribs, and beef ribs. Brisket was ok but needed a fattier cut, it was dry. <br/>It is a meat bbq place, you can spare some unhealthiness - You ain't gonna get vegans complaining about healthiness here. <br/><br/>I would have given one more star if it was cheaper.

Visited Juke Joint all the way from Browns Bay for our daughter's birthday and we were craving for meat. <br/><br/>A dear friend recommended Juke Joint and after reading the menu- the troops agreed to Juke Joint.<br/><br/>MEAT!!!!<br/><br/>Spent close to $200 on just food, no drinks. That's plenty of food for 2 adults, a teenage girl and an 8 yr old boy.<br/><br/>Yummmmm mmmmm. <br/><br/>Meat is ordered by grams- so you can mix it up to your preference which I thought was good. But you can also order sandwiches if sharing food is not your thing. <br/><br/>Friendly staff too.<br/>

My kinda place. It's all in the package.<br/>Good food : Lager : Stylish<br/>This place is like a hidden gem but don't get me wrong...they have a massive sign towards the location.<br/>The food are simply delicious. Simple and superb.<br/>Nothing much for me to say....the only best way is for u to experience it yourself. You won't be disappointed.

This place is located in a very unassuming part of Mt Eden. They have been open for a while and we have been meaning to try them.<br/>There are seats in the courtyard are which I imagine would be a lovely atmosphere in summer. There are also seats in the brewery next door so it's kinda like sitting in a warehouse, which actually had a nice feel too.<br/>I love American bbq style food, you just can't go wrong with large amounts of meat. We had a range of items between four of us. Pork ribs, lamb ribs, pulled pork, sausage, beef brisket, mutton, house pickles, tater tots, collard greens, tater tot poutine and green beans. The sauces are amazing too especially the chipotle mayo and kimchi bbq.<br/>The food was absolutely fantastic, I loved the ribs and the brisket. So so good. It may sound like we consumed a lot of food, we mainly had small portions of meat which meant we all had a slice of each item. Now comes the but.... this cost us around $60 per person. And as good as it was I just think $60 per person is a bit steep. If not for the price I would have definitely given 4.5 out of 5.

Offering traditional American food and counter-style service, Brothers Juke Joint BBQ and Brothers Brewery is housed inside a huge ex-leather factory in Mt Eden. A garage-like aesthetic with a huge courtyard and outdoor seating area plus a children's play area - I love coming here with friends for beer and BBQ. <br/><br/>The menu/ordering sheet allow you to create your own tray of delicious barbequed and slow-cooked meats (ordered per 100g) with a range of delicious sides and amazing sauces. The pastrami and pork rib with Kimchi BBQ sauce are some of my favourites and I love pairing this with a sour dill pickle, sauerkraut and tater tots!

We ordered too much food but i enjoyed it. Would have loved it if they had chowder in their menu as well. Meat was a bit dry but tasty. Overall i enjoyed our meal Coffee Junkie was hungry.

Worst food experience ever. So disappointing. So expensive for take away styled food. Everything is in warmers, nothing is made fresh. No table service and food comes in paper boxes and is slopped up right in front of you. I felt so sick from the Luke warm fatty lamb ribs which were in fact lamb flaps. We spent $90 , we could've had a really nice meal for that amount.

Came here a couple of weeks ago with family. Location is awesome and big lots of space inside and outside. Very child friendly (which can get pretty loud & annoying if you're childless) <br/><br/>I love the idea that you tick the little menu and chose exactly what you want and how much you want. Once you are done choosing you take your menu up to the counter and they serve your food right in front of you. It reminds me of a canteen. <br/><br/>Great tasting food & a lot to chose from. My partner and I got a whole bunch to share although I think our eyes were bigger than our bellies..<br/><br/>Overall will be back to try other options <br/>

Came here yesterday with a friend and the weather was horrible. It was difficult trying to find this place and when we arrived, the staff just stared at us and didn't tell us which way to enter the restaurant whilst we were standing outside in the pouring rain. Customer service is the worst here. On top of that, the food came out within 5 minutes after placing our order. We got the beef brisket burger, beef brisket sandwich, collard greens and macaroni and cheese. The entire meal was quite salty, the beef brisket almost tasted similar to corned beef. The Mac and cheese was a huge let down because it had a powdery aftertaste. Tasted like it was made from a packet of powder and they just added water to it. Presentation isn't nice and the food tastes just as bad as it looks. No wonder why it didn't take long for the food to come out. The only thing that was enjoyable was the burger and sandwich buns which tasted like it was house made. This place has potential for success but unfortunately the customer service and lack of attention and love put into the food is a huge let down. Never coming back here again.

Went for lunch today with 5 mates. The Brothers Brewery side of this operation deserves a 5/5. Top Marks. The staff are awesome, service bang on, the beers are varied and good, and the atmosphere cool. Couldn't fault it.<br/><br/>The (2) rating is attributed purely to the Jukes Joint food part of the operation. I walked in with my menu filled out. Three  men were working in the Juke Joint Kitchen to serve four customers queued waiting to order.  One chef out the back and two men at the front. The Indian looking guy with the stubble (who seemed to be the man in charge) was the rudest person in service i've ever come across. He wouldn't answer any questions I had about the menu and food, thankfully the poor guy in the queue in front of me answered my sauce related question having been here before. He barked at the customers, he snatched my docket and menu and demanded to know what I had chosen (look at the blinking menu I had filled out), he threw the menu and the docket into the salad bay behind the glass.  He then told the poor guy in front of me to get to the ever growing back of the queue even though he had been standing there waiting to hand his menu and docket over before I even arrived in the room. Had I not already paid I would have told him to shove his menu up his butt, put his head up there too, and calm the hell down. Yes I get that the lunchtime rush was starting and it was busy and you were in the process of getting slammed. But that doesn't give you carte blanche to be rude and angry to your customers and treat them like crap. You're letting the place down. The food tasted great, but that guy serving everyone behind the counter is an absolute prat and ruined the lunch part of the experience. I'll go back to Brothers Brewing in a heart beat and highly recommend this place, but won't eat there again after that experience unless different staff are in the food area.

I came to this place craving meat and left unsatisfied and ripped off. . We came on a Friday night at around 8pm and they had pretty much sold out of everything. So we ordered what was left: the brisket, the pastrami and the sausage. <br/><br/>The sausage was really good, probably the best thing we ordered but it was $9.50 for one sausage! We had expected the other meats to be juicy and tender but they were dry and lacklustre. The brisket was incredibly salty. For 100g, you get approximately one slice of dry salty meat. For sides, we got tater tots and burnt end beans. The tater tots were good, nothing special. They tasted like those frozen bags you can buy from the supermarket. The burnt end beans were undercooked and really sweet. Portions were quite small for a large.<br/><br/>Ugh. Don't go here, I'm still so salty about it LIKE MY DAMN BRISKET.

Kid friendly, nice space, food could be better. Tucked away in Mt Eden I hope they improve on the quality of the food as it could be so much more.
Benedict Uy
The menu is a piece of paper where you put down how much of each type of meats the offer and then pass it to the guy who weights and puts it onto a tray for you. The meats are generally between $10-13 per 100g so it can easily get expensive since everything on the menu sounds appetising. The warning is that thing do run out (I missed out on the pork rib by a few orders), but gets replaced for the dinner service from 5pm.<br/><br/>After getting meats from Juke joint you can find a table in the large refurbished warehouse to get a beer from brothers. Really nice place for a feed and a few drinks over the day.<br/><br/>They have parking around the back up the driveway and along the side of Akahiro Street. There is an entrance on both.
Claudia
A little hard to find at first but the interior is spacious and has a good atmosphere for hangouts and casual dinners. The sandwiches had a lot of flavour and I loved that you could pick your own sauces. Tater tots were a great snack and a good quantity for $6. The mac and cheese tasted great at first but the sauce starts to taste 'powdery' after a while and I felt the cheesy taste was a bit artificial. But overall, this place was yum and I'd go back again :)

Came here with a party of 12 for the Man big 30th. They all love the home-brew feeling of the place and their beers are great too! American style bbq, reasonably priced. Love their side dishes and their 'small' is actually quite big, which is a great bonus. We usually ordered sandwiches, the only thing I would say is that the buns to sandwiches could get quite soggy if you don't eat it right away. Other than that, a great, laid-back place to hang out with friends.

Continuing my meat eating spree, my group stumbled upon this place after scouring through the Internet for some meat-heavy restaurants.<br/><br/>Juke Joint BBQ is tucked nicely behind the Mt Eden transport station and I would be lying if I said that we weren't all a little confused as to where the exact entrance was.<br/><br/>Juke has excellent decorations and layout as many other Zomato reviewers have already stated. It has a cosy and relaxed atmosphere, and wonderful lighting that kept things bright yet personal.<br/><br/>They have an interesting way of taking your order, where you order dishes and meat by size/ weight and then you give that written order to the counter. Boom, five minutes later, you have a tray full of carnivore treats and some tasty side dishes.<br/><br/>We ordered a variety of the beef ribs, mutton, beef brisket, and pork ribs as our meat choices. In terms of sides we had the Mac&Cheese, potato tots, beans, coleslaw and sauerkraut. <br/><br/>The Mac&Cheese and beans were favourites for the sides. The sauerkraut was also pretty legendary and disappeared in under 5 minutes.<br/><br/>In terms of the meat, I must confess the amount was a little disappointing and so was the taste, for the best bang-for-buck, I would suggest the beef brisket.<br/><br/>Showstopper: The sides were fantastic and the decor of Jukes is awesome.<br/><br/>Overall Grade: B+

Have heard a lot about this place, finally got to try it for lunch and thought the place would be a great venue for a party, industrial rooftop feeling! good vibe, not bad food and a shit tone of onsite beer being in brewed. I'd like to hit this place with a bunch of mates on a sunny day.

Today was our first visit to Juke Joint, though we are already big fans of Brothers at City Works. We loved the retro meets industrial decor and the beers are brilliant. We took our baby along with us and it's definitely a very family friendly, relaxed place on a weekend afternoon.<br/><br/>The guys on the bar were friendly but the service in the food section was bordering on surly. We ordered beef ribs, a brisket sandwich and a side order of tater tots. The food was yummy but for $50 (not including drinks) I thought it was hugely overpriced considering the small serving size, basic style of food (how much does it take to deep fry some frozen tater tots... definitely not $10) and lack of service. It's essentially fast food slopped onto a metal tray.<br/><br/>I'll be back but next time I'll skip the food and just go for the beers.

Been looking for a BBQ joint in Auckland and read about this place. The atmosphere was very nice, very relaxed and it was nice to see that they cater to kids as well with the sandpit in the courtyard. We had brisket, which was on the dry side but overall tasty, ribs were nice and tender but not so pull apart-ish as one would expect with ribs, the sausage was the surprise winner. We had the tater tots and pulled pork from the kids menu, and i'd say I'm going back to try the pulled pork on their own. Wish they had crackling though. Mac and cheese was a let down, it was like goop, it had a chalky texture, maybe from the cheese they used? I'm afraid to say I'd rather have a box of Kraft mac n cheese.

Tucked away from the main drag, Juke Joint BBQ was an excursion with the kids in tow that I was mildly looking forward to. The courtyard is very inviting and we happened upon a sunny afternoon so the place was in full swing. It had a very carefully crafted rustic appeal, but still was very polished and refined.<br/><br/>The kids enjoyed the sandpit and play area - it was really good keeping the little ones occupied while parents sampled the craft beer and cider on offer. There weren't a whole truckload of kids and there were plenty of groups of childless/childfree (aka happy and well rested) peoples mingling, so don't read my comment about kids and refrain from visiting because you are scared it's going to be like a McDonalds playground. I assure you that isn't the case.<br/><br/>We ordered the pulled pork, mutton, beef brisket and sausage with sides of tatter tots and burnt end beans, The kids had a tater tot poutine to share. The meat was actually fairly average. The beef brisket was amazing, but the pulled pork was dry and the mutton tasted just like the pulled pork. The burnt end beans were too sweet for my taste, I don't think many people could finish the whole serving. The tater tots were exactly like the McCain Hash Brown nuggets that you buy at the supermarket, but needed to drain longer in the deep fryer basket as they were oily.<br/><br/>The cost sneaks up on you quite quickly, that would be something to keep an eye on when dining here. While we were waiting to order, the guy in front put an order in. The staff went away and prepared it, put it on a tray and then came back to him with the final bill of $160. He was pretty surprised but stumped up with it because it had been put out in front of him. I think it would be a better idea to ring up the cost first and take payment and THEN prepare the order. Also, perhaps look at giving out numbers and delivering orders to tables? We had to wait there while orders were made (10 minutes per person served at least) and the people behind us would have felt the wait drag on even longer I'm sure. Seems a silly way to do it.<br/><br/>Overall disappointed with my dining experience. So much potentioal, but I'm willing to chalk it up to the staff having a bad day and some kinks to iron out. I am definitely going back here again but I think I'll stick to a takeaway beef brisket roll next time.

Having heard great things and seen many positive reviews, we decided to give juke joint a go! We arrived around midday and were the only two diners. Sadly, the two lads didn't say a word and just stared at us lol. Not knowing what to do, we just decided to take a seat at the closest table. We then saw the little order sheets and pencils and started planning our meal..<br/><br/>We opted for 100g of pulled pork, 100g mutton, 150g beef brisket, small tater tots and a small Mac n cheese. At this point, still no explanation so we decided to get up and ask.... the lady then pointed towards the kitchen direction which no words spoken to us.<br/><br/>What we ordered was an OK serving for two people and we agreed the favourites were the pulled pork and the tater tots. I liked the mac and cheese but my friend was thought it was so so. The mutton was super super dry and lacked flavour. A super sad and sorry portion for $11 too.<br/><br/>Our table water was served at the end of our meal.<br/><br/>The food pictured with no drinks costed $70. We saw they increased the weight of the brisket and charged us for it.... I understand that you can't get rounded weights but it would be nice to have known.<br/><br/>All in all, I'd probably give the food a 3.5/5 but the complete lack of service left a lot to be desired.
Michele
This place is awesome. We ordered pastrami, pulled pork, sausage, beef rib, mac & cheese, tater tots, burnt end beans, chipotle mayo and espresso BBQ sauce and a pickle! It sounds like a lot of food and it definitely was. Got too excited and ordered too much. The meat was all delicious, especially the beef ribs which were falling apart. The mac & cheese was just like the stuff my mum used to make & the burnt end beans were packed full of flavour. The beer is excellent, too. Highly recommend wearing elasticated pants.

I've always been a fan of Brothers Beer and on a lazy Sunday arvo a few weeks ago I thought I'd give the new brewery and Juke Joint a go, I'm super glad I did.

This is a really nifty place in an unsuspecting location. Initially I thought Google Maps had lead me to the wrong place, a residential street is the last place I thought I would find a brewery and BBQ joint. However they definitely make it work, the space is seriously large with heaps of seating inside and out and cool decor. Having said this it is quite popular so it is worth going early as we found out when we were unable to nab a table for a good 30 mins. In regards to the food I thought the meat was divine, I had the beef rib and it was cooked to perfection. As a coeliac I was kind of bummed at the lack of gluten free options. I was also quite disappointed with the service at the BBQ Joint, I hate being that person who has to ask for gluten free and when I asked if they did have any options the guy was pretty sarcastic and rude about the fact they didn't. They also charged me for all the options I ticked of my order form however I realised half way through my meal they hadn't actually given me some of the sauces I requested. The brewery made up for that though, with a great selection of craft beer and friendly staff. Would definitely come here again, but hopefully the service at the BBQ Joint would be a bit nicer.

We've been to Juke Joint many times now and loved everything every single time. I cannot sing their praises high enough and I will recommend them as the place to be in Mt Eden to anyone who asks. <br/>The staff are super friendly and accommodating (thanks for sending ribs home with my drunk boyfriend even though your kitchen was closed, I loved them!) and they're always willing to help. The place is fairly small but the outside area is great to sit and drink and have something to eat (the brewery on the same premises means there's always something to suit everyone's tastes). Their takeaway is fantastic if you can't find a seat and there's a park just down the road.<br/>All the meats I've tried so far have been fantastic so if you want to order some meat with sides or go for one of their sandwich options, you're sure to find something tasty. Their sausage sandwiches are fantastic. They offer a great range of sauces and if you're not a meat eater then their sides are great for making up a meal! The Mac and Cheese is VERY cheesy, the tater tots are epic and they offers greens if you're feeling like you need something a little healthier.<br/>Also, their presentation is amazing considering it's not stupidly fancy food. Also, we spent $35 for two for two sandwiches and a side each which is great, especially in this area.<br/><br/>Food - 10/10<br/>Service - 10/10<br/>Atmosphere - 10/10<br/>Price - 10/10

I eat at Juke Joint regularly so this review is based on all my visits. This place has no street presence and is tucked away behind Mt Eden Train station. You will not just happen to pass by so they rely only on word of mouth and social media. <br/><br/>I really like their food and casual style and because I live and work close by, it has fast become one of my favourites. They sell out early so I would recommend coming at lunch rather than take a gamble for dinner as their most popular meats like brisket sell out quick. We’ve visited a few times for dinner only to find they were completely sold out.<br/><br/>The decor is a mix between kiwana retro kitsch and industrial chic. It works for me. Family friendly with a sand pit in the corner of the courtyard, I can see this being a popular place to grab a meal and a beer. The American BBQ presentation might take some getting used to so be prepared that you’ll have to fill in a form and pay at the counter and that your meal comes on metal trays. This is far from fine dining.<br/><br/>Meat is sold by weight, so allow about 150 grams of meat per person. I’ve tried everything on the menu except for the chicken (which only comes in halves). My favourites are the brisket, beef rib, pastrami and sausage. I’ve had both juicy and dry pork rib here so it can be inconsistent, perhaps the meat dries out easily on standing. <br/><br/>The sauces are yummy and you’ll probably want to try a bunch of them, feel free to take them home if you don’t finish them. I do. The tots are an easy crowd pleaser (just don’t get them to go as they will be squishy by the time you get home). I really like the green beans, but some others didn’t so much. The burnt end beans are really tasty, but too salty, so best in a bun or mixed with mac and cheese or other mild dish to soften the flavour. The vegetable skewers are delicious and a good option for vegetarians who must have been dragged in.<br/><br/>I wish they would offer smaller portions of their sides as some are more like condiments than side dishes. For example an ice cream size scoop of sauerkraut or a scoop of burnt end beans would be more than enough, though their large tater tots are not nearly enough, though $10 seems steep for tater tots. <br/><br/>Best to come with 2 or more friends, order a bunch of stuff and share. We spend between $20 to $40 depending on what we order. If you are on a budget, their sandwiches are nice and filling and great if you're dining solo. I’ll be back. For lunch....and beer.

Great beer and great space.  Went on a Thursday night around 7.30 and by the time we placed our order around 20 minutes later they had sold out of all but 2 of their meats.  We ordered lots of the sides - all tasty although we found the sauerkraut a bit on the bland side.  Had the last 100 g of beef rib which was delicious, and some pulled pork, which again we found a little bland - tried lots of the sauces (kimchi bbq sauce and chipotle mayo - yum!).  Would go back for the beer, but wouldn't rely on the food in case it sold out again.  Unexpectedly busy that night perhaps??

This place has an awesome atmosphere. It is in the Brothers Beer brewery so provides a really cool space for after work drinks if you are in the neighbourhood. Beer is good of course with a really great range of different crafts. For food we ordered beef brisket and pastrami burgers, tater tots, ribs and mac cheese. Burgers are super delicious and simple, tater tots are crispy but I probably wouldn't bother with the ribs again. All in all a cool chilled out place for beers and delicious fast food - great for groups!
Alas
Very nice setup with a brewery and retro feel. Lots of random 70's 80's memorabilia and old sofas etc! Pretty cool! The meat meals are pretty good, but get ready to use up most of your credit card balance. Meat is served by weight. So can be very pricey when you consider $7.00 for 100gm of ribs, which is pretty much bones (you get 2 bones of skinny meat on it for $7). One smoked sausage was $7.50. We turned up at 12pm, the 'brisket' was not ready (need to prep better). I am glad I guess, they were $12 per 100 grams. Can't say there is any service, as its pretty much get it yourself. If there is a queue at the meat station, you will be waiting a while as is prepared in front of you and then pay there. Should really pay first, get a number then take a seat and they bring the food. I might as well get paid to do the work. Then the beers were also quite pricey considering they were only half pints (about 330mls), around $9 depending on the brew. The sides were actually the better of the meals. Had the collard greens. Very good. The 'Chicken Wings' and Tater Tots was probably the only good value. Its a pity as the place has potential. They just need to re-evaluate their price point in terms of buying food by weight and providing food service to tables. Its not a market.<br/>04/03/2016 - Since my last review, it has improved immensely, <br/><br/>There is a $20 lunch special - Sandwich, small side and a beer. Great work guys and gals. Not sure if this is limited period, but they should keep it.<br/><br/>Will definitely be coming again. Also service and food is on the mark now. <br/><br/>Much much better.

After getting a recommendation from a friend we decided to take the family out for lunch for a bit of BBQ.  We arrived early, at 11.30am (little kids don't do late lunch) to find a small restaurant as part of Brothers Brewery in Mt Eden, on one side of an open courtyard with covered eating area on the other side.  There was a sand pit stocked with toys to keep the youngsters occupied.  Sadly the brisket, which is the way I like to judge BBQ joints, was not ready.  We opted for a pastrami sandwich, mutton sandwich, pulled pork and macaroni cheese.  The pastrami sandwich was tasty, the meat well flavoured and tasting great with mustard and sauerkraut.  I had the mutton sandwich, which was a revelation.  Mutton is not seen often on menus these days but it was intensely flavoured and combined well with a chipotle mayo sauce.  The pulled pork had a nice sauce, sadly the kids didn't like the mac n cheese which had a slight bite to it that didn't appeal to their tastes.  The food was very good, but JJ is not cheap, two sandies mac n cheese pickles and two extra orders of meat cost a shade over $50, but the taste was authentic.  On the way out I got food envy seeing another diner with his brisket burger and tater tots.  Oh well, you have to have something to look forward to next time, and I've got to get that brisket

Went here last night with my niece and nephew. Service was the best I have encountered in a while. The place was packed when we arrived so there was no seating available. The staff created a seating space for us to wait until a table arrived. When we did get seated they recommended how much food we should ordered. We had the pulled pork, sausage, pastrami and chicken and for the sides we had mac n cheese, tater totes, burnt end beans and buns. The pulled pork was juicy and perfectly spiced, the sausage was amazing, the pastrami was to die for and the chicken was the only small let down, a little dry. The mac n cheese was perfect in texture and taste, tater totes are amazing and the beans were yummy and flavorful! <br/><br/>I will be back to try all the other yummy items on the menu! Thank you for a wonderful night.

This place is off the courtyard of Brothers Brewery in Mount Eden. Very cool place to have an ale and some strong flavoured meats. Get your wallet out as they know how to charge, you will be lucky to get a rib, for $7. Flavours are very tasty and multiple sauce choices are available. Is a bit like going to a butcher/ deli, but for cooked meats that are weighed and priced up. Ribs are on the spicy side. This place is worth a visit and especially if you like brewery bars.<br/><br/>Visited this place again yesterday March 17th, got the pulled pork sandwich and side of mac cheese, average food on this visit, mac cheese was super sloppy runny, not the kind of thing you want with a beer. I think they need to look at different accompanying carb options as the tater tots are oily and seem just like a frozen food fry up and mac cheese is just slop, just a suggestion!

Had heard of this place from a friend and was interested to try it out as i had tried a similar restaurant to this a while ago and didnt enjoy it! What a difference between the 2! Loved this place! The location is pretty random and defo needs more parking! Anyway, the style of this place is wicked! Warehouse with lots of random memorabilia and old sofas etc! Pretty cool! It was sort of busy in there when we went and that was a tuesday or wednesday! We wasnt too sure what to do when we walked in and nobody greeted us and we stood around for a few minutes until someone told us what to do! So we found a seat and found our pot of pencils and menus at the table. The idea is you put the quantity of the meat and sides onto your menu, take it to the chef and they prepare it there for you! I liked that idea! We went a little overboard and defo didnt need all the food we ordered! We got ribs, pulled pork, chicken sandwich, brisket, mac and cheese and tater tots. Was $100 all together. The food tasted great and there was plenty of it! We were stuffed by the end of it! I loved the pulled pork it was soo nice! The tater tots were a little bit salty but still good! My friends also enjoyed their food and didnt finish it all. I tried their coleslaw and it was really yummy! Wish i had room for that too! All in all it was a good experience and really nice food and i will defo be back!

Great spot! Very well done with the combination of brothers brewery and the meat joint. We tried for of the meats (mutton, sausage, pastrami and beef) and all were excellent. The collard greens are really yummy and its worth getting a couple of sauces on the side. Really quick service. Awesome outside seating area.

Nice spacious space and cool setting but it leaves something to be desired. Had Beef brisket - which was slightly dry and the pork ribs - which were tasty but not much meat on the bone (that's a travesty considering they sell it by weight). Price to quality + quality ratio didn't match up.

There's a certain satisfaction with Juke Joint BBQ being half exactly as expected and half a bit different. <br/>Merged with Brother Beer, this "renovated" warehouse serves as an eatery, a bar, and a brewery. I say renovated with hesitance because there's nothing like a little exposed brick, pre-fab industrial decor and gentrified second hand furnishings that make alternative folk flock! And it was sure busy! <br/><br/>I'm not gonna lie, it definitely pushed all the right buttons for me.. They did it right. <br/><br/>The menu is simple; broken down into sections of meats, sauces, sandwiches, cold sides and hot sides. Tick what you want, wait 5 minutes and voila, you have your cafeteria tray full with fresh meaty goodness.<br/><br/>Coming from a herbivore-turned-omnivore.. (I have never been a huge fan of meat in general).. I actually really enjoyed all of what I tried. The meat was beautiful. The sauces were interesting. And the tater-tots... Well.. Tater-tots. No explanation needed. <br/><br/>It's family friendly, and is somewhere I'd recommend taking a group keen relax over a few brews and tasty ribs.

Nice open light space, with a good oaked Chard on the menu. Beer ok, food ok, they could consider a big bigger portion for price, a few more options (esp. Vege) and the signature Rib's were not the melt-in-mouth type that you get at good rib joints in US. Bit dry but the spice and sauce was good. Also some small 'side' sharing plates and wet-wipes would be great for with ribs. Consider bibs??

The brewery is spacious and has a nice outdoor area with kids play area. Great place for a drink but the food was disappointing. Pork ribs were tough and didn't have much meat on it. Beef brisket and pastrami sandwiches lacked flavour and meat was also tough. I'd recommend the beef ribs and tatars with your drinks.

We had a quick week night meal here. Slightly underwhelming atmosphere with a lack of bar staff but I think they are both intentional as its American style diner and you order at the counter. A really good place to grab A few drinks and sit on some funky sofas with sharing plates of delicious meat and easy sides. We got smoked brisket which was more similar to corned beef that I am used to..., pulled pork and dinner rolls which were amazing, perfectly seasoned pork ribs, tator tots (must have) and a whole heap of delicious sauces. Good place for a group to hang out for a couple hours if you manage to get a sofa. Will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu and the other beers

What a cool little place. This is the newest addition to the Brothers Beer foray into food with a bar/eating area within the brewery itself. An interesting mixture of modern and industrial. The place has comfortable lounge seats and friendly staff that are willing to just have a yarn. The menu system on their part is genius. Tick and bash what you would like (a pretty good selection of bbq meat in theory), and go up to a canteen to watch them make it in front of you. The place was even kid friendly which was awesome to see. The prices were a tad expensive for the food but understandable for the establishment. $12 bux for a sandwich and meat by the 100g. The only reason I wouldnt give it 5 is that they kept running out of food! The beef brisket and a few other key selections were all gone. And from a chat with the chef, these always sell out early on in the day. This establishment is just finding their feet, but it could be a good thing to focus on moving forward.

Beer and Meat. A brilliant combination that doesn't need to be complicated - just done well.<br/><br/>Having been only open a day, I expected Juke Joint BBQ to have a slightly "flustered" feel about the place the day I arrived. But like any man behind the grill, Juke Joint kept their cool and impressed.<br/><br/>Perfect for the warming weather, Juke Joint provides us suburban dwellers with a place to grab a beer and bite straight of the barbie. <br/><br/>A little heads up though, this place isn't going to feature in Metro's Cheap Eats anytime soon. Prices are pretty steep but the saucy ribs and crispy hash bites make it all the better. <br/><br/>Stocked with all our favourite Brothers Brewery beer, afternoons have never been so good. <br/><br/>Once this place starts kicking off (and it will) we'll lose Mt Eden's current best kept secret. So my advice is to check it out now before you're stood waiting for a table. <br/><br/><br/>
