Review Mellow Coffee & Dessert - Auckland Central

Always busy and bit of a tight space inside but delicious bingsu. Highly recommend ordering the fruit ones. Always refreshing. Love that I can order caramel macchiato here. This is one of my favorite drinks, and they were the only ones I know of that serve it. Oreo crepe cake was average.

We stopped by for dessert for their shaved ice. They also had the rolled ice cream and other cakes in the cabinet. They had quite a few flavours for all the different ice creams. We went for the mango and taro shaved ice. It was surprising that the shaved ice also came with a huge tower of soft serve. The flavours of both were quite nice. I found the mango one to be a bit tart but still nice. The taro had a really nice flavour to it. The ice was also a bit different to normal shaved ice, it was almost stretchy and feathery. It was also quite a large bowl, easy enough to serve two to more people.

Shared the large chocolate shaved ice with 3 other friends.. It was pretty big! We didn't get to fully finish the plate. It was a bit too sweet for me too (which I should have anticipated). Definitely a good place to come grab a small bite to cool off with your friends in the warmer months. The ladies serving were also very nice. The taro and strawberry are my favourite flavours and I highly recommend them! I think a small is perfect for 2 people and a medium would easily suffice 4. Will come back here again.

Cute place with affordable and gorgeous desserts and cheesecakes! They have a lot of Asian flavours like matcha and green tea - if you're scared to try those go with the mainstream ones! They also have free wifi and roomy space and power outlets, would be cute to study here.

I was brought here to try the shaved ice, and boy was it good. Though, it seemed a bit too much for even two of us to share (and caused a lot of brain freeze). There's a nice relaxing atmosphere here as well.

By far the best shaved ice I tasted. My friend ordered the Mango shaved ice and coming from the Philippines were mangoes are the best in my opinion, this is by far my favorite. A must try, not too sweet, just perfect for the summer. Plus it is great for sharing.

I’ve going to this place for more than 6yrs now and their ice shave still have the same taste and portion. Staff are nice and service is quick.

A neat dessert shop with a range of cakes and shaved ice, perfect for a post-dinner indulgence! Decent matcha red bean cheesecake. Slightly too sweet for my taste and the matcha flavour wasn’t very strong, but the red bean base was nice. Didn’t get to try the shaved ice but it looked really good.

This is an amazing cafe! We like the interior design, the mood and ambiance of the cozy environment! The cake and pastry out of this world! We, the students of University of Auckland always hang around around here to discuss our economic projects or research papers. world! We the university student always hang . Highly recommend it to all in Auckland, New Zealand

Just came in for a cold drink today. I thought the Kiwiade looked interesting so I decided to give it a shot. It's basically a kiwifruit version of a lemonade. Was quite sweet and bubbly and ice cold so it hit the spot. The kiwifruit pieces were nice :) The decor of this place is sort of cute if not a bit all over the place. The table where we sat was very slightly sticky too. Overall I was happy with the drink on a hot day!

Went last week 24th of May 2018 in the High Street shop, closing time clearly stated 10pm staff came up to the table i was sitting on and said they were closing and reached out to my coffee at 9:50pm to take it away for cleaning. Think thats not what customer service is for, would understand if it was at 10 but that was very rude for them to just reach out for my unfinished coffee to take it away just because it is closing time. Dont think ill be ever visiting this place again

This was my first time at the mellow cafe, the cafe itself has a really inviting decor. Something really unique. The colors of tourquoise green give the cafe a really good feel. We ordered a flat white and a hot chocolate. The coffees were excellent nice and hot. We later decided to order food as well. Mushroom with ciabatta and omelette with ciabatta. The meals did take some time to come, but were worth the wait. Two girls at the service counter were very friendly and the smiles were good to see. Will definitely come again and maybe bring some friends along with me. Thanks mellow cafe. You're doing great.

Went on Sunday morning and ate the banana pancakes with bacon. It was SO good! The little dish of soft serve ice cream was just a bonus and added to an already totally flavoursome dish. Lovely and clean, bright and friendly.

Love the cheesecake. Appreciate too that we can hang out. No pressure to leave right after finishing our meal.

Superb! awesome green tea and strawberry shaved ice :)

Finally got to try the Ice Cream after how long. So good!!

The staffs were very friendly and the coffee was good :) Can't wait for my next visit!!

Eating here really fulfilled my shaved ice craving. The portion was absolute huge and we shared between 3 people. It was a very nice strawberry flavour and I kept shovelling it into my mouth despite how cold it was. I just wish that the entire menu was available and I’m not sure why my first choice wasn’t available at the time.

Omg the best place for cheese cakes and cakes in general ! Quick service, friendly staff but to much to choose from.
Tony Ma
Quick and fast. They have seats outside too if you need to smoke or vape. Friendly service and convenient location.

2/5 overall <br/>3/5: for cakes <br/>OhREO good cakes.<br/>[This is one of those Asian dessert places that every Asian has probably been to lol. I must say though, I’m a sucker for shaved ice but unfortunately either Mellow’s shaved ice has gone downhill or I’ve gotten too picky, or both. But I was disappointed after trying their matcha shaved ice recently. I’m usually someone that could finish a M size bowl by myself but I couldn’t even finish it & I was sharing with a friend. It was sadly not even matcha flavoured, just had some matcha powder sprinkled on top. Something was just off, their drinks weren’t great either. But hey, their Oreo crepe cake is here to save the day. The berry one is not as good; fruit doesn’t taste fresh but it wasn’t bad. I do actually feel like there’s a bit too much cream but I’m someone that doesn’t like cream to begin with so I may be biased. I have tried their matcha cheesecake too which I liked. People here are super friendly though. <br/>-> BE BACK OR BACK AWAY? If you want good matcha shaved ice, back away. If you want a nice quality cup of drink, back away. You keen for some cake, then come here & try theirs. I’ll probably be back because it’s a nice place to chill but I would only order the Oreo crepe cake & cheesecakes. (I do enjoy their cakes but also not completely over the moon about it). This place will always hold a special place in my heart because it stores many memories but sadly just ain’t for it now. Mellow, I’ll miss you.]

Really don’t understand the hype of this place. Apart from the lovely setting, the cheesecakes were of such a poor standard. The Oreo cheesecake was so light and airy, it had a whipped cream consistency. The caramel cheesecake was better, more dense but the biscuit base was too thick and bready. Not even close to what a New York cheesecake is supposed to taste like! Try Federal delicatessen’s New York cheesecake and the pie piper for a classic, dense, hearty NY cheesecake with berry choices.

🍰In terms of crepe cakes and cheesecakes, @citymellow is one of our top choices. Innovative flavors such as taro, matcha or even cranberry & yoghurt. Consistent high quality even when we order via online delivery apps. I happen to take some shots when the staff was making shaved ice dessert, swipe 👈🏻 to see the shots.⠀<br/>⠀<br/>We used @evouchapp and got their 𝑴𝒂𝒕𝒄𝒉𝒂 & 𝑹𝒆𝒅 𝑩𝒆𝒂𝒏 𝑪𝒉𝒆𝒆𝒔𝒆𝒄𝒂𝒌𝒆 which is my all time favorite! Soft and cheesy, with strong matcha flavor just the way I like it! Good amount of red bean on the bottom which adds more sweetness. 🍪The 𝑶𝒓𝒆𝒐 𝑪𝒓𝒆𝒑𝒆 𝑪𝒂𝒌𝒆 was also just as mouth watering. Creamy, slightly sweet and extremely difficult to resist😂⠀

One of my favourite dessert places in Auckland. Their cheesecakes are to die for. Their long open hours also means you can come for a morning coffee and sweet treat or satisfy a late night craving. For drinks, please try their kiwi ade! I’ve converted so many friends, that stuff is amazing!
Alice
I liked their all cakes! Nice location on high street. Easy to visit. Friendly staff

Rating 3.0 Stopped by after dinner to pick up some desserts to go. Waited for a while before being served as the only staff serving was busy making the rolled ice cream. The double cheese cake looked so fluffy and nice in the cabinet, but it didn’t travel well. Had it after 20 mins, the cheese was melted, it was like brioche bread with cream cheese in between. Wish I gotten the ice cream instead.
Foodfaker
The food texture was sticky and the table was dirty. They didn't have a high chair as well

I love Korean style shaved ice!!! This one is authentic and also if lucky enough, you can meet the handsome oppa there.

My partner and I were craving something sweet and wondered into Mellow. To our surprise they have a fantastic selection of delicious desserts. We ordered an Oreo Crepe Cheesecake and the Taro Latte! Very generous serving sizes, great for sharing between two. Will definitely be back again.

The staff members played Birthday songs when they found out it was my birthday 😊 super sweet gesture that made our night 😊
Renie
We had the mango cheesecake and caramel cheesecake. The mango cheesecake was a wow! It was amazing and would definitely return just to have it again. The decoration of the cafe is lovely with nice cushions and seats. Service was also good.
Ems
Love the menu and food they serve here. I personally think this store has some of the best shaved ice around the area plus they have other treats that are equally delicious like their rolled ice cream and crepe cakes. Perfect place to eat with friends

I can see why this place is packed, even on the weeknights. This is a great place to catch up with friends over a sweet treat. I highly recommend the matcha and red bean shaved ice. The strawberry one was also tasty.<br/><br/>Portions are colossal so be sure to share with a friend or two or make sure to specify that you would like smaller portions. I only realised after we paid that there were smaller portions on offer.
The Kai King
I can’t even begin to explain how delicious and amazing the Mango Shaved Ice. Cream, sweet with fresh juicy mangos. The price is pretty expensive $15.50, but for the amount you get, it’s worth it. Highly recommended.
LilianMonaghan
I had the almond crepe cheesecake which was good but after you finished half of it, you definitely gonna feel a bit sick because of the heavy and fatty cream. My friends had the matcha cheesecake which was okay but very spongy not soft and creamy. And the taro didn’t taste like taro at all. Got a bit disappointed for the dessert.
Jonathan Chau
This place is pretty Asian but I promise you can get the best baked cheesecake in town. By that, I mean in NZ. <br/><br/>I’ve been a faithful and loyal slave to Mellow for almost 5 years now (ever since its grand opening) and I have tried cheesecake all over the country (and outside) but I come to a conclusion that I haven’t yet found anywhere (other than my own kitchen haha) that does cheesecake better than Mellow. They know how to bake a cheesecake and bake it well. <br/><br/>You can find shaved ice and things elsewhere too, and also I’m always out of luck whenever I order rolled ice cream because the trainee always fails it. But it tastes nice so alg...<br/><br/>Anyways, I’m so glad Mellow is still up and running well since it first opened ! Long live Mellow 😆😆

I LOVE CREPE CAKES AND DESSERTS 😍 Me and my friend were both on a green tea and red bean vibe ✨ If it has Matcha and red bean in it... That means it's healthy right?! 🤔 Tried the Matcha and red bean crepe cake from Mellow ($8). The service was so lovely! The two workers were very friendly and had great customer service 😍 The slice was HUGE for $8! I had a huge Thai meal beforehand but having the crepe cake sitting in front of me sparked my hunger again 😍 I had my first bite and it just tastes like cream.. I was so confused 🤔 I couldn't taste any matcha flavour at all. The layers of crepe were inconsistent, some parts soft and some parts were hard as though it had been sitting there for awhile. I'm a HUGE fan of red bean and this red bean was just meh. I was screaming on every plane of existence because the service was amazing and the cafe is cute but this cake let me down man. I wouldn't recommend this crepe cake flavour to anyone 😩 Tried to finish the whole thing because I'm Asian and momma didn't raise a quitter 😤👊🏼 But towards the end the cream and crepe just started feeling really greasy and gross. My wallets crying and so am I 😭😭😭 Crepe cake rating: 0/10 😭<br/><br/>Ambience: 8/10 ✨<br/><br/>Customer service: 10/10 🔥

Always been wanting to try this place ever since I heard that they had taro cheesecake, finally got around to it and would definitely go again. Cheesecake and ice cream were delicious. Staff are great, will be back soon to try their Taro Latte and other items.

A quiet, cute cafe spot in the middle of town near Chancery. The desserts here are delicious and not too pricey, although definitely more of a treat than a regular spot.<br/><br/>I would recommend the seasonal fruit shaved ice, although the fruit is canned and not fresh, the dessert still tastes amazing. The servings for the shaved ice are pretty big and a glass is more than enough to share between two as a treat (though I can finish one myself as they are just that good!) The cakes are also pretty good and averagely priced for cake in town (around $7.5-8.5 per slice).<br/><br/>Overall, a good spot to get some dessert post-dinner or during the day with friends or to get some work done. They offer free internet and usually aren't too full. The ambience is very calm and the seats are comfy with seat cushions.

Tried the caramel crumble cheesecake and thought it was good. Would like to go back and try the stone mixed ice cream which I hope resembles the American “cold stone” franchise.
Tez
Awesome cafe. Totally love their shaved ice. I wish they can have all the flavors especially taro and matcha available on the glass size though.
Lily
Went and tried the original baked cheesecake after seeing a few reviews. The cheesecake had more of a cheesy taste, the base tasted non existent. It’s okay for the price, but it’s incomparable to the likes of The Fed or Fraser’s.
Bunny 🐰
a great cafe in the city! it’s really comfortable in terms of the atmosphere and i love coming here to get the rolled ice cream 🍦 sometimes it seems as tho the employees leave cups and stains on the tables for a while before it gets cleaned up but food and atmosphere wise, it is nice and worth going
May Hung
The stone ice cream !!! It’s so good, we ordered the strawberry flavour and we can taste fresh strawberries, not overly sweet , just great! The taro ice is HUGE, we couldn’t finished between the 3 of us ... it’s not bad but I think I will try the mango version next time
Sorry_vonguenumber
This dessert place is good. Love the shaved ice. Especially the taro shaved ice and the strawberry shaved ice. <br/>Service is simple but friendly.

Two friends and I decided to come to Mellow for a post exam sweet treat. I had the mocha cheesecake. It was quite sweet and very filling. A cute little cafe! Recommend for sure :)
Lum Lum
Excellent range of desserts in various yummy flavours for all the kinds of sweet cravings you might have! <br/>I’m keen to come back to try out their other cheesecake flavours and beverages 🤤 <br/><br/>If you’re coming to try the stone ice cream, it’s honestly just regular ice cream, and only the great thing is watching it get made ha. <br/><br/>they offer blankies for you too 😮💓

Had dinner across the road and decided to end the cold night with a good hot chocolate and shaved mango ice! Nice service. Love the fact that it’s open late, would definitely come back to have a slice of their cheesecake and coffee.
A.K
My go to dessert place. I usually used to eat their original cheescake but then their crepes where just too good to resist. For some it may be abit too much but I have a deep love for whipped cream and they deliver lol. We had the almond crepes and theyre so nice 😭 probably my favourite out of the other ones! Also the size of it is so big for the price which is either $7 or $7:50. I would recommend to share or get a takeaway box hha. For drinks we had the Iced choc which is just as good and they’re not stingy with their chocolate so thats always nice.
💓 K
Really cute store and desserts, love their stone roll ice cream and love watching them make it! Shaved ice and cakes from the cabinet is yum too! Clean store great service.
Grace
I always come here to get shaved ice with my friends. The mango one is our fave. 👯‍♀️🥭 Definitely share though, the portions are at least for 2 peeps (in my opinion) :D <br/>I would happily try the cheesecakes next time. They look so good!
Yanting Tan
nice place with good service, the cheese cake is amazing~ stone ice cream looks so cute~ i perfer the cheese falvor stone ice cream~i will back to try other flavor again!
Grace Huang
Cute and aesthetic dessert shop for the gram.<br/><br/>Service: 7/10<br/>Most things are self service so the workers didn’t make a deep impression on me.<br/>They were super patient when we took ages to take our order because we were indecisive.<br/>The desserts don’t take a long time to be served but it’s mostly ready-made anyways.<br/><br/>Food: 6/10<br/>I ordered the caramel crumble cheesecake and strawberry snow ice.<br/>The cheesecake was a little floppy and didn’t really look as good as in the picture. The base was quite greasy and soggy, it didn’t really have a crumbly texture. The crumble on top was a little better. The filling was very creamy and thick. The caramel flavour was pretty evident.<br/>The snow ice was very pretty. The taste was a little fake and artificial, but it was still good. The ice cream was milky and sweet, and contrasted the tartness of the strawberries.<br/><br/>Ambiance: 9/10<br/>The entire store is so cute and fashionable. The mint green colour looks so aesthetic and the furniture is adorable.<br/>The whole theme of the restaurant goes perfectly with the style of food.<br/>Everything is super clean and tidy.<br/>There are a lot of seats outdoors and indoors, and it doesn’t feel cramped at all.<br/><br/>I quite liked the cheesecake and I would like to try the other flavours.
Jenny Kim
Ordered the stone rolled ice cream & the green tea shaved ice in a cup. <br/>The rolled stone ice cream was nothing amazing, just ice cream rolled up. But I guess it was nice watching them make it haha.<br/>On the other hand, the green tea shaved ice was a lot better than what I remembered it was like when Mellow first opened years ago. The corn flakes were super crispy & not soggy. The ice cream was the high light as it was super creamy & so good!! I really like how they have a cup option now as it’s perfect size to have for an individual.<br/>I used to prefer snowman over mellow, but to be honest after this visit, prefer Mellow as they don’t drench heaps of syrup all over their shaved ice & it’s not extremely sweet.<br/>
LuNa The TuNa
They got pretty drinks and cakes. Flavour good too. Environment was clean and decor full of light blue and white, looks really refresh. My daughter loves eat dessert here.
BBW
Must try here is the double cheese bun! The cheese cake is also great~ But the cheese bun is really unique and cannot find it elsewhere.<br/>Sometimes you may find the handsome waiter😉<br/>
Emily
I always love dessert! Mellow is situated on a very good location. The scrolls are not too sweet. They are perfect, and look just how cute the coffee is! I have no complaints and wouldn't change a thing. Their snow ices are also amazing and generous.
Angelique Cagara
Went here with a friend of mine as we were both craving something sweet!<br/>The Taro cheesecake was nicely made and not too overwhelmingly sweet. My friend got a flat white whereas I got an iced chocolate which was delicious. But the main tastebud tantalizers from Mellow are the shaved ice. My friend and I had the mango shaved ice which was sooo satisfying on a hot summer day. The mango pieces were juicy and sweet and the vanilla ice cream with the mango drizzle complemented each other well. Would come here again if my sweet tooth is tingling :-)
Jenny @ga.eats
Been here a couple of times for their green tea rolled ice cream, which is great, but the one we had that night wasn’t the best looking (it was made by a trainee so fair enough, everyone’s gotta learn right?). At least it tasted good.<br/><br/>The Oreo crepe cake tasted nothing of Oreo, just plain whipped cream and the crepes themselves were stale and rubbery. There was also waaayyy too much cream to crepe... legit only like 8 layers. If you want good crepe cake just visit Fukurou Patisserie inside the Newmarket train station.<br/><br/>The first couple bites of the caramel crumble cheesecake were good, but then the taste of too much baking soda started coming through and made me gag. Some bites had a weird bitter taste that neither my friends or I could identify.<br/><br/>In the end, the rolled ice cream, made by a trainee, saved the day.
Food2belly
| Taro Latte and matcha cheesecake |<br/>-<br/>The taro Latte (9/10) was amazing, super creamy, not too sweet and not grainy at all. However went again a week later and was slightly more watery than this one. Overall amazing but can be a hit or miss.<br/>The matcha cheesecake (7.5/10) was very dense and creamy, though the cheese flavour over powered the matcha.
Caitlin
I love snow but this beats it in terms of price and flavour wise !! I’ve only tried chocolate but compared to snow the flavour is x10. The ice is chewy and soft and it’s really got a nice chocolate flavour compared to snow it’s just plain milky ice (still good tho) but mellow will be my new spot!! The price is way cheaper than snow too which is good if you’re on a budget lol
J.M-Tazzy
Had a really nice experience here at Mellow! <br/>The ambiance was super chill and it was <br/>Nice and clean! Service was also lovely!<br/>I ordered the matcha shaved ice and a taro cheesecake.<br/>The taro cheesecake was creamy and rich, both things that a cheesecake is meant to be!😍<br/><br/>The matcha shaved ice was good. Definitely had a really yummy strong matcha flavour! <br/>I loved the matcha ice on its own not so much paired with the cornflakes and the red beans. All these things I definitely love individually but I guess my tastebuds didn’t get exactly click with them altogether, but I loved the presentation of the shaved ice it looked too pretty to eat!<br/><br/>Mellow is definitely a place worth trying if you are wanting something different for dessert!<br/>I’ll definitely be back to try the Mango Shaved ice which I hear is super yummy!<br/>

We always came here after dinner to grab some desserts. Tried several cheesecake but i higly recommend the original cheesecake. Place is quite cozy to chat with friends.<br/><br/>BUT sometimes they are preparing rolled ice cream and the way they prepare it make loud banging noise that we cant almost hear one another while chatting 😂<br/><br/>I highly recommend their cheesecake 😍 it is overly sweet tho. but their original cheesecake is good for starters.
Munchy
Nice cafe setting with these cool tree stump cushions. I got the matcha shaved ice which was okaaay? Fine but not praiseworthy. There was barely any matcha and instead just a huge heaping of red beans that neither myself nor my friend could finish. In the end the shaved ice melted with the red bean to form this murky grey paste soup that was unappetising to both the eye and the stomach. The cake range did look good so I might come back and try that out but for now it’s just 3 stars. Which when I think about it truly encapsulates the name of the establishment as it simply was just ‘mellow’ or ‘meh’ for short.
The Scarfoodie
Lovely atmosphere, great variety to choose from. We ordered the taro shaved ice only in large (wish there was a smaller portion size available!), original cheesecake and green tea crepe cake. <br/><br/>Taro shaved ice<br/>Ice cream was served late, though there was something missing. Plain vanilla serve, nothing too special, I could’ve done without. Taro ice however was delicious and cooling, the flavor was completely infused into the ice and so I could not taste the ice texture, it was more reminiscent of icecream than ice to me! Condensed milk sauce looked poor in the pan it came in due to there not being a lot (maybe a smaller dish next time for it?) not a fan of the corn crisps around the ice. Overall ice was delicious, taro flavor sweet but not over overpowering, could do without the extra bits and bobs though. <br/>7/10<br/><br/>Original cheesecake<br/>Very creamy, cheesy sweet flavor! Great for price and portion. Comparable to the Fed deli NY cheesecake except it doesn’t come with extra cream or strawberries on the side and tastes slightly more cheesy. The biscuit base is a bit soggy and not crispy but that didn’t really bother me. <br/>7.5/10<br/><br/>Green tea crepe cake<br/>First time trying crepe cake! Very light and airy, great portion of cream to crepe. Just the right amount of sweetness and not bitter but still an taste the green tea. Personally not a fan of the red bean as I wasn’t expecting it, but is a nice twist in flavor if you’re not pedantic like me!<br/>7/10

Definitely a lovely place to have a cup of mocha and chatting with friends :D The environment is confortable with some good music and the service is friendly too

Such a cute place to come with friends and family. I’ve been there 4 times and I’ve liked it everytime. The shaved ice is so good and the rolled icecream is pretty nice too. I’ve also had the cheesecake and crepe cake. Would definitely recommend coming here. The service is good, the girl serving us was nice and polite.

Went to mellow 3 times around the span of 2 weeks and can confidently say I will be returning more often next year after my uni classes. Tried most of their cheesecake flavours (mocha, matcha, taro, caramel crumble, Oreo, coconut brownie) and tried 3 of their shaved ices (roasted grain, matcha and mango). The taro cheesecake has been an amazing surprise, one of the best cheesecakes they have. Their roasted grain shaved ice is also really good with red bean and roasted grain powder.
Maxine Balani
Mellow has never disappointed me with their shaved ice .. for those who like snowman I think mellow goes an extra mile as it’s not only ice with toppings. Mellow has their flavours infused with ice with amazing texture as it just melts in your mouth! 💯
Steve Shipway
A great range of frozen desserts as well as some savoury food and many drinks. Fun to watch the ice cream and shaved ice desserts being made.
Alisa Wang
Cakes? Pancakes? Or rocks<br/>Sweet? Creamy? Or Steamed Bun<br/>Sorry, I shouldn’t have compared them together, as good Steam Buns are actually very fluffy, soft and Yummy!
Paris Perry
Coming to Mellow is definitely worth it! The options that they had was really good, I really enjoyed the one in the picture as it was really delicious! The portion is quite large (I’m not complaining though 😍) so if you have a small appetite it would be good to come in with some friends and share! The atmosphere was good and I’d recommend this to anyone!
Omkar Shinde
I tried caramel crumble cheesecake and Oreo crepe cake, it was delicious but the cheesecake didn’t fulfill my expectations, it did lack caramel taste. The Oreo crepe cake was very tasty. The ambiance is good there.
Julie Lam
Had the green tea crepe cake. The slice was a generous size, however was composed of mostly just cream and very few layers of actual crepe. The layer of red bean at the bottom added a nice touch to the cake though.
Ronagrail Totanes
I really enjoyed the taro latte and taro cheececake. The sweetness is just right. There are many other food options to choose from. It was really hard to choose because everything looks good.
Ancy_02
Loveeeddd the matcha flavoured shaved ice from my first visit. 4 days later I went back with friends and we tried the Taro flavour. It was sooo gooodd!! We will definitely go back and try everything 😋
Ayaan Shaikh
Good place to grab some shaved ice, they have a ton of different flavors and each have their merits. The chocolate shaved ice is okay, its not as flavorsome as the others but not too bad either. They also have a pretty good selection of cakes which are quite tasty.
Rae
Great cafe on high street with really good cheesecake but the best shaved ice ever. They have the really popular rolled ice cream as well giving the store a huge selection in desserts and drinks to choose from.
Calvin
Came here coz snowman was closed, had a seasonal grit shaved ice, was very fulfilling, really liked the ice cream bit on top. was good overall. <br/><br/>Dessert- 8.5/10 <br/>Aesthetics- 8.5/10 <br/>Service- 8.5/10

BEST cheesecake ever! The cafe has really nice interiors and good space but I was here just for the cheesecakes! Really good variety of cheesecakes, I tried the original NY baked cheesecake and it's the best I've ever had. I've had cheesecakes at cafes like the gateau etc but this one is hands down a winner. Perfectly dense, mild sweetness and it's a big chunk of cake! I couldn't finish it on my own, a steal for the price.<br/><br/>I could have given it 5 stars but the girl who served me was unbelievably rude and indifferent. I said thank you and smiled, she just walked away like that. I was very disappointed but then I was there for the cake so I didn't mind much. I do understand that staffs are human and they have their bad days but this is definitely not good for business.<br/><br/>I hope the management doesn't let this attitude of their staff dampen their cheesecake goodness! The cafe is really good and it can become even better if those delicious cheesecakes are served with a smile. :)

Coffee > this city is full of good cafes<br/>Cakes > same goes for the sweets<br/>Brunches > tons of places with in 3 min walking<br/>Mellow > when you wanna sit out & smoke after dark which is the primal reason why I come here<br/>Nothing good about this place the only good thing about it they got a soft serve machine if you like it on your dessert menu and their location is very good and handy
Hope 🥰
Pretty good dessert place. A little pricey for what you get. Definitely better dessert places in Auckland CBD. Sometimes a little busy. Overall nice place to go.
Thom
I come to mellow every a few weeks. Back then I would come almost every week. Their matcha and taro shaved ice is two of my few favourites around here. Quality control is needed though as to my disappointment last week the soft serve reeked of out-of-date dairy. Took it off the plate and finished the ice. Cheesecakes tend to be eggy and you could tell the batter is uneven. I've had some unpleasant experiences but nevertheless still a really nice place I like to chill in.
Benz Chan
Their cheesecakes were a little bit bland and dry, so I could not finish a slice of green tea and red bean cheesecake that I ordered. My colleagues had the same comment on their ones, too. I took a slice of taro and Oreo cheesecakes for my wife and mom-in-law. Both of them seemed to like it and had no trouble downing the above average size of the cakes.<br/><br/>Their mango shaved ice was quite nice, but the frosty that went with it had an odd taste (sour).<br/><br/>

I used to come here a fair bit back in the high school days to get their Shaved Ice. I spontaneously visited again on Saturday night and got their Green Tea Shaved Ice, Salted Caramel Cheesecake and Matcha Mille Crepe! <br/><br/>Everything came out super fast! The Shaved Ice was generously filled with red beans and a tall swirl of ice cream, and satisfyingly topped with crunchy cornflakes. The snow ice itself was not as soft as anticipated but was still delightful nevertheless! <br/>The salted caramel cheesecake had me swooning for more! Decadent and strong without being overwhelming sweet or cheesy and melts away in the mouth. The sugar biscuit topping added the perfect balance of textures too! The taste was the first thing I thought about when I woke up the next morning! <br/>The slice of Mille Crepe was huge! However it was a bit too creamy for me; I found the cream to Crepe ratio a bit disproportional and sickly (albeit perhaps that was because I had too much dessert in one sitting). The red bean layer in the centre was a nice touch to balance out the cream! I would try the Oreo Crepe next time! <br/><br/>Three desserts only set me back by $25 between 2 and we left very satisfied! This place also serves as a popular study joint because they have free wifi! They also have breakfast paninis, stone ice cream and drinks! <br/><br/>Food: 10/10<br/>Price: 10/10<br/>Ambience: 9/10<br/>Service: 9/10

One of my favourite cafes in Auckland CBD! Love their Cheesecakes and Stone Ice Cream! I've tried the Oreo Crepe Cake, Oreo Cheesecake, Chocolate Fudge Cheesecake, Hot Chocolate and Strawberry Shaved Ice, and they were all yum :)
Romana Petrie
Yummy cheesecake! Today I tried the caramel crumble cake which was so good. My friends had other cakes that all looked amazing.<br/>The menu is filled with awesome drinks and food options which I am eager to try. Apparently the blue lemonade is amazing according to my friend so I'll have to come back and give it a go!<br/>The staff were friendly and helpful especially considering there were so many yummy options to try.<br/>Can't wait to go back.
Sophie
Such a great Auckland hang spot! Theore drinks are all gorgeous, reasonably priced, and not necessarily run of the mill. The shaved ice is so nice and soft and fluffy- so a great dessert to share after a heavy dinner! All of their cabinet desserts are pretty divine too though. They also have a really cool little charging station which I've always thought was a nice touch

Been wanting to try rolled ‘stone ice cream’ for quite some time now. My friend introduced me to mellows rolled ice cream, and it was fairly yum and as I had expected it to be. I got the brownie flavour and they basically just got a brownie and crushed it with condensed milk lol.<br/><br/>The part which really annoyed me about my visit was the appalling put off service by the fellow young lady who works there and took my order, actually my order wasn’t even taken I gave her a hello myself while she continued looking at the till and gave my order and when I asked if I could get more than one flavour just said ‘no’ while looking down again. I received no smile no greeting or any communication during my visit. For my first visit I would have liked someone to tell me where the options were and what I can order which normally the person working there should explain. <br/><br/>A huge put off unfortunately the service is 1/5 for me. <br/><br/>Rolled stone ice cream (4/5) abit to icey and cold otherwise the brownie flavour I chose tasted good. My rolled pieces were also broken at the bottom when the lady making it started putting it in my takeaway cup, the two at the top were the only ones rolled properly :(
Jay
Their rolled ice creams are delicious - they take some time to make because it requires a bit of craft, but it's totally worth it. Surprisingly well priced too.
Emma
Got a mocha cheesecake here. The cheesecake was pretty decent but probably not worth the price of $7. I’m interested to try out the mille crêpe cakes though. <br/><br/>Update: have tried the oreo crepe cake. It's very rich yet light and airy. The layers blend together smoothly and is really nice.
Gracia
Ordered the Oreo and almond crepe cakes. I do not recommend unless you love cream because these two cakes are literally all made of it.. drinks are alright, hot chocolate pretty average and hazelnut latte too. Good ambiance although can be a little intimidating going in sometimes.
Aileen
Crap service I've ever had. Rude staff with poker face. We were forced to use take away cups in cafe. However some people after us were served by dine in cups/mugs. They are usually shut at 10pm. We ordered some drinks at 9:20pm and have been told that they were closing in 40 mins. At 9:45pm, we were the only ones being told again they were going to shut at 10pm. Drinks below average. It was a nice place before changing of ownership. Here was no negative score, otherwise I will rate at minus.
Auckland Foodie
Came here for dessert and also because we wanted to use the free WiFi. It was good that the place was open even in the evening and they had an amazing selection of cakes. We tried the Green Tea cheese cake which was delicious. However the overall experience could have been better as it was quite cold inside and also the WiFi which was one of the reasons we came and is advertised on the outside did not work very well and was very slow when it did. So I ended up being a bit frustrated. Just to get a quick desert or ice cream the place is good though.
Rowan Rebecca
So delicious! A great spot, we had 2 different cheesecakes and enjoyed them both. The space is lovely and warm. Nice place to end the night in.
Storms
Mellow is my regular cheesecake haunt. They're so good without being overpoweringly rich, and there are several flavour options. The service is great, the staff are always friendly and approachable. On each table is a sign stating the wifi password, that phone chargers and blankets are available for use, and to ask the staff if you need anything else. The decor is cheerful and cute. You can get the cheesecakes in takeaway containers with forks if it suits you.

This is one of the must try dessert shop in Auckland central. I am specially fond of the crepe cakes they have. It was a fine Friday after lunch when me with my colleagues were looking for a dessert shop around. Good that some of the nearby famous dessert shops were closed on that day and we end up in Mellow. This wasn"t my first time. Last time O tried a cheesecake. This time Crepe cake. It was so delicious..optimal sweet n smooth. Will go again definitely.

Long opening hours certainly makes this little cafe stand out from the peers. Quite busy in general. Enjoyed the coffee and cheese cakes, staff are friendly and reasonably cheerful, lol
Tony Shi
Cheesecakes delicious and coffee is good as well! (Food is Instagram worthy)<br/>A few different flavours to choose from from Oreo, Caramel (pictured) to green tea and chocolate fudge.<br/>The cafe is well decorated and a nice place to hang out. Though while they make the ice it can be quite noisy.<br/>They also have stone ice cream for those interested.<br/><br/>Food: 4/5<br/>Service: 3/5<br/>Environment: 4/5

Cute place with really tasteful and mouth watering desserts with a variety of options! However, it can be quite pricey. Will definitely visit once in a while :)
Serena L
Their cheesecake used to taste so good, but recently seems like they forgot to put the cake into fridge, taste way too soft like cream......
Raj Singh
Mellow is one of my favourite places to be. A cozy location on High Street, the food and drinks here are wonderful, although they could arguably be a bit pricey. The oreo crepe cakes are a classic for us to order.<br/><br/>Gave the fudge cheesecake a go last night, definitely not something I could finish on my own. Cost works out a lot nicer when you're splitting with a friend.<br/><br/>An absolute go-to, don't see myself ever getting tired of this place.
Rosanne Choy
Came in last year for green tea rolled ice cream, chocolate cheese bun, cheesecake, chocolate and mango shaved ice. I absolutely loved the cheesecake. Environment was good. Service was great.
Japo Domingo
We happened upon Mellow accidentally when the place planned on going to was closed. We had cakes and coffee since they said the kitchen was already closed.<br/><br/>The cheesecakes were ok. A bit too sweet for my taste. The green tea crepe cake was meh. absolutely no texture. Just like eating all cream.<br/><br/>And unfortunately we found a stone in the crepe cake. Most probably an accident, just strange.
Mocha
What happened? I've been here before and it was nice but this time it was kind of a disappointing experience.. <br/><br/>Came here for brunch and we decided to give the food here a shot (paninis), cheesecake and iced mocha.<br/>Guy behind the counter didnt really understand what we were saying or know what was on the menu. There was bird poop all over the tables. There was a long hair in the food we ordered, and the salad greens that came with my order was very old... kinda couldnt believe it was on my plate.. <br/>Everything looked and tasted like the basic items you would find at a supermarket. <br/><br/>I guess its safe to say you should stick to their cheesecakes and drinks. :(<br/>
Alysha Bower
Went here with my friend for dessert and it is such a cool cafe! Everything is colorful and inviting with their multiple options all over the wall. <br/><br/>The ladies that served us were really nice and helpful in us trying to choose what we wanted. <br/><br/>We had some of the rolled ice cream. I had mango and my friend had Oreo. Was really delicious but quite sweet! <br/><br/>Would definitely go back to try one of their other dessert options!
Aimee
Place is nice and cosy, offers you blankets if you feel cold! Decors are really nice and cute! Had the original cheesecake as well as the seasonal fruits shaved ice. Service was great and staff were super friendly. Highly recommend :)
Aimee.
Gorgeous presentation for the desserts and the place itself. Lots of cute cushions and flowers around the tables. The shaved ice is delicious and portions are quite generous however the strawberry one was incredibly sweet. Oreo cake was thick and creamy.
S J
I found my favourite cheesecake here !! Went there around 9 PM, but there were still 6 or 7 different flavour of cheesecakes available in the cabinet. I think the portion size is fair enough for the price of $7 compared to other cafes. Iced coffe was also nice which was frappe type and cheap - $5.5.

Taste: 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌗<br/>Interior Deco: 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑<br/>Customer service: 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌗<br/>Recommend: 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌕<br/>MELLOW ORIGINAL CHEESECAKE is a must try!!! My favourite type of cheesecake!!!!!!! Always come here for their cheese cake! It's also my favourite place to go for shave ice!! Green tea one is my favourite! Love the milky taste in their shave ice bring everything up to the next level!
Riddhi
Rolled ice cream is super good! Ordered the strawberry, green tea and brownie. The strawberry one was the best, it didn’t have a fake taste and was nice and fresh.<br/><br/>They only have 1 ice pan which meant it took ages so not the best choice in a group as people get them quickly and they melt waiting for everyone else. Service however was really friendly. <br/><br/>
Vivienne_Moo
second time been to Mellow, intrigued by their famous taro cheesecake, topped up with another piece of mocha cheesecake as recommend by staff.<br/><br/>taro is fantastic. light texture, tasted fresh not too sweet as the way I like. mocha also is not that rich, good amount of sweetness blended with a slight of natural bitterness. with the choc garnish on top, the mocha is super photo genetic and looks irresistible.<br/><br/>love mellow will definitely be back again.
Mochi.95
Mellow is definitely a nice place to chill with your friends. The interior decorations are aesthetic and simple. I tried the Green Tea Shaved Ice with my friend and it was really nice. The shaved ice is definitely different to the ones like at Snowman Cafe. There's more flavour to it and not literally just ice. The toppings added another texture to the overall shaved ice. I will definitely come back and try their other stuff like the cheesecakes which looked extremely tempting. And hey who doesn't love a store with free WiFi!!!
Rina
Service was fast at 6:30pm on a Friday night! Lots of people, but thankfully there were still tables free for the two of us.<br/><br/>Taro cheesecake<br/>The flavor is lightly (artificial taro bubble tea type) taro, and fairly rich in texture. The base is light and cakey, and the edges of the slice are also thin and not dry! Well, if the cheesecake were a little more rare that would be nice too - perhaps the cabinet dried it out a little 🤔 all in all, not bad!
Cnjo
Cute little nook on High Street with a range of desserts. Friendly staff and well priced options. Children friendly space. Victoria st car park just around the corner.
Wandering Belly
First ever time I tried korean style shaved ice was at Mellow. If you are eating one by yourself get the glass size as other sizes are made to be shared with a group. What keeps me coming back is the calm atmosphere as well as the slightly sweet, finely shaved powder-like ice that smoothly melts in your mouth. I feel like a giant devouring a snowy mountain whenever I order one with friends. My favourite flavours were green tea and roasted grain. Occasionally I like ordering the blue lemonade because of its refreshing citrus taste and aesthetically pleasing colour.
XED 🐘
Mellow is absolutely unique. I spent nearly 10 minutes assessing each cheesecake - all seems to excite me! But I'm glad I made a good choice with a taro slice.

Yummy Cheesecakes! Love the ambiance, like their Iced-Shaved Desserts. Tried the Green Tea one and it was good. Very comfy chairs and we enjoyed our visit. ❤️🍨🍧🍵🍮☕️🍦🎂💜👅🍰
Mandy Zhao
best cheese cake in Auckland, reasonable price for students, nice and tidy coffee that is suitable for afternoon tea or studying or meeting, I will try the stone ice cream, which is looks so interesting. And kindly service as well.
Lo9ve3r 4s
The shaved ice is more like ice chips than the snowy kind. Green tea flavour is OK, ask for more condensed milk if it's not enough. Should try the crepe cake next time
Jinnie
If you ever go, don't get the seasonal shaved ice. All canned fruits, kinda gross. But the green tea was okay. ( photo of the green tea shaved ice )
Watt
Love the green tea stone ice cream/ice cream rolls! Strawberry flavoured one tasted a bit too artificial, but would recommend cookies and cream and green tea! <br/><br/>Confused about their "all day breakfast" though. When I went in at 5pm, they said they didn't do breakfast items at that time. It's not really all day breakfast then...? Maybe put a time like, breakfast is available from ____ am to ____ pm to let ppl know :)
Marggie Pascua
Tried their ice cream here, I feel like it is over hyped. I just like my ice cream normal from now on. Haven't really tried anything else here so I can't say how good or bad this restaurant is
Jeffie
I found this place looking for the best cheesecake in town, I would say for me it doesn't take the title but it's up there. Great array of flavours but you can't go too late as the selection dwindles towards closing time which is fair enough if you're running a business but it's till not easy for everyone to get there a certain time. Coffee is good too.<br/><br/>Service is your usual standard and the ambience is laid back. Felt a bit old being in there though as it seems like a hang out for uni students but that's just me.<br/><br/>*Updated* - came in for a taro latte, original cheesecake, cheese bomb and matcha ice cream. The taro latte was stand out for me and I liked it was served in a double walled glass. Cheesecake was ok, ice cream smooth/creamy and the cheese bomb filling was good but the cake around it was quite dry maybe even old.
Clairine Baharrizki
The dessert tastes amazing, i love the matcha latte here and the cheesecakes. Although customer service was average, they can be quite friendly. Also, they provide free wifi!

I've visited Mellow a few times now and they've all been a great experience. The desserts are very delicious and the café is always very lively. That being said, it does make it hard to come across a free table most times.
Veda.fermah
I ordered the stone ice cream slightly disappointed it wasn't what I hoped for. Tasted alright wasn't the best ice cream I've ever had definite close to the worse.
Li Peng
This shop Is really nice and the price Is not expensive. I ate a cranberry yoghurt cake and Mocha cheese cake which are so yummy. The staff and the boss are lovely. If I have free time, I will come back to enjoy. Thanks for this precious time. <br/>

The absolute best Asian style cheesecake I've ever had. I didn't even like cheesecake before I had this one. I had too much cheesecake at a birthday party when I was young and never really wanted to eat it again. But this place really changed my mind. <br/>The single slice is a bit pricy (around $6) but then what isn't in Auckland? The Taro and Oreo flavours are personal favourites but they always seem to be having new flavours. Their crepe cake aren't as good as the cheesecake, but it's still worth a try. Personally I find that their snow ice isn't as good as Snowman.
Raymond Tiong
I’ve been here a few times and had two types of amazing cheesecake – although I might try their gelato in summer if I get a chance. <br/><br/>Service is pretty friendly and it’s a nice place to hang out with a small group. I’ve heard that this is mainly a place for desserts and drinks rather than dining in, which suits me fine since their food items on offer seem to be mainly sandwich-type items.
🌹
Go-to cafe when studying, chatting, or chilling - great atmosphere and great service. They offer blankets during winter and free wifi! <br/><br/>Price has increased from before but still quite affordable for the quality :)
Swl102802
Mellow is friendly ice carve with amazing desserts! Love to go there at night and have few desserts and come home feeling fresh! Free wifi and blankets in winter is awesome!!!
Kiwi Eats Asia
I love Mellow's shaved ice desserts. They're reasonably priced and yummy. The base is extremely finely shaved, melt in your mouth milk ice. Nicer than the unflavored ice at Snowman and the not so amazing ice at Meet Fresh. There is a large amount of deliciously textured soft serve ice cream on top of the ice and toppings generously added throughout. Last night we had the green tea regular sized ( big enough for 2-3 people). It was made of milk ice, milk flavored soft serve and sprinkled with matcha, ground almond and cornflakes. There was also a generous amount of red bean in the middle and on the top. Delicious! Would be even better if Auckland wasn't so chilly at the moment. I have also had their hot chocolates in the past, and they're really chocolatey and amazing one of my faves in Auckland. Bonus - their staff are always lovely! P.s. use the entertainment book voucher for 25% off everything before June 1st 2017. EDIT- went back to try choc ice with an unadventurous friend and it was nice very boring compared to the matcha one. Not enough toppings and flavours /textures.

Lovely cafe :) Truly love their coffee and i recommended their cheese cake, it's the best cheese cake in Auckland!! Staff were so friendly and efficiency especially Dion, always with the smiling face. Their shaved ice was good as well ! definitely will be back
I_like_pickles
Cute cafe with lots of food options. The decor and furniture is really fun and vibrant.<br/><br/>The rolled ice cream is interesting but I prefer ice cream scooped. They have an extensive array of cakes and cheesecakes in their cabinet. Will definitely try a cake or two next time.
Ffionachua
If you haven't tried their cheesecake, you must try it today! <br/><br/>Mellow has one of the best cheesecakes around - our favourite is the taro cheesecake. We've tried the others (they have quite a selection - Oreo, chocolate, strawberry etc). They're all really tasty, but the taro cheesecake win hands down.<br/><br/>Also, they make a pretty good coffee and their staff are really polite and friendly.
Choco
Stopped by for a drink last week, plain simple lemonade, friendly staff that serve with a smile, neat and clean place to dine. Always a rush here.

Lovely coffee and best taste great service all the staff are friendly and helpful modern cafe in the middle of high street auckland free wifi and clean toilets <br/>
Misty
Disappointing shaved ice - lack of ingredients and it doesn't even look nice! the ones at Snowman and Fresh are much better. <br/>There were about 5 different types of cake in the cabinet but seems overpriced ($6-7) as the cake pieces are smaller than other cafes. <br/>

Yummy cake ! Oreo and fudge flavor both my favorite !!! And good service as well!! The stone ice cream looks so special! I saw it just once in Auckland!!!!!!lovely cheese bun...
Nil
Ordered an oreo crepe cake and cheesecake. The crepe cake was of a good size and really good! The cheesecake was quite average and I have definitely tried better ones. The cheese cake was $7, which is a bit pricy for the size of it. The atmosphere was cozy and the place was very cute!
Ditoya
Came here with a friend. We ordered an oreo crepe cake slice and an oreo cheesecake slice. Crepe cake was really good! A bit too pricey at $7 for each slice in my opinion. The cheesecake tasted pretty average and was of a quite small size. The crepe cake was of a good size though. Cute interior and the atmosphere was quite nice.
Emma Patricia Katili
This cute cafe has really friendly servers. It also has great seating and a lovely atmosphere. The ice cream rolls are yummy but what is really special is the show the server will put on to make them.
Annie
AMAZING deserts place ever! I only had a heated up brownie but that brownie could possibly be the best brownie ever. I had mine with cream on top and that combination really complemented each other and beautiful presentation. Not only that but the atmosphere in the cafe was really relaxing and peaceful even with all the people there, everyone had their own things to do and I don't know I just really loved the feeling of it.
Anastasia Kadir
Located at the centre of town and always packed with people. It's a good place to have a long conversation with friends and others, since the place is nice and comfortable. They also have lots kind of cheesecakes, drinks, and other small foods.
Kylie
I really like the way they do their shaved ice. My first impressions were a bit meh, since they're not as elaborately decorated as shaved ice from other places. <br/><br/>However, the flavour was great, and I loved that they put toppings throughout the shaved ice so you don't eat everything first and end up with only ice left. The 'ice' also had a much milkier taste, which I enjoyed. <br/><br/>I do have to say that their crepe cake is not good. Way too much cream, it doesn’t feel light at all.
Kathryn Zhou
This place is seriously delicious if I lived closer to the city, I would probably come here every week :D<br/>Between my friend and I, we got the regular Green tea shaved ice which was a generous serving for the two of us. The taste of it was amazing! The green tea ice-cream itself was creamy, milky and had a nice subtle green tea flavour-delicious. Being a textural person, I also liked how it had layers of texture which complimented each other really well. Will definitely be back to try more-Btw the rolled ice-creams are also a must try (especially the cookie flavoured one)
Veronica Te
Free wi-wi. Great atmosphere. Service is amazing. Clean and visually appealing place with even better tasting cheese cake. They also make fresh ice cream where they scrape it off the iced plate and served it rolled into a cute cup.
Cathy Xiong
Our place to go to when a group of us want to sit down, have a nice chat, or even to play card games!(have to bring your own of course) Conveniently situated on High Street with nice decor for that perfect photo and lovely atomosphere. Plus they open till quite late so perfect place to chill before going for dinner. <br/>Their food is quite nice as well plus you get discounts if you have uni club cards! Friendly staff too!
STRADS
After lunch at Kushi, we wandered across Queens St & passed by Mellow which looked nice for a cup of coffee. The cheese cakes looked inviting & we had a taro cheese cake with our coffees. Good, hot coffees are always enjoyable. Too bad, the smooth cheese cake didn't have the taste of taro.  A  couple of young ladies on the adjacent table shared a shaved ice with taro flavour & they really enjoyed it (& they even invited me to have a bite!).
Eddie Liu
Came and shared some shaved ice with my partner. Although quite pricey, the dessert was nice and light, not too sugary or creamy. If it were a bit more affordable I would come here more often
Luiza Ellaine Hermoso
The taro cheesecake was awesome! <br/>The place was very pleasant and the staff was very polite. Now im going to visit here whenever im craving for cheesecake especially im a big fan of any taro flavoured dessert.
May I.
Great value for money. Definitely coming back for more taro shaved ice (good for 2) green tea gelato and crepe cake! Nice little korean dessert place.
Chloe Sharrock
Visited Mellow tonight for a light desert after work, welcoming atmosphere with cute interior. We had the strawberry cheese cake and green tea cheesecake, both were extremely delicious. Everything being served around us also looked amazing. Decent sized piece for the price, pleasant experience.
Winnie Luo
Very pleasant experience! The desserts were not too sweet and the serving sizes are massive! <br/><br/>The place could do with a fuller range of cabinet desserts though, we came around 7 and most things were gone. The taro shaved ice was very nice though!<br/><br/>Not so much a winter dessert place but still deserves some love!
Sabrina Chae
I don't drink coffee so I won't say anything in that. But thise strawberry cheesecakes! They are so good!!! I don't usually buy cheesecakes since I find the homemade to be richer, but damm this is good! I will try their crepe cake next time
Michelle Ma Belle
Love this place!<br/><br/>My sister and I shared a regular sized green tea shaved ice, at $10 it was more than enough for two people :)<br/><br/>The ice cream actually tasted very strongly of green tea, the red bean was also well cooked. This is saying a lot since we came from Taiwan where green tea is a specialty ;)<br/><br/>They were not stingy with the condensed milk either, it was mixed evenly through out. The topping of corn flakes gave it a nice crunchy texture with a slightly sweet flavour which was lovely.<br/><br/>The dining environment was clean and spacious. All in all we can not wait to come back again and try their other desserts.
Medium_Rare
Nice little dessert spot amongst the many eateries on High Street, I came here to catch up with some family members.<br/><br/>I really enjoyed the interior of Mellow; it's relaxed, spacious, and gives a feeling of cleanness which is comforting.<br/><br/>We had a coffee, white chocolate shake, original cheese cake, and the cookies and cream cheese cake.<br/><br/>The coffee was good, nothing spectacular and the milkshake was chocolatey without being overly sweet.<br/><br/>Our cakes were of most interest because the original cheesecake is fantastic! Unfortunately the cookies and cream was pretty bland.<br/><br/>Showstopper: Original cheesecake and the comforting interior. <br/><br/>Overall Grade: B+

One of those places that I came for curiosity and probably will never return. I have no problem with the place or the service, it's the food that I don't like. <br/><br/>My friends and I came on a Wednesday night and the store was pretty packed, only a few tables left. I ordered one of their best seller which is the green tea shaved ice and my friend got a slice of green tea crepe cake. The bowl of green tea shaved ice is quite big, enough for 2-3 people to share. It has green tea gelato, some sort of red bean paste, a lot of cereals, toasted almond and condensed milk underneath. Taste-wise, it is bland and bizarre, once again reaffirm my disfavour toward this type of desserts. I don't understand the cereal, it doesn't go with anything and there is A LOT of it. The gelato is probably the best thing in that bowl and it is very similar to the McDonald's sundae in terms of texture and sweetness. The dish should be called 'Red bean and cereal shaved ice' because they are the main components. The matcha in the shaved ice was washed away by the layers of red bean paste in that bowl. Overall not good, and my bf, who likes shaved ice desserts in general, agrees with me. I also tasted my friend's green tea crepe cake and it was average, plus for every layer of crepe there was a layer of red beans again. I wonder if they have red beans in every 'green tea' desserts.<br/><br/>On the other hand, the store has nice decorations and atmosphere. The service is super fast and friendly. Price is reasonable. Giving a 3/5 because I think I can be biased when it comes to this kind of desserts since I'm not a big fan from the beginning. Still give Mellow a try and see for yourself, it might be what you like. As for me, I'm not coming back :)

I went there with my sister just today and i like the place. i have been searching for bingsoo places and i think this cafe is really good. But their wifi have a password and its really inconvenient since i need to do some whole works while eating.

■ Good location<br/>■ Nice, open interior <br/>■ Friendly service<br/><br/>■ Quite busy in the daytime<br/><br/>Such a cute and neat spot! Came here in the evening a while ago just after dinner and the location is really convenient. They've got a nice selection of shaved ice and stone cold ice-cream and my absolute favorite would probs the Mango just coz I love anything in this flavour! We shared a large between two and it wasn't too sweet either. <br/><br/>I also really like their mix and style of cutesy furniture from their handwritten menu board to their quirky cabinet ornaments - Quite similar to the vibe you get at The Shelf! <br/><br/>Ive also previously tried their Oreo stone cold icecream and they prepare it right in front of you - chopping and smoothing it in the pan to crafting the ice cream rolls into neat little curls, so definitely adds that little extra! <br/><br/>Ive heard their crepe cakes are a little overhyped but guess Ill have to find out for myself ;) Great place for a light and fun catchup with friends!

Recommended by a friend to try their taro shaved ice... It was mouth watering taro shaved ice... The taste was really good, not to sweet... It was affordable... We'll definitely come back...
Ridad
Very nice place for lunch. Went there with a friend and even though they don't have many savoury options, (paninis are coming soon) there is plenty of options for desserts. I had the chickeb filo which was nice and shared the oreo crepe cake with a friend. The cake was divine and I will go back and try some of their other desserts since they all looked sooo good.

South Korean styled shave ice and fried ice cream are what this place is famous for. Absolutely love the green tea shaved ice. The fried ice cream is somethings that I recommend you try once if you haven't, it gives you the rolled up smooth ice cream, but I just hope that they could put in a bit more real fruit or cookies in it. And the top to decorate it a little bit. Overall good place for a summer catch up with friends.
Benedict Uy
They have many Asain style desserts including cheesecake and shaved milk ice. The shave milk ice is almost like ice cream and they have many exotic flavours like taro and mango. They also serve savoury food. There is also always people inside, which could be due to the free WiFi they have on top of the food. It was something different and did taste nice.
Issie
Their shaved ice in green tea or roasted grain is my favourite desserts to have after a meal with friends. Portions are large so please share. Their cheesecakes and beverages are also very good. great prices and service is also really good. Friendly and relaxing atmosphere. packed around late afternoons most days. shows how popular this place is.

I've now been to Mellow a handful of times and it's a great spot to head to after dinner. Their shaved ice and stone cold ice cream rolls are the highlights. <br/><br/>Be sure to try the roasted grain shaved ice!
Rojas
Best place for shaved ice in the CBD. We usually come here as a group and grab a large green tea shaved milk ice dessert, it generously portioned and flavored throughout the dish which is a lot better than other places nearby. Only let down is the coffee here isnt great, not sure if the guy making it is trained but he often burns the soy milk and makes quiet bitter coffee.
Tanz
I'm a big fan of green tea dessert and Mellow did it well!! I had green tea shaved ice with milk flavored ice. It served with not too sweet green tea soft serve and went really well with red beans. Love the look and taste!! It's a good place to go during summer if you want something sweet and cool you down. <br/><br/>I will definitely go back and try other desserts there.

This place is really good and convenient for late night desserts. <br/><br/>Me and my friends are waiting for our movie at 10:40pm and this place closes at 10pm...which is fantastic! <br/><br/>Love the whole set up and plenty of seats too. <br/>The staff is friendly and the cake is a must try!!<br/>The hot chocolate, blue lemonade and taro cakr is a must try. 👌<br/><br/>It's a great place to stay comfy n hang out while waiting around. <br/><br/>

First time here and very nice and tidy atmosphere. Service was very quick and good. Shaved ice, cheesecake, crepe cakes and coffee were had. Highly recommended for a comfortable warm Sunday afternoon.

Nice place to catch up with friends, they offer lovely ice cream, drinks and cakes. We had a piece of green tea mille crepe cake and a slice strawberry cheese cake. Good experience!
Steven Kong
Nice and warm environment , good service, free wifi. I ordered a Taro cheese cake and the taste is good. Recommand to people who would like to have nice dessert and good environment
Michelle Hwang
Really funny to see how the stone ice cream was processed. Warm-hearted service and nice price. Hope to meet some new flavor and less sugar items soon.
Seok Heon Lee
Went there by myself to wait for a friend of mine. Great atmosphere, free wifi, tasty desert, friendly staff, and spacious room. Felt sorry for the other customers who had to leave because of me. Only had a cup of coffee there, but will try some Korean desserts next time.
Lorli
The green tea crepes & taro cheesecake both looked and tasted good. Nice atmosphere and quite relaxed. My suggestion is to skip the iced green tea cause it's basically green blended ice with no green tea flavor at all!
Coffee Addict
The only good thing about this place is its interior design. The rest is quite depressing - especially their coffee. Their baristas - most of them - are clearly not trained properly because they taste burnt.<br/>I've been here at least once a month ever since it has opened, though it was never on my own free will. According to my friends there is a good looking guy (HAHA) but I've yet seen one.<br/>Their pastries are okay, but there could be more variety. As for their shaved ice, it tastes awfully watery for containing milk - especially their fruit-flavered ones. I did try their KB pizza once, and found it quite pleasant until I almost broke my teeth chewing on the crust.<br/>I strongly recommend that you go somewhere else. There are better cafes out in Auckland Central.
Pij
Great place to kick back by myself or catch up with friends. Interesting desserts such as pumpkin cheesecake and this ice cream thing I really want to try.
Eggster Eats
I went to Mellow for some dessert with a friend and we ordered the Mango shaved ice. The dessert was delicious and was soft and fluffy. It was really light as well and that was what made it splendid. The service was great and the atmosphere was tranquil as well. Overall I gave it a 4.5
Thegreeats
Good shaved ice and average cabinet dessert. <br/>Before snowman cafe came in this was the place to be for shaved ice but now there is some competition.<br/>But cute interior and atmosphere, staff were friendly :)
Christabel
Really lovely service and a very cute looking cafe. The Bing Su there is really nice and it's a pretty generous portion! Never had any problems there and have always enjoyed my visits.

One of my friend recommended this place so we tried it out. We ordered Taro Shaved Ice and Greentea crepe cake. The greentea cake was nice and flavorful. The star was the Taro Shaved Ice. The sweetness is just right. I would come back again next time to try their other food 👍🏼

the ambience of cafe is just average, but still clean and comfortable. Especially if in city with friends, definately a great place to go for a chilled drink, stone icecream and some dessert. Great for chatting and gathering with young mates
Brave Eat
Great atmosphere/good place to try with friends, but that is all I can say about this café. I don’t think their desserts aren’t really the best option to go for. It is an average place for a coffee/chat visit, but not to eat.

My friend suggested we go here last week for ice cream! So glad we did! Man it was soo nice! I have a really bad sweet tooth and did not know what to order so i went with 2 desserts! Oops! Obviously the ice cream as thats what we came for and also the delicious looking strawberry cheesecake! I decided on the oreo ice cream which was really good and for $5 you get a fair amount of it aswell! Pretty decent! My friend had a green tea flavour oce cream that i tried but it wasnt to my taste! The cheesecake was $6 and was an ok size! It tasted really nice though but could of had more strawberries! There was a thin layer of strawberry jelly on the top with a big strawberry! Would of been better if it ran through the cheesecake! Will defo be back here to try a few more things when im next in the city!

Good place to have sweet stuff. Pumpkin cheese cake is highly recommended. For coffee lovers however, this place is not the best place. I also had an ice americano once, and the cup was filled with ice and 0.00005ml of coffee.
Jessica Park
Me and my friend went to this place twice and the first time we had 3 iced peach with mango shaved ice cream and the 2nd time we went time we went we had 1 iced peach and the original shaved ice cream. Both of them were tasty. Personally i enjoyed the mango shaved ice cream more than the original one. The ice cream has a very sweet and tasty flavour and the ice and the mango just melts in the mouth. The small dollop of ice cream on top was my favourite part about the shaved ice cream.

Probably one of the best cafes I've been to. Extremely fun and vibrant colours within the store which made it feel very comfortable to chill at. Ordered a cheesecake, slushie (which was very big by the way) and a coffee which was rich in flavour and very tasty. It felt like there were so many ingredients going into them that you would get an overload of flavours tingling on your tongue
Ruth
It's a nice place to get together with my friends. The atmosphere is good, the staffs there is friendly. But the food there, I mean the matcha cake is just so so, even from the appearance, after waiting for around 15 min. a bit of disappointed. I also ordered the iced chocolate. cant believe it is just ice blended, kind like slushy.
Vy2 - 20% OFF ZOMATO GOLD “IVYWIT”
3 points all to the environment.. Very nice and relaxing, great place to chill out in the CBD. The coffee was quite average. The layer cake wasn't very nice, as the crepe/layers were too thick.

I'm a big sweet tooth and I love crepe cakes.<br/><br/>Mellow is a very cute store and has a bright atmosphere, staff are friendly and always seem quite bubbly.<br/><br/>I ordered a mango smoothie and a green tea crepe cake. <br/>Mango smoothie was quite nice.<br/>Green tea crepe cake, taste wise was delicious, but the texture was quite hard to cut the crepe cake. <br/><br/>It's a very cute store, would be quite nice for couples. Would like to come back and try their other desserts and drinks.
Camillevaihu
Best Hot chocolate I've ever had! A great atmosphere, staff could be friendlier but apart from that everything I had was delicious and well priced.
Gia
Perfect place to unwind with friends after a tedious day in uni. They have a range of desserts that our definitely should be in your list to try. My friends and I always order their large Green Tea shaved ice and is good enough to share amongst us. We've also tried their seasonal fruit one and it was really yum! The interior and ambience is amazing very relaxing yet gives a fun vibe.
HoLiCA
Really enjoy coming here with my friends, pretty much come here every time when in town for dessert. The price is very cheap for groups, and the shaved ice and cakes are great! Very fulling👍 I recommend the original/seasonal fruit/green tea shaved ice and the green tea crepe and cheesecake. I like how it's not too sweet and just right. The staff is friendly and the dessert comes out pretty quick which is good! I like the location of it too. Try it out!👍
C
Great place to chill and hang out!Various desserts to try. A must is the cold stone ice cream and shaved iced. Shaved ice portion is generous, plenty enough for 2 people. We ordered small thinking it was enough for 1.  Cold stone ice cream is a must try! I tried green tea and grain flavour, both are delicious for the price of $5 per cup.
Stella Lin
Tasty cakes and lovely drawings on the blackboard!!You can often see Koreans show up in this café. The environment and decoration are quite good.
Anastasia
The place looks nice, but not my favorite. The coffee is nothing special. I also order the green tea ice cream there. And it taste weird for me, the green tea is not so green tea, just not my fav.
Danena Wu
Lovely place!! I really wanted to go there to try the cold stone ice cream thingy( rolled ice cream ) tasted average though just tasted like normal ice cream. Service is great the staff is real nice.
Charlotte
The overall atmosphere and feel of the Cafe is very pleasant. It's a very chic and cute cafe that is always busy. The staff are friendly and efficient but the food is pretty average. Everything was very nice in terms of looks but all lack in flavour. Tried the icecream and the crepe cake. Both were nice but the crepe cake was a little too creamy and sweet for our liking. A definite nice place to go to but nice is all it is.
Renor Kay
Price 3/5<br/>Service 4/5<br/>Food 4.5/5<br/>Atmosphere 3.5/5<br/>Very good cheese cake and coffee<br/>Good service and friendly staff<br/>I will come back soon. And try another cake and coffee

I came to Mellow with 8 friends for my birthday. I wanted to have desserts instead of dinner as we are all too busy to meet after 6. I settled on Mellow and made a reservation. <br/><br/>We arrived early and the staff let us all in to wait comfortably while they set up. <br/>When we ordered we had kumara, taro and plain cheese cakes, green tea, oreo and chocolate crepes, shaved ice served with pineapple, mandarin, strawberries and mangos as well as several teas and coffees.<br/>The service was fantastic. The food was absolutely delicious and presented beautifully. <br/>I give Mellow a 5/5 because everything was great. <br/>Customer service 5/5 <br/>Cleanliness of the tables, toilets, floor 5/5 <br/>Food was fresh, well presented and tasted delicious 5/5<br/>Decor was sweet and well Co ordinated 5/5 <br/>Unfortunately I don't have any pictures but all the pictures that have been posted in reviews is exactly what you get. <br/><br/>Mellow would be perfect for a first date. For 2 cheesecakes, 1 coffee, 1 berrylicious tea, 2 crepes and 1 shaved ice the grand total came in under $38. <br/><br/>I highly recommend Mellow and it's now one of my favourite places to eat.
윤효성
Great quality coffee and a really lovely atmosphere making the coffee taste even better! Also tried the chocolate shaved ice which was also very sweet and tasty. Giving this cafe a 5 star and highly recommend people to try out. Won't regret it!!
Katharina Wulandari
One of the BEST cafe in high street! Love their pat bing soo (shaved ice) and their cakes, especially the cheese cake and green tea layer cake. MUST try these when u come here.<br/><br/>I tried the these variance of shaved ice: roasted grain, green tea, and mango. So far, the best one is still roasted grain. The green tea shaved ice was okay - it's just a plain shaved ice with green tea ice cream. I recommend to choose the 'matcha shaved ice' which only come in a big size --> they use green tea-flavoured shaved ice instead of the plain one.<br/><br/>The shaved ice is served with corn flakes and red bean + sweet sauce. YUM for the sweet tooth! I never try their coffee or smoothie - can't really say about this.<br/><br/>The interior is soooo nice. Cozy ambience and lots of fancy furnitures. I love being here - with a good dessert and comfortable ambience. Definitely a recommended cafe to hang out with ur mates!
Greer Lee Wilson Dunne
Super cute place with amazing coffee, only downside was that it wasn't very ethnically diverse, I can imagine why many people would be too intimidated to go in, luckily I am not one of those people so I'll be returning 100%
Kirsten
Decided to drop by after dinner for some stone ice cream. I ordered a Green Tea stone ice cream for $5 and I didn't expect the cup to be really tall! Green tea is one if my favourite flavours for desserts and I have yet to try their other flavours. The interior design of Mellow is really awesome as well! I have to come back and try their coffee and other drinks!
Razelle Icaro
Went back to try out the Cold stone ice cream! Also tried the red bean crepe. The ice cream was alright, good but not great. I wouldn't recommend the red bean ice cream tho. The flavours just doesn't seem to match up and the vanilla ice cream tasted too milky. I recommend the shave ice though! You can get a small bowl for $7.5 but it's not actually that small, it's big enough to be shared between two people!
Ezzz
FIRST TIME HERE~ lots of my friends has been and I was so curious as well. I had the stone green tea ice cream, to me personally it was way too sweet and have an artificial green tea flavour and sweetness, I didn't like it a lot but it's was alright. The cheese cake was alright, just like any other ordinary cheesecake :3 idk if I would return tho, maybe just for the atmosphere and the pretty looking food haha jkjk
Annie Bananie
Cute little new place. I hear the cold stone green tea ice cream is really good. The shaved ice is a huge as portion but the green tea soft serve is disappointing with not much matcha flavour in it. Red bean was still good though. Go with a friend and share!
Melanie Lim
We loved Mellow so much!! We tried the oreo crepe cake and seasonal fruit shaved ice. We got a large for shaved ice, which we thought was a huge portion. Didn't manage to finish that but still enjoyed it, it wasn't just ice like some other places would have it. The place had a cute interior and we would definitely come back again to try out some of their other stuff like cold stone ice cream 😊
A
I'm giving mellow a 3.5 because despite the cute decor and quirky dessert items, the coffee was shockingly bad- tasted burnt and wasn't warm enough. The cappuccino just didn't cut it for me!
Saber Xie
The Mille feuille was quite good had the strawberry one, friend got the green tea one said was just okay. Shaved ice has the decent portion but wasn't as good as it looks. If you want a quite and private environment this place might not suitable
Connor Gielen
Never failed me for a good coffee yet. Attentive staff, good service and great location seeing as I'm situated next door. Have tried a range of their coffees and they're all good. 10/10.
Shelly
Checkin out this hype after it changed from my fav froyo place! Came in after dinner to not even being greeted by the staff after we walked straight up to the counter. They did not even bother explaining the menu etc to us. To me, service is 10x more important than the product so I left quite disappointed even thought the dessert was delicious.
Jay
I have tried their shaved ice and crepe cake. <br/>Their shaved ice is deliciously sweet and soft. Its texture is similar to chewy gelato ice cream when you try to chew it but it melts away in your mouth quickly. <br/>Crepe cake was pretty to see but its taste was just like eating pancake that has no sugar in it with some red bean paste and cream. In other words, it was not as yummy as it looks. I will visit again for their different kind of desserts like ice cream and other types of shaved ice. Their atmosphere/interior is so cute and modern in mint colour. Girls will love it. (They will take endless selfies there)
Michelle Chua
Apart from Bubble bear , Mellow is another perfect place to hangout with friends. Good set up, mellow music , staff here are friendly and welcoming :) loving their stone ice cream especially the Oreo and banana. Tried their crepe ham, cheese & onion and iced peach tea :) do come!
Rebecca Teng
It's an alright place with alright desserts with an alright price and an alright service. Nothing really stood out to me other than the really chic interior. The shaved ice is pretty good at first but man do you get sick of it quickly. Have to say the cold stone flaked ice cream was great though!
Lucia Park
The ice desserts are delicious here! We ordered the small red bean but the size was big for even the two of us. Took a bit of time though but definitely worth the wait.
Candii Cao
I came here especially for the crepe cake. I ordered the green tea crepe cake for $7. The crepe cake was light and not very sweet. It had green tea flavored cream and red beans in between the layers of crepe. We also ordered green tea stone ice cream $5, the green tea ice cream was different compare to other places that serve green tea ice cream. Overall the dessert was nice and different from other dessert place. They also have other desserts and offer breakfast menu as well. I will probably go back to try the other things on the menu.

Magnificent setting with affordable menu!<br/>I ordered oreo stone ice cream and seasonal fruit shaved ice, both tasted very delicious!<br/><br/>The only thing I would criticise about this place is that the ice cream (on shaved ice) didn't taste very nice and the person who made my stone ice cream isn't that well-experienced (she had a few trouble here and there, but that's just me being picky - meaning don't expect them to be doing tricks while waiting for your stone ice cream).<br/><br/>Would come again here and vouch to people who've been meaning to try this place.
Michelle
Went here thinking its gonna be another MeetFresh. But love this one better! The best shaved ice in town! Love green tea and roasted grain! Will definitely try the rest of the flavours next time!
Jeanelle Isidro
Went here today for a catch up with a few of my friends. We all ordered the oreo stone ice cream and it was delicious!! It was definetely worth the money. We ordered one Seasonal Fruit Shaved Ice on the side and me and my friends enjoyed it but didnt quite liked the taste of the ice cream that came with it. <br/><br/>Overall it was a fantastic and worth while experience! I really enjoyed watching how they make the stone ice cream. Would surely recommend this place to my pals and would come back more often!
Angela (A Style Collector)
We went here for the first time last week. I was drawn in by the decor. This place has good interior. I love the colour palette and it's really cute design. <br/><br/>This place mainly has desserts and known for the stone ice cream. I got a hot chocolate for drink and my sister got a mocha. My hot chocolate was really fluffy but I liked it. <br/><br/>We got the strawberry and Oreo stone ice cream. we've never tried stone ice cream before and for $5, it was good. I was surprised it wasn't even though. The strawberry was so much and the Oreo only had three rolls. <br/><br/>I enjoyed the Oreo more but my sister preferred the strawberry. I think I'll go back here mainly for the stone ice cream because it's such an interesting to watch them make it.
Ryan
Not that amazing, lots of buzz but a pretty standard cafe. Just grabbed a couple of drinks, coffee was ok and the hot chocolate was very sweet. My partner enjoyed it but too sweet for me, tasted like melted marshmallows inside.<br/><br/>Interior of the cafe is nice, but we came late at night and it was too bright and glaring with kpop playing, would have liked somewhere with a bit more atmosphere. It was nice, just not our style. Nothing special.
Fanta
Mellow is a newly opened cafe/desserts shop with a nicely decorated interior that gives off a modern and relaxed atmosphere. Their dessert menu is unique in that they serve shaved ice, ice creams rolls and crepe cakes. They also have a wide range of macaroons and other baked goods. I tried the baked cheesecake and I must say it kind of got me hooked on cheesecake. However, I personally found their coffee was too bitter compared to other cafes. Definitely check it out when you're in the area. It's a pretty convenient location.
Trin
This place is so cute! I always walk pass this cafe and wonder why it's packed and now I know what's all the hype is about. <br/><br/>We ordered the green tea shaved ice it was super yummy! The perfect dessert after dinner. It was so filling even though I ordered the small one. Probably enough to share between two. Tried their macaroons and tart too. Yum yum yum! <br/><br/><br/>Definitely will come back.
Dianca Mitchell
Super nice decor, very nice ambience- nice place to chill and have a cup of coffee with a mate. I've tried the roasted grain patbingsu (shaved ice) which really had no flavour and was pretty average. Green tea patbingsu was a bit better, but my favourite by far is the mango patbingsu. The amount of flavour and fruit in it was amazing and I'd highly recommend it! The coffees and mochas are average and nothing great though.
Michelle
Nice little place to hangout didn't really try anything but the stone cold ice cream and I really liked the Oreo one strawberry was ok not my best pick but I don't think I'll always go back there as a regular thing but I definitely will another time . Still recommended you try it for yourself
Victoria
The appeal of Mellow is more in design for me than the food. The shaved ice was ok, but I prefer a richer icecream. The mille cake was fluffy, but enough to try once. Nice lounge chairs which make it perfect to grab a cup of coffee and chill out.
Simone Halstead
The shaved ice green tea flavoured was really good as I've never had anything quite like it. The green tea stone ice cream was alright but the portion size was tiny and I was left a little underwhelmed as they had ran at of Oreo stone ice cream. Overall a nice place and wouldn't mind going back for the shaved ice.
Where.iate
Ordered the green tea stone ice cream from here for $5 and it was super duper yummy! Very keen to return to try their other flavours.<br/><br/>What is also interesting are the crepe cakes (??) that are on the display cabinet. They look like they are worth a try.<br/><br/>Lovely new place with a educational coffee menu board.
Gentlepig
A light hearted, open spacious café in the middle of High Street - the décor is very modern, very 'clean and sanitary'. Service by the staff is generally very courteous and helpful (except when the chef sometimes come out looking like he walked in from the 'hood). I love their green tea shaved ice, which is surprisingly filling even though it's water; I could have a bowl for lunch & I'd be full! The drinks are good, not exceptional but of a quality that will keep customers returning.
Annie Ren
Heard about all the hype about Mellow so I decided to check it out. It's located on high street, a pretty convenient go-to dessert spot for Uni students. I really liked the look of Mellow when I went in; the whole tone of the place was nice, clean and full of light colours such as white, pale green and pale pink! The food cabinets were also very neat and made the food look appealing. I had their classic layered crepe/pancakes with cream and tried both flavours. I personally prefer the red bean one (which is actually green in colour!). The creams were light and fluffy whereas the pancake is also soft, stuffed with the right amount of red bean paste :) I'm not so sure about the berry one as that one tasted really bland to me, more like a neutral cream pancake.
FoodiePhysician
Korean style cafe and dessert place; reminds me of back home.<br/><br/>Had the macchiato and crepe cake for ten bucks. They were both fine. Cake was cool and sweet with a cream between the multiple layers of the crepes. Definitely a must try. Diabetics beware, you feet will fall off before you can spell crepe.<br/><br/>Coffee was good and wasnt burnt.<br/><br/>The shaved ice looked tempting but seemed a bit steep in price 13.5$ for what is predominantly frozen water. Will try next time.<br/><br/>Sam Yums.
SS
I don't see the excitement around mellow at all. Although it does have super cute decor; spacious and modern. Service was absolutely appalling on both occasions.<br/><br/>Ive tried the stone icecream, baked cheesecake and the crepe cake. The Oreo stone ice cream and the crepe cake left me a little disappointed. The baked cheesecake though, I'd have to say is pretty amazing. Therefore points all go to the cheesecake.
Sheena
I have seen so many photos of the food here popping up all over my Zomato and Facebook feed. I finally got the chance to come here after dinner tonight! It was quite busy when we came in tonight around 8pm, but luckily there were still two seats left for us! The colour scheme in Mellow is simply gorgeous. The entire interior is — from the lights to the furniture to the menu on the wall!<br/><br/>Jessica tried the crepe cake and I ordered the Oreo stone icecream. If we weren't so full, we definitely would've gotten a drink to go with our desserts! The menu and the black board in particular with the illustrations with the different drinks was perfect! I loved it so much! it showed what the different drinks were made of, and the illustrations were done so well. <br/><br/>The crepe cake didn't taste like anything else apart from cream. We thought it would be strawberry flavored but we could only taste the different layers of crepes and the cream! Next to the stone icecream it tasted quite bland. The Oreo stone icecream was so nice!!! It was also presented well in rolled up scrolls. <br/><br/>Definitely coming back to try the rest of the things on the menu! The crepe cake didn't live up to my expectations, but the stone icecream definitely did! Can't wait for my next visit here.
Aniva Huang
Mellow is the cutest new dessert shop in Auckland cbd!<br/><br/>Their stone ice cream is probably the best ice cream I've had. And the best hot chocolate ever! Its not watery and has a rich flavour. <br/><br/>The crepe cake was a little disappointing though
The One With A Nut Allergy...
Haven't tried everything on the menu, but their range of desserts is enticing enough to want to come back! The place felt a tad chaotic at around 9PM on a Tuesday night - but I guess its hard to find a decent cafe opened late in Auckland. We ordered a mille-crepe and ice cream - in a unique presentation. Nice decor, but because of the way the cafe's built- acoustically can be quite noisy. <br/><br/>Taste 7.5/10 for the desserts<br/>Environment: 6/10<br/>Addressing Peanut-Nut Concerns: Barista was patient and seemed assured that the desserts we ordered did not contain nuts or peanuts as ingredients.
Alex
Nice little cafe! The decor is lovely and bright. We tried their green tea shaved ice, green tea mille crepe they were both very tasty. However their coffee is quite average.<br/><br/>We will return for their sweet treats but not for their coffee.
House Of Eats
Well what can I say .... It looks like a uber cool place - however the food cabinet looked rather bare..... The coffee was luke warm, and the lady forgot to charge me for a coffee of which I reminded her. I must admit she was very sweet, but the lack of food present and the coffee wont have me running back in a hurry. Sorry Mellow - yourve lost my vote....
Jess
A really cute little place. I loved the atmosphere and interior design, and the food was very nice. We ordered a Green Tea Shaved Ice and an Iced Americano. Quite busy and therefore loud so it was sometimes difficult to hear the other person. Apart from the noise level it was a really nice place! Will definitely go again.
Eva Zhu
Came here with a bunch of friends, tried the stone ice cream and absolutely loved it! Strawberry and Green Tea were filled with flavors, combining the fresh flavorings with cream on an ice cold surface is a beautiful way to create ice cream! However the 2 shaved ice and mango smoothie we ordered was rather average or way way too sweet. I would return to try some other things on the menu though
Jenny Da
Went to Mellow for some dessert after dinner and discovered their range of cute colorful desserts. We ordered the strawberry stone ice cream and green tea shaved ice. The shop is cute and cosy with simple decor. The staff are also very friendly, however they seemed to be understaffed as there were many uncleared tables. Ice cream highly recommended!

I confess - I have a huge thing for mille crepe. Fell in love with it from the first time I tried it in Malaysia. Luscious cream and jam sandwiched between layers of thin crepes, what's there not to like? So I was psyched when I googled 'mille crepe Auckland' on a random craving and found Mellow, which had coincidentally opened a few weeks ago. Jackpot!<br/><br/>This little cafe was packed when we entered on a Sunday afternoon, and we were lucky to get the last table. The decor is pretty chic, almost reminiscent of the other cute cafe on High Street, The Shelf. The boy and I had a slice of the original mille crepe ($6) and a small green tea shaved ice ($7.50). The mille crepe was... well, sufficient to satisfy a mille crepe craving. It lacks the subtle elegance of Lady M's confections (the chain that popularized mille crepe), but I'm just thrilled to be able to get mille crepe without needing to go through the hassle of making it myself. The layers of crepe were rather few in number, but the taste and texture were both decent. There was also a green tea variety, which I absolutely plan to try during my next visit.<br/><br/>The 'small' green tea shaved ice is really quite large. I have no idea how the 'large' would have turned out, but small was more than enough for two of us. The shaved ice was served with green tea powder, green tea frozen yogurt, red beans and cornflakes. It's definitely one of the better ones that I've tried in Auckland - no large or coarse chunks of ice left over, and the toppings went quite well with it. Quite fairly priced, too, for the quantity given.<br/><br/>All in all, very promising new cafe, and I'm thrilled to have more specialized dessert places around. Plus it's the only cafe in NZ (to the best of my knowledge) to serve mille crepe - bonus points from me there. I do wish they'd heat the place up more, though, especially during the cold winter months. A cold environment is not really conducive to eating cold desserts in.
Zoe Huang
Nice environment and food. Decent price. But should provide knife when serving the crepe cake. No very convenient by just using forks. Suitable for dating and friends gathering.
Chihuo
Stone ice cream oreo flavoured :) interesting watching them make it with a unique texture. Would want to come back and try their shaved ice when warmer <br/>Quite expensive for essentially one scoop if not less
Richard Tran
Unfortunately I came in during closing time so I was not able to fully enjoy the atmosphere of the place but I was still able to enjoy the food! I tried the green tea and mango shaved ice and I was also able to try the stone Oreo ice cream and I would recommend them all!
FOODFANATICJIMMY
Another restaurant where one bad experience ruined the whole grading. After having lunch with a good friend of mine, I decided to head straight for here to wash down the greasy chinese food we had with something that was refreshing yet cool. Being a huge fan of green tea shaved ice, this place was the obvious choice. Interior wise, it was the way I like it. SImple, yet elegant designs (especially loved the design of the menu board). Music was perfect to fit the atmosphere. On top of that, the shaved ice was actually GOOD!! A very generous portion size with plenty of red beans. The slight disappointment was that the shaved ice itself was almost watery. Shouldve had more green tea flavouring to it. But the ultimate let down was the service. We had to wait 15 minutes for a bit of shaved ice. The girl in the counter was full on with a continous line forming. The problem was when the man in the kitchen asked if she was busy, she replied she could handle it. Clearly not. There were customers that ordered after us that received their desserts before us. Later on, two more staff came to her aid. This shouldve happened much earlier. May give this place another go, or just visit my other most favourite korean dessert shop.

Yay for cold stone ice cream now available in Auckland! Seeing it made right in front of me was quite a performance – from chopping the pan, to crafting the ice cream rolls. The texture is quite interesting – almost feathery because of the way it was rolled. It then melts into a creamy pool in your mouth. I thought it was a steal at $5.<br/><br/>I also tried the regular Roasted Grain Shaved Ice at $7.50. I had only eaten shaved ice at Meet Fresh, Momotea and the likes before so I was pleasantly surprised at how soft and airy the shaved ice was. Get a bit of everything on the spoon! Filled with red bean, almond flakes, peanut shavings – I loved it. Not as sweet and syrupy as mango or intense like green tea, it was a new flavor combination in for me. The only downside was the half-hearted swirl of yoghurt on the side that made the dish droop like a sad face. Spying on others, the rest all came out in perky swirls though so maybe that particular waiter just needs some McDonald’s soft serve training!<br/><br/>I went to Mellow wanting something sweet after dinner. Just after 7:30pm, the cabinet still had enticing choices of macarons, cake slices and tarts.<br/><br/>Mellow is a really cute and modern chic cafe. Think of its neighbour The Shelf on High Street with their cute decor, it has the same modern Korean style. Bright with the stylish plush sofas all in the white and Tiffany teal blue, it has all the appeal to make passerbys walk just a little slower to look inside.<br/><br/>I’d come back again to try the richer options, perhaps not after a big meal next time!

I came here May 22 with some friends, the staff were super friendly and welcoming which was nice. The decor was so cute, but I was too embarrassed to be snapping pictures left right and centre. I ordered the Matcha Green Tea Shaved Ice with my friend, I didn't really like the ice itself, but when eating all of the components together it was really good. Our other friends ordered the Seasonal Fruit Shaved Ice and they seemed to enjoy it. Overall it was a nice experience and I'd be happy to repeat it again.

Yay another dessert place! I'm starting to get a bit sick of OKO and Milse, so this is a bonus to the Auckland cbd dessert scene. Upon arrival the first thing that captivates you is the decor. Cute, simple and minimal. I got the mille crêpe and my friends got an ice mocha and tropical smoothie. Sadly we were a bit full from lunch and didn't have space to try their shaved ice. I hear its what they're known for. The drinks were good! No complaints. And the mille crêpe was ammaaazing. Layers of nice fluffy cream and jam sandwiched between the thin layers of crepe. I can't wait to come back here to try their coffee, cold stone ice cream, and shaved ice. Definitely my new go to dessert place.<br/><br/>Food 5/5<br/>Drinks (yet to try)<br/>Atmosphere 4.8/5 (wooden chairs are a little unforgiving on sore backs)<br/>Value for money 5/5<br/>Service 5/5

Got recommended by a friend to go here as she had seen it on social media (she had never been here before either). <br/><br/>Maybe it's cos we went there a bit late (around 8.30pm) but their service was alright.... No greeting though. Limited selections of food/desserts. Their kitchen was closed for crepes which was a shame. <br/><br/>Ordered a matcha shaved ice -which was massive. Really nice. Better than a lot of the other shaved ice out there. We also ordered stuff from the cabinet since there wasn't much to order from as the kitchen was closed. <br/><br/>The mousse was nice but the chocolate casing was too much. So thick it's sickening :/ the chocolate eclair was the same. Chocolate was way too thick (tasted nice) and pastry wasn't nice at all. The best thing out of all that we ordered was the mixed berry baked cheesecake. Even my friend who had ordered a iced green tea, said it was very average. Flavour was barely there. <br/><br/>It's a nice little place. Loved how they wrote up their menu. Very unique. Maybe the selection would've been better during the day. Oh and they offer free wifi which is a bonus. But probably won't be coming back here though.

When I had about the opening of this cute little cafe via Instagram, I was SO ECSTATIC cos I absolutely love shaved ice! Came here with two of my close friends after lunch for some midday dessert yesterday, and it did not disappoint!.<br/>First of all, the decor inside was absolutely adorable and themed with a turquoise colour which I loved. Between the three of us, we had ordered a small green tea shaved ice ( 7.50) and the green tea stone cold ice cream ( $5).Both were so gooood and value for money especially the shaved ice! Served in a bowl with a generous portion of red bean, condense milk, flaked almonds and green tea frozen yogurt, it was heaven in a bowl. I cant wait to come back to try everything on their menu.<br/><br/>p.s. service was extremely good and very friendly :)<br/><br/>UPDATE: Tried the roasted grain shaved ice the second time I returned, can safely say that you will not be disappointed one bit. Definitely my new favourite flavour!!

The decor of this place is no other word for it- cute. In a typical modern Korean style dessert cafe, it was adorned with little jars of flowers, trinkets on the shelves, and a corner of comfortable sofa chairs to lounge upon. <br/><br/>Of course, I had to order the Roasted Grain Shaved Ice ($7.50). You can go for the large for $13.50 but it was rather chilly today so I was pushing my limit. Anything for dessert though! The ice was well crushed; flaky, soft, and pillowy. The mountain of ice was dusted with the roasted grain, and came topped with red bean and a swirl of frozen yoghurt- a perfect combination when eaten together in one mouthful. It was a dream come true for me to have this dessert physically in my hands rather than drooling over Instagram photos.<br/><br/>My partner ordered the New York Cheesecake. Extremely dense, rich, and creamy, this was definitely more of an indulgence than the shaved ice despite it’s smaller size. It wasn’t too sweet at all, which is a must in dessert cafes- there’s nothing like the sickening feeling of too much sugar in the system to put you off forever. To be honest, I think this place is better for the shaved ice more than the cakes. Our desserts were made quite fast, and there were no wait lines. I’m already planning my return visit :)

Recently opened cafe on High St! It was a pleasant experience for a cold winters day! Theres indoor heating which was nice! The interior here is so cute and matches the menu and service perfectly. We had the green tea and original shaved ice at $7.50 each! They were good - less green tea powder next time maybe :) however the cost for the amount was reasonable and would definately become a regular here! The staff were helpful and had exceptional setvice.
