Review Cereal Killa Cafe - Auckland Central

There is a lot of hype around this place and its Freak Shakes so I felt I needed to try it. There are a good number of options to choose from. Definitely worth sharing a shake as they are rather large.

I’ve always wanted to check out this trendy cafe on Dominion Road, Cereal Killa which makes the coolest milkshakes ever! We got their COOKIE DOUGH MILK SHAKE, CHOCOLATE & NUTELLA, UNICORN SHAKE! We absolutely demolished it! We also got their BACON BENEDICT A SMASHED AVO and BREAKFAST WAFFLES. All of the food was great! The rostis are also made in house! The owner is also the sweetest lady ever. She was so attending and kind, defining makes the entire experience so much better! She also made us their MOCHA which they make their sauce in house! Definitely recommend coming with some friends for the perfect Instagram shot!

That was awesome! The place is very unassuming, just squashed in next to a row of shops, and easy to miss. But what an awesome little place! They serve breakfasts starting at $7.50 and lunch. And of course some of the most amazing shakes! Only surpassed by their totally delicious coffee. The gentleman serving the counter is super friendly, and very attentive I will definitely come back again

Made a visit today after so long and I’m so glad I did. Excellent customer service, delicious coffee matched with scrumptious food. I will definitely be back to check out their weekly and weekend specials. They offer more than just Killa Shakes 👍

Today I had a lovely breakfast at Cereal Killa Cafe I was really happy to be selected as the first person to be able to come in and try their new amazing menu! The first dish I tried was the Big Breakfast which I loved! It had thick pieces of bread with perfectly poached eggs which was a fantastic way to start the day! Next up I had the Chicken Salad to try get that healthy balance. I really enjoyed the flavour from the chicken and the salad dressing. I would definitely order this again! For dessert I went a little crazy and got their new Chocolate Shake which was INSANELY GOOD! The Coco Pops added great texture and reminded me of my childhood. If you are looking for a sweet treat Cereal Killa Freak Shakes are a must!! As always I really enjoyed my experience at Cereal Killa Cafe as everyone is so friendly and the vibe is really cool. It was also nice talking to the owner Harry as he explained their goals of providing fresh meals made with healthier ingredients. This makes the cafe perfect for any day of the week as you can decide between delicious healthy meals or on your cheat days be a little naughty and get an incredible freak shake!

I've been here a couple of times now, one we had to wait for about 30 mins for a table, the other time we got a table right away as it wasn't busy. Both times have been great! Since I came in a group, I got to try out a few menu items and all of them were delicious. The price is a bit steep, but it's alright as you probably only want to come here once in a while for some guilty pleasure.

After months of following on Instagram I was able to visit this lovely cafe on a trip to Auckland. The shakes were as amazing as I imagined- absolutely delicious and fun to share (or enjoy on your own!) Had breakfast and also lunch over different days and everything we ate was beautifully presented and tasty. On top of that the staff and management are incredibly nice and welcoming. A place you should definitely visit!! Thanks guys, will be back.

Excellent service from the guys, food was delish, their burgers are a must, nice juicy patties!! Couldnt get to try the shakes though as i was too full🤗 will deff come back and try them. Place was nice and clean. We chose to go during a quiet time through out the week as weekends get busy. Their shakes do look like a serial killer lol....Great experience.

Outstanding service. Friendly staff. The omelette could’ve looked nice if rolled up. And the banana can taste better if fry/grill both sides and then put back into the skin again for a stronger caramelised flavour. But overall was a very enjoyable experience. Plenty of parking available too! Service: 5/5 Environment: 5/5 Presentation: 4/5 Food Quality: 4/5 Food Quantity: 5/5 Price per person: $15-$20

Cafe is amazing...... No doubt, I was feeling comfortable, all services like greeting, hygiene and food are well prepared and served in time... My niece and nephew visited this cafe first time..... They enjoyed lot with the games and shakes there . Both demand me to plan and arrange there birthday party in same Cafe. Great thank to owner and staff for such lovely food and environment....😍🎉🎉I give 10 out of 10.

Great service - friendly and accommodating. Their Freakshakes are amazing. This time we tried the Red Velvet and Chocolate Cookie. Also had Avo Smash on a potato rosti, very nice & well presented! Friend had the Bacon & Egg Buttie and said it was good. Definitely recommend.

Good Burger and fries! I didn’t order a Shake but they look amazing! Only downside for me was no place to sit when I went and it was only 3pm or so. Seems like they really need to expand. One star rating off for that. Great customer service. I had to fix the Google info because the ordering online is out of date and you can’t order online anymore and the menu was different and they don’t have many of the burger options they used to.

Amazing breakfast and coffee and a great place for the kids to enjoy shakes. Door front parking, wheelchair access and funky ambience was just additional bonus. Must visit cafe in Auckland.

Went in for the first time last Saturday round lunchtime. Had great DJ playing live, and the atmosphere was awesome. Was served by the owner and 1 other waitress, she was polite and had a good chat with her while placing my order. The owner was a funny English lad who provided some good laughs and made the effort to chat with everyone in the cafe. Ordered a Brisket bun (forgot the name of the order) and a nutella chocolate shake. The brisket was cooked to perfection and the shake was well worth seeing what all the instagram fuss was about. Im definately going there again.....many more times

Great spot!! Awesome menu for food, great coffee & milkshakes & the music they play is on point!

The place is super friendly, the attention received was great. Can't believe such a cafe can be found in plain Dominion Rd! Also: their icecreams easily rivals Giappo's

Average shake but great extras like the cookies and candy floss etc my son loved his cookies and cream shake though so we may go again. Space could be better utilised cause the hallway thing was a waste of space, especially when there was a lot of people. Waited a while for our shakes and the food was okay. Would still rather get a Krusher from KFC or a shake from somewhere else.
Rebekah
It’s a cute cafe, but it’s too small for the amount of seats and tables there are. Definitely need some outside seating. No windows or doors open so it got extremely hot inside.<br/><br/>Upside: The curly fries and nuggets were yum!<br/><br/>My main downfall is: My Nerds shake was decorated with a waffle that was just sitting on the shelf when we walked in. It wasn’t in any container or covered, so I don’t even know how old it was and if anything went on it before it was put on my shake.<br/><br/>Other than that, the staff were friendly to us and the meals were good. Sorry about the low star rating, hopefully I can come back during a less packed time and it could be a different experience.
Felicia
This place is cute. Not a very big cafe but their drinks and food are divine. Thick shakes and booster juices were super yummy!! Food was good but there should be more options for desserts. :)

Came on the weekend, shop was very busy, food came out without any delay, meals was well presented and taste was lovely, great friendly and prompt service, will recommend the food as it was nice and menu has nice options, shakes are also delicious and looks absolutely awesome 😊well done guys.

We ordered the beef burger and crunchy nachos. The beef was dry and tasted like they used cheap mince and the nachos were definitely not crunchy. They added lettuce which gave off water drenching the chips in a pool of oily water. <br/><br/>Not sure if I will try this cafe again.

Little cafe on Dominion Road. Food is okay. Quite a convenient place if you wanna catch up with friends who are living in the area.
Jon
Food took ages to come out (30mins) and it wasn't even that busy. The angus burger was way too salty as were the Nachos and rosti under the creamy mushrooms (stingy portion too). Serving staff were okay. Ordered one of their classic shakes ($15) expecting a large shake; however, it as a rip-off and over-priced. This place has deterioated. Won't be going back to there again.
Cherry
DO NOT RECOMMEND FOR FOOD! <br/>1. Rosti tasted like there was no potato only rosemary way too overpowering. <br/>2. The creamy mushroom sauce was tooo sweet. Tasted like there was sugar in it!!<br/>3. Eggs were hard, which they happily changed (the only plus). Hollandaise was sweet too.<br/>4. Our iced coffee was great.<br/>5. Well as far as the portion size goes, look at the picture! Creamy mushrooms hardly anything!<br/>6. Shakes looked great don’t know how they taste, didn’t try.
Rosanne Choy
Came in for a late lunch today. Both the nachos and the omelette were pretty heavy and packed with cheese. Nachos itself felt pretty oily. Omelette was pretty delicious but a bit too much cheese for me. Ciabatta was buttered well and bread wasn't too hard. Cafe had a huge fan and was well ventilated for the summer.

Staff/service: 3.5/5<br/>Venue: 3/5<br/>Price/portion: 2.5/5<br/><br/>Feeling glad that we have the Zomato gold. I ordered smashed avocado at $17.50, it is alright with just a single egg. My husband had the moorish eggs $16.50, the flavour was alright but lack of freshness. The eggs were overly hard and rubbery.<br/><br/>This is place doesn’t serve good coffee. We ordered mocha and it was weak and overly chocolate taste which we initially thought they gave us hot chocolate instead. Upon asking if our orders was hot chocolate, we got them replaced.<br/><br/>Join Zomato Gold and get 1+1 on food or 2+2 on drinks. Also get a 20% OFF using my referral code SUMA8564P

My new fave lunch spot! Best eggs benedict in Auckland. Tastes different from the other cafes. The sauce is really distinctive and unique to Cereal Killa Cafe.

Loved the decoration, atmosphere + the artwork on the wall. It's creative and perfect for brunch. The staff members are friendly. It's definitely a must visit brunch spot on your days off or on the weekend. The coffee tastes good as well. The price is slightly cheaper than other cafes in Auckland. <br/><br/>The Moorish eggs are delicious! If you love meatballs and eggs, give it a go. The portion size is big and not too expensive. If you're a massive fan of sweets or dessert or generally a sweet tooth, the freak shakes are great! Kids love it and perfect for instagram photos. <br/><br/>Will definitely come back for more Moorish eggs or to try a different food! :)
Jonathan Chen
Slightly dated interior. Good prices. Friendly service. Delicious food. The creamy mushrooms were excellent; the eggs bene good but the hollandaise was a little lacklustre. Presentation of food and drinks great! Clean bathrooms. Recommended.
Baramey Kadeth
Had lovely vibes and decor, with heaps of families so probably a winner with the kids :)<br/><br/>All of the milkshakes looked amazing. The Oreo one seemed bland at first, but because everything else is so sweet and so much it ended up being very enjoyable.<br/><br/>Normally not vegetarian, but the mushroom rosti is actually very enjoyable. Would come again

Excellent place to visit for epic Killa shakes. Their food is excellent too. I had cookies shake, which was yummy. My friend had Natella shake with burger. All the things we teied were tasty. Staff was friendly and prompt.<br/>Will be back for sure
Girl On The Move
I suggest sharing a shake between two. The chicken salad was very good, my husband had the beef burger and chips which were very good. Customer service consistent and good. Could do with another flick of paint, otherwise fantastic place and highly recommend.
Myron
Funny that they call this a NUTELLA shake and then end up using some cheap chocolate hazelnut spread to fool customers!😡<br/>I'm sure if you are charging $16 for one shake then you can afford to use a jar of original "Nutella" instead of using some cheap spread and when asked why aren't they using Nutella they claimed that Nutella is anything with chocolate and hazelnut 🤷🏻‍♂️ like are you serious! <br/>Seriously disappointing and not worth the price

Today I had an incredible brunch with my friend at Cereal Killa Cafe! I had this enormous Caramel Kit Kat Freak Shake and it was insanely good 🙌🏼 The Caramel Ice-cream paired perfectly with the white chocolate shards and donuts. I also had the Eggs Benedict with a gorgeous Beetroot Hollandaise and Bacon wrapped in the shape of roses 🌹 I really enjoyed this dish as it was super fresh and was plated perfectly! My friend got the Falafel Salad and she said it was super fresh and some of the best Falafel she has tasted! Overall our experience was amazing and I can’t wait to go back again 🥰

Lovely and friendly service! We got the Angus beef burger and Cajun chicken burger on the zomato gold deal ($8 a burger + fries). The burgers were very delicious! I had the angus beef burger and it had such a juicy patty, good crispy bacon, and strong, tasty, melty cheese. All of that heavenly goodness combined, made the burger so amazing! The Cajun chicken burger was also very good, my friend really enjoyed it. Fries were alright, would’ve been cool if there was a kumara fries option tho. Overall, burger was very delicious and so worth it on the zomato gold deal!
Kat Santos
The place was a bit untidy when we went and we saw a staff member being told off at the cashier. The overall mood isn't great but the freakshake was really good.
Paige Alexis Scelly
A friend and I went for lunch and wow what an amazing place! The food was great, the shakes were insanely yummy!!! The staff were really friendly and polite! The wall art was also so neat to look at! Super happy with my experience here!! Loved it so much! Will definitely be going back!!

Quality of the food wasn’t good. Undercooked bacon and mushrooms, fairly simple things done wrong. Won’t be back.

Great cafe, mix of healthy food and the most Epic shakes. Husband loved his burger.<br/>Deff will be back

Best shakes in Auckland. A must try. Everying was made fresh. A must try when you are in town. Had the vege burger and breakfast. Staff are really friendly and great atmpsphere.

While it fills the niche of a semi-specialised breakfast joint on the main Dominion Road thoroughfare, I feel like Cereal Killa is missing that tiny something that holds it back from being amazing. <br/><br/>The ambiance is nice, with modern wall art and plant settings lending themselves well to the airy and bright seating. The staff were welcoming, friendly and professional, although it should be noted that our meals took a fair amount of time to come out considering we were the only people there at the time! <br/><br/>On the food side, we got the Full English Breakfast and the Bacon and Egg Omelette, both of which proved to be tasteful and deceptively filling. The Full English was fairly true to tradition, with the mushrooms being a particular highlight. The Omelette was really well flavoured and extremely moorish without sitting too heavy in the stomach. However, it should be noted that both the dishes were EXTREMELY salty - we didn’t mind too much, but I can see that being a drawback for certain people. <br/><br/>Overall, Cereal Killa is a solid choice for a basic breakfast out. We admittedly didn’t try any of their specialty beverages (mostly due to fear for our waistlines - they look r i c h) but from my estimation, it’s missing that special little think that would take it from a low 4 to a solid 5-star.
Margaret Chen
Cute little cafe with vibrant drawings all over the wall. We ordered the omelette, waffles and bagel. The food was beautifully presented with candy floss, wafer sticks and fruit. A little bit too sweet for my liking first thing in the morning, but an absolute treat for others!
Natiella
Food was pretty average, the brisket was dry and not enjoyable to eat and the cabinet food was also pretty average. The shake did make up for the not so great food, it looked better than it tasted but the coffee was great!
MCP
Came here once for brunch; food was average and not many option to choose from. However, their monstroshake was good and can share it with your friends!

I highly encourage Milkshake and Burger lovers to try their meals. Food is fabulous and delicious, their staff is very skilled and well-behaved. And in my experience food was satisfying.

This is a review of 2 halves..... I think this place has the makings to be awesome! But they should concentrate on their niche - I mean that’s why everyone comes here right!<br/>So, if you come for the shakes, you will definitely not be disappointed.... kids, bloggers and anyone with a sweet tooth will love!<br/>On the other hand, the other meals and the general decor (including the cleanliness) need a bit of work to bring the place up to awesome status....<br/>So, don’t get me wrong, if you’re here for the shakes - you’ll definitely love it!<br/>They all look epic! <br/>The rest may leave you feeling a little underwhelmed
Rylee Hg
Food was terribly disappointed, tiny egg sandwich without salad cost $12 overly valued! Shakes are delicious but small. Service wasn’t friendly either :(
James
The shakes are fun but can be quite filling. A few of the meals we ordered had extra ingredients that weren't listen on the menu, which was strange and unfortunate as some in our group didn't end up liking what they got as it had stuff in it they didn't like. For example, we got the Loaded Fries which said it comes with cheese sauce and bacon. But when it arrived it was covered in a red sauce, which we weren't sure was ketchcup or the "rocket sauce" mentioned on other dishes. It was a strange tasting sauce and ruined the dish. The bacon bagel had onions and capers, which looking back at the menu, are ingredients for different bagel. It would be great if they could clarify on the menu as to what is actually in each dish so we know exactly what we are ordering.
Antoinette Sonnekus
We had the cookies and cream milkshake with fries.<br/>Milkshake was good, chips was not that good. Of all four baskets of chips all were over done and cooked in old oil.
Tanya Roberts
I went there after watching a Jimi Jackson youtube video about it and wanted to like this place but I had a disappointing experience. I arrived there lunch time on a Wednesday and there was just one group of four girls but otherwise place was empty. I ordered a pulled pork burger which was a huge amount of mediocre flavoured dryish meat slopped onto two oversized brioche burger buns with a slop of coleslaw. It was so bbq tomato saucey that is wasn't enjoyable. I only ate a quarter of it and left the rest it was that bad. I also ordered a salmon bagel which was very substandard. Overpriced and underdelivered I'm afraid.
Judy
Came for a visit as was close by. Food is average, chicken is very dry. The guy took the order kept asking my orders without getting it right.
Augustine Tea
Nice burger from this place. Free range marinated Chicken with kimchi and Mayo inside. Tasted perfect :) Place was neat and clean. Staffs was friendly and polite. Good services :)

Went for the pretty milkshakes - tried the Choc Nutella & Mint choc and was recommend to drink them with chips to chill out the sweetness (do it - it worked). They were very nice but a bit expensive but they are a treat. Definitely give it a try. Service and cafe were 👍🏼.
Anastasia Matiatos
Cereal Killer is not the damn best. Been here once and got the Caramel Waffle killer shake which costs $16.50. I found it way too sweet as i'm not a fan of sweet things but was eager to try the shakes. like it wasn't bad and wasn't amazing, probably won't be back. x
Cil Van Den Brink
Sooo much salmon on a bagel, it is amazing! They have gluten free Bread too! And the place is really cozy, cute chairs! The staff is very friendly! We Will def come again soon!
Bameliamolesi
Amazing experience , and enjoyed it . The Waffles were a big hit for us , we received it hot with fresh bananas ! The shakes were beautiful , and a major sugar rush 🦋 abit pricey but worth it's all !!!! SERVICE 11/10 loved the atmosphere you shared working as a team and managing the cafe !
Luke Amon Thompson
Over cooked eggs worse big breakfast something you would expect from a bakery. They forgot my hot water twice for my coffee and my gf coffee was cold<br/>

With milkshakes that are purposely made to star on Instagram accounts, (guilty as charged)  and it's clever play on words name, Cereal Killa should be a very popular eating spot.  It likely is on some days, on this Monday lunch time it was a ghost town.<br/><br/>If you come here and don't order one of their larger than life shakes, you're missing the point.  It's a must.  They are big, they're cumbersome, they're over the top, they're designed to end your day and send you home for an early nap.  The Chocolate Nutella shake is a whopping $15.<br/><br/>$15!? I hear you say?  (queue the Pulp Fiction quote)<br/>"They don't put Bourbon or nothing in that? That's just milk and ice cream?"<br/>"Last I heard ..."<br/><br/>You get a lot more than just milk and ice cream with this shake.  The problem is the mountain of artificial cream from a can that covers the shake.  No freshly whipped cream ... For $15?  A Milkshake of this magnitude commands freshly whipped cream.  Cereal Killa, you're better than this.  The rest of the shake is garnished with copious amounts of chocolate buttons, chocolate flake, chocolate sauce with nuts and, well, you get the picture.<br/><br/>The Danger Beef Brisket burger is fairly standard.  What enticed me to order it was the addition of smoked cheddar.  Unfortunately the chunk of cheddar was placed in the burger at the last second before being served, like an afterthought.  Insufficient heat, and insufficient time to let it melt into the other ingredients of the burger and become moreish, and not enough of the actual cheese in the burgher to have it feature in many bites.  You ever had a steak and cheese pie and at then at the end say to yourself, "where was the cheese?".<br/><br/>A mixed bag I reckon.<br/>It wouldn't take much for these guys to send it to another level.
Inaua Dean
The milkshakes look amazing. Inventive and creative. We ordered the choc mint. I do think it is a little overpriced for what you get and at times finding a park is a bit of a hassle.
Jenny Da
I got Uber eats from here and the food is very very average. The fried chicken in the salad was dry, the sauce on top was the only thing that tasted alright. <br/><br/>The salmon bagel looked like something not served in a restaurant, tasted quite bland and the pasta was also just very average.<br/><br/>Nothing tasted nice. And nothing we ate more than a couple of bites.<br/><br/>Also the delivery on this was delayed 25 mins??? What took you so long to make this.
Crystal Chan
Last time we were here it was a very busy and vibrant cafe. Great food and service. We visited this again and we were disappointed. The breakfast options are limited and taste very average. Service weren’t great either. I felt like I walked into a cafe ran by kids. The wall deco and the milkshakes are aimed at the group of younger generation. To say the least it’s not your typical sit down and enjoy kind of Sunday morning cafe.
Ellie Siu
Very nice! Runny eggs, fresh sour dough, healthy homemade hash. I enjoyed it! We also had waffles, lots of fruits and the caramel sauce was not too much sweet. Impressed. Can’t wait to try their shakes next time!
Gnxsta23
My team and I had lunch here today , the place was empty , I had the danger burger and some fries , the $5 portion fries were very stingy and the burger was ok but not great the meat was dry and covered in to much sweet gravy , poor customer service! My work colleague was told there was no avocado so she couldn’t order avocado Smash but one of our colleagues had avocado on there bagel and also the couple next to us received half an avocado with there salad? They also forgot to bring a dish out that was ordered for lunch when they were told they forgot a dish the Chinese guy rudely said it’s coming so we had finished our lunch and my colleague just received her lunch, no apology Nothing!!! We will definitely not be back here anytime soon that’s for sure, must be new owners taken over hopefully they can get some training in customer service!!
Selina
The Drinks looked amazing! Services are welcoming, kid friendly environment. However the portion of the food is just too tiny. Even with Zomato Gold, between me and my hubby we paid 31 dollars(otherwise 43) for a Drink, a smashed avocado and a hot dog, but both of us walked away with a half empty stomach...which we could get pretty full for the same price elsewhere. May be this place is just for drinks.

This cafe Surprised me a lot. I wasn't expect too much for a cafe on dominain rd, i was think environment might be awful. But their environment was pretty good and pest control also doing well. Omelete looks ok but taste delicious! they put a lot of effort on waffle. I'll definitely will come back and try the pretty smoothie.

Great little spot if your wanting somewhere different. Have been here twice now and both times enjoyed the food and shakes. we had the hot dogs which were nice, shakes are really sweet so difficult to finish so we shared this time. Would return again

Amazing service!! The guy that made our milkshake confirmed our dietary needs- not many places do! They also gave someone a free drink, after the customer accidently spilt it! Extremely clean bathrooms. Good vibes. Will definately go back

I have been here a few times and have not been let down. The freak shakes are all very good and can’t complain about any other meals there. However the wait time is horrendous. Be prepared to wait at least 20 minutes minimum to be seated. I have had to wait 50 minutes before so do not be suprised by the wait time. Quite nice inside the store as well.
Helen
We went for brunch, and there were about two other tables taken, so the place was pretty empty when we went. Service was quite slow, it took about 15 minutes for our first plate to come to the table. We ordered the coconut mango smoothie, which was great! The red velvet shake was also perfect! It was slightly too sweet for our tasting, but it was great otherwise. The big breakfast was a smash, and the pork burger and danger brisket burger was also amazing, though slightly smaller than imagined, given the price. Otherwise a nice place with very friendly staff :)
Roxathina Samupo
Didn’t live up to the hype. Best thing about it is how pretty the shakes look because of the extra things they have in and on the mason jars. We ordered the mint choc and the cookies and cream shakes as well as the Danger Briskets which were all nice. The food was better than the shakes though. The place was really crowded and the seating arrangement was really tight and cramped. We had to wait for an available table but once we ordered, we got everything at the same time which was good. We won’t be going here again because it’s far from where we are and the food isn’t worth the drive.
Shannon Boyce
Have been here a few times and it can be hit or miss. Ultimately I have decided that you have to come for the waffles. If you want something savoury then go somewhere else cause these guys nail the waffles every time and other menu items have left me disappointed.
Bobohood528
Always serve the amazing freak shakes . Great creation and warm service. The owner was very friendly. It’s one of the best cafe for your instagram photos
AK
Great place for special day! Our little one loved the amazing milk shake!!! She spent long time choosing from creative kid friendly menu, and fun filled deco. Food presentations were so fun and whimsical she loved every bit of it.
Nalisha Sen
Went for Sunday brunch, they were busy so service was a bit slow. Highly recommend the shakes! The French toast was a little bit eggier than I’d have liked but overal not a bad dish. The chicken bagel was good and the vege burger got top marks for the patty.
Mulik.aditya99
Loved this place. Absolute treat to be here if your looking for some good dessert. The staff was friendly, ambience was great and the food was just delicious...<br/>We ordered the chocolate oreo and candy crush. Both were just perfect and truly awesome.<br/>Will be coming back soon to have a great dessert again...😊

I Love this place! I can help but order smashed avo every time. Last time I went I also had a cookies and cream freak shake... it was well worth the wait! Staff are very friendly and attentive. The space has been perfectly utilised and is a must go!
Tovia Va&#039;aelua
If he was the owner, he scored big in my books. Hint: if you own the place, go out and talk to the people who chose your place over all the endless possibilities for a Saturday morning. Coming out to give coloring books and pencils was a very welcoming gesture. Thank you. The food was simple, tasty, well constructed (e.g. didn't fall apart when picked up) and generous. Family of 4 kids left there very happy and so parents were equally satisfied. Warning: if your 3yo orders the shake with the NERDS, don't do it. It's massive. Fortunately, she had a support crew. We'll be back.

Came here for lunch, it took a really long time for our order to arrive. The food was very average wasn’t anything special. The staff were friendly but the food let it down.
Ompong Monkey
Reception and service was good, menus given to my friends and I as soon as we were seated. Got 3 shakes (chocolate Nutella, cookies ‘N cream and caramel waffle) and the killa waffles with the caramel sauce. Would come again though slightly pricey.
Sassy Radish
Nice interior and super friendly staff, made a massive effort to get us seated as soon as we entered even though it was extremely busy. The acai bowl was tasty but way overpriced. Menu is also quite limited.
Niamh Slattery
Friendly cafe with a cool interior. The staff are friendly and welcoming 😊<br/>We had brunch recently and I had the smashed avo in toast which was lovely but I had asked for multi grain instead of sourdough which didn't happen but either way it was tasty .himself had the bacon and egg buttie, which was good too and really filling. However the service is pretty relaxed and takes a time luckily we were there early

Definitely was an instagramable place. One of the shakes came neat and pretty but the other one was lopsided and tipped after one minute before I could take a nice photo (example below) so obviously paying $16 and getting that mess was not convenient. In regards to the taste, when something looks that good, you definitely can't assume it'll taste like heaven. It was sickly sweet and I couldn't finish it. The top was mostly whipped cream to my dismay (I thought it would be all ice cream). Other than that, it would be a place I'd go to once and leave it at that.
Annika
It was really good, although the milkshake was pretty sweet. In addition, it is a nice place to stay and to have a chat (,but the toilets could be better...)
Dee
Not the place to go if you are on a diet, they serve high calorie milkshakes which is not for the faint hearted, staff is nice and friendly, it is a modern cafe style with cooked and cabinet food also
Danielle Burling-Claridge
Shakes are really delicious I've tried most of them now. I will say that if you're not good at getting through sweet things, it's probably better if you share with a friend - although in saying that if you leave without feeling like you're going to slip into a coma I think you missed the experience. Only low score because the food isn't 5/5 like the shakes are. The food isn't bad just regular cafe food.

I’ve been meaning to stop by for the longest time, they’re well known for their masterful presentation & legendary Killa shakes. Rustic furniture, a Joe Murray style mural & vibrant cyan feature wall, a testament to the exuberant vibe of the cafe. It was a quiet Saturday morning & I’d decided to grab an iced coffee & caramel waffles...mmmmm...the waffles, nothing short of amazing - Cooked to perfection with a slight crisp on the surface, soft interior housing 2 generous scoops of velvety vanilla ice cream & caramelised banana. Drizzled in caramel sauce, topped with pashmak & garnished with shards of dehydrated banana, a beast of a waffle. Service was great, smiles go a long way and there was no shortage of that with everyone enjoying their meal. If you’re feeling playful or just want to be “wowed” pay em a visit. You won’t leave disappointed (:

The drinks were good and the food looked good but didn’t taste as amazing as it looked. Would still go there again though for a drink and sweets.

I’ve been here twice in an attempt to satisfy my sweet tooth, having tried the classic nutella shake as well as the mint choc and strawberry special shakes. :) <br/><br/>The presentation of the milkshakes never dissapoint and is what you pay for, with the price of two special shakes coming to $32. Flavour wise, however, they are nothing out of this world but still satisfying and even almost sickening with the large portion sizes (as expected with the cost of each milkshake). I would definitely share only one special shake between two people next time..<br/><br/>From my experience, the service and wait can be quite slow, even on a day when the Cafe isn’t that busy. <br/><br/>Food: 3/5 <br/>Portion: 5/5<br/>Service: 2/5<br/>Environment: 4/5

They’ve changed owners recently and the standard has really dropped. For example, it took them a LONG time to make 4 flat whites and they were burnt and weak, simply awful! The staff were really nice but we won’t go back to a cafe that doesn’t know how to make coffees. <br/>
Josh Nufablé
Really average experience here. Nothing was wow about the food or shakes. I have been here many times before but probably not in the last year at least. Really feels like the quality and standards have dropped considerably. Freak shakes were nothing more than flavoured milk with canned whipped cream on top, a shake should be thick with ice cream, this definitely wasn’t. Disappointing, I wouldn’t recommend it and won’t be rushing to come back.
Sunema Tuifao
Staff were lovely, atmosphere was awesome and the food definitely killa! My daughter & I really enjoyed it and can't wait to go back 😊 Looking for parking is a slight problem but overall it was GREAT!! 🖒
Caitlin
Wanted to go to this cafe for SO long and was so, so disappointed! Açai bowl was ok, definitely not worth going for. Coffee was average and they mucked up our orders bringing us the wrong smoothie (ordered the banana Nutella) it took them an additional 15 minutes to bring the right smoothie and it was gross anyway. <br/>Wouldn’t recommend going here unfortunately.
Louise
Staff here are extremely friendly and welcoming! They came to check up on us once in a while to make sure everything was okay. <br/><br/>The drinks look and taste amazing and the food is very affordable and delicious too!

Came to see what all the hype and rave was about, arrived on a busy Saturday afternoon we waited for about 5 mins to be seated however the manager (who i think it was) made us feel welcomed by giving a rundown on the menu. We ordered the premium and the cookies and cream shake, we had to wait for a while for the shakes to come out. However by the time it had arrived at first the appearance made the wait worthwhile. In terms of the taste and quality of the shakes if i was to be honest it would be average. Nothing too fancy, the ingredients tasted like something you would find in your local supermarket and make it at home. I'm assuming the presentation of the shakes is what makes the place so popular. We also ordered the killa waffles which were also in my opinion 'average' as the sauce was very empowering. Unfortunately we were still waiting for the waffles even after we had finished the shakes. I was sympathetic towards the employee who was apolegetic. Service was really friendly so big thumbs up to the employees. The ambience was just as good however the seating arrangements and space is just too small. In all there's not much I can say but I will be making a return to try other items on the menus the shakes were just a no for me.
Farah Mohammed
Finally got to try one of these amazing milkshakes! I can definitely say they taste as good as they look. However they are very sweet, I shared one and that was definitely enough.<br/><br/>Would definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys milkshakes!
Emz
Really nice coffee and food, and so surprisingly affordable for what you get! Enjoyed my veggie bun. I must coke back for a milkshake! I have attempted to go here 3 times and finally (on a thursday morning) managed to get in and get a seat because it usually so packed :)

If you like a bit of cotton cloud on top of your waffles with a bit of banana and nuts hiding under caramel gloss then you'll be wanting the 'Killa Waffle.' 😉😉😉 I enjoyed it even though it probably made my sugar levels high. Lol But that is to be expected when you order something insane like this. 👌<br/>If you're not up for sugars today then try out some of their savouries they have on the menu.<br/>I gave it 4.5 only because of the warm air inside considering it was pretty muggy outside. Hopefully they consider air cons in the near future.<br/>The shakes were a nice treat, not too over flowing with treats and not too sweet to consume. Although I should have stopped here, considering I just had more than my sugar intake. Lol but nope. 😂<br/>The staff seemed pretty among themselves but very prompt and lovely when taking our orders and serving.
Kyuzizi
I had an oreo freak shake and a rasberry freak shake. It was super sweet but super yum. Thought I could not finish it (as it was just too sweet) but at the end I did. Will be nice if it was bit cheaper. Paid $30+ for two drinks.
Louise Ngaei
Cute little cafe, worth going for the crazy milkshakes!!! Worth checking out for the instagram value haha. Quite small premises, so try to go not during peak. Good for novelty value.
Rezz Ca
Yummy shakes and simple dish, i ordered cookies and cream shake and smashed avo. Shake is pretty good and the smashed avo is very basic. Customer service is very good :)
Fraser Lewis-Smith And Alana Ah Tani
Really amazing and rememberable experience here as the shakes were just amazing and something i will always remember. I paid $17.50 for the big shake you see below and I couldn’t even finish it, it’s definitely worth the price but a one off experience and it got kinda of sickening fast, the one behind the big shake in pic was a Carmel one which my partner had and it was also amazing but even though was small he also found it a bit sickening and hard to finish, but again was worth the price. I also ordered a pasta salad which was around $9 and that was delicious.
Annie Wilson
Good place to meet up with friends and take photos for social media posts. They have a wide selection to choose from... food and drinks! $20-$40 per person depending on what you're after.
Sylvester Kuo
A nice little gem at the heart of Dominion Road, Cereal Killa Cafe offers a nice selection of health food options. Obviously catering to millennials but still has decent food.
Peneueta Willis
Really enjoyed our time there the food was good and filling for us. The Shakes were Devine. You need to be ready for the shakes they are intense. I had the salmon and cream cheese bagel. It was good. No complaints. Nice place to chill have brunch with the ladies. Good service nice ambience and good food
Vikram.vij
This is situated on Dominion road and looked very famous among all age types. You can have a variety of shakes but one problem they are out of stock on many shakes.<br/>Coming on the shake, presentation is what attracts here and taste I would say is above average.I will try other shakes and hopefully will get a chance to raise the rating next time..
Shihana
Went there for a brunch and must say the milkshakes were an absolute killer. Quick service and amazing food. The best part of the milkshakes is its not too sweet like the other places around. So if you still do have a sugar craving and concerned about what you eat cereal killa is definitely a place to drop by.
Aman
My favourite milkshake place in New Zealand the milkshake don’t just look amazing but taste just as good haven’t eaten anything here so wouldn’t now about the food the but the milkshakes are the best and are well worth the wait and price and the staff is amazing alway cracking jokes and just have a good vibe
Kirsten
I felt like having milkshakes, so dropped by and ordered the Peanut Killa and friend ordered the Cookies n' Cream killashake from the Classics range. The thing with milkshakes is that the texture of it is thick, milky and creamy. The Peanut Killa has bits of crushed peanuts stuck onto the jar with peanut butter, which I scraped and ate most of! Whipped cream and chocolate on top, I couldn't finish the whole shake! It would be good to share one with two people! Staff were friendly; a nice and chill environment to dine in.

First time to visit this place and can say that their indulgent shakes is a must-try. Tried the Cookies N Cream topped with whipped cream, Oreo cookies and chocolate sticking outside the glass. This made the shakes look huge. Had a teaser taste of Chocolate Nutella topped with cream, chocolate flakes and nuts. They are both good! The place is popular so be ready to wait for a table and shakes to be served. We went there today, 40 minutes before they closed and the service was fast and friendly.
Sheryn Walker
We had the killa shakes and though it took a while to be seated because it was so busy it was definitely worth the wait. The staff were super friendly and our drinks came quite quickly as well. It’s such a cute place and while it is small and busy the menu is amazing!
Juleigh Fariu Wichman Luu
Been here more than enough times to say how much I love it! Their killashakes are always on point, presentation and taste wise, as well as their staff! always cheerful and friendly. Downfall is the space within this cafe because it gets so busy that we had to wait a while for a table :( but once the shakes arrived, it was worth it lol. I tried the pavlova, chocolate nutella, and peanut, and they're all so damn delicious. Would definitely recommend this place to everybody!
Kelsie Smith
What a fun place, as a one off! Always busy on weekends, quite a long wait to get seated and seating is all very cramped. Lots of shouting and many loud noises. However the menu is such a novelty including their famous Freakshakes and crazy food items. Definitely don't double down on a sweet drink and food, it really is overwhelming. I had the salmon bagel which was beautiful, however I had a Freakshake and really disliked it. The flavouring had a strong artificial taste and the candyfloss topping was nothing like your childhood gala memories! A saving grace however was their sickeningly tasty PB + J condensed milk French toast. By far the winner on the menu.<br/>Overall it was a good one off for fun, the kids loved it. However not worth the squishing and shouting that comes along with it.<br/><br/>Food: 3.5/5<br/>Service: 2/5<br/>Value: 2.5/5
Bring The Hot Sauce
Holy moly. I walked outta this place with one cray cray sugar rush. The novelty factor here is high guys and I love me some novelty. <br/><br/>Great place to take the kids. They will be pinging of the bloody walls 😳 Food was good and the service friendly. I'll be back after the sugar come down...
CrazyCatLady_EmmaC
Great cooked breakfast and fancy shakes. Friendly staff and plenty of carpark outside on the Main Street or the street nearby. Would prefer the coffee to be stronger but otherwise enjoyed my food there every time I go.
Sunaina Goundar
Had really high expectations after constantly seeing this show up on my gram, however due to popularity we had to wait a while for a table. Milkshakes were average, presentation was very appealing however taste was average.
Bubbly Peanut Butter
Never sick of this place! When I am craving for shakes, this place will definitely satisfy me :) <br/>Had a smashed avo' and Caramel Waffle shake 😍 <br/>Absolutely yum
Jessica Bishop
super yummy i recommend their salted caramel smoothie but instead of getting the peanut butter base ask for the nutella one! it will give you diabetes but its worth it
Aimee.
The milkshakes here are awesome and so delicious. They're topped with loads of chocolate, biscuits, candy and sauce. However they are super creamy, rich and sweet. The waffles were also really sweet. Definitely would only come here once in a while.
Anabelle
For the sake of the Instagram photo, you must give Cereal Killa a try! A girlfriend & I visited the cafe a few weeks back - it was a Monday so it wasn't busy, which was nice. We both ordered a milkshake & the Pulled Pork Bun - our food came out first, which worked out well, as I don't think I could have finished my bun if I'd had the milkshake beforehand! <br/>The Pulled Pork Bun was delicious! We expected that it would have come with a side of some description, fries maybe, but after the milkshake we decided that that was probably for the best. The milkshakes are presented beautifully & give a real "Wow!" factor, but once you get past the ice cream & bits, it's just a milkshake. <br/>Interior design was plain & simple. Bit of a tight fit, especially if you're at a table for 2, but the staff were lovely - definitely recommend a visit.
Olivia 😄
I love Cereal Killa Cafe's shakes they are fabulous I would definitely recommend this to everyone specially to kids who love sugar and sweet things
Eat Nom Bliss
Ordered the Beef Brisket Burger ($15) and Berry Waffles ($17), I was expecting to have good quality for a cafe that I've heard from several others was pretty good.<br/><br/>Unfortunately my expectations were let down very quickly. <br/>The Beef Brisket was lacking in flavour and seasoning.<br/><br/>The Berry Waffles were presented nicely but the taste and flavours were severely lacking. The berry coulis was something out from gilmours (The waiter even said that they weren't fresh).<br/><br/>Cereal Killa falls in the category of cafes that are over priced and over rated. This will be my first and LAST visit to this cafe.
Grace Su
tried the infamous freak shakes. walked in on a weekend and all the tables were full so we had to wait, but no big deal. <br/>i got the strawberry diva which looked amazing, but was a tad bit too sweet for my taste but if you're a sweet tooth then these are for you. didn't manage to finish the drink but got lots of nice pictures of the drink and the nice decor.

My 13-year-old son was raving about this place. So...On Saturday the 15th of July 2017 we battled the Auckland Traffic from Titirangi to Mt Eden. Took about 20minutes. Arrived parched and famished, only to be made to queue for another 20minutes. Finally our turn to be seated and this slimeball english guy (I assume he was the owner) lets a group of his mates cut in front of us!  Wait another 10. A very polite and apologetic waiter eventually showed us to a table. My wife ordered a flat white. She said it was good. I ordered a booster vegetable juice. It was okay. My son ordered a freak shake. He Loved it! Decor was clean and bright. The table and seating plan was poor. Get rid of the ramp and put more tables in. AND BE FAIR TO YOUR QUEUING, PAYING CUSTOMERS. Have your mates round on your time, not mine!...<br/>....I will be returing on the 6th of Ausust 2017. Lets see what my next review is like...Its all up to you Cereal Killa Cafe!<br/> <br/>Returned with son and daughter. They loved your freakshakes. Staff were very pleasent...but im just not into waiting 25min for a table....sorry, not my style of cafe. Best of luck though.
Dxlche
It takes a long time to get the milkshakes out but these babies are worth waiting for. <br/>The sugar laden confectionary delights really do satisfy those days when all you want is to load up on calories (is this a thing? Probably not). <br/>The caramel one is really really good 👌

So I've been meaning to do a review on this place I have been here a couple of times just been forgetting to do it.<br/>I love the environment very vintage, modern casual, the atmosphere is ok I kinda prefer to have a bit of music playing in the background just at times when there's no music theres that awkward silence 😐. <br/>Shakes - Now the shakes are just crazy as in crazy big and every time a shake was on its way to a customer you could just hear and see the expressions on people's faces it was just incredible to look at, but that's it. To be honest the shakes tasted really good, but once you've taken your Instagram or snapchat pics and you've eaten all the candy, you are left with half a shake. The shake is amazing but I just wish you could get more.<br/>Other than that the food is amazing I've had the salmon bagel which is my fav, I've tried all the burgers and they are all quite filling I'm not much of a hearty burger person so I really like the portions in the burger. I've also had the acai bowl which is delicious however, I ordered a bacon and egg wrap and from the glass cabinet it looked so delicious. I had an option to heat it up which I opted for it did take a while but when I got it, it was cold and it tasted like it had been sitting in there for a couple of days. <br/>Overall the food was amazing as well as the shakes. I mean killa shake sure is a right name. The staff were more than amazing had really good service very friendly aswell was greeted with a smile. I would (actually have been for a long time) would recommend this place and come here again. -M- <br/>

Heard quite a lot about their freak shakes and finally made it here on a rainy Sunday arvo. <br/><br/>Ordered their salmon bagel and their pulled pork bun. Bagel was nice -nothing too special about it. The pulled pork bun was yum. Burger buns could've been a little more softer and warmer. Was a bit dry. Other than that, wasn't bad. <br/><br/>And of course, their freak shakes. I got the "peanut killa" killa shake. Presentation was on point but other than that.... nothing too special. To be fair, this was my first freak shake so you could say I had quite high expectations for these things (lol). Was literally just caramel sauce, cream, peanut pieces, chocolate flakes aaaaannnddd milk. Not sure if it was meant to be milkshake but it seemed like normal milk at the bottom 🤔<br/><br/>Definitely keen to go back and try out their other freak shakes though. Their service was nice and friendly too.
Veronica Te
I personally think this place is over-hyped. The freakshakes are visually attractive and 'gram-worthy' however the taste of them and their food menu is so average. The decor is fun and young with lovely staff.
Cee
Was so amazed by the yummy and beautiful sundaes!! Definitely a great place to go to and there was a small room for seating as well. Be warned it is very sweet but sooooooo delicious!! We got the tower with cloud and Nutella shakes.
Ayla Jay
finally after so long got to go here!! loooved the breakfast bun, and the milkshakes were amazing! only downfall would be the seating arrangements, service was fast would definitely come here again!
Jahlal Wasul Al-din Ibrahim
Amazing shakes and great food, the slow-cooked brisket bun is an absolute winner, judging by some of the previous reviews it seems that Cereal Killa is a victim of its own success, I have seen lines out the door sometimes waiting for a table because it really that good, amazing atmosphere especially when there is the great DJ Manchoo present, the shakes and good really are worth the wait, great service and very friendly staff, kid-friendly and great fun for the family!
Lana
This place is great!!! The food is so yum! And the main attraction to this place, the milkshakes are so so good! Loved the Nutella one personally. 100% will be back to get another milkshake at least for sure.
Yom
A bit confusing walking in whether we wait to be seated or order at counter, was not greeted when we walked in so went to order at the counter and was told to sit first. Small shop, not many available tablets for two. Ordered Strawberry Diva killer shake which was amazing, will definitely be returning if I can find parking.
Nicole Fearon
If you're looking for jaw dropping shakes this is the place to go. Be warned they're a meal all on their own! There's always a wait for a table but it's worth it.
Angela (A Style Collector)
I've only been here once so I really need to come back again. We tried the cookies and cream shake and coconut and mango smoothie and they did not disappoint. The cookies and cream was insane but it was really good. The shake was also not too sweet.
Kahlia_neal
Me and my partner decided to try this place last weekend, we were not impressed by the service received at all. Firstly we were asked to wait for a table that one would only be 5 mins away and we were happy to do that but then some other waiter just stepped in and gave the table to another group of people so we had to wait longer for a table, we then got a table where there was literally not even 30cm either side so you couldn't even have a conversation without being listened in on, the waiter served 3 other tables that arrived after us, that was when my partner pulled a waiter over and said we've been ready to order for about 10 mins. We then waited almost an hour for our food, mine was just eggs on toast and my partner had the burger, the food was nice but not worth the wait and I got mine about 15 mins before my partner had his. Our drinks came out in a reasonable time but not worth the hype. Overall we weren't impressed, would not recommend this place and would not ever go back.
Talita Faletau
We waited more than 30mins for our milkshakes, but it's worth it. Recommend this place to anyone visiting Auckland. Check it out and enjoy 😋
Arkisunday
Great milkshakes and absolutely MASSIVE!! Great food especially breaky. Love the mint choc ,strawberry diva and caramel waffle, the also have kids sizes in all the shakes!!
Debbie L2
The staff here first and foremost are amazing, we arrived there half hour before closing and was still welcomed. Of course anything sweet and smothered in chocolate is amazing, so worth the money and ruining the diet for. The detail on some of the little addons to the shakes are a nice touch. If only they opened for longer hours but enjoyed our visit there. Of course will visit again.
Steph Korucu
Amazing milkshakes - more like a cross between a sundae and a milkshake. They look and taste awesome. Definitely a place for sweet-toothes. Friend had smashed avo which looked good too. Nice ginger crunch slice. Coffee ok, it's not their specialty 😊 friendly staff. Very popular so a little wait for a table but not too bad. Be a great place for a slightly older kid's birthday party.
Seamus M.
Came especially for their shakes! They're awesome. Very sweet but good! Nice modern cafe with awesome staff who have great customer service skills. Will definitely come back for a shake and to eat.
Leonardo Law
Love this place! Staff have always been great! They have quite great healthy options too! It's so cool how they have Killa Shakes! Awesome for those Instagram posts!
Meghan
Went in for the freak shakes. OMG they taste as amazing as they look!! Ordered a regular sized one for myself and a baby shake each for both of my kids. The baby shakes are the perfect size for little kids and look and taste just as good as the regular sized ones. The staff were super friendly and we didnt have long to wait to get out freak shakes. Overall very happy with our visit today.
Hannah Wright
Amazing service. The guy who looked after us was a legend. Attentive and seemed so happy to be there. Shakes of course were incredible. Would go back again tomorrow but I think I will still have my food baby from today!
Sarah Shaw
Disappointed. Had high hopes for this cafe. It took a while to grab a Waiter to take our order. When we finally did she was unfriendly. Fortunately, the other staff where pleasant and friendly. The Shakes did not arrive together. Meaning one was left hanging until each Shake arrived. I had the Peanut Freak Shake. Was definitely not the best shake I have had. My friends ordered the Nutella shake. The actual shake itself was just banana and milk with no hint of Nutella. They were totally disappointed. We finally went to pay and their eftpos was down. Meaning we had to trek across the road to the nearest ATM, with some of us incurring a transaction fee. No compensation was offered.
Jess
The drinks are definitely the highlight of this place. A bit too sweet for my liking, but they look amazing. We got the Chocolate Nutella and a mini sized Caramel Waffle. As for food - it's all pretty standard cafe eats. We had the salmon bagel and waffles. Interior is bright and friendly, although the seats are a bit cramped. I'd love to go again to try the Cookies and Cream shake.

Cereal Killa Cafe - A simple ambience when you walk in. Blue statement wall, good choice of colour -calm blue. Sat at the table and although I like the rustic furniture I believe the large table we were sitting at was too rustic, when I bumped the table it was quite unstable and caused the glasses of water to spill. The waiter gave us time to greet those who were already there and browse the menu for a few minutes before coming over to see if any of us were ready to order anything. Straight off the bat this waiter was awesome. He was welcoming, enthusiastic and seemed so pumped about us being there. We proceeded to order amd he gave great explanations of the menu which he obviously knew from memory and gave great recommendations. He validated everyones choices which gave us all confidence in what we had chosen to get. <br/><br/>I ordered the Nutella Killa Shake which was resonably priced for what i received. It is definatley an indulgent item for me as i prefer savoury types of food. However if you are a sugary sweet lover than this will be heaven for you. The presentation was on point 👌. I do love nutella and the shake was great. All the extras on top and around the glass made it fun to eat and makes an instagram worthy picture. If you order a shake remember to get a savoury dish to go along with it because there is only so much sweetness someone can handle (my fiance made the mistake of ordering a shake and the candy floss waffles - they are magical but the sweetness overload was 💯). <br/><br/>I also ordered a buttie called the beast which was a double bacon and double egg sandwich. This was dissapointing. The sandwich presentation was plain and so was the taste. I think if they served fries I would have enjoyed those better. <br/><br/>The waiter had reccommend to my friend to get the mince on toast, which is a kiwi classic and although it sounds so plain I must say it was the best dish on the table. The mince had almonds in it which gave a nice texture and nutty flavour to the mince. The yoghurt and mint sauce on the side help you to refresh your palate especially having a sweet shake on the side. <br/><br/>Overall I enjoyed the shake, the price was reasonable but the food could do with an upgrade. The shake was an experience for me and the staff were so kind and helpful.
I_like_pickles
Pretty impressive Freakshakes. Although they do take a while to be served. Worth the wait for such a piece of art haha.<br/><br/>I would only come here for the Freakshakes. The items on the menu aren't very exciting in my opinion anyway. <br/><br/>The Freakshakes are quite full on and full of flavour.
Where To Next Auckland
This is one of THE places to get freakshakes in Auckland! Chocolate, Strawberry and so many toppings.. from brownies, to candy floss and cookies! Your sweet tooth with definitely satisfied!
Bryan Chan
For a cafe I wouldn't say this is the best experience I've had. Decor is modern and has a chill kiwi vibe to it. Staff was amazingly friendly. I asked the server what his favourite dish was which is the mince on toast. I ordered it without a doubt. Also got the peanut Killa (peanut milkshake with toppings) and a flat white. The flat white came out first (which was expected) A taste I'm not familiar with as I choose what cafes I go to as I like certain roasters. This coffee bean is very acidic which is something I don't go for but was a nice change and tasted somewhat refreshing. Moments later the meal came out - <br/>Mince on toast with a poached egg. The poached egg is slightly too cooked for me as the yolk wasn't runny as I prefer them to be,<br/>Very nice savory taste on the mince. Nicely spiced. The mince also had almonds in it which gives it a nice texture. Also served with yogurt with mint on the side. Which is a nice palette cleanser.<br/>The shake was the perfect ending for the meal.<br/>Towards the end I had a good chat with I believe is the owner or manager. The source theirs product from small local shops which is really cool.
Miura Elikana
This place is usually busy but we were fortunate enough to arrive when another table was leaving so we didn't have to wait long. I really enjoyed the toppings on the shakes. They only have 2 options to choose from. If you want more options I recommend Casa Del Gelato in Parnell or Mt Eden. <br/><br/>The waffles were crisp and delicious, maybe don't order the shakes and waffles unless you don't mind your teeth falling out from the sugar rush. 😀 My sister ordered a salmon bagel which she said was perfect and hit the spot.

It’s been almost 5 years (!) since we’ve written a review on this place, and in between the repeated visits, this time is a little... no, a lot…. different. Gone were the potato rosti and omelettes, the new owners are opting for some serious insta-worthy #killashakes that are taking social media by storm. Walking in you’ll recognise the same layout — ramped pathway to the left and tables to the right, but the feature wall has been painted over with a bright teal blue with killer typography on the menus. The huskies chortled through the menu that juxtaposed some pretty sinful-looking freak-shakes with more virtuous acai bowls and smashed avos. Apparently the new owner is a nutritionist and we love it. <br/><br/>As one would expect, freak shakes were greeted immediately by phone-cameras and the wide eyes of giddy children — each creation was an impressive architecture of candy floss, ice cream and lollies, stuck down with Nutella ganache and chocolate sauce. Kid heaven, something straight out of Hansel and Gretel perhaps? Mid-meal we realised that there were mini kids’ shakes available which would have been a little kinder on the waistline and the blood sugar as we all struggled to finish our glasses. The savoury items were decent, though we all knew they were there to relieve our sugar-laden guilt. <br/><br/>Check out our huskies’ food-coma-induced thoughts here: husk.co.nz/lunches/cereal-killa-january-2017

Visited lunch time today. No queue! Took my 2 kids for lunch and a shake. Have to say the service was exceptionally good! I had iced coffee and avocado on toast, kids picked from a well priced kids menu...ate everything...and then had kids size shakes. Friendly, fun place to take the kids. Good coffee. Will be back.

Went here early Sunday arvo and absolutely loved it. The soundtrack was phenomenal. Very groovy and fell into the cafe theme very well. The acoustics were decent and the music volume was perfect. Loud enough to feel the bass in your body yet quiet enough to have no issue chatting to people a couple seats down the table. I wasn't sure whether to eat my breakfast, get up and slow dance or, make love.<br/><br/>There was a lovely homely vibe there. Imagine the Christmas morning with family, food and, presents feeling. (in saying that, it is Christmas time and there were people were exchanging presents.)<br/><br/>I got the salmon cream cheese bagel and it was delicious. Tasted like commitment. Like returning to a home cooked meal and a loving kiss.<br/><br/>Also the customer service was good. It felt like they were emotionally invested in us so genuinely cared about our experience there. Our waiter sat at the table with us chatting about jewelry while taking our order. It was a familiar feeling.<br/><br/>The downsides were that the food and shakes took quite a while to reach our table though if you've got good company or, if can appreciate the small things in life, that isn't an issue. The menu was clipped to a piece of cardboard which seemed super tacky at first but the cardboard has meaning to the cafe which made it unique and admirable. Also, I think they could put more effort into the appearance of the roof, light wires and feature wall but, they're pretty minor things.<br/><br/>Overall, I am very pleased with my experience of Cereal Killa. I will go back and I definitely recommend 😉

Just came in for a milkshake and walked out after 25 minutes of waiting for the drink. Not happy when they cost $13 and you have to wait 25 minutes for it. The staff looked very under dressed all in fitness gear and track pants.

Just came for coffee on a rainy public holiday. They were one of the few places open! Coffee was good, though not overly hot. Service was quick and attentive as we were one of only two tables taken. I think they've recently changed hands and it's not as popular as it once was. One couple came for food and then left before ordering anything. Cereal killa isn't on my list of favourite cafes in the area, but it's not bad, and hey, they seem to be open on public holidays.

One of my fav places to eat in Auckland.  They have amazing coffee, incredible milkshakes the food is pretty damn good and the staff are always so lovely!

Another place that does crazy freak shakes and boy was it yummy! Had to wait ages for a table but that was alright. Small little location for the amount of people wanting to come inside. Once we got a seat I had the smashed avocado with feta & tomato with a Nutella freak shake. Would recommended to anyone who wants to try a freak shake but the location is a bit hard to find parking and also it's small so your most likely have to wait awhile to be seated. Otherwise everything tasted really good.

Honestly I'd like to give this place a better score. Food isn't actually too bad. Shakes are amazing. <br/><br/>Sadly the service is nothing short of hopeless. Slow and disorganised, even when it's not overly busy. Extraordinarily long waits with no apology. <br/><br/>40 minutes to get a long black.
Kate Roberts-Gray
This place is amazingly overrated! I have been here several times now, hoping that my experience will match that of the astonishing reviews I have read.  The first time I went it took over an hour to receive two simple breakfast dishes.  The second time I just got cabinet food (ginger bread).  They served it to me cold with no butter.  When I asked for it to be toasted they chucked it in the microwave.  The third (and final) time we went there was a big long hair in my avocado toast! When I raised this with the waiter he said "sorry about that" and offered no compensation and seemingly just shrugged it off.<br/>This place has turned in to a bit of an icon with their freak-shakes - but it does not stand up to the hype.

To be fair, I didn't get to try the food so I can't really rate it.  They apparently open until 3pm but after driving 1.5 hours to get the kids there at 1.50pm, they told us they weren't taking orders and that was that.  No sincere apology or acknowledgement. This is not unusual if you check their Facebook page. The shakes look amazing but they clearly haven't got their sh*t together and don't care enough about it. Save yourself the diabetes.
Michelle
The caramel waffle Killa Shake was incredible, so too was the smashed avocado. It took a wee while for the food to arrive but in good company it doesnt matter an awful lot. It can get busy so i would recommend reserving a table to avoid disappointment.
Alana Geach
The caramel popcorn shake is AMAZING!!! Definitely big enough and sweet enough to share. I also ordered a bacon and egg butty which was yummy but slightly overpriced for what it was. There wasn't any table service either, this may have been because they were very busy. Would definitely recommend!!

Overall disappointing. Took my partner here for his birthday and the shop itself really needs a bit of oomph to it (blank walls etc.)<br/>The staff were very lovely though! The cool milkshakes were worth what we paid, which was also good, although it could have been made clearer that the 'normal' shakes were also the crazy stacked up ones too as we would have preferred different flavours to the ones we got. <br/>The food was a bit of a let down however. The waitress told us there would be a 20min wait for the pulled pork bun which was fine, but it was well after 20minutes before we both got our meals. It got to the stage where i was ready to just pay for the drinks and his meal and then leave. When my dish (mince on toast) finally arrived it was pretty bland, even with all the 'moroccan' bells and whistles. <br/><br/>There was no apology for the wait either.

Took over an hour to get 1 killa shake. Over hyped, over-priced and yes it did look pretty but tasted weak compared to other nutella shakes I have had. Never likely to visit again now that the novelty factor is over

Went here with a group of friends on Sunday to try their well sort after shakes. The little cafe was crammed with people so we knew we were at the right place. <br/><br/>I ordered the caramel shake, my partner had the chocolate mint and my three friends all had the Nutella shake. They arrived out around 20mins later which we already knew as the waitress had told us. They were pretty tasty however mine had waffles on it which were really dry would have been better with some caramel dipping sauce for them. <br/><br/>It was a pretty good experience but because the place is so small everyone is jammed into each table sitting shoulder to shoulder with those around you. I probably wouldn't go back as it is a must try once rather than an eat all the time kind of place.

The service is absolutely poor. We have been waiting for 40mins for our food and drink. Other tables that came in after us were getting serve and food was delivered to them. None of the staff asked how we were but only looked at our table. I understand the day was busy but really 40mins and the food did not even come. So we walked out!!!!! I will never go back there again. A tip to the owner. Use a table number system!! It is that simple. I hope you improve or not you will be getting more crap reviews..<br/>

Had choc mint and strawberry diva killa shakes which were $12.50 each, it's good for the price if you are sharing between 2 people. The size would probably be a bit too big for one person but hey, it looks very appetizing and tastes mesmerizing. The choc mint has a great mint taste to it which I really like, the candy floss was IMMACULATE texture was on point and everything worked well together. Strawberry diva had a cookie on top which was awesome eaten with the shake which tasted fresh and nice. The only thing I would say for improvement were the seats where I was, the booth sitting on the wall was quite uncomfortable to sit in but that's about it. The shakes are to die for! I'd definitely go again next time to try the Nutella and Caramel shakes :)
Jenna
Came for the milkshakes and a light brunch on a Sunday around 11.30am. We were told it could be up to a 30 minute wait but we got a table within around 10 minutes which was great. <br/>One milkshake came out almost straight away after ordering, then the two food dishes came out together and had to ask for the second shake (I think they'd forgotten it).<br/>I thought the milkshakes were ok, nothing great. Some seemed to have much better toppings than others. The food was decent though. I had the salmon and cream cheese bagel with capers, red onion & lemon juice and the bagel was toasted to perfection. My friend had the breakfast bagel which he really enjoyed.

■ Killa Shakes<br/>■ Friendly service<br/><br/>■ Limited menu<br/>■ Small cafe<br/>■ Gets very busy on weekends<br/><br/>This is a laate review for Cereal Killa from a while ago and Im not a huge fan of rich stuff but a friend of mine had just finished Junk Free June and wanted to celebrate with these bad boys! First off, the location's in a busy part of Mt Eden and we actually got lost trying to find it but managed to get there in the end 😂 It was a paacked Saturday morning but luckily we got a table as soon as we arrived. Knowing about the Killa Shakes, we had a Killa workout that morning so we can treat ourselves after hahaha. I had the Caramel Waffle shake and the Tandoori Chicken Sandwich and my friend had the Peanut Butter along with the poached eggs with Salmon.<br/><br/>First Impression - the shakes look insane! We had heard some mixed reviews about them before but I actually thought it was pretty good, however towards the end they can get a little sickening.. Presentation is on point and whether you've got a sweet tooth or not, I reckon you gotta try them at some point! Consistency isn't like a thick shake which I liked but they do feel like a meal in itself. I would definitely order the sandwich again. It was spicy and crammed with cheese and overall made for a solid feed!<br/><br/>All the servers were incredibly nice and service was rly pleasant. One thing they could improve on though is they can maybe wear uniforms coz they looked very casual and so it was often hard to tell who was who since it was busy that day.<br/><br/>Other than that, the cafe itself is a really nice setting for brunch and we had a laugh as we saw everyone around us instagramming their shakes, I meeeeaaan who wouldn't??
M
Service and getting a table needs to be sorted out<br/><br/>You may have great drinks at $13 a pop but that doesn't excuse the messing about<br/><br/>Knock yourself out we won't be bothering coming back
Jeremy Foley
do not....I repeat do not go there. the service speed is abysmal. so slow. took over an hour for food to arrive. should have cancelled after 30 and gone elsewhere
Gaffarsplusone
This was our afternoon treat last week. Heard the name so much on Instagram so we decided to give it a try. Definitely worth the drive to Mt Eden. The photos don't do them justice on how delicious and amazing they looked when they arrived at the table. The drink itself isn't overly sweet which is great as it balances everything out well. It's not a thick shake so drinking it is very easy. It's reasonably priced for what you get and it is a treat to enjoy. The staff were friendly and despite being busy for the afternoon we were served quickly. Regardless of any review if you haven't tried one of these killa shakes, you definitely have too.
Evaline Shandil
Went here because of all the hype. Service was really good, the staff were really nice & helpful. <br/>The presentation is fabulous but the taste is average <br/>A cute date place though

I went to Cereal Killa Cafe with 3 friends and it took us just under an hour to be seated let alone get our food. There were singular parties of 2 sitting at tables of 4 which slowed everything down for everyone waiting in line. As I watched i saw that some people were having to share tables with other parties they did not know due to the lack of space. We got given menus whilst waiting which meant that we had chosen what we wanted to order and as we waited we saw that as soon as you were seated you got your order taken however this was not the case with us. After we were seated 2 groups after us got there order taken before ours was which I was not impressed about at all. To top this off they had run out of clean glasses for water so we had to wait for this as well. Then once we were given glasses we found that there was a dirty plastic shot type glass inside one of the glasses once we had poured the water in. After we finally placed our order we got our 2x chocolate Nutella shakes and 2x caramel shakes which was about a hour and a half after we had gotten there. The food was pretty good and looks amazing however the shakes were a little watery. They were not worth the wait in my opinion and the fact that we were crammed up at a table with other people we didn't know made it worse. They need to get more seating as well as more staff. You hardly saw the waitstaff and felt more like they were rushing your meal rather than trying to be friendly and make it a more pleasant dining experience. I may consider going back if I knew it was definitely not going to be busy but I wouldn't waste your time going otherwise, as there are other Cafes that do these shakes as well.
Neelakshi
Absolutely ridiculous service! Waited in line at the cafe for half an hour, after waiting in line the lady came and said they will be closing soon and cannot promise if we will get a spot to sit! Shit service! DO NOT GO to this place!!
Jane
Very slow service, staff wandering around aimlessly at times and forgot to take our order, waited almost an hour from arrival till food arrived.<br/>Once the food did arrive, tasted good. <br/>Would not go back though due to feeling neglected and long wait
Food Food Foodie Food
Dude behind the counter is crazy rude and condescending. Not just to us but to others trying to get a table. Don't know if he owns the place or just works there but he shouldn't be doing customer service. Just awful and dismissive.<br/>The food was average at best and took ages to get to us. My coffee was burnt. And the milkshake, which looks awesome and it's presentation is probably worth turning up for once, tastes just ok.<br/>Won't be back. Sorry.
Emily
Went to try one of the famous smoothies and unfortunately it was an utter disappointment from the beginning. The presentation was great however the smoothie itself was watery and terrible and the service was average. Would not ever come back.

After much popularity on social media, it was time to test it out for myself! We arrived at midday and the wait for a table was about 40minutes. Decided we would come back later in the afternoon. Later that day we got a table fairly promptly, but staff were very eager to approach every single person who walked in the door and say "we're booked out, wait for a table was 40min+" which isn't very inviting, also seemed like the priority instead of attending frustrated customers. We joined on the end of a 8person table, and after 2people left and a group of 7 people arrived. A staff member asked if we wouldn't mind moving to accommodate the larger group. we didn't mind and we moved. This was after a 20min wait, but we anticipated the wait so didn't mind. A further 10minutes later one of the two milkshakes arrived. After a further 20minutes my friend had finished her milkshake, mine hadn't arrived even after asking for it twice. The table we moved from received two milkshakes of the flavour I ordered. This was unacceptable as we had been waiting for a large amount of time. Finally mine arrived. The milkshakes looked amazing! But again that's where the amazing finished! The taste was no different to plain milk with a splash of flavouring, pretty disappointing. Lots of other customers who were seated just prior to us hadn't even received their order yet. When we went up to pay we were told it was our fault that the order was mixed up because "you girls moved tables without even telling us" the accusing tone was terrible, we quickly informed him that we were in fact asked by his staff member and didn't move on our own accord. In turn we paid for 1 instead of 2. Overall the service was crap and the milkshake was not all it was cracked up to be. Some serious improvement to the organisation of the cafe, orders, seating system is needed.
Michelle
Killa shakes !! <br/>Yep totally recommend and i would definitely go back here all the time just for them :) <br/>And I recommend it to anyone who is wanting something like these in Auckland

Arrived here with friend just after 10am on a weekday. Relatively quiet.<br/><br/>Great atmosphere and right choice of music. <br/><br/>Ordered acai bowl, salmon bagel plus 2 killa shakes! Shakes were received half an hour later after ordering and food arrived 10mins after shakes were just about finished.<br/><br/>Shakes are exactly what they are: killaz! the name is perfect. Sweet stuff were stacked along with cream on the top which went incredibly well with the shake itself, which wasn't sweet so there was a nice balance. <br/>I would definitely come again when around the area for the acai bowl however the length of time I would have to wait is of concern. We joked that perhaps they had to go to countdown next door to get the ingredients!<br/><br/>Friend who ordered salmon bagel enjoyed it a lot however price wise it could go down for what it's worth.<br/><br/>Acai bowl: 5/5<br/>Salmon bagel: 4/5<br/>Shakes: 4.5/10<br/>Time: 1/5<br/>Money-food worth: 3/5<br/>Service: 4/5<br/>Return: 2.5/5 (for shakes only)<br/><br/>Overall enjoyment: 4/5<br/>Good luck team. From my knowledge I don't know of anywhere in CBD that does this stuff. You would attract many uni students. Just a thought. <br/><br/>

Finally had a chance to visit the cafe, came in the afternoon around 1pm, wasn't packed out and we were able to get a table. <br/><br/>I ordered the chocolate shake and the smashed avocado and feta on sourdough with a side of smoked salmon. <br/><br/>The shake was very aesthetic and it was tasty but I didn't finish it. The food was average, the sourdough was very hard. <br/><br/>I rated the cafe a 3 as I've had better cafe food at many other cafes. I was disappointed with the menu as there isn't very much to offer, this place is probably only good for the shakes. However on the menu we looked at there were only 2 versions of shakes. Kind of upset because I saw many different shakes on Instagram but this wasn't available on the paper menu that we looked at. Maybe it was advertised somewhere else? Idk. <br/><br/>Their shakes are beautiful to look at so if you want that good insta pic then do visit. For me however, I don't think I will be coming back in a hurry anytime soon!
Kellyanne Hill
Won't be going back. The Milkshakes were as amazing as advertised/seen. But the service was crap and the food took ages, then it wasn't even that flash. All the hype for nothing.

One of the worst cafe experiences I have had in Auckland lately. When we entered the cafe it was pretty quiet and we walked up to the till to grab menus we knew pretty quickly what we wanted so my friend ordered at the till whilst I went and chose a table. 40 minutes later our basic smoothies arrived, we then asked how long our food was away. The waitress went away to the kitchen to check then came back and asked us what we had ordered, after we told her she then went away for 5 mins and came back to tell us they were making it now. She also added that there was some confusion as people had moved tables and we had ordered at the till. (When we arrived there were only 2 other tables occupied and none of us had moved, if you don't want people to order at the till then you need to have staff on the floor or tell people to go take a seat and someone will be with them shortly) After a total 1hour 10mins wait time our avocado on toast came out burnt and boring, mentioned the burnt toast to the waitress who just shrugged her shoulders and quietly said sorry. Overall a very disappointing experience. I was planning to go back and try one of their shakes one day but now I know I'll be giving it a miss
Michelle Chua
Only tried the Nutella smoothie as its famous for its smoothie. Would definitely go back for more to try other smoothies. But it would definitely be better if staffs are more aware of customers sitting at a table that's unclean. Don't get me wrong, loving the smoothie and will go back for more :))
Suprema
EXCELLENT SERVICE! Diffenately would go back again to try new flavours that they'd bring out but this place is bangin! The shakes were so worth the price, and heavy and sweet and so creative and looked good to the eyes as well! Great place to catch up with mates over a killa shake :) the service was really amazing🙌🏽
Jaline Antonio
Decided to try this place as the shakes looked amazing on photos. What was so dissapointing was the wait. It literally took almost an hour to get two shakes. The waitress was very apologetic but it is not good enaugh to be waiting for something that tasted very avarage. The nutella shake was okay...i could taste the chocolate but it was very milky and so was the other shake we had. Will not be coming back.

Was recently visiting family in Auckland and a cousin of mine recommended cereal killa cafe to me when I was looking for somewhere to have an early afternoon bite to eat, and I'm so glad they did. I found the place to be very clean, the staff very friendly and service was very efficient even though the place was packed. I had the pork belly bun which was absolutely gorgeous and very filling, but being the glutton that I am I also treated myself to one of their killa shakes which was phenomenal 👍 I visited twice during my time in Auckland and cannot recommend this place enough, oh and their coffee is superb. Wouldn't hesitate in coming here again next time I'm over

"Wow!" What can I say. I had a truly fantastic experience at Cereal Killa on the weekend. We must have arrived at the worst possible time, the cafe was a hive of activity. We were greeted by a very friendly female member of staff, who told us there was a short wait for a table, we found the "service" to be, attentive, polite and verbal ! We ordered the peanut butter killa shake and the chocolate Nutella killa shake, both were spot on, and worth the drive from pukekohe. Food wise we ordered the pork belly bun, which we shared, the pork was cooked perfectly and slightly crispy. We waited around 45 mins for our food, but we were told verbally upon arrival that there was an extended wait during busier/peak times ! I would thoroughly recommend this little gem to anyone. You may have to wait a bit longer for your shakes but they truly were a masterpiece 😍  Keep up the good work guys !
Eden Wood
Don't get me wrong the killa shakes look bloody amazing but that's as far as it goes! They were very thin and milky with a small clump of ice cream at the bottom. The peanut butter one had a really nice coating around the rim of peanut butter and nuts but the actual shake itself didn't taste like peanut butter at all. We didn't order food but had a look at the dishes being served to other tables and they certainly didn't look impressive. And the service was very mediocre!! We had a waiter and a waitress come and give us someone else's food on two different occasions. Not impressed!

Stopped for a great lunch over Easter. Really tidy spot, clean and fun set up. Service friendly, attentive and fast. Had a healthy lunch bowl which was really tasty and balanced out my amazing Easter special milk shake. Loved it. Great coffee and I will be back!!

Seriously loving what this place has done! <br/>They have taken global trends and brought them right back to the heart of our wee country so we can experience the excitement of the Monster Shakes and they do a damn good job of it. <br/>The food is classic, yet delicious and exceeded my expectations. <br/>I will definitely return (on an empty stomach)
Monique Porteous
A must try! I couldn't help but want to go to this little cafe once I saw they were pumping out the monster shake trend. Two visits within three days, you could say I'm a fan 😏💕. The actual cafe itself is small so be prepared to make new friends if you dine in. The service is humble, refreshing and kind - like a traditional cafe. If you get the chance to meet the owner, he's great for a good yarn! Ok as much as it pains me to say, THE SHAKES ARE THE BEST THING EVERRRR. I wish it weren't true but these calorie dense drinks are my new addiction 😍. To finish it off, the food is classic but darn tasty. Definitely come on an empty stomach and with a bit of spare time, these shakes take a little longer than your average to make 🍼🍪

This one is a tricky one! We called and booked a table for saturday 12.15pm; arrived there early around 12.05 and we were seated quickly the place was full and many people arrived with us. The seating arrangement was cosy (maybe too much so); we were given menus straight away and they took our coffee order which arrived in about 10 minutes- the waiter came with the coffee and took them to two neighbouring tables before i put my hand up and said these are ours! i ordered a trim flat white which i took one sip from and almost threw up: it was VERY strong. My partners latte was the same. We asked about a particular plate and the owner/manager came and chatted to us - he was friendly and helpful and suggested options. <br/>We ordered the salmon bagel with cream cheese and avocado as well as smashed avocado on toast plus haloumi. <br/>And the wait began... The ladies who sat next to us said "we have been waiting for half an hour"- and they were getting annoyed. I saw a few people leave after a frustratrating wait. Anyway... Our food arrived 40 minutes later and i start to dig in only to find my toasted bagel so hard and not even warm- i went up to the counter and said that after 40 minutes i would expect it to be at least warm.. The manager quickly apologized and brought me a freshly made bagel etc. the flavour of both our meals was spot on- very satisfying! The manager came and checked on us. <br/>When i went to pay the manager asked if i had a drink and i said that i didnt drink my coffee as it was too strong so he didnt charge me for it. I suggested to him that they get table numbers as I saw many orders taken around tables before they found the people who actually ordered those meals. <br/><br/>I would surely go there again- but would be prepared to wait longer! I would have been happier if they told us the wait is that long before we sat down as it is unusual for someone to wait that long for bagels. <br/><br/>I would have given them 4.5 if it hadnt been for the long wait. <br/><br/>Coffee: 0/5<br/>Salmon bagel: 5/5<br/>Smashed avocado 5/5<br/>Timeliness 1/5<br/>Organisation 1/5<br/>Service recovery 5/5

I came here for brunch with my mother. We ordered two iced coffees and a bagel each. The iced coffees arrived about 10 minutes after ordering them. However, we waited over 50 minutes for our food and it had still not arrived. Several other customers were also asking where their food was. After 50 minutes of waiting we decided to pay for our coffees and leave, as we were already running late for where we had to be next. I mentioned to who I assume was the manager (old blonde british man) that a wait time of over 50 minutes for two bagels is unreasonable. He condescendingly said that it was normal to wait that long at most cafes and that it was not McDonalds. I found this comment rude and unprofessional. I go to a lot of cafes that are busier and have always received my food promptly (or if there was going to be a longer than usual wait time the waiter lets the customer know at the time of ordering so they can decide whether they want to wait in light of other commitments they may have). Avoid this cafe if you are after efficient friendly service.
Wafflelover
we've waited for 30 minutes just to get our breakfast. Egg on toast is just that, nothing really special. Waffle is too hard. Nutella shake is good but again we have to wait that long before indulging. by the way we were the only one who were seated waiting for our orders. Maybe a perfect place for cofee to go but not for dinning in.
Barista Champ
Positive vibes and positive people! Great service which makes the coffee taste even better! Honestly, the coffee and the food is second to none.

Love the coffee the staff are great. They used to have amazing french toast but they have changed their menu. Great location lots of parking.
Lisa Zhang
Great little place for coffee and brunch. They use to have amazing French toast, it's a shame they don't anymore. But they make delicious peanut butter or chocolate milkshakes now! That's a must try!
Ruiling Liu
The food was ok , just the waiting time is to long . We arrive at 9:35 and ordered , got food at 10:15 and the day was not too busy, during the time we are waiting there was only two dishes out from kitchen. We are the third one. It's not normal for the waffle.
UltimateOmNoms
On the menu, there were two Killa shakes but the word of mouth special was a toffee caramel popcorn shake with waffle. At $12.50 and three sticks of waffles, it was a meal in itself. I loooved the peanut butter mousse smeared around the sides, I wish there was more of it but understandably, it was a caramel shake – not the PB one. I do wonder whether it was meant to be there on purpose or if the jar was swapped for a PB one.
Yoda
We used to love this place but a change among the owners plus a reduced number of items on the menu & patchy service has us avoiding it. Nice people but the food is no longer up to it's previous standard.<br/><br/>It's a shame as they had all the elements right for a great little cafe. Very ordinary now.
Realistic Reviews
Cereal Killa cafe is an obscurely located cafe, tucked away in a line of shops in Dominion road. It's interior is simple and clean. It has reviews complementing service and food; we experienced differently.<br/><br/>Service: 8/10<br/>- Greeted on arrival, seated with menus. Friendly waitress, order taken promptly. <br/>Told that coffees are single shot, unusual. <br/><br/>Food: 5/10<br/>- Completely confused as to others reviews. Menu was tiny (approx 6 options), lacked diversity. Must be seasonal or recently updated; not remotely the menu posted online, or containing items others have purchased. What was available was overpriced in our opinion. Perplexed.<br/><br/>Coffee: 5/10<br/>- Coffee served is Eightthirty. Bitter/sour. <br/>Single shot standard. As with prior reviews, we are not fans of Eightthirty, so our judgement is admittedly bias. <br/><br/>Final comment: 18/30<br/>- We are confused as to how our experience differed so significantly from others. Such a highly rated cafe with such a poor experience. Are we missing something? <br/>

A nice and tidy little place who serve decent breakfast dishes and coffees.<br/><br/>The service is extremely fast and the staff members a friendly too.<br/><br/>Food was not extraordinary but nothing concerning either. Would be nice to have more options on the menu.<br/><br/>Will I come back here - ummm, maybe yes!
Shannon T
I was pretty happy with everything here. The service was good, food was delish and the caf itself is pretty hipster with a sleek interior. The range of food isn't great, it's definitely more for breakfast or brunch but it's a damn solid breakfast or brunch!
Annie Jean
Taste buds went crazy over my pea and feta tartine! Finally something light, tasty, healthy and reasonably priced at $12. Pea and feta on toast, bizarre combination you'd think.... but it works. Peas are awesome for us veggos, packed with protein so I thank them for thinking more creatively. I'm harsh on cafes when it comes to my green tea but I added a star with these guys... harney and sons green tea served in a clean pot! Nice service too. I don't usually throw out a 5 star, but they deserved it... I'll go back :)
Penelope Chua
I like their pancakes, their omelette and their big'un. Their French toast was awesome too if the syrup was served on the side. We tried their coffee several times but we didn't like it so we pretty much just go with their food. The location is pretty convenient.
Richard
Ordered the pancakes but unfortunately we're not worth the money, they were much more like thin crepes and only three in quantity, bacon was nice but came in one small strip and only half a banana, wouldn't order again.
Annie Bananie
The price and portion was good and fair however many elements of the meals were a let down. The tomatoes look dried and have been standing out too long, the haloumi was thick and undercooked and the potatoes tasted quite nitrogenous. Overall the food tasted fine but it wasn't fantastic due to little composition problems. Also misleading "pancake" was actually crepe. With carton bought custard taste
Joanne Chiang
This place is small but cosy. I ordered a omelette and my partner egg benny. It took a while to serve but they were both delicious. The price and the serving is very reasonable. We also got an orange and carrot juice which was amazing! <br/><br/>Will Definitely come back again!
Jerome Britt
Coffee used to be good , has really gone down hill over the last few months, they seem to change their barista as often as they add more of those silly shakes. Average service with a strange atmosphere, would not recommend unless very desperate for a coffee.
Rebecca MacDonald
I have been here once before but a couple of years ago so was keen to check it out again. The menu was good with options for everyone. I went for a sweet option, pancakes, berries, bacon and marscapone! Delicious, the coffee was good with cute heart designs!

I came here for brunch after my friend said she loved it. <br/><br/>I ordered a flat white which was strong and had little foam and that's perfect!<br/><br/>I had the veggie big-un. The portions of the food were generous but I felt like the potatoes didn't match the other food. And there was also bread and potato which was odd.

My fast was defiantly broken with this delicious piece of work. The coffee was brewed to perfection, so good I finished it way too quickly and had to get a second cup when my food arrived. The wait was a little long for food, but totally worth it and was not too bad spent chatting away and catching up with my friend. WOULD RECOMMEND !

Nice little cafe on Dominion Road. They had a table for us straight away which was good. Water and menus straight away, good service. The banana Nutella smoothie was delicious, as was the pancakes!!

Originally went here because the cafe we wanted to go to is closed on mondays. We were a bit worried about them having no space, as it's not the biggest establishment, but there were a few empty tables. <br/><br/>I ordered the Big Un and two of my friends ordered the Veggie Big Un and the other ordering the pancakes. Both the vege big un and the normal big un were very good and worth the money, the plate filled! Unfortunately the waiter didn't ask for my preference in egg style (and I forgot too oops) but I was given poached eggs, which weren't the nicest Ive had. Not sure about how they were made because they had an odd vinegary after taste which I didnt find pleasant. <br/>My friends pancakes looked very good...but resembled crepes more. Everyone found their meals to be very good. <br/><br/>The reason I rated this place so high, is the lengths the waiters go to, to make sure everything is good. They were very attentive and friendly, without being too pushy. <br/><br/>Really pleased by my experience

I've never written a review on a cafe but after going to Cereal Killa this morning I 100% had to write one! Came in around 11.30, so it wasn't too busy which was nice. Coffees were really good, and the food was incredible. My partner order poached eggs on toast, simple but done perfectly. I couldn't decide between sweet and savoury so ended up getting kids eggs and a half portion of the coconut porridge. The half portion of the porridge was still so filling and insanely tasty. The staff were so friendly and it was super well priced. Definitely coming back!

I have been coming here for years but hadn't been in a long time so I checked it out to see if it was still as great. <br/><br/>We ordered the pancakes and the omelette, I think both new items to the menu (Very sad to see the mince had gone). They were both brilliant. My omelette was well seasoned with great flavours in every bite. The pancakes had a caramelised crumb which was lovely.<br/><br/>The coffee was hot and very strong. The service was easy and quick. The atmosphere is the same, fresh, relaxed, lots of young families and couples having a good chat.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS: I last came here two years ago so I was curious to see how things were - fortunately the cafe is still as bright and breezy as I remember it! I love the retro decor, and vintage lady portrait on the wall. Breakfast never seemed so swell. <br/><br/>FOOD: I had the coconut porridge which was creamy and full of flavour. It was topped with rhubarb and pear, both tasted delicious. I liked how it was topped with a sprig of mint too. <br/><br/>COFFEE: Perfection. Nice smooth blend with not too much foam - just how I like it. <br/><br/>SERVICE: I really like how the staff are quick to greet and seat you on arrival. The same guy served me a few years back and it was to see him still sporting the same friendly manner. <br/><br/>With cool indie/chill out tunes in the background, this cafe is a great place to relax and enjoy your breakfast.

Came here for breakfast this morning at around 11 and it was fairly packed! Had to sit on the big square communal table but it wasn't so bad. :-) Decor is modernly minimalistic. Quite comfortable despite being on stools. <br/><br/>I had the big'un- the big breakfast and he had the omelette. I was expecting great things from the food but it just didn't have a wow factor to it at all. Good fresh ingredients though. Some elements on the dish were waaay to salty and some under seasoned. Food took a while to come out also- but the waitress was apologetic and kept us updated! We didn't mind too much as the coffees were perfect. <br/><br/>All in all a decent place to dine.<br/>

Cute little cafe with its own spin on traditional cafe options. Got the coconut porridge which I normally don't go for but the combination of caramel, rhubarb, and pear intrigued me - definitely didn't regret my choice, was absolutely delish. Went during peak hour about 1pm on a Sunday and it was pretty packed. We were warned about a half hour wait on food after we placed our order which was nice to to get a warning on but after about 40 mins we were starting to get fidgety. Good thing we orders smoothies as well, which came out pretty quickly and temporarily distracted us from the wait. <br/><br/>Will definitely be back!

Came for brunch with a friend (we are both chefs, head and sous) so naturally we are critical about everywhere we eat. Coffee was great. The barista knows what she's doing that's for sure. We ordered the French toast and I had the pancakes. Both well presented, but both missing mascarpone! (French toast was advertised with maple mascarpone and pancakes with vanilla mascarpone.) Instead we got a small quenelle of whipped cream ..to our disappointment. Cheeky. pancakes were also crepes as opposed to a 'cake' but still delicious nonetheless. With such sweet meals, mascarpone to cut through was definitely missed. Vibe was also a bit weird, Spotify ads in amongst the playlist were a recurring thing that my friend and I had a chuckle about. But all in all, good value for money and will probably be back for the coffee and to try other items on the menu. 3.5/5

After hearing so many good things about this cafe, we finally decided to venture out here to try it for ourselves! <br/><br/>I ordered the eggs benedict with bacon and rosti and it was very good! after reading reviews and hearing about how oily the rosti was meant to be, I was pleasantly surprised! the potato rosti was crispy and the oil wasn't noticeable at all. the bacon was also very criiiiiispy! perfect for crispy bacon lovers. i loved getting avo in the eggs benedict, this is the first eggs benny I've had with avocado! and the fact that I could customize how much hollandaise I wanted with each bite of my meal. the eggs were poached to perfection! <br/><br/>I was looking forward to the coffee the most after hearing how good the coffee was here! I ordered my coffee within two minutes of sitting down. The coffee was so good we ordered another one to go after our meal! hahaha. A lot better than most coffees I've tried in my time, and being a uni student, I have tried plenty! <br/><br/>V ordered the free range eggs on toast with a side of breakfast sausages. He was very satisfied afterwards. <br/><br/>Overall service was good. We didn't have to wait for seats which is an extra bonus! I thought this place would be a lot busier around 11am but we got seats straight away! <br/><br/>I'll definitely be back for coffee! <br/>

When I am treating my good friends or family out for breakfast or brunch, I like to come here. Theres always something for everyone and they are always impressed with this place.<br/><br/>So far, I've tried (accumulatively), pancakes, eggs benedict, mexican breakfast and energy salad.<br/><br/>So far my favs got to be the eggs bene.<br/><br/>I also recommend the nutella banana smoothie (can be a kid all over again).<br/><br/>4 Yums

AMBIANCE: Warm and homely. Gentle lighting and not too many seats (keeps it cosy)<br/>SERVICE: Quick and friendly, meal arrived in 10m 53s. Always topped up with water and very informative about the meal.<br/>COFFEE: not ordered<br/>FOOD: Fresh and quality ingredients. Everything was perfectly cooked and seasoned (for the big'un). The omelette was a bit bland and lacked flavour. Could have done with a more rich chutney. <br/>PRICE: Very reasonable for what you get and where you are.<br/><br/>OVERALL: A good place to stop in on the way to work with the paper. Although if you're in a hurry, you might end up late.

Wow. Where to start. My friend Rhiannon Baldock invited me out to try Cereal Killer. I had heard good things so I was excited to try it for myself. <br/>Having a baby in a cafe is not an easy feat. It takes enough room in the cafe itself and chair circumference to sit the seat upon. We quickly found a table and sat down. <br/><br/>I first ordered a soy hot chocolate which was your standard chocolate powder hot chocolate. <br/>I could smell the scent of bacon throughout our meal and it was divine! <br/><br/>They had an extensive menu with haloumi which is always a positive and it was all reasonably priced for a cafe in the area. For my meal I had the Vege big'un. It was a really generous option size with haloumi, avocado, mushrooms, tomatoes, 3 pieces of toast and a rosti minus the egg. I was a little disappointed by the meal. It was slightly over salted and lacked interest.<br/>I also thought that 3 pieces of toast and a rosti was too heavy in carbs for a meal. <br/><br/>Then we had 2 afghans and tea. The Afghan was delicious and the tea was nice and hot. Not too strong! <br/><br/>The service was interesting. The waitress we had was bubbly and full of energy which was great for the morning but we overheard her forgetting orders multiple times and spilling coffee after dancing around the cafe. <br/><br/>I wasnt greatly fond of this cafe but that's not to say I wouldn't return.

I had no idea what to expect from Cereal Killa - I'd heard some good words about it, with not a lot of detail so I was keen to try it for myself! Jordanne Leigh and I popped along on a Thursday morning around ten, and it wasn't a struggle whatsoever to find a table which is a plus for me!.<br/><br/>The menu had a generous amount of options, all of which differed from the usual big breakfast and pancakes you find in a lot of everyday places. I went for the Mexican breakfast salad with a side of haloumi (because, why not!). Along with that I had a cheeky banana Nutella smoothie; the flavour of the smoothie was delicious, I just wished it had been colder! I think a little ice wouldn't of hurt to help thicken the smoothie as well - I'd be more inclined to call it a milkshake. <br/><br/>The food came fairly promptly, and I was very excited to dig in when our dishes arrived. The black bean mixture that acted as the base of the salad was really tasty, with hits of sweetness from what I think was peaches and roasted tomatoes. Above that sat a chunky avocado salsa that had classic Mexican flavours, but something was a little off.. Maybe a bad avo? The eggs were the perfect addition, and I loved the tortillas, but I wish there were more! One larger whole tortilla or two small whole ones would of been ideal for wrapping up all the components at once <br/><br/>We finished off with an English breakfast tea and an Afghan made in house, the texture of the biscuit was amazing, so so buttery! <br/> <br/>I don't know how I would rate the service, the girl who served us was lovely, but a little all over the place (there may have been some random dancing within the cafe and overhead order forgetfulness a few times). She was really nice though, but I think sharpening up the service would of made a big difference. <br/><br/>I may be back if I find myself looking for a bite to eat on Dominion road, but it hasn't stolen my heart as of yet.

LOVE LOVE LOVE! Lovin' Cereal Killa since they first opened! I love popping in whenever I visit my mum at home! Coffees are SUPREME! (mind the pun) and their cabinet food is always on point! I loved chatting to the owner and often the Korean barista! I wish they had longer opening hours so I can catch a coffee when I finish work but they always close early? My loss I guess...

Love this place the coffee is amazing, the vege breakfast is even better if only I lived closer I would be here every Sunday brunch! Cute little spot to with all the vintage breakfasts on the wall
Mt Eden
They do a fantastic big breakfast and great coffee. New bench seats are very uncomfortable ! Staff and service are wonderful

Overall the food was good but there were some mixed reviews around the table. I had the crepes with maple syrup, bacon, banana and blueberries and while I enjoyed my meal, it could have had more to do with the fact that it was midday before I was

Live just around the corner from this little cafe, and when ever I'm craving a good coffee and something sweet, well I'm here! Their berry custard muffins are to die for!

I had heard a lot about this place from a couple of my friends so when I walked into the cafe I was expecting great things and I have to say I wasn't disappointed. The coffee was just out of this world ! I was pleasantly surprised at the meal portions, great for the price!<br/>

Thankyou for fixing my hangover. Coffee and delightful breakfast foods did the job. Poached eggs a little over-done though! Everything else was good, and I ran into someone I hadn't seen in a long time, so the whole experience was very positive. <br/>Whenever I have eggs benedict, I can't help but think of Pope puns...

On the door it said something with Award Best Barista, so I wanted to give it a try. I love a coffee and a proper cappuccino is always welcome. However, I was shocked by the price for a small one! The coffee wasn't very spectaculair or much different than most other places and considering the price, I won't go back.

Went here on a Sunday for brunch as our regular was only doing coffees and cabinet food due to the power shut down. Looking at the crowd at the door I thought it would be a great place but never judge a book by its cover. After sitting at a really sticky table for 15 mins I decided to wipe the table on my own. None of the wait staff that walked by offered to clean the table. Followed by another 5 mins after which someone showed up to ask if we had received the menus. Once we received the menus my friend decided on eggs Benedict with bacon & I asked for the savory mince & beans with potato Rosti. I asked for the dish without beans. After waiting for another 15 mins another wait staff came up and said the savory mince cannot be made without the beans. After that I said I would have the French toast. Another 20 mins and our meals appeared and I am sorry but it looked like a kid had banana, blueberries & custard and threw up on my plate of dried soggy bread. The meal was awful & I left almost all of it on the plate. Not going to go back here as there are cheaper places that make better meals

Food was great. I had 'The Big'un' - the portion size was good, could possibly have done with a bit more but I was really hungry. Service was fast considering it was really busy.
Mina
Really impressed with this place!<br/>Went here for breakfast on a very busy Saturday morning but still got lovely warm service. Our coffees were excellent!<br/>Meals were a really generous size and very well cooked - meals are definitely great value!<br/>Overall really liked this place despite its slightly crowded atmosphere, and will definitely be back!

This place has delicious, consistent food and the coffee is always tasty. I have to say however I cannot bear to be in there more than 5 minutes to grab my coffee. Certain staff members tend to give off a dismissive vibe. "Hi, how are you?" would go a long way! Seems other people have had a great experience though, perhaps I am asking too much!
Julie
We've been to Cereal Killa several times for lunch with a large group and service has been fantastic every time. The owner is very friendly and helpful with our booking and as we had pre-ordered, everything came out quickly.<br/><br/>During our last visit we ordered a mix of pork belly, mince on rosti, chicken burgers, spanish eggs, eggs on toast. My order was the pork belly and it was delicious, well presented and great value! I have also tried Cereal Killa's boeuf bourguignon (which is not on their current menu) and would definitely go back if they brought it back to their regular menu.
Lucia Florence
Cereal Killa is a fantastic cafe. The decor is trendy, the food really yummy, and the service warm and friendly. The coffee is delicious too! Definitely one of the best cafes on the long Dominion Road stretch and worth a return visit.

Had brunch there recently<br/>Excellent mince on potato rosti with poached egg<br/>Best I have had<br/>Excellent service and set up<br/>Congrats<br/>We will be going back no question<br/>A huge addition to the Mt Eden options
Nicky
Coffee and smoothies were really good! Staff were very friendly and great service.<br/><br/>We ordered pancakes - very disappointing, they were crepes, very thin and over done. If they had specified crepes then that would've been ok, but when you think you're getting pancakes it is irritating to get something different. <br/><br/>Creamy herbed mushrooms were good<br/><br/>Avocado eggs benedict rated 5/10 by my friend who ordered them.<br/><br/>Overall, would return for the smoothies and coffee but most disappointed with my pancakes!
David Boshier
Good vibe with great coffee in a bright airy environment.<br/><br/>The downside is the tables for two are rather small and it is like eating on plane. But the wide range of fresh tasty food makes up for it. The mince on rosit was my pick of the day.<br/><br/>If coffee is not your morning wake-up they have freshly make juices available.<br/><br/>Well worth a stop.

Where have I been! - This place is amazing!<br/><br/>Food: Beautifully Presented (Egg Benedict w/salmon)<br/>Taste: Love it. <br/>Coffee: Good (cuppa-chino)<br/><br/>Staff: Casual and Very Friendly.<br/>Ambiance: Fun colours-frisky interior with modern twist. <br/>'Babies are welcome'<br/>Good for small groups only...6 max.<br/><br/>Price: Reasonable.<br/><br/>Overall&gt; Will definitely recommend this place to others! <br/>Well done you guys.

Love this little place, the food is always amazing as is the coffee. Super friendly staff who make it all that much nicer to visit. Definitely the best place in mt Eden for brekky or lunch. Easy to get parking.

Updated review: February 2017<br/>Went back to this cafe recently and the cafe look nice and customer service is still good, but food wasn't as good as I remembered. Both egg on toast and smash avocado that we ordered were bland. The toast for egg on toast was a bit burnt. In addition, we waited a long time for our meal to come. The Killashake looks awesome.<br/><br/>Customer Service: 7/10<br/><br/>Food: 5/10 <br/><br/>Atmosphere: 8/10 <br/><br/>--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------<br/>Review 2012: 4/5<br/> Tried this place with deal voucher. The Place is neat and tidy. The coffee was great and Egg benedict I had was pretty good too. Would surely recommend this place to others and will be back for more.

Cool casual place for a meal. Staff a bit odd, need to sort that out I think, almost too casual. Food was pretty good though. Wouldn't rush back any time soon. Great coffee!

Excellent place to stumble upon. Coffee is delicious, cool but not pretentious decor, warm and inviting. A welcome addition to my neighbourhood.

Went to Cereal Killa last Sunday for lunch. Everything was excellent - the host, the coffee and the smoked fish pie.<br/><br/>The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly and the coffee strong, but not bitter.<br/><br/>Highly recommend to everyone.

Went there for brunch today as have heard very good things about this cafe. I had the eggs bene, YUM - fresh, free range and very prompt service. My partner had the english breakfast and all elements were Delicious! Drinks I had a berry/banana smoothie - all real ingredients, none of the fake syrup, partner had a coffee which was the best one he had ever had. Best cafe I have been to in Auckland for a very long time, will be back very soon

Wow - what a find!!! This place has it all. Finally - proper coffee that tastes amazing and fabulous food too. The menu is a refreshing change from the usual bollocks and the service was warm and friendly. I'll definitely be stalking the Cereal Killa!!

After having heard so many good things about Cereal Killa, I finally got a chance this past weekend to see for myself if they were worth talking about. In short: they are.<br/><br/>By the time the boyfriend and I had rolled out of bed and managed to look respectable, it was 2pm. This worked very well in our favour as it meant we had missed the breakfast, brunch, and lunch rush and had several tables from which to choose. We picked one in the sun near the door and within 10 seconds of sitting down, our coffees had already been ordered... now that's my kind of service!<br/><br/>I ordered scrambled eggs on toast with a side of bacon and a side of rosti, and the boyfriend went for the big'un. Although my eggs seemed a little wet and the rosti a little greasy, the food was still very tasty. After dumping his tomato on my plate, the boy seemed pretty happy with his choice and cleaned it up promptly. Bonus points from him for the smaller slices of mushroom.<br/><br/>The decor was pretty sparse and the location is a little odd but with great service, good food and excellent coffee, Cereal Killa might just be a new favourite.

Was craving for some pancakes and delish pancakes I got! So based on that alone, this place gets a four :)

We treated ourselves to brunch at Cereal Killa on Saturday morning. In a funny place on Dominion Road which previously felt like a wasteland, but now with Meredith across the road and Nosh close by, this could easily be a new foodie haven. <br/><br/>The place was packed but we were happy with a table for two out front. We had heard good things, but not about which dishes to order so we both ordered what we usually order for brunch. We ordered 2 coffees, The Big’un and the Spanish Eggs.<br/><br/>The service is friendly and efficient and the coffee is excellent. I enjoyed my baked spanish eggs, especially the dish it was served in. There wasn’t much chorizo, instead it seemed to be replaced with ham. The sage and parmesan crust was delicious. While I love runny egg yolks, the whites of the eggs were uncooked. This dish needed a little longer in the oven to be perfect.<br/><br/>The boy enjoyed his big breakfast, especially the sauce. The rosti was more like a potato fritter seemed a bit out oily but an interesting substitute for a hash brown. Toast here comes with butter wrapped in a small piece of paper. A sweet touch but the butter was cold and hard which made spreading difficult. I would prefer a tiny dish of room temp butter for happy spreading (and no extra rubbish).<br/><br/>We left feeling very full. The food was satisfactory, the coffee was excellent. We might be back for lunch.

Child friendly, food ok
The Incredible Edible
This is one of our favourite brunch bumpin spots. Upon resting our lazy Sunday bums I ordered the best Booster juice - beetroot, apple, carrot, ginger. It is a great way to start off the morning as it is not only super healthy but tastes fantastic too. <br/><br/>Check out the full review and photos on: http://theincredibleediblelifeofstephandmike.blogspot.co.nz/2014/05/cereal-killa-no-milk-required.html

I'm always a sucker for a restaurant/cafe with a pun in the title, and Cereal Killa did not disappoint<br/><br/>Most of their offerings involve classic breakfast options with a bit of a twist, which is sure to please the brunch fans amoungst us. Options such as the french toast with poached nectarines, and coconut passion fruit custard, the Baked Spanish eggs with chorizo, homemade baked beans & a sage crumb crust and my personal favourite - The Veggie Big’un – rosti, haloumi, avo, egg, mushroom, tomato and spinach toast are sure to satisfy. <br/><br/>Cereal Killa is resonably priced and has great modern decor, but be sure to get in early on the weekend as this place gets packed pretty quickly.

Cereal Killa doesn’t look like much from the outside, but I kept hearing great things. First there were some alluring looking ‘grams and then it won a gong for best in suburb by Metro. Best in suburb eh? Being strongly dedicated to the brunch game I had to try it out for myself and headed along last weekend.<br/><br/>I ordered Cereal Killa’s take on the big breakfast while Adam went for the chicken burger. My meal was delicious, made even more so by the addition of lashings of Rocket Fuel. Bacon, chorizo sausages, mushroom, spinach, tomato, eggs, ciabatta and rosti. It would almost have been a perfect meal but for the rosti. This was deep fried and a bit on the potato fritter side. Aka delicious but also sickening. I’m more of a grated potato hashbrown girl myself. <br/><br/>Adam’s chicken burger was similarly delectable but with one crucial flaw – a bun that fell apart and didn’t really taste that great. The fillings supposedly were good enough for that to slide though. He’s been talking about that breakfast ever since! (Although that may be for the iced coffee which was insanely good.)<br/><br/>So, best in suburb? Perhaps. It was definitely mostly very tasty. But best? Metro, I think you’ve set me a challenge here.<br/><br/>For more thoughts on food and eating delicious things, head over to my blog! madicattt.com
Kiwi Food Wonders
This place murders, strangles, annihilates & generally blows cereal out of the water. After all, who’d want cereal with options like Savoury Mince with Butterbeans on Potato Rosti on offer instead?<br/><br/>Cereal Killa is an unpretentious little jewel in the desolate wasteland of souvenir shops, tech parts retailers & Asian healthcare agents pushing powdered rhino horn. The interior has pop art-tastic paintings large and in-your-face as well as a unique artwork made from cereal boxes. Tables & chairs are scattered through the split level cafe in the very “on trend” mis-matched vintage store style.<br/><br/>But we’re here for the food. One of the owners, a super-friendly English bloke, will sit down and have a chin-wag with you, so any specials will be apparent. The menu is pretty extensive, stacked with your standard Kiwi brunch faves, and a few novelties, such as the aforementioned Mince, a Breakfast Trifle and Coconut Porridge with Pear, Ginger & Rhubarb.<br/><br/>We opted for the Bacon, Tomato, Pesto & Parmesan Omelette with “a bloody good chutney” (if they do say so themselves!). The omelette was eggxcellent; light & fluffy with a few crispy bits round the edges. The “Half English” was similarly tasty. Comprising of mash, sausage, spinach, tomato, poached eggs and hollandaise, all the ingredients worked well together, if being slightly heavy on the mash.<br/><br/>To read more, check out: http://kiwifoodwonders.com/2013/04/18/cereal-killa/

Cereal Killa is a great brunch spot along Dominion Road which is better known for its dumplings than its coffee and eggs benedict. But here at Cereal Killa, the menu is fresh and thoughtful, steering away from the monotony of eggs and toast. The savoury mince with butter beans screams of Italian whilst the the omelette with bloody good chutney is, as its name says, bloody good.
