Great tasting food, friendly staff, and lovely cozy place. We found this place when we drove past and smelt the Yummy food. Literally found this place with our noses! That’s how good it smelt. Can’t wait to come back and try something new!

Awesome food. Wish I had more room. We will be back

The food is very good, fresh ingredients, well prepared and presented, and portions of a reasonable size. We really enjoyed our meal! The service is excellent. I've read that desserts are pre-made, but they were really nice nevertheless. I'd definitely recommend this place!

Well priced and exceptional main dishes with great variety. Love their white sauce dishes while my wife loved their tomato based dishes. Pizza is very nice and well priced with great quality. So price range can be very family friendly if you just want a pizza dinner; or more fine dine cuisine range if you wish to treat yourself. Either way you are in for a treat.

The first time i stepped into this restaurant I was hit by the delicious warm aroma of garlic bread. The decor is beautiful and the service attentive and polite. I couldn't believe I had never been here before. My meal and my friend's meals were absolutely incredible. I just read some other reviews and was shocked ! This place is amazing. I m going there again tonight!

Cozy little Italian restaurant. Friendly, excellent service, very good food and generous portions. Have eaten there several times and next trip to New Zealand we'll be back. Very Good Stop. Don't miss it.

Not fancy italian food, but good solid and tasty for a fair price. I've had better in italy but i would definitely come back here for more.
Steve Woods
Had great meal, and some fantastic Italian wine. Good prices and very nice staff.

Absolutely love this restaurant, the best food ever!!

Had a very average meal tonight. First choice of lamb shank was not available at 715pm. Very slow service. Very disappointed in small portion size after waiting 45 minutes for our mains. My Canneloni was rubbery and the advertised pine nuts were not present. They had used a different type of nut. When asked how the meal was we said it was average and had no apology at all even when we mentioned how long it took for our mains to arrive and that the food was not great. Do not recommend

Delicious food, very friendly staff. Would highly recommend.

We had a really good night celebrating My husbands 80th birthday we were a Party of 11 and although the restaurant was full and the staff very busy the food was good and the staff looked after us very well.
Keith Hoard
Wednesday date night. Very good food, good wine and good services. Took a little bit too long for food to be served.
Tamara Wood
Good food but slow service. Waitress looked above us when she walked past. So hard to get her attention.
Diane Woodward
Great service and delicious food. Great vibe. Felt like I was in Italy!
Maryam Hassan
Very friendly staff, Rude manager, would never go just because of the manager
Shanta Basu
The food was okay but it came after a hour & a half wait. One waitress serving over 40 guests...probably doubling as cook too...this after we had a prior reservation. Not on!

Amazing food highly recommend looking forward to going again

Delicious food, amazing wines, fantastic service every time!

I never feel as a customer in this restaurant, there is a friendly environment with amazing Italian foods.
Bailee Wilson-Yates
Amazing EVERY SINGLE TIME! great service, food and atmosphere

Our usual go-to Italian in restaurant in Milford. Their food is generally very good, especially the lamb shank, but service can be hit or miss. BYO is allowed and they do good takeaways too 👍
Kylie
I went here recently with my family. It was pleasant but not amazing. The food was nice, not amazing. I liked the garlic pizza bread. Quite high priced food. Ambience is nice.
Penny Berthoud
My meal was good but the rest of our table was not with all the pizzas tasting strange and looking burnt! The chef said it was different cheese as they had run out of their usual cheese but not good enough when 10 peoples meals were not nice and paid for in full! On top of that we waited almost 1.5 hours with hungry kids!
Jason Wech
We arrived at 7:30 pm for Valentines night dinner and did not receive our main till 9:10 pm!!! Waitresses were not familiar with the menu and almost avoided eye contact due to the long wait. The entree was average and my main dish of king prawns and pasta had no flavor apart from the Parmesan cheese grated on top. The service, the food and the whole experience was a let down from the start. I would never return to this restaurant

We love coming to Athenia, food is always great, service is friendly, just don’t have high hopes of owner won’t like you :) Garlic bread is too die for!
Carol
Food yummy wine just as good. felt a bit rushed by staff but they were pleasant. They did not take our drinks order so we had to chase them to order drinks. Music a bit loud for my liking it made me feel like I was yelling, but I prefer the music to be back ground noise so each to there own on this one.
Alex
Yummy food. Service was slack to begin with but improved as the night went on and even sang happy birthday when they brought the cake out. Also fast to take dirty plates away
Nina
Service was great and efficient <br/>Starting of garlic pizza bread was not the best,if you like raw garlic then it may suit you. But garlic wasn't cooked.<br/>Mains were delicious and absolutely tasty, on the pricy side but quality food <br/>Would come here again for pizza and pasta as it was delicious 😆
Brenda Weavers
I thought the food we had was excellent and the menu selection looked great - but the service was hit and miss.   Don't forget the table in the corner - maybe it wasn't allocated to a particular wait staff.  Having said that, being near the till we were able to hear comments of other people, and everyone seemed to comment on how great their food was and seemed to have a good night.
DJ Mirabito
Been here a few times and always a pleasure.  All types of dishes ordered for a group of 20, which is always demanding on the kitchen and staff and takes great management to pull off. Food was excellent as always, but what we were all commenting on was the waitress 'Ashley'. She is certainly an asset to this business and proved that great service is all about attitude and making a connection with the customer. Thanks again chef for a great night!
Cherie
Went on a Thursday, slow service with regards to the food, it was fairly busy but the food took a very long to come out regardless. The waitresses were lovely, fairly attentive. Pasta servings are huge. We also had the steak options. These were nice but ordinary. Pizzas looked good but we didn't try these. I recommend going if you want pizza and pasta and don't mind a wait..
Greg Brown
It's just nothing great and nothing bad. Personally I'm not a fan. However, my partner seems to like it. Just a little place tucked away that serves mediocre Italian food.
Kerri-Lee Cansdale
it is yuck they have my pizza 25mins just to come and it was the wrong pizza I asked for pinnacle pizza they gave me ham and cheese with no pinnaple
Anton Pienaar
Food Very average which may have been forgiven if our food had arrived all at the same time. My pizza was only brought to the table 15 minutes after my wife's meal had been brought to the table. Put a dampener on our visit and meal out. Did mention when paying only to not receive an apology only an excuse. Not sure we will be back.<br/>

One of the worst dining experiences of my life - wish we'd never gone there !!!!!<br/>Entrees were OK - main was awful and sent it back after 2 bites , then owner still tried to charge for the mains and got snotty when we said no
Amanda J Greenwood
Second time there snobs it was as great as the first. Family dinner (mum dad and kids). Thoroughly enjoyed the dinner. Nice staff. Will definitely go again. I have never had so much difficulty choosing what to have as there were so many delicious sounding options. <br/>
Andrew King
Ate here last night, first time, friendly greeting we decided to order garlic bread and pizzas, I have never eaten pizzas from a restaurant who doesn't make there own pizza dough, disgraceful ! especially from an Italian restaurant and over priced considering they are bought in bases, won't be returning ever !<br/>

We came without a booking so it was fine that we were seated in a pokey spot in front of the pizza kitchen. We ordered lasagna and cannelloni along with a mudcake for desert. The food was fine but overpriced for the quality the pasta dishes range from $20-25 and are more $15 dishes. The mudcake was average as well. The place is busy and they struggled to keep up with demand as they have a busy takeaway component as well. The staff were friendly and over all the experience was a good one. Would have given a better rating if the quality of the food was there.
Fiona
2nd time we dine at Athenia in Rome , friendly staff , quick service , it was after 9 pm on Thursday night and it was packed with people , a little noisy but we enjoyed the food , my husband and I both had snapper dish was really yum , big portion and full of flavor ,
Raspberry Beret
An above average Italian restaurant. Everything works well and no complaints whatsoever. It just seems to be lacking a little magic. Well worth a try though
Jaimee Carlyon
Amazing food, never lets me down. Love the layout of the place its a very beautiful place. I highly recommend the pastas and their Athenia Pizza :)
Melissa Bishop
Have came here for my brothers birthdays for the last 2 years and the service was amazing, the food is delicious, you get value worth your money and every staff member are friendly and professional!

Ended up in Athenia in Roma as the boyfriend was stating it was one of the best fettuccine's he's had. <br/><br/>With his love for Italian food and the decor hinting towards a holiday to Rome soon, I was excited to see what he was raving on about. <br/><br/>The service was lovely, felt like the waitress was new but she still made us feel welcome on a quiet Tuesday night. <br/><br/>The food itself was lovely sharing a garlic bread pizza to start with and fettuccine and pizza for mains. We tend to be the type to over order but everything was perfect portion size. I must say he was right on the fettuccine being delicious and would definitely order that next time. <br/><br/>We also decided to try the Italian Pinot Grigio to set our mood and we found it incredibly satisfying and a perfect fit with our food choice. Would definitely come to back just for the wine! <br/><br/>Overall lovely evening, great atmosphere and delightful food. Night would have been complete with a desert but sadly they didn't have the chocolate one we wanted. Hopefully next time.

Best customer service in Milford and delicious pizzas. We have been coming here for years and they even accommodated us when we had two babies in prams. Really cosy, lively atmosphere. For a small corkage fee you can also bring your own wine. Highly recommended.

I have always had a great experience when coming here. Food is always great. Music is always relaxing and the atmosphere is very comfortable. I love their rossini pasta and athenia pizza. Will happily be going back for years to come x
David
Visited the place on a busy friday night the restaurant was crazy busie heaps of people but still very fast customer service and delicious good quality food and the ambiance was awesome.
Mary Underwood
I would suggest booking if you want a quiet table. Partner and I stumbled upon Athenia while looking for somewhere to eat. We were seated quickly by the friendly staff who brought us menus etc. Settled for garlic bread as starters. Partner chose the lasagne....bursting with flavor and lots of meat. I opted for the pizza. Beautiful crispy base. Very fast service even though they were extremely busy. Definitely recommend
Adeline
Was there with a girlfriend for dinner. Great atmosphere, lovely customer service, good reasonably priced food. The appetiser  was simple but divine tasting (garlic pizza bread), my main (fettucini di pollo e spinach) was my favourite - coincidentally I was on a spinach diet lol and the dessert (I think it was choc brownie and some ice cream)  was lovely too.<br/>We were the last customers to leave the restaurant and they were nice enough to wait for us to finish! This is what I call AWESOME customer service.<br/><br/>Would def return - this is one of the unassuming Italian restaurants in Milford. Worth the drive.
James Jackon
our night here was quite pleasant, the food was deliciouse and came out very quickly, friendly staff, fantastic atmosphere and prices were reasonable.

oh another lovely experience last night. restaurant was packed ,lucky to booked before , the service amazing and the atmosphere awesome. I can not fault one thing about our dining experience. I highly recommend this restaurant.one of my favorite restaurant in north shore . be back soon.
Tracy
Your food is decidedly sub par and depending on which day you turn up for dinner the quality can be a bit of a Russian Roulette. The experience was ruined by the waiting staff who made us feel like we weren't welcome in their establishment and were inconveniencing them greatly. Won't be going back.<br/>I for one will never ever visit this restaurant again.
Chante Van Huysen
I have had multiple dishes from Athenia including their well known Athenia Pizza, it was divine. I have never been let down by the food that they serve and the atmosphere is just amazing, really cozy and romantic. I would recommend Athenia to people looking for a nice meal that is large and worth your money. :) <br/><br/>I will be returning again.<br/>Like I always do x

We have had takeaway pizzas from Athenia in Rome a couple of times before and they were pretty good, so thought we would try eating in today. My husband ordered a medium rare eye fillet which came out very thin, blue, and not looking anything like eye fillet. It was also tasteless and unseasoned, and served with dry, unseasoned mashed potato and very basic vegetables. The chef was unaccommodating with our requests prior to ordering, and did not deliver as per our order. When it came time to pay the owner stood behind the poor waitress, watching her like a hawk and rolling his eyes while she in-putted our meals to the computer. He didn't even acknowledge us at the counter, but made his frustration with the waitress very obvious. We told him our experience of the meals and he argued. We won't be going back.

We tried Athenia in Roma last week for the first time. We ordered an anti pasto platter to share. Italian restaurant, antipasto, really??? Salad, bottled pickled vegetables, cheap salami. Not great value for money at all. Mains were ok but nothing special but I see the pizzas are a hit, perhaps next time

After trying Al Forno in taka followed by Venice in Milford, myself and a girlfriend remembered there was the 'Italian around the corner'. Being a Friday night, like all places tried, it was busy. However we were warmly welcomed and given a table. Good start!<br/><br/>After about 15 mins a waitress came and asked us if we wanted menus - yes...this is usually a good start!<br/>Soon after, a second waitress presented us with a bottle of water.<br/>After about 15 further minutes we had to ask her ourself, if we could by any chance be given some glasses for our water!<br/> <br/> *meanwhile* the table to our left are complaining as their 'seafood pasta' has no 'seafood'! Nice!!!!!<br/><br/>Eventually we get the chance to order! 1 coke, some breads to start and 2 mains!<br/><br/>As I've seen below - coke was flat! How could you go so wrong! Also presented simply poured into a glass - some ice and a straw would have been a nice touch!<br/><br/>Breads finally came - odd presentation - but once again, I shan't be too fussy!<br/><br/>Myself and my friend decide to savr some bread to accompany our dishes!!! Was this concept completely ridiculous? One waitress came and whisked away one plate, still with 4 untouched slices of garlic bread. Followed by a second attempting to imitate and we soon told 'we'd like to keep that for our mains' on 2 occasions following, maybe just to pass time, she tried again!!! The same girl!!! WE WANT THE DAMN GARLIC BREAD!!!<br/><br/> *meanwhile* owner/manager/Italian sounding lady Goes around to all 4 tables surrounding with I must admit beautiful smile and thanks them all for waiting so long!...Oh no!!! Not a good sign! <br/><br/>At this point, we have been at Anthea for nearly an hour and a half in total!!<br/><br/>Yay - our mains come! Without being melodramatic - the wait was soooo ridiculous my friend had lost her appetite, and I just ate what was I front of me! I would have eaten anything!<br/><br/>For $40 ahead a meal, I wasn't expecting silver service! But I was expecting an enjoyable, convenient meal out! Not the confusion in which I left!!!! Why thank people for waiting so long??? Just don't take so long!!!<br/><br/>"Wouldn't go back...if you gave me a voucher!!!!!! ;)" hehe
Corey Henderson
Wow, the best pizza on the North Shore by far!! I am going to have to sample their in-house menu sometime soon but their pizza is truly the best, it's filled with so many delicious toppings, dripping with cheese, any other pizza shop on the north shore should be ashamed!!! Why only a couple of stars?? I see this place chocked filled with people all the time. . .<br/><br/>BTW, have only had take-away.
Blair Hill
Only ever had take away Pizza from here, but always excellent and on time. Have tried most places in Milford and still feel this is the best, might be a little dearer, but you get more on it. More like a real Italian Pizza. A real nice place.
Bob Jefferson
Bad Bad &amp; Bad. The food was ok, I had the chicken breast which was cooked well but tasted very salty. The standout was the rude and arrogant manager or owner. When we questioned the excessivley high corkage for 3 bottles of wine we had, he rudely told us not to come back and visit the other restaurants in the area??? Why would you treat your customers this way? Needless to say we wont be back and have told all family, friends and work colleagues to avoid like the plague, unless you like extremely bad service, don't waste your time here.
Haley Brausch
Decided to try this restaurant as local. Wish I had taken a look now at reviews. Meal was average but the Stand Out Point for myself and my friend was the arrogant and quite frankly disgusting attitude of the ?Owner or Management. We had a lovely pleasant waitress and found it very disturbing how she was treated and also openly for all patrons to hear. We hope she got her tip and hope this waitress has found other employment. If you are the owners time you left this type of business.

Last night we went to Athenia for dinner, I was very impressed the meal was just lovely. This is a local restaurant and one cannot expect to high an expectation but for the price we were very happy. We started with garlic pizza, I had salmon pasta with a greek salad -delicious, my husband had a seafood pizza, we followed with desert and they were both delicious. We also had a bottle of Italian wine. We loved our experience, it is easy and the staff were very nice. Our meal cost $123.00 and we thought this was great value for money.
Erin Spencer
I really can't get how they calculate the voucher to be worth $173... I didn't think it was anything more than what we paid for it. The meals (although tasty, except for the seafood one) were of a small entree/child size. The drinks were flat, and the wine was sour. Service was NOT good. They did not want our booking, and claimed to be "fully booked" and the soonest they could take us was 3pm! For lunch! I walk past at 1pm, when I tried to book for, and the restaurant was closed up! Not fully booked. The meals were very tasty, although more of an appetizer, and the service needs some work
David Livingstone
Friends and I dine there regularly. There's an 18 yo girl that runs the place most nights and when she's there the place runs like clockwork. Of course it's not a Euro but neither does it charge like one. It's good value for money and the meals are complete; no need for additional sides. And if you're not frightened of a rare steak, they'll cook it for you just as you like. The one common denominator I see in all the negative reviews is they're all using vouchers. Cheapskates.
BP
Mixed thoughts here.... I have been to Athenia 4 times, first time was nice and both my husband and I enjoyed our meals. Second and third time were average with the service amateur.the fourth time will be the last!!!!!!! To keep it short, our food took a very long time to arrive, we asked three times where are meals are before the owner or chef flew out to our table from the kitchen and Came close to an altercation with my husband due to his aggressive and threatening behavior. Never again.
Nikki
This place is terrible if your using the deal voucher. The value of the voucher was clearly $173.00 and all we got were four pasta dishes which were mediocre in taste and four glasses of fizzy drink. These would only have reached the value of $90 max We asked the guy to please explain and he was very rude and impatient and said we were wasting his time. He said something about coming back next time and getting a free bottle of wine. I can assure you we will not be coming back ever! <br/><br/>Service is bad, portions are small and definitely not worth the money!
David
It's been at least 2 years since we dined at Athenia, having moved from Milford, so were hoping the experience this time would be as good as we had remembered. It was! The four of us chose from the 'mains' menu, shared two desserts between us, and enjoyed a bottle of Marlborough Pino Gris. The service was friendly, the food was very tasty and well presented (each of our mains were under $30). What especially took my attention was the great "buzz" of a near full restaurant on a Sunday evening - I surmised, a lot of locals who knew from experience this would be an affordable and very satisfying night out with family or friends.
Ella Duan
This could be the worst place I ever been to. I bought the coupon on-line, and I expected the service would not be as good, but I didn't expect it would be that bad. <br/><br/>First of all, their phone booking system was a failure. So, I left a message and provided my mobile. And, the owner rang me 3 times, but I couldn't answer as I was in an hour appointment with my physician. Instead of leaving a message, he called my land line number and basically yelled at my landlord... saying how he called a million times and I didn't answer. Oh well, frankly my landlord wouldn't care just like any other normal person.<br/><br/>Still, I've decided to try it out since my friends and I had an appointment at Milford that afternoon anyway. This was a dumb decision. The service was plain bad. There was no greetings what so ever. And, the guys served us was rude and impatient. He not only seemed that he didn't want to be there, but also rushed us to order. The drinks was just as bad. And finally when the food turned up... I just promised my friends I'd make it up to them next time. I have to say the pastas were the worst I've ever had. The sauce were exact the same, even though we ordered different kinds. The noodles itself is supermarket quality. And, the size was smaller some kids meals. The vegetable weren't even fresh. The taste was not good too... we didn't finish despite the fact that the portion of the food were really small. It was a total disappointment even tho I didn't expect much at all.
Mandy
I'm using the voucher which states clearly that it's valid from Mon to Sun 12noon to 5pm. We arrived on Mon in 1.30pm and found that it's closed. I called the manager who's very reluctant for our booking and finally gave us an earliest booking at 2pm for 7 of us on next Mon. We ordered 6 spaghetti mariana, costs $24.5, and we all had a half-size spaghetti with cooked "frozen mixed seafood with unveined tiny shrimps worth $12/kg". Not to mention the sour, tasteless, half-filled complimentary white wine and the only staff dsappeared after the food had come.<br/>I am so embarrased because I think this is a 'GOOD' restaurant to recommend to my friends, elderly women, but what a shame! This restaurant sold the vouchers for better reputation or simply want to get rid of all the potential new customers. I tried the E-cucina Cafe in Albany through the voucher and it's really GOOOD. They gave you exactly what the quality should be no matter you were using a voucher or not.<br/>In a word, I will never ever try this restaurant again.
Elizabeth
What a disappointment to say the least. It was certainly an experience. The antipasto platter was a joke, the worst l have ever had. The mains were a good size, (l had chicken and my husband had the veal) but very plain and basic. As for the deserts, my husband had the grilled banana, it was more like baked in the skin and served with half of the skin removed with a small amount of sauce and a dollop of cream $14.50. I'm not sure what the house wine was but it was not good and the (basic size) glass was half full, The prices are high, the quality low and service poor. Sorry Athenia you really need to look at why you are in this business.
Tracy
I have to follow on with the previous negative reviews about the Athenia Roma Restaurant and Living Social deal. <br/>What a total rip!! Have done some excellent restaurant deals prior to this one and this was shambolic to say the least.<br/>We arrived was told to sit anywhere we wanted to which we did. We were given a menu at which stage the waitress spotted our living social voucher and said " Oh you have a Living Social voucher, proceeded to remove the menu and bring us a hugely reduced menu. Not one pizza offered on the Living Social menu, I mean come on you are in an Italian restaurant! The most expensive main offered on this rather limited menu - Lamb Shank, was not on offer as it had run out, yet the restaurant was not full. After looking at our very disappointing menu we made our choices. We got given the 1/2 a glass of complimentary wine and on looking around and seeing fuller glasses on other tables, my husband decided to ask the waitress why we had such small glasses of wine and was told actually she had given us more than what she was supposed to.<br/>We then waited almost an HOUR for this as the one previous review said shocking platter to share. It was not worth waiting an hour for. The main meal then took a further 40 minutes to get to us.<br/>What I want to know is why should be be compromised and have less of a choice of what we want to eat just because we had a voucher? I thought the point of the voucher was to encourage people to come and eat in your establishment, enjoy what was on offer like all the other full paying customers, instead we felt cheated and very let down!! Will never go back there again.
PAM WILKINSON
We had tried this restaurant a number of years ago and had a terrible meal, so decided to give it another go recently and now I know why we had never gone back.My husband said his meal was OK mine was terrible. It was suppose to be cannelloni but it was sheets of lasagne floating in some sort of liquid that someone had dropped a container of nutmeg into it. I had one mouth full and quite honestly that was it for me. I explained the problem to the waitress but no apology was given. All I can say is never again.
Vanessa Coles
We write in full support of the previous poster regarding our Living Social voucher experience at Athenia - what a joke! <br/><br/>To start with I rang up and left a message with a booking request, never heard back so called again to make the booking. Turned up and our booking was not in the book - they had no record of it -thankfully it was a Monday and although reasonably busy there were still tables available. <br/><br/>Move on to the food (and wine), it wasn't until we had finished our glass of wine that was "included" with the deal and decided to order a second glass which we would pay for that we realised that the glass included in the deal was a great deal smaller than their standard glass which we got with the wine we ordered - why didn't we get what would normally be served?? They are obviously trying to save a buck instead of giving what they are legally obliged to provide! <br/><br/>Move on to the food and yes, we too thought the Antipasto Platter was a complete joke! I have never seen an Antipasto Platter served with....wait for it - pre-cooked sizzler sausage (we swear that's what it looked and tasted like) and a salami that looked a lot like luncheon!! Top that off with a few cubes of standard cheese, 2 sundried tomatoes, some olives, a bit of green salad and 2 small bits of bread and there you have it - I checked their menu on the way out and they charge $24.50 for it - there is no way this can be what they serve on their "real" menu - it would simply be a total rip off for which I would refuse to pay.<br/><br/>To be fair, the mains were a surprise as they were of a good size and fairly tasty. Hubby had the smoked chicken pasta which was huge and tasted pretty good. The veal masala was tasty but not worth the $27.50 they charge on their menu in my opinion.<br/><br/>Waitress was hopeless - we were told the meat / chicken mains came with veges and "a baked potato". When mine arrived I asked where the potato was - she asked me to "check underneath the meat - it's probably there" - in fact the potatoes were sauteed in cubes, tasy but clearly she has no clue!<br/><br/>And that concludes our disappointing experience - we will not go back and I will be contacting Living Social to make sure the restaurant gets our feedback - they missed a great opportunity to impress and get some new local regulars - all in the name of being cheap!
Fiona
Shame on you Athenia for using the Living Social vouchers as a way to rip your patrons off. <br/>Poor service - antipasto platter a joke - Chicken dry - house wine expected. <br/>Having gifted the voucher to a young couple with kiddies that don't get out much and really look forward to a treat...I was embarrassed that they had such a bad experience. The vouchers are a great way to show case your food and service ...sad you don't get that ! Step up and make good on this they deserve another dinner <br/>
David Boshier
We headed along on a Tuesday night. There were a few full tables and the place was warm and welcoming. The young waiter was very helpful.<br/><br/>While the food is not cheap we really enjoyed the Pesce Del Giorno and Saltmbocca alla Rommana.
John Braggins
Rating says it all really. This placed used to have great food, friendly staff, and a rapid kitchen service. However, they have changed their menu - this was overdue - but the resulting options are at times not flash on the tastebuds. I suspect they have changed their chefs too<br/>Even though this restaurant location is very convenient for us, alas we are looking for a new favorite Italian to eat at
B & T
My partner and I went here a couple of weeks ago as we live near here and thought we'd try somewhere local. <br/>I have to say I was a little let down. The food was okay, nothing spectacular (I have to say I could probably do the same in my own kitchen at home).<br/>The service well that was something that needed a lot of work.<br/>The two waitresses that were working there. One looked like she was about 12 the other barely 17 years old. and the 12year must have been training as she was following the 17yr old around like a little lost puppy not even doing anything. <br/>We got our entree and it was a little dry (we got the garlic bread) and then the mains. As I said before they were average and something I could easily do at home.<br/>We also noticed that when we were at the restaurant there was another couple there. We're not really sure what happened but soon after they got their entree they just got up and left the table without even touching the drinks they ordered or the entree. and reading most of the other reviews on this there seems to be a lot of problems with the service. One other thing we noticed is that we left and were paying there was a lady with a baby in the corner (we think she was the owners/chefs wife and she wasn't with anyone else or eating but she was talking with the staff), which is nothing bad...but what was bad is the smell that was coming from the baby...lets just say it smelt like it needed to be changed (an hour ago) it was disgusting

6 of us went last night. It was chocker and although the staff were good there simply weren't enough of them to cope. The kitchen was worse. One and a half hour wait for the main!! Not surprising as there were only two cooks!! BUT the food was superb. I had an eye fillet - cooked to perfection.<br/>Impossible for them to cope. I will return but probably on a quiet night. JB

Food is fine but kitchen cannot cope in busy periods. Ridiculously long wait between courses. Management does not seem too concerned. Will not visit again.

Although we have been here before - this time the experience was completely disappointing. The food is very good - but the service is inexperienced and extremely slow. The restaurant was approximately 50% full and the kitchen was unable to handle the demand. The wait for our mains were extraordinarily long. All tables were experiencing this. The management acknowledged this, but didn't really seem to understand they have lost a customer. Cannot recommend, despite the food being good.

Went there on a busy Friday with the kids and had an above average meal. The service was attentive, and the price not unreasonable. Should be a safe bet!

We had a pleasant evening out (midweek, reasonably quiet). Staff pleasant. Meal tasty though not overly exceptional. Service friendly and efficient without either rushing or undue delay. <br/>Prices were higher than on-line menu here indicated (we chose this over Lago Verde because of the apparent price difference though in the end prices were about the same).<br/> We took our own wine. Corkage was a very reasonable $5 per bottle.

A friend booked a table for us in their "separated" area for a party of 13. Initially there were a couple of other tables occupied in this area, but once they left we had it to ourselves. It's BYO :-) so the wine was great plus food and service too. No problems with each couple paying their account either. An enjoyable evening.<br/><br/>THANK YOU

Hmmm. not often I can say I have been out and had my family be pushed by the owner. We had what I would call a medium sized group of 14 and booked well in advance. After waiting a long time and watching others get their mains / deserts etc we asked a couple of times when our meals will be ready. We were told once 'In about 2 mins' We asked again almost 30 mins laters. At this stage as we could not be given a time of arrival we advised we were leaving. we were advised by the owner "Nobody leaves my restaurant" and he placed his hand on one of our table. We went to leave and the owner pushed him into the table. After police arrived the waiter did in fact apologise for pushing in front of the police. I hope your staff enjoyed the 14 mains we didn't pay for (or eat) if in fact you had even put them on!! By the way over half of our group would be between 40 - 60 so you are aware we are not a bunch of difficult teens. The owners Italian pride has been hurt and a lot of customers will no longer come back with your attitude! How dare you. We have been there a number of times with a bigger group than this and never had this issue before.

No desserts...what the hell?

Generally, the food and atmosphere were lovely. However, the parmesan was stuck to the bottom of the jar and when we asked for more parmesan the waitress just slammed the jar on the back of our chair and said "you just need to do this". I don't consider myself a picky person but to give the impression of an authentic Italian restaurant they should really offer fresh grated parmesan. Sounds like a silly thing but it did change our perception of the restaurant slightly which is a shame.

We went to this restaurant last night with a party of 40. We had a set menu. The food was yum, it took quite a long time before our order was cooked and there were some mix ups in the food bought out but over all i would recommend Athenia. <br/><br/>They ran out of two of the deserts, and the duty manager was seen pointing the finger at our party and telling the waitress that our party was not allowed to order any more food (as i gather the kitchen wanted to close up!) it was quite amusing. The atmosphere was lovely, i agree with the last comment left about the noise level, perhaps they need to get some windows open to allow the sound to dissapate?<br/><br/>Would definitely recommend Athenia to those wanting a reasonably priced meal out with some yummy food.

My family often go to Athenia. The staff are always super friendly. I find I am still wanting after some of the dishes but I love the fish!!! We will continue to visit.

Fantastic food and service all of the 5 times I have dined @ Athenia's..

We were advised that to go there by our friends. This advice did not disappoint with the two highlights for me being the entrée mix of mussels and scallops and following main by king prawn risotto. Fantastic menu, brilliant service too. Waitresses are lovely and very patient with our kids. It is very difficult to give this restaurant anything less than 5 stars. We have already booked our next weekend there.

Athenia in roma had been recommended to me by a couple of people, so I booked it for my birthday dinner. I am so happy to say it was wonderful experience. The food was fantastic, there was plenty of it and it was full of flavor, the service amazing and the atmosphere awesome. I can not fault one thing about our dining experience. I highly recommend this restaurant.
