Review Yume - Auckland Central

We went for dinner for a friend's birthday. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The food was really good quality and overall all very delicious. What we ordered: Chicken wings - Light and crispy on the outside and still flavourful on the inside, not dry either. Katsu Chicken - Very crispy and thin skin, chicken was again very succulent and not bland at all. King Prawn Sushi Rolls - prawns were fresh and had a crispy crunch on the outside, slightly spicy mayo which balanced well with the other flavours. Super Ramen - noodles were on the softer side, not what I prefer but the flavour was still nice. The pork was very tender. Feijoa Fizz - the drink was very tangy, but I enjoyed it. It apparently had lychee in it, but I couldn't taste it very well, perhaps it was overpowered by the feijoa. I didn't have any of the sashimi but it was presented beautifully. I'm not a fan of seafood and I think it would worth more the price if you do like it, which is the only nitpick I have.

Friendly, attentive staff. Fresh seafood, and the ebi mayo prawn roll was very good. Nice ambience as well.

Went here for my birthday this year. Staff were very friendly and patient. The food is delicious - well seasoned, good quality, good portions.

This is a classy Japanese restaurant in Auckland . On our wedding anniversary, I had a delicious dinner with my family, and the Sashimi recommended by the owner was very fresh.

Top quality staff, very friendly and helpful from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. Luckily restaurant is big enough to not worry too much about being close to others in level 2 alert level dining. Menu has flavours which pack a punch, favourites of ours being the soft shell crab so nicely lightly fried, and salmon fireball nigiri (a must have). Didn’t get the chance to try the big dishes, but will have to return to try them next time if the small isakaya dishes are anything to go by.

Amazing place! Food is always so delicious and very good prices for absolutely amazing food. Lovely service and staff. Have been there about 15 times now and can’t recommend it enough!

The Shashimi is a much try, fresh and nice. The ambience is 4 stars, Service 5 stars and for food I will give 4 stars to rate a a quick casual restaurant. Not all dishes is great

Really amazing restaurant! Have ordered their takeaway large sashimi platter twice - IMO the best sashimi platter in Auckland both for value and quality Have also dined in once with a big group and the service and food were really attentive and great! Definitely a solid choice and the place we return to very often!

Ora King Salmon Sushi Roll is the BEST! They serve the freshest sashimi in town! Staff were friendly and attentive. Ambiance is nice and comfortable.

I never review anything but Yume is just one my damn top favorite places to eat, super fresh fish, reasonably priced and delicious menu options, and the staff are so friendly and at your service that it ties together the whole experience leaving you feeling cozy when you finish your meal

The pictures don’t lie! This place is as fresh and delicious as it looks! We had amazing sake and a good price range of sake options. The staff is great!

Lovely place - nice cocktails - refreshing, sashimi platter was awesome - thick slices of fresh raw fish beautifully presented - we tried salmon fillet, chicken katsu, chicken karaage, fries and prawns - menu was not that big, odd how you order “mains” but have to add rice etc also … mains nice but sort of ordinary. Would recommend though based on sashimi and sushi alone and would come back again

Nice food. Nice presentation. Returned for another dinner here tonight. Thoroughly enjoyed the food and service.

Fantastic Japanese eatery in Auckland. Sashimi was fresh and well prepared (Bluefin Tuna, Salmon and Snapper). The Unagi Rolls were good, the soft shell crab was amazing. And the Chicken Karaage was on point. By far the best dish was the Salmon Yaki. It was cooked to absolute perfection. I've never had a Salmon straddle being cooked and raw quite so delicately. Staff were friendly, attentive and quick. Ambience was quite good too. The food isn't cheap, but seems well worth for the quality.

Haru no Yume is a popular lunchtime hang out at Victoria Park. We came on a weekday for lunch and the place was packed with workers from around the area, enjoying a delicious lunch at the restaurant. We opted to order from the menu rather than the sushi counter and we were very impressed with the quality of the food served. The sashimi platter which was two tiered came with thick slices of assorted fish as well as oysters on a bed of ice. The poke bowl was nicely dressed with a spicy gochujang sauce and plenty of fish. The ramen portion was just right for my dad and the creamy broth was superb. Although the restaurant was very busy, the staff were all friendly and attentive. Would come back again and try their dinner menu!

Customer service: 5/5 Food 5/5 Price: if you dont eat fish dont bother, would say worth the experience and pretty decent for town Feedback: bit more variety with types of sauces/meat (hotpot)if possible Personal note: As a person who does not eat fish much or sticks to simple raw fish, I gave this a 5 rating coz even though I dont eat fish it would be unfair to give it a lower rating as I already knew what was to come from checking the website and also for others whos tastes buds are more catered for this type of menu. In saying that the all you can eat is legit with its selection of fried food (prawn tempura, karaage etc and sushi) try to eat as much of the raw fish platter just to try it not my cup of tea but have family and friends who are into this and may want to try it. Loved the atmosphere and customer service was on point. 5/5 for me

We've been coming here for a while now, at least once a week for lunch. It's always a tough decision between the spicy chicken karaage and the pick-your-own sushi... Karaage mostly wins though (they give us the extra hot sauce without asking now!) We have now tried the evening buffet too and it was a dream; just as good as we'd imagined. The platter to start was fantastic and the hot-pot was really fun to cook with loads of choice to get from the buffet. And who doesn't like making their own soft serve desserts?! With extra sprinkles, course. Thanks for the great food, we'll be back for sure!

Love this restaurant! Dined for a second time, and left completely fulfilled. Delicious Japanese food, even better buffet style. I couldn't complain about the wonderful service on both occasions. This restaurant is full every time we come for a reason!
Silvino Remo
I recommend the buffet if you love sashimi because they served us excellent cuts of salmon and tuna. Otherwise, the other Japanese dishes were just mediocre. I was also a bit disappointed since Unagi was not served (although their previous menu stated everything is included in the buffet)

Was very curious about this place after reading so many good reviews and for it being all-you-can-eat, which is something rare in Auckland. The staff is very thoughtful and the food is good. Good-quality fish, nigiris are extremely small but you can have as many as you like, so not much of a problem there. I did expect it was going to be better though, more focused on the sushi, with more variety, as I don't care too much for the hot plates when in a Japanese restaurant, still good value for your money and a lovely atmosphere.

Good food, very affordable and great staff. The seafood is always fresh as well.

Food 5/5 Customer Service 5/5 Manager being sexually inappropriate... 0/5 On one hand, the food and general service was A++. On the other hand, the manager and a female staff member were having quite a loud conversation about 'a girl who looked right at home in a porn flick with her glasses etc' and their porn viewing habits. I was right in front of them, getting sushi and also happened to be wearing glasses. Was the conversation about me? I might never find out. They had no idea I could understand every word of their Japanese conversation and the manager himself looked very sheepish when I confronted him about it, but made no effort to deal with the matter with himself nor the staff. He did deny that it was about me, but kept defending their conversation as 'banter'. My meal was paid in full without any kind of compensation, but I did have the manager creepily follow my every move around the restaurant until I got so uncomfortable I had to ask him to stop 'serving' me. Keep up the good work with the food, guys. But maybe next time you have sex and porn 'banter' at the sushi counter with your workmates, do it in English and see if it's as acceptable as you think it is? Again, the rest of the staff were lovely and the food was great, but there are other great places to have Japanese food without feeling like I'm on a 4chan thread.

Surprisingly good food!!! Will definitely visit again!! Very friendly staff, and some cute girl staff too, if soft drink can be included in buffet will be perfect lol

For a good family night out with excellent food, atmosphere, service, go to Haru no Yume. It's more than just sushi. Arigatou gozaimasu.

The buffet was amazing, my first time trying Shabushabu and it was awesome! The staff were so helpful and friendly, the food was fresh and plentiful, what a great atmosphere! We will DEFINITELY be back!

Was our 2nd time here. We tried a few different things this time. But still got the salmon roll. My favourite and the best I’ve ever had. Will keep on coming here. Service is great. Very friendly. Quick with meals coming out. Always so fresh too. Love 💕

Honestly my new favourite Japanese! My family came here on a saturday night and they called to say they were fully booked so only had the bar table available, however when we got there, they had arranged a table for us! The staff were all super friendly and helpful. I am vegetarian but wanted a poke bowl as sounded amazing so instead of the sashimi they offered to use tofu and it was delicious!! The kimchi was also so good and fresh tasting. My family got the small sashimi platter and said it was really good! Cucumber salad was divine. Everything was amazing and great atmosphere and service

Really lovely experience and friendly staff. Food was delicious and well worth the price. Favourites were the soft shell crab sushi, Tokyo chicken wings, prawn tempura and soy chicken 😍 sashimi was nice but nothing special for the price
CARO CONSUMES
Been eating here on and off for 2 years. The staff are so friendly and fair about the sushi (giving extra pieces or subtracting cost if sizes are abnormally small on the day). The sushi is something I look forward to. It’s not only visually pleasing but is tasty and lets me ditch the soy sauce (which is something I use to drown bad sushi sometimes). 10/10 would recommend.

Fresh Sashimi and nice environment. Prefer to have more sake selection.

Great place to dine with family and very flexible with booking. Love sashimi in this place. They’ve changed from buffet to al la carte menu providing more fresh food.

The food here is so good. I love love the sushi. And the agedashi tofu is perfect. Beef tataki is very well seasoned. And they have an amazing vegan choc ice cream. Owner is super friendly too. Totally will come back

HARUU NOO YUUUMEE!!! Great service, great food and amazing portion sizes. I got the JFC and it was divine. Chicken was absolutely juicy and delicious.
My colleagues bought the ramen and said it was one of the best they had. So will definitely come back here to try that. Prices are just a tad bit high so dont expect to get 3 course meal under $50.
Maesian
Went on a Saturday at 1730 booking. Less crowded, great selection of food and the sashimi platter was amazing!

My partner and I have been coming here for the last 3 years.. its our favourite Japanese spot!

YUM!! Have been wanting to try this place so long and finally booked with first table. The service was so nice and friendly and the food was amazing. The Beef tataki was incredible it has an amazing almost pickled like onion on top and the sauce was so tasty. The cucumber salad was also amazing as was the Karage Chicken, the Katsu Chicken, the Eggplant, the Goyzas, the prawn roll and the Garden Salad. Will be making this place a regular!
Food Adventures With AnnaJ
I had a real hankering for japanese and love trying new places. We ordered the salmon sushi, gyoza and kaarage chicken to start. Omg best sushi I have ever had!! Packed with fresh salmon. Kaarage was super yummy with plenty of sauce. We didnt like the gyoza, overcooked and tasteless unfortunately.
For main we had wafu steak and ramen. Strak was tender and well seasoned but could have had a small side salad or something else on the plate. Ramen was great, crunchy fresh spring onions and semi hard boiled eggs were perfect.
Service was quick and pleasent. Had to ask for water though.

Staff is not quite aware of how Zomatos Gold promo works. Food is a little bit above average, sashimi can be more fresh. Quick serving tho.
Yoyo
had buffet last night, the food is average. Too much deep fried food, the sashimi were tinny pieces and thick, looks like "remnant" of fish.
Doris Ma
Love this buffet! They begin with sushi/raw platter, before introducing a shabu shabu.
The beef tataki in the platter is amazing, the beef is very tender and thinly sliced with tangy caramelized onion. Their sashimi are fresh and sweet.
The shabu shabu broth is simple which is quite refreshing. They have a decent selection of shabu shabu ingredients included in the buffet.
My favourite would have to be the salmon nigiri, both salmon and rice are super soft so that the salmon almost melts in your mouth and the rice falls apart and molds together with the salmon. It is very smokey and the sauces on top accompany it beautifully.
However, they used to serve fresh karaage chicken which was my second favourite dish there, but they've changed that to a buffet style so the chicken is not as tender and the batter not as crunchy and fresh.
Prices are a bit high at $57 pp so it's not somewhere I'd come regularly, but is a nice place for a date night.
ㅇㅇ
A Japanese buffet near Victoria Park. It is quite pricey with the dinner buffet price of $57 per person, but I reckon it is so worth it. They have really high quality of sashimi, hotfood as well as steamboat with fresh vegetables and many ingredients you can choose from. I really like their welcome dish too - beef tataki and chicken karaage.
YEe LiNg
Disappointed as I put high expectations and there is high rating in zomato. Food selections was limited. Service was prompt and nice though, they serve the entree immediately once we sat down, however, hot pot took ages to serve. What I like the most is their soft serve ice cream. Good try but don't think will go back again for this price value

We came here for dinner on a Thursday night courtesy of first table.

The initial service was welcoming and friendly. We had already looked at the menu prior to our evening so we were quick to order. My friend isn’t fond of mayonnaise so she asked if the sauces could be placed to the side. The waitress was accommodating and understood our request. Ten minutes later, a wait staff asks us why we wanted the sauce on the side and it’s a bit of a hassle for the chef to do so. Note, this is the first time we’ve ever been asked this question and received that response.

We started our dinner off with the karaage chicken. This isn’t the best chicken I’ve tried, the chicken was a bit dry and lacked a bit of flavour but the sauce that accompanied it was flavoursome. We followed this with the gyoza and soft shell crab. Both were excellent and very little fault. The highlight dish of the night was the agedashi tofu, I ended up drinking the sauce because it was pure delish. For mains we ordered the eel sushi, super ramen and salmon. The eel sushi was a bit dry and scaly. Hands down the best ramen I’ve had in Auckland. My mouth was in heaven with all the flavours plus they provided spicy powder for me to add to my liking. We ended the night off with a black sesame ice cream, this was not as sweet as I’d imagined but it was ok.

Overall, I was happy with what we paid (after first table). The food was good with the highlight being the agedashi tofu and super ramen but the chicken was lacking flavour. The service was ok except for that one wait staff that started questioning my friends dislike for mayo.

We came here on a Saturday night which was a buffet. Not your typical buffet though. The fresh seafood and the salads is all I ate. DELICIOUS!! There is a great selection of all sorts.. So good! You can also have hot pot and dessert. I would be keen to come back on a night that is not buffet and order from the menu.
Harsen Agon
This buffet is so good. The sashimi platter we received firsthand was delectable and fresh. There was a great selection of fried food like tempura, takoyaki and dumplings. One of my favourites was the spicy tuna sushi. The salads were also fresh. There was not a great selection of dessert, for which would have been expected for a slightly more expensive buffet. The hotpot was also quite nice. Service was amazing too.
Nathalie
This place is really cute and cosy. Upon arrival we were seated promptly and the place was already packed. We had the $57 pp buffet option. Their seafood platter was great and was presented nicely if you wanted more you can get more from buffet. Overall it was just slightly above average, fresh unlimited salmon and tuna was great! Lots of deep fried food choices (tokoyaki, chicken Katsu, dumplings etc.), some salads and sushi options as well. They have a hot pot option but not much choices in terms of meat they only had 1 selection. To be honest it’s pretty pricey although the food were very fresh, there wasn’t much choices and for dessert it was ice cream and brownies. Also we were over charged for something we didn’t order and we didn’t realise until after paying and leaving, which was annoying and it was our fault for not checking! so heads up their staff are nice but sometimes not organised with tables and he didn’t give us the receipt - therefore always ask for the bill receipt before paying. It would be good if they had labels on their dishes too as we had no idea what some were And by the way the place is very crowded (not really kids friendly). It’s good to try once and probably that’s it.

Absolutely one of the best restaurants in Auckland. Atmosphere is sophisticated without being pretentious, with wonderful service, and amazing food. For starters, the edamame was nicely salted, gyoza had a tasty toasty wrapper, and the tempura prawns were absolutely beautiful with a dipping sauce I was nearly ready to pick up and drink, it was so good. The super ramen lived up to it’s moniker, with a delicious creamy, buttery broth and charsu so soft and tender it practically melted in your mouth, and even the egg was just the right texture. We also had a lovely chicken katsu and sushi nigiri plate that were both beautifully presented. To top it all off, we finished with the black sesame ice cream and an astonishingly satisfying mr softcone.

I went here with three other friends.

Atmosphere: 3.5/4
No on-site parking, however getting a carpark wasn't too hard. The place is located off the main CBD area but still close enough to city. Interior of the restaurant was nice with fairy lights.
It's good for group of 2-4 people, however can cater for bigger groups.

Food: 4/4
** BEST Sashimi, 4 ppl ($67); depending on what your appetite is like, this can be consumed by two people.
** Beef Tataki ($17); pretty good
** Soft Shell Crab ($18); good but very little portion.
** Karaage Chicken ($15); good but very little portion.
** Wafu Steak ($27); good but the sauce was a bit salty.
** Mr. Softcone Black ($6); black is chocolate, and white is vanilla. You can also get ask for mixed (chocolate and vanilla). The cone is matcha flavoured. Although it may sound very normal, I personally really liked it.
** Black Sesame Ice Cream ($14); can share it with a friend or two. It was alright.

Service: 4/4
Friendly and very productive service.

Cost: 3/4
The food is pretty good, but wouldn't say it's super cheap.

Recommend anyone who is looking for a good Japanese restaurant in Auckland CBD.
If you are there with a friend, I recommend getting the BEST sashimi (4 ppl.) and a main dish.

I had my birthday dinner on last Saturday with my family. The food was very tasty, fresh and the service was very polite and promote. Especially the entree platter, it had great selection and the prevention was beautiful. The only issue I had was the bathroom, it wasn’t very clean and not matches the restaurant quality.
Amindha Fernando
Been here a few times for their buffet and it is great! Ingredients are super fresh and their sashimi platter is a great way to start the meal! Service is prompt and friendly which is always a bonus!

Have never been a fan of seafood or sashimi. We tried this place and decided to try the sushi and sashimi and it was amazing.. il definitely be back!!!! The staff are so polite and friendly as well! And the brownies in the dessert area are amazing as well. Love this place. The hot pot was and fried foods were great too and you can make your own poke bowl.

love it here every time! many ppl say it’s too expensive but the price is at the expense of top quality fresh ingredients. the staff are super friendly and the atmosphere is very pleasant. can’t wait to come here again!!!!!!

Saw a post on wechat a while ago about their buffet menu, was pretty keen to try it. Finally had the chance last night, pleasantly surprised with the quality of the buffet. Me and our friends had a good time and enjoyed the dinning experience, love to give their dinner menu a go next time.

Love this place! Always serves great food and great service. Buffet has fresh sashimi my husband loves and lots of option for the kids as well. Can’t wait to return :)

Came here for the buffet dinner a few weeks ago on a Friday.
First of all the sashimi was fresh and love how they give you a variety not just salmon and tuna.
As for the buffet everything was spot on.
The tempura was crispy and light, the cooked meats like teriyaki chicken and korean pork? Was tasty and their ice cream was a nice touch to finish the meal.
You can also have hotpot and a DIY poke bar.
It is a bit pricy but with all the fresh seafood included I think it’s a pretty good deal.
Staff were lovely and accommodating as well:)

**oysters are not part of the buffet

Came here for a work lunch/drinks and had a wonderful time. The manager was really friendly and accommodating for such a large group. We ordered sharing platters and a few of us got the winter ramen, which they said was next level. Thanks for hosting us!

Came here on a Monday night and they had a la carte menu rather than their widely talked about Japanese buffet. It was amazeballs and pretty much ordered a buffet of food anyway. Great service and nice clean, modern Japanese aesthetic. Highly recommend, will definitely be back soon.

5.5/5 Taste
5/5 Display
4.5/5 Quantity
5/5 Customer Service

Best Japanese Restaurant in Auckland, New Zealand.

Sashimis and oysters to poke and ice cream, this restaurant offers you the best Japanese fine dining experience you could ever wish for.
Sashimi platter with oysters, served with fresh wasabi and delicious lit oyster sauces, I could say it was the absolute best oyster I tasted. Sashimis tasted so fresh it felt like they were top tier grade sashimis.
Beef tataki was amazing, the texture, the sauce, it was just so soo pleasing. I think it was ground horseradish on top that gave it a really well balanced taste.
Chicken Karage and Chicken wings. Oh boy here we go. These were soooooo lit omg, the texture is like the best fried chicken I have ever had, so krunchy on the outside yet moist juicy and tender in the inside, coated with fantastic sweet soy sauce. I recommend these if you love chicken.
Soft shell crab was my favourite, the texture, the sauce. I have tried a lot of soft shell crabs around Auckland because it’s one of my favourite dish but this place beats all of them. Highly recommended even if you DON’T like crabs.
Bento box with spicy pork felt like it had the whole package, from tempuras, pickles, soup to sushi. Highly recommended if your partner is picky or doesn’t know what to order.
Beef Tartare, this was not on the menu but it was provided by the owner. I’m a true fan of these and I absolutely demolished this dish as soon as it came out.
King Salmon poke was my main, comparing with other poke restaurants, Haru no Yume’s poke bowl was simple yet well balanced. It was simply rice, salad, edamame, salmon, sauce and i saw bits of egg I think. The sauce was really amazing as it reminded me of a spicy Korean sauce we use to eat sashimi with.
Lastly the ice cream. Vegan Chocolate soft serve ice cream on matcha cone wtf so good I’m not sure what to say. Vanilla was really really vanilla-y felt really rich.

Haru no Yume is probably the go to place if you want to amaze your family, friends or your date, because whatever you order, you will be satisfied.

This restaurant suprid me a lot,my lunch experience was soooo good!staffs are nice and friendly, service really fast, green tea is organic and perfect match the meal. I ordered sashimi plate and oyster, those are super fresh, and sauce on side was special but taste good. Bento box is a valuable lunch set which really suit for a quick lunch, include sushi spicy pork「u can choose others too」side dish, salad, rice and miso soup.beef tataki with egg yolk on it, staff told us don't blend it, just dip it, and it was truly nice. This restaurant will be my favorite now, affordable, quick and delicious all together.

Even Better than before, The food is fantastic!

Fresh sashimi delicious oysters in korean spicy sauce. Juicy beef tataki and full mouthful portions of soft shell crab. The chicken dishes were absolutely delicious with options of home made sauces.

Spicy pork lunch set is extremely tasty and makes you want to crave more!

Also don’t forget to try their Italian vegan chocolate ice cream! I can not believe how great it tasted being such a healthy dessert option!

Will definitely be back very soon!

Service: 5/5
Environment: 4.5/5
Presentation: 4.5/5
Food Quality: 5/5
Food Quantity: 5/5
Price per person: $60pp

I guess most of you would know Auckland is a little big city, its small in population and big at heart. Having said that we have a lot of things that most metropolitan city has but it may be only one or a couple of each. To give some perspective to that for example a big city like Los Angeles may have tons of options for Turkish restaurant or Lebanese in Auckland we have them as well but may be only one or two of those establishments, In the States in the supermarkets you might have 30 quinoa brands here we have one or two and that goes the same with good Japanese buffet restaurants, I only knew two Katsura and our restaurant for today Haru No Yume.

This is what Sashimi dreams are made of.🍣💞
Have you tried the splendid buffet from @harunoyume_victoriapark yet?🙌
•The oysters so fresh, they slide right into your palate and get you dancing with joy.
• If you are a seafood fan, this place is not to be missed. Not only for the price you pay, Haru no Yume has a huge diversity of food options and I enjoy especially that the first courses are served on the table, so we can avoid the buffet rush - and pace the evening better. The staff are so so so friendly and smiley 😊 we were really taken care of. The spot is clean and the ambiance very warm and enjoyable - food was fresh and constantly refilled and we secretly enjoyed the ice cream machine in the end of the evening way too much!
Simone Press
Food wasn’t that great - pretty boring menu and sushi is below average given how expensive it is. The menu itself also isn’t that expansive - and there aren’t ton many options. The staff is also not super fluent in English so sometimes it’s hard to communicate and understand. Came here for the Zomato Gold deal but will likely not return!

I went to their buffet for my birthday and was truly impressed. You will definitely love this place if you love sashimi. They start you off with a beautiful platter of sashimi, nigiri, beef and sushi. After enjoying the platter, they bring over a pot for hotpot. They have an unlimited supply of sashimi, nigiri, sushi and other delicious Japanese dishes so you can eat as much as you like. For dessert, they have ice cream, meringue, brownies and fruits. Overall, the experience was amazing. If you haven’t tried it, you should definitely go. You will leave feeling full and happy. You will not regret it.

Had dinner with families here. Food was nice. Service was good. Overall experience was great. Recommended.

They have ice cream for dessert, vanilla and cocoa flavour. I hope to see green tea ice cream next time please! GREEN TEA desert, please!!!

Came here for the buffet and am quite pleased with the options. There were a variety of sushi and sashimi, deep fried items, cooked dishes, sukiyaki and for dessert, ICE CREAM!
Really enjoyed the platter we received at the beginning of our meal consisting of various sashimi and nigri. Disappointed that there wasn't more of it!
Lala
Been here twice with other colleagues. Both times the food was delicious. The serving size is fair but might not be very filling considering the price. The presentation and plating of the food was perfect even though we came during lunch both times which can be very busy.

Yummiest Japanese restaurant I’ve ever been to! The owners and staff are the nicest people and always make the customers feel special and welcome.

I came here a few days ago for the dinner buffet and was blown away. Their fish is really fresh and there is plenty of things to choose from - sushi, sashimi, tempura, make your own poke bowl, ingredients for shabu shabu and a desserts. The vegan chocolate ice cream was SO RICH AND TO DIE FOR!! The staff were incredibly sweet, friendly and polite - always with a smile on their faces which added to the experience. The food was really authentically japanese so if you're a big lover of sashimi and japanese cuisine, this place is a must!

Food - 5/5
Ambience - 4/5
Service - 5/5

Quite possibly one of the best, if not the best tonkotsu ramen places in Auckland. Broth was nice and creamy, noodles had a good bite to them, egg was absolutely delicious, the meat was okay. Only down side is that it is a bit expensive.

Very easy to book thru their website and they acknowledged with a personalised text upon booking and on the day of the booking. Sashimi platter was a great appetiser with a lot of variety. We got miso soup from the buffet but it was only luke warm. We were given a hotpot after the platter and there was a station for the hot pot ingredients. Buffet consisted of a lot of sushi, tempura and squid, chicken teriyaki, smoked fish and a pokè bar. Limited options for dessert-fruits, the most delectable brownies, jelly, and they had a soft serve ice cream maker, as the manager/owner quoted "gelato from Italy"- very yummy especially the chocolate!
It is quite expensive but worth it if you love Japanese food!

I love Japanese food and buffets. A great selection of fresh seafood all you can eat, super worth as sashimi does not come cheap. They also have a range of already cooked noodles, rice and ingredients for you to do a hotpot after consuming all the sushi and sashimi. Plus they have complimentary ice cream, fruit, cakes and coffee!

Excellent service! Waitresses and boss are super nice and friendly. Always smiling and helpful. Good food definitely worth the price. Highly recommend this place to anyone!

Having arrived late to a group booking (a couple weeks ago) I’d missed out on the starters although the group reassured me ‘they were great and plenty’ I managed to get the lil bits left.. and mmm even though it was just the start I was excited to dig in. We booked in for the buffet menu - definitely worth every $$ with Shashimi on tap! There’s a fair variety of delicious Japanese cuisine to fill the tank right up. Mmm Takoyaki! Gimme more!. The Vegan Chocolate ice cream is to die for - even had the few anti vegan peeps drooling for more! Pics were few as the food was going down quick. Would recommend for any occasion.

Best Japanese food in Auckland. Came here for both lunch and dinner, they have got the most fresh sashimi. I have tried a lot of other Japanese restaurants but none beats here. Highly recommended.
Ivan
Super friendly staff and great atmosphere! But was quiet uncomfortable as some of the staff was giving us looks and judging us because of our young age, as if we couldn’t afford it. The variety of dish options was very limited for the price ($57 per person). Overall great experience, the sushi was spectacular and if you are willing to pay $57 for the buffet then I would highly recommend this place.

Where do we start. Its a nice neet little place. Its what to expect from a buffet of japanese food. Mostly finger licking food of tempura, sushi and sashimi of salmon, tuna and snapper. I personally liked it if thats all your after. A good time and the servers are really attentive when you are finished and help clearning your plates.

today been this restaurant for family dinner. Honestly food is ok. price is ok but really unhappy the waitors comes to the table and push for payment during having dinner! very bad feelings. wont go again for this service.

Expensive for the limited choice of selections. The food is ok ans staff are friendly. Personally i just dont think i would pay that much again for the limited selections of food.

We tried the dinner buffet tonight. The service was good. Friendly staffs. But not many selection of food to choose. The quality of food is good. Wish that they can add some more cuisines that are attractive.

Out of all the buffets that I have gone to in Auckland, this is my favourite. I haven't gone to an incredible amount of buffets, although this does include the more expensive places like Langham and the many Korean BBQ places. This is my personal favourite buffet in Auckland, so out of the places that I have been to and my love for Japanese food. The sashimi platter that you get at the start is basically like a taster for a bunch of the foods that they have on offer. I love how they had this as I think this helps with people that aren't as adventurous. There's also the shabu shabu that came after this and with all the other options that are there makes the $50 really good value. They didn't have the poke section when I was there but now that they do it just adds more value to it. My favourite part of the buffet was the fried section that was filled with various things like takoyaki and vegetable tempuras. I would probably go there just for all you can eat of the fried section. The interior decor was also quite stylish. The only way I could really describe it would be that it was an "in" or popular design. This is a great place to go for almost all occasions. I would definitely recommend that if you were to go, to go in a group. This is a really good place to spend a free night and I think that everyone would like it, although from a value standpoint I would recommend if you were to go with people that you know would eat a lot. One time I went with my mother and a few of her friends from overseas and their kids. They hardly ate anything although they did have a good go at it in the beginning.

I have been wanting to go to this place for awhile now and was lucky enough to be treated to their Saturday buffet for my birthday last week. Our booking was for 7.30pm, we arrived just on time and the place was full. Very cute from the outside and the inside was even cuter love how it's a cozy little restaurant with friendly staff. Our lovely waitress had asked if it was our first time and explained that they would bring out a sashimi platter and once that was done they would prepare the shabushabu and we were welcome to the buffet. The sashimi platter was delicious everything was perfect. We did not make much use of the shabushabu as we were more interested in all the sushi and sashimi and tempura at the buffet. Prawn tempura was light and tasty as well as the octopus. I would love yo go back again and just go straight from sashimi to buffet. The dessert was sufficient with macaroons and brownies as well as toppings for the vanilla soft serve and the chocolate vegan soft serve which I loved with a slight sour taste.
Donna
There was a wide selection of hot dishes and sushi; they even had a small hotpot selection. But for their price, I think it was just missing a few more selections. If you’re not a huge sashimi eater like me maybe its best to stay clear.
Oomm
It is just ok. We really like their salad.
There are not many things for hot pot. We only had a taste. Too many simple and normal vegetables. The other places have more varieties.
Tempura food is ok. But the chicken katsu is really bad. We can taste the oil.
Sushi part is ok. For the tuna sushi, they may add more mayo inside. It is a little bit dry.
Asianfoodratedbyasian
The place is a japanese buffet owned by koreans. They have medium/high quality food in general.
The sashimi and sushi are served as mini's however, approximately half the size of my thumb. Because of this the seafood experience was quite disappointing. The hot foods and tempura are also nice. There was however no tonkatsu or equivalent sauce to cut out the grease of the foods.
The service was very good and the staff did everything to please us.

Food: 7/10
Service: 9/10
Ambience: 8/10
Value for money: 5/10

Not usually a fan of buffets, but decided to try this place out as the online reviews and YouTube videos looked pretty good. Glad we came because the food was great. The moment you sit down, they serve you a platter with a variety of really fresh sushi (maki, nigiri & sashimi) and beef tataki, which we really enjoyed. At first glance, it didn’t look like there was much food at the buffet stations, but that’s because they use small platters that constantly get refilled with freshly cooked food, rather than a huge platter of pre-cooked crap. Didn’t get to taste all the food as we were just too full to try it all, but the prawn tempura, chicken karaage, croquettes, etc were all proper. Glad they serve Dashi rather than soy or tonkatsu sauce for tempura. “Japanese” restaurants that don’t serve dashi sauce with their tempura make me laugh - there are a number of those here in Auckland. The best thing about this place, however, was the service. They value their customers and know how to treat them right, which unfortunately is very rare here in NZ. There was an issue with the booking which resulted in us not getting sat at a table immediately, but to make up for it, we were served complementary glasses of wine, edamame and lotus chips, and the staff were very attentive and kept asking if we wanted more. Minutes later, when it didn’t look like people were going to finish soon, Shiori Asada , the duty manager who was exceptionally good at her job and clearly understood PR (along with Rex Chang, who I am told is the head chef/operator who greeted us at the door), offered vouchers in addition to our complementary drinks AND complementary dinner for the night. Honestly, we were blown away by how they handled it all and are grateful they did everything they could to not ruin our night. Furthermore, they didn’t scrimp on drinks the whole night and were constantly asking if we wanted more, despite it being comped. I’ve experienced this level of customer service in the US and Japan, but never in NZ until now. Yes, I’m aware it’s not usually feasible for most restaurants in NZ to do this sort of PR troubleshooting given our market is much smaller than the US, but it does show you how the business values its customers and will pull out all the stops to make you happy. I will go here again and again because the food is great and the staff are exceptional.
Friendly service and very efficient! They had a range of selection from the buffet from sashimi to bite sized onigiris. Soooo amazed by the amount of food they had. It's definitely what I call a very satisfying and well worth experience. Decent price for the quality of food as well. Was not disappointed.

I was completely ill treated the last time I was at this restaurant. Unfortunately Asians have a preference when they sit down. As informed on the website, I made my reservation and arrived 10 minutes in advance of the place. Incredibly, I was the last to be seated. The order of arrival was not respected. Asians who came to the place had a preference. I was extremely embarrassed, and on inquiring the clerk on the spot, the same clumsily pushed one of my colleagues, and improvised a nasty table for us to sit down. When reporting that we would not stay, because the situation was unacceptable, he turned his back and left, without the least education. A restaurant that does not value diversity, disrespecting its customers in a way that I have never witnessed in Auckland.

Okay for what you pay for. Nothing more nothing less! Wish they had some sauce for all that oily food they had lol like donkastu sauce but unfortunately they don't (or maybe I'm just being too Korean) but overall sushi is super yammy and they make it small so you can try different ones

You pretty much must make a booking to have dinner at this place. We were warmly welcomed and seated and given a large platter of assorted sashimi. The sashimi was fresh which is a necessity.

Their main is a shabu shabu Japanese hot pot and then you pick the ingredients to go into there. We picked udon and beef and a few seafood balls.

The buffet also consists of torched salmon nigiri, salmon nigiri and an assortment of sushi. There’s also spring rolls and gyoza. The highlight of this buffet is definitely the salmon.

There’s also a vegan chocolate soft serve too which doesn’t taste vegan at all!

Overall if you eat salmon then it’s worth the $49.
When i want to have a quality sashimi a lot, i come here. good to have a sashimi buffet. Other side dishes are great as well. Love to go if i have a big tummy :)
Gordon Geko
Good service and high quality food for a buffet - full of fresh fish (salmon, tuna, kingfish) and teriyaki chicken/ sushi. Had good quality soft serve for dessert and environment was nice and clean
Akym
Not a huge variety of food but if you like sushi and sashimi this place is not bad, especially considering how much they charge compared to other buffets. The platters they serve to each table are very nice. They don’t have much desserts though and whatever they have is usually not that nice.
David Nepia
What a great experience.

The food tasted as good as it looked.

Very friendly service given how busy they were.

Warm family ambiance.

Look forward to our next visit.

I went to this restaurant on my lunch break so I wanted something fast and ready to go but I found out that the sushi selection is limited.
Although the food was good I reckon more options would be a good improvement.
1) Too Expensive and Less Food Selection
2) Poor Service
A GOOD buffet restaurant is supposed to FILL food BEFORE the plate gone empty. It is very RUDE to clean the table or turn off lights BEFORE guest leave. Very tiny food and no much selection. My first time to Haru no Yume and I definitely will not come again .

The dinner starts off with being served a plate of various sashimi and sides, which is pleasant. However, that will be the only highlight of your meal. There is very limited selection of dishes available at this buffet. It mainly consists of fried food, steamboat, and sashimi. For the price of $49 it is lacking variety and excitement. The taste of the food is average and basic. The restaurant is slightly over rated. Overall it provides an average experience.
Ashley Liu
It’s average, only thin sliced beef as meat for shabu shabu very small selection. The sashimi could have been fresher... especially the tuna sashimi was definitely waste of my stomach space. However I suppose they’re only charging $50 pp. wouldn’t mind to pay more for more options and quality.
LisaH
I am a bit disappointed by its buffet food selection. I visited this restaurant a few years ago and it was much better. Went there again just now and it was totally changed. Not much food selection, taste is average, the green tea icecream is like vanilla ice cream with a bit of green coloring, no green tea taste at all :( . Usually Japanese restaurants have very rich and delicious green tea icecream, but not this one! The hot pot only has 2 sauces to choose from, not sure it is traditional Japanese way of hot pot? Also only a few pieces of salmon sashimi for the whole table. Hope they can improve next time. It is not worth this price.
Victoria Jenner
This place is great if you love sushi and Japanese sides like takoyaki. All you can eat but they start by bringing you entree of sashimi and karage to your table. Great service. Hot pot option as well. Not a lot of actually hot meal options besides fried stuff. Matcha soft serve = super yummy.

Had a lovely lunch here today. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. We were greeted and welcomed as soon as we entered, despite the place being pretty busy (lunch-time rush).

Once seated the staff were happy to take us through the menu items. I ordered a soy chicken salad. It was beautiful fresh, and so delicately presented. Tasted wonderful.

I would recommend.
Daniel Yep
Came here on a Tuesday evening with a workmate, we were greeted as soon as we arrived by the young waitress. She explained how we receive an entree first and then we are free to go and have all-you-can-eat buffet, and also explained about the hot pot. The entree was delicious, especially the karaage chicken. Both the young waitress and the waiter were very friendly and their brilliant customer service made us feel extremely satisfied, clearing our dirty dishes fast and making sure we are enjoying our visit. The food from the buffet was very good the sashimi was by far the best! The ramen noodles and shabushabu that needed to be cooked in the hot pot was also very great. The fried food and the rest of the food that needed to be cooked was tasty, and I enjoyed their sushi and sashimi rice balls. Overall I have to admire the food. The ice cream for dessert (vanilla and green tea flavoured) was very refreshing and I also enjoyed the jelly-fruit like fruit salad (not sure what it was called but it tasted a bit like pineapple and jelly and was in a small container/cup).
Definitely the best place to go if you love sashimi/sushi and have an empty stomach! I went from very hungry to very full, well worth the $49 for the all-you-can-eat. The customer service was extremely satisfying and when we had finished the young waitress was so delighted we enjoyed our time to the fullest and I would be definitely extremely happy to come back. Must be a 6 out of 5 :) :)

Wanted to make a reservation for 14 adults and 4 toddlers for Saturday evening since the restaurant is really busy. The lady who took the called offered us 2 tables and we were asked to squeeze in which is okay.

But then when we asked for extra chairs to place our portable high chairs on (she said they don’t have enough high chairs in the restaurant), she said that we will have to be charged for $49 dollars per chair?! Excuse me? $49 per chair for all 17 months toddlers?
Simon Liang
Very bad experience trying to make a reservation for 14 adults and 4 toddlers. They offer 2 table which sits 14 people and squeezes the 4 toddlers in, which is perfectly fine. But here's the good part, they refuse to give us extra chairs so we can place our portable high chairs on (since they don't have enough high chairs in the restaurant) so our babies can sit. They demanded that if we want extra chairs we will be charged the full price $49 for each chair (which is for toddlers one and a half years old).
Sharon Louie
Came here for a buffet dinner on a Saturday night. It was pretty busy at the time. They give you a sashimi platter and some fried chicken as your entrée (both were very delicious. Sashimi was fresh.) The buffet had a variety of hot food and sushi/sashimi. You may also use the hotpot as they provide beef. Dessert was good too, both mum and I really enjoyed the frozen jelly (I think that’s what it is.) Service was generally good. I would come back again.

Great value for money and the decor is cool. Wait staff provide excellent table service and are always polite and happy to help. Quality of food is top notch however it could do with a bit more variety. Have been multiple times with different dinner guests and the feedback has always been positive. Will always come back for more!

Took dad there for his birthday~ The food was good and tasty, although there wasn't alot of choices: unlimited sashimi, tempura, teriyaki chicken, sushi, beef shabushabu, vanilla ice cream. We only had 1 slice of beef tataki each on the entree platter, nothing in the buffet😭. The service was above and beyond what we expected, they even prepared a bithday cake for dad~ Very nice and relaxing setting~

The entre was good, They gave us sashimi and chicken which tasted good.
Shabu shabu is ok, beef was the only part i liked about it but there ws not much to put in it.
The buffet in general was ok, there was sushi, sashimi and fried foods.
For dessert, all of the jelly melted and ice cream was ok. Furthermore, i thought the staff was nice to move us to a bigger table but they just wanted to join table for more guest.
This place is great - a nice little spot with great little decorations that make you feel like you're in an authentic Japanese restaurant. Considering the amount of fish you get, it is a pretty fair price. The ambience is amazing & we felt so relaxed just eating and talking (I think the dim light made it really easy on the eye). The service was consistently lovely - we asked for so many things throughout the course of the hour and a half that we stayed and ate but not once did we receive any snark or annoyance by the server. If she was annoyed, she hid it incredibly well. It's a nice place for a date. The fish were creamy, albeit sliced thinly though that's not a drawback since it's an all you can eat. You get an array of different Japanese food &I honestly it's really well worth the 45$. I'd come back here.
Aimee.
Been here a few times now for the buffet. The portions (entree included into the buffet) was and the raw fish is super fresh and delicious. The presentation is so nice and the sashimi is displayed delicately. Staff are polite and great with answering questions and meeting needs (they made us a flavoured soju when we asked if it was possible). Great place and no time limit for the buffet. Matcha ice cream was amazing.

Read some great reviews of this place and I took a mate who is a huge Japanese food lover. Firstly I knew I wouldn't be able to get there till 8pm so when I made the booking, I asked if that was ok and they said it was no problem.

We got there on time and we were greeted with the starter tray and everything explained. The food was nice enough but sadly around 8.45 they started to slowly but surely pack up the buffet, so we had to rush and by about 9.15 everything was taken away.
I don't know what it is with these Korean run restaurants but it's like they have to be packed, cleaned and door shut by their closing times, they just can't for some reason stop service at that time and let customers run their course with a reasonable amount of time given of course. It's a restaurant, it relies on customers and having good customer service, people don't need to go there, they need people to go there. I really felt like it was a con coming to this place, especially since I asked if it was ok to turn up at that time.

Service and ambience is standard and that's what the 2.0 is for. I recommend giving it a try at an earlier time, I've made up my mind though and I won't be back.

Very limited choice, bad hot pot as well. Also lack of service .no one come to collect plate, take 20 mins to serve a sale. My god, you just need to pour them into a glass!

I used to often come here have dinner buffet
but i had terrible experience
it was on Monday night and there was only few tables include us. because this place isnt full, they dont bring out the food and some of the selection is just saying ran out. i think people who go there weekdays maybe get worse services than weekends customers? idk it was a dispointing night

Booked with a few friends for the buffet 7:30 sitting, we were warmly greeted upon arrival by a very friendly and funny manager, atmosphere was cosy and clean-also loved the decor. It was already quite busy but as we had come as a group he gave us a choice of a couple tables which I found thoughtful and ensured our comfort. Our waitress was very welcoming, friendly and very informative. We were served water almost immediately and given a drinks menu. The manager was also very attentive and advised us on the drinks menu. We tried the plum wine which we loved! The sushi and sashimi platters were super fresh, delicate and plentiful! The hotpot and buffet was delicious and had quite a variety, the dessert bar was well stocked and there was even a soft serve machine that I personally found awesome!😂 We left that night completely stuffed and satisfied with not only the fresh and delicious food but also the impeccable service from the lovely staff! Thank you again and cannot wait to visit again☺️👌🏽

The entree of karaage chicken and the sashimi platter was the highlight of tonight.
The chicken was tender and Crispy and the sauce was flavoursome. The assorted sashimi on the platter was fresh and presentation was also well-done.
The actual buffet itself was mediocre I felt; the hot pot was ok, though there wasn't a wide array to select from. Likewise with the sushi or tempura items.

Moreover, their desserts selection was a bit disappointing because there was only fruit and some flavoured slushie water with some orange bits in it; some biscuits and some soft serve from a machine. If there were more authentic Japanese desserts I think it would've closed the meal perfectly.

However the service was outstanding from start to finish; the girl who served us was very attentive and explained everything to us with a smile, thank you for that!

Price: 8/10
Food: 8/10
Ambience: 10/10
Service 10/10

I've been here twice.

It's a small little place that's always full at buffet time.

Pros: Fun with friends
The food is nice!
Pretty nice atmosphere
Great customer service
Hotpot
All you can eat

Cons: 49p/p is pretty expensive
The location is like wth
Dessert selection is pretty small, actually in general the selection is pretty small.

Can not call this Japanese buffet, sashimi only three options, not worth the money, should tell customer that the entry sashimi is only one time,or tell ppl the rules
Braden Hunt
The food itself was fairly decent, but the selection was hugely lacking. I expected a much wider variety of sushi and sashimi to be available, and more in the way of tempura and karrage. I'd go again if someone else was paying, but I'm not rushing back on my own dime.
Kirk Delamore
A beautiful night out! The food here is amazing! A great selection of fresh fish and Chicken Karaage to start, then a delicious choice of different sushi, salads and extras like takoyaki and tempura prawn are available from the buffet. The Hot pot option was also a great touch. Great price of only $49. Would definitely recommend to friends and will be back myself!
Carina Chang
I'd never noticed the shop when I passed by before. It literally is a hot spot. We booked and came earlier when there's no customer inside. However the whole restaurant was full of people just in 30mins. 3 kinds of sashimi, sashimi salad, sushi, fried udon, tempura, chicken Katsu, steamed egg, stir fried chicken, veggie salad, shabushabu food cabinet, dessert, ice cream, coffee, soup. Only one beef plate per table, I would more likely to call it Korean restaurant. The sauce was more Korean. And the staff are Korean.
Phoebenessity
I love this place. Unlimited sashimi and shabu-shabu and tempura and sushi and ice cream and desserts with chicken karaage on the side. The $50 buffet is worth it.
Rachel Hui
I am not sure if the food choices are worth the price you will pay for this place.

The food isn't amazing, certainly nothing memorable. It is not bad either, I'd say just above average.

This place will be for you if you feel like frozen fried food as the variety of sushi and sashimi isn't big.
Hester Gabrielle Colmar Pierard
Loved this place probably cos it's all you can eat sushimi which is my fav! Didn't think much of the steam boat that it comes with since the meat is so thin it cooks so fast then becomes dry but overall loved everything else. Friendly staff and buffet gets replaced quickly once everything is gone .

Went there on a Monday night, expecting fresh sashimi and plenty of delicious Japanese dishes, assuming that it would not be a busy night for them. However, we were served with a platter of sashimi that did not look fresh (especially the tuna - it was on the verge of turning brownish-red). The fried chicken was better - but still we were disappointed by the quality and quantity of sashimi. The number of options were also quite limited for the price of $49 per person.
Michael Hung
Went there on Saturday
night with two other friends, we booked the first round which starts at 5:30. They start by giving you a big plate of sashimi to share and they were very fresh and well arranged on the plate! Also a bowl of fried chicken pieces ( nice). The hot food section has prawn tempura(decent prawn size), potato cakes, takoyaki, steamed eggs in small cups, grilled fish, chicken Korean style? Cold dishes has sashimi, bite size sushi and some veges, hot pot food for guest to cook at their own table. Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience, will definitely go again with friends 😁
Bogdan Cluj
This place offers great food! Having to book in advance speaks about what's going on at Haru no Yume. I will definitely go back and totally recommend the buffet!
Damáris Granha
Food was generally good, but the service let it down. When we arrived they showed us our table and the first platter came, they also gave us the drinks menu. Soon later the waitress came and took the drinks menu away without giving us the chance to make our orders. The second entree platter (fried chicken) just came when we reminded them.
But the most disappointing part was that although on their website it said the kitchen closes at 9.30pm, it was 9pm when they started asking if we wanted anything extra from the buffet. We and a couple of other tables were still eating, not even in desert yet. We felt they were rushing us to leave, whereas you expect to have a fulfilling experience when you pay that much per person.
Sharan Dhanala
It was one of the yummiest Japanese I had in Auckland city. The place is cosy and the staff were friendly and patient. The restaurant is busy as during lunch, I would recommend you to plan lunch before12pm or after 1pm.
Samantha Young
Came here for a surprise birthday dinner for my partner. We love Japanese, so why not try an All You Can Eat Buffet full of Japanese food!?! We arrived 30mins early to our 7pm reservation but were still seated. Restaurant wasn't too busy when we arrived. Immediately were served the entree platter of fresh sashimi, sushi etc and boy was it fresh! Very good start to the night! Staff were lovely and very polite! Buffet food was good but was more focused on cooking food in the Hot pot/shabushabu they give you along with a plate of raw meat you cook yourself. You help yourself to raw vegetables you'll cook in the pot as well. There's also a selection of sushi and deep fried items. It's a good experience and a definite must-try but I'll admit that I don't think I would go back anytime soon (my partner disagreeing). For the amount we ate and I guess the selection, I think it should be slightly cheaper than $49 pp. It's a cute place with a clear view of the sky tower.

This should be the worst experience Iv ever had in Auckland.
Here the thing, I made the booking for THREE people in advance for Saturday night, well, I think Im old enough to know what's the different between TWO and THREE, however, when I got there this Saturday, the waiter told me I was book for TWO people, I tried to tell him that's impossible cause at the very beginning there were three people coming, it's not like Suddenly I wanna add one more people, but the waiter just keep saying “NO!” to me every time I try to explain that's impossible.
yeah, Can u believe? It's not like “maybe there are some misunderstanding...” He just keeping say“No!”to me.....and he did nothing to solve this problem just keep watching me...
so I asked him Can I add one more chair there to make It three, he showed me how small the table is, and just keep telling me he Can do nothing.
I was so annoying by this negative attitude, so I asked him “ so u mean there is nothing u can do and I should just leave? ” and the waiter just pointed to one of the waitress and told me that's the girl to took my booking. Okay, all I Can do was phone my friends not come, they drive soooo far to come to city cause I recommend this restaurant, I feel guilty about this.
And annoying, so I went back and told the waiter I need to talk with the duty manager, and the most amazing part is he told me he is the duty manager.
It is unbelievable that someone who showed no sympathy and didnt try to do anything to solve the customer's problem is a duty manager.
He should be Shame about his negative working attitude.
Never go there again and I will tell all my friends not to.
And wish u guys would have a good business.

Good food, interesting menu, good service, wonderful dining area. Great for a social get-together. Decently priced and reasonable wait time on food, despite how consistently busy the place tends to be.
Jessica Ajami
Cosy place in the city.

Offers : all you can eat for 49$. All you can eat sushi, sashimi, appetizers like tempura, pops, salad, miso. Also included in the offer an assorted plated of sashimi and sushi to share per table along with 2 side beef tataki and kaarage chiken. You will also be served a hot pot with sliced meat to cook. There are frozen vegetables, dumplings and fish that you can cook in that pot.

The initial platter to be honest was really fresh and tasty. The sashimi and sushi was replenished quickly in the buffet. We went out of the restaurant stuffed.

Service: Very helpful and attentive

Overall, cosy place nice to hang out both with a group of friends or with a date.

This is a stunning place, great ambiance, awesome staff and truly excellent food. Nothing was a problem, questions were answered by knowledgeable and friendly staff . Food wS fresh tasty and well presented and there was no pressure to finish and leave. The owner even took the time to shake hands and chatted when we left

After seeing countless sponsored posts for their 'all you can eat buffet' on Facebook, friends and I settled on coming here for our girls night.

A friend booked a table for us in advance & we were due to arrive for a 7:30pm - 9:30pm session. However we received a phone call asking us to coming in earlier for a 5:30pm - 7:30pm session instead.

Upon entry, the restaurant is open with minimalistic decor. It was extremely busy & took a while to get the attention of staff, however once we got the attention of one, we were serviced really well throughout the night.

For $49/pp, we received a starter platter that consisted of various sashimi, sushi, beef tataki and kaarage chicken. They also give you hot pot/shabu-shabu with sliced meat whenever you're ready for it. We opted to have it after trialling the 'all you can eat' on offer.

I feel that the buffet didn't have as many options as I imagined. Not everything you received on the platter is available in the buffet however there were other options (eg salad, soba noodles, eel, steamed egg, crab etc) for you to choose from but they didn't refill the sashimi, nigiri as often as the sushi. They also have a section for deep fried foods like takoyaki, croquettes, tempura battered shrimp etc.

Food wise, I feel the platter was the best part - the food tasted a lot fresher and there were more options to choose from. Whilst the croquettes and sushi tasted great, they're extremely filling and not worth spending $49 on. I tried the sashimi & nigiri and was pleasantly surprised how fresh it tasted, but I only managed to get 1 round of it as they didn't refill it very much throughout the 2 hours I was there. The crab tasted over cooked and rubbery, as though it had been there for a while so would not recommend.

The hot pot part was good, especially since they seated us near the door and in complete contact of the incoming wind flow.

I was happy with the service of this restaurant, however I would've appreciated refilling the more 'expensive' food items. I noticed they continuously refilled the fried area more often, even though there wasn't a lot of traffic flow in that area. Staff were attentive and cleared plates continuously throughout the meal.

Dessert section was a favourite for my friends, they enjoyed doing a 'DIY sundae' whereas I like the fresh fruit they had! The little jelly thing they offer tastes way too sweet, so would not recommend unless you have a big sweet tooth.

Probably would not come again as $49/pp doesn't seem worth it when I end up having to fill up on fried foods/hot pot when I can find a cheaper alternative. It's definitely worth a try once though, and the platter looks good for the gram.

Came here with a friend on a Friday night and we walked out happy + stuffed at the end of our buffet dinner. There was a rich variety of food to enjoy, and we found their service to be super friendly.

When you first get settled in, you’re given a platter of sashimi + sushi to start with – plus a bowl of fried chicken pieces (which was AMAZING).

Although you can technically help yourself to the buffet food at anytime, we decided to go with the ‘suggested' flow and do our hotpot in the second phase of dinner. They provide you with thin cuts of frozen beef and you can get your choice of veges + fishballs + noodles etc from the chilled section while the broth’s boiling.

After the hotpot, we were getting pretty full but the fried food look too good to pass up…! I loved having access to unlimited takoyaki, prawn tempura, and croquettes. While these items were by no means bad, the buffet setup means that they need to be produced en-masse so don’t expect a high level of craft for this section of food.

It was only at this stage that I realised there were still other food areas I hadn’t discovered – the sashimi salad, sushi bar, fruit section, and the ice cream machine. While the amount of variety is good, the layout was a bit annoying as the food stations felt scattered and inconvenient to get to.

A more obvious frustration was that our little square tables were too small for all our plates (especially when the hotpot was there). They also don’t provide you with enough tongs to keep raw meat and vegetables separate. So to the staff at Haru no Yume – please think about the customer experience; put yourself in our shoes to see how things could be more convenient and enjoyable. :)

Overall I had a good time and have been heartily recommending it to friends. But because of the price, it's somewhere that I would probably reserve for a special occasion.

Was so excited to try this buffet with my partner , the staff were very friendly and helpful, was nice to be seated with a platter then following with a hot pot . But sadly was dissapointed by the food the sashimi did not taste fresh at all..
Ivie
Amazing japanese sashimi. Got given a platter of sashimi and plate of fried chicken . Need to find the recipe for the fried chicken >_< . Got given shabbu shabbu . Buffet style as much as you want seafood >_

Really enjoyed my meal here tonight. Staff were super friendly and helpful with any questions you had about the buffet. Lots of variety and super busy. Definitely recommend booking before you go tho so secure your table.

I really enjoyed myself here. I loved the dining space and the decor. The fairy lights were a nice touch.

The sashimi platter was beautifully presented and was quite generous. There was an array of different types of fresh fish which was lovely.

The dessert section was small but were of good quality. I liked how they had at least one item on their dessert menu that they made. That was the best part of the dessert selection.

Service was friendly

great decor and lovely atmosphere
the place is very clean and organised
having dinner with three other mates and cost $40 each
will come back for family weekend

Visited Haru no Yume for a birthday event and we were welcomed by friendly staff. As soon as you walk in, you will see an assortment of different foods which includes, salads, soba noodles, sashimi, sushi, fried foods (tempura style) and sweets.

Once we were seated, the sashimi/sushi platter came. It had a good selection of choices, followed by beef tataki, fried chicken and the shabu shabu pot. These dishes alone filled us up however we wanted to check out the other buffet dishes as well.

The staff cleared our empty buffet plates a few times but no one brought us water or glasses (I asked later and it was self service).

Overall a nice experience, good place to fill up if you're hungry! $49pp
Enjoyed the platter that was given to us upon arrival. The buffet had a variety of salads and fried foods. Place was busy. I felt the flavours were just not really there, I have had better food. I guess fried food just sitting there never tastes fresh enough.

I am a routine customer of this buffet place.

Love the hot choices in the buffet, mini hotpot is also tasty. Very friendly service.

If you don't mind this Japanese place is operated by Koreans, definitely have a try.

Could be better if more choices could be added to the buffet.

I hadn't really had Japanese before I visited this place. Tried the shashmi buffet and liked it a lot. Could make out that the meal was prepared in the authentic Japanese style. It was fresh and delicious. The place had a great ambience and the staff provided some great timely service

Dined here for the Japanese buffet!

Great selection of sashimi, however I found the buffet lacking in raw meats and veges like in hotpot options you can find elsewhere. The raw beef on offer was very thin and very lean, lacking in fatties. Chicken kaarage was delicious and moist inside with crispy outer. Sashimi was very fresh, lovely decently fatty salmon! Yum!

I found the hotpot soup was lacking in a lot of flavour, and a little to shallow to boil your goods in ~

Staff are very friendly and attentive, definitely recommend getting a booking to secure a seat as it gets very busy! Very authentic feel of Japan when you walk in with dazzling fairy lights all around. If they had better food variety for hotpot then yes I'll be back, but for now it's not on the top of list to revisit any time soon.

Japanese buffet and hotpot shabu shabu style restaurant

For 49$ pp for adults (no menu to order food separately from buffet), you get:

- As a starter you get a dish of fried chicken and a platter of sashimi and sushi pieces; it comes out as soon as you sit down all prepped. Found the chicken a bit luke warm and not crispy and the sashimi pieces much the same, a bit soft and bland.
- Cold sashimi and nigiri all you can eat, about 4-5 types and a salad option also
- 4-5 deep fried food types
- 5-6 veges and dumplings etc to put in shabu shabu
- You get a plate of shaved beef for the hotpot, decent portions
- Dessert and soups/noodles options

Downside is not enough dipping sauces to choose from so the taste becomes pretty bland after a while.

Although suitable for jap food loves who enjoy the option of buffet, quality and range doesnt justify price.

3.5 Yums
Went to this Restuarant for a special meal with my partner, food was good, presentation of the food Nx resturant was also good. i was only slightly disappointed with the cost of the drinks and the table was a little small. Definitely worth a try

AMAZING!! Haru no Yume is a must see if you love your sashimi and if you love all you can eat buffet!! Customer service is exceptional. We were warmly welcomed on a busy Saturday night (highly recommend booking as this place fills up super fast!) upon taking our seat we were given instruction on how everything works and where we could find everything. We were then brought a large platter of sashimi, sushi and karage chicken as an entrée. Don't feel sad when you eat everything on the plate, as everything you find on the plate is refillable. We were then told how Shabu-Shabu works (I won't explain as the lovely waitress will do this for you). When you go to Haru no Yume, I recommend going with an open mind to trying everything. At $49 p.p it is worth every cent. Beautiful decor with nice mood lighting. They are very efficient with refilling their food stations and removing dirty dishes. Always coming over to see how everything is going and making sure we had everything we needed. Can't wait to go again and take more friends! No complaints 👍🏼

Excellent Japanese buffet restaurant offering a wide range of good quality food. For entree you get a huge platter that comes with fresh sashimi, sushi and other bits and bobs. Along with that you also get a dish of karaage chicken. The sashimi is extremely fresh. Can't wait to come back again!

This is a hidden gem. I did not know of its existence until a colleague took me here.
The sushi is probably the best I have had in Auckland. I especially love the charred salmon nigiri. The rice is cooked perfectly. I haven't tried any items from their menu yet. The sushi is pricier than the likes of other takeaway sushi, but the quality is much superior and is definitely worth it. I would be very curious to try their buffet which the do for dinner for $49.

Came in on Tuesday and it was packed!

Welcomed and seated straight away by their lovely staff. The massive Sashimi Platter was amazing, followed by crispy chicken and beef tataki (which we ordered as a side). We were full by this point, so opted to sink a few sakes before the shabu-shabu and all you can eat menu.

Seriously good food and service.
Jessica Callistus
I literally do not have a complaint about this place which is why I have given it a 5.

Me and Bobby Agaimalo were greeted and seated straight away and the lady was super nice and smiley. She then handed us our entree of a massive sashimi dish and chicken kaarage (some items in here were not refillable which was fine) and then explained to us how the process worked.

The food here is absolutely beautiful and I really hope over the years they are open that the quality and quantity does not change. The sashimi portions were really generous and all the pieces were cut thick and was really cold and fresh. The sushi portions was also really good with 70% of it being the item and 30% rice. Most buffets will normally try and make you full quicker by feeding you with carbs and less of the 'good stuff'. several ladies also would ask us if we were okay and needed anything and always kept our tables tidy by clearing unused plates.

The steamboat was also one of my favourite parts about the night. A lot of variety in what to put in your pot and the meat given was really generous that we didn't end up finishing it. (The beef meat was not unlimited and in the buffet, instead they will give you a plate of it)

I stayed away from most of the fried food and stuck mostly to the sushi and steamboat, but I did try the chicken egg katsu and gyoza and both were delicious.

The best part to end it all is with their soft serve machine! It's a great addition to the restaurant.

The only down part that isn't worth lowering points for is the start packing up around 8.30 - 9pm which was a bit early for us but maybe it was because we came in the weekday? Might be different on the weekend..

Overall a great experience from start to finish!

Ambience - 9/10
Food - 10/10
Customer service - 10/10
Chances of returning - 110%

Would have put a higher rating if I was a sashimi lover. There is a limited range of foods for the price (about $49 per person for buffet) but their sashimi is fresh and of good quality. Buffet would be a good choice if you are there for the sashimi.

What a great little Japanese restaurant that serves authentic high quality Japanese food.

As sashimi lovers, we were so exited when our meals were served. The salmon was thickly cut and its the prefect proportion of the fat and the meat. That only means it comes form a very good and fresh cut of...

We went here to celebrate my mum's birthday. We were very pleased with the food and the service and totally thought everything was worth the $49 per head price. Our servers were really attentive and kept coming back to ask if we needed anything else -- refill on the meat for shabushabu or the soup, etc. We definitely loved our experience and we will be back for sure. Kids loved the ice cream! :) highly recommend the place. :)

I can't wait to come back. Service was great and the food was awesome. All you can eat sashimi and tempura (plus the other yummy dishes) for $39 is fantastic value. I'd highly recommend this place.

Reasonable price for a sushi buffet. They have more than just sushi, you can find tempura, soba and shabu shabu. If you want to pig out on some sashimi and good sushi, this is the place to go. However their desert menu is not my favourite.Their desert selection is a bit dull. I feel as though it could improve. Over all, if you are here for the sushi, it is worth your money.

If you a fan of Japanese food put this restaurant on your must try bucket list...with most restaurants charging a premium for the sashimi product, entry fee of $39 here represent value here as it is a buffet, along side sashimi they offer sushi and tempura(my fav) and a bonus here they give you a starter of beef tataki and chicken karage on arrival....tasty Japanese food on offer here....

Menu keeps changing..or should I say setting of the foods.
When I first went about 2 years ago food was fabulous and very authentic Japanese
Now days it seems more like fusion
When you first arrive they give you a sashimi platter with some sushi, beef and karage chicken which was the best foods of the night!
Then there is a buffet from all you can eat sashimi, sushi, nigiri, buckwheat noodles and donkatsu, okonomiyaki balls and so on
Their dessert range was poor however. A soft serve machine, 3 fruits and some biscuits. I guess for 39 you can't ask for much but an addition of a cake or brownie would be lovely.
Food was good for 39pp but it was all very salty...when I got home I had to drink like 3 cups of water.
For 39, I believe that the food you get is good and you can definitely eat your worth as some say 😊
Service was also good. The man there was super friendly and attentive. The waitresses were rather very awkward and not as friendly...
Parking is right in front but is a bit of a pain as it is a one way road. I suggest busing as Victoria Park is literally 2 minutes walk from it
I'm personally not a fan of over eating so I wouldn't come back for a buffet but if you're a big eater and you love Japanese this place is worth a visit !
Their interior and atmosphere was fab

Visited this Japanese buffet restaurant for the first time around 3years ago. Took lots of photos with my previous smart phone before. All food materials are fresh and yummy. $39.00 pp is also reasonable price there.

Three of us visited Haruno Yume for dinner last night. I’ve been in this area a fair bit never noticed this restaurant right beside Victoria Park Market.

We had a booking for 6pm which is when they open so they were nice and quiet though they filled up during our visit. The buffet tables were full of fresh food and pristine, and in my opinion, opening is the best time to visit a buffet. I have to admit, I was super excited about the idea of a sashimi buffet, maybe a little TOO excited.

The decor is modern Japanese with typical dark wood furnishings, delicate fairy lights and room dividers to give a little privacy, although you can see what your neighbours are doing, which in our case was very useful. There are 5 parts to the meal. Starters, sushi/sashimi buffet, cooked food buffet, hot pot buffet (with sliced beef) and dessert buffet.

To start, they bring a few non-refillable dishes to your table to share. Beef tataki, prawn sushi, karaage chicken and an assortment of fresh sashimi. These were delicious. The karaage chicken was unusual and 2 out of 3 of us loved it. The tataki was really good, but there was only enough for 1 slice each. The sashimi was tuna, salmon and kingfish and very fresh. Sashimi also appears in the buffet.

After we polished off the starters, we set upon the buffet. There is plenty of sashimi and sushi options. This is a great place for sashimi lovers! During our visit I never once saw the sashimi buffet empty. The salmon was fatty, creamy and fresh and there were a couple of other sashimi options there too. There was a chopped raw fish and chilli dish that looked a bit like Hawaiian poke and was really good mixed with a bit of extra soy sauce. My favourite was the smokey grilled salmon nigiri. Melt-in-your mouth with a wonderful smokey flavour. Cold soba noodles came in small portions which is is perfect for a buffet. Add their yummy sauce on top and slurp away to your hearts content. The tempura was delicious pick out your choice of prawn or vegetables.

The most unusual item was probably the raw crab which was slathered in a fermented chilli paste. The chilli had quite a kick and was messy to eat. Raw crab won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but if you work at it, you’ll be rewarded with sweet raw crab meat. A real treat.

There is a hot pot cooker on each table and when you’re ready, let the staff know and they will turn it on for you and bring out a plate of sliced beef (not all you can eat). This is goes with the most delicious ponzu sauce I have ever tasted. Just put the beef into the hot pot and take it out when the colour changes from red to brown. Seriously, when my friend and I both tasted the beef dipped in the wonderfully citrus sauce, we moaned with delight. In unison. It was a little embarrassing. Supplement the beef slices with your choice of vegetables, dumplings, noodles and surimi from the hot pot section of the buffet. The broth is really delicious so if you like, you can have a bowl of broth with your hot pot morsels.

There is a small hot foods section which includes things like katsu and takoyaki but I didn’t get to try them as I was too busy with the cold section. There was much more food than I could hope to try, though we tried everything on the sushi/sashimi side of the buffet. Self restraint is really hard here so come ready to eat.

The dessert section is small but by then you probably only want something light. Make sure you finish off with a soft serve ice cream. The owner used to own an ice cream truck and takes great pride in the ice cream here.

This place is great if you love sashimi and Japanese food in general. The staff were great and when a waitress realised we were new to this type of hot pot, she was super helpful and got us the delicious ponzu and showed us what to do. This hot pot is a little different from Chinese hot pot but has lots of similarities. Some parts of the experience can be confusing but just ask one of the friendly staff and they will set you right.

We spent close to 2 hours here and never felt like we should vacate. For the buffet and a beer or wine, we paid $50 each and got back change. $39pp for the buffet ($25 for kids under 10) is great value for the quality of food and lovely atmosphere. Looking forward to coming back!

This Japanese buffet is definitely impressive. However there are a few negative and positive points. Starting off with the negative, the buffet in my opinion was too dim and the music was very distracting, therefore it was hard to converse with my family and friends comfortably without getting distracted. Looking into the positives, the food was beautiful and the service was wonderful. The tempura and sashimi I was craving was so satisfactory, although I got full very quickly. The ice cream machine and fresh fruit was perfect, and overall I enjoyed the experience.

Haru no Yume is a buffet restaurant in Freemans Bay, and for $39 per person for dinner, it's a great price considering how quickly sashimi platters can add up at a la carte restaurants. It would be nice if they explained or asked if we had been there before because we were seated and without any notice, the staff were bringing food to our table, then left us alone and rather confused as to how everything worked. To break it down, you get served a few dishes first (sashimi, karaage chicken, beef tataki, and a plate of shaved beef slices for hotpot) which are not refillable/ part of the self serve station.

The buffet is split into two parts- one that contains sashimi, dessert etc, and the other part is for the hot pot which is why there is also a portable gas stove on your table too. The table does get really crowded since the gas stove took up half the table space, so a bit of tetris skill comes in handy.

The variety here is great, there's salads, sashimi, tempura prawns, takoyaki etc and the quality is high unlike stodgy buffets you often encounter. The sashimi does tend to get emptied fast by other diners so I recommend coming on a weekday/ quiet night so you don't have to fight for those. There's even a soft serve machine for dessert which you can garnish with sprinkles which was extremely fun to do!

This place is a little gem. We went for dinner on a Saturday night and had a great experience. We were seated and served as soon as we arrived. They have a good range of good quality food and very well priced. The service was great.Thank you for an excellent experience. I will definitely return

Came here tonight with my friends, we were seated immediately as we booked earlier. The food was great, fresh fish sashimi, prawn tempura, manundifferent type of vege for shabu shabu, lean beef. The service was great and our plates was cleared occasionally overall this place was amazing and would definitely come back! Joli Wong

High quality buffet with fresh salmon and lean shabushabu beef. The beef tataki and chicken karaage are all enjoyable and i like that they bring you these dishes. I enjoy the seared salmon the most but they are quite slow in refilling more sashimi, sushi and seared salmon sushi. However, The tempura is always refilled quickly and no one can say no to soft serve :) , right Helen Liang ?

If you love sashimi and "shabu shabu" then you will LOVE this place as much as I did!

They start you off with a few plates of entrees such as fried chicken, sashimi, and sushi. They also give u a burner and a pot of broth with a plate of thinly sliced raw beef.
Then basically you just adventure out to the buffet tables and go wild.

There's a table full of veges, udons and other things you want to put in your broth. And there's another table for all the sashimis and cooked food. From tempuras, renkon chips, takoyaki and dumplings, they have them all.
Oh and did I mention they have a soft serve ice cream machine?

Service was great, they clear your dirty plates away and the food are refilled quickly. The only negative I can say about this place would be that they leave the fatty bits on the cuts of the sashimi which I didn't like and some of the less popular hot foods don't stay very hot since they don't change them as often. But that's just me nitpicking.

Would not hesitate to return. Highly recommend this place! :)

I have been here a few times now and took two of my friends to have dinner here one night. It was going well until around 7.45pm where one of their staff members told us that the "table was booked for 7.30pm".

First things first -
1. We got there just after 6pm (no reservation)
2. We were NOT notified of any reservations or bookings AFTER us or how long we were "allowed" to be there for
3. Why tell us that it's unavailable at 7.30pm when YOU TELL US AT 7.45pm??! Total BS.

YOU LYING SCUMS!!!!!!!

Just cos there was a family of 3 who literally walked in not along ago and had to wait, DOES NOT MEAN YOU CHOOSE A RANDOM TABLE AND MAKE UP A STUPID "REASON" FOR THEM TO LEAVE.

This place WAS a good sushi buffet place. But the owner (more than the staff working there) has BS morales!

NEVER RECOMMENDING THIS PLACE TO ANYONE EVER AGAIN AND NEVER COMING BACK -until there's a change of ownership.

The 1.0 rating was for the food. Otherwise it'd be a -1.0

The end.

Finally tried this place and we wet not disappointed! They start you off with a couple of platters, like a sample platter filled with sashimi and sushi plus two other plates of chicken and that lovely lovely eggplant dish!

The hot item was the salmon, tuna and King fish sashimi plate which disappeared quickly but got refilled quickly as well, you won't get disappointed! They also put a burner on the table, pot and broth and a generous serving of sliced beef. A table with veggies and some dumpling to compliment all that ! very good!

If you like sushi and tempura, you won't get disappointed, plenty of those. Few Japanese beers available, sake and wine list. My boys capped it off with an ice cream dessert, all you want!

Lovely place.

Pretty good food and great customer service.
The decor is lovely with many Japanese beer and wine bottles neatly placed.

Perhaps the selection was a bit lacking, and it is definitely on the pricey side.
Overall a decent place to try if you feel like spoiling yourself.

Food: 7.5/10
Service: 4.5/5
Ambience: 4.5/5
Value: 2.5/5
Overall: 19/25

The dinner buffet here is great - there aren't many places where you can get unlimited fresh sashimi and sushi for a very reasonable price. They refill pretty fast so you won't be disappointed. I love the hot foods that you cook on your table, like udon noodles and bbq meats, as this adds an interesting dimension to the buffet. They also have the other usual Japanese foods like takoyaki, karaage chicken, katsu, renkon chips, soba, etc. The only limitation is that you get given your serving of tempura and can't get any more. The dessert selection is small but there was no room left in my tummy for dessert anyway! Awesome buffet, definitely a good value.

Great lunch at Haru No Yume.

The sushi buffet is clean tasty and fresh.

Its great that you can have a huge variety for lunch.

Nice part of town too.

Haru no yume is the best in town Japanese cuisine buffet.
It has a wide variety of Japanese food available for you to have as much as you can. I was a frequent at this place before but after falling in love with Eight at the Langham's buffet I had not visited this place for so long but I went there this week and it was FANTASTIC! They have a new head chef so menus has changed a bit!

First of all, they are having this winter special of unlimited Shabshabu which is Japanese hotpot. I personally love Japanese hot pot more than Chinese one because of its mild taste. They provided us with unlimited beef, veges, seafood balls, noodles, etc for hot pot and there are eggs as well for you to dip the meat or put into the soup. First you will get a plate of a lot of beef meat and the soup. You will boil the soup, bring some veges and cooked seafood and put them in first to make the soup more flavourful. When the soup starts to boil, you will then dip your meat piece for 10-15 secs to cook it lightly and there you go! This is how you eat japanese hotpot. There are sauces available such as soy sauce, yuzu ponzu and hot sauce. My personal way for dipping sauce is to add soy sauce to yuzu ponzu and break a raw egg in a separate bowl whip it until its all mixed. I dip the meat in the sauce first then in the egg to eat! The staff there are very lovely and kind. They will show you how to eat it if you ask them!

Their sushi and sashimi are very fresh, delicious and "unlimited". There is a lot of different food available for you to choose and try such as salad, takoyaki, grilled fish, rice, steamed egg, grilled salmon sushi, desserts and so on. Not only that but also when you get a table, they first serve you with french style beef tataki, a plate of sashimi and a roll of off the menu sushi as appetiser. But i kinda missed grilled meat which was replaced with hotpot.

So all these are included in the flat rate price, $39. Im pretty sure you cannot find a Japanese restaurant where you can have unlimited delicious and fresh dishes for this price.

I was so pleased with the service and food they provide me with. Definitely will visit again anytime soon.

Just had a fantastic dinner buffet here. Food was good and of high quality especially the sashimi and the prawn tempura. Service from the waitresses were top notch but the kitchen closes way too early. They started keeping everything away by 9pm.

Went to this place for lunch a couple of days ago with a group of work mates. The atmosphere was very relaxed and friendly. A wide range of lunch boxes and a very appetising looking smorgasbord was offer. I went for the vegetarian tempura which was one of the best that I have had. My colleagues went for various lunch boxes and these were said to be superb. The cafe was very busy with the smorgasbord doing a very brisk trade. I will certainly be going back.

If you want good atmosphere, GREAT food and AMAZING customer service, then Haru no Yume is for you. I have only gone for the buffet dinner which is available on Fridays and Saturdays. The sushi and sashimi is always very fresh with an interestingly good variety of different japanese dishes such as Udon, various tempura and yakisoba. The first plate of sashimi is served to you in a very well designed and organised dish and you can go to the main buffet bar for further servings of sashimi (the only setback is that refilling of sashimi can be slow during busy hours which can be annoying at times). Considering you get all you want sashimi, $39 is not a bad price for a good night out with great food. Have visited here numerous times and will do so in the future!

The spicy pork is AMAZING! My husband surprised me with a dinner here and it was very tasty and very romantic! He said he found the restaurant using the Offerbook app and booked a table for two. I was happy, because I love sushi and seafood, but he ordered the spicy pork, and when I tasted it, it was like heaven! You should definitely order it and try it!
Will recommend!

Friendly staff and great food. Went there for my friend's birthday and the quality of the sushi and sashimi was surprisingly good. Highly recommended for sushi lovers.

On a quiet side street in Freeman's Bay Haru no Yume restaurant aims to "provide a real touch of Japan". The name means Dream of Spring and their "dream is for our customers to fall in love with our food." It was fairly quiet when arrived on a Saturday evening, but a few other tables filled up while ate.

Super relaxing and friendly local Japanese restaurant. Always have great menu and sushi selection (go after 2pm for the $1 sushi offer), but I always either get the Spicy Chicken Karaage (one of the best in Auckland) with mayo, or the Gyudon, which is tender beef on a bed of rice with a raw egg yolk cracked on it... I quite like the interior, very soothing with multi levels and hanging curtains!

A friend and I came here for the $39 evening buffet on a Friday night. The service was super-friendly and the place was busy, including a large table of 10. It feels welcoming as soon as you walk in. The manager/owner brought me my drink and we had an interesting discussion about Japanese beer, and later on he was more than happy to explain to my friend how one of the dishes was prepared. The buffet had lots of fresh variety in the small dishes and unlike other reviewers' experiences I found that the sashimi was stocked regularly, maybe because of the large group. You can also order dishes that are heated on a little tabletop burner but the pork belly dish we ordered was a bit of fizzer because the fuel in the burner ran out before the pork (already fully cooked) was warmed through completely. I could've easily asked for more to be added but we were so engrossed in conversation that we just ate it anyway. The food quality was good. With the smaller dishes you do have to stop and take everything in because there is such a large variety and you have to work out what goes with what, and when there is a queue of hungry people behind you you have to let them go ahead of you or just quickly grab things. For example, I missed the jug of dipping sauce for the cold soba noodles the first time round. It would help if they labelled the items or either put the items that went together on the same tray or divided them off from other dishes. There was a separate table for hot items in chafing dishes. These hot dishes were very tasty as well but seemed to lack the visual flair of the small plates. However, it is hard to present things nicely in chafing dishes.
My only gripe about this place is that the buffet closes way too early. They started putting things away at 9.30pm and there were still a few tables there and even one table that had only come in about half an hour beforehand. I realise that it isn't economical to keep a buffet fully stocked when there are only a handful of tables there but they could've kept it open for a bit longer, especially on a Friday night. The problem my friend and I had was that we were too busy talking to go up to the buffet as often as we would have liked and we also completely missed out on dessert. We still got our money's worth and we didn't go away hungry. Yes, the too-busy-talking thing was our fault but we both agreed that they closed way too early.
If you come here come early and don't come here for a leisurely catchup with friends. I'm definitely keen to go back in order to do full justice to the buffet!

Food was not bad, mid range with some nice sashimi specials. Felt that the portions were a bit small. What was most disappointing was the atrocious service from the Korean owner himself. Seems to treat his own employees badly. Also heard that he hires based on ethnicity. put me off big time.

At first glance, Haru no Yume appears to be one of the dozens of standard mid-range Japanese restaurants populating Auckland. When we went to the Freemans Bay branch on a Saturday night, however, the place was packed to the brim, in stark contrast to the relatively quiet row of shops beside it. For good reason, too – there is an all-you-can-eat sashimi buffet served during the evenings, for $39 per person.

When we arrived, a waitress brought a nicely-decorated plate of sashimi to our table – salmon, tuna, and snapper(?), as well as a bowl of prawn tempura. The buffet table yielded a decent spread of appetizers (renkon chips, edamame, tofu, etc), cold soba noodles with dipping sauce, sukiyaki, and beef teppanyaki. There were also various types of sushi and sashimi.

Unfortunately, after the initial plate of sashimi, future consumption appeared to be down to luck of the draw – the relatively small sashimi board was frequently emptied by other buffet-goers, and wasn’t immediately restocked. Asking waitresses for more was a gamble, as the first waitress we asked merely suggested that we help ourselves from the sashimi board (which had been empty for the past 10 minutes), although another lovely waitress procured a plate of salmon sashimi for us. Between that and some not-so-discreet stalking of the sashimi area, we managed to satisfy our sashimi cravings for the next month or so. :)

What the place lacks in quantity, however, it makes up for in quality. Most of the food that we tried lived up to the standards of other mid-range a la carte Japanese restaurants, except that you could have as much as you wanted without breaking the bank. The beef teppanyaki was flavoursome and tender, the sashimi fresh and delicious, the appetizers moreish. Special mention is deserved by the grilled salmon sushi, which was better than most that I’ve tried – just lightly grilled to impart a smoky flavour, but preserving the raw texture. On the flip side, the desserts weren’t great, and hot green tea (typically a staple in Japanese dining) had to be ordered separately.

All in all, Haru no Yume is excellent value for money, as most buffets that offer dishes of similar quality are usually much more highly-priced. The staff are also generally helpful and friendly, though service can be a bit hit and miss.

We became a regular since the first visit.
We went there for $39 dinner buffet. It worth every single penny!

All the sushi are tasteful, I like the grilled salmon sushi the best! I wish they could serve this dish more often... and the yummy tempura! If you want to indulge yourself with sushi and tempura, don't spend $100s of dollars in other so-so Japanese restaurant because you are not getting any better sushi than Harunoyume anyway! and staffs are friendly too.

Have eaten here for lunch before and it was very nice. The dinner buffet however was fantastic.

Fresh sashimi, sushi, nigiri and more. All the Japanese entrees like lotus chips, beef tataki, ededame, miso eggplant are in cute single serve bowls.

Different salads and tempura is brought to your table. You can even have a Japanese hot pot if you wish. Hot coffee and tea is free and there is also fruit, biscuits and mochi for dessert.

$39 per person is definitely value for money. When I eat Japanese for 2 people in Ponsonby, Kingsland or Parnell the bills always runs at around $100-$110

Fantastic, definitely coming back

Very nice place with good quality authentic Japanese meal. Fresh sashimi although running out often that I didn't have a chance for more but other hot dishes were very attractive too and nicely presented. It is priced a bit high tho I thought. But the quality of the meal does justify it.

Food is fresh and tasty and you can tell that it's cooked with skill, it's not the cheapest if like us you like to order lots of small plates to share but the surroundings are really nice and the staff are friendly.
It's hidden down a side street and not the easiest to find but it is worth a visit if you like authentic Japanese food and service with a smile.

Our party of three were very impressed by the range of authentic, superb quality Japanese dishes at Haru No Yume.
The night we visited, there was a smorgasbord (or whatever the Japanese word for that is!) with a huge selection of beautifully prepared food, some large plates, but mostly delicate small dishes.
No sooner had the tasty sushi been consumed by diners than more appeared. We even had sushi delivered directly to our table. In fact, two or three interesting dishes, including a tempura platter, just arrived, courtesy of our attentive waiter.
Arigato gozaimasu! We can't wait to get back to our new favourite Japanese!

Having traditional Japanese flavours and adding new styled ideas to some menus.
Good service.
Have reasonable priced lunch sets and market value food for other authentic Japanese foods.

Had the unfortunate experience of dining here tonight. Ordered 'Lemon Chicken with seasonal vegetables' which comprised a fatty cut of chicken sauteed in a sweet sauce, half a handful of mesculun, 1 mushroom and half a tomato. Certainly not the classiest Japanese I've ever been too, and wouldn't return here, especially for $29 (meal + mineral water). Also agree with the previous commentator complaining about the slow service :(.

Our family of four dined at Haru no Yume for dinner last Tuesday evening.

We ordered four entrées to share - the beef tataki, tuna carpaccio (specials menu), chicken karaage and takoyaki. Each one of these dishes were lovely, fresh and flavoursome. We all enjoyed every bite.

For our mains we ordered two of the chicken katsu, salmon teriyaki and the beef steak. Again, the food was very good. We all shared a bit of each of our meals with one another and we all agreed that each dish was delicious.

The only issue we had was the slow rate in which our food came to the table. The wait for the food to be delivered during both courses was unusually long, but it was almost too long for the mains. My son received his first, then mine came out a few minutes later. My daughter and husband both ordered the same meal, but theirs also came out a few minutes apart. Normally, we wait until everyone has their meals before we start eating, but we had to start when we realised that our food would get cold if we waited for the others to get their meals. I would say that there was close to a 10 minute wait between the first main arriving and the last.

I would have like to give them 4 stars but the dining experience is not just about the food, it also comes down to service. The food was great, the restaurant is beautifully decorated, but the service was disappointing.

Love it. Attentive and friendly staff, great selection of food, and tasty as! :-) Very pleased with our experience - we went with our discount voucher and they treated us well. Will definitely return!

$39 per a person for a buffet! Damn, it's pretty cheap considering the groups that I come here with all love sushi and sashimi.

This joint is located near Victoria park, so close to the Victoria Markets/Car park. Parking is free along the streets, since we always come after 7pm, we never really worried too much about the parking. I've been here several times, so the photos I've uploaded are all from different times, but still the same place :)

It's a buffet eatery during the night, but of course, you don't have to dine for the buffet, there's also their set dinner menu and à la carte style that you can pick from. But I personally say the $39 is a damn good value for the types and amount of food that my group and I, myself consume. The staff are extremely awesome!!!! They are really attentive when our water is low, or our dirty plates that we stack up. Korean people are running this Japanese style eatery, but this very typical around Auckland City these days, but its still tasty. They come to our tables with freshly made prawn tempuras, and place it in the middle for us all the dig in, what's even better is the chef, he cuts and slice up a sashimi platter especially for our large group, and if we wanted more, they would make MOARRRRR!!! *sushi/sashimi heaven*

Aside from all the sushi and sashimi, they also serve things like sukiyaki, beef tataki, cheesy baked (or was it grilled O__o) mussels, different style of meats, rice, appetizers like edamame, tofu, takoyaki, gyoza, lotus root and more. You can end your meal on a sweet note, as there is cookies and fruits, cakes and jelly on the buffet table or you could ask for ice-cream that they bring out from the kitchen.

Personally, found this place caters to a lot of my friends, the price is good for the types of food available, especially sashimi since its expensive on its on at other eateries. Highly recommend this place :)

Great Value for all you can eat Japanese food. I go in there really to divulge in sashimi and it never disappoints.

$39 per head which I feel is excellent value for money.
