My go to even if it's over a half hour drive for me! Friendliest and most efficient bunch. Love their fish and secret recipe to their batter. The scallops are to die for and don't forget to add on their homemade aioli to your order - I would recommend them over and over!

Good stop on the way to any beaches/parks round pt chev area. The food was good but as you could expect is quiet oily. Though it is fish and chips so that's what you go there for! The team there are nice, and the speed is relatively good considering how high in demand they were.

As a top choice of seafood I’ve tried a lot of salt pepper squid from various places, and this one is the possibly the best most tasty salt pepper squid (calamari) in Auckland. In my opinion many top restaurants can’t beat it! Good service, good portion size and priced right!

I was in search of the best fish and chips in Auckland, and after seeing a top 10 Fish and Chips article, I came across The Fish & Chip Shop Westmere. Whenever im craving some good ol' fish and chips, i come here. The food is fresh and delicious. Definitely recommend this fish and chip shop to anyone who wants to try some yummy kiwi fish and chips!

This has been my local for a few years now and the service had always been great. They get the orders correct, are polite and the food is amazing. Get the beer battered chips! And the salt and pepper squid. So good!

Great fish. Sadly not real chips. From a packet. Some people don't mind that but I've worked in fish and chip shops and I'm a big fan of chips made on the premises. They seem rare in Auckland though so I still rate these guys 5. Also they have that great Mexican fizzy pop! Big hit with the teens

I’ve had better fish and chips. This were fine, not outstanding. And the chips were not entirely cooked. It’s OK because is cheap and nearby, but I will avoid it if I could.

Yum! The burgers are so good. I thought they were a bit pricey for a burger from a takeaway but they are actually so worth the price. They are huge and have quality ingredients in them. The large chips you get heaps, enough to feed 4 people easy. Was really impressed and will definitely be back. Adding.. This is now our favourite place to come for burgers and we don't even live close by. You just can't beat them. Best fish and chip shop!!

Created an account after visiting this fish & chip shop over the weekend, as it was so good I thought I should let all of Auckland know about it. Forgot to get a photo before we started eating though lol. All of the food was really good value, especially the beef burger. It was really juicy and full of flavour. I must say they do an amazing burger compared to what you'd expect from a standard fish & chip shop. Pro tip - grab your fish & chips from here and head down to Western Springs for a nice relaxing evening... just watch out for the ducks! :-p

First time going there...I made a phone order of chips, a mussel fritter and a hot dog with sauce. Everything was a lot more expensive than happy takeaways but thought I would try it because it looked really nice and seemed popular when I had driven past. I picked up my order up from the friendly Asian girl behind the counter and glanced in the fish cabinet and saw the mussel fritters. They did not look appetising but rather flat and miserable. So I went home and opened my meal up. There was a lovely big portion of nice big chips that looked homemade. I tried one-not enough salt (which is easily rectified), but the oil in which they had been cooked was definitely a day or five past it's best before date!. Then I took a bite of the hot dog. It was quite dry and a little bland. Then I tried the mussel fritter...and spit it back out. It was so dry and tasteless, I think it might have been sitting in the cabinet for a week or longer. It was really bad. Only reason I gave them two stars was for the large portion of chips. Not sure how they justify the prices!!!

Soulless overrated outlet manned by a troupe of unfriendly incompetents. Do yourself a favour and walk across the road to Happy Takeaways instead.

Been meaning to post this for a while actually only just getting around to it. Far too expensive for the lousy quality we got. Chips were so so. Fish was tiny but batter was good . Ordered mushy peas and received a small tub of cold half mushed brown peas which were either overcooked or expired...had no seasoning and left a bad taste in the mouth didn't get past half a spoonful before binning them. Service was below average. Wait times even worse. Would not waste money here again.

I've only been here once and that was after a rugby game at Cox Bay Reserve versing one of the local clubs (the one and only Ponsonby). I ended up getting fish and scallops this time, I didn't get chips as we were trying to maintain the budget. The fish and scallops did not disappoint, nice fresh and full of flavor. The person who served us was so friendly and kind and the service was great. The cooking time was a bit long though, probably because of the people who ordered before us, which wasn't a problem. It's quite flash entering the takeaway, it has those olden day dessert parlor floors. And it has that display fridge where the they keep the fresh fish on display. The menu was a bit difficult to find, only to look left and there it was.

yes place is clean but what they serve is of ? ... thai fish cakes pan fired on the top and bottom and not cooked on the sides??? when queried their cooks said this what we do - heat in Microwave to heat thru and then cook on griddle for slight color. Had to ditch the cakes, couldn't take a chance being coted in sesame seed and egg??

Probably the best fish and chips I've been in Auckland. The place is very clean and the ingredients are fresh. Service is not so fast as in other places, but quality has its price. My fish Burger was ultra crispy, just as I expected, the only problem was with the cheese, that wasn't properly melted. This is a detail that makes the difference, but I'd come back there anyway for another meal.

Sooooo good! We've lived in the area for 6 months but only just tried this place...uh oh, I can feel my waistline expanding already! The battered snapper is simply amazing...and the chips....YUM!!!

It was so good to visit here. We had great chicken burger and chips just in front of the Beach 30 sec from the shop. So crispy and gorgeous . And nice staffs too.!!

Never Not Eating

We are over from Australia and were desperate to try some local fish and chips. We popped into this place and were thrilled we did. It was very busy but once we got our food we knew why! The snapper was as fresh as it could be and cooked perfectly.

Had really good fish and chips here awhile ago came back excited to have it again but was disappointed chips were dry and basically un-eatable. I'm not sure what oil they use but after you eat anything deep fried it makes you feel sick. The snapper is good I suggest you get it pan fried. The burgers are good. Anything deep fried though it's not worth wasting your money on. Truly disappointed.

By far the best fish and chip shop in Auckland. The quality of the food here has been consistently on another level and way above any other shop I've been to. The batter is light yet has a nice crunch to it. The chips are always cooked and seasoned to perfection. And the burgers are fresh and juicy, just like kiwi burgers should be. Highly recommended to anyone in the area to check this place out, you won't reget it!

Beautiful, fresh fish cooked with respect. Forget deep fried rubbery seafood, the food here is top quality and seasoned to perfection. Salt and pepper squid is a household favourite, although we've yet to have a bad meal here. The spud fries, kumara chips and wedges are crispy not oily, and the shop itself is immaculate. Our favourite local on weeknights, take a walk down to the beach nearby for a great meal.

Yum as food haha! Me and my boyfriend went there for our 1st date!! So good we sat in Grey Lynn park devouring our fish and chips he fed me the chips and I fed him the chips it was great!!! We hooked up by the place once and we were just kissing when this dude walked past staring at us (what a creep) but anyway holding a paper bundle from the shop and it smelt amazing we didn't have any money on us though so we just went into the civic (hid behind some shelves) went past first base hahahaha, he's such a good kisser um then some people came into the store one lady was his mum she gave us some money and we went into the place again its amazing!!! 5 stars !! Definitely recommend going there !!! yeah !!
