Review Pickles Cafe On Apollo - Auckland Central

The cafe has a Cantonese menu. The fast noodles series and cantonese milk tea are very authentic and highly recommend. The cafe is spacious with many seating inside and outside. Good for families gathering or small business activities. Staffs are very nice. They also open on Sunday, which is perfect for families weekend get together. There are around 10 parking outside. A good place to eat and relax.

I chose this cafe because of its location close to the Owen Glenn swimming pool. I met some friends here and we had a lovely lunch in a warm and friendly environment. I would highly recommend this establishment. There is parking directly outside and the interior of the cafe is clean and tidy, including the toilets.

From the moment I walked towards the cafe, I was greeted. I've had coffee here before, and it was absolutely amazing, and I had to stop for another! Friendly and helpful staff! And obviously amazing coffee!

David and the team did an AMAZING job catering a spread for our workshops! Everything was fresh and tasty! The crowd loved it & I wasn’t quick enough to get a proper pic 🤦‍♀️ will definitely use again!

The food was great, eggs on toast were a bit scarce as it seemed it was only one egg, but the waffles were delicious and well served and so was the avocado on toast.

Great place with an interesting menu. They were out of the ribs while we were there, but the Bao buns were delicious. Tasted really fresh & one in an interesting black bread! Good parking outside too.

A lovely cafe in the business area. We visited on Sunday for lunch and the cafe was 40% occupied. Friendly and helpful staffs. Yummy food with amazing present. Love the chicken burger amd flat white.

First time here. Service is okay, not great but not bad too. Atmosphere is very chill and quiet. I don't know if it was the timing but I went around 1pm for a meeting. Had a Mango smoothie which was really good. I totally recommend. Parking is not the best, there are only about 10 spots and very tight too. Cafe space is very spacious and good amount of tables. They also offer PowerPoints to charge devices.

Came here with our Zomato discount and it did not disappoint. Food came out quick and the employees were very pleasant. Will be coming back again.

These are our big breakfasts, one vegetarian and one meat. These were hands down the tastiest breakfasts we have had from a cafe! The service and price were great too!! Highly recommend!!

My husband loved his big breakfast and my omelette was delicious. I would have liked a bigger pot of tea (and the right blend) but those are minor quibbles. My husband's coffee was nice.

I go to Pickes Café for breakfast every Sunday. I grab the couch next to the power point, link my laptop to the free wifi and work on my project while enjoying a delicious breakfast and soy flat white. The staff here are so friendly and accommodating. Great parking, great food, great staff.

Was a joke, arrived with out grab one deal , staff advised us there management didn't tell them a grab one deal was on, no steak sammy/ no salmon/ no surf and turf as per grab one menu - never going back it sucked - however staff did a good job under pressure . Watch out for deals on grab one NOT recommended

My coffee stop every morning!!! Staffs are all friendly and professional, even remembers what coffee I have before I place my order, impressive! Food is always yummy and kids friendly with a dedicated kids menu. Highly recommend!

We have ordered a big breakfast and a salad, were very disappointed to have burnt haloumi in the salad and again burnt toast in the big breakfast.

Great service and the mochacino was delicious, I'd want to try their food menu as well. Spacious inside but there always seems to be groups of people there. They have seats at the deck outside so u can bring along a well trained dog as well. The cafe was hard to find.

Casual cafe restaurant that had a good 30% discount so we decided to try it and headed down on the way to shop at Wallace cotton in Albany. <br/><br/>Cafe interior was a little dim but had free WiFi, good friendly service and the food was good. Esp the creamy mushroom on toast! <br/><br/>Liked the idea that their bao platter had two different options of pork belly and Korean chicken. <br/><br/>Nice place for a quick lunch if you are passing through Albany.

Visited pickles pre lockdown and loved the food and my deluxe milkshake! Visited post lockdown and portion sizes seemed a lot smaller than before (although still delicious) and they gave me the wrong flavored shake to what I ordered..

Taro smoothie：The taste is not very sweet but the taste of taro is very heavy. If you like taro, is very recommend to try it . Low key cafe, provides a great dining environment, friendly staffs sending the warm greeting, and take your order politely. <br/>They have a variety of dishes on the menu that you can select from. We ordered the Teriyaki Chicken Burger from lunch menu, and common cafe brunch dish Egg Benedict. The burger bun has inner soft, and crispy skin, the taste of the chicken with the teriyaki sauce makes the burger have a great fusion taste; the egg benedict has great plating, you can see the effort the chef put in, their special sauce is also a key element of making difference between their egg benny and others. <br/>Overall it’s a good cafe & eatery that worth to pay the visit!

The salmon salad is not bad. But the texture of omelette is rubbery, I wonder are they real egg or just egg mixture. Kids chicken nuggets is so-so.

Came here on Sunday morning for brunch was quite busy so there was 20-30min wait on the food. Great range of food in the menu! We ordered the crispy chicken eggs benedict, smashed avocado on bruschetta and chicken nuggets and chips for the little one. Food presentation was great, food was average. Tho a bit disappointed with the chicken nuggets as when it arrived it's quite heavy with black pepper and salt seasoning (which is weird because its for kids)

We came here with Zomato Gold and ordered a Salmon & Prawn Salad, Teriyaki Chicken Burger, and an Almond Cappuccino.<br/><br/>The salad was light and refreshing, perfect for a hot summer’s day. I loved the different textures incorporated into the salad like the crunchiness of the lotus root chips and bean sprouts alongside the softness of the salmon and avocado. My only issue with this dish was that the salmon was extremely smoky, to the point that I could only eat the smallest piece at a time but it still ended up being too much for me.<br/><br/>The burger was great but a bit of a mess to eat due to the runny egg yolk and sticky teriyaki sauce. Flavours were great and the chicken was soft.<br/><br/>The coffee was surprisingly amazing for an almond one. The milk was smooth and had just the right amount of froth.

Convenient location for a bite or coffee. Decent food. Good place for a coffee catch up or brunch with some friends. <br/><br/>P/S: this place could get pack during peak hours, and parking may be an issue.

Definitely won’t be back. Shocking coffee, Luke warm food(bacon had been sitting there so long you could snap it) The replacement meal wasn’t much better. Hollandaise sauce tasted really strongly vinegar.

I was here with my girlfriend in the morning. I was craving for something sweet that day so I had ordered the french toast. My girlfriend being the healthier of the two had ordered the eggs benedict with mixed mushroom.<br/><br/>I really enjoyed my french toast, generous portion and I love anything with peanut butter. The cinnamon on the toast was not too sweet and pairs well with the grilled banana as well as the sauce that came with it.<br/>I also had a cappucino which I also quite liked.<br/><br/>Taste - 3.5/5<br/>Ambiance - 3/5<br/>Value - 4 with zomato gold, 3 without

I had not visited this place in years but recently went to be pleasantly surprised. Ordered the Lamb Taco and Avo smash. Both were full of flavour, presentation was beautiful and pleasing to the eyes and mouth. I also got an iced coffee which was not stupidly expensive and just simple good coffee with ice. Staff were friendly. Couches are really comfy.

The peanut sauce in the burger was really yum! Im not a huge fan of burgers but this one got me. The staff can improve their service though.

Wasn’t impressed with this place. Paid $18 for smashed avo, there was about 1/4 of an avocado in the whole dish. I was shocked at how little avocado there was in a SMASHED AVO. Bread was really burnt, couldn’t eat most of it. Halloumi and eggs were nice. One of our servers was nice, the other one looked scared to talk or make eye contact with us. Definitely won’t be back here.

I’m appalled. I called up for takeaway and specifically asked for “smashed avocado replace bruschetta with sourdough” (which I double checked on the phone) and when I opened up my takeaway box, it was two pieces of sourdough and literally 1/6th of an avocado. My side of kumara fries were average at best.

I would say that lunch menus are on the expensive side with almost all main menus over $20... I was just looking for a quick late breakfast and chose to go with breakfast muffin. Quite average but the price was about $6 and can't complain. There were no tables when I went in and had to ask for the table to be cleaned since empty tables were not cleaned yet. Server took the dirty dishes but did not wipe the table at all... I did it myself... This visit was below average but their egg sandwiches are superb. Anyone going to pickles should try it.

Visited here for a late breakfast this morning and sat outside.<br/>The vibe was nice and it wasn't busy at all. The staff were friendly and kind.<br/>We ordered a big breakfast and the eggs benedict and an iced chocolate. They swiftly said they were unable to make iced chocolates at the moment and apologised. My friend changed her drink happily. However they came back a few minutes later saying they got more ice and would be able to make it now if she wanted to change it. I thought it was nice that they thought about it and took the time to ask and apparently it was worth it because the iced chocolate was so good.<br/>The food was pretty quick to come out and nicely plated. It was filling and tasted amazing so we will definitely be visiting again soon.

Came here for a quick working lunch. Had the eggs Benedict with fried chicken as I’ve never seen it before and thought it was interesting. Eggs cooked well, home made hollandaise sauce and good portion. However the chicken, while flavorful, was dry. The coffee wasn’t great either. Not a terrible experience but not a great one either.

Visited today for some Sunday lunch. Was very quite which was nice, lots of seating outside to enjoy the summers day. Food was pretty good and great value with the Zomato Gold. Good coffee also! Would recommend :)

Pickles has fantastic cheese and onion sandwiches...a favorite is mine.<br/>I tried something new today, a Turkish style lamb pocket. I had mine untoasted.....I should have got it toasted. Flavor was ok, it had a caramelised onion relish in it. It needed a good mint / cucumber yoghurt dressing.<br/>Average cafe, if you have a fetish for cheese and onion sandwiches, try Pickles.

There are so many cafes near that block but we decided to try out this place. Food was good but hoping that coffee will be better next time... It is a bit too cold to enjoy the outdoor area, but it would be nice in the summer.

Had an early brunch here Sunday and it’s always good when you don’t have to wait too long for your food. Operative word “early”. <br/>Creamy mushrooms average for price, (2x thick slices ciabatta, spinach and half a cup of mushies)👎, Smashed Avo bagel with tomato, feta and bacon terrific 👍, Eggs Benedict (no frills but well cooked eggs)👍, then the French toast topped it off quite nicely, that and a great pot of English breakfast tea. <br/>Although a bit on the pricey side, (chuck in a few mocca’s and $114 later), I still enjoyed the food all up. Service was very good, waitresses nice enough.

Went to Pickles on Saturday, was amazed by the food and service. It was great value for the price. The coffees were on point and the Benedicts were great! Would definitely be back again.

Have been to pickles cafe a few times last year. Decided to go today because we loved it when we came previously. Unfortunately we were quite disappointed this time round. Our food came out cold, ordered 3 meals that had poached eggs and not one was actually poached. All were fully cooked, the squid salad was so salty it was very hard to eat, coffee was okay. And at the end they couldn’t find our order when we went to pay. Most probably will not be returning.

Generous portions. Spacious seating with good variety of food. Service was great with waiter coming to check that everything was fine with our food. Would definitely come back

I try to pop in here for a coffee on the go in between meetings. This coffee lady now remembers my order and has it on the counter before my payment has even been accepted! How she remembers not only so many peoples orders but how they like their coffee is beyond me! Love that even if Im in a rush I can be in and back out on the road in a matter of minutes. Thanks!

Overpriced food but the slices/muffins etc are fantastic and the coffee is good. Generally speaking service is good, if not a bit rushed. Good for business meetings.

Late lunch on the weekend. Ordered a big brekkie and a surf&turf, a large mocha and banana smoothie. I would have to say the drink is nice and the food is good according to the hubs. The waitress was friendly and they allow dogs which is a plus for us, even provided drinking bowl for them. We would have given a 4 in rating if it weren't for the juicy green caterpillar which was discovered before I was about to dig in (thank goodness!) so we notified the waitress straight away and she was apologetic, and said they would make another one but by that time I was kinda in no mood to eat so my partner ate our food. Upon finishing his big brekkie, he also found a piece of plastic from those probably chipped from a takeaway container? - since he nearly finished and the plastic was only about half a paper clip size - we did not bother anymore. I think Pickles need to be extra careful in food preparation, especially since food safety is a big thing.

We had brunch at Pickles today.  The place was fairly busy on a wet Sunday but the service was prompt and efficient.  We ordered the Vege breakfast and the Potato cake eggs "Benedict". The Vege BF was a good sized plate containing poached eggs, toast, cottage cheese, grilled tomato, two mini potato cakes, avocado and spinach.  The potato cake with poached eggs and hollandaise was served with spinach and mushrooms. The potato cake was large, with a crisp crust and light and fluffy inside.  Both dishes were very good, an ample size for brunch, and reasonably priced.

20 of us had Sunday lunch here yesterday, 29th November and it was already fairly busy when we arrived.  I had been so looking forward to a meal here but left hungry and disappointed.  I had Tandoori chicken kebabs and salad - it was mostly salad leaves with insufficient dressing.  The kebabs were made up of 3 strips of chicken  (not even equal to half a chicken breast) and would hardly have satisfied a child let alone an adult.  Another in our party had the same problem with her beef salad - all leaves, insufficient meat!  All in all, NOT good value for money - very unlikely to go back, sadly. :-(

Brunch at pickles. Lovely place. Easy to miss as it's in built up industrial/office environment. <br/>Great service. Catered well with my tricky shared brunch requests. Defiantly worth dinning in. Salmon, feta and spinach omelette worth a try. Just needed a little more salt.

These guys are fantastic. Best customer service around, always looking after our wants and special needs :) We always come back to Pickles for great food whether it be breakfast or lunch. The food we ordered was nice and came on time but the chips that came on the side tasted like they were cooked in old/burnt oil. The decoration outside and the tropical smoothie was very nice.

<br/>Come here in a regular basis. The breakfast dishes are exceptionally tasty and the fruit salad is always fresh and full of flavour using a wide mixture of different fruits. Highly recommend popping in for coffee and a quick nibble in the morning to get you ready for the day ahead.

Come here almost every day when I work to get my coffee the staff are always so lovely and they now call me by name. The coffee quality varies depending on the Batista but usually a good cup of coffee. Their carrot cake is also quite good (I am a sucker for cream creese icing). Wouldn't be my go to if I wanted to go out for a nice meal but i would definitely return.

It was my first time here - I met a friend for brunch. I had the potato cakes and they were delicious.  The coffee was good.  I was there for several hours.  Lots of space and tables.  Attentive staff.  - Parking could be a bit of a mission at times.

Very dissapointing. Unbelievably long wait with only three tables taken. My potato stack was undercooked and I am not a fan of raw potatoes. Big breakfast is a big joke and definitely does not worth  $24. Not coming back.

Went for breakfast here. The staff were all friendly and bubbly. Our coffees arrived within minutes. My partner ordered the Big Breakfast and I the French Toast. My only complaint would be that I couldn't eat it all. We got coffees on the way out and I cant believe how fast those girls make coffee!! Over all, we found the service to be prompt and friendly. The cafe was clean and tidy, and  the bathrooms were spotless. With the big doors open it had amazing indoor outdoor flow. This cafe is surprisingly spacious. Also I must mention the gluten free options, half of their slices are gluten free, I tried the Ginger slice and it was to die for, I love what they did with the base. The waitress said that they can also alter most of the menu for gluten free as well as having a few options already available. Defiantly a place I feel confidant taking my friends and family to.. Pickles my favourite  restaurant . <br/>From the moment you arrive there till you leave it is an amazing experience. Plenty parking space and well situated. Pickles must have the most amazing staff in the whole of NZ. Always friendly and they make you feel when you there you at home with family. The service is great. The food always presents the touch and taste of a master chef. I highly recommend Pickles. I always say "the ambiance and the people working for you will show who the owners are"With Andy and his  family they great people to know and they are doing a great job. <br/>Pickles to me is #1

Pickles was our choice of Cafe for Fathers Day lunch, one of our favourite Cafes.  We love the spaciousness, friendly and efficient staff and atmosphere of the place.<br/>Father had the Squid rolled in Polenta & lemon pepper, served with golden chips and fresh salad and aioli, proclaimed delicious by the Man of the Day.<br/>My choice was Corn and Zucchini fritters with bacon, served with lots of salad and aioli, fritters were cooked perfectly and the bacon was just right.<br/>Son and Daughter shared a Hawaiian pizza, the crust and topping yummy, according to them, not a crumb left.<br/>The coffees were great as were the  smoothies for the Children.  Sadly, no room or any sweet slices in the cabinet...... next time!

I recently visited this Cafe by chance after visiting a client of mine in the area.<br/><br/>What surprised me was the friendly attitude of the staff and the excellent food. The coffee was one of the better ones I have tasted. The cafe was spacious, clean and well maintained.<br/><br/>This should be a great venue for client or staff meetings as they have an area which can be shut-off and soundproofed.<br/><br/>Keep up the good work Pickles.<br/><br/>BIGACA

It's really a shame that I have to give Pickles on Apollo a 1 star review but as this was my first visit here I was left with an overall poor impression.<br/><br/>I visited on a quiet Sunday morning, the cafe was for the most part empty but I thought it was a well laid out, clean and spacious cafe. They have an array of different seating options from comfy leather couches and armchairs, to high back hard dining chairs and tables. However, that is the end of my praise for Pickles.<br/><br/>The soy flat white was watery - I hate to sound like I am whining but with the recent openings of two stellar coffee joints within a two minute drive from this place, I really was expecting an enjoyable cup of java. The sausage roll I ordered for my toddler was nuked to a burning hot temperature after I had politely requested it to be warmed slightly because it was for a child. When I did taste the sausage roll it had a 'game-y' flavour to it which was rather off putting.<br/><br/>I ordered the corn fritters and asked if smoked salmon could be swapped for bacon which the staff happily obliged. The fritters were quite tasty and presented well but halfway through my meal a mouthful made me stop & discover that one of the fritters was completely burnt on one side. I find it completely insulting that the kitchen staff would send out a burnt food item by hiding it burnt side down on the plate. I called a server over to show her & she was apologetic enough & went to the kitchen to request another to be cooked. I overheard the conversation between the cook and herself and it sounded like the cook didn't believe her. I have included the photo of the burnt fritter (on Yelp.co.nz - I can't get the photo to load on this site) so others can judge for themselves.<br/><br/>Again, it is really a shame to have to give such a review but with the countless cafés that occupy Auckland, there really is no excuse for such poor standards of food.

We had Pickles Cafe cater a private cocktail party for us. The food was fantastic, beautifully prepared and presented. They looked after it in travel as it arrived in perfect condition. Delivery man was very helpful and efficient.<br/>It was better than my expectations. I would use them again and would recommend.<br/>The party was great and they made it easy.

I ordered 2 coffees today, 1 trim and 1 full. The barista misread the ticket and made both trim. When she realised she had made a mistake she told me "they're basically the same", she then reluctantly said she'd make me another one, "if [I] want". I wasn't going to make a scene for having a different milk in my coffee. But there was no apology, just a half-hearted attempt at rectifying her mistake, along with excuses and an attitude. I had always enjoyed my visits to Pickles up to that point; quite disappointed with the unprofessionalism I witnessed today.

Went on Sunday for lunch with a party of 5 - 3 adults and 2 under 5s. The staff were great - helpful and pleasant, and really good with the kids - including ensuring our 4 year old got tomato sauce straight away with his chips. Food was great, and no complaints of the coffee either.

Very disappointed - went for breakfast this morning for my parents wedding anniversary - waited about 15 minutes just to get our coffees (the cafe was not even that busy) when our food came the big breakfasts were the same size as the mini breakfasts and they were all missing bacon, so had to go and request some. No one came to see how we were doing or take any further orders or clear out plates - I had to go up to the counter and order more coffees which took another 20 minutes to arrive. The food tastes ok - service bad and don't think based on the portion sizes it was value for money at all.

First time here. What a lovely find. The staff were all well trained, friendly and efficient. We had the big breakies which were good value and most enjoyable. The homemade potato cakes were a lovely change to hashbrowns and everything was hot. The coffees were delicious, just the right balance of coffee and choc for us. Very spacious cafe with a good indoor/outdoor flow. A lovely spot for a quick brekie or a leisurely lunch. Very tidy and toilets were spotless. Thank you guys for a great start to our anniversary, we will certainly be back and are more than happy to recommend you to others. All the best to you for the future.

My family held a Silver wedding brunch celebration here - 15 Adults and 7 children. Great success and ideal place for a large group. Staff were friendly and efficient and the the service was well organised. Will no doubt return here again and know the rest of the family feel the same.

I do not recommend the food in the cabinet. What I purchased tasted like it had sat there for too long. Looked nice, good price, but didn't taste good, maybe spoiled? It had a funny taste. I tried to change it, they were not accommodating at all. Very disappointing, will not be returning.

Had a business lunch here, service was very friendly, food came out fast, hot and delicious and the coffee was great.<br/>Nice atmosphere for meetings and big groups and very clean.<br/>keep up the good work
