Review Punjabi Kitchen Mankau - Auckland Central

Awesome food and atmosphere! The staff have an immaculate customer service attitude and would recommend dinning in or takeaway from here. However, I assume the owners for this site would be the same as the newly opened Papatoetoe site? This site needs some reviewing as the food has been low-grade and very disappointing in comparison to the Manukau site.

Great food and service. We went here for lunch and this was our second option because the first one we went to was taking really long to take orders so we decided to leave and look for another place. Greatfully we found this restaurant. Happy with the experience. Clean and simple with lots of parking spaces. Food came in quickly and tasted good. They also serve lunch specials and weekday specials.

I like this place and the food was served in a traditional Indian way and the food served hot and good in taste and reasonable in price.

I usually order and do take away , first time dined in with my partner and it was 10/10. Quick service , friendly staff, always available when you need and the food just taste even better when you eat it. Great job !!

Had takeaway meal, but the restaurant was busy. Good sign. Food is always excellent, generous portion . Great service

Went to this place on my way to Auckland from Christchurch (drive). Went into the restaurant exhausted, but a good hearty rogan josh lunch deal made rejuvenated. The staffs were friendly asking if my food was OK, which I responded multiple times that it was great. Sorry I don't have a pic of the food. I forgot. I was too busy eating

Words are not enough to express my views. Should really change the name to either "Mum made food", absolute zero coloring, the taste that can keep you thinking for weeks. My parents lived in India their entire life and visited NZ and tried Punjabi kitchen's food. They are back in India now and everywhere they go and try food from restaurants to hotels to weddings they are failing to find quality that even get anything close to Punjabi Kitchen. The Best Manchurian ever. Highly recommend you to try the food.

Service and food is truly 10/10 in person. Have ordered many times online but it just tastes better in person and the waiter is extremely friendly and constantly checking on you. If you enjoy getting takeout for this place, please consider dining in! I don’t know if the waiter is the owner or not but he definitely deserves a pay raise! :)

Great food but the best part is the customer service. Lovely girl Prabh is always so cheerful. And all the others as well. They go out of their way to help you. Great work!!

We always have a delicious meal when we eat here! Service is always friendly.

Punjabi kitchen is a very welcoming restaurant, I have been here very many times and each and every time I get a great and memorable experience. The staff is very accommodating and very friendly. The food is exceptional. Gives the full “Indian” experience. My personal favourite is the Butter chicken, the taste is just mouth watering. Overall this is my favourite restaurant.

First time there, food was yum but took just over two hours to complete our dinner, we had to call out at least 4 times to the server, are our drinks coming, how long for our food, when asked if we wanted dessert, my response was depends how long I have to wait to get it. The food was very nice and hot when we finally got it though.

We order to go most of the time & when we have ordered for delivery it is fast & food is hot, love the butter chicken & murg malai chicken
Vignesh Santhosh Prabhu
Disappointed, ordered through uber eats. The delivery was reasonably quick, however the food was below average. Biriyani was boiled rice mixed with curry and not the actual biriyani which you get in other restaurants. Lamb dopiaza and chicken kadhai was just about edible. For the price they charge for the food I would definately not recommend this restaurant. Spend your money elsewhere.

Food was good but the service was very poor today. I used to come to this place with friends many times. But today i was very much dissatisfied with the service by the staff.

Really good service...ordered online and they rang back what time to pick up. Curry was yum and they gave us 6 nann bread when i thought i only ordered 2 online but they must've given extra... really pleased with this place and will most likely order again!

Ordered a couple of curries and naans via uber eats and they were amazing. The curries had more flavour than other local curry places. The wait time including delivery was fine, quite quick considering it was ordered via a third party app and delivered.
The curries were more expensive than other local places but I didn't mind after tasting them as they were worth it!
I haven't been in store yet so don't know what the facilities are like.
100% will be reordering!

Update - I have been in a couple of times to pick my takeaways up. The facilities has a restaurant which looks like it could seat 30 people maybe?
Monday to Wednesdys their curries are cheaper, from memory $12 per curry. We have found the times were they have their cheaper curries the sauce/gravy is a lot thinner than when you purchase during the weekend.
Service is always pretty quick about 15 minutes from a phone order to being ready for pick up.
Only had one bad experience recently where I paid for two cheese naan breads, got home and there was only one :(
Tony Parahi
Very busy establishment but not surprising with the well presented, visually tantalizing meals also having 4 levels of heat makes them outstanding which is a 5 in my books.
The food was delicious, with reasonable prices and the service was fast and friendly. The whole ambience was warm and homey! Will definitely return!
Anisha
The food was very delicious. Their chicken made me remind of India’s chicken. Moreover, the customer service is good too. Must go place in Auckland if you are a Indian foodie.

First time here, nice food good taste the chease garlic nun bread was amazing food preparation was good came out perfect i couldn't wait to get my hands on this hehe evan tho i was in a bad mood :( the stuff were so professional and good love the customer service 100% the atmosphere was warm and wellcoming love love will go back again this is a place you would look at from the out side and be like nah don't want to eat there its just like every other plain Indian restaurant what I'm trying to say is don't judge an out side by it's looks untill you have stepd your foot in the door to try the great food and warm wellcome with 100%great service i wish all the other Indians restaurants i go to were as cozy and polite as this place keep up the good work :)

This is our regular Indian takeout place because we always get good food at reasonable prices. We have ordered most of their dishes on the menu but I always love the lamb sagwala, chicken bhuna and the vindaloo. The best thing about this place is their food being consistent and delicious, every time. Definitely recommend this place for your regular Indian place and if you go from Monday to Wednesday, you can get most of the mains for $12 which is a great deal.
Food Loverrr
Ordered some butter chicken, samosas, fries and chicken naan bread through Uber Eats last night. The butter chicken was the best I've ever tasted, so creamy and full of flavor. Also the samosas have got to be the best I have ever tried as well. The fries were nice and hot, however I was not a fan of the naan, but that's alright ill just stick to a garlic naan for next time.

Edit: tried dining in to this place and it was absolutely fantastic, amazing friendly service and the food was soooo delicious the best Indian food I’ve ever had 🙂

Food was very good. I will recommend others for this place. But lady on counter was looking stressed About something and didn’t give her 100%. Otherwise everything was great and family environment.
We celebrated our grandson"s birthday there. It was superb. Food was amazing, The staff was very helpful and they allowed us to bring our drinks. Finally we had the whole place to ourselves. Really great experience. Would recommend for small parties and get togethers

This is my go to dine in, Indian restaurant. I enjoy the atmosphere & the service is always good. Food is always delicious and in my opinion make the best naan bread in South Auckland. Curries are delicious, always get the chicken tikka masala, chicken madras or rogan josh. Probably would like the rogan josh with a bit more of a heavy gravy consistency instead runny. But we will ask for that when I next dine.

Delicious food and lovely atmosphere! The staff had awesome service, they were friendly and helpful as we had our 1 year old with us. Will definitely return :)

4/5 Taste
3.5/5 Display
4/5 Quantity
4.5/5 Customer Service

Decent Indian Restaurant in Manukau

Didn’t have anywhere to go in Manukau and ended up in this place. To be honest I didn’t have any expectations but they were pretty good. Butter Chicken tasted like Butter chicken, not some authentic traditional sour curry. Their deep fried onion chips were pretty nice. Actually not so nice but they gave us huge portion compared to it’s price.
Sariah
Best butterchicken ever, won’t eat it anywhere else. Friendly staff who are attentive. Food arrives quickly & they’re quick to take your order
Godfather
Best butter chicken around the area. Paneer is nice as well. Service standards are relatively high when owner is around otherwise staff doesn't care.
Simon Wordsworth
Tried this place out of interest from Zomato review. Was pleasantly surprised after seeing the outside of this block of shops in the middle of suburban Manukau. Average ambiance but the curry was really good! Had a Chicken Tikka then Tikka Masala, medium hot, and hit the spot. Who needs fancy ambience when you have great food
Lilly Fifita
Ordered 3 curries and 3 naan bread for takeaway, all 3 curries and naan bread were delicious and freshly made hot, will definitely be back to order. 😊( must try the garlic cheese naan)

Haven't had the experience of dining in this establishment but I have ordered food for take out and it wasn't a disappointment. Food was DEEElicious and tasty. Their specials are $11 mains from Mon-Wed but excludes seafood mains.
TheGoodKiwi Nz
Atmosphere- good. Service good. Food delicious. Ordered Pakora for entree but they didn't arrive and they had clearly forgotten. That was only deviation from good service. Would return if not so far away for us.

Came here lastnight without a booking and got a seat straight away. It's a small Indian restaurant compared to the usual but super cosy.
Rohit Parmar and I ordered their platter for 2 which comes with tandoori chicken, Samosas, seekh kebabs and onion bhaji. The tandoori chicken was cooked to perfection and tasted delicious as did the Samosas. The seekh kebabs were not as tender but the flavour was there.
For mains we ordered their Punjab curry, butter chicken and some garlic and cheese naans. Currys were delicious and the the garlic and cheese naans were soooo amaze.
Definitely recommend 👌

Food and Flavour: 2/5
Ambience: 3.5/5
Seating: 3/5
Service: 3/5
Value for Money: 3.5/5

Ample car parking, Huge Punjabi style seating area. Very friendly staff and the food wasnt that bad either.
We ordered for Butter chicken , Naan, kebab and Dhal Makhani. We loved the Chicken and Naan. The dhal Makhani and the Lassi could have been much much better.

One my favourite Indian restaurants in Auckland! I'm so glad we decided to dine here for lunch after craving some Indian food.

Close to home, in a slightly weird location but there's a steady flow of customers grabbing takeaway, we were the only ones dining in.

We ordered the set entree which included tikka masala chicken, onion bhaji, and pakora. For mains we ordered butter chicken and a chicken saagwala. Part of the lunch deal is for $12 we got mains, rice, naan, and soft drink! Great value for money!

All dishes were really damn good, beautiful blend of spices and generous servings of meat. Great stuff! Staff are friendly and attentive, restaurant itself is spacious a little dated but the food is amazing 😍
Hidden gem in Manukau! Definitely will be back for more!
Chai Paani
This is my lazy week night takeout restaurant, but if I'm feeling exceptionally lazy, we just dine in-take our own bottle of wine and get waited on! They do $10 mains Mon-Wed with complimentary rice - cannot complain! The food is good, the staff are friendly and the restaurant though small is nice.
If dining in, the Platter for two is a good place to start. The mains, over time we've tried the Butter Chicken, the Chicken Tikka masala, the Lamb Saagwala, the Lamb madras and their Chef's special curry. All good. In the vegetarian options - the Dal Makhani ,Palak Paneer, Veg Manchuria, Aloo Mattar and Shahi Paneer are worth a try too. Oh and the freshly made Naans...delicious!
We've been going back and we'll keep going back!

Great food, Great Service and Exceptional price Mon-Wed. Cheaper than the foodcourt places but 10x better! Highly recommended. Great food, Great Service and Exceptional price Mon-Wed. Cheaper than the foodcourt places but 10x better! Highly recommended.

The ambience is good. Tasty Indian food. I don't eat spicy food and they cooked really good non spicy food.
The lunch combo is good and value for money.
Near the airport so accessible to Indians who are travelling to Auckland.
Food is good but one thing i dont like messy floors! Please guys keep yr restaurant nice and clean when customers left clean it same time, every customers is a golden nuggets.
Paul Ireland
not impressed with the cost of drinks here overcharged for drinks actually even the price of the food was expensive $40 for banquet and that was only for entree and main no dessert no poppadoms. Gin and tonic was $20 a glass bourbon and coke $16 and $5 for corkage real rip off actually so I suggest if you go just eat no drinking otherwise your wallet will be empty when you leave.

P.S -just thought I would add a note the menu added on here is outdated it actually says $30 for the banquet also the food comes in tiny as bowls the size of of a half a coffee cup but they fill you up on naan bread
Zeena Ali
would like to say a big thank you! you guys catered for our conference we had approx 30 people and all the food had been eaten as it was great, everyone enjoyed it. Will definately be using you guys again, excellent service.

One of the best Indian reaturent ever we had. I have tried many Indian restaurant but never find good as this one. It's pretty small but from last 6 month it become our regular dinner place. Service is good but need little more attention. I would highly recommend this restaurant to all best good ever . Definitely will keep going there unless bad expereice . Well done .

Great place to dine at. Good friendly staff and the quality of the food was up to the mark. Looking forward to visit more frequently. Thanks Punjabi kitchen
Cara
Terrible! This was their second chance as my last meal was very average and this was even worse! Lacklustre lamb madras, I could hardly eat any of the lamb - it was tough, full of fat and sinew.
Kim
Was disappointed yet again to be charged for popadums and not actually receiving them as a takeaway. It's not about the charge it's about getting what you order. Won't bother again hmmmm
Brendan Cole
Thank you so much not only for your great food but your great delivery service as well. Always consist tasty curries every time we order. We would recommend you to all our friends.
Ainslee
This is my local takeaway - so definitely handy, good special $10main mon/tue/wed
When phoning just get them to repeat the order back to you. 20mins always from phonecall and they are always friendly

The food quality and quantity for lunch is ok but less choices. The customer service is very poor. I asked them for onions and they charged $4.50 for little onions what a rip off. The customer service is very poor and the guy is too busy in doing texting when we called to place our order. The guy is very rude don't know what is the meaning of customer service. I don't recommend this restaurant to anyone and I been this restaurant quite a few times just because of chef Mr Deepak as he is a very good chef and a nice person. I am not going to visit this restaurant again until they change their behavior and improve their customer service.
Prashant Belwalkar
Service is Ok. Lunch menu has $10 any curry wth Naan and Rice. The Naan is full, but the choices of curries are limited. Daal option is only Makhni one no Yellow or Tadka Daal. Asked for spicy Daal and it was spiced up using pepper. Overall OK. Nothing great.

Went for lunch with a friend to fulfil a butter chicken craving, and wasn't disappointed. Good sized meal, attentive staff, the place was practically empty, only one other pair came in. Clean and tidy, I was pleased. The food wasn't too expensive, as part of their lunch special, for $10 we could chose any curry on the menu, and it came with naan and rice. For $2 extra you could add a drink or change the naan to garlic naan. I would definitely go again, satisfied my butter chicken craving!
Pete
Really great food and prompt service - I phoned in my order, and it was ready when I arrived to collect it, about 5 minutes later. I had a mild butter chicken and butter naan, which came to $12.90 on their current Mon-Wed special. Plenty of food, and it was some of the best butter chicken I've tasted! The naan was large and cooked to perfection.

Restaurant has a nice atmosphere, too, so will definitely be back to try a sit-down meal. An instant favourite!

I was so disappointed :( I was craving for a good makhani paneer today. and I went to this restaurant because I have been hearing a lot of good reviews but when I tasted the mkhani paneer it wasn't what I was expecting. There's too much masala, not even mild spicy and it's too sour. I've tasted a lot of makhani paneer from different Indian restaurants.

Now named 'Indian Kitchen'. I've never been here before so first impressions were of a modern fresh decor, nice and cool inside which was very welcome on a hot Summer evening. The service was quite friendly and efficient but the staff seem a little shy. I highly recommend if you go there to try the following:I'm on a vegetarian buzz at the moment and in my opinion nobody does vegetarian food like the Indians do. It's the best.... I ordered Paneer Tikka for a starter which was delicious. Great flavours, served on a bed of salad greens. Then I had the Malai Kofta which were light balls of potato, cheese, fruit and nuts. The texture was similar to Iddli which I adore! These were served in a rich sweet curry.
I was full but managed to also eat Gulab Jamun which were the best I've ever eaten, served with a small portion of icecream. A perfect way to finish a meal.
Deepa Hardeep
nice food good service chef is very respect fully.

We used the deal voucher for our dinner here. A very pleasant experience we had. The restaurant is a little small but the atmosphere and staff are nice. We had the banquet for 2, which had lots of food. Absolutely loved the mango kulfi. Will go back again.

This would one of the best Indian restaurants around. They have redecorated and refurnished since I was last there but still retained their excellent staff and fantastic chef which is very good news.

The menu is varied and every dish we have had over the years never disappoints, although we tend to stick to our favourites. The males in the group thought the beer was good and everything was good valued for money. The place seemed to be full of regulars which says it all.
Keith Eades
The restaurant was a little off the beaten track, but worth the effort.

Had a very pleasant meal with three other diners. We all tried something different, the general view was very good and would come back. Such a great choice of unusual dishes, had a hard decision with which one to chose. None of us were disappointed.

Staff were very welcoming and attentive, looking forward to next visit. Will starting narrowing my choice beforehand !
Martin Lewis
For the price you pay,its as good as it gets. Cant compare
the ambience to a western restaurant where you could pay upwards of $40 for a steak and some fried chips, but hey this is real food and we enjoy it from time to time in this restaurant.
Lou
Food is ok - quite expensive for what you get. We ordered food to be delivered at an additional cost of $5 - we live within a 2km radius. Food arrived about 50 minutes after ordering online. One of the breads was missing so we rang and they said they would deliver in 5-10 minutes. 40 minutes later still no bread so we call again and are told they're 1 minute away. 5 minutes later...they finally arrive. The delivery guy was sorry but no refund was offered and in reality what do we need a naan bread for an hour after eating our meal?
Noelia Gonzalez Quiñones
We enjoyed a lovely dinner tonight for my mum's 50th birthday. The place is quite nice, although the chairs are quite strange and creaky and hard to move. The service wasn't perfect - they took ages to bring us the water and it was hard to grab their attention at times - but it wasn't awful either and it was friendly. As for the food, it was very nice. The butter chicken was delicious, as well as the other curries we had, and and the naan breads were very yummy too. Not to mention that all the mains were only $10 each - super cheap and the food was good quality. Overall we had a good experience and I would be happy to recommend this restaurant.
David
Expected better customer service , food took a while to come out.Overall the food was good value . tables could do with a clean ... happy to get take away but no keen on the dine in experience
Joshua Walker
Food is great, service isn't great.

The ambiance of the restaurant is nice, although the tables are always very dirty and the chairs are awful, creaky and hard.

Wanted dessert menu, however was not offered the menu at all after finishing the mains.

Would never dine in the restaurant again, maybe grab some takeout...
Jasmine Banipal
Awesome food and excellent service, best indian restaurant in Auckland. I have been going here for about 3 years now and I still prefer them over any other restaurant.
Cyndy Price
We've been here a few times. Concern with them using bottled chopped garlic as you could taste the preservative used in the cheaper kind. Table cloths look as if they are not changed much as each time we've gone, I could swear the same dirt is on them. All in all, the food is good their lunch menu cheap and plentiful. Only wished they cleaned up the table cloth thing .
Ted Boult
I never grant excellent! But in this case I make an exception! Wonderful genuine Indian food!

I am a regular at all the major nite spice's in Auckland. The food is excellent well cooked and tender. The service is great, waiters are great they treat you nicely. The food here and price is just awesome. One of the best Indian restaurants in my opinion.
Marilyn Williams
The meal was delicious. Can not fault the food or the service. However was disappointed I had to pay a corkage fee when I had purchased my spirits from their bar, and had not shared the wine my friends took in. I did voice my opinion on paying my bill but they did not seem interested.
Teresa
Cant fault the quality and price of this food, a good night had by all
Iam
I'm not really a big fan of indian food but this place was really nice. The waiter was extremely helpful with any questions that any of us had. Also very economical as they had specials on that night.

This was our first visit in nite spice. Very poor services not even a warm welcome. It was disgrace to the restaurant. But we went there got a table of 5 and sat. “Their comes the waiter and asked wat would u like” so we ordered our food and waited. After 5 min there comes our drink very slow. We nearly finished our first drinks after waiting 12 to 20 mins of wait before reaching our food. Second point. Very poor. This just ruined our whole dinner. When we finished we went to the counter and the waiter asked us how it was sir. He was so rude and was talking so dim that we couldn’t understand his words. So we paid and went off. We did not even have any desert after looking at the service and the poor quality food. So we went to Mc Donald’s and took a Sunday ice cream which we enjoyed the best that night.
Sahib
Nite Spice is a place where people come to relax, have a good time, and enjoy a great meal.We did too much enjoy wth all the m8s and enjoy our yum food... I tried all their four branches in manukau city,Mt Eden, Newmarket and in Torbay too..All are best from each other..When we walk in the door, they greeted us by a warm atmosphere, subtle music, and friendly and courteous staff.......
Host was hot,,was smiley faces staff...too good...i will recommennd my more friends..
Gud luck..
