Review La Petite Fourchette - Auckland Central

Hong Pan
Good pastry there. I have tried couples of them (cherry, hazelnut, walnut, fruit) and all nice sweet. Also recommend the tiramisu

The fact that they open early at 7am is worthwhile for travelling to work early. Customer service warm and friendly. Variety of patisserie to choose from. Delicious brekky bun. Almond croissant with chocolate oozing out....mouth watering. Definitely recommend and will come back again.

Went for Le Paris Brest and the choux pastry was perfect, texture and taste wise. The crunchy candied pistachio was a perfect touch to it. However, the praline filling could do with a little less sweetness as I found it a bit satiated towards the last bites, but again I feel that way about most sweet desserts so that’s a personal take. Still really enjoyed it regardless. Staff wasn’t very welcoming but was not too bad.

Met up here with a friend for an afternoon tea. It is a bit far from the city but the 75 bus to Wynyard Quarter gets you very close. They have a range of different pastries to choose from and they all look really good. We only had pastries but would have like to try their croissant. The chocolate eclair was nice but the pastry was a bit soggy. The chocolate L'lnaya was really good. Nicely tempered chocolate on top with the creamy mousse and crispy pastry shell at the bottom. It had a nicer chocolate flavour than the eclair. Would be a place worth visiting if you have a sweet tooth.

Ordered Chocolate Tart for family's birthday cake. Tart was dark rich and not too sweet. It was perfect treat. I sliced 8 which was very good value.

If your mouth is dry, come by here to immediately start salivating from all of the little dessert pastries, biscuits, and bread. The only problem about visiting is not being able to maintain self-control from ordering one of everything haha. However, guess should note that on a rainy day at least, there's very limited seating inside if you're in a group of 4 or so that want to sit and eat lunch.

Fresh bread filled with a delicious cheese. The croque-monsieur was beautiful. The star is the Le Mille-Feuille absolutely perfect. The tiramisu was amazing. Love it. Worth a visit.

French patisserie is so awesome! I love every single of them and we both ate them up!!! Fast service and good coffee. Just don't like the take away plates&cutlery

When you are greeted with “Bonjour, comment ca va?” You know you have walked into something truly French. 🇫🇷 We ordered the Calamansi Tart (on cafe owner’s recommendation) from their tempting long cabinet display of Gallic delicacies, all are so beautifully presented 🌸. Calamansi is a citrus fruit similar to lemon and limes. It is covered with torched meringue, the sweet burned flavour mingling with the tartness beautifully. Have the tart with a coffee - perfection👌🏼. If you want a little French indulgence in Auckland, check out this place on Daldy Street in Wynyard Quarter!!

Discovered La Petite Fourchette through an officemate’s recommendation. Tried their quiche lorraine and my first impression was that it was the best quiche lorraine I’ve tasted in my life (so far)! 🤩 I wasn’t sure if I was just hungry then or I just haven’t tasted enough quiche, so went here again one weekend for brunch and yep, still the best quiche ever 😍 Barista was also super nice, seemed like she knew most of the customers and was chatting with them while making coffee. Coffee was also good; I usually get coconut flat white and prefer a milk brand which they unfortunately don’t use. I don’t know how she did it, but she made my coffee taste real good! She was also nice and attentive enough to cut the quiche in half as my partner and I were sharing. Highly recommended and will definitely be back!

the desserts they serve are of good quality standard! the mille feuille was yummy. there was a hint of bitter sweet at the end after each mouth. the raspberry la fleur was good, hard on the outside soft on the inside. the tiramisu was missing a few components like maybe rum probably? it was good just feel like something was lacking. overall, worth the try if you’re nearby.

Food was amazing and I’m glad there was a croquet monsieur vegetarian edition. It was delicious . To be honest it’s pretty disappointing that all the cutlery and serve wear was single use and involved single use plastic . There are better alternatives that don’t mean you have to hire someone to wash the dishes

Lucky us, treated to work team dessert date! Such a selection: eclairs, madeline, apple tart, dark chocolate cake... the staff are the sweetest around! Perfect place also for birthday shouts!

I think this place is owned by same owner of a French restaurant in St heliers call La Fourchette. Bought 3 desserts I like the Tiramisu it’s really good but the other two are average. My favourite French pastry now is Vaniye in Parnell as the top one closed years ago call Heart of flavour.

Been here a couple of times, their croissants and le mille-feuille (especially the caramel flavor) are the best. Have only tried their cabinet food out. Quality of food is perfect but there could be room for improvement on service at the till.
I got completely disappointed that my little sister got a telling off at pick up for ordering late. Unfortunately, my sister did not get her name but she was the barista today at Wynyard Store.

If this is an issue and the shop cant accommodate early pick ups or late orders, the shop should change the available pick up times on their website.

As much as I love their food, the service has completely put me off. The service is appalling and rude. YOU SHOULD NOT TELL OFF YOUR CUSTOMERS!!!

The raspberry cake looks great but doesn't taste great, seems like it's made with a significant amount of gelatine which is not very pleasant. Also, the base of the cake is quite hard and the cutlery provided is made of plastic. Feels pretty clear that the person that made the dessert hasn't sat down to eat it with a plastic fork. From customer experience perspective, it was quite bad having to battle with the food using a bending fork.

The coconut cake on the other hand is super tasty with a perfect balance of sweetness, coconut taste and consistency.

The coffee was way too hot and tasted slightly burnt.

Went for breakfast on a Saturday around 11.30 and the cafe was quite busy, but managed to get a table. No one greeted us when we entered but then the service was polite later on.

We ordered a coffee and orange juice which came out very quickly and the wait for food was not too much longer. We ordered the smashed avo and poached eggs on sourdough, and the potato galette with bacon. My potato galette was more like a potato patty but was flavoured very well, would’ve been nice to have some relish like in the other dish to cut the taste. Also wasn’t a fan of how the spinach was raw rather than wilted. Both dishes were good portion sizes and the prices were reasonable. We also tried a lemon meringue tart which was very good, not too sweet and not too sour.

Overall good meal, would recommend and come back again.

Had the chicken quiche, lemon madeleines and chocolate eclairs. Amazing, the quiche was so light and fluffy and not too greasy. perfectly seasoned. Would love to go back and try many more items in the shelf!

They do a really good hot chocolate here. Quiche was just okay. Wasn’t heated up long enough so had cold bits in the middle. Staff were really friendly. Great that they are environmentally friendly too with their compostable packaging.

Both times I visited have been impressed
pastries are presented nicely and taste is good with not too much sugar

they only provide plastic cutlery which can be little hard to use but it's all about the taste for me as most other simular outlets just don't cut it flavour wise.

Keep up the good work guys :)

Had a morning walk around the area and stumbled upon La Petite Fourchette.
Fantastic ambiance and I love the open concept kitchen where the pastries are being made.

Good coffee at reasonable price. Haven't had a chance to try their food yet, but a friend went there and loved every bit of their desserts. I'll be back!

Hmmm... the first impression this place giving me was nice environment and dessert looks tempting. However, their trash bins are keeping inside the store and seems they are not empty daily. I have seen fruit flies and flies flying near the trash bins and counter while waiting for my coffee. I come here quite often for coffee but they never tell me about their coffee card until I’ve found out myself. This is one thing quite disappointing me. Obviously the staffs here are treating people speaking same language with them so much better, especially the barista lady at counter. Also happened that I paid for large coffee but she keeps talking to her friend (in their language) and ended up giving me the small coffee (and still happily talking to the friend). I just grabbed and didn’t notice until I have left the shop. :(

Great place, vibrant staff, delicious and carefully crafted foods. The only critique I have for this place is the limited seating area. Best almond lattes you'll find in the city and authentic tasting breads and pastries. I would highly recommend their mushroom miso quiche.

Only place in Auckland that does a jambon-beurre remotely close to those in France, even though it's not a boulangerie i think the baguette here is up there with the best bakeries around (Amano/Olafs etc).

Délicieux mercibeaucoup

It was ok...but wasn't nice as I expected.May be I expected too much.I've wanted to go there since I found nice pictures on Instagram.
Coffee was just ok.I mean taste good but looks bad. They just have takeaway cups, paper plate, plastic cutlery even eat
in.I was a bit disappointed it wasn't so bad though.I definitely prefer Amano's croissans!!

The cakes in the cabinet are a visual delight but we were after savoury on this visit. The breakky buns were so good - lots of scrambled egg with bacon and tomato in a large bun warmed through nicely. Mr 4 year old demolished his croque monsieur with no leftovers - he even ate his crusts! We will be coming back to try the cakes next time.

Desserts and coffee are lovely. Just quite disappointed how they only serve them in takeaway cups and disposable plates and cutleries. Could be a better experience if they were serve in decent plates and cups. 😔

The desserts here are to die for..this is one of my fav French bakeries. I judge a bakery by its croissant and baguette. Its baguette is definitely one of my faves. The croissant is gooooood too and sell out quite quickly.

A super cute French inspired dessert place near the Viaduct. It was a bit hard getting there since it’s a little far from central but it around the area near the fish market.

There was a wide range of desserts and patisserie to select from. I got the hazelnut flavour and my friend got the Dolce Caramel. Both of them tasted really good with it not being too sweet.

A downside would be the fact that the desserts were served on paper plates and plastic utensils which isn’t that eco friendly.

There wasn’t a lot of indoor seating and it was a little cold sitting outside but nonetheless it was still a really nice experience.

Overall I would want to go back to try out more flavours!

Atmosphere: 4/5
Customer Service: 4.5/5
Taste: 4.5/5
Absolutely love this place and I’ve gotten so many people here including family and friends and everyone loves it. The rice pudding (riz au lait) and the Calamansi tart are my favourite!!

Cafe with beautiful French breads cakes and pastries and friendly staff. Unfortunately we got there just after 2pm so a lot of items had already sold. Check out the photos, great treats! The seating is very limited...but you are by the water so go for takeaway and get in the sun!

Very lovely little cafe with friendly and knowledgeable staff! Coffee 3/5 and macaroons 4.5/5! Beautiful selection of pastries and we could watch the chefs baking a lovely sight!

This is such a cute pastry and dessert stop and it's exactly what the viaduct was missing! It's similar to Amano in Britomart where there are a few types of pastries as well as a big range of desserts including my favourite Mille feuille! As we went in the morning we ended up opting for the plain pain aux raisins and a salmon croissant to go with coffee. The pastries were made fresh during the day and it was super flakey. The pastry was also very buttery and had a creamy after taste! I'd definitely love to go back and try their desserts or quiches next time.

I'm a big fan of desserts so I decided try out La Petite Fourchette as they are new in town!

First impression, the bakery shop looks elegant from the outside, wood structure of the building gives out warm feeling. Inside, the shop was halfly setting up, kitchen side is still under contructing.

The counter sets up like other coffee shop with coffee machine and cabinet foods. All the desserts and savoury goods looked really pretty but the let down was you could hardly see through the glass as it was foggy all the way though!

Despite the visual let down, I decided to try some of the pretty desserts. I ordered Vanilla tart, Praline Chox, Mango and Passionfruit Roule.
The best out of the three was Mango and Passionfruit Roule, very interesting with the mango yolk on top, but I couldn't taste the passionfruit at all as the cocunut overpower it with biscuit as a base. The other two were pretty average, didn't taste as good as its look. They all need more seasoning and depth of flavour.

Another point to raise was the plate and cuttlery were plastic, more like a take away shop than a proper bakery shop like Miann and Milse! Using the plastic utensils didn't do justice for all the beutiful desserts. In addition, my plastic fork broke when I tried to cut through the biscuit base.

The service was very messy, there were 2 waitresses/baristas in the front. They didn't greet me when I entered or exited like they did with other customers! I couldn't tell who has already placed order and who hasn't. The one that served me just automatically assume that I would take away without checking before hand. Both of them were eating while the customers were there too.

Overall, I wouldn't recommend this shop to others. Given it's only just opened but Miann and Milse weren't this disorganized when they were first opened.

Ambience: outside 5/5, inside 3/5
Service: 1/5
Desserts: 2.5/5

What a nice spot for a weekend afternoon tea. We strolled around Wynyard on Saturday afternoon and made a stop in this beautiful cafe.

We ordered pain au chocolate and miso&mushroom quiche. Accompanied by beautiful African tea. I thought I tried one of the best quiche, love the texture, egg still soft and moist, only thing we would prefer more miso taste. We also love our pain au choc. It took us a while to decide what to order as they have too many beautiful cakes in the cabinets.

We love the space and atmosphere inside. Even there are only a few little table for a sit down. We definitely be back to try other cakes. Nyum!!! Thank youuuu.
