Went to the cafe at 2pm, probably a very quiet time but staff was polite not friendly but perfectly amicable and took my order and delivered food well. Ginger slice was bomb as F! The pulled lamb burger was good but unsure if food was 10/10 or if I was starving, either way it sure did hit the spot and I’d Defo come back. Ice Americano was good too. Thanks team

This is the second time I go to The Corner Cafe. I had a keto omelette with spinash, salmon and mushrooms. It was very tasty, and a good size, considering I was quite hungry. My colleagues had other meals that were also nourishing, and fair price. The ambience was quiet, we could talk. The staff was, friendly, the toilet was clean. Street parking. A place to go back.

Lovely tasty food, reasonable priced and very friendly staff. Went there first time two weeks ago, randomly and enjoyed it a lot. Good tasting iced coffee aswell, also Gluten-free options available.

Lovely, adorable cafe with friendly staff, cozy environment, and tasty food. I got the corn fritters with bacon and my mum got scrambled eggs with tomatos and chorizo. Very yummy and perfect portions.

We left the zoo and needed somewhere nearby to eat. This nice-looking cafe popped up with really great reviews, so we gave it a shot. It lived up to its ratings. I had the pulled lamb burger and the white chocolate oreo frappe, and it was all amazingly delicious, with friendly and prompt service. It's also all so affordable and not overpriced at all. I highly recommend popping in here if you're in the area.

Great food, really enjoyed it, will definitely be back

If you love organic, then this is the coffee shop for you! Not only do they roast their own coffee beans but they also have lots of other organic options.

Had an amazing experience here. The food is cooked the "Kiwi" way, if you don't know how the "Kiwi" way is done, then come to this restaurant. In here you will experience light music, delightfull staff, Amazing food and a extrodenery experience. We are traveling here from S.A.

This is my go to stop for a coffee and treat to eat when visiting my Aunt at Selwyn Village Rest Home. Coffee is organic and good. Treats are delicious and much loved. The staff always welcoming and helpful. I have not sat in the dining area, usually just wait on cushioned benches and read the interesting events or offers on the community notice board they have put up on the wall.

Most delicious food I’ve had for a very long time, don’t be misled by it’s unassuming exterior.

Amazing cafe! Came here today with my partner and we ordered the eggs bene and brioche French toast, absolutely guttered that I couldn’t finish everything off as the food was cooked to perfection! Hot chocolate in a bowl is a big fave of mine as well, highly recommend to anyone who wants to stop in and has time for luxury hot drink 😊 great customer service as always!

The Corner Cafe was my go to years ago. Lovely owners, good coffee and pretty good food. My have things changed. The 1st thing I noticed walking in is the lack of customers and this is peak luchtime! Not a good sign and really I should have turned and walked out but thought I'd give it a go as it now has new owners. The Corner Cafe is tired and rundown now. The Corner cafe is also not that clean. The black chairs scattered about are dirty with greasy fingerprints all over them. There is dirt about that should have been wiped down months ago. The wooden floor out the side is absolutley filthy. Something is alive and growing across the window. The dark wood tables, black chairs and general dreary atmosphere doesnt help. However I thought maybe the new owners put their all energy into the food which would make up for the lacklustre first impression. No. They dont. At all. In fact the new owners seem very much like they have been cutting corners. A lot of corners.I had the eggs bene with salmon on kumara rosti. Eggs were ok. Kumara rosti was left in the deep fryer too long but was just ok. Salmon tasted like the cheap stuff from countdown. But the thing that I am now an hour later still feeling ill from was the hollandaise sauce. It was almost white, tasted like a mixture of toxic plastic and powdered milk and was sickly sweet. I asked the owner how they make their hollandaise and was informed it came out of a packet. Either the owners are attempting to chef when they clearly cant - or their fry cook pulled the wool over their eyes about his skills when he got the job. This is such a shame. This was once a good cafe.

Delicious healthy meals. Perfect for family’s, outdoor area is great for kids, even has toilet facilities too. Food is a tad pricy but worth the treat.

Seem's like everyone's given mixed reviews but I absolutely love this little place! Amazing food - I never usually eat anything with Balsamic Vinegar on it but the contrasting flavors worked a treat and the dish was absolutely marvelous! Service was amazing with smiles and always double checking on us! Best brekkie ever - would thoroughly recommend this 'lil place to anyone :)

Coffee just okay, was hoping for better flavor quality for the price. Friendly service. It's open early and close to my house so I want to like it. But I won't be going again, as I had an undercooked scone for takeaway. The entire middle was inedible-- gooey, uncooked dough. Shit happens, I thought, I'll just let them know. When I alerted them to this on the next visit they claimed the chef said this was "cheese"- but, no, I know what cheese tastes like v uncooked floury dough. Either way, when a repeat customer tells you something they already paid for was inedible, you give them a replacement item (at bare minimum a discount) to keep them happy and coming back. Would've been a nominal cost no them, but now they've lost my business.

Do not judge a book by it's cover. This cafe doesn't look like much from the outside, but looks can be deceiving. We come here for coffee multiple times during the weekend and it is always good. I haven't had food here, but the cabinet food and what I have seen coming out of the kitchen looks delicious. Lovely staff and great service. The only thing that would improve this place would be a makeover of the entrance area as it is a bit dark and awkward in shape and size. The rooms out the back where the dining is are nice though!

The food was great, the service was great and the coffee with caramel syrup was just divine. I don't know what syrup they use but it was far superior to others I have tasted. We will definitely be back for this.

Been here before many times. Today we came here on a quiet Monday. The Plus comment was they serve gluten free cake. This is so important nowadays with allergy conscious clients.

I had the blackberry cheese cake served with yogurt or cream. Big generous slice and delicious.

In the middle of summer, in January, it was very warm. Nice decor with lots of plants.

Just a little minor note, it has a child friendly with toys nook. You have to be very tolerance with the noise. We had to move because a child was playing too loudly.

Great cafe, very friendly staff. Food is top quality, I'm a local and have never been disappointed. Great coffee too! Bacon, chicken and avocado salad is amazing.

Just your regular standard neighbourhood cafe. Nothing spectacular, but not terrible either.

The omelette is good, as are the fritters. Coffee is pretty good and all the milk is organic which is a nice touch.

Ok, but wouldn't rush back.

Came in for lunch with families, a lovely local cafe ! Nice settings, was told the summer menu was on for the first day. Had Angus Scotch which was beautifully cooked, nice and juicy. Mum had lamb salad was great too! Sister had ugly bagel with smashed avo capsicum salsa which was amazing! Coffee was still excellent, best in Pt Chev ! Super friendly staff ! Would definitely come again!

Reading the reviews here it looks like people have an unpleasant experiences here. I for one had amazing coffee here! Came a while back a few times, this place holds very happy memories for me, and I always remember the place as having amazing coffee, the staff were lovely, a nice open area and food food also!

Went here for lunch with my boyfriend and mother in law. Cute vibe and nice service. Waited a long time for our food however was worth the wait. I ordered a banana smoothie- was sickly sweet and made from a banana flavoring and ice (no real banana). I ended up getting a refund as was undrinkable. The waitress was lovely and offered me a refund- I didn't have to ask. Everything apart from that was great! Would go there again. Tyler Leyland

Very average breakfast. I had the bacon and eggs with tomato. They forgot the tomato and then brought it out once I had finished the rest. I was with a big group and even though we had preordered our meals all came out at different times. Coffee was very weak.

I've been here in the past and today was pretty quiet for a Thursday morning catchup with my workmates. Now green on the outside, the interior decor is still tidy and inoffensive (love the burlap sacks on the wall). Lovely touch with Percy Sledge playing in the background too. I had the scrambled eggs with salmon which were delicious but totally overwhelmed by the saltiness of the feta. The coffee was delicious however. A trusty suburban local.

Nothing special with the food, you get what you order. Coffee is good, team are friendly. Good poached eggs. Can be a bit cold unless fire is going.
Mary
What a terrible experience.....first time having lunch, my eggs were cold and raw and the spinach was uncooked. The service was slow and the staff were rude and flippent. It was very cold as they could not get the heaters to work. People work hard for their money and the hospitality industry needs to recognise and respect this.

I have been twice recently to this cafe and can't say enough about the staff and the food. Will definitely go there again. Not sure why the previous reviews were so bad.

Went to The Corner Cafe for Mother's Day breakfast .... normally bustling, and crowed we turned up and thought, wow everyone must be having a sleep in. As it turns out the locals obviously knew this place had gone down the drain. And has new owners! The coffee was average, food and service terrible. I ordered Pancakes with fresh fruit salad, maple syrup and vanilla cream. Turns up 2 minutes later (can't complain about the speed) until you cut into them, they are cold - obviously made previously and reheated poorly .... making pancakes isn't rocket science!!! The fresh fruit salad was old, soft and so minuscule you almost missed it as off cuts for the rubbish and no dressing. Very poor effort. I won't be going back, which is disappointing as this used to be a great little local.

Before getting a coffee, I decided to have a small portion of the roasted vegetables fist - big mistake. Some parts were super squashy (orange kumara), others not cooked at all (red kumara). Some I couldn't chew at all. The burnt sauce that surrounded the veggies made it very unappealing. I managed to finish almost all of the small portion which my stomach didn't appreciate at all. Once I left, my stomach started complaining. I went back to warn them that the veggies were not only cook badly but that there was also something wrong which had upset my stomach - maybe the feta cheese. They looked apologetically and said they would talk to the chef but that was it. The $5 surely wasn't a lot which I had paid but I didn't need to pay a stomach bug with it as well.

Unfortunately I couldn't even stay to check out their coffee. But if that is as good as some say, then they should just stick to that.

I had lunch at this cafe last Friday and found it to be shabby and not very clean. I had a vegetarian foccacia roll which was horrible - the bread roll was stale and it had very little to fill it.
I would not recommend this cafe to anyone.
Tania
I love The Corner Cafe in Point Chevalier and not just because its a stone throw away. Friendly staff have taken the time to remember my order from the last time. Yes it's a Chai Latte and delicious and the chocolate ricies are devine not to mention the artwork. I like to pop in early to rev up my day. Tania

Good coffee, lovely staff but many parts of my vegetarian breakfast were inedible. The potato rosti were really disgusting (surely if they tasted these themselves they wouldn't continue to serve them), spinach tough (how?), the feta tasted off. Only one piece of toast on a $19 plate. All other ingredients were boring - apart from the mushrooms (all three slices (well-cooked and tasty).
The cream served with my chocolate brownie (average) also tasted off.
A dismal waste of money over-all. this was a shame as my daughter was shouting me and felt sad it was not a nice breakfast.

i always like reading the negative
its funny how the negatives in one review were more based on location and local surroundings than the food itself! Although i admit location does play a role, you will no doubt get a lot of people that travel for food.
anyhow I have lived in various countries and in various parts of Auckland. This cafe is relatively new and doing well in an upcoming suburb, i'm glad its not too quite, it has some atmosphere. I find the service very good and the food was above average
Julia
Hi there man can i just say LOVE YOU CORNER CAFE, its always lovely to go to a cafe who actually delivers not only great customer service, but the best and i mean it when i say THE BEST CARAMEL LATTE!!!!!!!!!! ME AND MY SISTERS A TOTAL CRITICS WHEN IT COMES TO COFFEE. and can i just say that without a miss it is beautiful! and to the lady who put it in the review about the eggs honestly shut up you should of just walked to the front and told them then politely asked for a refund, i'm sure they would of appreciated the feedback to try and improve and also would of been ok to refund. Obviously you must be from a competeitor or a friend of lol!!! but i will try that cafe and see for myself and if it aint good i will let them know and i will be shore to tell everyone that comes with me to put up a review and if it aint good we will be shore to tell them who refered us lol!!!! i hate people who complain....just tell the owners so they can improve and get a refund otherwise shut the hell up and put it where the sun dont shine. i mean if you found something really gross in the food it would have been understandeble but really come on.
Vishnu
I read a review on here weeks ago it looks like it was taken down for being too harsh, or most likely the owners complained because it was spot on lol. If i recall correctly it was talking about how bad this cafe's egg Benedict is or was, and unfortunately i went anyway, tried it, and who ever wrote that review was on the money, the sauce was gross. I did however goto Ro Cafe and it was cheap, clean, quite, and the Eggs Benedict was amazing so amazing.

I love The Corner Cafe - it is a great cafe open early always delivering excellent hot coffee every time. I have found eggs to always be cooked perfectly. The fire makes it a great cozy place in the cooler months & the outdoor conservatory area is ideal in summer. I also find it a handy cafe to take my toddler as you can sit in the conservatory area and shut the door to keep the kids from running away! Allows you to actually focus on your conversation with your friends! It would be even better if Alex pulled a few toys together in a basket! Hint... hint! Magazines are always recent as is the the daily newspaper. Staff are great and friendly and remember their regular clientele.
Nicola
I had lunch at the corner cafe with my brother and Nan a couple of weeks ago.
The staff were very friendly and especially kind and patient with my Nan.
It was a chilly day and the fire had been going so it was nice and cosy.

My brother and his girlfriend had the soup which they both enjoyed, Nan loved the lambs fry and bacon, and I had the vege breakfast, which had the most divine mushrooms in balsamic reduction.

I had walked past this place many times as a Pt Chev local but had never been in. Will definitely go back soon.
Nick

Jules
Excellent coffee, great, friendly, well informed & happy staff. A real gem of a local cafe, with a diverse menu & clientele.

Very well worth a look in if you're in the Chev.

Oh ... and the baked goods are to die for!

What a fantastic cafe! Definitely the best in Pt Chevalier and I would go far as to say one of the best in Auckland. The friendly staff, and range of fantastic food that caters for all ages and appetites - even fussy little 2 year old girls who love fluffies and fairy cakes:-) Recommend the mushrooms on toast for brekkie - not to mention the great coffee....the atmosphere and decore is relaxed, yet professional....and the friendly staff who do go out of their way to ensure you have a great dining experience are fantastic....there is only 1 place to dine in Pt Chev and that is the Corner Cafe - if you don't you are truly missing a fantastic experience.
Sarah
I have to say this is one of my fav cafes in Auckland. The staff are friendly and offer great service, the cafe is clean and offers a great place to relax over a good coffee, even on a cold winters day as they have a lovely fire place. The food is always superb and they offer a great range of Gluten Free meals too! Eggs Benedict is the best.
Keep up the good work guys!
I'l be in soon for my fix of gluten free eggs Benedict.
Thanks
