Review Cafe Bbq Duck - Auckland Central

Daenah Costales
Really nice place and good food! The place is not cramped, has nice decorations and is pretty clean. Ordered the roast duck on rice, 'curry puffs', duck feet, and pork of noodles. Price matches big food servings and it taste good but after awhile it starts to get salty.... 2 people could easily half a dish if they're not super hungry. Some items on menu such as curry puffs turned out to just be samosas that you can buy in bulk which was pretty disappointing. Would come back to try their other dishes

Very good. My son Lyam the vegetable enjoy šŸ‘

Had their roasted duck on rice with cold garlic cucumber and OHMYGOD! The taste was so nostalgic and just as good as the duck I had frequently throughout my childhood. Friendly staff and great portions! Loved the casual atmosphere and of course, the great food!

It was 8.30 pm and some eateries were already closed. We walked around in the city centre and found here, ordered a special set menu - two soups, two bowl of rice, two roasted meat to choose, sweet and sour pork and stir-fired mixed vegetable. They were very tasty and the portions were enormous.

Wongcock Cafe used to be my go to for Chinese, but the chef/owners changed, so a friend recommended me Cafe BBQ Duck. The portions are hug, full of meat, and flavours are great. The Sweet and Sour Pork is a little less sweet than normal, but I like that. Young Zhou Fried Rice is also stand out. The BBQ Pork on Rice looks great too.

I love Duck cooked by Asian Restaurants as they just know how to do it right. This back street restaurantā€™s duck dishes is just as good as any iā€™ve had at the Sky City Casino Restaurants but a lot less expensive due to the trimmings. Great for a quick dinner before going partying! Enjoy!

This is probably best value n taste in Cbd for HK food. Omg huge fan of HK food. Especially bbq pork on rice. Especially they have daily special 8 dollars soy chicken on rice that I tried today. The sauce is amazing which not over sweet, rice is soft but not too slimy , chicken is so tender with many flavor. Plus look the amount of food for 8 dollars value. Seriously one of the best. I donā€™t normally give out 5 star but this is exceptional with that value in auckland Cbd. Come n give a try. U got nothing to lose. Have I also mentioned they come with great warming soup for welcome entree for free to warm ur stomachs first n open ur appetite. Yes that is right. Wait wait wait, have I talked about the customer service which is awesome too. Totally amazing food experience.

What we ordered: - Roast duck on rice $21 I loved this restaurant so much! The portions were extremely generous so I definitely felt like I was getting my money's worth. The duck was also so crispy, fatty and juicy, and the broccoli and bok choy were cooked to perfection! It's such a tasty and affordable place to go if you're in the cbd.

Yummy roast duck, roast pork and crispy pork. Big portion. Good value for money. Waitress probably needs a little bit more of customer service

Authentic Cantonese cuisine, big portion, good price, definitely a hidden gem at the city center.
Jarinda Engelbrecht
Good sized portion for two people. Found the duck and sauce delicious. Definitely a place to visit if you like some hands on eating. If you like lots of crispy duck skin you will be very pleased. Unfortunately we let most of it go to waste.

Best crispy pork in town. I love how fast they serve the food. I had a free soy chicken as well, with hot soup and hot tea. šŸ™Œ Price is fit for the mealšŸ˜Š #CafeBbqDuck #Bbq #CrispyPork

Absolutely delicious!!!! Food served hot and fast, enormous portions for a very cheap price. Can't go wrong, reminds me of being in China (don't expect "typical westernised Chinese food - this is more typical real food). The duck was amazing, so good I can't even.

Got the roast pork and Peking duck. It was a lot of food for 2 people and we took some home. The roast pork was slightly tough

Overall, it was great. The shop was clean and quite busy on night time. The prices was not expensive. 15Jun21

Only went in as a last resort-it was the only affordable place open. Surprised by really huge portion sizes, impossible to leave still hungry. Menu was incredibly long, millions of dishes to choose from. I enjoyed my meal. Staff was a friendly man who started nice conversations.

i only discovered this place when strolling down high street one day, so came in to try the kung pao chook and hor fun dish here and goodness for a medium size dishes was quite a generous serving for such and had to take half home, i wonder what the large dishĀ may look like, could be double in size maybe.
Ā Complimentary soup given for starters too in which we're grateful for and typical in any Hong kong/Cantonese style eateries.

Iā€™m a regular here at bbq duck cafe the one on high street. Always love their friendly staff who greets you upon arrival and always come up with tea and free soup before you even ordered! I always go for the three combination of meats on rice/fried rice cause itā€™s simply their best to offer! I am obsessed with their spring onion sauce which normally comes with the roast chicken. I also love their traditional beef fried rice noodle! 100/10 would recommend!

My new go-to chinese food fix. Not much crowded like and has a decent serving portion. I would give them 5 if they provide the chili garlic sauce.
Roast BBQ duck is honestly one of my favourite types of meat. I can't believe that when I was younger, my family would always order it and I wouldn't eat it because I felt so bad for the duck... šŸ¦† Until I tried it one day and realised how delicious ducks were šŸ˜‚ My whole family thought I was crazy for not eating it and I 1000% agree with them, foolish Yu Yu. I ordered the Roast Duck stirred noodles ($14.80) and we also ordered the BBQ Pork on rice ($10). They gave us free soup and it was light, flavourful and refreshing. The roast duck was juicy and the portion was very generous. The duck did have a bit of bones in it but honestly I wasn't bothered, I'm one of those Asians that kind of like bones šŸ˜… The noodles had great texture and I enjoyed the soy sauce based sauce that coated it. I do think they need to put a bit more sauce on the plate because it didn't coat all of the noodles (TRIGGERING A MINI OCD šŸšØ). The Bok Choy wasn't too soft and was still crunchy. My boyfriend demolished all of the BBQ Pork so.. He must've really liked it šŸ˜œ The portion for my noodles was HUGE and I couldn't finish half of it so I took it away and stir fried it the next day with veges and Yu Yu's secret sauce ingredients and damn it was even better the next day šŸ˜ Last photo is my food creation šŸ˜† The service was actually really good and the staff were very attentive!

Roast Duck Stirred Noodles: 8/10 but the next day it was a youwishyoucould'vetriedsome/10 šŸ˜

Ambience: 7/10 āœØ

Customer Service: 10/10 šŸ”„

The food volume and price is great. It fills us up so much. Going here with a group of friends is nice. One of my favorite thing to order is a plate of ducks to share amongst friends

They offer some very good specials , the one I had this time is soy chicken rice , only $8 and the portion is huge , not stingy on the meat , they did mention this special is already less meat then the standard! Everyone who dine in also get served a bowl of soup ! Lovely for a cold day! Other specials include $10 bbq pork rice and $9 curry chicken rice , and these are on throughout the day not just for lunch .

Yet to try their standard menu cause their specials are too good , haha...

Omg! I ordered this Wonton noodle soup on a cold rainy week day! It was delicious šŸ˜‹ the broth was on point! Such a big portion but well worth it and the price as well. Plus the complimentary tea and soup upon arrival was šŸ‘ŒDefinitely will be returning again. Customer service was awesome!

This is one of our cheap go to places when we canā€™t find something new to try in the city. With Cafe BBQ Duck I guess itā€™s hard to go wrong, most of their offering is spot on for our taste buds and wallet. We have been here numerous times and in all of those visits, everything was spot on. Usually we order set menuā€™s and they offer freebies like side dished but we never visited this place for a full-on dinner menu up until now. This last visit of ours, our group was quite big in numbers, we are a group of eleven adults and nine kids, in total there were twenty of us, space might be limited at this place but the people operating this place always makes a way.

Got the 2 person special ($14.50 per person), had the a couple of times and it never disappoints. The portion is MASSIVE, comes with 2 massive bowls of rice, bowl of soup, sweet & sour pork, and stir fried veggies.
1. The sweet and sour pork is probably the best in Auckland, itā€™s super crispy but soft on the inside. The sauce itself isnā€™t too sweet and the onion is still crunchy and not soggy.
2. The roasted duck is good, but this part of the duck does have a lot of bones in it so itā€™s a bit difficult to eat. The sauce is a tad salty but goes well with the rice.
3. The stir fried veggies balances out the greasy duck and sweet & sour pork. The veggies are nice and crunchy and the portion is also massive.
Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for food on a budget, as the deal is worth the price! & the service is very quick too

This is a relatively cheap casual place to get Chinese food. Its nothing spectacular food wise but for the price its definitely value for money! Its also located very conveniently in the CBD if you want a quick and easy lunch

Typical Cantonese cuisine of good taste. Big portion at very good price in Auckland CBD. Nice and polite servers.

The barbecue food like roasted pork, bbq duck are normal standard. Their fried dishes are hot and fresh.

Tried couple of the lunch time dishes through mealpal. The mapo tofu is so generous and freshly made to order. Only 10 minutes wait. The vege stir fry noodles have lots of flavour even though it's vegetarian. Value for money, that's for sure. The only thing is that the place seems to be quite tired and floor sticky. They do others BBQ dishes as well, sure is lunch time crowd favourite on High Street. Get there by midday and you won't have to queue.
Aimee.
Typical Chinese restaurant which offers a huge variety of rice dishes, noodles, noodle soups, stir fry, meat dishes and seafood. I ordered the shredded duck thin rice noodle which was a little oily but portions were huge.

Our most recent visit was probably the best yet. The male who served us was polite and bubbly and we took advantage of the 2 mains get one free deal. Complimentary tea and soup, peking duck, beans with pork mince and stir fried fish with fungus and veges. All for $50 with leftovers! 3.5/5

Great food . Had fujian rice, bbq pork on rice. Veg with shrimp. Great taste and quality. Generous portion sizes. Definitely will visit again

Always walked past this place and never thought to try it out until I walked past and saw how packed it was! The saying goes ā€œif itā€™s packed, it must be goodā€ and itā€™s true in this case!
We ordered the crispy pork on rice and it was yummy and filling!
We paid $12/13 for this meal and it was money well spent!
The pork was crisp, moist and cooked perfectly! The rice was stale and veges were decent but overall the seasoning and crisp of the pork definitely elevated this dish!
For $12/13 itā€™s a good meal!

Enjoy the food here - especially the BBQ pork and Crispy Pork on Rice dishes. The guys who work always greet me and have an awesome attitude. You get free soup on arrival and they often throw in some free pieces of chicken in soya sauce. Perfect place to get your HK-style food fix.

If I had minus star for reviewing I would give them to this place. I went to the BBQ on Queen street and had quite decent time with them, but this one was bloody terrible. We went here after New Yearā€™Eve and didnā€™t expect excellent service since basically everywhere in CBD was all packed. But the people who served us DRANK and ATE in front of us while taking order. They continued to do that with other tables as well. Iā€™ve never been served by drunk waiter/ waitress before. I ordered the soup which was pretty okay but the fried noodles my friend ordered was ā€œno more than a pile of pukeā€, she said. It was tasteless, oily and soggy. My poor friend couldnt even finish 1/3 of the plate and didnt bother asking for a refund since the server had been drinking a few bottles. Thankfully he was quite friendly (maybe because of the beer?). Anw, Iā€™ll never come back here again.

service is superb. very friendly stuff. ordered duck on rice and also 2 combination on rice, extremely generous amount of rice and meat. also they gave us free soy chicken per person to try. above all this they taste good too.. a very small downside was rice was bit cold would have been better if it was warmer and softer rice.. but it was tasty enough to forget about it when eating. :)

Great value for money!

One of the best affordable Chinese restaurants in Auckland CBD. Went on a Thursday lunch with my mates and they had a deal going on wherein you get a free main when ordering two mains. We ordered salt and pepper squid, minced pork and round beans, yang chow fried rice and got a soy chicken for free! Everything was amazing! Best yang chow I've tried in Auckland so far and the squid was well-seasoned - crispy on the outside and so tender on the inside. Would definitely go back and try other dishes!

Came here for a quick dinner last Saturday; they had a special going on, which was order any two of their mains and you get a entree for free.

We got a Shanghai Bok Choy and Braised Beef Brisket, and got the soy sauce chicken for free.

Food came relatively fast and superbly hot! Everything was good, especially that beef brisket! Although portions are a bit small for $22. The soy sauce chicken was indifferent though.

Overall a bit overpriced for the portion (set back by $46) but decent enough if you want Chinese.

Food: 7/10
Price: 7/10
Ambience: 7/10
Service: 6/10

I ordered Kung Pao Chicken and salt and pepper squid fry. I enjoyed the both the dishes. But out of them, I would recommend you to have Kung Pao Chicken. It is a gravy and rice mixed dish. The gravy has a good choice of vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, spring onions along with chicken. The rice is typical Chinese sticky rice with a topping of peanuts. The blend of rice and the gravy is very tasty. Do try for yourself for a wonderful experience.

Walked in on a cold night, was greeted with a bowl of complimentary hot soup, and some fresh tea. I ordered the bbq fried rice and it was fast, fresh and delicious. They also gave me a small duck leg free! Awesome little spot to eat. Highly recommend!

I prefer the other bbq duck cafe on queen street .... i ordered a sweet corn chicken soup and there was literally one piece of corn it it...
Dani
Pretty pricey for an average meal however service is fast, efficient and staff are really friendly. I like how they have different deals every week. Good location, pretty central and cool place to catch up with friends.

Really great service here they are so quick and polite.Ā I go here all the time for the BBQ dishes.Ā Love the crispy pork and BBQ ribs plus the free small plate of chicken sets them apart from the rest.Ā Very generous portions you will not leave hungry.Ā Love it here, I give them 5/5
Emma
Ordered the salt and pepper squid as well as half bbq pork and half crispy roast pork off uber eats. The squid was great, the coating was good (although slightly chewy but that probably was due to the delivery time). The roast pork and the crispy pork were both good too. Portion sizes were decent for the price.

-update: 9/6/19-
Beef rice noodles is good. Salt and pepper chicken is decent, chicken pieces definitely a little tough and chewy but the flavour is great. Portions are generous too.

The worst restaurant I have ever been. This is honey chicken(very very oily). And we ordered dumplings served as a big plate with only ten dumplings. Terrible experience!!! The service was very impatient as well.
Sherry Zhang
The food is really really awful and disgusting. Are you sure it is honey chicken??? I will never come again. It ruined my night!!! So disappointed.

Cantonese BBQ

This casual eatery serves Cantonese style roast/BBQ meats and other dishes. We stopped in for lunch and ordered a couple of dishes from the back page of the main menu which entitled us to a free plate of soya chicken. They give you free soup and a pot of Chinese tea! The food was very good and the service was friendly and efficient.
Jasmine Shih
While the price was only $27 for a half pecking duck with pancake, the number of pancakes doesnt match the duck like most places do, the sauce didnt have much flavour like you expect it to and the vegetable looks like as if the chef couldnt be bothered cutting it properly. Can not comment on other dishes as I havnt tried it but as for pecking duck the price doesnt reflect the quality of the food.

Iā€™m not a big fan of Chinese food because they are often very oily, but I decided to give this place a try. My friend and I came for a late lunch.

Service: was really nice, quick and friendly, although one of the waitress stood really close to my friend while taking order, making him feel uncomfortable. We thought maybe she doesnā€™t speak English that well and want to stand close to listen so we were okay with that.
When a waitress brought our order, she spoke to us in Mandarin šŸ˜’

Ambience: the place was busy but cleaner than most Chinese restaurants. Plus it doesnā€™t have that oily smell in the air which I appreciate.

Food: My friend got a seafood stir fried noodle and I got the Roasted Duck on rice. We also got free soup on the side and a bottle of tea. I canā€™t commend on my friend dish but I enjoyed mine, the duck was flavourful, until I saw a few pieces of HAIRY DUCK SKIN (photo attached). My appetite was killed immediately. Wondering how properly do they clean their ingredients.

Overall, nothing special and need to be more hygienic in preparing food. No one wants to swallow duck skin with hair on it. Not coming back.

So far the two Chinese restaurants Iā€™ve been to and completely impressed are Empress Garden (Herne Bay) and Spicy House (Balmoral).

First time to this place. Very convenient spot to grab lunch. Ordered bbq pork fried rice and it tasted excellent. Service was professional and got the family vibe also the waiter told me about the deals that they have and it sounds pretty awesome. Would like to visit to this place with my work colleague and friends next time ;)

I frequent this place two to three times a week. Extremely professional service! Awesome food, fast service! Very clean and well presented! Highly recommend for a quick lunch on High street!

Yo I made a Zomato account specifically so I could trash this ā€œeating establishmentā€. Iā€™ll be damned if me and 3 friends didnā€™t sit down and the waiter puts on a facade of friendliness by offering us free tea, which to this day Iā€™m still convinced was just Luke warm tap water. Next we ordered 2 pork buns which he put down as two pork on rice in the hopes of charging us more money. My friend then went inside to pay where he was informed that there was a fee for sitting at a table outside. Sorry what did I hear that right? A fee for sitting at a table outside? After we realized that we had been over charged we sought to change our order and boy oh boy mr waiter didnā€™t like this one bit. After kicking up a fat fuss in the middle of the cafe accusing us of misleading him with our order he stormed off and angrily changed our order to the pork buns we had originally ordered. The nightmare did not end there however. For the next 15 minutes me and my friends sat outside waiting for our order while the waiter dicked around, making a point to stop and loudly chat to other customers in the resturant while pointing at us about how we had mislead him. People who had arrived a significant amount of time after us were also served before us and after waiting a total of half an hour we gave up told him to keep the money and walked off, with his disrespectful and absolutely childish behavior resulting in us being late for university. I truly, truly whole heartedly hope that the resturant sorts this employee out, he is bringing you down and acting like an absolute child. Grow up and get your shit together.
Jan Chen
Ordered a lunch special, being the roast chicken on rice for takeaway.Ā It was probably the worst that I've had in my life.Ā The roast chicken was tasteless, with 70% of the skin burnt.Ā The side veges were oily, and the rice was soaked in the chicken sauce.Ā Terrible.Ā Will not come here again.

A Chinese restaurant franchise, me and a few friends dined in at the relatively new CafĆ© BBQ Duck on High Street. What really stands out for this restaurant was that it is very western friendly in the sense that the layout and overall condition of the restaurant are very clean and new. Itā€™s a nice composition of your traditional Chinese cafes of stall seats with clean white tile floors.Ā

Our orders were the Crispy Duck with Pancakes, Stir Fried Green Beans, and a BBQ Pork. Because of our order size, we were given a free plate of Soya Chicken, which was a very nice gesture and a positive impression. I mean honestly who doesnā€™t like receiving free food?

BBQ Pork was great, strong flavor and had a nice ratio of meat to fat. I was quite surprised at how well the Crispy Duck was, fantastic crunch and the meat was really tender the duck flavor was prevalent but not overbearing. The soya chicken was pretty standard which was great as the chicken was soft and moist. Overall the meat dishes were all really done, although the stir-fry beans was a letdown with the bean being rather soggy.

Showstopper: Crispy Duck was fantastic and the staff here seem to be very generous.

Overall Grade: B+

I come here to buy whole ducks. It's actually quite cheap. Not really a great place to eat and relax. Food is decent but below average. My wife did not eat her own fried noodles. We Will not eat again here and not recommend it

Bad service.

A Cantonese restaurant, they serve soup for free as you sit down. This restaurant isn't big but it still catches some people that would want chinese food. I ordered the 3 Combination BBQ meat on rice. The dish is presented well and it tasted alright, it wasn't very good or very bad. However the chinese cabbage did not taste fresh and it was bland.

The biggest DISAPPOINTMENT was the service by the waiter who sounded like he doesnā€™t care and didnā€™t even want to work there. I wanted boiled dumplings at first and I asked about the filling because it did not specify on the menu. The waiter replied "I don't know" in an impatient manner as if "why are you asking me, how should I know", and said "it's common sense you know, pork & chives, shrimps and stuff." Mate if it's common sense then you should know it. I then asked how many there is and again, he said "I don't know" again. So I told him to ask the chef and he came back saying there's 5. Which Asian restaurant charges $11 for 5 dumplings, are you serious? So in the end I told him I'll get what my friend is having. If I was the owner and I understood english, I wouldā€™ve fired the waiter.

Service - 1/10
Taste - 5/10Ā
Size - 7/10Ā
Price - 7/10

Very funny how this is a different business to the old one, not my interest what actually happened. This store is so much cleaner than the Queen St one, staff way better, they are often so rude to non Chinese on Queen St and they dont care. It also comes with heaps of specials until now I think. Food is quite similar to me but some people find the old one better? And it is very very bright in there, which I like but some others might find it too much.
Jasmine Tay-Paepae
Bought a whole duck today and it was so yummy! Service was good and quick as well. Will definitely come back and try other food items. Good lunch specials.

Yummy duck! The place is a little cramped and Iā€™d prefer more veges with my BBQ Duck on Rice but overall, good food, good value. Have been here a couple times now
Dxlche
Their bbq duck is pretty good but the 叉ēƒ§ (bbq pork) has a different flavour to any other that I have tasted. It also looks different and definitely is not my favourite.
They always seem to have good deals though so itā€™s worth coming here if you are on a serious budget.

bought lunch from here yesterday. portion size is quite HUGE which is a PLUS :) i ordered combination of roast pork and duck on rice, roast pork was AMAZING LOVED IT! however, duck wasn't that great. Not sure if it was just my taste bud but i didn't enjoy the duck and should've got the chicken which was recommended by a friend who also bought from here. Great place great food and will definitely recommend this place :)

I tried this place out since I kept passing by it whenever I go to Chuffed. Finally I got to try it and I talked to the staff there as well. At first I was confused to what to order since the menu were all in words. In the end I just asked the staff what would he recommend and he recommended the Singaporean noodles. The noodles were good but it was dry. It had char siu pork in it which is a plus since I love them. Will try other stuff again. The portion is big btw.

I ordered Crispy Pork with Shrimp Paste Fried Rice. The pork was good, a tad salty but just what I was craving. Portions were huge, I had to take half of my fried rice in a takeaway container.

The restaurant had a two-for-one drink deal at the time. I ordered white wine and I was surprised with the generous portion.

I thought the service was spot on, especially considering I was dining for one and the place was pretty much packed. The person who seemed to be the owner was attentive, same with the guy who served me who has very good customer service skills.

This place brought the noise. Like SERIOUSLY. We had the deep fried squid and the duck pancakes and DAYYYYUMM were they good! Especially the duck pancakes! Beautifully meaty dick with crispy skin and lots of succulent fat. We left rubbing our tummies and with our hunger satisfied.

Will go here if I need to eat rice. They have ample serving of rice. Which is good in my opinion (because I'm Asian šŸ˜„).

The lemon chicken though wasn't fried crispy, combined with the too sweet sauce, it was a bit too much for my taste.
James Lo
Maybe it's because they don't have many customers but damn they have amazing service ! But that's not all , their food is delicious as well with really big potion sizes . They even offer extra chicken for $1
Roro Li
No photos but, really enjoyed their service :) There weren't so many people when I went and the waiter greeted me and sat me down with the menu. The older lady, manager??? owner?? was also quite friendly. They immediately gave me a free bowl of the typical pork bone soup that is often served in Cantonese restaurants. Needed a bit more salt but it would do and the Deep Fried Squid which I ordered was not the best but the sweet and sour sauce kinda saved it. They also offered the $1 soya sauce chicken (not including rice) which wasn't too bad, lots of bone but hey for $1 what were you expecting really. I wished that the menu had pictures as I couldn't read the chinese and I assumed it would be like salt and pepper squid.. Oh well, trial and error I guess :)
Nicola
Terrible service! I walked in and was seated with a menu- I opened the menu and within 30 seconds the waiter immediately asked if I wanted to order- I asked in to come back in a couple of minutes as I wanted to read the menu- he left and I was IMMEDIATELY approached by another waiter, this time an older woman, I asked if she could come back in a couple of minutes as I hadn't read the menu- she stood at my table and kept asking for my order so I got up and left as there was no way for me to actually read the menu and there are way too many good places in the area for me to bother with this level of frustration- I walked out without ordering within minutes of entering and walked next door- no idea if the food here is worth it as I never got the chance to read the menu.

Awesome dining experience! I bought a Peking duck voucher and went there yesterday with my parents. The Peking duck was so yummy ! We've also ordered the spicy beef in soup and deep fried squid. It was delicious too! It's worth mentioning that they offer complimentary soup for customers. We've had big bowl of pork and egg soup. Just before we finished, the friendly waiter has brought us some free cold dish, which is peanuts and seaweed.
Me and my parents really appreciated the good food+service. We will visit again.

It was nice to see a new branch of BBQ duck in high street. The taste is somewhat similar, if not same as the one in queen street. However, the service here is exceptional. It was very nice to feel welcomed and treated like they care about the customers. The food felt abit cheaper than other branch mainly because there were more deals. I'm certain that I will return here weekly.

I was craving Asian style beans with pork mince, so I came here and ordered some for dinner!

It didn't have as much pork mince but they somehow managed to make the mince really crispy. Usually it comes with black olives I think but this one came with black beans. Really yummy but too oily, however I'm yet to find an Asian restaurant that doesn't serve overly oily food!!

Also I saw on the menu the price was $17 or $18 for a medium plate I asked the lady if they can do a small plate for me and she said yes. However when it came out it was a really big plate and I was charged $19.50?? Bit expensive in my opinion. I did like that they give you free soup which was delicious and warming on a cold day, the broth was a milky colour and tasted very fresh.

I'd like to come back and try the BBQ and roast meats which look sooo good.
Kirsten
Came here for lunch one day, and ordered the Salt and Pepper Squid, the Beef Fried Noodles and two bowls of rice. Service was efficient, which was a plus. The salt and pepper squid was quite nice, a bit spicy, but was full of flavour! We ordered a large, but I don't think it quite met the portion size, which was a let down. The noodles were okay, there was hardly any beef in there. I wish there was more sauce/gravy in there. To be fairly honest, I've had better Cantonese food at Dominion Rd. This place is the best one in CBD I reckon.

This place is always full of people. I usually get some take aways on my way to home after work.

We dined on Sunday and the place was not as busy. They offer free soup (I guess it was chicken soup) to diners which contains some carrot but with no meat in it.

We ordered a combination of 3 bbq on rice& eggplant with salted fish on rice. All the bbq meat was fresh and delicious as usual, but the amount of meat was much less especially the bbq pork. The eggplant was nice but I think the best of this place is absolutely their bbq range.

Delicious. Your usual chinese fare done well. Had sweet n sour pork and 3 bbq meats on rice. We picked soy chicken, crispy pork and bbq pork. Have been to the Queen street branch a few times and it's good too. Service was as expected and since this branch is quite new it was very clean inside.
Will definitely be back.

I really enjoy the dishes from this restaurant and decent prices too (check out their specials!) but unfortunately their delivery is not very consistent.
My favs used to be the roast pork on rice, and their sweet and sour fish/pork.

The last time I went there, their sweet and sour fish was really soggy and unlike the crisp delicious dish I had the previous time. Strangely enough the restaurant wasn't very busy at the time, so it definitely wasn't due to lack of time in preparing the dish.

I still recommend visiting the store but I guess it depends on your luck on whether or not the chef for the night is good or not.

The best meat on rice meals.
First time ever and would kindly go back to try other things. Lovely service as well. The sauce they put on the meat is bomb.com šŸ™ŒšŸ»

Food is great but bad customer service from the boss lady. Will not coming back again for this reason. The queen street branch is a lot better

Much friendlier staffs than the one on Queen St!

Nicer decor as well. Food prices and taste are the same but this one is having some promo (e.g. half price roast meats after 8pm, $1 chicken etc) hence cheaper.

A good place to visit if you're looking for quick, tasty food Tasty food at good prices. Location is great - very central. Been here a few times and definitely plan on going back.

Was really looking forward to a taste of asia after living here for 2 years. Unfortunately it didn't deliver. Need to go to asia food courts in k road or albert street for anything vaguely decent/authentic (NB I don't like western style "asian" food)

Had salted fish and chicken fried rice. Really oily and odd tasting oil. Hardly any salted fish. Asked for more and they came back with some random ginger and salted fish sauce. Felt ill afterwards...

I will try the noodles and chicken rice next time but not high hopes
