Hidden gem off the street. Wouldn’t know it’s there. Always tasty food. Lovely people. Great meeting area inside the Saatchi building.

Just met the new owner, super friendly guy the Batista's and crew is awesome, but by far the best feature is the view of the building. Open in door area cafe with great architecture. Price is quite high tho so keep that in mind but the cafe is great!

So happy to be back after lockdown; the food is better than ever - I think I had the best Mushrooms I've ever had there - and I can always rely on amazing friendly service to go with delicious coffee. If I could give more stars, I would!

Great food and plenty of healthy options! Awesome for breakfast and lunch. The building is a magnificent setting for the cafe and you'll be sure to bump in to some of NZ's best and brightest that work in the area. :-)

Ok coffee . Very small food selection but I had a very nice sausage roll . Great surrounds, it is set in an old woolstore

Always consistent, good coffee, not a lot of cabinet food to choose from and no variety from day to day.

We sometimes get morning tea here for my company and although I haven't tried a lot of their food, the things I have tried were pretty good. Since I started at my company a year ago, their service has improved a lot and the counter staff are friendly and efficient and much smiley-er than they were before (perhaps owing to more competition from Huckleberry next door?)At the moment they have delicious scrolls with cheese, bacon and sneaky caramelized onions inside - very yummy and super filling. Their muffins are giant but not much in them except for plain muffin. The drinks are good - I highly recommend the syrupy cherry hot chocolate (black forest) that they are currently doing as a winter special :) Very yum. Their chai lattes are also nice and spicy too. They have very expensive smoothies that are average ($9!) and they serve fresh juice bottles which is probably healthy but also a bit repulsive if you were looking for something sweet. I'd recommend for coffee, hot choc and other hot drinks and those scrolls.

The Strand ticks all the boxes.

With great service, friendly staff that pay attention to detail.

Food was exceptional, with one of the best Big Breakfast I have had. Eggs cooked perfectly and a great balance with the potion sizing.

Coffee was good. Well balanced and made well by the baristas. Good crockery sizes too.

Priced on the medium to high side, but give the quality, worth it.

Overall good place for coffee and food. Would also make a good meeting place. Definitely recommend

Thank you The Strand Cafe, I will be returning soon.
Saw this place on the Denizen's website so thought I would give it a try while staying in Parnell... I was maybe expecting more than this place could offer...
First off, I didn't quite realise that it was more of an "office cafe" so it felt a bit weird eating brunch inside the Saatchi building.
Menu looked interesting enough, I went for the Paleo Bowl (which they had just changed on their menu that day) and my partner ordered the Big Breakfast.
The poached eggs weren't great... would've preferred them with the yokes still runny (I mean even I can cook poached eggs...)
The Big Breakfast came with half an avocado still in the skin which was pretty firm, too firm for my partner so I kind of diced it and added it to my Paleo Bowl.
I'm willing to accept that maybe I'm the idiot for ordering the Paleo Bowl... But it just wasn't that nice. Smoked salmon was kinda sparse, and I do personally prefer salmon gravalax. The spinach was good but I'd say that was from the oil.
My partner just wasn't stoked with the Big Breakfast, the mushrooms being the most average part... Oh and the bacon...
The coffee was fine, didn't notice which brand it was.
Cold press juice was room temperature which kinda sucked... for $7.50 as well... Smoothies looked appealing but kind of steep for $9.50 so decided against it.
Staff were OK.
For $55 we were seriously underwhelmed...
Maybe we came on a bad day? I don't really know... Probably should have endured the more eclectic menu of Rosie (Hip Group cafe) in the other direction.
But as I opened this review with... Maybe I was expecting too much and maybe this place is more of a lunch spot for those who actually work in the building...
Seeing as there are quite a few good cafes in Auckland who make great meals consistently, I don't think I'll be back.
Table For One
This cafe is located inside the grand Saatchi & Saatchi building in Parnell. They've been renovating the outside of this building for quite some time, so it's finally nice to be able to walk past/enter without having to avoid any road cones, caution tape or scaffolding.
It's quite cool sitting in the cafe as you're right in the middle of all of the offices, which are on multiple levels, and you can see everyone coming and going. It feels a bit like a lobby and I can imagine that it's a nice space to unwind for the large number of people that work in this building.
This cafe feels like a bit of an in and out place for me. There were a couple of groups of co-workers having meetings over coffee.
I only ordered a hot chocolate as I popped over after lunch when I felt like some time to myself. The hot chocolate was great, just the right amount of foam and chocolate on the top and no syrup left sitting at the bottom of my cup.
There wasn't any cabinet food like I'd expected but there was a menu which seemed to have a few brunch/lunch type options at reasonable prices for Parnell. There were lots of smoothies on the menu which sound yummy and super healthy.
The seating was pretty plain, a leather lounge suite and different sized groups of tables and chairs. It's quite a large area so it feels sparse.
The staff were friendly and my drink was served up extremely quickly (you'd be surprised at just how long a hot chocolate can take sometimes!). I'll be back to try a smoothie when the weather is warmer or more likely when I forget my breakfast.
