Review Spices Thai - Auckland Central

Karne Steel
Very friendly and accommodating staff who greet you at the door. The food is OK, but could be more flavourful. The place is usually packed, and has a warm atmosphere. Good for meeting with friends.

Arrived and was greeted straight away, it’s a small restaurant but didn’t feel too cramped we ordered spicy fried rice and spicy noodles with chicken. Food arrived in good time and was very tasty, nice fresh veggies and noodles/rice perfectly cooked. I highly recommend this place for a great Thai meal.

Yummy! Love this place - the food is delicious, especially love the selection of curries and steam plates and sides - so good! Staff are great, sometimes the cooks will come out to see how you are enjoying the meals.

Really nice food and the waitresses were friendly and helpful. They even let us in before the opened between were early and it was cold outside. A+ Will go again.

Great prompt service. Food was amazing. Will definitely be going back again.

Easy peesy dinner on L3 lockdown @supporting our local businesses #takeaways#spicesthaiBotany #wisdomOFlife👍#porkBlack&beauty#curryPuff4/pk #moneyBag5/pk #paChoo-chee #padSee-IwNoodle👍 > 2 out of my 6 orders will highly recommend to others to try (👍). Requested one menu to be really hot&spicy (forhubby) a little disappointed as didn't get the chili kick we wanted, maybe didn't made it clear to the order taker. Moneybag mostly have peas&carrot - mince.

We had lunch there today, I loved juno jealous chicken, my wife liked panang curry chicken.

Went here for dinner on Saturday night, great food and the service was outstanding. Also gets very busy so book a table

Nice location ie next to busy intersection. 15min parking in front of shop (if you are a super fast eater) or park opposite ie facing main road allows you 2 hours of enjoyable & stress free meal. Nice, neat and organized shop with 1st floor seating if it's crowded downstairs. About 50% customer capacity during lunch service. Friendly palm claps "Sawadika" and a broad smile greets customers. Water is served and menu given after being seater. A variety of over 20 choices for lunch value of $15 or pick from menu. Hot tasty food was served within 10 minutes of order. Stirred fried broad rice noodles with vege and chicken slices was delicious. Non spicy yellow curry was creamy and a good serving of chicken. Fried vegetables with either pork or beef or chicken was sweet and tasty. Each lunch plates comes with 2 deep fried money bag. Free flow was water. Good choice for a quick lunch or enjoy their dinner menu.

Such a great dining experience! Great attentive service throughout and the food arrived so quickly after we ordered! I wish I had discovered this place earlier! The food was delicious!

Great Thai restaurant. Really enjoyed its food. Real Thai flavours. Enjoyed lot with family. Great customer service. In my top 10 list.

Very friendly staff, just had a red curry from here and it was excellent, looking forward to trying more dishes from here.

Meals were flavourful, generous portions, friendly staff and atmosphere, prompt with our meals..recommend for a casual dinner.

My husband organised a surprise dinner here for my birthday last week.. (nice work babe 😉). They have a private dining area upstairs which is great for large groups of up to 32 ppl. Plenty of options on the menu (including vegetarian dishes) so there is something for everyone. The service was ok considering the amount of people they had to get through with orders etc, but I would say if we were a group of 4-6 the service would have been much better. The bbq chicken was a popular dish for our guests but it came with a long wait time, and was the last dish to arrive. This was one of the restaurants flaws.. slow arrival times for food with large groups. They do however have a set menu which may be faster but we wanted to pick our own. The green curry, pineapple fried rice, Tom yum soup and the pad see ew were all really good dishes.

This was our first try and it will be our last. I was extremely disappointed with the lack of flavour and spice. My red prawn curry was watery, tooo sweet and vegetables was mainly carrots. No colour to the dish. The lamb mussaman was worst. Just brown watery soup with huge chunks of lamb and potatoes. The lamb was dry and not very appealing to the eye. I had fried rice for my boys and it lacked flavour too. I had to refry and some seasoning to it. Only then did my 6 year old boy eat it. The huge slices of onions and cauliflower didn't help. I had to cut them into smaller pieces. They should have asked how spicy we wanted our curries. It didn't have any kick to it! Even though we ordered takeouts it should have been better. Look at the photos. Not appealing at all.

Food is absolutely delicious here. Full of flavour
Environment is nice & clean. It has been busy the few times I’ve been but it doesn’t bother me
Staff could perhaps work on their customer service therefore 4 stars

Been here so many times now. It's our go to place when we can't decide or think of where to go. Staff are always friendly and their food is always so yummy. I don't think you can go wrong with Spices Thai.
Little Fried Egg
We've visited Spices Thai numerous times, however not within the last year. The meals were good portion sizes, however all dishes could've definitely been spicier. The peanut vegetables is a favourite every time. Nice atmosphere, it was busy however and we felt rushed a number of times to both order our meals and finish them - plates were cleared before the last of us had finished eating.

Usually spot for work lunches. Great value; $15 for selected dishes incl 2x fried money bags (wonton equivalents with curry-like filling). I always order their pad Thai which is nice and saucy unlike other places where the noodles are quite dry. Definitely one of, if not, favourite Thai spots in East Auckland.
Asianfoodie
Not quite sure if I had the similar experience as to other reviewers who had an enjoyable experience. We had a tom yum soup and a pad thai, but I found the pad thai to be a little salty for my taste and the tom yum being a little too sour.
Swetha
Love going here for lunch specials with family and friend. They have great food, amazing customer service and friendly staff. The Tom yum soup and chicken jubilation are my favourite and never again seem to disappoint

Been here a few times and food is always good!

Service is always pretty fast and atmosphere is also quite nice. There’s a family vibe here and you often see families here.

Their curries are amazing!

I am not a huge fan of Thai food, but I really loved their Pad Thai meal. Too delicious. Wonderful environment, neat and clean and super busy during the lunch hour. Friendly staff. Tasty food and well presented meals. My work mates and I enjoyed the variety of meals served, pad Thai, green curry, kua Gai noodles and Juno jealous. Excellent food and worth the price 🌟
Flames And Skewers
I had pineapple fried rice on a Tuesday evening, and the place was jam-packed. The taste is indisputably fantastic. I would highly recommend everyone to try this place. We ordered pineapple fried rice, and green curry with rice. The texture of the curry was smooth and the fried rice is among one of the best I've ever had.
The Kai King
One of my favourite places to get Thai food. They have an extensive menu and their food is consistently delicious. Never had a dish there that I didn’t enjoy. The service is friendly and efficient.
Food Geek
Very tasty food, good set up. Would love more portion for the value of money but apart from that its all ok. When its busy, service can be slow so book in advance :)

Spices Thai is our local and we often take friends to dine there. Service is always friendly and have yet to have a bad meal there. We always start with mixed entrees and then proceed to order anything that takes our fancy on the menu. We have tried almost everything and have yet to be disappointed. Our only slight negative comment is that they have recently increased their prices which makes it pricey compared to other local Thai restaurants but the service and cleanliness makes up for this 👍

Quick service, friendly staff, great ambience, yummy food, tried thai cuisine for the first time and the start was Great!!
Loved the experience!!

Spices Thai is a beautifully set restaurant I thought, I felt like I was in another country. The culture was definitely present. Their service was attentive and the servers were always smiling, working quietly around us and helpful with the menu. The food itself was not as flavourful as I wouldve expected. The dish I ordered I requested to be spicy, but unfortunately it wasnt, it was quite bland sadly. Others thought their ordered dish was on the average side, it could do with some more flavour too. The entrees were enjoyable and plentiful. The cost for a group of 5 was agreeable.
Cynthia Brough
really enjoyed my chicken red thai curry it was tasty as ... the service was awesome too it was quick and efficient .. the reztaurant is clean too
Tony Shi
Entrees arrived quickly (less than 10 mins). Main courses followed shortly after.
All the food was delicious. The flavours were vibrant as you would expect from thai food. Pricing is fair as well, mains were around $25.
If you're after some great thai food at good pricing in East Auckland, Spices Thai is worth visiting.

Went on a Friday night at 6:30pm and it was packed! Luckily I had booked. Friendly staff, food was excellent and 6 out of the 8 dishes all came out at the same time. But the food took ages to initally come out. Would def
go again, preferably on a weeknight!
Sean Fernandes
Ate here coz we had no other place to gofor lunch. They did accommodate us even though it was close to afternoon closing. The menu is quite restricted not much choice. Disappointing that they had a couple of pork dishes only. The peanut sauce with the chicken satay was to die for. My pork fried rice was tasty but quantity was disappointing. Not a place I might re visit.
Service was great n friendly.
Levifamz155
The staff were super friendly and accommodating
to our needs👍 The food was really tasty and cooked to perfection! Would definitely come back again.

It’s better to make an appointment before going, or need to wait in a long queue. The food is ok but not really wow you. When we finished the meals, the waitress took away the dishes immediately... it should have been a better way for them to ask for a check out to serve the waiting customers

Perfect yum! Lunch special-great value for money. I had the Penang pork Curry- was perfectly creamy and balance of flavour. Not overly sickly with the cream compared to others I tasted at other places. It hit every aspect of my taste buds. Tofu was ok- crispy on the outside a little bit too soft on the inside for my liking but overall good flavour with the sauce provided.I ended up dipping it on the curry sauce which was great combo too.Thai milk tea was refreshing, a lot of flavours (especially good during summer months). I don’t even know all spices they have in it.I think their was staranise, ceylon or assam tea and condensed milk?

My dad had the tom yum- nice balance with the sourness and hint of sweetness (my dad wished for more soup was included considering their big bowl).

Pad thai was ok.Money bag was crispy, good flavour combination of hint of curry, corn, carrots, meat and peas.

I was feeling satisfied after the meal!

Ambience - 5/5
Service - 5/5
Food/drinks - 4/5

Good food. Good ambience. Decent service Decent size serving. A bit overpriced but its all good. We ordered fried prawns, so delicious, thai green curry, spicy veg noodles, jubilation and deep fried ice cream. I will recommend Jubilation and spicy noodles.
Jason Shi
It has some pretty authentic dishes like Curry duck and Pad Thai. The rice was Jasmine Coconut rice, very fragrance. The Chicken satay was quite blend, and the service was average.

Went here to meet up with our friend who life out in East. Atmosphere is good for catching up. Great friendly service. We stayed for a while in the restaurant without get kicked out. Good value for money considering the portion.
We order a few dishes (pork ribs, steam fish, mixed veggie stirfry, and pad thai). Overall good flavour with a few minor technical issue (ribs and fish were slightly overcooked). Certainly tried better (more traditional) in Auckland city but all and all we had great time.

Staff is extremely friendly and food delicious and seems like they really know what they doing and they are doing very well
I been to this place may be ten times now and every time i like it more .

Nice authentic thai food always great service never disappointing if you are looking for good food without having to research too much try spices thai not overly priced delicious food.

Great and authentic Thai restaurant at Botany Junction.
It may seem to be a bit more expensive than other Thai restaurants but trust me its worth your money. Their food are really flavorful, what we had are the following:
46. Fish Lover - whole snapper in tamarind sauce

55. Thai BBQ Chicken

58. Pad See-Iw Noodle
All dishes were definitely delicious, for sure we'll come back here soon.
PK
Love this local restaurant. Food is always flavoursome and service is attentive. Tom yum prawn soup is my favouraite with cashew chicken stir fry.

Good, basic Thai food. Staff are friendly enough although service felt very rushed. The mixed entree was tasty and we had both the red and green Curry’s. Very mild , so ask for a side of chili if you like it hot.
Overall a bit forgettable, with very little love in the food, the service and the setting. Then again, big tables were booked for larger groups so perhaps a bit under the pump? I’d go back but just for takeaways.
Yu Vi
This place is absolutely ridiculous, I ask for a vegetarian pad Thai with no egg and no tofu with extra veggies.
They refused to give me extra veggies and asked me to pay an extra $3.
I asked them what is the cost for extra egg and extra tofu they told me it's $3 for egg $3 for tofu so that's $6 for both. My order already saved them $6.

This doesn't seem fair and said they cannot substitute anything. They said I need to pay for extra veggies and if I'm not happy with it I can go somewhere else.

Their customer service is absolutely horrific and I do not plan to go there ever again.

The pad thai isn't that great either good thing Nana Thai restaurant is near by and their pad thai taste way better. I only went to spices Thai because they are usually quite with fast food. Nana Thai is always busy and takes long but the food is worth the wait.

Manager "Amy" advised if I was unhappy with her decision my 7 friends and I could leave. I would have preferred to have discussed experience and other issues with owner rather then through review but "Amy" advised she was the owner.... This use to be one of my favourite places but now it's very hit or miss. Food is either excellent or just ok. Service is either amazing or poor. Food comes out for a table of 8 at all different times. Servings of rice are very small and they say it's ok you can have as much as you like and then it's impossible to get their attention for more. Non-negotiable on meals even when you want to buy more things get told "no substitutions" yup just like Burger King. Won't be back.

The dining area and decorations are vey pleasing to the eye when you enter the restaurant. The wait staff in Thai uniforms were quick to seat us, pour water and pass out menus.

Food was served quickly but that's where the dining experience went downhill. The fried rice was really nothing special. The portion sizes for what you pay between $18-$25 a dish is pretty small.

The salads we got were meagre and even smaller once you removed all the vegetable garnishing. The larb was the biggest disappointment. Probably one of the worst Larbs I've ever eaten. The chicken was so tough and dry and there was hardly a trace of the signature toasted rice in the dish.

I can confidently say I will not done here again.

I absolutely loooove this place! It was my first ever Thai cuisine I tried and i've never looked back! I have been here a few times, and have been very basic with what I order. I always either get their Panang curry or yellow curry. Both are amazing! The curry itself is so good, the coconut cream adds to the taste. Im usually not a carrot fan in my food but I love the way the carrot is cut into the curry and gets soaked in leaving it soft and easy to eat. With the lunch menu you usually get two money bags (chicken and vegetable fried) and they're super crunchy and good as well.

I've recommended and taken mates to this place and they end up loving it too!
I haven't tried the dinner menu yet so thats why Im giving it a 4.0, otherwise it's the best Thai food around, i've been to other places and have always ended up comparing it to Spices Thai.

This was the second restaurant we visited in Auckland. One of the favourites of our friends here. The food was excellent, service was very good and the ambience was good too. This would be a 4.5 if they improve their ambience and temperature control. Value for money! Great experience overall. Shall go again (:
Joanne Chiang
Good and fast. They were very friendly. I got the green curry, it was very yummy and bf got the peanut sauce beef which we thought it was a little too sweet. We also got money bags as a started which we really enjoyed. Overall is a good dining experience
Preeti Kaur
Great thai food, really enjoy all their curries and dishes here. Atmosphere is nothing new however, dark red vibes with minimal lighting; makes for a tough photograph environment. Love the food, service is great, wait time minimal evening during busy time. Take aways are equally as good. Great thai food being done right!

Best Thai food that we have had in a long time! Came here on Thursday at lunch time. What a busy place! There are two menus for lunch, one the lunch specials and the other the normal menu. The lunch specials are awesome. There are about 10-15 different meals that you can choose and they all come with two money bags. So my husband and I both got an entree and then a lunch special. For entree I had the fish cakes, they were beautiful, had so much flavour and just the right amount of spice. From the lunch special I chose the Panang Curry. The Money bags that came with this were so good with a lovely crispy pastry. The Panang curry was the best I've ever tried, it was thick with juicy chicken and bursting with flavour. Plenty of food, so we took the leftovers home for a yummy lunch the next day. The staff here are very friendly and I think this restraunt is very well priced for the food that you get :)

Dishes for around ~$20.
Order: Red gold duck curry & chicken pad Thai.
Super delicious. Tasteful and nice relaxing ambience and friendly service. You can order unlimited rice for $2.50 or something per person and keep having it refilled.
Go now if you're craving Thai food.

Food's great. Big servings as well. We went on a Tuesday night but still they were busy. We were expecting that'll be a quiet night. Love the fish and pad thai prawns.

I only ever go to this place for their Pad Thai. Best Pad Thai I've ever tried. Perfect for lunch, not so ideal for dinner. Try with mild spicy!

My go to Thai eatery. Been numerous times and never had a bad dish yet and I've had a lot of different dishes. Recommend it to most of my friends and colleagues. Fast friendly and pleasant ambience and staff. Not to everyones taste.

We visited on 16 July. Very poor service and low quality dishes. Quantity also not great. The started were dripping in oil. When we stated this, the response was -- fried food is like this.
Mojo Jade
overrated and overpriced. ~$20 for pad thai which tastes mostly like rice noodle with sugar sauce, pallid wilted offerings of carrot and beansprout in it. same with the curries >$20 and small portions, little meat, some canned bamboo shoot, wilted strands of carrot and beansprouts. the flavour of the curry tastes like the paste is from the glass jar and not ground from fresh ingredients either, there are much better thai options in auckland...
G
Warm ambience and good customer service. Food is reasonable with the price and delicious. The chicken wings are my favourite. Been here multiple times and pretty consistent.

Have been here multiple times. The food is quite filling and the atmosphere can be very lively. Staff are attentive and friendly. One of our go to Thai restaurants.

We craved for Thai food again, so our GPS brought us to this place. We did not make a booking prior, but were lucky to be seated at a reserved table for one catch: we had to finish before the ones who made the reservation came (45 mins later).

The ambience was cosy, warm and classy. Staff were all quick to respond to customer needs. One particular waitress was constantly checking on my 14-month old son if he was comfy and eating well.

We ordered the following:
Seafood tom yum
Chicken pra ram
Seafood pad thai
Curry puffs (starters)

Tom yum was flavourful and had REAL seafood. It contained about 3 whole scallops among other seafood. Pra ram had a distinct peanut butter and savory taste -but portion was too small. Pad thai was just heavenly! It was sweet, tangy and savory. We had unlimited helping of rice, so that was a bonus! Price was reasonable (leaning towards a bit pricey). I paid 97 dollars for 3 persons plus a baby.

Would surely come back here again!!!

It's not our first time at Spices Thai. I remembered there was one at Highland Park years ago. We had a mixed Entrées with chicken satay, spring roll, chicken wing & curry puff, "love boat" (seafood combination) & chicken Pad Thai noodles. Food was OK - chicken in satay & Pad Thai was bland & dry; noodles was bland, but at least not too sweet. The dessert - steamed glutinous rice with ice-cream & chocolate sauce - was a big thumb up. (Food - 3/5; Service - 3.5/5; Ambience - 4/5)
Chai Paani
Love the Lamb Mussamun here, it's delicious with the lamb just melting in your mouth.
Nice little place. Would recommend making a reservation, we always do. This is another one we've been to a few times. For entree we enjoy the fish cakes and the spring rolls, both of which are scrumptious. The Green Curry Chicken is good and so is the Penang curry, but I'm biased towards the stir fry - beef is by preferred meat option for stir fries. Have tries the Hot Chilli, the Hot Pepper and the Herb & Spicy - all very nice.
It's BYO and service is good.

I've been here for a few times already and always love the experience. Located at a busy Botany Junction, where parking could be a hassle sometime. Great vibe & ambiance and friendly staff. Food is reasonable and a good serving. I always come for their lunch menu and superb as always. Authentic Thai cuisine and taste are always delicious. Dine in and takeaways available. The place is also a good venue for special events/functions. Oh Pad Thai and curries...yum!

Been here a few times in the past. They have a $14 lunch menu. Which is really good. I came with my husband and he ordered from the lunch menu and I ordered from the vegetarian menu. Upon seating the server poured us water which is really nice. Good service throughout. We didn't wait long for our food. Husband ordered chicken tom yum soup. I ordered vege spring rolls and tom pha soup...hope I spelt that right. Food was good. My soup was super sour lucky I like sour things and spring rolls were piping hot and crispy. Filling was fresh and crunchy. Loved the presentation and was quite filling. I am content with my meal. Other meals in the past have been good also hence the above average rating.

Been there many times, we eat at Spices Thai nearly weekly.
Food is always amazing- my family and I love it.
Will definitely recommend the special lunch menu. Any item on the menu will not disappoint.
Had dinner here with my group of friends from work. There's was about 10 of us at one table. We had placed our order and all our food had arrived in just about 15-20mins. We all had something different but I had ordered the Thai BBQ chicken. It looked beautiful one the hot plate but when I had begun cutting it. I could tell it was a little overcooked. The meat was dry and was not moist at all. Normally when ordering chicken on a hot platter at Thai restaurants, the meat is usually moist but this was quite dry. The sauce with my dish was nice but a little too sweet. I had also come here once before and didn't really like it too much. I think I still have the same feelings towards it as to when I had first come here. Not too impressed. It wasn't anything specially to me. The seating was nice though but we all felt the table wasn't big enough to fit all our food. The interior was nice, loved the statues by the door and the tables weren't too close to each other so we had some space to move around as well as some privacy. Overall I had an okay experience.
Food (2.5/5) Service (2.5/5) Ambience (3.5/5)
G
Nice reasonable price for the green curry. Was happy that they could substitute the beef for chicken even though the menu said no substitutions. Good portion and nice environment, clean and nice decor. The food could be a bit more spicy though.

Beautiful atmosphere, very attentive and approachable staff, and lovely food. I ordered the crispy tofu and vegetarian pad prig which were both very hot and fresh, the portions were reasonably big (good for the price) and extra rice and/or chillies were always on hand, though being a restaurant there was a bit of a wait for the food to arrive. Would recommend for a semi formal dinner with a friend, a relaxed date/ anniversary dinner, or even for a small work gathering. A very lovely little place right by botany junction.

Been here for lunch on 2 separate occasions with friends. The place was a bit packed during lunch but they still had a few tables available. We were greeted by a waiter and taken to our seat. For both occasions I really enjoyed their customer service. The first time I ordered the crispy chicken entree since I wasn't hungry at the time. I ordered rice as well for an extra $2 which was pretty cheap. The chicken had a nice crispy texture and tasted delectable. It was seasoned well. The waiter was also attentive. The price was around $9 which is a tad bit pricey for me. The second time I ordered Satay chicken skewers I think which was around the same price. It was really light and tasty. The sauce went well with it too. The chicken were marinated well. The design of the place makes you feel like you're in Thailand. The seating arrangement and cultural ornaments create good ambiance. There are a lot of options in their menu and the food are well priced too. It's a good place to relax and chat with friends for lunch. I'll be coming back again someday for a quick lunch.

I booked this place to celebrate my mums 50th. We had lunch with 40 people. Great service and delicious food. Will definitely recommend spices thai as a great venue for celebrations. Service was efficient and we were very well looked after.

Went here for dinner last night with a friend. I ordered the money bags and the chicken pad si ew. The money bags were amazingly fresh and piping hot. Ratio of meat to veges was leaning a little too much towards veges but that's ok. Paired with a spicy sauce, these were a very tasty entree. The pad si ew was bursting with meat, I could almost say there was too much chicken! The flavour was lacking just a little but other than that was very happy with this dish. The wait staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Great night with great food.
Misty
Great restaurant in Botany Junction. Went there for dinner on a Friday night, lucky we got there early because it filled up pretty quickly. We had 'money bags' to start with, then 'chicken pad thai' and 'enlightenment' with rice. They were all yum and very filling, and I'd be happy to go back.

Had a craving for Thai food! And my cravings were definitely satisfied here at Spices Thai.
We ordered the a Green curry, squid salad and tom yum soup.
The food! Wow, is delicious! The green curry was beautiful rich and creamy but not sickening although I found my beef to be a bit on the tough side. The squid salad was nice, lots of squid which is great! Seasoned well. The tom yum soup was good as well.
My favourite would have been the green curry. So good!!!

The staff are friendly and attentive, loved that they refilled my water frequently! Decor is very eye catching, restaurant is clean spacious. Can't really fault this place! I would definitely come back for more and highly recommend!

Heard some many good reviews and recommendations about this Thai Restaurant. So i decided to grab it as take away for dinner tonight. My husband ordered Chicken Satays, Pad Thai Chicken and a Chicken Penang Curry. All really lacked flavour, very disappointed i even compared the meal to a Mall Food Court it was that bland. Sorry not going back in a hurry, really disappointed. Ive made better ones myself.

Spices Thai is a nice local restaurant in Botany Junction. It has been there for years & seems to have the right formula as its popular most days of the week.
Service is good - similar to other Thai restaurants. Quite efficient but not invasive. Only thing here would be more focus on offering additional drinks when they're empty, but not a biggie as they're more than accommodating if you flag them down.
It opens for lunch & dinner. The lunch menu offers a $14 special which also comes with 2 money bags. It's just big enough to fill you up.
Dinner has a range of the usual options (pad Thai, chicken & cashews, green curry etc...) but also some different salads & fish dishes. Have tried most of the dishes & have only had the odd disappointment. Generally you can't go wrong. Quite a few vegetarian options too.
Dessert is pretty low key as with other places but nice enough if you want something sweet after. Beverage list is good.
Instead of dining in this time we decided to take out as it had been a busy day. They were very prompt with our order.
We ordered a mixed entree - very good value & each item is perfectly cooked with the yummy sauces. A popular fave.
We also ordered the fish fillets in tamarind sauce. It's quite spicy & comes with a good amount of veges. You can order other sauces or the whole snapper which has great presentation when eating in.
The Prawn Penang curry was our final dish. There were only 7 prawns & not much in the way of Veges for $23, but the prawns were very fresh & well cooked. Would just be good to have more substance for this price even though it's a curry.
Pretty good place consistently so worth a visit.

Spices Thai: a place that people regularly to eat. Went here with a friend for lunch. We liked how the environment and design went together. For example, statues that complemented the restaurant's cuisine. I had their Pad Thai Noodle that arrived in a very nice portion size. It had marinated chicken which was cooked well. The noodles and ingredients were covered in a saucy and good flavour. Good experience and enjoyed the busy atmosphere.

Came here for lunch today and we were greeted and seated quickly with a smile. Good start. We got the $14 lunch specials of chicken pad Thai and the beef stir fry, both which came with 2 money bags.

Presentation looked great and the flavour was good. Too bad both the chicken and beef were tough and overcooked. I did like my pad Thai, not too sweet. The money bags were interesting though as they had a curry chicken filling to them and tasted a bit store bought. Portions were pretty decent and were good value for money.

One of the nicer Thai places. Would probably come back if I'm craving Thai next time.

Service was good, food was great too! Nice local place to go if you want some good old Thai food. We went there around 8.30-9 so the kitchen closes quite late which is good if you're finish work late and need a quick dinner.
Jessie Kaur Waraich
The food was flavoured well, but it could have been better, for a Thai restaurant I excepted a little bit more spice( might be saying that because I'm Indian). The service was good and it was reasonably priced.

Your typical Thai restaurant - menu is the same as any other thai place, staff are very nice and welcoming and the place always seems to be busy! At least on all the times ive been there. They have good enough portion sizes to share

Lovely people, lovely, tasty, reasonably prices food. Don't mind the drive from the shore!

Lady behind the counter is wonderful and always a smile on her face and staff, service with a smile. Check out their lunch specials, cheap and yumm! runs through 7 days a week ! Never saw this place empty.

Mediocre thai restaurant in Botany Junction. I tend to dine here more than I probably want to only because the lunch deals seem to get me every time. For $14.50 you'd think there's not much to complain about. But! There's a huge but...... You definitely get what you pay for. Cheaper dishes = cheaper ingredients. The curries are a couple of gigantic chunks of potato and carrot and only a tiny portion of the actual protein. The stir frys are only slightly better. Learn from my experiences and drive a little further and have a proper meal.

Therefore points go to decor, ambiance. The authentic decor and the bustling vibes at night make it just slightly bearable.

I got some takeaway Green curry (duck) and I was hugely disappointed! For such a proud price I expected quality ingredients and bigger portion size. I had about 5 tiny pieces of duck which were mainly fat and bone, the green curry had 3 undercooked pieces of potato and a hard piece of carrot, otherwise it was mainly onion. Over $20 is way too much for such low-quality food :(

I'm not a huge of Thai food as I'm usually disappointed by one aspect or another.

Spices Thai was bustling when we came in for dinner last night, the venue is fairly spacious with an extension upstairs (for private functions maybe?) however they have packed the floor with as many tables and chairs which makes it a bit difficult to walk through during a busy service. The decor is true to Thai culture with the colours, statues and ornaments as well as the outfits worn by the staff.

We ordered 2 mixed entrees to share, Pad Thai Noodles, Red (chicken) curry, Green (pork) curry and Massaman Lamb Curry. We also BYO-ed a bottle of red wine which the restaurant charges a $5 corkage fee. The dip that comes with the entrees is amazing! I can only recommend the fried chicken wing as it was the only thing that tasted decent to me. We had varying levels of spice from Medium to Extra Hot (which wasn't actually spicy at all). The lamb curry was great, very flavourful and filling but the lamb was dry whilst the potatoes could've done with a bit more cooking. The red and green curry sauces are very light in comparison to the Massaman Lamb. The rice portions they plate up for you vary in sizes - one of us got more than the others. I can't comment on the Pad Thai Noodles because I'm not a fan and didn't bother trying it.

The service was alright, I feel that the restaurant is understaffed with only 1 waiter and 1 waitress on the floor and possibly the owner/FOH wiping tables. It was very difficult to get their attention for water and rice refills and we had to ask the same waiter 2-3 times.

This restaurant seems very popular and would be a decent choice for people who love Thai food.

Sarah Reynolds #challenge

Love it here. A wide range of duck dishes which is important to me. Service is always fast. The staff are friendly and toilets clean/well maintained

A very nice, clean place with excellent food. It's a bit out of the way for me, but I've been a couple of times with friends and family, during which the staff were pleasant and friendly, seating us quickly and efficiently and being quick to help us out.

The food is great. I've only been for lunch, which, while at $14 is not the cheapest Thai restaurant around, but has very large portions which I can't finish on my own, accompanied with vegetarian money bags (on one occasion I asked to change my money bags to spring rolls, which they did for me!), all of which are excellent. I haven't yet had a dish here which I've not enjoyed.

In all, a bit pricey for lunch in comparison to other Thai places but very good food otherwise.

Have been going here for years now and their level of service and food has been maintained to the same high quality! Lovely place for lunch..... Must try!

The staff are lovely, the atmosphere is wonderful and the food is delicious.

There are plenty of Vegan options.

Exceptional service all at a great price.

And all the meals arrived at the same time.

The best in this area. My visitors enjoy the service and meals and then return for more. I have nothing negative about this place. Keep the food and service up and I will always bring friends to this eating house.

We decided for late lunch, it was nice of them to give us takeaway but food was pathetic. We ordered spicy noodles, there was no spice and fried rice had chunks of egg with not a hint of sauce or salt. It was treat for kids and we paid a price which was a big regret......food was disgusting. Shame on them for putting us off Thai food for sometime. Very disappointing and a big rip off.

Fabulous food, exceptional service all at a great price. And all the meals arrived at the same time. Have been here many times for different occasions and never been disappointed at this wonderful Thai restaurant. No one can ask for more than that.

Spices is one of those restaurants that you are glad you have found and will return to time and time again. Usually end up there for lunch and have never been disappointed. The portions are a good size and are flavorful, I especially like the way they give you two perfectly cooked money bags on the side with your meal - a very nice touch especially seeing they are crammed with tasty filling. The service is excellent and very quick and their beverages are well priced, like their menu which features all the usual Thai dishes.

I recommend this place to all my friends but it would pay to book as sometimes they look full and if you have a larger group you may miss out. Thank goodness for their welcome presence in Botany.

The new decor at the Lunn Avenue branch is just fantastic. Clean and immaculate, very impressive indeed. Food was served so quickly. The Thai Green Curry was amazing. Recommend that you should try it.

By far the best Thai in our area. The food is fantastic and the staff so friendly and helpful. We often take our children here and the Owner is so family friendly - even sets little places for the children with bowls etc...By far our favourite!

I'd have to say one of Auckland's top Thai restaurants.

Fantastic food, lovely environment and great service.

Enough so that we often drive from Papakura for takeways there!!

As well as a great evening for dining in.

Full marks.

it has a good environment when first entering it looked grate they have Nice employees but the menu is just too expensive food was way over price who would want to buy a bowl of rice for $24:00 i mean rip off there was to much flavor or no flavour at all an i asked for mild and it was very hot and spicy and not eatable i could not get the hot taste out of my mouth so i Had to drowned it down with lots of drinks which the drinks where over priced too after i drank lots of cold beverages the taste was still in my mouth but i did enjoy the naan breed but at he end i felt ripped off and UN satisfied and wont properly go back again.

My first encounter with Thai Spices was at their restaurant in Highland Park.
I found the atmosphere, service and over all attention by a very friendly staff fully up to the standard of a first class restaurant in Thailand, which I visit annually.
More recently these very competent people opened in Botany Junction- a much more authentic ambiance and the food as consistent as the Highland restaurant.
I totally recommend this chain of three sites- one recently opened in Mt Wellington.
The food will always be first class and to top it all off, they accept B.Y.O without hesitation.

I have come to be a regular to this restaurant. Food is excellent, they cater for my food allergies. The staff are just wonderful, always smiling. Decor is very Thai although prices have again increased, can be on the expensive side if you choose the al la carte for lunch. However there is a great cheap lunch menu on offer. Need to play more Thai background music, adds to the ambiance. Lunch and dinner, highly recommnended and a great BYO charge.
