Price was good. Had two full meals, several sides and a large bottle of sparkly and paid $89. Food was well presented and tasted authentic. Loved the Vindaloo spices. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Busy little place so you have to patient for service. One thing I found should not be done is serve a cold drink in glasses that have just come out of the dishwasher which are still hot.

Good Indian is always hard to find as it can sometimes cater for the Western Market. But this place was authentic and fantastic. The service is good and friendly. The prices are reasonable. The food is excellent. I have been here a few times and it never fails to disappoint. There is some great Indian in Auckland including some fusion places. But this is the best for straight up Indian.

Quiet on the evening we visited the staff were friendly and attentive, no hassle even though it was just a quick visit and we only ordered one dish to share didn't bother them and they came out with the food quick smart. Delicious butter chicken ha! Yes we ordered this most typical Indian dish... and not disappointed. Success! Succulent and flavoursome. Will visit again.

I think it's the high price that's kept me from eating here before despite living around the corner, BUT it's worth it. Friendly table and counter service. Huge menu. Nice interior decor and elegant seating too, perfect for a date night. Got the Rogan Josh bc I wanted something a little more spicy than a medium level, but they'll still ask you how spicy do you want it. Brought a pitcher of water to my table. Tuesday night at 730pm also apparently is a busy time bc the place just got 100% packed. They'll do takeaway as well. Enjoy!

Had a wonderful experience at this restaurant! Staff was so friendly and helpful as we aren't locals, the food was amazing best Indian food we had ever tasted. You could taste the spices (not cream or tomato paste) in curries, Naan was cooked perfectly, it absolutely impressed all of our family including fussy teenage kids. Worth every cent š Would definitely go back. Happy Gisborne family.

We ordered a chicken biryani and a mushroom curry. They chicken and mushroom were cooked well, and nice and moist. The rice of the biryani was not as crisp as I would've liked, but the chicken being moist was redeeming enough. The service was adequate and timely. The restaurant manager, Ajay, is a complete idiot. He sent my order after one and a half hours, and that too was incomplete! And when I questioned him, he said he would refund the money. After making me wait for one and a half hour he thinks I need to return the food and re-order? And when I said I would complain, he said to do 'whatever you want.' Please be mindful if you are making an online order from this place ā terrible service.

This place was very dimly lit - would be great if they could dial it up a bit or add candles? The water came out in a dark bottle that read 'premium water' - was not so sure about that. I didn't enjoy the atmosphere so ordered takeout which the staff were very accommodating about. Looks like the containers were old as they were all scratched up however the vegeĀ masala was really nice however the naan tasted very... earthy. I would only ever purchase curry here to take out and skip on the naanĀ bread.

Great lunch special at this local Indian place in Newmarket- only $12 for chicken/beef curry, naan and rice.<br/><br/>This place is popular and has fast service. We had the samosas which were fresh, tasty and served with tamarind sauce.<br/><br/>I had the Indian hot beef Madras which was tasty and had a little kick (still could have had more) but would definitely eat again.<br/><br/>The naan bread was outstanding though-light, crispy and flavoursome!<br/>

The service here is friendly. I went there on a Monday and it was busy. Meaning it has to be good. Haven't seen many indian restaurants in new market. This place is good. I had beef vindaloo with naan and beer. The vindaloo was not that spicy with good quantity. <br/>Compared to other restaurants you can get vindaloo either too spicy or not enough spicy. The vindaloo here was perfect for my taste. Well done chef. <br/>Would def go for a re visit

Have come here a couple of times for a cheap on-the-go meal, and while I'm usually pretty happy, I was disappointed by the last meal. We ordered a mild butter chicken and a medium beef madras and while the butter chicken was nice, I found the madras bland and without any kick to it whatsoever. They do give a pretty fair portion of meat though considering the Monday- Wednesday night special for $11, so I can't complain too much. Will be back, but will avoid the madras and maybe order the next medium as hot!

A regular spot for our Curry Club, Chaahat has consistently provided our company with tasty Indian dishes and a happy office.<br/><br/>On this occasion, we opted to get our meals on the go and to their credit, our meals were still piping hot when they arrived. We had a butter chicken, vegetarian briyani, lamb karahi, and a chicken korma.<br/><br/>The curries were creamy and flavoursome. Naan Bread was a favourite for everybody as it was slightly smoky and fluffy. <br/><br/>However we did order Indian hot for our briyani and it was disappointingly mild. They also forgot our raita which was quite annoying.<br/><br/>Aside from those mistakes, overall we enjoyed the curries and would recommend it as a lunch venue.<br/><br/>Showstopper: Hand rolled Naan bread and a decent amount of chicken in the curries.<br/><br/>Overall Grade: B

My partner and I visit here quite regularly on Wednesday nights. From Monday to Wed, you can get all their mains, including seafood and prawns, for only $10.99 each, including rice. And all their mains always come with a decent serving of meat. We always run out of rice though so have to get some more for $2, which then leaves us with too much and we take it home!<br/>Service is great; and the decor is nice too. If you want to go somewhere not too fancy, not too drab (read - Indian in a food court), then this is definitely the place to go. They always do lunch specials during the week too.

This Indian restaurant is a saviour for new market if you do not intend to spend heaps and want a decent meal under $20. They serve some lovely curries and service is excellent. Being an indian I can gaurantee that the curries are better than a lot of restaurants who serve at the same price range. The hosts suggestions are great and price is very affordable. they even have a very cheap lunch menu for just $12. I keep going back here and surely recommend.

Excellent service. Vegetarian sizzling platter at beginning very nice. Good layout, comfortable. The two curries we had (mushroom matar, fish masala) both really nice and just the right amount of food. Most enjoyable little restaurant, I recommend it if you like Indian food.

Absolutely fantastic place. The food and service were both incredible. The waiter did not stop smiling and was extremely helpful in explaining which dishes were vegan friendly for my friend. Furthermore, the service was extremely quick, we had our food in record time. Great selection of vegetarian options which were all delicous and very reasonably priced. I'd rate them higher but the smell of the chemicals used to clean the tables were overwhelming when being cleaned. Absolutely top notch place, definitely recommend popping in for a visit.

The food is great, however, it didn't go down very well when the manager told us to leave immediately after he saw that we had finished our food. It was barely 30 minutes from the time we sat down. My perspective of dining at a restaurant is the holistic experience of enjoying the company you are with, the ambiance of the location you have chosen and most importantly the experience with the staff of the venue.Ā <br/><br/>This experience has been totally negative as it was rude of the manager to tell us that another booking was pending and we need to leave. It started off as a wonderful lunch but ended with this sour note.

We come for the lunch specials. $10 for curry rice and naan. Butter chicken is really good. The korma doesnt taste like other kormas but still has a good flavour. Had a bit of my sisters lamb spinach curry dish, the lamb was so tender and lovely. The service is nice and friendly and the lunch comes out fast. Will have to try their dinner.

We love Chaahat Epsom and found out that they have opened a new restaurant in New Market so we decided to try it. We came here for Dinner on a weekday and the restaurant was almost full. We were four adults with a toddler and the table we were given was a bit cramped for us. They didn't have any bigger table anyways. All their tables were of same size. We ordered Mango lassi, it was extremely sour. For mains we ordered Malai Kofta and Kadhai Paneer, they were ok. Service was good. Overall a very average experience. I wouldn't return to Chaahat New Market however will definitely recommend Chaahat Epsom as it's much better than this one.@

Chaahat boasts the best Indian place in my neighbourhood, Newmarket. Here's a new Hindi word of the day: Chaahat, or Chahat, means, 'love' or 'affection'. How pretty. The attractive bright blue lights hung outside the restaurant reminds me a lot of the Nite Spice Indian restaurant in the neighbouring suburb of Mt Eden, and for quite a long time until recently I used to confuse the two.

This is a great place for a night of good service and hearty Indian food. Monday to Wednesday they have all the Indian dishes on the dinner menu for $10 each, which makes this place really awesome cheap eats value too.<br/><br/>Went on a Wednesday evening, where it was a bit quiet at 7pm, but a lot of people coming in and out for takeaway and chatting really happily with the staff so clearly they have a lot of loyal regulars. Always a good sign!<br/><br/>My go-to comfort dish from here is from their Indo-Chinese menu, which aren't part of the dinner specials but are worth the $15.50 in my opinion. The Chinese Style Noodles come in a huge bowl, with large chunks of chicken and endlessly slurpable noodles. The sauce and noodles are so good, particularly on chilly evenings; I'm craving it again now as I'm writing this.

Came here a while back. I remember the worker, I assume was the owner was very nice. It was quiet and sets the mood especially at night. Food was alright but I like the service. We ordered too much food for two stomachs to handle but it was good either way. The man was so nice he even gave me a sambuca shot š Ā ended the night pretty good.

I love Indian and oh my aren't these guys great. Monday - Wednesday cheap curry for $10 and tastes amazing ! Can go out for date night and please me with some exotic flavours and person 2 who prefers plain and quantity. We usually order butter chicken and lamb korma plus garlic cheese naan! They give you large portions and very prompt service. Have been 3 times now plus a few takeaway occasions and can't beat the cheap eat out. There's generally not to many people so can usually get a seat. It's not fine dining but for what you pay its a decent meal out and would recommend this to others :)

I was first introduced to this curry place a few years ago for a friend's birthday and have been doing there every since. Everyone I've taken here has also enjoyed it and requested to go back. I've had both vegetarian and meat curries and dessert, and haven't tasted something I didn't like. This is definitely my favorite curry shop. The staff are also wonderful. Quick and polite.

Very cute small but very busy restaurant. They always have cheap meal deals on like $10 lunch. The service is always impeccable and you are greeted the second you walk in. The food is always made hot and fresh and they have a look in kitchen where you can watch the chef make the breads. Lunch specials are very good value for money, I quite often get sagawala or their butter chicken. Service is quite speedy and waiters are friendly and accommodating, it gets a bit cramped though during busy lunch times so might pay to book ahead for larger groups. If you see some random dancing to Bollywood music vids playing on tv, that is probably me O_o chur.

I've been here twice now for dinner and am surprised it doesn't have a higher rating. Both meals were great especially for the low price of $12.99 for any curry (I believe the lunch special is $10.99 including a drink!) all curries come with rice. I've had the Saag (Chicken) before and a chicken dish with pineapple and cherries (I can't remember what it is called and it's not on the menu above) and both were delicious. The medium was pretty hot for me, although at the level it should be. It's not an upper class establishment but it's not run down either, just your run of the mill restaurant with fantastic food, service and prices.
