Review Lord Of The Fries - Auckland Central

Delicious chips, mac and cheese balls, and spicy buffalo sauce. I loved it. Although the service was very slow, the guy who took my order and the one who packed it were very nice. So for that, I'll give them a 5.

The food here was fantastic, I was surprised the whole menu is vegetarian given how many different options there were, I will have to go back here to try something different!

The think about the place is that they try to make in a sustainable way. The packaging is bio composable and they offer a lot of vegetarian options. The food is tasty and the staff is also friendly. So major points for a fast food restaurant are well meet. The store is pretty small with just 2 chairs inside. They have a few seats outside, but they don’t really have a comfortable feeling to them. I don’t really think that it matters because if you are getting fast food that isn’t really the goal. Anyways I like it and the name is funny!

I like the food very much! Just can recommend to everyone.

The fries here are really good, personally recommend the chunky or classic - I have these all the time. Burgers are delicious too and come with vegan cheese. If you haven’t been back in a while you will notice that the burgers are much bigger now. Which is a bonus!

Mushroom toastie is pretty decent actually. I recommend it, and you can’t tell the cheese isn’t real cheese. Tbh I walked in here and ordered before realIzing it’s vegan, so I accidentally gave them a chance to prove themselves. Not disappointing, who knew that bread loaded with butter and fried mushroom doesn’t taste bad ;) I’d be hesitant to call it health food

I had the Classic Wrap and it’s was very delicious. I loved the crunch of the Gerkin and the sauce was refreshing. I definitely would go back and try one of the other 3 wraps. Plus value for your money 🙂

Came by for dinner. There isn't a lot of table space but there are a few outside the shop. There is quite a selection of food including burgers and hotdogs. We grabbed a combo each. We grabbed a table after ordering and it was delivered to us. I had the hotdog with the kumara fries. The toppings on the hotdog was ok but I didn't like the hotdog itself, mostly because of the texture. It was almost like the canned Vienna sausages. The onion rings and fries were really good though. You also get to pick a dipping sauce for your fries and they have quite a few to choose from. They are good hot but once they get cold they get quite soggy. A friend had the parma burger and that was better than the hotdog so it could be a hand and miss type place. I would go back for the fries though since they are quite good and you get a decent portion of them.

SIIIIICK FOOOOOOD. OMG we had been waiting for so long to go. Delicious. So many options. All vegan. Even the carni's loved it Amazing staff. We ate there twice in a weekend. Waiting patiently for the Queenstown shop to open!!!! ❤️❤️❤️

Insanely good food and good vibes. 10/10 definitely recommend

I tried the Parma big size. Compared to my favourite Vege burger from BurgerFuel I didn't like it as much. It wasnt bad tho, just pretty basic and not as big. Filled the gap tho, so can't really complain.

The staff are super kind and friendly, and the food is fantastic! Can hardly tell the chicken is vegan, highly recommend the loaded fries too

I love lord of the fries, it gives me an option to eat normal fast food. I've been eating it since it opened in Auckland. The "chicken burger" is my favorite. The chips are awesome, the sauces are amazing and you wouldn't know they are vegan. Even eat eaters I know even lovee LOTF.Most things on the menu are 10/10. Some comments over the years; they changed the buns and I preferred the older ones. These ones are a big dry. The chicken wings they use to have served in a munch box were THE BEST FAKE CHICKEN I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. I used to message LOTFs asking them to sell them individually because you used to have to buy a munch box with a tonne of chips to get 2 wings. They would do so well to sell individually. HOWEVER, it looks like it is no longer on the menu at all :( Bring them back! they are incredible . thee gravy has improved soooooo much.
Con:would also add, the prices have increased a lot.

Small place..Good quantity served. Fries were good. Could work around the hotdog...in terms of taste..

The HSP Fries were potentially the worst vegan meal I’ve ever ordered, it was a huge pile of cold vegan cheese, dry meat chunks and cheap tomato sauce, burgers were dry and it cost me $35... me and my flatmates will never ever be back.
Yana Petrenko
Stopped in here a while back for a light snack and was very pleased with the service as me and my bestie got our fries within 5 minutes, the prices are a tad bit pricy i’d say just for fries as they tasted quite ordinary. The place is very cramped as they only have about 3 tables where u can sit and they’re not even inside, they’re like right outside. Probably won’t be back here unless it’s a last minute run in x

Had lunch here not so long ago
Fairly basic tables and chairs
Nice spot in St Kevin's Arcade
The burger and fires were average
Quite a handy option though

In New Zealand, when your hungry in the middle of the night , there are not many options around .
Yesterday was one such day, it was late at night and I had nothing to eat. Hence Uber Eats to the rescue :)
I had been wanting to try Lord of the fries for sometime now. Its not that I am vegan , but i was just curious to try the Veg non-veggie burger.
Without really reading any of the Zomato reviews I went ahead and ordered for the New Guru burger , fries and a drink to go with it.
By the time i got the food it wasn’t really hot probably thats the reason it wasn’t as nice as I expected it to be. The burger is huge and quite filling, the taste is okay nothing really out of the world. It definitely does not live upto the hype.
Honest opinion Mc Donalds > LOTF(Lord of the fries)
not much to say except this place has great vegan food and their chips and sauces are super tasty! they also have moustache cookies - the cookies and cream one is amazing

I was interested to try their take on the vegan burgers as I heard about the rave from colleagues. Our order was quick and service was nice. I found the burger to be average although the chips were good in portion and taste. If you’re willing to spend a fair bit amount of money for a healthy take on fast food this could be the place.

I go in person every now and then but I order from Uber Eats very often. Definitely my favourite place to eat from, sooo delicious. I haven’t eaten meat for 8 or 9 years and can’t remember the flavour of it, so can’t compare their fake meat to real stuff. Pretty much tho it all tastes really good, tried many of the different things on the menu and have yet to dislike it. Even my mates who are hard-core meat-eaters, those kind of people who bash vegans and vegetarians, enjoyed the food. The only downside is it’s so good I order too much sometimes and over eat lol. Overall, it’s bloody nice so try it. Not to mention it’s great for the earth, no farming cows for beef using great amounts of land and water and damaging waterways etc etc. All the packaging is sustainable as well (made from cardboard/paper etc) other than the tiny plastic lids of sauce pottles. Still tho, I can feel good about myself, animals and the earth when I eat from here. So ye, enough said.
Dani
An awesome option for vegetarians but not only limited-meat eaters would really enjoy too! Super delicious and well worth the money too. Ordered the Phish burger and fries. Very good quality and friendly staff.

Husband recommended coming here, I was a bit apprehensive being a meat eater I really wondered if this place would be suitable for me. He had the Melbourne hot dog which was surprisingly delicious. I would get this for myself next time. I had the HSP fries without the Sriracha sauce(thought it might be too hot?) kids size which was quite filling. First experience here and I would come back for the same items again.

Ordered via uber eats and food arrived quickly. LOTF is perfect if you have a craving non-vegan junk food (like for me on this occasion I had a weird craving for a maccas cheeseburger) - LOTF will hit the spot. Good range of gluten free options but not all burger patties are gluten free so be sure to check. The moustache cookies are a must have - so delicious!

We happened to be in the city one day and were so excited to head into LOTF. We weren't sure about the vegan options but were advised EVERYTHING is vegan on the menu. We had the fried "chicken", chips with African sauce which I believe consisted of "mayo, ketchup and diced onions". Oh boy, you know they're doing something right when you take a bite and have to second guess its not actually just what its supposed to be imitating. Great texture and taste! The chips were amazing and I tried their kumara fries too which were the bomb. Best place IMO for vegan junk food. Convenient location next to Tank on Krd. Friendly staff and decent sized premises, probably not suitable for dining in. Prices aren't too bad either.
Paloma
Best vegan fast food around! Heaps of options to choose from and they are all good. The fried chicken is great my partner who is not vegan enjoyed this. I Highly recommend everything!
Have been here twice now! Of course a vegan pattie is never going to taste the same as real meat, but as a whole it definitely tastes like a normal burger. The sweet potato fries are also VERY generous and delicious! The chickn burger is my fave but the original is okay as well. I didn’t like the spicy mayo as it was kinda oily and congealed but the aioli is good 🤤 fast service and good vegan fast food experience!
Emma
The vegan nuggets here are amazing if a bit pricey. Good opening hours too during Friday and Saturday nights.
Have also tried their chick’n burger which was interesting. It’s a decent burger in its own right as long as you don’t compare it to or expect the taste of real meat. The patty itself is a bit strange, relatively soft but also contains fibre like things which you would expect to find in real meat. Taste wise it’s fine, I can’t really describe it since it’s relatively neutral and blends in with the taste of the burger. Not too big a fan of the vegan cheese used but most of that is likely due to not being used to it. Not sure if I’d be too keen on coming back for the burgers (but definitely for the nuggets!)
Eating My Way Around
I'm in heaven with a belly full of plant goodness. The worst thing about this place is deciding what to eat! Chikn burger and poutine fries were mamazingly good and filling. Cannot wait to try more. Staff were friendly and patient and only improvement would be tangier gravy.
Quinn Mai
Prompt and friendly service. I’ve had the sweet potato fries all the time. Sometimes it’s okay. Sometimes it’s burnt a bit. The store is located at a convenient location. Clean and nicely decorated. I’m not a fan of fast food but this place doesnt give me the “urggg” feeling whenever I walk into mc donald or kfc.
Alyssa Marie Acket-Morris
Staff were friendly and efficient, store well kept.

Unfortunately found the flavour of the Chick'N burger to be quite unpleasant. (This may be just my personal tastes have had vegetarian/vegan chicken before and really liked it). Fries were a decent size for the price, but the burger seemed very expensive for what you get. Overall a bit disappointed but wouldn't let that stop me from trying them out again.

Wonderful surprise to see it was vegetarian. First time my sister could order an original burger off a menu. Yummy fries. Large portions. Would have liked tomato in the burgers we got.
Chynal Ward
I come here without even realizing it was vegan! So we ordered our food went home and ate it thinking it was meat. But it was good, the "chicken" & chips were really nice,i wasnt to much of a fan of the burger though neither was hubby.
Adarsh Chaturvedee
The place is situated centrally and the store is very neat as well. The staff members are pleasant and make you feel welcome. The fries were good but sadly I didn't find anything special except for the volume. I had the kids classic fries and the quantity justified the price. It was a heavy-duty snack for the price I paid. I would surely go back for more as I intend on trying their burgers as well.
Aimee.
Another fantastic fully vegan restaurant. The burgers are huge and full of flavour- and mine had two patties. They give you a lot of fries even for the regular size. There’s a huge variety of different kinds of fake meat- chicken, beef and even fish. Unique and delicious place.

--- Background and Service ---
I've heard a bit about Lord of the Fries and wondered about trying it. My luck was in when I received a Vodafone Friday's voucher that gave me 2 for one of any Burger/Fries combination at Lord of the Fries. My cousin and I decided to go to the K Road outlet because it looked like our kinda' establishment.

Service was fine; the girl at the counter was polite and professional. The ordering process was okay, although there was no option to split the bill in a convenient way (i.e., you have to pay cash first in exact amounts, and then EFTPOS for the balance). This was a little annoying but not a deal-breaker.

You receive a little buzzer (similar to St. Pierre's Bento Bowl) where it beeps and buzzes when your order is ready. We didn't have to wait to long either and the food was presented reasonably well.

--- The food itself ---
We both got the Spicy Burger and Shoestring Fries with a side of onion rings to share. The fries were average; they were like regular shoestrings you could cook at home in your deep-fryer. Nothing fancy, but satisfactory.
The onion rings were really crunchy, which was good. I didn't mind them.
The burgers themselves, though, were really bland and dry. The jalepenos were hot, granted (I love spicy food actually being spicy), but the patty wasn't very nice at all. I only managed to get through three small bites of mine before discarding it and my cousin (who eats almost anything) exclaimed that he "didn't want to swallow" his first bite. We both ended up throwing away the majority of our burgers and settling with the chips and onion rings.

--- Conclusion ---
Service was good and decently prompt.
Chips were meh; not crunchy but edible.
Onion rings were nice and crunchy, though nothing amazing.
Burgers were bland and dry. No real taste. Unable to finish.
Unlikely to return, unfortunately.

Heaven! It really doesn't matter if you eat a Vegan diet or not, because this place offers great plantbased food for all taste buds! Loved the fact that you can eat delicious food and know they are better for you, from chips, burgers to fried goodies. Don't believe me? Try it yourself and find out.

I came here with my friend after hearing all the hype. I ordered the sweet potato fries and she’s ordered a mixed box and my conclusion is
Good fries
Great service
Sucky everything else
Stu
Ok so call me stupid but I had no idea this place served vegetarian burgers. I hadn't heard of it before I walked past. I presume it must say somewhere that it's vegetarian, but it certainly isn't obvious. I ordered an original burger based on the big glossy picture that I mistook for beef. But I certainly knew when I bit into it. Simply put, it was the worst burger I've ever had.

The fries were good but nothing special over other burger joints. Pretty average seating options if you're not looking to takeaway.

Not my scene and I definitely won't be back.
Matthew Buscke
It was a great meal . I was so high I didn't even realize it was all vegetarian.
So a great 5 star great service and bloody good food.A++...
Dimitrios Konstantopoulos
Just ok nothing special. You will not get disappointed but dont get too exited either.
Fries are fine and tasty but the burgers just average.
Reasonable prices. Looks good hygiene standards.
Would like to see a bit more.
Big statement big expectations.

Ordered the original burger which may now be my favourite go to. The classic fries with the french canadian sauce and vegan cheese however, was very disappointing.. the gravy and v/cheese was not a good combination and had a very strange taste. Sadly I had to chuck most of it away. Will definitely visit again for the burgers and might even give the fries another go with a different sauce.
Khaleesi
Ordered a mixed box with poutine sauce, big original burger, big poutine, tijuana amd peanut butter shake. The shake and mixed box was my favourite, I was really suprised by the big portion of the mixed box but I thought it was too much fries compared to rings and nuggets. Burgers and hotdog was bland, dry and not enough sauce. Would be nice if hotdog could be toasted. I would definitely be back to order mixed box and shake. Customer service was great and I like where its situated.
Vegan Eats AKL
Big portions, good food. Would definitely recommend at least trying this place. Only let-down in the past has been the service but when we went last night they very promptly and happily replaced my vegetarian burger with a vegan one.
Cara
Fabulous burgers just like the other auckland branch, I get takeaway from here. Don't forget the Kumara fries, you will not regret - soooo good
Lucyeatsakld
Have to say it was pretty average burger experience here after hearing all the hype. Maybe I ordered the wrong burger but my vege one was really really dry with amidst non-existent sauce. I expected the fries to be delicious and deep fried but were also super dry lacking crunch. Disappointed, probably wouldn't come back.
T
i ordered the nugs + parisian sauce (i tried them for the first time in aus and was OBSESSED so i had to give our lil ol' nz store a try) sadly both elements were overwhelmingly bland! i have MAD regrets dropping $8.50 on something i wish i hadn't even eaten but hey, ya live and ya learn! on a positive note the girl who served me was lovely!!
Dondon3000
Food was good for a vegetarian fast food joint. They also do vegan too. I ordered the Tijuana and little prince ordered nuggets and chips, our vegan guest ordered the sub.

The Tijuana looked smaller then when I last had it. But the sub looked amaZing 😉. Onions was lovely too but the Indian sauce has lost its edge.

It's always nice to eat plant based. I will eat it again with my friend. And little don't mind if the nuggets is chicken or vegetable base.

The sub was very messy to eat and the fries were very sloppy and soft if they can make burgers and subs to order then they should be able to fries like that too. That's why I rated them that and that was not the first time.

Do check it out. Give it a go
Kezia Lynch
Got the mixed munch box and a mini original burger (vegan). Really enjoyed the flavour and freshness of both! Service was good, as was value for money. Only criticism, the mixed munch box could have more onion rings and nuggets as it was fries heavy.
Jessica Ajami
Visited this place for lunch with a friend. Ordered the Original Burger, sweet potato fries and Chicago hotdog. Cool service. The hotdog was average not memorable or special but okay. The beef burger tasted like a vegan one for some reason. Bread and bun was not soft. Sweet potato was okay and portion was generous.
Jason Fernandez
The burger patties were bland. The burger itself was pretty mediocre as a whole. Fries were nothing special. $3 for sauce has to be a joke. If you are an omnivore I'd advise you to take your money elsewhere.

Visited 07/03/2017 at 19h00. St Kevins Arcade is a little GEM of Auckland . I am a meat eater with Vegetarian family. I ordered the Guru Burger - soft potato patty off a flat flavour, needed spicy sauce .Wife ordered Parma & had to ask for more sauce, kids took good sized hot dogs. Not sure if staff are vegetarian and have tried out the food to get an understanding of what sauce requirement is. Nice munchies.. honest food. Burgers need more sauce..these Soy or Veg patties can be rather dry. Chunky fries are good..hold back on the salt boys . I had left sauce selection to wife and this needed to go with a thick yogurty sauce not tomato sauce. GREAT for VEGETARIANS. Cover your bins please.

I went to this vegetarian burget outlet because the place was getting popular. I left with some mixed fillings.

The burgers here are smaller and less of quality compared to other handmade burger outlets such as Burger Burger and Velvet Burger.

The fries and the sauces felt pretty expensive. Was dissapointed to order an 8 dollar fries/nibbles box and get a pencil case sized box.

They promote themselves as "vegan burger that taste like meat". Well, their beef pattie tasted very vegetarian and lackster. The chicken pattie and nibbles, however, was amazing and we were surprised how real the chicken texture was. Definitely recommend chicken on their menu.
Cherries_inthesnow
Even though the vegan burger options in Auckland are limited, I'd suggest going to Burger Burger, Better Burger or any other burger joint if you want a satisfying meal. Having tried most of the popular choices on the menu, the only conclusion I have drawn is that these are overpriced pieces of slush. The fries left much to be desired, and the sauces just tasted strange. I love Burger Fuel fries and look forward to having them as a treat, but these just remind me of the frozen fries you'd get at Countdown. Why pay $7.5 when you can just buy them in bulk for less? Maybe I was just expecting too much, but don't be charging almost gourmet burger prices if you're only going to serve up barely fast food quality fare.

Food: 2/5
Service: 3/5
Presentation: 3/5
Price: 2/5

Great vegan and vegetarian options. All milkshakes were vegan and delicious. All meals were vegetarian and could be made vegan. Service was quick

Finally went for a visit after seeing all the hype on social media and to say the least it was a massive build ups. Don't get me wrong though, this place is awesome for vegans and is such an amazing takeout option for vegans. The fries were just as normal as any fast food chain. Giving props as there were different types of fries available.I got the French Canadian sauce and it appealed to me the most, however is was quite bland as it did not have much flavour.

Visited here today and I was impressed!
A good variety of burgers and delicious sauces. We ordered the spicy burger, the phish burger and the Parma burger along with fries and the sauce of the month.
The phish burger was delicious and tasted scarily the same as a normal fish burger. It was awesome. The spicy burger tasted great, however it was really cold compared to the other two burgers which was disappointing. The Parma burger tasted awesome too, however a little saucy for my friends preference. Over all, the food is great and you feel great eating it. Best vegan/vegetarian burgers and you don't even miss the meat!

We had lunch here yesterday and we were super impressed. We had burgers, hot dogs, fries and a peanut butter shake. All were vegan and delicious! The service was great and they were super accomodating - this will be a regular eating place for us from now on!!
