Review Yong's Hand Pulled Noodles - Auckland Central

Sanjeev NC
Firstly, it's on the basement floor. I struggled to find it for a while after walking past the building 4 times. Had the hot and spicy beef noodle soup. One of the yummiest soup ever. If you're tempted to add soy sauce all over your noodle, wait till you drink most of your soup as it changes the taste. If you're a spice lover, you'll love this.

Such a fan of Yong's! I go back everytime I'm in Auckland. The noodles are outstanding, highly recommend the chicken chow mein.

Have been a regular for two years and the food is absolutely amazing - hand pulled noodles are incredibly fresh and tasty - highly recommended:)

Always quick. Would recommend no 3 which I think is the Sichuan / dan dan noodles. They look plain but they’re super tasty

Located in the food court at the Atrium on Elliot. Good Chinese food that is authentic as far as I can tell.

Noodles don't get any better than this! The food here is incredible. Beware: the lines get long at lunchtime!

I wanted some kind of spicy noodle dish with beef so I went here, and asked the guy behind the counter.
They gave me a beef noodle dish with a bit of sauce so it's not soupy but not dry either, which is exactly what I wanted.
The handpulled noodles do taste fresh, but it looked like it may have been mixed with normal noodles.

The dish was tasty (only $10.90 as well) but slightly salty and could have been more spicy. Service was friendly.

My first visit was amazing (a few years back..) however things have changed. We asked for thinner noodle but apparently the lady at the counter did not listen? The signature dish was médiocre, présentable but not as good as it supposed to be. I would say the boiled fish with pickled cabbage & chilly on rice satisfied my hunger and stomach. But the appetiser - steamed chicken & chilli sauce was 😒 lame, disappointing, too salty, no freshness.

Have been wanting to try this place out for ages now. When I finally did, what I ordered looked no where like what’s on the menu and portion size is like 1/4 of what’s advertised. The food was nice though. To top things off, the lady behind the counter was so rude. She obviously didn’t want to be there and she had no customer services, no smile, no thank you. Just plain rude! I would avoid coming here!

from me, has been LanZhou, so many years. I am very confident to tell that their Ramen (兰州拉面) is not authentic. totally something else, not even close. very disappointing, my friend from Shan'Xi likes it. but my friend is a pig, eat everything and he doesn't know how to cook.

one of the best spicy fried egg plants i've ever had! the noodle portions big and seasoned well. very fast service, good staffs and great food. first time trying these dishes really blew my mind and the price was really good for what i get with the portion sizes. will return for more spicy eggplants.

I've been here several times for lunch and normally get one of the dishes with rice. The number 21 is amazing. Its a chilli chicken stir fry with veges and rice.

I'll keep coming back for more. At $12 and a decent portion you cant go wrong with 21. Don't know what they put in it but its addictive
. Tried the number 26 or 27 yesterday (the chicken and potatoes one) It was also very nice

Servings are WAY smaller than the Northcote Village branch of Yong's noodles. Still the same price though. Quality and taste are pretty much the same. I like the sichuan style noodles, although it's a bit confusing how the menu numbers are different in each store.

Love the originality of their handmade noodles here where it is just the rite gauge not too chunky or too thin, ordered the beef noodles and broth just nice n hearty not bad rates too.
Wonder why this popular food court closes so early at 6 or 7pm, they usually last to close too.

The words "hand pulled noodles" gave me high expectations and seeing all the photos of different noodles on the menu got me so excited! I chose to have the noodles with Sichuan style spicy sauce (dan dan noodles?). The taste however, was terrible and probably the worst bowl of noodles I've ever had in Auckland.
The noodles were hand-pulled, as they varied in thickness and length, but they were tasteless and all stuck together that it made using chopsticks meaningless.
The soup also had no taste, just extremely salty and full of msg.
I couldn't even finish half of it. It's cheap but not worth it.

I loved my lunch at Yong's. Was in the mood for something fattening and delicious so i got the fried pig intestine on rice.

This meal is not for lightweight eaters, but damn the pig intestines were good! Not a meal I would eat every week, perhaps once a month.

Creamy, crunchy, and oh so tasty, I would recommend this meal if you want something a little different to your usual meal treat.

Showstopper: I love how they shout out people's order number, just shows how busy this joint is.

Overall Grade: B+. Excited to try out their hand pulled noodles next time!

They yell out to thier customers, immediately ruining the atmosphere in the atrium. Everyone is stopping and turning everytime they yell. Ridiculous.

This is an awesome addition to the atrium foodcourt. I ordered the hot and spicy beef hand pulled noodle soup. Delicious and exactly what I needed when I had the sniffles. The broth was very full of flavour. For $9 I was very happy.

I ordered the beef hand pulled noodle soup, pretty average, lack of content it only had soup, noodles, a little beef and spring onions. I was only at this foodcourt because I was with friends otherwise there are better foodcourts/restaurants not far away, where you can get much better noodle soup.

I have been seeking for a taste of my hometown (Lanzhou) for quite long and eventually found this noodles from Yong's. It actually looks pretty similar to the one in my hometown, diced beef, sliced daikon, chopped spring onions and garlic bolts, got every same ingredients in the dish. Very surprisingly the noodles was pliable, but the bouillon tasted a little bit under seasoned. Generally I had a very delightful time there with the noodles and will definitely revisit.

Actual food looks nothing like the photos. Ordered #26 Big plate of hot and spicy chicken with potatoes. When my number was called, I looked at the bench and literally could not tell which one was mine. Only after putting on my Sherlock hat, I deduced my one must be the one with potatoes.

Taste: 2/5 looked nothing like the picture, nor was the taste overwhelming by any means
Value: 3/5
Service: 2/5
Overall: 2/5 with so many other options in the Atrium on Elliot food court, I find no reason to revisit this deceptive installation.

Really enjoyed the noodles, good quality and well priced. One of the stand outs in the Elliot St Food court. A good variety of choices and they're quick to bring them out, you're never waiting long. Will be back soon.

We shared a bowl of their beef noodles. Surprisingly amazing quality for the food court. You often see people enjoying big steaming bowls of noodles and we were no exception.
Most menu items average around $10, good pricing and generous serving sizes.

Got recommended the beef noodles. It was the $9 one
ehhh. Yeah taste like home plus MSG . Noodles were nice and chewy
Average, but I will come back to see why it's always so busy

Simply superb! With so many food vendors offering so many dishes at the Attrium on Elliott food court, it's usually easier to win Powerball twice in a row than find a meal that could be at home in a top flight restaurant, but for some reason I may have done it. I ordered the hand pulled noodles with Sichuan style spicy sauce... portion size was perfect (food court servings can get out of hand), the flavour combination sublime, the hand pulled noodles delectable, and combination of textures from the peanuts and pork rounded out a dish that was almost a work of art!

Yong's Hand Pulled Noodles, to put it simply, is average at best. I was looking for a cheap noodle house in the CBD and this is one of the few that popped up first.

We went on a Tuesday, after work, hence were not expecting a long queue. I ordered the hand pulled beef noodle soup (large, $9) and my fiancé had the hand pulled hot and spicy beef noodle soup (no size options, $9). I loved the texture of the noodles, they had just the right amount of chewiness and saltiness, however, I found the flavor of the soup lacking. To be fair, my fiancé loved his spicy beef noodle soup and said it is one of the best he's tasted. I only had a few sips of the soup, and it did had a good balance of sweetness and spiciness.

If you're craving for noodle soup then Yong's wouldn't be a bad choice, but if you want a quick hearty bite for less than $10-$15, I'd say there are a lot of better options in the city.

Had the Dan Dan noodle soup. Was reasonably cheap ($8) and the noodles were made on the spot. You can watch the chef toss them into the air through a small window on the side. Because of this the noodles were great, chewy and heavy. Asian style service (e.g not very enthusiastic) but at a food court all you are there fore is food.
