Love The backyard bar, service and report is really commendable. Recently have changed their menu. We tried the chicken burgers and tacos 🌮 😋 was delicious

April 2023 - Second time here with 12yr old daughter and after a year, the portion sizes don't seem as filling although we did purposely go in having fasted for 20hrs so maybe that was the difference and not effects of inflation. We ordered two mains (beef burger with fries and lamb rump roast) as well as a side of curly fries. The flavours were good, veges fresh and presentation was nice. Curly fries are amazing. Ended up ordering the chicken pizza as we were still hungry. Perfectly cooked and presented. The mango Bundaberg was a flavour I've not seen or tried before and it was one of the highlights. Excellent service from the staff and chill quiet atmosphere. Don't think I would attend here having to pay full price so thanks again to First Table. ‐-------------- April 2022 - Took a couple friends here for lunch. Easy location just off the motorway with ample parking nearby. Table was reserved thanks to our booking but the place wasn't too busy on a public holiday. Service was fast, friendly and efficient. First up we ordered some peach mocktails which were garnished with mint, sweet tasty and delicious. One of the group ordered a tap beer and it was chilled and well poured. The kids chicken pasta dish looked and smelled delicious and the child said it was cheesey and yum. The loaded wedges were stacked on a melted cheese base, covered in bacon and seasonings and topped with a generous serving of sour cream. Would be enough for a main or to share as a side between 4. The other chips and curly fries were so good and came with aioli and were big servings as well. I got the goddess salad which was fresh and came with watermelon cubes (yum) and a tasty vinaigrette. I ordered the salad as is (with the feta) for the photo but my friends happy added the feta to their loaded wedges. I also ordered the chargrilled broccollini which was so yummy, El dente if that can even be a term for vegetables and the slightly spicey sauce on the edge of the plate was a nice touch. My friends ordered the beef burger and said the patty was so tasty and delicious - highly recommended. The meat pizza had fresh toppings, crispy base and the cheeses were tasty. For dessert - the selection of sorbet was super sweet. The peach layer on the bottom was our favorite. Nice touch with the pistachio crumb topping. The sizzling brownie was definitely an exciting display and although tasted yummy, would suggest requesting the ice-cream on the side rather than on the hot plate. Enjoyed a couple friendly games of pool before we left. Good music (the classics) and good vibes. My friends are already planning their return visit.

Love the atmosphere. Friendly staff and good customer service. Happy hours finish at 6pm but the lovely waitress took our order at 6pm with special price. A bit disappointed with the steak and the ribs.

Almost perfect. My daughter and I come along on Tuesday evenings to join the bachata/salsa lessons. Never remember our drinks. I wanna go where everyone knows your name and if not, then your drink 🙂

Free fun for kids while grown ups have some fun of their own! Yesterday we went to the Backyard bar opposite Takapuna rugby club. The set up for kids is amazing. There is a swimming pool, bouncy castle and playground for the kids, craft beers for the grown ups and great food and live music for the whole family. Well be back!

Loved it. Great staff. Fantastic outdoor area and so clean. Yum bar snacks.

I've made this my local staff are amazing food is great weather your getting an actually meal or just a platter to share. The chicken nibbles are amazing.!!!! They also have Jager and rebull slushies!!!!! 100% would recommend this place.

Was at the backyard today for the big fight between Mayweather and McGregor. What a day. King Kapisi on the decks to keep us going before and after the fight. The staff were fantastic and deserve a mention. Clearly very busy but all staff professional, and willing to help. I would recommend this place for upcoming events. Definitely a bar / restaurant on the move up

We had our 40th birthday celebrations at the Backyard bar. Great place to throw a party. Nice venue.. Great food! Roger, Amandeep and their staff looked after us so well, thank you!

Not been here for about a year and always really enjoyed it , good pub food, the menu is great and loads to choose from. Mine was nice I had the pork belly and scallops all two of them and my wife and daughter had tbone steak which was over cooked and my daughter could not eat hers because it was literally charcoal on one side and just tasted like burnt and they had 9 chips between them so overall a disappointment.

Tonight my daughters 21st was held at The Backyard. The service was nothing short of amazing. They made the event stress free and totally enjoyable. Amandeep was a great contact person, nothing I asked for was a problem and he had quick answers for my endless questions. We also had Matt as a bartender who was brilliant, upbeat, funny and a pleasure to deal with. Highly recommend The Backyard for an event like a 21st

Its a bit pricey for both food and drinks but quality of both is good

The only bar I ever have a good time at! Had my 21st here and it was the most unforgettable time! Rodger and Amandeep and the rest of the Backyard team (also David our bartender) were amazing and provided such great service! So much love for the Backyard thanks so much guys ��

On a busy Friday night, the food was great (espically the ribs) staff were lovely and welcoming. My partner and I enjoyed the Jack Daniel cocktails. Will be back here for sure!

Service was slow- and Contactless dining didn't work. They told me their systems aren't updated and so if I order through Zomato I had to go to the bar and let them know. The ribs were ok- not worth $35. All in all, an ok bar to just have some drinks and snacks, but don't expect much.

Had an awesome dinner tonight. Aaliyah was very friendly and made us feel at home. We will be back.

They don’t accept gold membership on public holidays

I went for lunch for a friend's birthday and enjoyed the atmosphere in the bar/restaurant, however, this was greatly let down by the quality of the food. I ordered the Fried chicken burger and a Heineken draft. The beer was great...cold and from a fresh keg but the burger was not up to par. The burger is priced at $23.9 so expected a decently sized burger but instead got a small burger with dry hard chicken fillets and a few chips - maybe 10. <br/><br/>My total bill came to $35 for the burger and beer. <br/>This might be a good option if I wanted to watch the rugga or have a few drinks by the pool but wouldn't recommend it for lunch. Several of colleagues also approached me and were shocked at the prices they were charged in comparison to the quality of food they received.<br/> <br/><br/>The manager also looked like he was having a really bad day and kept giving our table dirty looks... I could be wrong but his facial expressions weren't very inviting and made us feel a bit awkward.

We stumbled upon the Backyard Bar this weekend and it’s a fabulous little spot!!! We dined at the poolside area and soaked up the sun. The food was good, very relaxed vibes and awesome service. Bonus = if you bring your togs you can use the pool till 8pm too. Perfect place to bring the family. Definitely will come back again!

Wonderful service by the young girl who served us. Disappointed by the salad that came with the coconut chicken and the fish and chips. Very wilted, end of the bag looking. Other then that the meals were good., very filling and good price with the 1+1 deal

We had ribs. It was big and so yamm. Meat is soft with lovely sticky source. Mexian style corn with hot and crispy chips are amazing. The best ribs I had so far. Staffs are frendly and kind. :)

Came in for lunch on Friday. Tried the beef burger, fries and salad. Salad had too much feta for my liking but the rest of the salad was very nicely portioned with different vegetables. Fries were crispy and came with aioli. Service was really good.

We came here with Zomato Gold and ordered the BBQ Baby Back Ribs and Spicy Tequila Chicken Pizza.<br/><br/>They first brought out the pork belly to us (which we did not order) instead of the ribs. We informed them of this mix up and they promptly brought out the correct meal for us. The ribs were flavourful, soft and fell right off the bone. The grilled corn with paprika butter was absolutely delicious and I would have loved to have more.<br/><br/>The pizza was alright, nothing too special. Chicken was a bit dry but I loved the abundance of cheese and jalapeños.<br/><br/>Service was an aspect that I wasn’t too impressed with, as we were completely ignored for the first five minutes we were in the restaurant. We felt very awkward, unsure of who to speak with to get a seat or if we were supposed to order at the bar. There was one waitress who I’m confident saw us standing there as we were quite obviously just standing next to her waiting to be seated, but ignored us altogether. Every time I tried to approach her or get her attention she would just turn away from us or walk away. A minimum of 5 minutes passed before we were approached by someone else, who seemed like he was in a managerial position, asking us if we were alright. We felt extremely awkward and neglected throughout the whole ordeal.

The food here is so lovely. Especially BBQ Baby Back BBQ, can’t be better lol. Also recommend The Backyard Fried Chicken as Entree, which is also so tasty!

I really loved the chill atmosphere. There are many areas to sit and seats are very spacious. <br/><br/>Considering it’s a bar, you wouldn’t really expect them to have amazing food. But the food here are amazing! Pork belly !! Omg !! It’s crazy !! We had a grab one voucher for Backyard and hadn’t been before so wanted to give it a go. We ordered the ribs and jalapeño poppers. <br/><br/>The sauce on the ribs was nice, really tangy and slightly spicy. However, the ribs themselves hadn’t been trimmed so they had a lot of cartilage and sinew. Also they were slightly dry. The chips were yum and I enjoyed the slaw but thought it could use some more acidity. <br/><br/>They also forgot to deliver us the jalapeño poppers but that was ok because the rib dish was huge and we were full. <br/><br/>Overall it was ok. Would give them another go, especially if I was just heading there for drinks and nibbles.

Very friendly, effient service. Food is very tasty and flavoursome. Very enjoyable. The only thing I wish for is the beef cheek can be as a main too (not just entrée size).

We have been here quite a few times before and loved it! Not sure what’s changed and why but we ordered a scotch fillet for $36 and it was just a piece of steak with 2 baby carrots and a few slices of potatoes! I was absolutely shocked. My daughter got the sirloin for $34 which was literally just chips and a piece of steak. Nothing else that was it! Absolute day light robbery. Very over priced for the amount of food. I thought maybe they forgot the rest of the meal as it said “golden potatoes” but nope. Such a shame because the previous times the food was great! Can’t say we will be coming back. For those prices you can get a really decent meal at plenty of other places.

Staff quite rude. Zomato says they're open until 12am, but upon entering the place (which was still full of people playing pool) well before that time, we were immediately shown the door.

I was charged $21.80 for a pizza base with a smidge of tomato paste and token handful of vegetables - even when I queried this, no correction was offered. Everything on the menu is overpriced, as are the drinks. You could go to a lovely bar in the central city or Takapuna for half the price of this joint. Most of the staff were decent, although I had an unfortunate run in with a particularly snide staff member. This place seems to be interested only in stepping up their prices and not their game - a poor tactic in an area spoilt for choice. You couldn't pay me to go back.

I couldn't fault our trip here. The portion sizes are on point for a pub. My kids swam while I had beer and nachos. Will definitely be coming back. What a fab place to go. Keen to try some more of their menu too. :)

09/11/18 - spend my friday night here with friend, they have amazing pool view, live music to enjoy.. one shot vodka for me always enough to light up the night, we have chicken wings and beef chili nachos for our dinner.. love it

I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, you pay a lot for nothing. You can go to much nicer places and I am sure I will pay less than what I paid, first and last time.

Went on a Monday evening for family event. Loved the environment, service and food. Bunch of platters and pizzas to share would definitely go back

The steak was cooked to perfectionand the fish and chips was so light and crispy. The nachos were huge! The cocktails were refreshing and the atmosphere had a great vibe.<br/><br/>

Went here for a gig, ordered curly fries, hot dogs & chicken nuggets. The curly fries were seasoned well. The portion of chicken nuggets was disappointing. They're were 4. The hotdogs were good though. The bar has a good vibe and the staff are friendly.

Whether you like this place or not really depends on what you order. The chicken cranberry pizza was delightful but the seafood fettuccine was creamy to a fault. The criss cross potato chips were good but quickly became too oily. I walked out of there feeling like I just went to KFC.<br/>The ambiance of the pub was nice although we asked to be moved back and away from the foosball table because the kids were super noisy.<br/>Service here can be hit and miss, the staff are friendly when you finally get their attention.

Nice place with a warm atmosphere, toilets are definitely not up to standards and the food needs some more love.i had the lamb shanks and even if the gravy and the mash were good the meat was chewy, the veggies boring and undercooked for my liking.

Tried this place again ...bought the kids in and Mrs ..service. Was ok ...but the food was ..very average ..again and greasy ...chips like Concrete and oil in the fryer has it been changed lately..steak gristly ?,,every thing was overcooked ...no fresh taste at all ,not overly busy there ,, very disappointed AGAIN,,,😡

This place ,has gone backwards ,since the new owners took over recently ,,shabby un kept decor ,and exterior furniture in a unkept state ,and the food is very average !,Just average all round ,a shame it's got so much potential to be better ..it needs a big upgrade inside and outside and it would attract a better and well healed class of people ..who would revive it ,....

Have only been here for a 21st and thought that this place is so hidden and secluded. Staff were friendly enough and the food was good (simple spring rolls samosas, hot chips etc catering type food)

Had bought a Grab One voucher for here after reading a few good reviews, but alas was very disappointed with the experience. For starters I checked out their website and thought the menu looked good as I read in one of the reviews on here the management had changed. When we got their the menu was given to us on a clipboard and was different to the website - when I mentioned this to the waitress she said they had changed it. To be honest there was nothing on this menu I wanted to eat! Junior had the kids meal - fish n chips, 2 of the smallest pieces of fish and a small handful of chips, no sauce, a drink and ice cream sundae. I shared a dozen hot wings (which weren't hot but were battered! yuk!) and a bowl of chips  -  if I had of known the menu had been changed I wouldn't have gone, but at least it was a voucher so it wasn't too bad, I guess. Won't ever be going back; couldn't understand the 4 and 5 star reviews on here??

Hi, we went here for lunch today...with grab one voucher. Service is appalling... wandered in, not sure where to go? Was eventally seated. Outside near pool... waited over 10 mins for service nothing. So came inside, thought we might have better luck inside... that didnt work either?? My partner got our menus off a table.. we were..............eventually<br/>Served. The meals were nice salad was a bit pricey for the size... i always get salads at restaurants... so small size for price.. not much flavour to it either? Other than that it was o.k.

Service was poor quality, I guess that's the lack of training provided by management. What does poor service look like - <br/><br/>The bar/restaurant was fairly empty on Mother's Day, they had 7 staff on<br/>- the waitress couldn't explain what was on the menu e.g how many ribs are there in a portion <br/>- we waited along time to get service to take our order or reordering drinks<br/>- the food was average quality e.g ribs were over cooked (chewy) Luke warm and the sauce over powered the flavour of the meat <br/>- the waiting staff were not attentive they walked pass without scanning our table. Where they would see that we needed more drinks or there are no serviettes.<br/><br/>You might put up with it if the food was cheaper but it wasn't, the mains prices were heading north. <br/><br/>The staff were not unwilling, they just have not been trained, so the responsibility rests with the manager. <br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/>

We enjoyed a great birthday function at The Backyard. It is a very relaxed setting, good food, range of wine and beers. Monga was fantastic with his cheerful and entertaining service. And given we were a fair size group he did an great job of looking after us. Well done.

Came here today with the post netball crush for some drinks with the team. Our group has been coming here quite regularly and it is a nice place with pretty good service/food, usually. Today my friend and I grabbed a smoothie (they seemed pretty confused when I ordered a smoothie even though it was clearly advertised) and a Speights and it was almost $18! This means that my drink would've been around $11 which is ridiculous. We also got some curly fries for $7.50 which wasn't as overpriced but they came to us not very hot. However, my smoothie was really good and it is a nice place, we are loyal for a reason! But the its just too expensive for what it is.

Came down to watch a bit of footy on th tv, ordered 2x fish burgers @ $18.50ea. What a mistake! Not only can u get a better fish burger from th local fish/chip shop for a quarter of the price but even tho it says it comes wth an egg, well it's just egg mayo! Had to add a fried egg for xtra $3. Waiting staff just standing around. Disappointing. Looks like more attention was being paid to the patrons by th pool. One of th guys waiting on us was really good but other than that I Won't be coming back. Do not order any burgers.

Where else can you take the family for a dip in the pool and get a great meal to boot? Think country club without the $$$ and the snobbiness? <br/>The backyard has changed hands since I last visited and you can see. Great quality meals with a good selection. Well priced but without compromising on value. <br/>I decided to try the rice balls with the truffle and parmasen aioli. Ordered a couple of burgers. Chicken was tender and tasty. Burger was massive. <br/>This is a little hidden gem on the shore which deserves to shine. Serves meals throughout the day. Staff are super friendly helpful when choosing from the menu.

Stopping here for a refreshment was the best idea I have had all year, just as I was about to give up on the hospitality industry all together I stumbled upon this gem. They really do have everything, plenty of comfortable seating, Ice cold drink deals, (really really well priced drinks) delicious coffee, a backyard grass area to chill, cocktails, Amazing food & food deals, Live Band's and DJ's, Outdoor Barbecue, Playground (yes a playground which is great to keep the kids entertained) a Swimming pool, A SWIMMING POOL! A motel next door for when you've had too much to drink or if you get lucky ;) Plenty of Live Sport, a pool table, Venue hire, giant fish tank, Amazing social atmosphere, extremely friendly staff with great service, very tidy and clean enviroment with decor to match, the list goes on... I dont usually get to say this but I highly recommend The Backyard and I give Them 10 out of 5 for their above perfect form. Looks like I have just found my new local! Mr. Grey signing off.

If you want a quite and just relaxing bar without the noise... this is the place. Beers could be a bit pricey and kinda limited, like there are no Asian beers....

As a family we dinned in at the Backyard and were served by a very friendly and joyful crew of staff.  Our main waiter was Monga who was great and made us feel welcome and relaxed.  It was a share pleasure dinning at the Backyard

To celebrate my friends birthday we went to this lovely place for some drinks n food. The choice of the food was amazing and interesting. The staff was very very friendly and supportive to explain us what should we eat. We tried pizza n burgers here which I must say were the best I have ever had. Would love to go to this place again n again with our family n friends. Kids had a blast too. I reckon this is the best outdoor bars in Auckland.

After hitting a few balls at the driving range and some practice putting we went for lunch at the adjacent Backyard, one of a number eating options at the Poenamo Hotel complex. We sat outside in the "backyard" by the pool, and were thankful for the shade umbrella as it was a was very hot day. We ordered the Herb Arancini, fries with aioli, BBQ pulled pork on tortillas, and cheese pizza bread to share. The meals were delivered promptly, were nicely presented, and the service was very good. The standouts were the Arancini and BBQ pulled pork which were both well presented and deliciously tasty. We took the waiter's advise and added bacon topping to the pulled pork, and it added a nice contrast in taste and texture with the apple salsa. The cheese pizza bread had a splash of balsamic which also added the extra element of flavour. Overall a very nice spot to sit outside by the pool with a cool beer and enjoy a leisurely lunch.

I came here a couple of months ago and had the most amazing pizza, but I went this week and noticed the menu had changed. I ordered pizza anyway and told my friends that they should order pizza too as they are amazing. The options for pizza were pretty underwhelming, I ordered a cheese pizza, it was very cheap looking with oily cheese that went cold and hard in 5 minutes, and nothing like what I'd ordered a couple of months before. Certainly not worth 21.50. My partners chips were also cold.

Been here 3 times, amazing food and really friendly service. The backyard burger is probably one of the best burgers I've ever had. Highly recommended.

Having seen the recent bad review of this place I was extremely hesitant in even using the all you can eat ribs Grabone voucher. I can happily say I'm glad we made the decision to go ahead and try it out anyways, surprisingly we actually had a pleasant experience. Despite a busy Saturday night, we found we were served quite quickly and the waiters were great. While ribs were slightly tough they were still tasty. Good night overall.

Really disappointed I wasted my money at this place. Purchased an all you can eat ribs voucher from a deals site for this place and we had a booking on a relatively quiet night. Service was generally slow and inattentive and seemed that they divvy up their staff between the bar and restaurant section which really does make it difficult for the dining experience.  It took us 20 minutes just to receive water and longer again to receive our first plate of ribs. Took another 15min after we had finished our first plate for staff to even ask if we wanted another. OF COURSE I WANT ANOTHER! I came for all you can eat ribs, not one plate and leave ribs! On arrival of the second plate we were meet with a pathetic three straggly ribs. We just couldn't be bothered waiting around all night for them to try and make us more pissed off waiting in anticipation for these micro plates of ribs to arrive, so we just left. Obviously they rely heavily on these voucher deal sites to stay in business and not on return customers. It really is not a good business model to follow.

I was here yesterday for my birthday. We got the All-You-Can-Eat ribs voucher from GrabOne. Honestly, I was quite hesitant and afraid because of the negative reviews. I was looking for other restaurants and got impatient, so I didn't bother looking at the reviews for this one. When we entered the place at around 7, it was rather empty. Then again, it was a Thursday night - circumstances might be different on a Friday or Saturday night. Two of us ordered the ribs, and another two ordered the loaf and the Fisherman's Basket. When the ribs came out, it was lukewarm. I expected it because of the reviews, however, I'm not a particularly fussy eater so I was okay with it. The meat was tough though. The Fisherman's Basket was quite a good choice according to the two. They commented that the fries were well-cooked, a rarity in most of New Zealand restaurants and takeaways that we've been to (a good few dozen). After my serving of 5 ribs, I had room for more so I ordered 2 more (individual). They brought me 3, because two of the pieces were rather small. When those were served, they were darn hot. I understood (unless mistaken) why my first serving of ribs were not piping hot - they aimed to bring everything out at the same time! If you wish for your ribs to come out hot, I'm sure you can ask them to bring it out first before it gets too cold. The fries and the Cobb loaf that came with the ribs were amazing too. I didn't give the full points because the meat was slightly tough, but still happy enough to find it delicious. Also, service was not 100% excellent, but it was great enough that we could enjoy our meals. Overall, it was a good experience, despite the reviews. The fact that there weren't many people will have contributed to the positive experience too, I'm sure.

We walked in, ordered our first round at the bar, asked for menu's and sat in the restaurant  area. It took the waitress 10 minutes to come over, she seemed very stressed out. There were only 3 other tables in the restaurant. Once she took our order, she then disappeared into the kitchen. Not once did she come back and ask if we wanted another drink whilst we waited 45 minutes for a mediocre meal. My partner went up to the bar twice to get himself 2 more beers. My partner ordered the ribs, i ordered chicken breast, we both work in hospitality and have manager experience. Once we received our meals we never had a meal check. My partners ribs had a skin on the sauce like it had sat under the hot plate for at least 10 minutes and were luke warm when bitten into. The chicken breast that I had ordered seemed average at first until I took a bite and realised it was raw. I now have food poisoning. When brought to light with the manager and the staff about this situation it was not dealt with correctly. Due to the waitress being no where to be found I had to take my own plate back up to the bar to show them the raw chicken. The response I got from another waitress when she glanced at my plate she replied "I have to wait for your waitress to come back out." The manager gave us no compensation or offer to replace our meals and my partner was furious at this response. We still paid for our drinks as they were not contaminated and it was the correct thing to do. However, I recommend others not to attend this restaurant with poor service.

I took my family to celebrate my sister's birthday. We were all disappointed with the "Eat All you can ribs". Very slow service, the size of the ribs are getting smaller and smaller, overall NO GOOD.

Tonight I redeemed three deal vouchers for the all-you-can-eat ribs special. The chips were fine (hard to go wrong there, though). To say I was disappointed in the quality of the ribs, however, would be an understatement. For a start they were rubbery. Second, they were not properly marinated, but smothered in a thick barbecue sauce. Nor was the meat properly cured (salted). Without the sauce, they were bland and tasteless. In fact, the meat was so tasteless that I could not tell what kind of meat I was eating. We complained to the waiter about the food, but his attitude was one of 'Don't shoot the waiter'. A very disappointing dining experience all round. Do not eat here. But if you must, do not order the ribs whatever you do. Needless to say I will not be returning to the Backyard Bar in the future. A shame since the location is so handy.

$10.50 for a tap beer! Service was poor. OK two of the people were 'new' but the guy training them didn't have much more experience. <br/>Food was nothing to rave about and for what we got it was expensive. My 3rd visit to the Backyard bar for a meal and will not be returning in a hurry.

We live so close to the Backyard, it's a real shame that it was so terrible :( I don't think we enjoyed anything that we ordered, and the service was not very good either. I ordered the ribs, which were the most horrible, rubbery texture, it was impossible to even cut them away from the bone with a steak knife. I ended up sending them back and requesting it be removed from my bill. My partner had a chicken burger and potato wedges which had the strangest dome of congealed sour cream on top, it was not appetising at all even though it was the most edible thing we received. Sadly, that wasn't a compliment. We won't be back.

What a shame. Bought a voucher deal for a platter and two drinks. Started off well, got my wine straight away and the kids drinks. My husband then arrived and had to wait 30 minutes for his beer the platter arrived and most of it was nice enough. The kids food was great and arrived in good time and then it got a little busy. My coffee took 45 minutes to come and the kids 3 hot chocolates an hour, the cheesecake an hour and a half which ended up as a takeaway. The service was awful and the couple next to us walked out. The pool was clean but the hotel care for that not the bar. Thankfully they forgot to charge us for 20 percent of what we ordered which was good as it wasn't worth paying for.

Monday night not many people in the place. We ordered our drinks and a meal each, over an hour and three drinks later no meals. Hate to see how they operate with a few more meals ordered.<br/>Will be back for a drink but not a meal.......... too slow..........

If your looking for cleanliness, maybe don't arrive at this restauarant at 5.30 on a Tuesday evening, the tables where dirty and there was even a chair laying on its side in the restauarant, the staff where cheerful and helpful, but seemed untrained. I ordered the blackboard special, steak egg chips and beer (the beer was included) $20 and my partner ordered a pizza, which was about $19, well I have the bill on my visa card and it came to $68.64.<br/>go figure folks

First time to be here and they have good food and drinks, just right with the price.<br/><br/>The only negative thing that I would say is the location of "stage" or area where the band is performing. Definitely you can hear the band from the back of the room we were sitting on the booths in front of the bar, but, it would be nicer if we could also see them.

A couple of friends and I are on holiday here from the Gold Coast and we came to eat at the Backyard on Saturday night.<br/>A friend of ours recommended it to us after having the Scorpion Fish not so long ago, so we decided to come try it out for ourselves. AMAZING! Very lovely dish, cooked to perfection.<br/>The service here is excellent and very "hospitable." <br/>Should we be returning to New Zealand in the near future we will most definitely be returning. Well done to the Backyard team. Keep it up.

Having eaten here a few times, it has always been a great experience, the food is excellent with the option of a full service restaurant or bar food and staff friendly and attentive. Thanks
