Review Sal's - Auckland Central

This Sal's Pizza place is special because of the lovely service we received from the lady behind the counter. She sounded middle eastern and was so so kind and lovely to us. The pizza was made to perfection and we even ordered more to take home. We often go to the one in Takapuna but this one is so much better. The atmosphere was also beautiful with lots of seating outside and inside too. It is set back from the road so you don't really feel like it's a great food joint. The kids loved it .

Whenever I crave buffalo wings and American-style pizza, my top choice is always the Parnell location of Sal's. Their dishes are consistently fresh, delicious, and never fail to impress me. Despite having other Sal's branches to choose from in Auckland CBD, I always opt for this particular one. I typically place my orders through Uber Eats, and I must say that this Sal's branch is the best when it comes to meeting my expectations. Given the nature of using a delivery service, it's crucial that the order notes are not missed. Fortunately, Sal's Parnell is quick, efficient, and attentive to order notes, making my experience seamless and enjoyable.

Adele and the team at Sals Parnell are legends, always great food and really quick service. Loved the slice of pepperoni, loads of toppings and the base was perfect. James Ashwin

A good not too complicated takeaway slice. Full pizzas are pretty expensive but a slice isn’t too bad. Very friendly staff every time I’ve gone, and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.

Really good service. Great pizzas. This is my favourite branch of sal's. The tall staff member was really polite and soft spoken.

PARNELL SALS’ is the best branch! Hands down! I come from new Plymouth and my first stop is usually Sals’s. The owner and staff is incredibly hospitable. And they make sure their quality stays the same. They go out of their way to accommodate choices and quite frankly I don’t think other sals even come close. Highly recommend!

Great NY style pizzas. No good if you like thick bread base but I like it thin

I always go to sals parnell when I'm able to, and whenever we are hanging out as a group me and my friends get sals. I love the pizza and garlic nuts, and it is really good here!

Ordered this off uber eats, PRICEY but definitely worth it. I absolutely enjoyed this meal, I'll have content on YouTube eating this on TANIA SOUTH 😅. I highly recommend the buffalo wings 🤤 it's a 10

Always been 'skeptical' about Sal's Pizza..you know, the hype about 'the NY Slice' etc & the price doesn't quite add up to the 1 slice + limited options for vegetarians...BUT, I have to say, HANDS DOWN THE BEST SLICE OF PIZZA I'VE EVER HAD...!! DEFINITELY RECOMMEND PEOPLE TO TRY SAL'S..!! 🍕🍕🍕👍👍👍

Staff members are friendly, courtesy, patient and accommodating. I guess I'm always lucky that they always have some pizzas available when I'm there, albeit the ones with their standard toppings only: pepperoni, chicken, and cheese. The pizza, the knots and sauce are yummy, and flavourful.

Went to Sals Parnell in auckland. Such amazing service and the food was delicious. I believe our servers name was Tino, so helpful and made the best pizza I’ve ever had!

This particular Sals is great for a dine in and they have both indoor and outdoor seating. Parking can be easily found around the side streets.

The veggie pizza was yummy! Thin crust and lots of toppings. They cooked the veggies to perfection, capsicum was crispy and mushrooms were tender.

The store has a great location. It looks great too. The pizza was awesome as always. The crust was a little crunchier than what I would have liked but that didn't take away the sheer freshness of the pizza.

Friendly staff, very accommodating with orders. Allowed us to mix and match pizzas. Nice ambience with plenty of indoor/outdoor space to sit depending on your preference. Delicious pizza - could perhaps do with a wider menu. Nice that they can serve alcohol too.

My office was actually just opposite Sal's and we used to frequently end up getting some slices or some pizzas as a whole. The garlic knots are fabulous, soft and delicious, I'm not a big fan of the regular pizza flavours like Cheese and Pepperoni, but I do liked the Brooklyn pizza which was full of fresh meat and some aromatic herbs.

This review is more based off the food and deliver service as I have never been in store. Each time I have online ordered from here the food was up to the same quality as all other sals pizza joints. Delivery is always made on time and the food is always warm! Recommend garlic knots and mozzarella sticks - yum!!!

The pizza taste okay I ordered box of pizza and I didn't expect them to be that big. Fresh and quite cheap. Worth a visit if you're hungry. Ill try other flavour next time

Asked for a bit of buffalo sauce to be put on top of my otherwise plain boring and overpriced slice of not fresh, cold cheese pizza. The Guy refused. I asked again nicely he refused. I asked again he angrily agreed ( topping an overpriced slice of cheese pizza with sauce is a pretty simple task which even a blind domino's employee could pull off ) so when the slice was served they had poured what appeared to be a cup full of sauce over the pizza in some kind of protest against my request to have them "go out of their way" and add a bit of flavor to the otherwise bland slice. do not be fooled by the photo i have provided... there was more sauce than pizza!!!!

I love a bit of Sal's when I'm in the mood for a take away pizza, and the Parnell branch has yet to disappoint. Consistently good pizza. Very busy, though, so you may need to wait a while for your order -I would recommend ordering ahead. Had one instance where they were clearly understaffed and I had to wait 30 minutes for my pizza, but they were very apologetic and gave everyone a voucher for a free pizza so all was forgiven!

Awesome NY style pizzas. Easy to order over website. I was so impressed by the service here - we were sitting outside with our dog and they even brought out a sal's branded dog water bowl for him to use. So nice!

Love the pizza from here! Its really filling and delicious and of course the Ben and Jerry's ice cream is amazing as well! The staff here are also really lovely. I was served by a really cute girl (I think her name was Heloisa) when I last went there and she was super friendly and kind! Highly reccommend :)

There's something satisfying about ordering a pizza the size of a small child. There's something even more satisfying about eating said pizza because pizza is delicious - especially Sals. The base is crispy, the toppings simple, the taste is incredible. Plus, if you don't finish your pizza it is amazing reheated in a frying pan (trust me I am a seasoned veteran). If you feel like branching out, I highly recommend the Mozzarella Sticks, Pepperoni Wheels and the Hot Wings, with a tub of Ben & Jerrys thrown in just for fun- why not?<br/><br/>While dining in is good, I'm very glad they're offering home delivery again! The added bonus of phone ordering is that half the time you'll get your order taken by a man who sounds like Batman, which is something I never thought I'd look for in a pizzeria, but is now a huge factor in whether or not I leave satisfied.

Sal's is good honest American style pizza. The crust is not too heavy and has a good chew. The sausage and meatballs have good flavour, and I always have time for pepperoni! Several levels up from the mainstream chains

I 💖 Sals pizza, it is my favourite pizza. Large American style slices. They also have these amazing Pepperoni and mozzarella wheels which I can't walk away without one. They also stock Ben and Jerry's in small and large take home sizes. Basically everything to make you feel like you are in the states!

I love pizza and this place has huge slices of pizza. The sauce isn't anything special but the amount of cheese they put on each slice is just ridiculously plenty. You could see the cheese stretching when you take a slice. Best New York pizza in Auckland!!

Words cant even explain the taste. The sides are heavenly. The pizza is huge and delicous 5/5 for sure. Come here every month. A family treat for sure

Our favourite go to pizza is just around the corner. A huge slice or two will keep you going or Oder a whole pizza to share between 3 or 4 :-) a little greasy but pretty tasty. My fav is the pepperoni n's my husband loves the chicken with all the 'sprinkles'. Great beer on tap and yummy cider too

Ok , I love pizza and Sals pizza is the best pizza I have ever eaten. It's as simple as that! Not only are they huge but they are just so delicious even the cheese pizza (which happens to be one of my favorites)they also offer amazing sides like garlic knots ( the best thing ever invented) pepperoni wheels , cheese stick, chickens wings , chicken salad and now Ben and jerrys ice cream. Nothing compares to this pizza in New Zealand and I don't know why others try to compete to be honest. My wife is American and she has said it is just like eating a New York slice. I absolutely love this place and now crave Sals pizza all the time! I had never really tried a New York style pizza before, so the first time I came here I didn't understand it and thought it was super average.<br/><br/>On my second visit, I ordered the same pizza (pepperoni) and just loved it. Really simple toppings, thin base, quality ingredients and delicious pizza sauce... make it so soo good. Especially with a heap of parmesan and chilli flakes on top.<br/><br/>I also love the original buffalo wings.. (these are super spicy) YUM. Such a great fast food place with quality food. I'll definately be back.

THE PIZZA WAS FREAKIN HUUUUGE!! but managed to finish with a friend. One slice= 2 Pizza Hut slices tbh. Really tasty but flavours are a bit heavy. Started feeling sick and bored after 2nd slive. Make sure u eat it with friends!!! I got the sausage+mushroom pizza btw, was so good. Crust is thin and crisp. Loved it. Will return.

The sals franchise have really kept up with their consistency throughout the shops. <br/><br/>Awesome pizza as always and I love how they sell the Home Grown juice range. Came here for a work lunch and really enjoyed it! The pizza was great and so were the wings! The staff were a bit lackluster at best and the only real low point to an otherwise great lunch.

Sal's pizzas (pezze?) are genuinely as good as their NYC equivalent. Big slices, high quality cheese and only one type of topping (either sausage, pepperoni or meatball.) Sold by the slice. I've eaten my fair share of pizza in the Big Apple, and Sal's does not disappoint.

Real New York pizza in Parnell? Surprisingly good - thin with a wood fired crusty flavour. It is possible to purchase by the slice, and even though I expected it to be stale and dry, they recooked it, with extra pepperoni and it was as good as new :-) Nice booth style seating gives the restaurant a stylish fresh look compared with the alternatives.

On a cold, wet Saturday evening the wife and I decided to check out Sal's pizza after hearing all the rave and rumors about how great their pizza's are. <br/><br/>I called in to ask for a pick up and the guy over the phone was really friendly and took my order down with no hassles. We only ordered one pizza which was the 18" Veggie for $32. It's pricey for a pizza but I'm the type of person to fork out a little more if the quality of the food is good. <br/><br/>Drove on down to pick up the pizza but I had to wait a few more minutes as it was still in the oven. This gave me a chance to check out the place a little more in detail. Most of the decor is colored in tasteful red and black. There are about 5 booth tables (1 table could seat about 4 people) on the inside and there's an al fresco option too with the shade to cover you if you choose to go that way. There's a fridge with soft drinks and a unisex bathroom (?) for your convenience.<br/><br/>Got the pizza and man it was massive, but the best part was that it smelled incredibly delicious and the taste was un-imaginably delicious. The veggie pizza had just simple ingredients which are cheese, mushroom, green capsicums and that's it, all on a perfectly balanced sweet/tangy tomato paste. The dough of the pizza had this flavor as if it really came out of a stone oven and it really is something I have not tasted in any pizza place I have been to in NZ. The dough is a really important part of the pizza as it is the whole foundation. These guys as Sal's have got it right and it was honestly the best pizza eating experience we have had in a while. <br/><br/>If there was anything I would want to improve about Sal's is to have a few more options for sides e.g. NY style fries or something that screams out "New York!!" to set it apart; also it wouldn't hurt to have a pizza of the month special so there's always something new for people to try.<br/><br/>Thank you guys, and we'll definitely be back again!

I hadn't tried Sals before today but had heard how good it was and seen the oversized pizza boxes been carried home by many people before. While I'm not a huge pizza person and I did find the pizza a bit greasy it was really tasty and the slices are massive! I had a slice of the pepperoni and tried the bfs chicken and tomato, the pepperoni was the winner. We also had half a lb of the buffalo wings which are pretty awesome, never having tried them before I must say I got home and googled recipes for buffalo wings straight away as they were that good!

Sal's is your typical New York slice joint, which is a pretty novel concept in New Zealand. It's quite authentic - tasting just like the 99c slice you get at every corner in the Big Apple. It's even packed and presented the same way! Except its $5 a slice.<br/><br/>The friendly staff always reheats the slice before serving it to you, but try to get a slice of a pizza that comes fresh out of the oven.<br/><br/>Don't get me wrong - it's a good snack to grab on the way, but not satisfying enough for me to call it dinner. But if you have never tried true American style pizza, no other place in Auckland comes closer to a New York slice than Sal's.
