Good place to stop for a quick sud and reasonably priced. The locals are easy to chat to and have a laugh with. I was served by Sunny with a smile, who was polite, welcoming and friendly 👌💯 😊

It's pretty decent place for catch ups and events !! I wonder why we missed out on this space before ..great customer service with personal touch

Great as they let you pre-order for lunch so you can have a nice lunch on a work day quickly. Menu needs an update/change every now and again we have stopped going as no specials and never anything new. Smoking area can sometimes means restaurant also smells of cigarette smoke too.

Nice little bar area. Was there for a social. Might need more seating. bar staff are very helpful. Decor needs an upgrade. Other than that a pleasant night out.

Great place to play Texas Holdem Poker three times a week, Tuesday 7pm, Thursday 7pm and Sunday 2pm. Hosts Oceans Elite run a tight ship and great prize money. Best poker in Auckland..

I might be a tad biased because these guys are my local but the food and service here has really improved over the past couple of years. Prices are competitive, they have good specials, decent food and a fairly wide menu for a bar in such an industrial area.

a great kiwi pub that feels like home.
great service makes you feel very comfortable and the outdoor smoking area is nicely separated from the rest of the bar. Pool table adds points.
You can always tells how good a bar is from how many locals congregate at the end of the working day. This place packs out from 6pm weeknights and is basically a full on nightclub on saturday nights.
Can't go wrong for a few with mates

Food here is average, steak was not medium rare so had to get it cooked some more. Place is great as a venue for a 21st and is a nice chill place to be at.

Always know of this place, each time I go there it surprise me with nice big and good vibe.

I was gonna drop by for a beer, but ended up getting my mate for a dinner.

We started with Antipasto, dish up a big portion of roast beef, prawns, scallops, tasty chicken pate, olive, caramelised onion and some more. Good snack for five. We later on order Angus beef burgers and tandoori chicken burger, bun is soft, crispy slaw with think cut chips. Enough for two to share.

Good service, chilled vibe and tasty food.

Dined on great 3 course meal for two people on 2nd October. Have skimmed the previous reviews and they seem similar to our experience. Our food was all delicious! Seafood linguini was seasoned well, Angus steak cooked well-done to my liking and the cheesecake and chocolate pudding desserts were also lovely. We also ordered drinks. The service was excellent. Although the food and service could not be faulted as a fine dining experience, they are at odds with the 'sports bar' atmosphere.

Just finished a nice 3 course meal, gotta say we loved it good value as I will definitely be going back, good service, good seating and that Basil Brushetta was yum

Actually really really impressed.
East Tamaki isn't known for it's restaurants and our expectations weren't high. Service was relaxed and friendly, food was well presented and as tasty as anything served in town.
Only real downside was being seated next to a wall mounted TV that was quite loud and was a bit of a distraction to conversation.
Definitely going again, thanks guys =)

We had Grabone vouchers for a 3 course set menu and there were 6 of us eating + my 2 toddlers. We all ordered drinks which came promptly and were nice (I think an essential part of ordering when you got a cheap meal as a courtesy to owner) and we were all really impressed with the food and service. My linguine was delicious, the steak succulent and the cheesecake desert amazing! Others on our table had the fish and the choc pudding and were equally impressed. The only reason it wasn't a 5 was the ambiance was still a little stark and the pokie machines were in full view and there wasn't change facilities for babies, but there was 1 highchair which was good, I just provided my own portable as a 2nd one.

My friends & I had a couple of dinner vouchers at The Waypoint. They were good for entrées, mains & desserts. We ordered some beers. For entrées we had basil bruschetta with cheese feta and linguini with scallops & bacon; for mains we had roasted angus scotch fillet with spinach & mashed potato and beer battered fish & chips; for desserts we had raspberry cheesecake with ice-cream and chocolate pudding with ice-cream. The entrées were ok, although I preferred more cheesy linguini. Fish, like the entrées, needed more seasoning; my steak was tough - well-done instead of medium rare. The desserts were excellent. At least, we ended on something enjoyable. (Food - 3.5/5; Service - 4/5; Ambience - 3.5/5)

This unassuming venue is nestled amidst an industrial area in the East Tamaki back roads. From the moment we arrived Nikki greeted us and absolutely made this visit one to remember. My sister in law and I sat down to a wonderful 3 course meal which was enjoyed with a bottle of Settlers Hill Pinot Gris that complimented the meal well. The standout meal was the mains which was a perfectly cooked angus fillet in a red wine jus. The spinach and mushrooms worked well with the fillet and did not outdo the flavour of the fillet. The chocolate pudding with hints of ginger was well paired with a streak of caramel sauce that blended well with the kiwi classic of hokey pokey ice cream. Service was impeccable and I like how Nikki kept us informed of when the meals were being served, always a good thing when one arrives to an eatery hungry! We will be back! I'd like to see this place used more as its food is excellent. Complements to the chef on the afternoon of Saturday 4th July !!

It's somewhat bizarre that the majority of places you go, it's the customer service that leaves you feeling a little awkward. Maybe they leave you alone with the menu for too long or you're in dire need of a refill but securing the attention of the wait staff makes you want to shout 'garcon' at the top of your voice like Pumpkin from Pulp Fiction. Not so with The Waypoint. The staff are some of the most attentive and friendly you're likely to meet. The food is good but not spectacular. There's certainly room for improvement there but an excellent experience all-round.

Went here last night for a fundraiser quiz night... Oh my word it was packed to the rafters every seat taken and more added from the look of it. The staff were spectacular, we only ordered chips, wedges and a platter with spring rolls, samosas, prawns in filo pastry, fish sticks and they were devine. Looking around the room at what the staff were bringing out for others the burgers looked huge and gr8 value for money, desserts looked fantastic. This is a hidden gem in East Tamaki never knew this place exsisited, gr8 atmosphere and music by live band. Its a lovely casual, relaxing place and the sports side/TAB wasnt too much in the lovely decor.

Shane and the staff are super helpful and friendly, but the real star is the food. Definitely worth trying, the rare roast beef sandwich is outstanding and really reasonably priced. Give it a go!

Shane and his team at The Waypoint in East Tamaki have a great thing going. Good service where the staff come to ensure that you do not go thirsty or hungry. The chef`s turn out an excellent variety of lunch dishes that are good value as well.
Cerviche, yum!! Lots of others. would definitely recommend this place and meet them their for some light refreshments.

The Waypoint is our go-to place in the Highbrook/Botany area. It's a great casual spot for a few after work drinks and a nice meal. The staff are super-friendly and the food is top-notch.

The menu has a lot of variety but in my opinion you can’t beat the BBQ pork ribs on the bar snack menu ($12), or the french rack of pork on the restaurant menu (a bargain at $27.50). From the road frontage, it may not look like somewhere that has a fabulous restaurant menu so be prepared to be pleasantly surprised. We also held a function here (in 2014) and received numerous positive comments from the guests - it’s a great spot for private functions with an abundance of parking and a bar manager and chef who are more than happy to work with you to design your event.
