Review Cafe Brioche - Auckland Central

PP CC
Nice little cafe on 73 Remuera road. Has indoor and outdoor seatings. Barrister did a good job on the coffee. But the ice chocolate is not as good. In general the staffs are nice and friendly. Decorating is just fine, outdoor table some of them are wobbly, which causes drinks to spill. Nice place for business meeting, sort of private, parkings right in front of the main building, street parkings also available.

Coffee was surprisingly good if it comes with double shot espresso. Breakfast is freshly made but average.

the only thing i can. say that's positive is the coffee is ok. We had a salt and pepper squid and a steak sandwich. My partner was asked how she would like her steak done, she said medium to rare. The piece of steak that came out was over cooked not seasoned. Might have had a piece of old leather boot and we would not have known the difference. The salad that came tithe the steak sandwich was stone cold. My calamari and salad was awefull. It was the frozen squid you buy in the supermarket and I think it was just defrosted in the microwave and served on my plate. the salad was a total disappointment. no seasoning and not a drop of dressing. I will never have a meal here again, I could have done a far better job at my own house for half the price.

Customer service was good.. Went to eat fish and chip, but the staff said the fish gone bad...so I change to smoke salmon meal and it wasn't smoky, Tks

We ordered 3 vegetarian omelettes and 2 coffees. Flat whites were perfect but the omelettes tasted of powdered eggs costing us $15 each. Plus it took half hour to bring out the omelettes. We were told that they were trailing a new chef but a half hour wait is still unacceptable.

I have visited the place many times with my friend. Their hospitality is great.

This is a nice little local café for me. It has plenty of indoor and outdoor seatings. The coffee here is always good but the hot chocolate is average. In general the staffs here are nice and friendly enough. I also quite like the bright and airy décor and I think it is a nice place for business meetings. Although there are lots of parking spaces in front of the main building, it is always full and customers may be forced to use nearby street parking.

ABSOLUTELY SHOCKING.

No hate to the wait staff because they were friendly but we've been twice on Grabone vouchers and both times have been shocking.

Because i have so much to say about our experience I'll sum them up
1st time: went with partner, neither waitresses knew how to scan grabone voucher, got coffee order wrong, forgot to give me eggs with my hash breakfast so was just mashed kumara and bacon.

Second time: JUST AS BAD. The chef apparently went on break so we had to wait 10-15 minutes before he started on our breakfast. Mine and my partners eggs were severely undercooked, obviously in a rush to get food out to us and then he/she got the order so wrong. My salmon Benedict came as a BACON Benedict with salmon on the side and my partners bacon Benedict came with mushrooms on the side, which is meant to be the vegetarian option and he can't stand mushrooms. Clearly a mistake. I've read countless reviews on Zomato and there have been so many similar mishaps and other below-par quality of food reviews. Stick to coffee.

This place needs a manager ASAP. This is my first ever bad review but it had to be done.

I’m sorry but No no :( Very disappointing. Came here with a voucher so prepared myself that It may just be average. The cafe was really quiet on Sunday but we waited about 20mins for our food and coffee. Funny enough Big breakfast was small and tasted like frozen food. The bigger let down is my pasta, full of oil and the cream got totally separated. The chicken on the pasta was so dry it tasted like bacon. Where I came from, we can’t waste food and I was really hungry so tried to eat and felt really sick that night. I feel really bad writing a bad review but I’m sorry guys it didn’t even worth buying the voucher

My wife and I purchased a GrabOne deal on offer for this cafe. The staff were friendly, welcoming and engaging. The food presentation was nice and we had an enjoyable breakfast experience. My wife enjoyed her Eggs Benedict, and I inhaled the Chicken Burger and salad option. Everything was well cooked and delicious and I'd eat there again. We often choose a different cafe in our area for breakfast on the weekends and this did not disappoint.

Went with Grabone. Thank god i didn’t pay full price because that was disappointing. Poached eggs were over cooked and bacon was cardboard. Every part of the big breakfast tasted storebought. Worst of all the food took forever to come out.
Edit: Stomach discomfort after meal. Steer clear of this place.

Went here for a breakfast on a Sunday morning. Lovely car set up with good parking. Was very busy and there was only 1 staff member working and 1 chef. Took a long time for food to come out. And when it finally did come my partners big breakfast was missing the sausages, and my poached egg wasn’t cooked.

Heading to Cafe Monet only to find it has closed so ..went into Cafe Brioche. First sign things weren't good was the additional .30 cent charge for my coffee in a takeaway cup even though we were ordering two cooked brunches. Secondly, don't charge me $6.50 for a side of bacon that has been killed in deep fryer. Eggs ok but the pancakes tasted like fish?? Sorry but won't be going back.

The food menu isn't huge at all (only about 10 items for breakfast and 8 for lunch). All items are under $20 , which is cheaper than some other cafés. Price wise, this is good news.

Service was great too. The male server was attentive, helpful, and friendly.

HOWEVER, food was a bit disappointment. With the Grab one voucher, we ordered Big Breakfast and chicken pasta. The biggest disappointment is the big breakfast. It wasn't big at all. It was served lake warm (not hot at all). It looks like it wasn't made when ordered (it looks like the component of the dish has been sitting in the kitchen for ages). Can taste the oil in the mushroom. The poached egg was overcooked.

Although the food price is cheaper than some other cafés, I personally won't come back with this kind of food quality.

Coffee has always been fine here, which basically earned all of the 2 rating from me. Otherwise, food is overpriced given the quality of it. Stale rock-hard bread in its front displays. If you want great coffee and great food, you might as well visit the café which is just right in front of Brioche, which is called Monet - they have amazing service as well.

Went here to grab some lunch today, brought some chicken and corn soup which was $10. It said it came with garlic bread. That consisted of one single slice of toast bread. My disappointment came when I asked for an extra slice of toast and had to pay for it. What goes through these people's heads that they think they are going to make money doing this. All they do is annoy the hell out of the customer off and lose future business.

I went there to grab a quick brunch and I ordered a hash mash. I have honestly never had such a bad meal. The menu says 'crispy pan-fried hash brown'. Well, it was hardly 'crispy' and it tasted nothing like a hash brown. The menu also mentions bacon, but there was no bacon on the plate. Oh don't even get me started about the poached egg. The egg was basically a boiled egg, and the inside did not run at all. The service was beyond terrible. We waited over an hour before our food was served, and it wasn't like there were a lot of people and I could see a lot of the staff standing around with nothing to do. I asked about my meal about three times, and every single time they would reply saying that it was coming soon. Well, their definition of 'soon' was truly very interesting. The only reason that I gave them a 1.5 and not a 1 was because I loved their furniture and the design of the whole cafe. But apart from that, the cafe was horrible, service and food, and I will most definitely not be going back ever.

Went here on a grab one voucher. We the only customers on busy Sunday morning, primetime for brunch in Newmarket. I had the big breakfast.it was greasy, poorly cooked and not very well presented. The coffee tasted strange. The service was acceptable but very lack lustre. These people do not have the skills to run a cafe. I would not recommend eating here.

We came here a while ago to use a spontaneous grab one voucher we had purchased one morning.

I had the big breakfast meal. I liked the potion size as it was not too small and not too big. Here they use chicken bacon and chicken sausages which is a nice change from beef and bacon. Coffee here is also good.
FISR IMPRESSIONS: sat next to the foyer of a corporate building, Cafe Brioche is beautifully presented with designer chairs and outdoor seating.

DRINKS: given it was a hot humid Auckland day I had the feijoa smoothie. It had a smooth taste despite on the sweet side.

SERVICE: unimpressed with the service. I was in a meeting and 20 mins in realised I still hadn't received my drink! The waitress gave the impression they forgot (even though cafe was quiet). She then appeared to scold her co-worker about it. Her response could have been a lot better rather than make me feel as though I was an imposition.

The service here needs major improvements to match the great aesthetics of the cafe.

It definitely is not a Sunday brunch type of place. The location is excellent with lots of free parking and that's probably the nicest thing I have to say about this place. When I placed my order (calamari rings) I was informed they had run out of fries, which was disappointing but they let me substitute with potato salad. My partner ordered the Big Breakfast. The meals and coffees came out in reasonably good time but the calamari was the single saddest dish of calamari I had ever seen. It was a big bowl of potatoes and 5 pieces of thin, stringy and cold bits. The big breakfast was ok, nothing spectacular. Will definitely not be returning for meals any time soon. The service was ok, cordial but not particularly friendly.

Set back from the road with plenty of free parking out front (which is great for Newmarket).

We went on a weekend and it was very quiet. When we went to order we were advised they had run out of chips... Not a great start.

The meals came out fairly slowly. The scone took forever and we had to prompt to get it. Our mains were below average - the chicken salad no more than a bowl of lettuce leaves with smoked chicken from a packet on top.

Coffee was ok. Service was ok but not friendly.

We won't be returning.
Whiskyncigars
Coffee was ok. Could be better. Caramel coconut slice was quite good but they need to bake smaller batches so they are fresher! Stuffed kumara was not bad but nothing spectacular.

Chill vibe, service was average .30min wait time for food. Place was a bit of a sty for a Saturday . Steak sandwich was average allround average experience . Hence the average rating .

Great t-sips tea top quality presentation and food yum, staff fantastic - loved it. Light breezy and cool chairs. Something a bit different.

We arrived to one of the waitresses rudely saying that the kitchen was closed .it was 12:30 ! Followed up by another member of staff shouting across the room saying that it was not in fact closed .we placed our order and sat down at might I add a dirty table.anyway we waited for at least half an hour for our food .i had ordered the chicken pesto pasta which was disgusting it was watery and the pasta was so overlooked it had almost turn to mush. The other meals were average when we complained about the pasta the staff was rude but the did give a refund of the pasta when the member of staff gave us the money as she walked off she said under her breath "thanks for the insult". I will never eat here again . One positive of the negative experience was the banana smoothie which was amazing other then that HORRIBLE.

Great food and very tidy place. Staff were friendly except for the barrista who probably looked stressed but it was understanble. Awesome place.

I use this Cafe everyday. Great food, wonderful friendly staff. Relaxed and clean. Couscous and Orzo salads are devine as are the rest of the meals, scones muffins etc.Always recommend this cafe.

Friend told me about the grabone deal they had on so i took my mother and grandmother in on a saturday afternoon. Greeted by very friendly wait staff as we came in and the location was spacious and my grandmother loved that it was away from the road and noisy traffic. The chicken avocado burger was delicious! And my mother said she enjoyed her thai chicken salad from the cabinet. Coffee was great and for value an overall good experience :) The only thing i could say was that the food took a little longer than expected to come out but we were in no rush.

This cafe is average. The food is bad, especially the slices and pastas. Been here a couple of times because of free parking and WiFi but definitely wouldn't recommend as it just gets worse every time I visit.

My partner and I came here at 12.30pm on a Saturday. One word to describe our experience: Trainwreck! The location is spacious, airy, well decorated and far away enough from the main road - all in all, a great location. We were tossing up whether to stay or go somewhere else but there were only 3 tables with patrons and everyone had already been served so we thought it would be a quick in-and-out lunch. We ordered a Hash Mash and the Nachos with drinks and sat down. We waited, and waited...and waited. After 2 groups that came after us got their food, I asked how far away our food was. The waitress informs me that she misplaced our docket, meaning the kitchen never got our order, and that our food would come shortly. She apologised, it was an honest mistake, no worries. We keep waiting. After more patrons are served before us, we finally get our food after waiting 1 hour in total. Nachos looked good, the waitress informed me they ran out of sour cream so I got avocado and plain yoghurt as a replacement - all fine. The hash cakes were burnt and the portion size was small but we were hungry so we tucked in. Less than a minute into our meal, my partner finds a hair in his food :/ okay... At the same time I notice another Hash Mash meal being carried out with bacon on top. My partner's one wasn't served with bacon. The menu simply says "chicken bacon" with no commas in between so we were confused. We inform the waitress that we weren't served bacon, she tells us that they had a choice between chicken and bacon and which one did we want. We ask for bacon but are confused as to why we weren't asked this when ordering. She tells the chef, he comes out and is arguing with her that the dish doesn't come with bacon, she points it out on the menu and tells him it does and that other people were served it correctly, he glares at us and we eventually get our bacon served on a side plate. When we ask why our dish doesn't have tomatoes either, the waitress tells us they ran out. At this point, neither my partner nor I are even hungry anymore. He asks for a refund which she gives us and offers us a coffee on the house, we decline because we just want to leave! Both the waitress and I were stressed and upset at this point. The nachos were unseasoned and the mince was watery but we just forced them down and left. Overall it was an AWFUL experience and it felt like we were being treated like the "difficult annoying" ones despite waiting an hour for food only for it to come out and being served without menu items, with hair in it, and items having run out. Having struggled so much on a quiet Saturday, I have no idea what happens here on a busy weekday, I expected more from somewhere in such a prime location. I understand one or two mistakes but our whole meal was a disaster from start to finish.

We been to cafe brioche with my family on Sunday One of the best cafe I ever been and the service was excellent. Food fresh and taste was Divine , highly recommended

Ah the folly's of grabone deals. Sometimes they turn up unexpected triumphs, other times mediocrity - and on this occasion disaster.

This place is either part of a chain or a franchise and is in the new building towards the end of remuera road, where bp has its offices, and the lotto.

Anyway, we shouldn't have expected much for 18 dollar breakfast for 2 voucher. But we got even less.

First off, when we arrived we stood dutifully at the counter, for about 5 mins. It wasn't that there was no-one there, but the staff didn't even make eye contact, let alone acknowledge us.

After placing our order we sat down. Waiting for water to be delivered dutifully. Nothing. So off the good lady trots to find some - there was only one clean glass available and no offer of actually fetching another from somewhere! We shared a glass.

All around was chaos it seemed, one of the waitresses did say it was her first day. But there were at least another 4 members of staff, is a glass too much to ask for???

Coffees arrived, they were not too bad. Nothing to go out of the way for.

Our food passed by. Well we thought it was ours but weren't sure as it didn't arrive at our table but went back to the kitchen. Then came by a second time, after 5 mins and was delivered.

Sat and looked at a sorry looking plate of food while waiting for cutlery and the tomato sauce I requested. Should have asked for salt and pepper but honestly, I think that would have prompted a confused look.

As so often happens at cafes like this, I plumped for the big breakfast option as nothing else really tempts. But this was only big because there were 3 huge slices of bread. Unbuttered. And no butter on the side.

2 Fried eggs were the one saving grace of a dish that looked so sorry that I couldn't even bring myself to photograph it. I've never seen baked beans in such an insipid shade of light orange EVER. They were clearly on ration too. As were the mushrooms, I think I got maybe 6 half button mushrooms - tiny ones. A small rasher of chicken bacon (why oh why) and a half tomato completes the picture. Oh apart from the tasteless inch length of chorizo, worthy of mention only as a post script.

Jo's breakfast fared no better, with solid poached eggs and a deep fried! hash. And without the promised half tomato - she got mine.

Seriously, we could have forgiven the lack lustre/half hearted service if the food had been good - or even palatable, but hearing complaints from at least 2 other people about portion sizes and length of waiting etc it was clear that these people are not naturals in the hospitality industry. Ambience = nill.
