The place has undergone some remodelling and it looks much fresher and fancier.
We went there for the sole purpose of drinking the monster shakes. A blackboard menu is on the wall to your left as you enter. You have a variety of different desserts other than ice cream as well as the monster shake flavours. The shakes are delicious and oh so monstrous, especially after a meal.
We were quite lucky that it was empty when we showed up since we had 8 people, so we were able to take up half the area on the inside.
Best place to stop by for a sugar rush.

Not sure why a company would bother having a Facebook page when they are so inept at updating it? Never mind took the disappointed children somewhere that did update their page!!!

A lovely little ice cream joint in mt eden village. Ordered chocolate and salted caramel sundae, they both taste so yum! it’s creamy and not too sweet, goes really well together. will come back and try other flavour!

Presentation was satisfactory, inducing amazement and wonder. Cute little shop located in Mt Eden. My fave is the ferrero rocher gelato really delicious and worth a try. Because it's not ice cream don't expect it to be too creamy .

Not as good as some of the other freak shake places. The next closest one is Cereal Killer on Dominion Road.<br/><br/>At $8.50 and $13.50 I would recommend getting the Freakshakes/Monster shakes from Cereal Killer instead. <br/><br/>The shakes here aren't as impressive and they don't have as much toppings. It was literally milkshake with whipped cream on top, some wafers and then some syrup and crushed biscuits/chocolate stuck to the side of the mason jar.<br/><br/>The tables were very crumbly as well. They weren't wiped down and there were lots of cookie crumbs and other bits of stuff on the table tops. The tables felt sticky and dirty.

Really bad brownie. I love brownie, it's hard for me to find one bad. But this was super average! Really dry and stale. Microwave didn't even make it better! The gelato was ok, but nothing great. Wouldn't go back

A couple of friends and I went here for the famous freak shakes I've seen going around on Facebook.. Little bit dissapointed.. Presentation is awesome but the overall flavour is just very average.. The shakes were very milky and just lacked in flavour. We went at a quiet time and waited a while.. I couldn't imagine what it would be like at a busier time. Not much seating option either.. Will probably be back to try the gelato on its own.

Decided to come here for a dessert after dinner one night. Quite busy so thought the place would be good. I decided on the waffle with gelato. The waffle was dry and not enough gelato/cream to go with the waffle. The staff that served us was very new and keep forgetting what we ordered and asked us twice once we sat down what our order was. <br/>Will be back for the gelato by itself.

Ordered 5 mostrohakes which took over an hour to come. Cafe wasn't even that busy when ordered and the people behind us were served before us who ordered the same type of drink. This was due to only having one lady working. For $13.50 per drink this was really unexpectable and we won't be returning.

The drink was pretty amazing, Nutella's the way to go. Service great. Gelato Waffle was horrible, only ate a quarter. Sauce was too sweet and waffle fell apart.

Was really looking forward to trying out their milkshakes from the photos they posted. But unfortunately it didn't meet my expectations. After waiting for a table for a wee while we finally got our shakes. I got the salted caramel milkshake and my friends got the chocolate and banoffe one. Did they look like the pictures? Yes and no. They looked like the pictures except they're a lot smaller than I thought they were. And for $13.50 each I expected a huge glass.<br/><br/>The toppings were also a let down as they were basically just whipped cream and some biscuits here and there. The milkshake itself tastes good thought but it was a bit too runny for my liking. If it was thicker it would be so much better. <br/>All in all, it was an okay place. I've tasted better. They definitely looked better than they tasted.

Love this place! Never been here before so was really impressed. Yeah it's expensive at $13.50 for a milkshake but there's a lot of effort that goes into it and it's Mt Eden, what do you expect, really. But the flavours were awesome! A little bit thin but still great and the toppings are super creative too. Thanks!

The owner is so lovely, the service is great. Love the creative flavours. My favourite is Yogi Polar which is kind of like a fruity yoghurt flavour. Definitely want to try the monster shakes which they're now selling.

Had dessert here with my partner. Was delicious i wanted more fruits with my gelato but they only had banana. My shake was yum only down would be how you try to eat your shake. Nice & quite atmosphere

We come here for dessert after our Indian or Japanese local meals, as we prefer this to finish off as a dessert, than perhaps the limited dessert choices from the above cuisines. You can eat here, but generally we take away. A good selection of authentic gelato/ice cream, and its nice to stop off here on a hot day too.

Nice flavours BUT appalling portion sizes! I think our server must've scooped with a teaspoon! So for that price I felt completely ripped off!Whats most annoying is that you get a full portion if you go to the Ponsonby one! Mt Eden you're letting the name down! Stop being so tight and give the posh folk of Mt Eden some bang for their buck!!!!!

Casa del gelato is always a treat. My favorite flavour is Snickers. But always like to try out different flavours. <br/><br/>Try their mango flavour if you like a fruity flavour. Staff at any of these gelato shops are very friendly. Servings is bit too much for me.<br/>

I had seriously awful experience after ordering a passionfruit gelato. I thought it looked so creamy and delicious but that was the gelato in the front of the box. I was given a cone filled with the old scrapings from the last box of gelato that were on top of the fresh stuff. It was full of bits of ice and crunchy. I should have taken it back and now really wish I had. $4.50 seemed a lot for a little scoop, especially when it was so bad. Don't treat your customers like this again. It's dishonest and not worth it.

Awesome range of gelato and waffles are hot and fluffy. We had the banana waffles with banoffee gelato and cream and caramel drizzle. Faultless combination. Service a lot better in this store compared to the others. ??

I loved that they were open at 9.30 pm on a Saturday and they've got little tables to sit at. I had a scoop of tiramisu flavoured gelato and a scoop of salted caramel and both were disappointingly bland. The tiramisu needed much more coffee in it. The salted caramel was just sweet with no discernable caramel taste and could have handled more salt. There was one point while I was eating where I really had to remind myself what flavours I got! The sample of banoffee I tried was the same - just sweet with no obvious flavour.<br/><br/>However, my friend said her chocolate gelato was the most flavoursome she'd ever tasted. <br/>

After hearing some pretty sketchy reviews of the mt eden branch, finally decided to go one day after dinner last week. I was pleasantly suprised by the place. They had a small but delicious selection of gelatos. I ordered a cup with 3 flavours: ferrero, mango and aero. All were delicious but the mango took the top. definitely the best i've had. There are definitely better gelato places in my opinion but a good one for a local :)

This is our local ice cream place and we love it. While I wish it was open a little later in the evenings, it's a good place to get an ice cream cone and stroll through the village. <br/>I think they're well priced for what you get and the ice cream is always tasty. <br/>There are the standard flavours like tiramisu and snickers but there are also interesting flavours that pop up every now and then like watermelon and wild strawberry for the summer. <br/>The staff are always super friendly and you can also order coffees and sundaes and cookie sandwiches. They also have vegan chocolate cookies for sale for $2.50 so there's something for everyone. I definitely recommend a trip to Casa Del Gelato if you're in the area.

The lady was more than accommodating.<br/><br/>We had ordered Black Forest dessert which was delicious.<br/><br/>Nice small place, friendly customer service. The serving of ice cream was pathetic and small even though I ordered a double scoop cone. The flavour was acceptable but the service was not good. Would not visit again as the lady who served the ice cream was rude and impatient.

Went here after my birthday dinner for a nice dessert. It was magic. I have eaten much gelato and this is very well presented, delicious and the service was very good. They do not have a very wide selection compared to many other places, but with that decadence, who needs to go overboard? <br/><br/>I hope to be heading back more often, considering its just down the road from us.

They only open for afternoons, but this is a great place to treat yourself in the heart of the Mt Eden Village. You can have it in a cone or cup, same price, which I super appreciate since everyone usually charges more for the cone. I'm a fan of cones. The waffle cone here was delicious, not chewy or weird like it had been sitting out for ages and had a nice gentle flavour. I find a lot of cones nowadays are getting rather bland, like eating paper or something. They have all sorts of flavours from the classics like chocolate and mango sorbet to interesting chocolate-bar-themed flavours like Aero (mint with chocolate chips, which is pictured here and was absolutely delicious on a blisteringly hot summer day), Crunchie and Ferrero Rocher. They serve generous scoops to you and there's some nice table and chairs near the window where you can enjoy while people watching. You definitely have to visit here and try some on a hot day!
