Review Kuzhikkadan's Kitchen - Auckland Central

Deeksha Nanaiah
Humble place with authentic Kerala good. I love Malabar cuisine and to find this gem of a place in Auckland makes me so happy and miss home less. Tasty food for cheap. Great value for money. Since they do a lot of take away, you might have to wait for 20 minutes or so for your order as they do it fresh. Worth the wait and will be a regular here.

Stunningly delightful and delicious food makes this restaurant truly outstanding.White ,fluffy and fresh appams which melt in your mouth are the best in town. The main course is fabulous. My trips to this restaurant during lunch hours to explore the traditional Kerala menu were exciting. I am a big fan of Kuzhikkadan's Beef biryani which blends in the exotic flavours of Indian spices with beef and rice.Prawn biryani is another favourite whenever I feel like trying sea food. The crowd pleaser from the menu is the duck roast which I would recommend having with appam or vegetable pulao. A great South Indian restaurant with affordable prices!!

The best authentic South Indian food place in Auckland! I got tears of joy tasting the wonderfully aromatic Kerala beef curry that took me straight back home to India! Hendon ave's best kept secret! :))

Authentic South Indian non vegetarian food. Delicious curries, appams, mouth watering beef that looks burnt, Parotta bread and so many other recipes that you can pick and ask them to cook. Absolutely unique one of a kind spicy food that makes your mouth tingle and relish....not for the faint hearted!!

Ive been going here at least once a week for the last month and getting something for myself and my dad. Every meal weve had has been extremely tasty. I will continue to come here. We've tried more that half the menu and every one has been great. The prawn masala, the roast duck and the fish curry are the highlights.Gobi manchuria is a good option for vegetarians

Kuzhikkadan's kitchen is one of the few places in Auckland that does authentic Kerala cuisine. Their Parattas (flaky flat bread) are the best I've had in Auckland. Their dishes are quite tasty, there is still room for improvement. It is always better to order by phone unless you are prepared to wait over half an hour for you order to be ready.

Thankyou for your wonderful beef fry curry. It was superb. The paratha was beautiful. The butter chicken was delicious. The customer service was excellent and friendly. I will always be coming back. I highly recommend this place. I dont mind waiting for my food as preparation in excellence takes time. 10 out of 10 from me.

Though born and bought up in hyderabad I have strong ties to my hometown kerala especially with the cuisine that has perfect blend on spices and loaded with rich coconut milk. Kuzhikkadans kitchens Malabar fish curry with tapioca and paratha with beef fry are the best ideal examples for my all time favourite kerala cuisine.

Great little takeaway that specializes in Kerala cuisine (South Indian)...interiors are sparse with just 2-3 tables, go here for the authentic food, not to hang out.

This is an excellent South Indian kerala restaurant. Nice place to have good authentic Kerala dishes. The rates are reasonable too.
jeet kiran
The real taste of South Indian dishes. More dedicated to Kerala style food. Recommended for takeaway.

If you like South Indian (Kerala) food, then this is the restaurant for you. Mainly it's takeaway but up to 10 people can sit there.

If you are craving for Indian food then this is the place. One thing however, you cannot dine in there as they only do takeaway service

A very nice South Indian style takeaway place. Inexpensive. Friendly people. Yummy food 😋

Authentic taste of South India! Appam, Beef roast and parata are a must try!! Just one negative thing spotted- frozen meat! But people in hunt for a taste of Kerala must visit this spot. The quantity is good and the price is reasonable aswell. I would definitely recommend everyone to give it a try

Food is good but they have very long wait times which needs to be worked on. Will definitely go back if this can be fixed up..50 minutes is not an ideal wait time

Best porotta in NZ. Beef fry reminds the authentic flavour of Kerala. Duck roast and chicken biriyani are worth. South Indian cuisine at its best.

I ordered 2 beef roast. I only got 10pcs of beef and rest was masala, that was too sweet because of onions. When I gave a call to them, the staff compared the price and we quantity with Kairali restaurant.

Never ever compare your business to others when you get customer compliant. Take the constructive cristicism postively and try to improve.

Highly disappointed again and again with quality of meat (frozen) and tasteless. Meat not cooked properly at all. It’s very hard to bite and digest ending us with bad funny tummy including a pregnant lady. Highly dis satisfied and this is the third time. No more food from here. Complained and they put non logical excuse to cover. Called 4 times to complaint.

Auckland’s best porrotta, but make sure it is fresh, Duck curry is good. Beef fry is good. But most of the dishes are a bit oily. Price is high compared to other takeaways
Feel Food
Only good for takeaways n average food. Lacked keralite flavor n taste from a distance. Was looking for something new on a Friday night and it appeared at a short distance from our place. We ordered Appam, paratha, roasted chicken, chicken curry Kerala style n gobhi Manchurian. Appam n parathas were nice. All other items had onion in excess n very mild taste. Machurian had strong taste of sweet chilly sauce. May try in future just to give them a second chance as there are some reviews vouching for goodness. However till then its just average.

Not even worth a star. But i had to write a review. Poorest Food. I strongly recommend not to eat there. Worst customer service. Shit food. Below reviews are completely fake. I hate zomato for publishing false and fake reviews. Please dont cheat people.

Finally got the chance to taste the authentic flavour of kerela with my sweety pie wife...Unlike other restaurants, they did justice to the southern land of India i.e. 'kerela'...We tried hyderabad chicken biriyani, kerela chicken curry and porotta. All the items were treat to our taste buds...Really eager to try other items on menu....thanks Kuzhikkadan's Kitchen ,😊😊

It had been 2.5 months I missed all the home food. This place is just amazing. The food felt heavenly and worth all the money. Best for the malabar food lovers.

I was thrilled when my friends told me about this place. Kerala beef fry is one of my favorite dishes, and I usually have to travel quite far from home to get it. Those days are over.

I went here on a Saturday afternoon with my fiance. We ordered beef fry, Kerala chicken curry, and 4x paratha. $30 all up, well priced.

We had to wait about 25-30 minutes which wasn't ideal. That being said, a family of 8 people ordered just before us so I'll cut some slack because of that.

The beef fry was delicious, all the herbs and spices (curry leaves, cloves, etc) were well portioned.
The curry in the kerala chicken curry was nice and flavorsome, but the chicken pieces were disappointing as they mainly consisted of bone instead of meat.

I love south indian food so I'll be back again to try more of the menu.

Probably one of the best in Auckland for Malabar food (the south western coastal food of India). Lovely made to order hand made Parathas (probably you won't even get from many Malaysian Indian joints) and delicious Kerala curry dishes. We have tried both their chicken and fish curry and we like them both. I probably would recommend the curry for those who can handle hot and spicy coconut milk based curries. It is based at one of the most unassuming avenues that would easily miss or mistake for being a quite shop next to a Laundromat. Give it a try and have a chat with Biju. I hope you will like it.

Doesn't look like much from the outside, or the inside for that matter, but their food is tasty and excellent value. I tried their chicken roast and gobi manchurian. The chicken was one of the best curries I've had in a while, it tasted like it was freshly made (which it was...) with a distinctive south Indian flavor. Much better than a lot of the generic flavors you get at many Indian takeways. The gobi was good, not great. But I'm giving this place a 4.5 for that chicken curry alone.

Went along with my own Kerala expert Tomy as we were on the hunt for a quick late lunch.

Immediately greeted by staff, we ordered duck roast, chicken 65 (my personal favourite dish) and 4 x paratha. $30 all up.

Felt like when we took it home to eat, someone in their own home kitchen had just prepared this for us. Homely food at its best!

30 days before I head on my first trip to Kerala - this was a treat! The wheat paratha was beautifully fluffy and stretchy. Duck roast, whilst on the oily side and needing more heat spice wise, was a wonderful almost creamy gravy. The duck was not dry/overcooked and chopped into bite size pieces. Chicken 65 was crispy and delicious.

Malayali Auckland folk I am sure would be pleased but for everyone else that hasn't tried 'God's Own Country's' food of Kerala, make a trip soon!

Great tiny take away/sit in restaurant.bought duck roast,chicken65 n parotha..just loved it..almost mallu tasting..with duck roast having a very great gravy to go with it but wish it was a little bit more spicier.Price range is between $6 to $12.

Rating
Value for money - 4.5/5
Mallu taste - 4/5
Time to serve - 10-15 minutes
Parking - Tons of it
Ambience - 2/5 (not a place for a candlelight dinner)
Staff - 4.5/5 -- Very polite

Will definitely be making more visits.
