Review Euro Deli - Auckland Central

I'd driven past this place loads of times without even realizing it was there. A surprisingly pleasant, unassuming place. Good coffee. A good selection of quality snacks in the cabinet too, although I went with The Dirty Bird Benedict (?) which was far more delicious than the name would lead you to believe! Relaxing vibe, decent seating layout.

Good coffee. We have the apple blue berry crumble, it's nice. The atmosphere of the Cafe is nice and warm. Next time will try the cabinet food .

The BLT was well stocked with some very nicely cooked bacon, good fresh ingredients as well, and properly toasted bun and good coffee. Table could have used a wipe and napkins stocked. Fries had a slightly used oil taste, but still edible and had aioli & tomato sauce to dip.

Good all-rounder. Loads of sandwiches, hot pastries, cakes and other menu items. Decent coffee and friendly service.

Just had coffee & a scone, nice. Got there just before 12pm but once the lunch time crowd turned up it was packed. I found it a little expensive to other that l have been in, but popular.

Good staff with helpful service! Food was very nice and the portions are appropriate. The smoked salmon was the highlight. Incredible flavours. Definitely would recommend!

Very friendly and helpful staff. Offered to make soup for me although it was originally not available. I opted for an alternative dish - smashed avo- which was very good. Good coffee. Comfortable surroundings.

Pretty good coffee. Mel was great and the little one loved her fluffy.

The most satisfying French toast I've ever had! And I love their coffee and the vibe too!

Great spot for coffee and light food. Always clean, neat and tidy with very friendly staff. Moderately priced with a wide range of edibles of good quality.

Can't comment on the food because I only ordered a triple shot medium flat white with a shot of hazelnut syrup and 2 sugars, so you know just a regular coffee. The order came out quickly and I would consider it satisfactory. A solid 7 out of 10.

Pros: Coffee is superb. My only go to coffee shop from now on. Cons: They should put their brand name in the cup. Will syrely come back to have a dine 1 day to see how the food are.

Good selection of menu and cabinet food. Nice presentation. Some food items aren't what you would expect, which isn't a bad thing. E.g. is the fried chicken eggs bene. You'd expect a thigh or breast filled, but it's more like popcorn chicken. Again, chicken is chicken, but just be prepared for a bit of left field.

Good coffee, wide selection of cabinet food and hot foods made to order. Lots of free parking outside which is great. Great location

The best cheese scone I have ever had. Crispy outside and sort inside. The staff was really friendly and with nice smile, very nice service. Will definitely come back again : )

It's a great place to bring friends. Had the breakfast grill so big and tasty. Nice friendly staff and great coffee, will definitely be back

The service was very quick and the staff were very friendly. Always busy and good atmosphere. Feels very cosy. Loved the creamy mushrooms and cheese scone.

Used to be a fantastic, thriving cafe although has been a while since I’ve been here. Might be under new ownership as the whole vibe was off and it was empty and had lost all personality. The staff didn’t seem at all invested in their customers - no offer of menus or greeting, or any kind of basic customer service.

It was the food that was most problematic though. The “brioche” French toast was awful - the brioche was thin, stodgy and tasteless, and the egg couldn’t penetrate so it just had a weird egg coating on top instead. It was piled with slices of cold fruit which made everything cold. The bacon was overcooked and like cardboard.

Others at our table ordered just before us and yet it took 15-20mins for our food to come after theirs. Others had the avocado dish which definitely didn’t have “fresh” avocado (looked like a jar of puree) and the halloumi and poached egg were overcooked.

Disappointing and I would not go back.

The place changed hands two months ago . New owners have made portion sizes tiny and kept the same prices . It’s now a sad shadow of what it was and now all food looks bought in rather than made on site . Staff suffer from a poor command of English making ordering or complaining very difficult .
A sad end to what was once a great place .
Save your money for elsewhere!

Beautiful coffee shop! Really great environment, and good coffee options. Although I did not have them, the pastries looked really beautiful.

Coffee was ok but the cheese scone was divine!!! Well done to the chef that made these- can I please have the secret recipe haha. Nice spot to sit for a while cosy. Most of the food looked like normal cafe options. Would like a few more baked goods to choose from ideally.
OMG! I was there yesterday and even though I never place reviews on cafes. This cafe was outstanding. The service as well as the food was amazing.I was blown away. I would highly recommend this as a place to visit

Have been coming here for years and this place has definitely changed. Staff not friendly, food quality dropped significantly and value for money not so good.
Mmmfood
I went here for a morning snack the other day. The coffee and cabinet food are decent but nothing to get overly excited about. The same could be said about the decor of the cafe. The dishes on the menu are a bit steeply priced, which is unfortunate for a cafe.

Lots of parking and a few other shops around to have a look at.
That’s generally how we end up here, we are either at the Baby on the Move, or the Post Shop and decide we will get coffee.
The menu is pretty boring tbh, just the standard breakfast suspects and some basic lunch stuff too. The cabinet looks nice though.
Coffee is fine, and we will no doubt get more coffee from there next time we are in the neighbourhood.
We have been to the Euro Deli many times over the years but had not visited for some time, so we decided to try it again today to see if the standard is still good. It is spacious and offers a range of indoor and outside seating. The menu is fairly standard (but a lot of cabinet options are generally available) and we went for the Periperi Chicken open sandwich, and the Potato cake with mushroom. The service was very professional and efficient, and the meals were delivered quickly. The open SW was served on Turkish bread with caramelised onions and avocado. The potato cake was served with caramelised leeks, portobello mushroom and two perfectly poached eggs. Both the meal were very tasty, generously sized and good value for money. The high quality thankfully has remained. The cabinet food was limited on a Sunday but we know from previous experience it usually has a wide selection of quality choices.

Went here for breakfast today. It was very expensive for the board meals. An average of $18 for everything including blats and omelet test. We got bacon and eggs. Bacon was great. Tasty, well cooked, good quality, and streaky. Yum. The fried eggs ere good. The scrambled eggs. were rubbish. They were an oily solid lump on the plate. The toast was cold and we're were not given a white or brown option. We were just given brown. Coffee was good but it could have been hotter.

Amazing Soy Mocha and chicken panini today. The staff were welcoming and friendly. Very hard to find anywhere that does great coffee and soy at that but you guys nailed it. Just feel the place itself eg toilets needed a bit of a clean up. Look forward to coming again for a great coffee.

This cafe is probably a local to many, for me it's one that's out of the way if you live on the opposite side of the bridge. My partner had an appointment nearby and this cafe was recommended by the staff there so I decided to check it out. The cafe was busy during the lunch rush with workers nearby and locals dinning in. The service was normal - nothing outstanding but it was what you’d expect for a busy cafe.

I ordered the Euro breakfast grill but as a vegetarian option. The food was tasty and well cooked. The eggs were poached nicely and the dish was presented well. I also ordered a coffee which was really good, I even ordered another one on the way out. This cafe seems to be buzzing and has loads of room for small groups. If you're hungry and want value for money this place if worth checking out if you’re in the area.

Have been frequenting here for quite a few years now and bar a few tiny little what one could call " attitude " problem from some staff ( who all seem to be gone now) it always rates highly as far as I am concerned. It's just your normal cafe but friendliness , service , quality of food, the coffees and the price are all good or better. I have tried a selection of their food over time, muffins, cibbiata and cooked which are all very nice but I am partial to poached eggs and bacon on toast .The poached eggs are done to perfection.....a nice runny yolk just how I like it. The coffees of which I usually have a mug size cappuccino are great. Like I said before the service is great, and orders come out quick as. All in all if you are in Albany you won't go wrong dropping in here for a coffee or more. Enjoy!!!

Stopped here for a take away coffee last week and ended up putting it in the bin. I know coffee pretty well and there was nothing wrong with the beans but the milk was absolutely sour. Not sure if it was off or someone wasn't washing milk jugs between coffees but it was absolutely horrible.

Great cafe! Best muffins and cheese scones I have ever had! I miss them after moving out of Auckland. Recommend it definitely, will come back to visit!

Euro Deli is near my current work place, I would pop in before work every once in a while. Haven't had a bad takeaway coffee or chai latte from here. I've ordered from their cabinet menu... The Thai chicken curry pie was deliciously spicy, and so was their enchilada.

Only bad feedback was when my grandmother and I recently ordered salmon eggs bene. Instead of an English muffin they used a scone, which wasn't great.

Went to the Euro Deli for the first time after been recommended by friends, I ordered the Euro Breakfast Grill. WOW! super generous. The poached eggs, the best I have had for a while. Bacon spot on, not too salty. Everything cooked perfectly. My partner had Halloumi Salad. The holloumi cooked just the way she liked. Salad and dressing totally fresh. Our other friend had home made potato cake, again perfectly cooked poached eggs. Hollandaise sauce super smooth. We will definitely be back to try others things on the menu. Well worth the drive from Orewa. Friendly staff and short wait for meals. Well done guys!

Been here many times for a coffee but today decided to try their breakfast menu. I couldn't find anything shouting out to me from the menu and settled for the poached egg with hollandaise sauce on a bagel with baked beans. What I got was a dish overwhelmed by baked beans and it tasted that way as well, I couldn't taste the egg or the sauce over the sweetness of the beans. The bagel wasn't toasted which was a shame. This dish would suit someone with a huge appetite but that someone wasn't me.

My latte was good and I got to use the free wifi which is a bonus.

Over looking north harbor stadium, Euro Deli has a very relaxing setting for customers to enjoy their coffee and meals. Foods are ok and prices are reasonable.

Lovely friendly staff, got served by a very nice lady with pink hair :). Got greeted as soon as I came in. Best coffee in Auckland. Also best scones.

Quite possibly the BEST cheese scone I've had in a very very long time. Fabulous texture, delicious taste and what I consider to be the perfect size (so many cafe/bakery scones are oversized and unappealing these days). Well done, Euro Deli. I wish I had your recipe!

Brought the family for a midday meal, nice and open enviroment, very unique decorations :)

Food was great, ordered an egg benedict and it came on the most amazing toasted cheese scones, A+ for making a twist on a classic. Also their muffins were perfect for our coffees - Blueberry & Cream-cheese, Apple & Custard :0

We never noticed this cafe before and this is the third time we have been there this year. Love it!!! Their Egg Benedict is so gooood. My boy friend loves their smoothies. They always very busy during lunch time, service is a bit slow than usual but understandable. (Maybe we should avoid this time next time). They have 25% off food and drink after 3pm everyday but kitchen closes before that.

This cafe use to be one of my favourite cafes to return to time and time again. The last few times I have been I've been very disappointed with the service and food. It seems like it has changed hands and is going downhill. Sadly they didn't have any homemade muesli but we got a ham, cheese and tomato croissant which had processed cheese in it, you'd normally except Brie or Camembert. We also ordered a chicken filo pastry which was dry and flavourless and had me regretting ordering it. In the past, the atmosphere has been buzzing and it's always been very busy. The last few times we've returned, there have been less and less people which I assume reflects the drop in quality of food and service. I will not be returning to this cafe anytime soon.

Absolutely delicious!! Very warm and welcoming cafe on the shore. Great selection of cabinet food and dessert. Cheese scone is to die for. We came on a very busy day. Busy but all staffs are happy, smiling and helpful. Food we ordered is fresh, amazing and well worth the money (big portion!!!). Coffee is just perfect, too. We will definitely come back again. Just one thing to keep in mind, lovely staff warn us coz we accidentally parked at the staff parking on the far end ( which is hard to notice).

I have to start by saying the name conjures up images of burly freuleins serving very strong coffee instead im greeted by a mishmash of eclectic collectables on display which i can only imagine started their journey in europe...not sure about the gold waving cat however...
I digress...im here to comment on the service. Waited at the counter and eventually got asked if i was being served. Ordered a coffee to have while seated. Oddly got asked if i wanted it in a takeaway cup..how bizarre...my arms were laden down with newspapers and magazines. I wasnt going anywhere soon..
Coffee arrived. What can i say? Meh...i've had much better. Was weak and luke warm. Waited long enough for it too.
I honestly think i would only come here again if there was nowhere else to grab a coffee..
My wife and I have been coming here a lot over the last several years and I'm surprised at the couple recent negatives. Food has always been good and the coffee also, and I cant remember ever having bad service. It does get quite busy around mealtimes, but its a welcome refuge from the chaos of the mall.

I used to come here a lot but service has declined since. Ordered eggs any style. Bacon was badly burnt. Also ordered eggs Benedict, both eggs are completely cooked and not runny like it should be. Fluffy costs $1.50, but has no marshmallow - kids were disappointed.
Only one thing that was good was kids pancake.
$6 and worth it.
Asgeir Jensson
ordered the chicken and vegetable pie, shame that the pie was mostly mushy pumpkin with around a few crumbs of chicken. Sent that back and replaced it with a bacon, cream cheese and spinach tart with side salad, which I was charged half price for. It looked lovely but before I could start to eat it a green creepy crawly came out from under salad greens. It had a lot of legs, was very much alive with long antennae. That was the end! I returned the whole thing and said no thanks to any more replacements. The iced coffee and lemon tart (for dessert) were OK. (What was that bug????)
Klaus
good food and service. It is a good place to have a coffee when I finish shopping.

I've been here numerous times. Great service and fantastic staff. The food is really good with reasonable prices and a good variation. Only downfall is the coffee is awful.
Robin Twiname
I had a coffee and cheese scone this morning and was overcharged by $4.30 when I queried the price I was given a refund which was a dollar short !how can a coffee and scone be charged at $12.70 ? How can someone on the till not get that that amount is somewhat high? Check your cost before paying !!!

Called in here for a coffee with a friend yesterday, next time I will definitely go elsewhere. It was a latte bowl of terrible luke warm milky something they called coffee. I ordered a trim cappucino!!!

Rainy day.... nice coffee required?
Don't go here then!
We were given the poorest excuse for a coffee ever! Having asked for two Macchiato were were served with ONE AMERICANO. Eventually we got the coffee we ordered - or so you would think. The coffee was in too large a cup, was watered down and was burnt with far too much milk. If they don't know what Macchiato is - take it off the coffee list! I won't be going back and that's a shame as I spend quite a bit of time in this area!

My friends and I visit this cafe often and love it! yes the coffee does admittedly take awhile but the food is great! Especially the bacon risotto and th beef salad. Breakfasts are also really nice. The atmosphere is pleasant, especially when the sun is out. you can also buy really nice syrups and sauces from there. it is also handy to the mall yes not as crazy busy.
