Review The Coffee Club - Auckland Central

Visited yesterday 22nd of March 2023 at 4.30 pm. The food was of good quality and fulfilling. The waitress there was AMAZING, her service was exceptional. I hope management sees this because she deserves recognition for her work (she probably be a P.I. woman, I should've got her name🤦🏽‍♀️). I'll go back again, not only because of the food but because of her service 💯❤️

Brunch date with dad. Staff were really nice despite being very very busy. Food and coffee orders arrived quickly, was hot and tasty. Taking star off for noise. Yes I expect noise and commotion because of popularity and location, no problem there but this was a bit excessive. It wasn’t the chatter or happy customers but it was the clearing of dishes into the white trays…it just seemed like staff were throwing cutlery & dishes into their trays from across the room or were stumbling into them??

Food was delicious and delivered in a timely manner. The waitress was very attentive and made sure unnecessary items were removed from table to give us more room.

I visited this cafe with a friend who uses a walking frame due to disability. One of the waitresses, Lynn, could not have been more helpful, kind and caring towards both my friend and I. We both had hot white chocolate drinks which were so delicious. The blueberry muffin I had was a disappointment however. Will visit again.

Great service and great food and coffee. Need I say more? I am a little skeptical about the coffee clubs because they pump out so much food.. but blown away today... thank you Coffee Club Sylvia park

Many options of coffees and muffins. Good to have coffee here.

Went for breakfast, really nice food and friendly quick service. Green tea was nice not bitter like some other places. My husband loved his breakfast and my omelette was fluffy and delicious 😋

As per usual the food is to die for, the service fantastic and the pricing for dishes reasonable. I've been to a few of these restaurant and have never given a bad rap for any of them. If you see one and you want a coffee or your hungry pop in, you won't be disappointed.

Walk in to the cafe, was friendly greeted by the staff member at the front. I sat down ordered and within a couple of minutes I had my flat white coffee and soon after my omelet. Coffee was superbly made, the omelet delicious. Overall, nice decor, friendly staff, if you want good customer service with a smile and great food and Coffee, come to the Coffee Club Sylvia Park

I was served by the lovely Suila who looked after my guests, and I like family .The coffee was delicious and food was excellent 👌

The head of the waiting team is an absolute superstar who turns what would be an average experience into a great one!
She’s perpetually in motion but always takes tome out to thank the customer for their patronage.
We visit regularly & she is one reason why!
She’s a an example other cafes would do well to replicate🙌🏽

Disappointing experience, expected much more from Coffee Club. Iced frappe tasted like milk and ice instead of banana and caramel. Steak sandwich should've been made with ciabatta bread or something much nicer than your average loaf of bread from the dairy, for that price I expect more. And pancakes need fresh bananas that aren't bruised

Twice I have bought a iced drink from here (coffee + chocolate) and both times have really been disappointing. This has got to be the worst branch I’ve been to. The drink itself is okay but their whipped cream and “ice cream” is disgusting. It’s lumpy which makes the drink tastes like a mouth full of butter. Would not recommend getting drink with whipped cream

This particular Coffee Club has got to be the worst. It doesn’t even deserve any stars to be honest. My question is, how do you fail to make a such a simple summer beverage ? Walked into the cafe feeling hopeful and excited and I get greater on the counter after a good 10 mins, I asked the staff member to make me an Iced Chocolate and requested her to make it extra chocolatey. I took a seat, within 5mins she whips up the drink and brings it to the table. She did a few quick swirls of cream and dusts it with powder I literally move the straw and everything sinks. The glass itself is dripping with milk and cream and it’s sticky and gross.Confused, I ask the staff what is this? And she replies “Iced Chocolate”. I’m still confused looking for the chocolate. I take a sip and it’s disgusting. Imagine drinking diluted cold cream Mixed with vanilla and ice. I take this back to her and ask her to either put more chocolate or make it again because there’s no chocolate in there at all. She laughs and denies everything and tells me that I just need to mix. So I ask for a spoon and some serviettes to clean the mess, I mix and guess what diluted ice cream once again. Very annoyed with the service, feel like she could’ve done a better job, it’s a shame that we have people like this. To go in for something so small but to come out this disappointed is just sad. (Hey, to the lady who served me at Coffee Club Sylvia Park Mall if you ever need reference to what an ICED CHOCOLATE (Extra Chocolatey) beverage looks like refer to my 3rd pic, if you want to learn how to make that? Maybe get lessons from your neighbors at the Coffee Club @ Sylvia’s lifestyle Centre). (Near Spotlight)

Current Zomato rating of 2/5 is totally justified. We waited for a long time for our drinks and then had to follow-up on the meals. Chips looked like they were re-fried, hard and stale. Mains were not that great in taste and presentation looked really dull. They are charging regular cafe prices but the quality is low. Tables are too small to fit 4 people which ended up being a squeeze. Decor doesn't keep up with the rest of the Sylvia Park restaurants. Plenty of better options just seconds away. Avoid this place like Wuhan during the Coronavirus epidemic :-p

First of all, apologies for the photo of eaten food, but I wanted to show how much food we were leaving behind. This place used to be delicious, now it seems their ‘new’ menu is worse than the original. The staff first of all forgot to bring a tart out to our table that we ordered, specifically asking for it to be brought out before our main meal. Obviously this didn’t happen. Our mains arrived and the fried chicken we ordered was nice, but the nachos tasted cheap and the beef on them was very dry. The tropical smoothie wasn’t as nice as the last time we came, and the beer we ordered was cold. I would avoid this place, especially with tastier menus in the area!

Make sure to ask for your receipt. I realized they overcharged me when I saw my online account. I could not dispute it with my bank since I don't have a receipt. Lesson learned.

Apart from the 3 tasty sausages, the big breakfast was way disappointing, bread crusts ! and the bacon rind was left on my bacon rashers....and very poorly presented on a way too small plate....never go there again...

I think the ambiance is nice, but the coffee is not really as good- and the their side chicken is quite disappointing. I was thinking its like popcorn (fried) chicken- but its boiled and it looks so sad and its $6?!!! Anyway, i guess i know better now and would not be ordering it again. I just like the location of this cafe as its in the middle of the mall.

😁 the Manager of this joint is BossLady 👌🏼 she orkestrated customers like a musical, cleaning, greeting and getting orders out at a timely pace 🏅Great work, delicious food, even though the weather is horrible 🌬️🌧️☔😒😁

Definitely underrated. Hubby and I came here for breakfast and got the breakfast burger and 2 large coffees. Firstly, their large sizes coffees are so decent, it’s actually like a large not just a big medium if that makes sense. The breakfast burger with egg has brown salad cheese bacon was deeeeeliiish...everything was piping hot and so fresh. Definitely an underrated place, I never realised how good coffee club was! And the Indian guy serving us was so delightful too - service was top notch!!

This branch has Very friendly staff and quick service . Food quality is really high. Recommended for sure. We got Value for money. Will visit again soon .

The pancakes with banana, popcorn and maple syrup was disgusting. Pancake more like an uncooked cake mix. Asked the staff twice to tell the chef it was unsatisfactory but not even a sorry was forthcoming. Will not eat here again and will not recommend.
I've been here a few times and the last time I went was 28/12/18. The female manager was nice, however the Indian male waiter wasn't very welcoming. We had asked for bottle of water and he told us to get it ourselves. I ordered Mexican Chicken salad without fresh corn, however I asked the waiter to leave corn chips in. My dish came so dry and without the chips. I my self had to return it to the front. There was hardly any sauce on that dish. Unfortunately I wasn't able to take a photo as I wasn't sure of writing a review in the first place, however I hated my time there, hence the review.

I would rather drink actual piss than have their coffee. Also, they have terrible service and are extremely badly managed.. They actually blame you for how badly organised they are. Just don’t go here because you will regret you ever spent a cent here. So trash..

Once you’ve been to one Coffee Club, you know what to expect at their other outlets. The Coffee club at Sylvia Park is better than its Manukau counterpart in that it has better seating, friendlier staff and fewer crowds. I would go here rather than to my local Coffee Club because of those things. The food on other hand is the same everywhere else.

We had to wait 30mins atleast before the staff takes our order and another 30mins waitin time for the food. My daughter wanted lemon for her fish and chips, i asked the lady for extra 2 lemon slices and the manager (islander lady) said its $1 per slice, but jus few weeks ago it was 50cents per slice, anyway i agreed to the price. When the staff asked the manager who was in the counter to give us lemon she yelled “money first”. Wow what an attitude. Money hungry. Satisfy ur costumer first, we havent even eaten yet. You can have my extra $2 for your gold lemon and get yourself some manners too..
Megan Durrant
Honestly i now see why the reviews for this place are so bad. Terrible service. You wait and wait for someone to take your order why the 2 staff who are on look like their favorite puppy was shot. The waitstaff are rude. And the manager is awful. Really spend your money anywhere else.
Brizzle
Pancakes with banana and bacon, with a coffee $29.80......WTF! This isn’t a 4 star or 5 star restaurant, but they charge double for what it’s worth. I guess it’s to pay for all the staff (6 staff to cover 20 people in the restaurant.......and do you think we could get timely service....no!)
Nashi Dasgupta
This Coffee Club is always busy and the Manager lady is always friendly & welcoming. The staff towards the Night especially at the counter are a bit slow and give you looks as if they want the customers to go home ASAP so that they can close the kitchen.
Why does Coffee Club then have a Dinner Menu??
We have been there many a times and our first Experience was good when the Islander lady (Supposedly the Manager) welcomed us, took our order and made sure we were given good service.
We tried the Mexican Chicken Salad, Ciabatta sandwich and our very favourite Schnitzel which is no more on the menu.
Their Iced coffee is not The Best but is average.
Coffee Club’s portions are nice.
I love the location of this cafe,it is spacious but the service can improve much better compared to the other Coffee Clubs in Auckland.
Not that we are complaining but if a customer comes to a certain brand which is known for it’s coffee and has several branches, there is naturally a same expectation wherever you go. Just like McDonalds or Hollywood Bakery in layman’s language.

Dreadful food and poor service! I ordered the home made hash brown. It came out with grey greasy grated potatoes that were barely cooked. They had obviously been grated earlier in the morning and left to go grey-brown in the bowl. It was topped with a grey avocado smear and a bit of undercooked bacon and overcooked egg. Just revolting and expecting top dollar for it too. We will NOT be back here. We've visited many coffee clubs around the place and this is by far the worst. Do yourselves a favour and give this place a miss! Go to the food hall here - it's far better than this place!
AntoniaMA.
Our food wasn’t that great, and was a bit bland compared to the other coffee club branches we’ve been to - however the waiters we had were these 2 amazing young ladies who went out of their way to make sure my family and I were comfortably seated quickly, we didn’t have to wait long despite how packed it was in there AND offered the best service always checking up on us and also helping out with my Dad as he has trouble walking and sitting down. Keep up the good work! :)

Worst cafe ever. Order the two drinks a large flat white and hot chocolate with the entertainment book coupon. The flat white taste the same as a cup of plain hot milk with tiny bit coffee drops. Hot chocolate taste also very watery and doesn’t come with the marshmallow. The place is not even busy on the Monday afternoon. Not sure if the low quality drinks provided because the vouchers been used.
Boty
Horrendous experience. So if you just want a coffee you can’t sit inside. It’s all about making money, not customer service. If I could rate 0, I would put that. Columbus Coffee was way better!
S & F And Baby
Came here for a much needed catchup with some workmates. We ordered food and coffees. Food- okay, coffees-good, customer service-appalling! Staff look at you hopelessly, seem over-worked and have a zombie like attitude. One of them even frowned at me and made a face when my baby started crying in my arms.

Your cafe is not a free soup kitchen, we actually pay for the over priced food and drinks we order and consume. Shape up or just Ship out of Sylvia Park! A better cafe can take your place anytime! Never coming back!

Updates on 5 August 2018:

We were here for our afternoon coffee again today. We had cafĂŠ latte. This time the latte tasted more like lots of milk but very little coffee taste.

As it was a Sunday afternoon and pretty chilly out there, this cafe was full with customers having hot drinks and snack foods.

Tables and chairs were clean and neat, but the floor was in a mess with very visible crumbs and dirty particles. There were 8 waiting staff manning the cafe including the duty and store managers, but none of them seemed to have bothered about the dirty floor.

As usual, there was not even a single glass for water at the self service water shelves.

Previous comments:

Whenever we come to Sylvia Park Mall, we will drop by at this cafe to have our afternoon tea.

My family and I dropped by here today for our coffee break. The flat white and hot chocolate were average with pretty nice latte arts.

This cafe, although not very clean and neat, it was still slightly cleaner and neater than a lot of other The Coffee Club outlets. The waiting staff here were averagely friendly.

Food & Beverage : 4/10
Service : 6/10
Price : 6/10
Ambience : 4/10
We went there after a movie and tried to get 2 glasses of wine - they said they had ran out of wine!! When in reality I think they didn’t want to open a bottle.... if they had offered for us to buy a bottle we would have but they were so awkward and weird about it we just left.
Vikas Varma
I wish they were nicer 😭 they didn’t seem very happy. I guess it’s a Sunday the staff are young so they most likely are hungover and are coming down from a night of taking shots and popping Molly. Tsk tsk

June 2018. This well located outfit does a good job of being a chain store cafe that offers something nice to fill your pit while out on the go. Kind of like Macca's but a step or 3 up. We had salad with fish and chips, cider and apple juice. It was 'cafe-nice', generous portions and you knew what you were getting so no surprizes but also no dissappointments. Friendly staff, nice smiles. Warm inside. Some where you might not actually plan on for dinner but it does the trick nicely.

Unfortunately not a great experience. We went with three people around lunch time on a Saturday all ordered food and coffee. The coffee was absolutely week so that we had to send it back. We ordered a mellocino (to try) and was abolsulty made with no love. We paid 2.50 extra for them simply chucking to marshmallows on top of a cappuccino. When we send it back and complained about the coffee the waiter gave us a grim look and disappeared as if we were ripping them off. He did not take back the coffee. The coffee was full and we each spend around 30$ there so not a small bill. I had to walk to the bar and ask for a new normally strong coffee, which was then prepared for us. I asked to use the bathrooms and a lady who barely spoke English directed me to the end of the room. I had to encounter that that was the kitchen and that they don’t have bathrooms. No one seemed to care. I ended up using the bathroom in the bar next to them. I also have to say that some of the staff eg the girl that took our order was very nice and the big breakfast was quite nice too. However, some of the service personnel was insanely unprofessional and coffee really bad so that we all agreed that this was the last time we visited the coffee club in Sylvia Park.

I was so excited to try the new vegan items. But after my experience, I won't be returning to coffee club at all.
I ordered the smashed pea hummus on sourdough.
What arrived was whole warm peas on crusted hummus and stale, hard bread.
I'm not one to return food but this was just inedible.
I told a staff member I'd like to return it for those reasons. A female manager came back and returned my meal and said "that's just the way it is" "if I had taken your order I would have told you that it's dry" "because its vegan that's just the way it is". I told her I've had smashed pea hummus many times and never had it arrived so dry and poorly made. She was so rude to me. She just kept saying "that's just the way it is". I highly doubt that, as I've been a customer to Coffee Club for years. She eventually took the meal away and replaced it with the other vegan lunch item, the tofu salad. Let's just say I won't be back for that either. I'm very disappointed with the service provided and with the quality of the new vegan items. Sadly to say, I won't be returning to any coffee clubs from now on.

I am so disappointed in the meals and their price from this evening. The service was amazing but I felt absolutely horrible leaving my mother with my children to pay close to $80 for what we received. The portions were small, the meat was either reheated or a couple days old. Bread was stale. Sauces smelt and tasted off. Worst food I have had in a long time.
Simi
Absolutely appealing customer service from the girls behind the counter. Purchased take away drinks and asked for a glass of water for my niece, the girl was so rude when and literally threw the glass of water at me, with her fingers in the glass and the water spilling everywhere!!!

I was so shocked, however a very kind lady serving diners noticed what had happened, sat us down, provided us with a jug of water and some glasses. She was very kind and her gesture was much appreciated.

This experience was very unprofessional and I am extremely disappointed at the service I received as a paying customer.

To top it off, the caramel iced frappe was literally all milk and ice with no flavour what so ever. Hands down lowest grade coffee I have had at a coffee club franchise store.
Tb
The worst flat white I had in New Zealand. Cafe is not clean. Dirty seats, sticky couch, dusty tables. Unfriendly service, just short of rude, want to get you off their seats asap. Wouldn’t recommend or visit again. Too bad I can’t give it a zero.

so I ordered eggs benedict and they served me this gross looking food as seen on attached photo below. I asked the waiter about it I said the taste of the sauce was so awful it’s kinda sour and makes me vomit, bacon not cooked properly and the bread was not toasted and it’s cold..then the waiter just said oh well that’s how it should be..then walked away from me..he didn’t even offer to change it or whatever..
I wanted to return the plate to the counter to show
it to the manager and ask him if you’re in my place are you happy to pay $$ for this gross looking food?? but my partner stopped me from this doing this..and the ending i never eat it at all. what a waste!! never came back after the horrible experience
Bruna Martins
Worse experience of my life! PLEASE DONT EAT THERE ITS PURE DISAPPOINTMENT, MY FOOD HAD HAIR IN IT AND NONE EVEN APOLOGISED AND I HAD TO PAY FULL PRICE OF THE FOOD THAT I DIDNT EAT, COULD RATE THIS PLACE AS A -10 IF I COULD, THE WAITRESS IS EXTREMELY RUDE

We came for breakfast on Sunday morning, the food was fine, hot and plentiful. The smoothie was a bit on the sweet side for us, but otherwise it was good. The disappointment came with the bathroom facilities. Only 1 very tired bathroom for the whole shop - including staff as we had to wait for the waitress to exit the facility. This was a grim experience, and set the tone for the standard for the rest of the restaurant. No we won't bother returning here again.

Very unwelcoming staff 5 of went in for brunch we wanted to sit at a table with chairs that have a back instead we were told to sit a a huge table with stools which was inappropriate for my 2 year old asked for a high chair was told I would have to find 1 myself,I couldn’t find 1 so we set down wierdest thing was we ordered at the table but when asked for water we were told to grab it at the counter why only provide partial service at the table and if the water is supposed to be collected by customers at the counter shouldn’t you have some ready and also have clean glasses to go with it and before you say it was a busy cafe please don’t kid yourself it was no busy at all and there were plenty staff walking around to do so its all about organising your staff ok so after finding no water or glasses I asked again and informed the staff there was no water or glass were told they’d bring us some we ordered our food received our food ate it 3/4 way and finally received the water 😐 thank you very much. The food itself was very very average overly priced the fish and chips were unseasoned frozen fillets of pre battered fish on the menu made to sound like you were having fresh beer battered fish, chicken pizza was on a tortilla bread which wasn’t all that bad but not worth it chicken parmigiana was dry and lacked any flavour the bacon made it edible my soy chai latte which is not hard to make at all tasted nothing like chai was undrinkable however the strawberry milk was to die for all in all was an extreme waste of $96

Was here for my nephew birthday yesterday and l have to say this is the worst lunch. Had the Grilled Pesto Bruschetta, was really salty sitting on 2 small pieces of dry toast, my nephew having the steak sandwich and looks like they forgotten to sprinkles the chips same as for the nuggets that's goes with the chips and the breakfast bruschetta all cover with hollandaise sauce with tiny piece of bacon. Service wise, asked for water and was told to go and help yourself at the counter, got there and there's only 2 glasses. Stood there for awhile asking for more glasses, no one cares about you so just help myself behind the counter and was not even busy..use to be busy but looks like it's going downhill, not surprise at all. The staffs are good at clearing your dishes even you're not finish without asking you how's your meals? The menu given to us was torn and dirty. Spend over $80 and is not worthy at all, will not go back again..very disappointing.
Ayr683
Okay food, average service.. waitress asked if i wanted fried egg in my burger, I asked how much for fried egg, she said she’s offering it to me.. i thought it was free only to be charged $2.40 for it on my bill. Nachos were too salty and tangy, brioche burger buns tasted old.. will stick to pancake and caramelised bananas next time.
Andy
Horrible staff and evensive food. Not going to last with the competitions around. Paid $14 for wedges Overpriced and horrible quality. Waste of a good location. ........
Oksana Zhang
Got a Mexican Chicken Salad and a Mixed Berry Smoothie.

The salad was delicious! Full of flavour and generous portions of chicken; which was amazingly seasoned and tender! Got extra halloumi which bumped up the texture and fillingness of the dish. Crunchy crushed nacho chips and cheese screams “Mexican” and the slightly spicy chilli cheese sauce pulled everything together nicely.
Smoothie tasted quite like store-bought yoghurt though...

Nevertheless service was very friendly and prompt! This will set you back by $30.30.

Food: 9/10
Price: 7/10
Ambience: 7/10
Service: 9/10
Karen
Friendly staff and quick service during lunch time. We loved our berry smoothies and our meals were perfectly fine and enjoyable. We've been here for afternoon tea too, and really enjoyed some of the cakes from the cabinet.

Been here a few times. Always order the same thing cos the eggs benedict are so delicious. Its always really busy but doesnt really affect the service. Overall an awesome place to eat!

Coffee Clubs have been very average with food. However recently it's been better. We visited this branch for brunch last week. It was quite busy with a lot of people coming in for coffees. We were seated and received table service as it is offered here. We ordered Classic Pancakes and the Fish Burger. Food and drinks came out pretty fast. I requested maple syrup with the pancakes which cost an extra 90c. The meals were nice, but not amazing. Half way through our meal one of the stuff members put our bill on the table which I found odd.

The overall experience is definitely average, and if there were better options in Sylvia Park I probably wouldn't return.

Make sure you check the price they charge, especially for takeaway orders as I was overcharged with no acceptable explanation.

I came here to order a tea for takeaway, had a look at the menu which said $4.30 for a Large (they don't offer any other sizes for tea). When I went to place the order I was informed that takeaway is $5 which I assumed was to cover the cost of a takeaway cup, not a big deal.

When I received my tea, I discovered it was a medium cup so I questioned why I received a medium when the menu clearly shows only large is offered. The lady stated that takeaway orders are priced from a different menu, so I asked to see this "takeaway" menu. She said they don't have a copy of the "takeaway" menu for customers to see, and that they simply enter the price when we order. After listening to more of her lies, I asked to see the manager. The manager also gave a few unclear explanations and I settled for a partial refund as I was in a rush to see a movie.

Very bad business practice. I would suggest creating a copy of this "takeaway" menu IF it even exists, or at least some clear way of letting customers know exactly what they will be paying for. If I was shown a menu that said my medium tea would cost $5, I would have no complaint at all.
Amanda Choi
There was a metal scrub wire in my pasta. They changed it after I complained. But still charge me the same full price. I found a so called “mushroom hair” which I am pretty sure it’s a underarm hair in my 2nd pasta. Maybe it’s not a good idea to go there anymore.

Worst Eggs Benedict I've had. Eggs overcooked, no spinach and i struggled to eat the bread as everything was so dry. My partner also stated his breakfast was dry and did not taste very nice.
I understand that they were busy at the time but the food took a very long time to come to the table.
Colin Abi Nakad
I was there this morning and I would like to talk about 2 issues , the first one is the cleanliness : they offered me the green tea in a dirty white pot (the spout is black). the second issue is that all the tables are reserved , it is so weird , who would like to book a table in a cafe in a mall? and we stayed 2 hours and nobody show to fill all those reserved tables. It is obvious that the management wants to book tables for people who want to have lunch or breakfast and not for a cup of coffee.
Tom Rusher
Had poached eggs here and coffee. The Eggs were cooked perfectly which is great because so many Cafe's have no idea how to poach eggs. The Coffee was great which was also good as so many Cafe's have no idea how to make good coffee. The toast choice could be improved, otherwise a good experience, I am surprised at the low ratings on here.

Saturday Night dinner with my sister. Party of 3.

Value: 3/5
Not overly expensive but definitely not a place you can eat at everyday. $19 for Calamari and chips and an over priced hot chocolate. I don't mind paying for an over priced hot chocolate every now and then.

Venue: 3/5
Wasn't too full tonight, it was a bit cold tonight so everyone was seated in the main seating area inside. I prefer it when it's not too crowded.

Service: 5/5
I don't normally like coming to the Sylvia Park branch but made an exception tonight. We were greeted by a lovely lady and seated straight away the ladies working tonight were really attentive and lovely.

Food: 3/5
Good food nothing outstanding. I like their hot chocolate.
Phillip Liu
The food takes a bit longer than usual, and the place is a bit crowded and noisy, but it has great food and good coffee and good service. The meals are good, and has a lot of options.
Went there this Monday and they have waste my 30 minutes..... meals didn't come at all. Looks like their chef have screwed this up..... It has happened to me last year when they deliver meal like 50 minutes later...

So we were off to an early session at the movies so decided to grab some breakfast here. We were greeted by a nice waitress and sat us at a table. We ordered a large coffee and a large mocha. The coffee was average but being a cold day wasn't to fussed. So my partner ordered a salmon Benedict and I the mix grill. What a disappointment to say the least. If I'm going to be paying top dollar for a breakfast I would expect it to be nice and fresh. The best thing on the plate was the poached eggs but other than that nothing else stood out. Store bought hollandaise, not the freshest salmon we've tasted and the lack of presentation with the Benedict left my partner dissatisfied. My mix grill had a steak which I asked for medium rare tasted and felt like it was cooked in the microwave with no seasoning at all. The 2 deep fried sausages that looked like the chef forgot in the fryer were horrible and the rest of the breakfast just managed to reach me barely Luke warm. Yet again the eggs were nice but that was about it. All in all being this establishment situated in a busy and well known mall and having to pay top dollar for breakfast which probably any other cafe in the area would serve 10x better. I would expect a whole lot more. I won't be going back here
KM
What a shame this place is to have such a cold feeling atmosphere. The staff barely seem interested when anyone enters the cafĂŠ but seem to smile when people leave.

Hubby and I had breakfast here. Ordered the big breakfast and salmon eggs bene with 2x mochas. Big breaky looked okay and tasted alright with the store bought hollandaise sauce and store bought hash brown.

The place was so quiet apart from the faint murmurs of the customers chatter. Why isn't there any music to bring up the vibe of the place?

I commend the chef on the poached eggs. They were excellent and cooked perfectly. His cooking skills were what saved my score from being a 1. The mocha was average and wasn't pleasant enough for me to finish it.

Won't be back here, ever.
Ashleigh Michelle
The staff are very friendly. But other than that, nothing stands out here. Service and food is consistent, but quite over priced. The coffee is average, probably should be cheaper. Will be back somewhat regularly though, as there aren't many cafe options in Sylvia Park.
Chiny Chin Chin
It's actually not that bad. I have visited a few times and so far so good. Busy lunch time so I don't expected excellent customer services. Food is OK. Only thing is the price range is pretty high and I couldn't afford to visit every day.

Great location at Sylvia Park. Situated at the Dining Lane area in the mall wherein they are open/close earlier/later than the mall shops. Close to Hoyts cinemas. Been here a few times already. The service is ok, wait to order is 10-15mins then another 10-15 minutes to get served for a slice and hot chocolate at busiest peak. One friendly staff amongst the rest. A bit overpriced and average. Must try is their Eggs Benedict with salmon as its worth the price. The hot chocolate is too runny and taste flat. Perhaps I should come back when they are quiet.

Went early so wasn't packed as usual so our food came out quick. Ordered the Big Breakfast and my sister ordered the spinach & mushroom eggs benedict. The Big breakfast was sooo good!!! The steak was good and cooked to perfection. I also ordered a Chocolate Frappe and it was one of the best ones i've had so far.

Food is really average and a bit disappointing.
We had our plates cleared while we were still eating which I actually don't like very much but it's not a biggy. But then one of the staff decided to stack the tables right next to us and start cleaning, which was confusing as we were there for late lunch and they don't close till late evening. We were told it was because they had to clean for dinner service. That's fine but I think it's really rude and unhygienic to do it while there are still people sitting right there, at least wait for us to finish.
Tbh I think you pay too much for food that isn't worth it and the atmosphere isn't nice.
Really average food and service. It's your typical cafe food but lacks everything. Came here with a group of 6, it wasn't too busy but it felt like we had to wait a while for the food.

Staff weren't very helpful either. Because there was 6 of us looking at the menus and deciding what to order, the wait staff seemed quite impatient with us.

The seating is quite nice but that's the only positive.

Lots of flies flying through out the restaurant and it took nearly 20mins to serve a slice of cake from the cabinet with a hot chocolate.

Overpriced, slow in service and food wasn't done properly. I feel the only reason why people go to coffee club Sylvia park is due to its handy location. This however shouldn't deter the management and staff from delivering excellence..

I ordered poached eggs on toast - 45 mins later I got basically hard boiled eggs on toast.

They need to lift their standards. Only good thing about it is location.
Choco
Good for coffee takeaways, from what i have read below, the food appears to be quite a messy affair. Staff service is mediocre. Again this is not in my list of fav Coffee clubs.

Food - 3.0
Ambiance - 3.0
Staff - 4.0
Price - 2.0

It is a safe choice for a feed when at Sylvia Park. Staff, particularly Sulia (waitress), are friendly and smiley. Sulia takes orders without writing them down but manages to get all of them right. Food is okay (ordered eggs benny with salmon today), but a bit pricey for what you get. Their chai latte is TOO SWEET.

Will keep coming back here for one good reason alone - its strategic location.

Charlene Weaver
Overpriced food for what you get. I ordered the eggs, toast, bacon and tomato, after finishing my food there was a small pool of oil left at the bottom of my plate. The food is decent tasting but for the same price there are much nicer cafes out there! The banana honey smoothie and watermelon frappe we ordered were far too sweet and the watermelon frappe tasted more like an artificial flavoured, bubble tea drink than something refreshing and fruity.

Came here the other day with my sister. I got the Chicken, cranberry and Brie open toastie along with a small cappuccino. My sister got the smoked salmon and cream cheese omelette along with a regular chai latte. Both our meals came together and it came quite fast, probably within 10 minutes of ordering our meals. Everything tasted delicious. My toastie was nice and warm and everything went well together. My sisters salmon and cheese omelette was also very delicious and quite filling. Overall the food was delicious, the customer service was great, but only thing I was a little confused with was that we got our bill before we were even finished with our meal. 🤔
Food (4/5) Service (3.5/5)

Gosh the girl at the counter is not someone you want taking your order. To make it worse, the Chocolate Milkshake I ordered is just like chocolate milk, with no thickness to it at all. One good thing is the Indian guy who was clearing tables and taking food to the tables - he's a star! He's customer focused and friendly.

Came here for a Saturday breakfast, the staff while friendly were not very helpful. We waited awhile for our food and coffee after we ordered. We asked to make sure our order has been put through, the waiter just said its coming (without even checking what we ordered). When our food finally arrived my brioche was burnt, we I told the waitress about she said that's how it supposed to be and its not burnt. By then we were too hungry to argue.

Customer service was good on our visit..the crispy salmon had literally crispy skin but apart from that food was very oily and bland..my hubby's squid was bland as well..needs improvement with food taste.

Went to the Sylvia park coffee club, it's very busy so service was not fantastic. The bread was far over buttered and when I got my coffee is was luke warm. Friends made it a good time but I could've stayed home and made better food myself.

Went there for lunch, l ordered a Philly Cheese Steak Sandwiches and l had to made a complaint because my Philly Cheese Steak Sandwiches there hardly any steak in my sandwiches plus there were too much beetroot but no cheese at all. Horrible
Cupy Dee
HORRIBLE service!! were told to help ourselves for water when there're no glasses available for water at the counter. Our plate got taken away rudely while some of us still chewing on our food. Hugely overpriced for small portion below average quality food. Seriously how can you justify to charge people $30 for a thin slice of bread and a tiny steak of salmon?!!!

Staff had no smiles on their faces and had no interests in helping their customers at all. Management was a disaster. When we went to pay with our entertainment voucher, manager refused honour the voucher and gave bs excuses on how we couldn't use it.

What more can you say about this place? It's right a the middle of the mall, so it will never lack of customers. However I seriously think this place is such a disgrace. This kind of attitude and management style is so disgusting that they should be ashamed of themselves.

I would seriously suggest everyone to boycott as it's totally unacceptable for them to take advantage of their customers and operate a greedy unethical business like this!
Michelle Ma Belle
This place is not cheap at all, nor is the food extraordinary, however for some reason we visit all the time. I guess it is just an easy place to catch up.

My vegetarian pasta was actually nice with massive portion. The chocolate thick shake was another favorite, though a bit on the expensive side.

My friend found her black Forrest cake quite bland; though another friend could not recommend her walnut brownie hot chocolate enough, so I guess overall it is okay.
Harry
Brunch at sylvia park, very busy in the weekend. Tables and chairs outside too close together and clamped. Need ramp for elderly wheelchairs no staff member to help around someone we saw. Meal was okay should serve with different bread not normal white bread, long wait. Ice chocolate came out way before our meal so had to try not drink it all at once. Will try egg bene next time
Marcella
Went here for lunch today and got the mocha, big breakfast and the baked brekkie hot pot. The mocha came fairly quickly. The food took longer to come though and when they did come, presentation was lacking.

The toasted ciabatta bread that we got could've been toasted better and were served without any margarine or butter which was unfortunate. The steak on the big breakfast was overcooked. The bacon also didn't have that caramelised colour so the fat wasn't really rendered down.
My baked brekkie had good flavour in the sauce and the mushrooms were nicely cooked. If only melted cheese was part of the dish, that would've just made the dish.

Overall, service was pretty good. It was just the food that was a bit disappointing. Not the best coffee club branch.
Fergus Bruce
Really not quite sure how this restaurant achieved 1.8 as an average rating as this seems a tad on the high side from my personal stance. Four of us ate here on a Saturday morning recently and whilst the waitress was very efficient, the service relatively prompt and most of us finished our meals I can't help thinking how mediocre the food was and how vastly over priced it was. 'Unlikely I'll ever eat here again.

Perhaps just reverse synergy in action....
Carly Sutton
Had some lovely lemon pepper calamari. Service was a bit confusing and my vanilla iced coffee didn't have any coffee but otherwise pleasant enough
Polash Shariful Hasan
Been there recently along with my better half. We always try their velvet cake. We loved that cake. Good taste. Coffee was average. Service was ok.
Kirsten
Today I came in here and ordered a cappuccino. Since it was really packed inside, it took less than 10 minutes for my cup of coffee to arrive. As soon as I took my first sip from the cappuccino, it was very bland. However, I wonder about the coffee beans which this Coffee Club uses? It is completely different from the other Coffee Club outlets that I have been to (St Lukes, Greenlane, Ellerslie, Newmarket and Milford). I can't say much about the staff since they weren't responsive to the customers at the front. I was waiting for over five minutes trying to order my coffee. Overall, I will not come back here due to the bland cup of coffee I had. It was a huge let down for me and I do not recommend you foodies or coffee addicts to come here.

Came here for lunch with the folks. Ordered nachos and a ham & pineapple crisp pizza. After a long wait (which was expected as it was quite packed), our nachos came... But that was all. Whilst we waited we had asked our waitress for a bottle of water and two empty glasses, which was also dismissed and forgotten and had to be repeated to another member of staff after receiving a single glass of water. The nachos we ordered were tasty. All in all such a disappointing experience and as this was my parents first time at the coffee club it's safe to say we won't be returning.

Went here today for lunch and after reading the reviews on here decided to play it safe with some wedges with sour cream, sweet chilli bacon and cheese. The atmosphere was noisy and crowded although the staff were friendly they were also quite fast paced. My cup of water had BROWN stuff that was able to be scratched off on the top of the glass, where you put your lips which was disgusting. The wedges were just really normal no wow factor and then when we went to pay, they ended up being $18 once we added on the cheese and bacon which is pretty ridiculous for a bowl of wedges. All in all disappointed in this coffee club.

We usually come here for coffee and cake after dinner (that's what we did tonight). The coffees are usually good but my favourite part about coming here is the chocolate cake!

I've eaten here once or twice before, the food didn't have a wow effect but I remember really enjoying the Cajun chicken :)

This is a nice cafe that is open till late. The ambience is fair but overall noisy. The food and beverages need improvement. Service is fair.

Came here last week with my dad for breakfast, have eaten at the different coffee club cafes a number of times but never the Sylvia park one. I got the pancake stack with bacon banana and mushrooms. This time my bacon was undercooked and my banana also wasn't cooked at all (it is cooked every other time). The mushrooms were dry and looked like they had were old and had been chucked in the microwave and in a bowl. The service was average but we had a smelly waiter which wasn't very nice. The food is never great at coffee club but this time it was well below average and was left unsatisfied - also they could not be forgiven as the pricing was way to high for what we got.

Hubby and I came for breakfast as I've always had a good experience with the CC in High St. He ordered the biggest breakfast on the menu and me, the eggs bene (my go to brekkie when nothing else speaks to me on a menu - most places plate up differently and very inventive with presentation which I think can make the taste experience slightly better than the last bene). Our waiter was a delightful young lad who was happy to be there. Sadly the only bonus.
The 'coffee maker' makes my long black in a coffee mug - strike one. The wholemeal toast I request only to be told when they bring out meal has run out - amusing to run out of wholemeal when we are like the fourth table there shortly after opening ?. So they didn't let me know and assumed I wouldnt notice or mind white buttered and soggy toast. Strikes two and three. We out!...but not before I return my plate requesting for fresh toast not buttered...it took a long time as the 'cook' looked peeved at the return so he left my plate under the lights while he took his time popping me some fresh ones. When it finally arrived I returned it back and promptly asked for a refund. Hubby's food was average. The cooks attitude was on my eggs bene plate. Cold, uninviting and boring. I rate he and his poor excuse for brekkie 0/5 but had to give a rating to submit my review.
this place was okay.. the table we sat as was wobbly and the breakfast average.. my calamari was not well cooked but my smoothie was cold and nice.. won't be going here anytime soon

Could not order a coffee at the counter. (??) so got told to grab a seat. Then everyone ignored me. I tried getting the attention of someone to avail. Went back to the counter and got told to sit down and someone would take my order shortly. Tried getting the attention of any staff again and eventually decide to leave - had a coffee within 5min elsewhere in the mall.

1.0 is way too high!

We visited Sylvia Park today and decided to have lunch at the Coffee Club. Bad decision, the house Sauvignon was far too like an unoaked Chardonay but it was drinkable if not to our taste.

The beer battered fish and chips were AWFUL, probably the worse dish I have been served in 10 years in NZ. Tasted like it was reheated not fresh cooked, no seasoning, tasteless and disappointing for a very simple dish.

Citrus Chicken salad should have no way of going wrong but apart from a watery pink liquid, sauce? in the bottom of the plate below the limp leaves there was no citrus to be seen or tasted.

Did anybody bother to ask us about the food, naturally not. We ate it and quickly left after paying $54 - a rip off and a lesson - never use this restaurant!

Went for a drink and a cheeky piece of cake the other day... the drink was good although over priced and the cake was warm and stale... not to mention wait staff was rude.. :(

Dont waste your time. The wait staff weren't bad. Minimal english made it difficult. The coffee tasted burnt. The food took far too long to prepare. When it got to me it was rubbery reheated goop. I asked if it was frozen and appearently most of the items are. I was watching the chefs prepping the food during which, one sneezed into his bare hands and continued prepping. I asked a staff member if he was new and they told me he was the owner. Ill say it again. Dont waste your time.

Went in for lunch with 4 friends. 2 of us ordered a BLT combo, got it with 10 pieces of fries, which cost about $19! Over priced. We then got told that they would cook us some more, only it never came! We waited 30 minutes for extra bowl of chips but couldn't be bothered staying there any more and left. The service was terrible. 4 people came to serve us and not one of them looked bothered. One girl came to deliver our food, asked us who ordered what and still gave it to the wrong people. We spoke to the manager who was only trying to make excuses for their poor staff. Absolutely terrible staff and service. Overpriced food for poor quality. Disgusting.

If I could give this less than a 1 star I would! Went for a birthday lunch with my friend. Service was appalling, took ages for the waitress to come take our order, in fact we had to go to the counter to get someone. When she did come she could barely speak English and definitely wasn't interested in our questions regarding the menu. When we asked her a question she was idly watching something else going on in the restaurant and we had to get her attention, twice!! No water came, we had to ask for it. They weren't busy as it was close to 2pm and so the lunchtime rush was over. The food took forever, we were just about to get up and walk out when it came. Pretty so-so food, we both had the open sandwich and both were cold. We were by this stage too hungry to argue to send it back. For what they charged it was a complete rip off. All in all a very disappointing birthday lunch. Definitely will not go back and will go out of our way to put people off from going there. Plenty more decent places to have lunch. The management need to read these reviews and start smartening their act up!

Not sure what the other reviewers are talking about...
Came here midday on a Saturday and was seated quickly, service didn't blow me away but was quick. We received our meals a mere 5 minutes after ordering and found them very tasty.
I particularly recommend the chicken club sandwich, despite being a light meal I couldn't eat it all and left full and satisfied
Rina
Bad service- Was referred to a table that still had leftover plates/food from whoever sat there before us. Had order taken from young waitress thinking she'll remove these plates she didn't so we cleared them ourselves. Waited for food more then half hour while kids were getting restless and watching others being served their meals yet arrived later then we did. Food was cold and "dry" tasting. Wouldn't go back just a quick coffee stop but not to eat in.
Deb Thurgood
I'm not sure why I keep going back, I think I hope that things get better. Had lunch there today and service was poor. Was told there would be a 25min wait on delivery (but only after I asked as had my toddler with me) and when the meals were delivered, no cutlery was given. After 5 minutes I went inside to ask the staff and the waitress (carrying cutlery apparently destined for a table served after us) said she would get some. Maybe she could have given me the cutlery in her hands at the time??
On my visit before this one, with a girlfriend for lunch, we were ignored for about 20 minutes and I ended up having to get up and approach a staff member just to get the menus.
Definitely not a service or food experience worthy of the prices they charge :(
Priti Mugam
Went in to have breakfast, the service was terrible the food even worse. The menus were thrown onto the table not given to us. What can i say about the food, my partner had the pancakes French style stack, the berries were no where near fresh as claimed by the promotional poster. Ice cold berries looked more like a smoothie.
My egg and toast tasted like cardboard and the extra i paid to have the mushrooms was a waste of money they were last weeks stock, over cooked and rubbery. However we had to pay full price. This is terrible service. To top it of when I was talking about how I was not happy with the food the staff just walked away from me.
Will never go back and will not recommending this place to anyone.
Sonrisa Bella
Terrible coffee and low quality burger for a high price. Burger was clearly a store bought patty oozing with creamy, not so tasty sauce. Coffee did not taste fresh, and flat white came with lots of foam. Very disappointed with my experience, and can't see myself returning.
Angelique
This place used to be my favorite omelet place but now bland and overcooked ever since it's under new management owned by Chinese. Just imagine having egg fooyung with milkshake, nah, wrong place with wrong food, never go back again!
Jessica
Food is overpriced. Dont mind paying higher than average cafe prices if the food is, but it falls sadly short. $7.50 for an old crusty looking sausage roll? Please. Friend ordered lasagne at $11.50 so was expecting something semi-decent, came out looking like someones leftovers, was hardly anything on the plate. Ordered a side order of chips at $3.80 - came out on a tiny plate, were approximately ten chips on the plate. We are not the type of people to complain but both vowed - never again. Total rip off. Also had a latte which tasted burnt, would have probably gotten nicer food from Hollywood cafe at about one fifth of the price.

The last two time I have been to this resturant we ordered Iced Coffee anlong with other items of food, previous weren't memorable.
Both times the iced coffee was tepid and not made correctly, both times sent back and replaced.
I found the service slow and the last visir my corn savory was delivered cold but with butter, it was awful cold and i wasn't about to wait again as i was now running late to return to woek because of the slow service. I will not be returning.

The service was ok unfortunately MAJOR letdown with the food, went there for breakfast with my friend, we both ordered omelette's for breakfast. After the first two bites into the omelette, my friend found with horrid disbelief, a fly cooked into her omelette, wings and all. This was no small fly, it was big enough to not miss at all. When the manager was called and advised, she tried to brush it off as a small fruit fly, apologised and offered another fresh omelette which my friend decided to accept (although we were both disgusted with the fly!!)
We are not the type to make a scene so continued with our meals quietly, and when it came to paying for the meal we were given a mere discount of $1.35 off the total meal.
Not only was it a major OSH/health hazard, it was handled poorly by the manager and we have advised everyone we know to never go there. Maybe if we created a big scene in front of everyone about a big fly being cooked into the omelette we might have had a better service!

Horrible chain cafe.

Expensive prices and cheap food.
I tried the steak sandwich, the steak was like rubber and every other ingredient seemed like it was pre packaged.

Defiantly not a relaxing environment.

Don't go

Been here a few times before/after the movies. It is what you expect from a large place in a mall - fairly busy, quick but unimpressive service and a standard selection of food. Happy with what we got, and will go back.
Allister Yan
Came here for breakfast just before going to the movies. 1st time here. 2 adults and 2 kids. Coffee and service ok. Omelette was overcooked and big breakfast was not appealing.
Paula
Took my mother there for Mothers Day lunch was very busy so a wait was expected. I had to get my own menu. Ordered some water a flat white and the Turkish chicken avo sandwich. The coffee was warm not hot and the sandwiches were quite bland. Not overly impressed quite boring ingredients and the service could have been friendlier. My water never arrived so I had to get up and go ask for some again. I went to use my entertainment voucher which they would not accept. I thought it was only not on public holidays. So I walked away less than satisfied with the service, the food and paying full price. What a sad mothers day day lunch :(
