Review Tastea Alley - Auckland Central

Benedict Uy
First noticed it since they had souffle pancakes on offer. I still haven't been able to try those yet but did try their taro pearl milk tea. It had quite a nice flavour. Just head up to the counter to order and then wait for the food/drinks. They also do food so it would be a nice place to just sit and eat for hours over multiple courses. Note that the souffle pancake is only available after 1700.

i believe we got the brûlée milk tea and the cheese strawberry smoothie. the wait was a bit too long, like more than 15 minutes when we were the only people there but the drinks were really nice.
Ivan Lau
The beef noodles are pretty decent, good value and full if beef chunks. The broth is a bit richer and saltier than most Taiwanese beef noodles but definitely just as good.

Perfect for you girls who wants to take a pict for your social media 🙊 so instagramable! The fluffy pancakes is litterally the fluffiest pancake i've ever taste so far, it melts in your mouth!

**Absolute Best, so 'boutique', cant wait to try the food - when time can be taken to sit & enjoy (like ALL the patrons were observed to while waiting for our Teas)... ;))

I first noticed this place because of soufflé pancakes but unfortunately they are not selling it anymore. I tried most of their food and milk tea. Food is quite average and best one is noodle soup. They had quite different types of milk tea. Service is okay and cute interior decor. Overall good place for small hotpot, good portion and reasonable price.

We had hotpot and it was worth the price. My fav were the quail eggs. I rated 4/5 the other broth (with tomato) was not too good. But overall it’s good.
Amy
This concept of individual hotpot is amazing. It’s so much cheaper than going to hotpot restaurants and those who don’t like hotpot can order something else from the menu.<br/><br/>I ordered the lamb hotpot with spicy broth and noodles, for only $2 I added the lemon passion fruit drink which comes as a combo with the individual hotpot. The pot came out filled to the brim with meat, fish cakes, quail egg and vegetables. The soup broth was the perfect level of spice for me. The noodles come out in a separate bowl and I recommend adding them once you’ve finished 3/4 of the hotpot to soak up the remaining soup. <br/><br/>Overall, I would highly recommend this place as it’s super affordable. I paid less than $20 for my individual hotpot with a drink. The hotpot does get a bit salty towards the end but you can ask the waitress for more broth.

Service:(1/5)<br/>Although the ambience was super instagramable, customer service was the worst that I’ve ever had. The female cashier who took our order pulled her long face like we owned her million bucks and her voice was so low that we couldn’t hear what she said and we needed to triple confirm with her. <br/>Food:(3/5)<br/>The mini hot pot was good, but I can tell they definitely put tons of MSG in the soup because after eating all three of us felt super thirsty and kept drinking water the whole afternoon.<br/>Braised pork belly with rice was average compared to other places but the sweet and sour chicken with rice was too sour won’t recommend. Also the milk tea was horrible very watery.

really nice environment and also a good place for taking photos. The food is delicious,i will come again

This place is definitely a dream place for girls to go take photo and have yummy food! Surprisingly they served nice yoghurt drinks as well as mini hot pot and good braised pork mince rice !! Cheap and yummy!! I’ve been there many times and recommended to many of my friends, everybody loves it! Fried squid and fried chicken is good as well!

They stop selling soufflé pancakes, ///T T//// !!!!! Heart broken!!!! No way~~~~~~~~~They stop selling soufflé pancakes, ///T T//// !!!!! Heart broken!!!! No way~~~~~~~~~

This is not authentic Taiwanese cuisine... The Braised pork on rice is not good at all and its disappointing since I was very hyped to come to this place from all the good reviews. The beef noodle soup was quite bland and cant really taste the beef stock. However the noodles were quite chewy. Sadly i won't be returning to this place.
The Poor Foodie
Want to go for hotpot but no one is free? No worries coz you now have mini hot pot by yourself 😅. First time trying it in nz and to be honest it was pretty good! I got the beef pot and herbal soup base recommended by the staff and added $2 for grape yoghurt drink ($2 is a really good deal!) the herbal soup was not too strong so don’t worry for those who worry about the strong herbs taste. The pot had meat, tofu, beancurds and vege and you can choose to have rice or noodles. I would say $17 is a good price given that there were quite a lot of stuff in the pot. <br/>Lots of people ordered the soufflé also but I went there alone and the hot pot was already enough for me. But I will come back to try the soufflé! <br/><br/>Food: 4/5<br/>Service: 4/5<br/>Overall: 4/5

Love their pork sauce rice! Ordered it every time I am here. Hot pot is pretty decent as well, and the pancake
Diner8Here
A cute little trendy Taiwanese eatery here in wellesley street i saw as i was walking by and came into try their Taiwan nuggets here with white rice, abit bland on the nuggets but i don't mind as as i'm currently on a diet anyway, and a nice n hot hearty jasmine latte tea, Not luke warm too. <br/>They have about 3 different menus to chose from or 4 if counting the bubble teas, nice bright ambience too catering for all and must some come back and try their pancakes/hot pots later one day eh.
Lyla
Tried the souffle pancakes here, loved the texture and size (compared to the price) but something was lacking. The flavour could be enhanced, as I could taste more egg/flour rather than the topping which was Custard Brulee. The sweet and sour pork with rice was good, maybe it could be less sour. Overall ambience was good and would visit again for a snack.
Bumblebee
Pretty average food. Read most of the comments having people raving about the beef noodle soup. Turned out very disappointing for me. Not the usual beef noodle soup i would have expected. Soufle is okay i got the brown sugar pearl soufle. Keen to try other flavour they offer for soufle.

Food 3/5<br/>Ambiance 4.5/5<br/>Service 4/5<br/><br/>Modern and youngish feel bubble tea house.Very appealing for the young adult market. I love their execution of my matcha“plant” milk tea.Very unique I have seen so far. Taste was reasonable
Jessica
Had the mini hotpot, very good portion! Love the hot spicy soup! Surprisingly packed on rainy night, nearly full house! Also had the grapefruit green tea very refreshing with the spicy hot pot. A good place to go when u crave for hotpot without the need to pay too much. Lovely staffs but they look very busy so can’t expect too many table service which is understandable.
BlankLove
Summary: <br/>Not a place that amazes me, I would say it has some good and some bad, but not a place I would urge to visit again.<br/><br/>Taste - 3/5<br/>Environment - 3/5<br/>Cleanliness - 3/5<br/>Service - 2/5<br/>Price - it’s decent, not expensive<br/><br/>The brown sauce chicken is delicious, love the sauce, seasoned very well and the chicken was tenderized really well. The mini hot pot is a bit overloaded with that tiny pot so it takes quite awhile for it to boil. The ingredients are pretty ordinary for hot pot, nothing surprising so if you want to have hot pot alone, then it’s a pretty good option. But if you want some good hot pot place then this ain’t the place for you.<br/><br/>The drink isn’t that great either, it just felt like they poured it out from some bottled drinks. The soufflé was alright, but it was serviced very early before we even finished our meal. Would expect them to serve it after our meal, so you should order after finishing the main meal.
Ompong Monkey
Went here with a bunch of friends to try their infamous soufflé pancakes. Was not disappointed at all; it was fluffy, had different textural component and was just tastea ;) also got bubble tea while waiting. The wait wasn’t too long. The brown sugar pearl pancakes were surprisingly a little salty which was good because it contrasted the sweet brown sugar flavour and the pearls were good too!
Sasha San
Wonderful interior, wonderful aesthetic & wonderful food! Had a great time eating here - the food & drinks were absolutely delicious (and looking so good!) and the portions left us feeling satisfied. Would definitely recommend their hotspots - may appear tiny, but looks are deceiving! Will leave you content! The entire place was extremely photoshoot worthy and set a great ambience for dining. Dining experience was really fun! Very good pricing too. Would come here again, 10/10!
Alma Eats
A popular affordable spot amongst the younger generation with its bright and fun interior, and conveniently close to the universities, this Taiwanese eatery has a lot to offer that is bound to be up your alley! I have been here multiple times now, as Tastea offers so much Taiwanese meals, snacks and drinks to satisfy our hunger, from noodle and rice dishes, mini hotpot to soufflé and milk tea. With its seriously insta-worthy and colourful interior (although may not be to some people's taste), you definitely can't miss it when walking past! There are numerous spots just waiting for you to take photos for the gram, with its playful decor providing the perfect backdrop.<br/><br/>Tastea's cute mini hotpots were introduced as their winter special and has been extremely popular (I have seen people repeatedly go back for it!). They are perfect for this cold weather when you're craving but not wanting to go all out at the traditional hotpot restaurants. Priced $16.80/$18.80, it contains a lot for one, with meat, veges and your typical hotpot ingredients, so you will definitely leave full and satisfied. You choose your preset meat, soup base and noodle type/rice. Plus it's only $2 to add one of the selected drinks! I recommend getting the Premium Beef/Lamb with tomato soup, which definitely seems to be the go-to soup base having heard not as good reviews for the others. I've tried the new Shacha BBQ soup as well which was a bit spicy but I managed to finish. It was also very thick, even after adding water when I needed more soup. Not sure if they are adding more soup to the pot now (since it evaporates quite fast) as in my most recent visit, it was splattering everywhere... bit of a health and safety issue?<br/><br/>If you're just after some simple rice and noodle dishes, Tastea has a large variety to choose from. They've got noodle soups to warm us up but if you're feeling like dry noodles, I recommend the Pork Sauce Noodles - it's also pretty cheap at only $10.80.<br/><br/>Soufflé has also been a popular addition to their menu, with six different flavours on offer. The custard brulee and tiramisu seem to be the most popular choices. We got the custard brulee flavour - Jiggly, soft and spongy, it's not too sweet, and you can definitely taste the egg in it. The texture reminded us of Uncle Tetsu's cheesecakes so if you're a fan of those, you will like this for sure. They are made fresh to order so you have to wait about half an hour but the staff do check that you are okay with the wait first. It comes with two pieces but the price is not too cheap.<br/><br/>Check out my insta @ohmyfoodiegoodie to follow more of my tried eats.

The food is better than the bubble tea for sure. Delicious beef noodles soup with a kick of spice. The fried pork was seasoned well and tasted yum, the noodles that came with it was a bit on the plain side. Would be back as it was value for money.

Love the interior design. It is definitely a insta worthy spot for some killer photos. Bubble tea taste very good but presentation is just ok.

"Duang Duang Duang"<br/>Soft & Moist<br/>Not as sweet as a lot of western desserts.<br/>My friends had their bubble tea and she said it was very good as well.<br/>Like it!

I’d been wanting to come here for a while after seeing so many posts and stories being shared of the beautiful souffle pancakes.<br/><br/>We ordered two individual hotpots with a grape yoghurt drink added on for $2, Taiwanese Chicken Nuggets, and a Brown Sugar Pearl Souffle Pancake. <br/><br/>I absolutely loved the mini hotpot, I chose Premium Beef with Tomato Soup Base and instant noodles. The flavour was great and the pot was bursting with a great variety of veges, and typical hotpot ingredients. The chicken nuggets wasn’t as flavourful as I had hoped and the meat was a bit pink in every piece. The pancakes were definitely a must-try. The texture was light and fluffy and the cream poured all over the pancakes tasted like the cheese topping on bubble teas - delicious.<br/><br/>A really cute bubble tea spot/restaurant, vibrant colours and decor, friendly staff. Looking forward to coming back soon to try other pancake flavours.
MCP
A cute taiwanese joint - came here a while back with a friend for their milk tea; tastes ok and not too sweet with tons of choices too! Havent tried their food yet but will come back to try
Sabrina Hea
Came to try the Tiramisu Soufflé cake. The cake was so soft and jiggly- melted in your mouth. The tiramisu topping was also really nice- probably a little too sweet for my liking, but still a good combination.
Spyro
Went there with my friends. Worker didn’t understand how to split payment on register. The food was average and portions were tiny. The tables and seats were so tiny - we only ordered two plates of food and it filled the whole table. Overall it was nothing special. The only good thing was the chicken cutlets. I will say that the place was pretty and instagram worthy.
Vivian Yeh
Food is surprisingly good! Unlike other cute restaurants thats only good at taking pictures 😂 this is so far one of my favorite place for lunch. Just had hotpot and it was full of ingredients inside! 😍 definitely the place to go if you would like to have your own hot pot in winter. And omg the souffle! Super soft and tender, along with the sauce on top which completes it perfectly! Gonna try out other flavors next time

⁣Taste: 🌕🌕🌗🌑🌑⁣<br/>Interior Deco: 🌕🌕🌕🌑🌑⁣<br/>Customer service: 🌕🌕🌕🌗🌑⁣<br/>Recommend: 🌕🌕🌗🌑🌑⁣<br/>—————————————————⁣<br/>𝐓𝐀𝐒𝐓𝐄: Went there for the mini hot pot, unfortunately, it was a disappointment. First of all, soup base is the most important element for a hot pot but the 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐩 𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐞 & 𝐒𝐨𝐲𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐤 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐩 𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐞 were plain and weird, even supermarket soup bases are more flavourful and nicer than these. Secondly, the Taiwanese sausage fried rice is too oily for me but my Taiwanese friend liked it. (She also mentioned that none of the dishes we tried today tasted authentic except from this). Lastly, the Taiwanese fried chicken doesn’t really have a signature salty flavour to it and wasn’t crispy enough🙅‍♀️⁣Personally wouldn’t come back for food but maybe will give a chance for the drink? Should I?<br/>—————————————————⁣<br/>𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐈𝐎𝐑: Despite many people likes it and think it’s an “insta-worthy” place but I actually found it looking kinda cheap esp with those hexagon decorations on the walls.😓 My type of interior aesthetic is like those in Amano. Everyone have their own taste & if u are into these type of aesthetics then it would be a perfect place for u try out’
Hungry Bear🐻
The beef noodle soup is highly recommended! Last time I ordered the tomato beef noodle soup and enjoyed it even more. The 3 cups chicken was a bit disappointing though.

good and yummy food. Average customer service. Love the environment and interior designing its a very cute and comfortable place to relax especially with friends

Love the ambience here!! Great place for instagram photos. Had the original plant milk tea - a very tasty abd creamy milk tea topped with oreo crumbs.<br/><br/>Returned on the very same day to try the beef premium mini hot pot. We chose the chinese herbal soup base, but I found the soup to be quite salty. Would recommend the tea more.

Such a cute place! Very busy but service was quick and friendly. I tried the Lychee Green Tea and added the Jasmine Jelly today and it was really good! They didn’t ask for sugar level but the fruit tea is not sweet which is how I like it! Love the cute decorations in the store! Must try their mini hot pot next time
Eunice Xuan
Very nice environment. Like the new dessert and grapefruit four season. Will come back to try the new hotpot next time. Nice place to chill and for fast food

I couldn't say that i liked the three cup chicken. But the pearl milk tea was pretty good. I will come back another time to try something else.

Food is awesome. Good quality and decent size. I couldn't finish the mini hot pot so I decided to take away the rest of it and it made up to a full bowl! And it only costed me 16.8. Cant believe I can find such a cheap place in city. Service is very gentle and nice. The desset is a Must-have. It got different flavors but I love them all!

Live for the boba! <br/>Not only is this Aucklands newest ‘instagrammable cafe’ but their teas are sooooo good! You can also grab snacks or pancakes.<br/>Taro milk tea *****<br/>Milk tea original *** <br/>Atmosphere *****

This place is sooo pretty😍😍! I haven’t tried the tea or desserts yet but I will be returning for it. The staff are lovely and food was delivered promptly. I ordered fried chicken with rice and that’s exactly what I got. The chicken was fried but not greasy which was good. The sauce on side complimented it. Good flavours.
Jeroen Wang
Food here is good the drinks taste good too. Nice environment inside and the staff seem really hospitable. Drinks are a bit on the pricey side but they're worth it, especially the fruit teas.

I wanted to update my review since this place has become one of my favourites. You can still read the original review below. <br/><br/>General: Firstly the location is really good so I usually come here for lunch or dinner if I'm at uni. They have a good amount of seating although it can fill up fast on some nights. I like that they have free wifi so sometimes I sit here for a while and study if they're not too busy.<br/> Their prices for food are cheap-average and milk tea is average for most tea shops nowadays but a bit pricier than Gongcha. <br/><br/>Food: I haven't tried too many more of their fried foods since the chicken cutlets I tried the first time were mediocre but I haven't been disappointed with their noodle dishes. Love the Beef Noodle Soup and the Wonton Soup with the tomato base. Since the first review, they've added a lot of things to <br/>their menu, including the hot pot which everyone else always seems to order but I haven't tried yet.<br/><br/>Tea: Still good. I still like the Matcha Plant Milk Tea that I recommended above, but I also really like their Brulee Milk Tea too. They torch the top of the foam so you get a nice burnt sugar taste. If you don't like the milk, the Kumquat Lemon with agar pearls is also really good and not too pricey.<br/><br/>Service: Service most of the time is really good but there's been a couple times where the staff were unfriendly. Food comes out pretty fast even when it's busy.<br/><br/>Overall a really nice place to hang out and they have some good food and drinks. Definitely a high recommendation.<br/><br/>---<br/><br/> This is a fairly new bubble tea place but I’ve come here a lot since they opened. I’ve only tried their food twice but I am always ordering their Matcha Plant Milk Tea. It’s matcha milk tea with milk foam and oreo crumbs on top, as well as a mint leaf. Pearls are extra, unfortunately. I don’t like overly sweet drinks and this drink is perfect for me without having to make an sugar level adjustments. <br/><br/>I’ve found most of the food that I’ve tried kinda average which is why they only get a 4/5. I got the Curry Chicken Cutlet on rice and it was okay but I’ve definitely had better. One of my friends got the Chicken Cutlet with Noodles, which had a kinda bland soup but I think it would good and wholesome if you’re sick. One of my other friends got the Beef Noodle Soup and this was delicious, probably the only thing I would try again. I do have to say the portion sizes are quite big and the price is decent. <br/><br/>Service is usually really good and quick, and of course the place is super Instagram friendly. Overall I’d highly recommend their tea menu but I’m still conflicted about their food.
Ronagrail Totanes
I tried the plant taro milk tea. It was really good. We just had to wait for 10 mins for the pearls to be ready which was not a problem. The staff were really nice and friendly. I wish they had some vegetarian meals as well.
Louise
Pretty nice place to come for lunch as a uni student and the decor in the store is very nice (very Instagram friendly). <br/>I came here 2 weeks ago with some of my friends, I got the Lychee Black tea and asked for less sugar, the tea itself tasted very nice. However, I noticed that it was definitely a lot sweeter than Lychee black tea from any other tea store I've had, and then I noticed that the sticker on the drink said 100% sugar. Possibly just a new shop assistant that may have misheard me when I said less sugar but wasn't something worth chasing up about.<br/>The portion sizes here are quite big, especially the rice dishes. I recommend the Taiwanese Sausage rice, which was very nice. It was a little undersalted but overall still enjoyable. <br/><br/>Taste: 3/5<br/>Decor: 4.5/5<br/>Service: 3/5
Kirsten
Newly opened bubble tea store that has wonderful decor and appeals to young people. Tried their pearl mill tea and Jasmine Milk Tea. Their staff members have told me they put less syrup in their milk teas compared to other stores. I took a few sips and you could really taste the tea. I recommend 25% sugar and no ice. I have yet to try their food!

Tastea Alley is quite newly opened and very aesthetically pleasing, decorated with pastel pinks and blues and neon lights. I thought it was going to be another tea shop but they also do Taiwanese style food. <br/><br/>I ordered a lemon black tea, 50% sugar which was just the perfect sweetness and the beef noodles. <br/><br/>I highly recommend the noodles! The soup was so good and just the right amount of spicy. <br/><br/>Would definitely go back.

Newly opened bubble milktea store in CBD. Every corner of this cafe is so instagrammable. Unlike other milk tea store, they sell rice dish and snack too. We had brown sugar milk tea and original milk tea. Brown sugar milk tea tasted like a normal milk tea, we can’t really taste brown sugar, and the original milk tea was quite bland. Maybe we will come and give it another try someday to see if its going to be better
Clarice Natasha
I came across this place thinking it’s just another milk tea store, but I was intrigued when I saw their food menu and thought to give it a try.<br/>It was the best decision that I’ve ever made. Not only they can be categorised as cheap for their portion, but they also tasted amazing! I didn’t expect it to be that great to be honest, but it exceed my expectation!<br/>I ordered the Deep Fried Porkchop, which I highly recommend. Curry with Fried Chicken, asian curry id the best curry and theirs taste bomb. Also, Beef noodle soup, their meat literally melts in your mouth.<br/>Overall I was very satisfied with the food, and they also have very aesthetic ambience. Their milk tea is also not that bad!
Ube
We enjoyed the squid balls and takoyaki here. However it was pricy for the quantity (6 small balls for each item) you get. Nice decor and a good place to catch up with a friend or study.
Donna
That's a new tea shop in City CBD. Came in for some drinks, and I was very impressed with their deco. Their service was fast, probably waited for 5 mins to get our drinks. The taste was fresh and good. For oolong tea, better to get a bit of sugar in it rather than 25%. I will defo come for food next time.
Rosanne Choy
Came in for a drink with friends after our morning lecture. Tried the grapefruit and the passionfruit green tea. Both were refreshing and tasted like most of the actual fruit was used when making it. Didn't taste much artificial flavouring which was good. Loved the environment. Cute quotes on the wall. Great place to chill after lectures.
Lena X
Beautiful stunning shop. Everywhere has a nice romancy vibe and you can take great pictures there. There's lots of tables and art, and even a ball pit you can sit at. But the wait for you tea is very very long. I waited maybe 20 minutes for my tea, although understandably it was quite packed.
Tanz
Love the space and decorations! Brûlée tea - the milk foam with burnt sugar was so yum but when you mixed/drank all together it wasn’t that tasty like milk foam itself. Original bubble tea was alright - good tea taste, alright pearls. The sugar level of this shop is really different from other tea shops and the girl advised me about it - we ordered 75% sugar and it was like 25% from most shops.
Emily
A new bubble tea cafe in CBD. The actual cafe is so pretty and so good for photos! They have good lighting and pretty pastel colours.<br/><br/>What also caught my eye was that they serve food! The food sounded really good but i didn't end up ordering any.<br/><br/>I got the rose plant milk tea. It was buy 1 get original pearl free. I got 50% sugar for both and my friend got 0% sugar for hers. I just want to point out that Tastea actually listens and gave us exactly the amount that we asked for- finally a bubble tea place I can trust with sugar levels.<br/><br/>The drinks were kind of creamy (or it might just be because of the layer of white thing on top which by the way is delicious) and I liked the flavouring.<br/><br/>The downside was that my drink took a while to come. About 20 minutes but they were busy as it's new.<br/><br/>Overall, good. I will come back again some time to try their food too :)
J Eats
Got the beef and three spices chicken on rice. Reasonable prices but I guess you get what you pay for. Heard the noodles are better. Got the roasted milk tea which we enjoyed quite a bit.
LuNa The TuNa
Another new milk tea shop in town. Today got buy one get one free, 7nzd for two cups of milk tea, not bad. Waiting time too long, but their decor pretty ins style. So girls can taking selfie while waiting. Service 3/5. No smile at all, can understand they are pretty busy, but i thought smile is the basic polite customer service.

Nice place to catch up with friends after work whenever you feel lie bubble tea with some snacks. I really love the decor, very youthful & cute. Will definitely come back!

Yes! Finally found a place where they sell pretty decent Taiwanese food. Flavour authenticity is about a 3.5/5 - so not too shabby. However, if we are just talking about the taste alone, then it definitely deserves a higher rating. This place is not only easy on the wallet but it’s an eye candy for sure 😍 All y’all instagram foodies need to come here for a quick photo shoot!! Waitresses were friendly and smiley 😊 Music playlist was nostalgic 😌 Everything was great, and again, if only the food tasted more like home then it would deserve all 5 stars.

Tried the Grapefruit Green Tea w Aloe and was so good especially on a hot day like today. <br/>Really refreshing and loved the sourness from the grapefruit but still nice and sweet! <br/>I’d definitely be back to try their food menu too :)
