Review Forage Cafe - Auckland Central

Geoff Wilson
Been eager to visit Forage for a very long time and finally got the chance to go during the week. It's a quaint and quiet little cafe that I learned the locals love to come to; saw more than a few people on their laptops, having business meetings, or just sitting back and reading the newspaper. The atmosphere fits the name in having overhanging tree branches, succulents on the tables, bird motifs, and organic / other related products on sale like oat milk. They still had a good amount of food options left in the glass cabinets even by like 1pm; best of all though was that beef burrito! Was amazing. Wife also said the lamb in the salad "was to die for". Koftas were also good little sharable meat snacks. I appreciate how their sign says they try to compost everything they can and that it's free range sourced meats. Definitely worth coming back for a bite and to chat with the friendly staff!

I had a nice breakfast here. Delicious coffee, and a bagel with avocado. Menu was a bit limited, but not a deal breaker. Not a ton of seating, but with one big communal table and some stool seating near at the window. Service was friendly and efficient.

I visit forage everyday almost as I work close by. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. The food is amazing and good for you! Coffee is 5 stars too. 10/10 would recommend this place!

A cozy little cafe in central Auckland, limited seatings, few outside seatings to enjoy morning sun with your pooch. Delicious food and coffee, very friendly staff. The koftas are very good, looks small but trust me these babies are thick and full of meat! My personal favorite is def the breakfast burrito. ❤️

Delicious fresh food, friendly service

Wonderful coffee shop with delightful staff. Zen like energy and fabulous offerings! Dominion's finest coffee shop!
Laura Noblejas
Outstanding food and service! They only source free range meat, eggs and milk. They compost all their green waste and recycle all they can. Won the supreme Award for the Albert - Eden Business Awards in 2016. The smoked chicken and peach pide is exceptional toasted. Go here you won't be disappointed. AND....Doughnuts! Tiramisu Doughnuts today! They change out the flavours and the Doughnuts are next level delicious. Be early, they sell out by 9-10am.

Love the vide of this beautiful cafe, Siza and Keita know exactly how to take care of the customer:) Lots of vegetarian options, The coffee is always perfect! and there is always something for everyone on the menu to enjoy.

Forage is a hidden gem. For what it lacks in signage it makes up for in great coffee, an extensive and reasonably priced selection of food, and a relaxed ambience. Easy and available P60 parking up the top end of Dominion Rd too. Just look for the Laundromat Open 7 days sign - it's right next door - but just Monday to Friday. Worth seeking out.

Awesome little local cafe that does special doughnuts every Wednesday. Each week sees a unique flavour! Come early for these, as they will sell out. This weeks flavour was Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough!

This place is a hidden gem.☕❤ Great food and coffee. Owners Siza& Keita are exceptional in customer service! Conscientious in their environmental friendly choices in their products. Selection of Vegetarian food available too. Not cheap but certainly quality & reasonable.

Best gluten free cheese scones in Auckland. Fantastic coffee and a cost atmosphere.

Loved the ambiance at this cafe, it was cosy and intimate and the owners were warm and friendly. I wouldn't of known this cafe existed on Dominion Road, if my friend hadn't invited me along. Great food, spoilt for choice, great coffee, tea, smoothie selection and the service is priceless! Overall I was well impressed with my first visit and look forward to taking family and friends there.

My favourite cafe in the Mt Eden, on second thoughts in the whole of Auckland. Wonderful Velvet coffee locally roasted, spectacular food with something for everyone, (but not great if you're gluten free). Staff are funny, hard working, attentive, remember your name and your coffee and make going there a joy. Would highly recommend if you want a scrumptious lunch.

Great coffee and amazing soups, go to spot if you are vegan or love soups as much as I do ❤️

I stumbled upon this cafe and was so impressed. The owner was really friendly and took the time to explain what she could make as most of the cabinet food was sold out. They also compost all their green food and recycle all they can. Will be back in for their coffee as we heard it is amazing. Definitely check Forage out!

OMG - Worked at the same place for 7 years - just down the road and I had never been! Didn't know what i have been missing - honestly one of the best "sandwiches" I have ever eaten. Ham and aged cheddar pide - go on do it - you won't regret it! Almost wish it wasn't Saturday tomorrow so I could go back.

My favorite cafe. Close to work and amazing delicious healthy food! I was very happy that the ladies were able to make dairy free food for me when there was none. Perfect! Oh and amazing soy latte!

Found Forage while waiting for my daughters at the Orthodontist. Had the spinach soup and long black coffee. Both superb. Great to find this hidden gem. Highly recommended.

The food here is impeccable. Some of the best coffee I've had in Auckland is from here.<br/><br/>The staff are always friendly.<br/><br/>Absolute favourite go-to cafe in the area. Possibly my favourite in all of Auckland, to be honest.

This is my local cafe at work and it is such a great place. Friendly, cozy and really good food. The owners of the business are such lovely people and they are always welcoming and so easy to talk to.  The coffee is also superb and they have a great range of quality food options to suit most peoples tastes. Highly recommended, call in sometime.

Very cool spot and just what this end on Dominion needed. Food quality is top notch and staff are professional and friendly. I have taken my team here a couple times for team lunches and will be back again soon.

So we heard through the grapevine that Forage Café on Dominion Road had been crowned supreme winner of the Albert-Eden Business Awards 2016. Upon arrival we were greeted by super-friendly staff and a palette of warm pastels, quaint décor of woodland creatures and a light fixture hanging off what looked like a foraged branch. Their cabinet was stacked full of yummy salads, pides and focaccia fingers… and they weren’t your typical watered-down greens either — each had a plethora of succulent ingredients and seasoned to perfection. We later learned that the ‘foragers' are advocates for animal welfare and sustainability by sourcing free-range ingredients and composting their green waste. We certainly need more environmentally-responsible businesses in this day and age; props to them!<br/>A fellow foodie and cafe manager Nigel had the Warm Lamb Rissoles on Asian slaw and a Flat white. He said "This is a great little sustainable café, whose owners care about the planet and the people around them. It is cabinet food only, but the cabinet looks great."<br/>Check out our individual food reviews here: husk.co.nz/lunches/forage

Best coffee in Mount Eden! A small but nice selection of cabinet cabinet food only. Great for lunch on the run. Though they make the most awesome cheese scones

This is a great place for breakfast or lunch.  Nice and bright environment and the same goes for the staff who are genuinely friendly.  The coffee is great and the food divine, sourced through organic providers.

Amazing food, bit pricey but satisfying! Good environmentally friendly practices from what I could see. Staff were friendly and interested in our environmentally friendly services too... That made lunch sweeter

Forage serves delicious healthy food every time I visit. If I worked nearby I'd go there most days of the week. The staff are friendly and the service is fast and attentive. 5/5!

Unfortunately didn't get a chance to try any of the food here - but the service was fantastic and welcoming and my coffee was perhaps the best I've had in Auckland. Smooth, delicious and most importantly, nice and HOT! (I find many cafes don't heat the milk for long enough resulting in a luke warm coffee)Good vibes, relaxed, music playing just loud enough...A little gem, definitely worth a visit.

[UPDATE] Was in the area today and wanted to grab a cold brew and lava cookie to go. Sadly they informed me they only do cold brews during the summer and the lava cookie has sold out =[. It's was so lovely that the staff remembered my sister and I even though it was a while ago since our last visit. They let us know that next week they will be introducing home made sodas to the menu and possibly cold brew if its warmer. We left with an almond croissant and Americano in hand. Both were good! This place never disappoints. Will update when we return for the sodas. <br/><br/>I drive past here a lot and I've been wanting to try this place for a while. Got the chance today while I waited for the mechanic to service my car. The signage says they close at 3pm but, when we arrived at quarter to, they didn't shoo us off or give us bad service. They were very welcoming. We got a cold brew coffee, flat white, steak & cheddar pie, and lava cookie/brownie (?). We have nothing to complain about. The flat white was smooth and well made. Cold brew is served with a hint of caramel. Its the perfect amount to take the bitterness away but not too much so that it covers the coffee taste. The pie was good! None of that minced up stew looking stuff. Steak was tender but still had texture. The cookie was awesome. It was like a brownie, soft cookie & fondant had made a baby. I couldn't resist and got a couple to take away. The stuff here are organic and home made so its a bonus!<br/><br/>We left a bit after 3 not wanting to hold them from closing. But as we left more people arrived and again they did not shoo them off but welcomed them. We talked to most of the staff while we were there and they were genuinely friendly. Would definitely recommend to everyone. Just be aware they don't open weekends, hopefully they might changed that. Would love to come for a Sunday brunch here.<br/><br/>Service: 5/5<br/>Food: 5/5<br/>Atmosphere: 5/5 (comfortable seating)<br/>Value for money: 4/5 (slightly exxy)

I came here recently to get some breakfast and wasn't disappointed. The food was out of this world - I had the steak and mushroom pie and it was absolutely amazing. As a bonus, this cafe also has the best coffee in Auckland. The cafe itself looks great, and the staff are really friendly. I can't recommend this place highly enough.

The most expensive coffee I had paid. $6.60 for my decaf soy flat white. (90 cent for soy and 90cent for decaf). Not a strong coffee .Never come back ...There are so many good cafes in Mt Eden.
Marjolein Drenth
Lovely staff! Popped in for a coffee: find it slightly overpriced and the coffee could have been a bit stronger. But I guess that is my own personal taste. Overall, it has a very nice atmosphere!
Samantha Lines
This cafe is near where I work and I watched as they prepped to open. I stopped in for a coffee this morning. Unfortunately I didn't have time to stop for breakfast but the coffee was amazing.<br/>I paid $4.80 for a large (it's a regular size elsewhere) takeaway flat white and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This is possibly the best coffee I've had in Auckland and I am fussy!<br/>I've already recommended this to all my co-workers and will definitely be making this a regular visit.
