Review Golden Fortune Chinese - Auckland Central

Always busy and full house restaurant. Famous with their reasonable price of lobster ($158 today). Even my North Shore's friends came to here, to have their famous lobster! But be prepared for the loudness of the busy restaurant. Everyone chatting loudly.

Usually come here for lobster wilt the hand pulled Yi Mee. They serve a variety of seafood and meat dishes. The food is is ok but I find the flavours more Europeanised. The Peking Duck here has a lot of meat (I prefer just the crispy skin) but they do have a second course of the fried duck bones which is salty and tasty. The place is usually busy during dinner so reserving a table is recommended.

Busy place on weekend night but service was great. Good place for quick Chinese meals.

Good quick and easy Yum Cha restaurant for all the usual favourites.

Really nice people, the duck was delicious!! Definitely recommend. Easy parking for a Friday night.

Excellent duck! Good Service!

Love their Peking duck, crispy skin, duck meat is always tender and juicy...price is reasonable. Good serving..

Classic Chinese restaurant with all your favorites. Prices are better than most places but the quality is just as good or even better. Peking duck, sweet and sour pork and sizzling beef are our favorites but their other dishes are really good too!

Great portion sizes, recommend the mapo tofu and the Yang chow!

Have the BBQ duck. It's amazing . We always order the whole duck as it's better value for money and keeps well so you can have leftovers. That's all I have tried from here as it was recommended by a friend . If the rest of the menu is cooked as well then it would be worth a try

We went for dinner and the restaurant wasn't very busy (maybe 3 other tables), but we had to wait over half an hour for 2 dishes. One of the dishes had choy sum which we could tell was quite old; it didn't break apart even after chewing for a long time.

They also charge for seats ($1 per person).

Won't be coming back.

Was a little disappointed that we had to ask for service, then drinks had to be asked for a second time. Food was fresh at least.

Last time I came to this restaurant with my friends. I do like the BBQ duck which is tasted crispy and delicious. Warm service is provided. I will try more cuisine next time.

We went there with family and friends in a group of 7. Some of us are elderly people and would not be able to have heavy meal. So we decided to order 5 dishes which included fish, chicken, prawn, vegetables and bean soup curd. The waitress who served us (the older one) was not happy . She kept saying that we needed another dish and forcefully asked us to order another dish. We ended up with 6 which we were not able to finish. The restaurant was under staff the whole night with only 2 people serving . The taste was average. There was even a fry flying around during our dinner which was disgusting. Compliment goes to the other (younger) waitress who was able to work around the tables with a smile.

I love their lobster so much. Big portion and reasonable price. Their staffs were very friendly. We had birthday dinner here, everybody were happy with these delicious dishes.

Deco is nice and bright so makes dinner Ng more comfortable. Took a while to place our order as they seemed to have only one person taking order while others were tasked with doing other things. Anyway, food came pretty fast and tasted fine. Not bad but just no wow factor. Portion was decent too. Staff were friendly so we wouldn’t mind coming back if we are around this area in the future.

Chanced upon this restaurant when the other duck place was full. We were seated at a cramped area and not much space to move around despite the place being half empty. Food not good and too oily. Not coming back.

Good Cantonese food.

I got a bit tipsy. So had the munchies and the food tasted good. I didn’t pay for the meal so that gives it extra points too which is a little bias.

Anyways overall a good experience, good tasting food. I’m sure most will enjoy.

Will be back again for big dinners in the future.

Service: 4/5
Food Quality: 4/5
Food Quantity: 4/5
Presentation: 4/5
Environment: 3.5/5
Price per person: $20-$30

The most terrible service I have ever seen. $2 charge for water, so many surcharge without pre- inform. There are so many other options could replace this restaurant, most horrible experience ever.

We had fried rice noodles with beef, fried noodles with pork, braised noodles & roasted duck on rice for lunch. Food was good for value, but bland & uninteresting. Just as any of the Chinese restaurants in Highland Park, Somerville & eastern Auckland, quality is the main issue. (Food - 2/5; Service - 2.5/5; Ambience - 3/5)

Should be called Golden 'mis'Fortune. I would recommend trying elsewhere. Lets start with a positive, staff were nice enough (nothing exceptional) and it went downhill from there. Terrible seats in an empty restaurant (by the door crammed by stacked furniture), mediocre 'special chinese' soup = flavourless broth with overcooked veges, cold crispy pork, average'ish' peking duck, jellyfish salad (entree came after mains) was OK but I know where I can get better, hot pot pork again no flavour. One more positive - generous portions - but I would sooner have tasty than lots. So won't be going back. Ah well.

We go here quite often and enjoy it every time!
A wide variety of tasty dim sum dishes, something to satisfy any kind of taste buds~
There are always a few carts going around at any one time so you never have to wait for too long for the food to come around, except if you go very early or very late.
Atmosphere is great, service could be better. Price is okay, has increased over the years.

I ordered fried rice with beef and my husband has duck and rice. A good generous sized meal. The staff were attentive and the ambiance was nice. Would love to visit again and try out other dishes.

My friend wanted Peking duck and that is what she got. She loved it. Sichuan beef, black pepper lamb and beef and vegetables. All delicious, all with good service. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the hmm of a busy restaurant. Will return.

Just had dinner here for Chinese New Year. The food was terrible. The so call shark fin soup was not hot, only slightly warm and looks like a gluey paste. The chicken was literally 'ice cold', as I see the staff just taking it out from the fridge and removing the glad wrap on it. When I was leaving I was many table had many left overs and many dishes rarely touched. I guess most people there that night felt the same way as I did. Overall the dinner was a disappointment.

Great place to eat!! The staff there are really nice and the food arrives pretty fast. The staff gives good advice on what food to order to eat😋
