Review Kings Restaurant - Auckland Central

It says "emperor's soup" in Chinese so soup is the must to order. With plenty of selection of Cantonese foods and deserts you can have it all in one meal. Very light flavor, I bet it's pretty good for body healing. Great location besides Royal oak mall, easy parking.

Authentic home cooked Chinese food. We couldn't figure out what region it came from - it was mostly steamed - but quite an interesting - and affordable - experience.

The food was pretty good here though I probably wouldn't go so far as to say it was amazing. You get good value for your money so it's definitely worth a try.

The wonton soup was delicious and deep fried wonton crispy. Fast service.

We tried this place for the first time a few nights ago. We were greeted and asked how many people in our party, we said 3. Only then to be asked just to look at the menu and decide if we wanted to eat here. The lady (with the glasses) who greeted us was also pushy, not giving us a seat to any table and kept saying in a rude manner to just look at the menu, which I thought was abit rude and my partner thought so too. But other than that minor let down I thought the food was yum. I tried the braised pork on rice and steamed veges. So 4 stars overall.

As a tourist looking for easy, fast, delicious food, I'm glad I stopped here. I had the soy chicken and honey pork with rice, and mango pudding and was very happy with both for under $25, and both delicious. Fast and friendly service too.

Very delicious, famous for soups

Great Hong Kong (and Chinese) food. Lots of varieties to suit all budgets ($10 meals, $16-30 mains, etc) and good portion. Nice soup (but pricey) and HK style desserts are available. Really must try in this area. Will go back again since we are living around here.

Yummy. But too much rice and meat.

Braised pork was amazing, service excellent, what more could you want!

This restaurant specialises in clay pot rice. I enjoyed the rich, fatty dried duck on rice.

Authentic dishes. My favorite is the dried Pork, sweet and juicy.

Yummy soup, sweet or savoury. Reasonable prices as well.

Food is good and reasonable but seating is limited

Totally baffled and speechless because of the quality of the food here. The soup was flavourless and very dark almost black with unidentifiable “meat and vegetables”. The smell was also foul. It came on a pot wrapped in plastic and they unwrapped the plastic in front of us in the table. It seemed like the soup was already made beforehand, stocked for however long, microwaved, then was served to us. The pots used to serve also seemed dirty and the “pork spare ribs” were mostly bones.

On the other hand, the customer service was ok. Although we will never come back to this restaurant again

Came for dinner and ordered soup and bun h of steamed stuff.
Claypots were decent but you can't really go wrong with it.
The stir-fry chicken was pretty good.
Their soup have gone downhill though. Not that flavourful this time.

Have been there a few times and the food is average. Last time, I am not hungry so just I ordered Stew white fungus with pear and it tastes totally disgusting. Tastes like expired nuts in it. Will never go there again.

Lovely Cantonese restaurant. Great for kids, fresh ingredients as always. Place is tiny but cozy, will defiantly be back for their steamed food :)

It was great! Luckily there is photo menu. I had chicken and mushroom on sticky rice, beef with noodles(?) it was yummy. I had sprite as well as it was bit oily for me. But i would like to have the same thing again here. Kind staff

Came in for lunch today with dad. Ordered an ox tongue on rice and green bean barley tea that the boss recommended. The drink was sweeter than I thought it would be. Size of drink was appropriate for its price ($5). Rice itself felt kind of mushy. Choy that was placed underneath the ox tongue had lots of flavour and tasted delicious because of the sauce from the meat.

I love the dessert soup here so much, it's yum and delicate. Environment nice and clean. Owner always friendly and helpful. If you feel sick just order a chicken soup delivery, that's pretty awesome.

Silly me, was originally gonna dine at nearby Happy cafe but accidentally came here instead.
So had the seafood congee and of cause the usual steak hofun. was ok but was mainly half/half mung bean sprouts n rice noodles ratio, see pic. Never mind still glad I came here.

Forever driving past this restaurant, even when it was called Tang’s Soup Cafe (same name in Chinese, but changed to King’s Restaurant now) - I finally tried it & it’s great! Authentic home-y Cantonese style food! Congee with preserved egg and pork mince was alright, a bit under seasoned and not enough preserved egg (for me) but the right consistency!

The 臘腸 (Chinese sausage) on rice wasn’t too bad, the meal tasted under seasoned to me, but the meat added flavour when eaten together ! Try mixing it around and asking for some chilli if you enjoy a bit of a kick with your meal.

My friends got the mix of 臘腸 and 臘肉 (cured pork belly) and a mixed meat/vegetable combo in lotus leaf.

well you get more than you bargain for here, really liked the food here and its very cheap!!! i had the roast duck on rice and shared BBQ Pork as a side, both under $20 in total. Definitely will be visiting this place again!

Everytime when I got really sick and want to have healthy tasty food I come here. I order a soup, a lottus leaf dish and a dessert soup if my stomach has the space. I have to say I felt a lot better after eating there. Really good for body, mind, soul. It should b 4 stars but I gave 3.5 because it is not that cheap compare to other Chinese resturant. Easily can go to 35+ ppl.

Ok I have since had changed my review. If you go by your self in the evening they will only give you take away or assume. The reasoning I believe was that they do not want one person filling up a 2 person seat even though there were spare around. That kinda pissed me off.

Nice sago mango pudding. Soup was great but a little over priced compared to other places. Saying that I think its a good combination between price and taste compared to other soup places in Auckland. Its probably my new goto place.

My best favorite dish there is steamed meat and rice with Lotus leaf. Smell was very nice. Fair price with friendly service. A good place for grabbing meals with low budgets.

I tried this restaurant out as it looks authentic Chinese. It was 9:30pm and the restaurant was open for takeaway (you can dine in as well). The restaurant was clean, tidy and well decorated. The kind lady advised I might not like a particular dish (I'm Kiwi) but it was all delicious.

Went here for lunch because it is starting to get a bit of a rep amongst Chinese people. The Chinese name actually means the Emperor's Soup, as emperors back in the day had many types of soups and stews. As a result, the specialty of Kings Restaurant is the soup. They have a lot of soup, but because there were so many and many I haven't tried before I didn't get any because I was scared. Next time haha!

I got large a pork belly with shrimp paste in tossed noodles for $13 which was quite good for the price. The noodles were tasty and a lot of meat, although it was a bit too salty for me. Since it was pork belly, the meat was made up of a lot of fat. We also got a soup noodle with beef brisket that was a lot less seasoned than mine but was better when you added vinegar, which is on the tables. It was only $10, and I think that it was worth the price, although there was not much difference between a large bowl (mine) and the regular smaller size which is cheaper. It's very affordable and tasty, and the seats are very cute. Service is bubbly and cheerful, and attentive. A lot of people ordered the soup though, so it must be very good.

Wouldn't mind coming back here again!
