It's usually a quiet place to eat. They also do take away ... food was nice and cooked very fast. Just remember to ring the little bell on the counter to get their attention when u enter in there in case they are busy cooking in the inner kitchen. The stir fried pork was very yummy...

What a delight to find amazing food so close to where we stayed. The crispy chicken in sweet and sour sause was the best I have tasted in a long time. The rice was perfectly cooked and there was a beautiful amount of kick to the dish. We will eat here everytime we come to Auckland. Love it.

I went to this restaurant today with a friend and was pleasantly surprised. This restaurant is a hidden gem and we were pleasantly surprised by how great the food was. I've had minced chicken and corn soup before but this was by far the best I've had. The size of the soup was enough for 4 servings. I ordered sweet and sour pork with rice and could tell right away the chicken had been marinated - as in they took time to cook that bad boy, which is why I was even more amazed that the wait time was so short. I can't remember what my friend ordered but essentially it was pork, potatoes, and rice. We sampled each others food and ended up going for seconds from each others share hahahah. Nah man, I had to write a solid review to big-up this place. My friend and I definitely plan on returning with more friends!

Went to eat with friends today. We ordered spicy fish and pork fried rice. The portion is very generous and the price is cheap. Would go again.

I go here when I get really lazy to cook. Pretty homely meals - I’ve tried their dumplings, fried rice, and fried noodles from here. Dumplings and the noodles are pretty decent, but the fried rice is always quite bland for some reason.

****DO NOT GO HERE**** <br/><br/>WOULD RATE ZERO IF I COULD. Myself and a friend ordered a chicken fried rice and dumplings dish, we were both up in the middle of the night vomiting and were very unwell for the next two days. No wonder the prices are cheap since you get FOOD POISIONING. Will never be going back and highly recommend nobody else does!!!

Horrible customer service, food is pretty average. The girl on a phone is always rude and hardly telling you even a few words. <br/>However we were trying to order sweet and sour chicken or fish since April!!! And they always tell you we don't have it at the moment... well I guess "moment" doesn't take half of the year.... otherwise change your menu and staff

Food is pretty good, however, the customer service is terrible and is bad enough for us to decide to order elsewhere in the future. The girl who answers the phone for delivery orders is always very short and rude. The last time we ordered she hung up on me before I was able to confirm the expected delivery time. When I called back to confirm the expected delivery time and was quoted another 20-30 min after it had already been 20 min, I indicated that this seemed like a long time and she said, "We can't serve you raw food, can we?".

Unless you run out options, I suggest you to avoid taking away or asking for deliveries. After two hours placing the order, my cold food has finally arrived, and it tastes like leftovers.

the food tasted not so good not so bad. The service though was bad. They did not offer mi tea or water because most chinese restaurant will offer you at least tea or soup. The meat ratio to vegies are opposite which means there was more vegies than the meat which is bad. The food was expensive for vegie meal. The food was named chicken so I had no clue it was vegie

Hobson Express is a lovely little shop to pop into if you want a homey meal. I'm a sucker for their Crispy Chicken with Chilli Sauce on rice, BEAUTIFUL combination, just as delicious as their Crispy Chicken (half/whole), well seasoned with garlic and their fried rice of all flavours. I use to work a few doors down from Hobson Express a couple years ago and I sometimes miss visiting this place on my lunch hour. Great place to eat!

Worst customer service ever, the girl at the counter didn't hesitate to answer her cellphone and make me wait for more than 5 minutes to place my order... <br/><br/>And if you are lucky enough to place an order they talk to you without any mark of courtesy or respect. It's almost like they are making you a favor and the customer should thank them for that... <br/><br/>The food was tasteless and the kitchen looks dirty. <br/><br/>And it's not just me, I'm not allowed to add links here but just google for "Hobson Express Dirty Dinning" and you'll see.<br/><br/>DO NOT RECOMMEND
