Review Tigerlily Dining - Auckland Central

Late dining for us after a late night show, therefore we were very surprised we got a table after we checked other places in mission bay only to be turned away because they were in the process of closing the kitchen. Service was very friendly, food and drinks arrived in no time. I had the duck salad which was a little too citrus for me but my wife's chicken dish the dumplings and the calamari was amazing, mixed with a couple of generous glasses of beer. What almost turned out to be a quick stop into McDonald's eventuated into an intimate night with good service and food.

Had a very nice meal, with lovely views, very good service, loved the decor, good space between tables, a perfect location for romantic dining and to chat with friends undisturbed.

With my first time visit here, I was pretty excited to try the food and it did not disappoint. Although the service was reasonably slow, the food tasted amazing! However because the food proportions were comparatively small one meal would not enough per person. Would definitely come back here to grab a bite during summer though! ✨

Great spot to dine pre movie. Delicious food, generous portions and the dumplings are a highlight. Nice outlook. Less busy than restaurants at street level.

Huge drop in quality when compared to Ruan Thai. We had a rude waitress who seemed totally uninterested and after a very long wait, we received bland, disappointing food. Avoid!

Was hoping for more, given the changes.. Having lived in Mission Bay and often visited Ruan Thai I was hoping for more but sadly it didn't happen. Very mediocre food - Thai Curry, Taco's etc.. Service was fine and view good etc. but was a let down and not up to the previous standards.

Decided to try Tiger Lily last night after realising that our much loved Ruan Thai was no longer there. 8pm on a Saturday night and the place was virtually empty.... not a good start, but we decided to give it a try anyway; new places take time to get going and my husband was optimistic we might find a new local gem.

Unfortunately this was definitely not the case. Firstly our waiter made a fuss about taking a drink order from us before we ordered food. Perhaps there's a licencing issue, but the way he dealt with it was not particularly welcoming. We assured him we'd be dining and continued to read our menus to see what was on offer. Our drinks did arrive eventually....once he'd been out the back to get permission!?

We found the menu was quite limited (unlike Ruan Thai's banquet offering of traditional and authentic Thai cuisine) and there was an odd mix of food on offer with nothing really jumping out as "pick me please"!! We decided with trepidation to pick a couple of simple starters; pork dumplings and lamb kebabs, surely they couldn't mess those up - with a view to then decide if we thought it was worth trying some main courses.

These 2 dishes both came out quickly and were presented nicely, but they were terribly bland with not a hint of the fresh and exciting flavours you normally associate with Asian food. We decided we'd call it a night at this, feeling relieved we'd had the forethought to wait before ordering further dishes.

Our waiter then returned hoping to take our order for mains and we told him we'd leave it at that. He than tried to telll us it was the rule to order main courses with alcohol....if he'd wanted to make us feel any less welcome, he certainly succeeded at that point! We paid for what we'd had and left and definitely don't plan a return visit. A real shame as the interior of Tiger Liliy has been done in a fun and interesting way with birdcage light fittings and bright patterned fabrics. But when there are so many restaurants around these days offering really great Asian and Asian Fusion food, this place has sadly missed the mark!!!

I came here today for lunch, the place was empty but despite this we decided to give it a go and we were pleasantly surprised! I think this restaurant may be the first/only Asian fusion place in mission bay.

We took a seat right by the window overlooking the beach. Service could have been better. The waitress topped our water up regularly, however we waited a while to get our orders taken and our plates were never cleared after we finished eating.

We ordered the chicken wings and Thai beef salad to share. The chicken wings were great! Marinated in honey soy and topped with cashews. The chicken was quite crispy on the outside and still tender. The Thai beef salad was very flavourful and the beef was cooked to perfection, so soft! However it wasn't really a 'salad' there was so much meat and barely any leafy greens or vegetables in it which was a bit disappointing.

Hopefully their service improves! I would definately come back to try more on the menu.

Decided to dine here after noticing that this is a new establishment along Mission Bay!

After loving Ruan Thai after many years, I was curious to see if this packs up to my love for Ruan Thai.

Beautifully decorated interior, I love the flamingo couches and fruit cushions! Love the wooden vibe ~ the staff are still as friendly and advised of the revamp to Ruan Thai to now Tiger Lily. The menu has changed, and we picked udon fish boat ragu, braised duck, shrimp Indonesian mee goreng.

Now within the menu, the udon fish boat ragu. . There is enoki mushrooms however when we got the dish, as lovely as it was. . There is no enoki mushroom, I even asked the waiter and he advised hidden underneath the udon. . Still nothing so I was disappointed. Lovely broth and an abundance of seafood ranging from crab, fish etc and udon. Great dish but wished there was enoki mushrooms in it. .

The braised duck was good. Similar to the effect of the Chinese dish Peking duck, where you wrap the meat in a pancake and eat it. Lovely flavours and generous servings. Lastly we ordered the shrimp Indonesian mee goreng, in all honesty, it was the dud of the night, the shrimp was well cooked and but the flavours just did not go together well. It did not resemble mee goreng for me, and was very tomatoey so felt more like a pasta.

Overall, I won't be in a rush to come back, but I would still consider this a place to hit up along Mission bay ~

Lovely location but really disappointing that it replaced authentic Thai restaurant with this. Staff are very friendly but food selection is poor and too expensive for quality that came to us. Sticky fingers pork was sort of worth it but squid entree and dumplings were average and Thai beef salad was inedible to say at least.

Loving the new look the place really needed a good makeover, The service is great, and food is lovely, however the menu is small and there isnt much variety.
