Review The Viaduct Grill - Auckland Central

Beautiful meal and the staff were super helpful. Location is great overlooking the Harbour and with the outdoor heaters going you can happy sit there and drink your 1 litter beers.

To start off with the the menus say $29.5 for both of the dishes though final bill for chicken was $29.5 but $31.50 for the lamb shank. Just thought that was a bit weird.

So when the dishes arrived the, the menu description wasn’t what we received on the plate, the menu for the chicken said that it came with a purée and jus. It came with chicken that practically came with the liquid it was probably cooked in, with boiled veges on the side and roast potatoes. - it was something just not worth paying that much for it can easily be a dish that can be made at home with a much better taste. Not really a speciality of the restaurant.

The lamb shank came dry no sauce but again just liquid drizzled around it and boiled veges. - just not up to a restaurant standard at all.

It’s not somewhere I will go again. Food quality is not there and prices do not match the quality you get. - personally I could make those things at home and a much higher standard. - midnight cafe express are the best for lamb shanks for any of you who are out to eat top notch lamb shanks. - also awesome chicken dishes - to that point where they make so much effort in their salads that they give with the dishes. - just think the two restaurants are more likely worth comparing because they both sell same type of dishes and have similar pricing.

I was looking for a good steak place which is both economical and the one that will keep the taste buds happy
Chose this place over another one and I'm super happy about it
Got my steak cooked blue and it was mind-blowing
Crew around here were very much welcoming and friendly
Strongly recommend this place!

A not very good experience. It was a special occasion for my wife and I and we settled on The Viaduct Grill to have our meal last Saturday. My wife ordered garlic bread as a starter and it came out burnt, when asked if all was OK we told the waitress it was burnt and she did nothing, a shrug the shoulders. The mains came out, my steak was average to OK nothing to write home about, nothing startling. My wife's chicken was meant to have a jus according to the menu when approached by the waitress if all was OK we enquired where the jus was, she left never to return. She waited on other tables but avoided ours. So we go to pay the bill at the lady on the till asked if everything was OK ...... so we told her. We were met with more shrugs of the shoulders. Note to The Viaduct Grill management - if you have your staff ask for feedback and that feedback is not good be prepared to do something about it and follow through or stop asking the question. So yes not a happy experience :( #disappointed

Great views of the Viaduct, the food was ok, wouldn't rush to go back when there are many great options at the Viaduct. We got a lunch deal though so the food was reasonably priced. Might be nice to go back for a drink by the water though.

Had lunch here today. Burger was fantastic and cooked to perfection. Service great and basically a lovely lunch. That was until the owner kicked off at the staff. What a nutter. Absolute raving lunatic and should be reported to WSH for harassment!

First time here, overall the place is good. The oysters were nice, garlic bread was good, the pork belly was average, tastes ok but man you guys need to work on your crackling. If you are going to go there very hungry I suggest don't go for the pork belly as the portion was quite small, the steak and lamb shanks were great. The desserts the apple crumble was very nice, the creme brulee was more of a custard. I would go back again.

Such a great location
We had snapper and angus.
The fish and angus was ok but the potato was not even cooked well(some was cooked), using old brown colored lettuce..
A glass of wine tasted like venigar..

Went for lunch on a not so busy Saturday. Service was nice. Went wife my wife and kido. They gave her a few kiddy stuff to play with so we could eat. Ordered Fish and Chips. Portions are good size but there was a strong fishy smell coming from the dish. However fish tasted ok nothing extra ordinary.

We came for the "Grab one" menu so can't vouch for the full menu. My sirloin cane beautifully cooked and was delicious with a peppery white crust which I haven't identified yet. My wife had the mixed seafood meal which although a great selection of fish, was overpowered by the spicy tomato based soup. We would definitely go back for a steak meal

Had a really great evening! Was really warm and accomodating. The service was also really good. Ordered the oysters and the seafood pot which came out well. Overall performed a lot better than i thought

Very slow service. Waited over an hour for our food. The chef cannot even cook poached eggs properly. Over cooked. Will not be going again. Not bad prices but overall too slow
With one staff member down the remaining crew did their best to keep up with the busy lunch time rush. Taking that into account, we had to wait quite a while for the food to arrive, but the general presentation, serving size and service was good. Plating resembled that of a roadside diner, but when you’re hungry it’s acceptable. We enjoyed the vibe and location.

This place is horrible. The service and quality of food was absolutely disgusting! The staff cannot even smile to their customers especially the guy in the counter. We are paying the food we barely even touched and yet they are giving us the worst customer service we could ever receive. Not to mention they are not apologetic that we had to wait 1 hour. 1 whole hour for our food to arrive! Would definitely not recommend this to anyone. And to whoever is planning to go, please do think it through. There’s a lot more restaurants that could provide better service and delicious meals.

The service was really friendly (especially compared with Portofino next door where they just ignored me because it's late & they don't want to serve another table). The portion size is also massive. However unfortunately my salt & pepper squid main was bland & really oily, which makes it difficult to enjoy.

Great seafood with excellent service.
The place was a buzz with people feasting on Huge Awesome looking Burgers or having what we had seafood plates. Cooked beautifully plump Green lip mussels and crisp prawns cooked in a tomato base.
The platter had fresh oysters with a large variety of seafood including smoked salmon, scallops prawns fish fillets Mussels and not pumped up with FRIES.

Came to dine here with my partner. As shown in the picture, the portion of the entree:squid and green vegetable are really tiny for 2 person to share. But the steak are beautifully cook although still quite a tiny piece. The dessert are average but it worth the value from grab one but I won’t come back here without the voucher as the the food are quite pricey for the portion of the food. But the staff are friendly and attentive even on a busy night 😊

Atmosphere: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Food: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Service: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The staff were very accommodating and friendly, appreciated it when they would come and check if everything was to our liking. I ordered the famous spiced crusted sirloin with peanuts, honey and chilli crust and I really enjoyed it. First bite it had a very smokey flavour but as I got into the steak I loved the flavour and it was cooked perfectly. Overall I enjoyed my experience.

We were surprised with the foods' amount of serving. We end up so full. The steak is not the best I had but it ain't bad though. I love the pork ribs as well since my friend made me try it. 😁 The staffs were also very keen to answer our questions with regards to the food & wine.

Good Afternoon,

We were a party of 10 at your restaurant on Saturday night. It was my daughter’s 13th birthday. The person who waited on our table managed to get the drinks confused. She brought us drinks we hadn’t ordered etc. Then after our main meal (which was divine. The food was great – no complaints there) she brought us the bill! I had to call her back and ask for the dessert menu, as we hadn’t been offered dessert yet. Then I followed her to the kitchen and asked if she could put a candle or sparkler or something in my daughter’s dessert as it was her birthday. She said they didn’t have anything. The man next to her (who works for you) said yes we can do that. Well… we never did get the candle in her dessert. As you can imagine our experience was not the best. I didn’t want to put a bad review on your website, so thought I would send you an email rather, but both email addresses you have on your website bounced back to me.

Caroline

Came to this restaurant to try the restaurant month's (August) $40 course meals around auckland. They advertised on both their Facebook page and urban list that they would provide a set menu 3 course meal for $40 (booking essential). To celebrate my boyfriend and I's 3 year anniversary, we made a reservation for this place. When we came to the restaurant we were not greeted promptly and pointed to a table. When we were given the standard menu, I asked for the $40 set menu that was advertised - thinking that this was no issue. For some reason, they were very hesitant to let us have the $40 set menus and kept us waiting 15min until we finally got the menus. Once ordered the food although the starters were very nice (we got the garlic bread and seafood chowder) - why I'm giving the extra 0.5 mark. The mains and dessert were not. My sirloin steak was COMPLETELY RAW (when I asked for medium rare). I couldn't eat it because it was basically tough bubblegum, so I just ate around the side of the steak. My boyfriends pork ribs were not worth the $$ either. The brownies we got for dessert honestly could have been some from countdown that were heated up in the microwaved before served. Apart from the view, I honestly think that this place was a big disappointment. Unfortunately will not be visiting this establishment again.

As if the dish presentation was not good enough, the Flame-grilled Sirloin was to die for! It literally melted in my mouth! The meat was super tender and juicy. The simplicity of the seasoning put on it made the dish a standout!

The Seafood Pot dish was another memorable dish. The huge prawns were so soft and perfectly cooked. The mussels and squid cuts complemented well with the overall taste. Winning dish!

ordered a steak and it was served warm - had to send back. mains took 40 minutes to arrrive. unpleasant experience. would not come back, maybe the lunch service would be better.

With the price they are charging, I would have expected the quality of food being served would be way better than we have experienced. The mussels were not fresh and has an awful smell and taste. We have advised the staff and she was quite apologetic. Mains were ok. Ice-creams were very icy and crunchy. Chocolate brownies were so dry they were not pleasant to eat. Cheesecake was a bit burnt on the edge. The place was not that busy when we were there but the time spent waiting for food to come was exceptionally long. They have great staffs and that's probably the only good thing about this place. Definitely would not come back again.
Marly Candles
Service was slow and $26 seafood pot consisted of 4 mussles 2 scallops and 3 prawns in tomato soup very disappointing would not come back here

Received a groupon voucher for the restaurant and decided to use it before it expired. The cost of petrol and parking was worth more than the final experience. What a joke. Not only were the staff extremely slow and unenthusiastic, the food was god awful. The salmon frittata was drier than the Sahara desert, the steak was burnt making it as tough as a boot and the chocolate brownie was simply a pig in lipstick. Thank goodness the only lighting was red light, it disguised the atrocity of a meal. As I was with someone who was heavily pregnant, we asked for a better table out of the wind as there were only six people at the restaurant. The response was they they were fully booked and awaiting the guests to arrive. Not only did no one further arrive they then proceeded to clean around us while we ate (mopping the floor). Don't waste your time or money!
Positives:
The female wait staff are friendly and helpful. They are accomodating letting us sit inside despite them cleaning up in that area. There is also free wifi. Whoever the boss is better keep them

Seafood chowder came fast and I liked it! Always a fan for this and it didn't disappoint. Plenty of seafood pieces in there

The missus liked her steak, the peanut and honey on top made it that much better but she wondered why bacon was added to this dish

Negatives
The mains took a long time to come out, from when we sat down it took at least 45 mins to come out

My seafood platter was mainly negative
The scallops tasted nice
The sauce that came with the mussels was good also
The prawns were ok
But the mussels and oysters were clinging to dear life to stay on there shells
The mussels tasted a little funny
Oysters weren't that fresh
The fish didn't taste nice

This seafood platter is really disappointing and the wait was ridiculous. Prices are a little higher than they should be. Despite the great service I doubt I will be back

Highly disappointing!
From reading the menu outside of the restaurant, you would think you are in for a treat... We were fooled!
Firstly, the service was seriously slow. It took 15 minutes just to get two beers to the table. (Staff were not busy as i was looking around and saw them fluffing about/ standing around) It took 40 minutes in the end for us to get our food which was then gone in 2.5 minutes as there was literally nothing on the plate!I ordered the Tuna salad. It literally came with 5 thin slices on Tuna on a HEAP of Cous lettuce and two slices of bell pepper - That's it.. what a joke! My partner ordered a pan-fried fish dish which was the most disappointing of the two meals. The size of the fish served was so little it only took him 5 mouthfuls and it came with 4 beans(2 cut in half) and a beetroot which was the size of a pebble. The fish was over cooked and tasted like tainted rubber. When our food arrived to the table, we were asked if we wanted more drinks, we replied yes, but these never ended up arriving. (We did not end up paying for these). The best part of our meal was the hot chips...We did not make a formal complaint whilst dining as we did not want to make a scene as a large quantity of guests had just arrived to the restaurant and at this point staff had their hands full. If we were to have been asked if our meals were/ was enjoyable, i would have spoken up at this point in time.I am writing this negative review as a warning for others. This place is not what it's set out to be.It became a very expensive outing for us as we were not fulfilled by our meals due to lack of food on our plates and had to seek further food from other outlets to be satisfied.

I'm surprised to see the rating of this restaurant. Went there a couple of days ago. Ordered a seafood pot and brownie for dessert. I have to say it was not cheap for what they offered. Food taste average. The service was great though. A German waiter served us and he was super friendly. All the best to rest of his trip in NZ!

We were staying in town, strolling the Viaduct looking for some lunch, and a couple of items on the menu at The Viaduct Grill tweaked our interest. The Viaduct Grill was a bit emptier than a number of the other restaurants, which made us hesitate momentarily (was the lower patron numbers an indication of the quality?), but we decided to give it a go anyway. I am glad we did as we had a great lunch. Both meals were wonderfully presented and totally scrumptious. I had the French Toast and this was simply gorgeous, with the fruit salad not only an excellent surprise, but the fruit nice and fresh. My partner had the Deluxe Chicken Sandwich and enjoyed his meal immensely too. The Viaduct Grill - a hidden gem.

Terrible steak I have ever had, too rubbery...
The salmon does not have any oil in, taste like wood...
Wait for too long till the dishes ready... Hope they can improve the speed of their services.

I would not suggest coming here compared to other cafes nearby:
Waiters seemed a bit slow and out of place
Food has been very basic
Atmosphere was not the best
Hygiene was not the finest

We decided to try this place as we hadn't dare before as the atmosphere seemed a bit gloomy.
Upon entrance we had waited a few minutes before being seated - was not a great beginning as staff had seemed a bit slow.
As we sat down, we had noticed immediately that the hygiene was not too superb. Perhaps it had been due to the lighting - however, there had been dust all over cutlery as well as the tables.
We ordered the Green Lipped Muscles, Chicken Bacon Sandwich deluxe and a latte. The sandwhich- had been very very plain. Presentation was not so very special and basic - seemingly that anyone could have made it. I would not suggest the Green Lipped Muscles. The broth it has came in was very soupy and bland - with a strong and overpowering taste of tomatoes. The muscles themselves weren't as fresh as they tasted with a "fishy" smell to them. It had been very chewy and not as light as fresh muscles would have tasted.
Altogether with the atmosphere being a bit gloomy contrasting the nature outside, relatively basic food and a few hygiene issues, it had not been the most enjoyable place to have lunch in the city.
This experience totalled $35.50.
Caroline Barrett
DON’T BOTHER!! An utter disappointment. I ordered the $35.50 half roasted duck but to be honest, it was more comparable to a rubber duck - it was completely uneatable! The duck was as hard as a rock …I couldn’t even cut it with my knife. I honestly feel as if the whole experience was a workout alone just trying to get the meat to come off the bone. I left the restaurant starving, pissed off and feeling robbed of my money. Absolutely disgusting that these guys are in business in such a prime location!

I came here for dinner with my boyfriend. We had made a reservation for 7pm, however they allowed us to dine slightly earlier. The staff was very friendly so I would like to give them high praises.

We came with a GrabOne voucher which entitled us a entree, a main and a dessert each.

All the meals we chose were exceptional, however, choices were very limited (there were only two-three to choose from in section)

Overall, great food and great service, just only slightly disappointed at the little choices for the meals.
William Adams
Great location. Service was good. Had to wait a little while for food. Presentation was nice enough. Food was good, nothing special though. Had a steak cooked excatly the way it was asked for (medium rare). Meal size was a little small, but still got value for money.
Rhegan Smith
I've been here twice and it's pretty consistent in its mediocrity, the steaks are a nice quality but it's a big gamble ordering one if you're picky about how it's cooked - The first time I went here I ordered medium rare and got rare and the second time it was closer to medium.

The service is nice enough, a little slow if anything. The location is its main selling point, sitting right on the viaduct a seat outside is primo.
Sofia Rask
Had over all a good night here. Got the grab on voucher. Entrée was delicious with prawn balls and wasabi mayo and main was ribeye steak. A bit to small portion but delicious. Desert, cheesecake. Can't go wrong with that! Yum. Only let down was that we got seated next to a really dirty, dusty plant that was hanging over the table. Not nice! OK place for a feed. Would not go here whiteout a voucher tho.
Dimitrios Konstantopoulos
Premium location, reasonable menu and just fine service.
We went for Christmas day dinner.
It was busy but the staff offered us complimentary drinks at the bar.
The steak was good, the seafood chowder so so and the garlic bread less than average.
The coffee was nice and strong the cheese cake OK.
Need improvements on hygiene and presentation.
Service was fine.
Prices are bit higher but the location is a winner
Hans Caspersz
Very nice rib eye steak and the best quality and value for money dish of mussels i have ever had. The service was really good but they charged for a bottle of table water without telling us.

After a great chat and catch up at The Station, my mate Alan and I headed to The Viaduct, a recently renovated section of Auckland right on the harbour. There are heaps of restaurants in the area with our ultimate choice landing at The Viaduct Grill. For me it was the ribs on the menu that grabbed my attention. Pork belly for Alan.
Dee
Lovely steak! Cooked just how I like it. Very tasty and i thoroughly enjoyed it. Cheesecake was nice too but I quite like to try the creme brulee next time. Lovely staff and we were looked after very well. Thank you.
Rebecca
Located in such a nice atmosphere, I thought this would be a great place for a romantic date night. With a $69 Grabone voucher, we arrived in a seemingly busy, buzzing environment. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive - all seemed well. That is, until I took a trip to the bathroom. It was what I would call, kind of scummy - there was a hole in the wall, possible mold(?) on the ceiling. I ordered the prawn tempura meatballs, steak and chocolate brownie. My boyfriend had the garlic mushroom, pork belly and cheesecake. I found the prawn tempura balls to be extremely average, but the garlic mushrooms were delicious and the sauce was very tasteful. The entrees came quickly, but the mains took a while. My steak was disappointing, tasting like the stuff I cook at home and the flavour was not as appealing as I had hoped. The potatoes were a little dry, but the one little tomato was full of flavour. My boyfriend commented that his mother made better pork belly. The brownie I had for dessert, though looking very appealing, was quite dry and needed a lot of cream to help it go down.

Overall, I found the atmosphere of the Viaduct Grill to be wonderful, same with the service, however, the food does not live up to this.
Miss T
Great location and attentive service. Serving sizes and taste of the dishes were average. Ordered the big breakfast and the sirloin steak. Mains start at $25

Grabbed a grab one voucher and used it last night. Wow it was one of the best grab one vouchers we have used. The steak was fab and we will defiantly be back. Would highly recommend it.

We ordered the snapper and ribs. Snapper arrived, lovely looking batter, but as it was cut open, the smell was revolting. Called the waiter over, James, who bent over to smell and pulled back from the pungent aroma. He offered not to charge us for the two snapper & chip orders!! We were shocked and requested him to atleast give us the other meal for free, ($22.90) but he was not interested. Said that the owner would not approve giving us a free meal, and James reminded us that he was not charging us for the snapper. I reminded the James, duty manager, that he had served to customers, snapper that had gone off and was not eaten. Very poor service, a shame on the viaduct, so close to fresh snapper...!
Mistar Kumar
Choose to come dinner here. The only thing great about this place is the atmosphere. I see people have ranked this eatery a 3, its not even worth that, just a 1. Food is very bad for what your paying for, you would get better tasting food from a takeaway shop. The lady tried to over charge us saying my wife had two drinks when she had 1. Just pathetic all around, the waitress was helpful thou.

Lured in while at the time being new to auckland and not knowing where the best eats were, we decided to try The Viaduct Grill. It looked nice enough but overall service was lacking and food was very mediocre. Kind of like dressed up pub food and very meh.

Lots of other eateries in the area worth trying, go somewhere more exciting unless you're feeling like a pub style meal.
Victoria
Came here as a group awhile back, it was fairly quiet when we arrived. A nice restaurant inside with Modern European menu however that's where it stopped. Service was pretty inattentive (not bad, but not great). We ordered a range of items from the menu, but everything was pretty average. The food just didn't live up to the atmosphere and location of the area.

One of our diners didn't even finish his main as it wasn't cooked to his liking. It wasn't a bad experience but we did walk away thinking, why hadn't chosen to eat at any of the other numerous options at the Viaduct? Doubt we will go back. Prices are steep for the quality.
Kerry Kirwan
Only had the seafood chowder which was pleasant and could have benefited from more variety of seafood and some fish. Went to order dessert and was told the kitchen was closed - it was about 9.15pm on a Saturday night. Yes it was a rainy night and quiet, but really? Waiter was efficient but disengaged.
Vicki Ko
My co-workers and I ended up coming here when the original restaurant we planned to go to wouldn't allow us in as we had someone under 18. The Viaduct Grill welcomed us and got us a table very quickly. The staff were super friendly and the service was quick. For entrees we had calamari, mussels and a bread and cheese board (forgot to take a photo). All of them were delicious especially the calamari! For mains I had steak with a mushroom gravy and dessert was creme brulee with a biscotti. Every thing was perfect and I could not have asked for a better night :)

Having given a rating of 4 to the foodstore and found a polished service and appealing food i'd rate vgrill as average. Biggest let down is the mediocrity of the kitchen. After such a gluey pork belly skin I had to go over and listen to see the ethnicity of the cooking staff. Service was great, staff were very helpful not pushy and overbearing. Note tho, 20% full the night I attended.
Now the food was using a grabone so there was a set menu options. Entrées were calamari I found these ok but my partner said the batter while light wasn't crispy and the calamari could have been crisp. Personally while she'll right one runs the risk of overcooked and then chewy rings so it's a fine balance. Loved the salad chomp chomp! 3/5
The mains well, I opted for fish having the pan fried snapper. Cooked well, a little over done but still satisfactory. Came with potatoes without flare more salad yum!, and not enough of a yummy tartare-like sauce. presentation was very good 3/5.
My partner had the pork belly. It came with p. gratin, whole green beans and what looked like cranberry sauce. This dish was a fail but only by poor culinary skill. Pork was cooked tender no issue yet prepared like a microwave reheat. The two pieces clearly had a crispy skin layer well at some stage they may have been crispy. They were served gluey so that the skin stuck to your teeth.if this was asian it would have been a fail, if fusion equally a fail. So I was surprised to find the cooks or chefs were chinese speakers as crispy pork is mastered by southern cuisines. I don't buy into rest. Owner's arguments of getting a second chance if you tell them at the time in premium price establishments "well if you told as at the time we would have rectified it." Sorry it was monday not second-chance tuesday. Customer experience is as the cards are dealt.
Also the gratin was dry a little chalky I'd say even not too fresh. You see from the pic the beans were just beans and they were crisp tastless but of good quality. 2/5 for the pork belly.
Desserts .. this time it was my brownies that were so so. One piece was hard so hard it was deflecting my spoons efforts! I'd ate 50% bf I flicked to the other piece which I found perfectly soft and spongy or clearly fresher than the leftovers it accompanied. Came with ice cream not worth mentioning, not memorable.
In a place like the viaduct surprised by the uneven standard. Won't waste my time writing more or revisiting v-grill when soul bar awaits.

I came quite reguler at The V Grill. I like their steak, always cook prepectly from my order. Sometime, it is a little lack of service, mostly are fine. I should give a good rate because as long as I go there often, I feel I am home. The people are friendly and smilly. Service is the most important component for a place call "restaurant".
Tobi
While the food was good, it was not fantastic. The real let down was the staff. The duty manager was rude, abrasive and crass. In future reference for those dining.... don't question the status quo. You won't be happy with the responses. Sadly, we won't be dining again.
Tracey Tait
Food was good, service average although wait staff were polite just not THAT onto it. The manager (Lala) has very limited people skills and in my opinion should not be working in the service industry. We had spent in the vicinity of $500 as a group and were happily paying our bill when she (Lala) confronted one member of our party and insisted she had drunk three glasses of Rosè. When my friend tried to explain that whilst she had ordered the third glass, it had had never arrived, Lala demanded that she pay for it regardless. Two different members of the wait staff immediately jumped to my friends defence and admitted that it had never been put through the bar and that there were only two ‘chits’ for the Rosè. At this point Lala turned even more abrasive and defensive and started insisting that she could get security involved and we could all watch the security footage. Not wanting to end the evening on a sour note, my friend paid for the drink and we left.

Turned up expecting to get the Auckland Resturant Month special only to be told that we had to book it in advance. Nowhere did it say that on the website. They said other people had been turning up and had the same complaint. Surprising they haven't specified that on the website then! Won't be returning.
Angela Nicholson
Myself and 3 friends went there on a girls night out. We ordered the garlic bread for starters which was nice. We then waiting an awfully long time for our mains. Two of my friends ordered duck, my other friend ordered the stuffed chicken and I had the seafood pot. All of my friends meals included mashed potato which was partly hot and mostly luke warm signifying that it has been microwaved. The duck was tasteless and the stuffed chicken was dry, my seafood pot was fine. We had nearly finished our meals before we were asked how everything was & when we complained, we were offered coffee or one chocolate brownie to share - we wanted neither so the waiter said that we could discuss our complaints at the till. When we went to pay the Manager told us we would not get a discount and that the chef advised that the potato mash was piping hot when it left the kitchen - we knew this not to be the case but our comments were completely dismissed and there was no concern when we said that we would not be coming back or recommending the restaurant to our friends

I took my partner here for his Birthday dinner tonight, the service was lovely! We had the soup of the day, which was pumpkin and simply delightful. For mains my partner had the BBQ ribs which was perfectly cooked, with the meat coming off the bone. I had the Scotch Fillet medium rare, with mushroom gravy; it was cooked perfectly and melted in the mouth! We were also surprised with Chocolate Brownies for dessert, as they heard me mention it was his Birthday once! We will be going back here.

We went to this place a few weeks ago and we ordered a salt & pepper squid entree which was just delicious and for my main I had scotch fillet. They weren't that fresh as I've had at other places but still nice. The only thing letting it down was the service.. it was just average not friendly and without a smile. Probably won't be back

Dined at the V Grill last night with my husband and the food was magnifique! Our waiter was an English man who made us feel very welcome. We got our drinks and food very quick, and were in and out within an hour. We had their seafood platter and pork ribs, and must I say it was absolutely delicious and the pork just fell off the bone. Servings are huge for the price, so yes, very good value for money. Will definitely return!

Visited with another couple. No consistency with waiters/waitresses - had three different ones serve us in the course of our meal. Waitress wanted to talk us out of ordering four bread entrees, suggested two only. Stupid thing is that for four of us there were three bread rolls for the bread and dips, and three pieces of garlic bread - why not even the servings? We didn't take her advice and ordered 2 garlic breads and one bread rolls with dips. When it came to mains, again the waitress advised one of the males in our group to NOT go for two lamb shanks, as one would be plenty. Since when does a waitress decide how much someone can eat? Drinks were slow to get to the table, and at one stage a small bottle of wine was just placed on the table .... had to take the lid off and pour ourselves, not a biggie, but not good service. We offered our table to another group before ordering dessert ... accidentally left a full glass of wine in the rush to leave .... bugger. The meals were nice, T-Bone was great, but the service was rubbish!!

Diner for 6 on December 2nd, service worst I have seen 30 mins just to get drinks and over an hour to get food. Steak was the worst cut of beef ever seen, salmon undercooked and prices horrendous, they even overcharged on the bill. Steer well clear of this place.

Went there on Saturday night, have been to many restaurants in the viaduct and thought why not give this place a try...I kind of wish I hadn't. Four out of the five mains were very average at best. The fifth was a simple prawn salad with red wine vinaigrette, what came out was a few limp lettuce leaves with two tiny prawns and no sign nor taste of any vinaigrette. Upon complain the waitress tried to defend the dish before retiring it to the kitchen to have more vinaigrette added, it returned with little changed. The breads that were ordered came out and appeared more like small rocks, must have been at least 4-5 days old. This place is in the viaduct where in only a matter of month we are going to have thousands of international visitors and this is what we are serving them? Lot of improvement here, service and food! Very disappointed, will not be returning.

Had an excellent meal!! Food was perfect, cooked perfectly, good value for money, Good sized portions.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
Only thing I can suggest is they expand there wine list.
I recommend for other people to check it out.

Met friends there for Breakfast on Sunday, male waiter didn't want to be there and we guessed hungover his presentation was less than desirable. took 1 hour to get our meals and they didn't come out together and all were cold, we complained and got told you eat it you pay for it! Another couple had waited longer and ended up leaving. My friend told them to take away her dish after it came back still cold and eggs like rubber. We were asked to still pay for the dish, even though en-edible & she hadn't eaten it and we point blank refused to pay for it. Waitress was rude to us!
Friend had said had had dinner there and it was great - so don't recommend to anyone to eat there for breakfast!!

How deceiving this restaurant is!the service is poor, the waiter do not want to work, they do not advice you when you ask them and you have to ask for everything even to have some water.
the food is either to cooked or undercooked and you have either to much or not enough in your plate, but for sure the table is too small to put 2 plates on it!
don't even think of taking one of their special coffee they left you with a nauseous taste.

anyway don't go to this restaurant if you want to enjoy a good night out

My parents and I went to V Grill last night and had a simply amazing meal. Our waitress Cathy from Devon was a little treasure who was brilliant at her job. Drinks orders were taken and water promptly provided. She kept an eye on us and when she saw we were ready to order, popped over. I ordered the lamb special and requested no prawns and she offered extra mushroom to make up. Mum ordered the lamb rack medium and Dad the duck. The meals were delivered in a very timely manner considering the restaurant was very busy and it was so delicious. Simply the best for all 3 of us. Totally recommend V Grill for a great feed.

Went on a Friday night and it was very busy. Usually a good sign. Food service was slow, but the drinks waitress did a good job of making sure we were attended to. My mate and I both had the lamb. Suspect the oven had been turned off half an hour before the meat went in. Very very pink. Food waitress took our complaint and offered free desert and coffee. Pity the crumble wasn't so good. Great service had a good time but should have ordered the food from the place next door.

Had a corporate lunch there and the meals were good. Of a decent portion size. Pity the waitress struggled a little with English but we got there in the end. Unfortunately, we were inside on a beautiful day but would recommend it. Food was good, service good. Didn't take too long to get our meals. Would definitely go back.

A group of us from work booked for a Friday night dinner. None of us had been here before. Varying preferences for food and appetites catered for.
Had read other reviews before not knowing what to expect. Very impressed on all counts, food was very good, tasty, served promptly by a very nice waitress Mylie and her colleagues. None of us left disappointed!! Would definitely go back. Credit to the staff who have turned things around to a very positive outcome. Well done!!!
