Review Pizza Hut - Auckland Central

Bernadette
This is a staple pizza place for family and I, despite not living in New Lynn. Pizza is always hot, cut well, and beautifully flavoursome.
Gerard Sullivan
Pretty fast pizzas. They actually slice their pizzas into proper slices so no complaints from me.

Nice decent sized Pizza. I tried their new โ€œlunch boxโ€ deal for $5 and I was impressed by the stuff I got. It tasted amazing and came up with crispy fries. However, there was only one person who seem to be running the show on her own and finishing up various jobs at one time. But she still managed to give hands down service with a smile. Impressed with the service. Good job๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Great service and helpful staff and amazing pizza by girls. Thanks again :)

I'll be honest food and service were great! But one thing they need to work on the interior. Overall 4.5 stars

A huge thank you to the woman who answered the phone on 6/7/23 at around 5pm. I accidentally placed an order to the wrong location (I live a long way away from New Lynn) and she took the time to place a refund for me.

The guy who cut the pizzas is so nice. You can see his smile even behind the mask. He is so thoughtful my hands were full with pizza he even came and open door for me. Awesome customer service.

Friendly staff, I felt welcome and the customer service I received was excellent

Good pizza and excellent customer service. The owner happened to be there and he delivered the pizzas to our children himself with a big smile and making jokes with the children. The only thing that was a bit shocking for me was the price of the small juice(300ml) for $4! Same brand 3L is sold for $3 at the supermarket. Overall, good place to get a pizza but not beverages apparently.

I must say, the pizzas here has always been the best-tasting out of the other Pizza Hutt branches. Despite what other reviewers have said, personally I have not yet been disappointed out of the many years I have been here, best Pizza Hutt branch in Auckland.

Cooked to perfection. A slight mistake on the order but the team had no problems...made extra pizza for me and apologised several times. It was the manner in which they handled that minor error that impressed me. I was trying to say it is ok...but their care and concern to ensure I was looked after was above and beyond and I would gladly eat here again. Thank you. I hope the team gets a bonus for their efforts!

If you want a place to get reliably tasty cheap pizzas from, this is your spot. I've yet to have a bad pizza from them. They're also really quick (when picking up in store). I order online and arrive before the pick up time and my pizzas are usually ready for me. The only negative experience I've had is when they swapped a pizza in my order by accident and gave ours to somewhere else. They were very apologetic and quickly made us the right pizza while letting us keep the extra pizza. Good customer service!

Mom and sister have gotten pizza here quite a few times and have always been happy. Pizza huts prices are really affordable and go well with the taste and portion size of the food. The ambience would fit over 10 people in it though.
Sam Diprose
ordered from here for lunch today (pickup), food was ready on time and still hot when we got home. tried the new garlic bread crust on a plain cheese pizza, it was delicious but my goD was it greasy. 10/10 recommend if you have several cups of water to wash it down with

Pizza arrived and had a SHORT BLACK CURLY HAIR in the cheese. I eventually got over it and threw out that bit and ate the rest. Rung them simply to tell them what I got and to be more careful and the guy didnt even engage in conversation. He basically repeated what I said to him and then said ok then bye... no 'Sorry for our terrible service'.ย If you could put negative stars I would.

Had a hankering for a pizza this afternoon. Tried looking at their website. No prices unless you signed in and gave them your personal details--very disappointing.ย Went to the store about 4pm. A school boy was leaning on the door blocking any entry into the shop. Not noticed by the staff.ย After glaring at him he eventually reluctantly moved. When I entered the shop I was not served. Waited for a while and then left. No service, no acknowledgement, no nothing. Rang the store manager and was told they serve customers on a one by one basis and I had to wait until they finished with their current order. Sorry guys, heard about multi-tasking? Heard about customer service? Went to another shop to get my meal. Pizza Hut missed out on a possible $20 order! Previously been very disappointing with customer service here and been a very long time since I tried to get my food from them. Will probably be a very very long time or never before I try again.

Absolute bullshit.
I made an online order and checked out as a guest because my account wasn't working. After making payment online, I didn't receive a confirmation email or an order number. I knew this wasn't right, so I checked my bank account and payment had actually gone through. Called up the store and they said they had no record of my order.
I am very angry and disappointed. I paid for my order so where is my food?!?!?
Brooklyn
Napkins and receipts strewn on the floor on this particular visit. The menus werent very presentable on the counter either. Ordered 3 pizzas and 2 fries. Were left waiting almost half an hour. There were 6 staff standing around talking... When we approached the counter the cashier instantly went to the warmer to grab our order as if she had been waiting for us to ask. There wasnโ€™t any name taken on order or effort made to let us know our order was ready. The pizza was cut in all weird shapes. Was fresh and hot though. Might be back to give them another go at some point.

Can't beat a value pizza on a rainy day. This store is especially quick and generous with their toppings. One of the best run franchises around ๐Ÿ‘

Don't bother. Staff rude. Seam they don't care. I have been in several times recently. Stood at counter without even any acknowledgement. Tonight an almost empty restaurant. They said I had to book because they had 50 people..... a nicer response. A sign at the door. Due to popular demand unfortunately we are only accepting bookings etc. Don't go there now or when they shift. Domino's is what brought the cost of pizzas down in nz. Go with them

Even though a restaurant is in the throws of closing down due to the nature of the business, I would expect to go out with a bang instead of a fizz.
The restaurant was pretty full I expect of people wanting to visit nostalgia one last time. A bit like taking an old faithful banger out for a last spin.
My advise, don't bother!
It's clear preference is toward the takeaway side of the business as we saw pizzas being churned out but certainly not destined for the buffet. In fact in the 30 mins we were there I counted only 6 pizzas being brought out. The usual vegetarian, meatlovers etc.
Buffet had hot Chips but the salad I used to enjoy was a sad selection of salads not even worthy of a supermarket deli counter. Not even worthy of nice serving dishes but served up in what looked like Tupperware containers (easy to pack up the leftovers I suspect).
Now for the dessert. Ice cream was so watered down it quickly turned to water by the time I got back to my table. Brownie was frozen solid I couldn't even get my spoon in it.
Farewell pizza Hut. The sooner you close your doors the better sadly...so much opportunity here.

Not sure why there's so much negativity for this Pizza Hut? I came here on a Wednesday evening and had a pleasant time eating lots of pizza. $15.90 for all you can eat is fantastic value. I was more than satisfied with the variety of pizzas I had. However, I think it would have been better if there were more pizza options for vegetarians and people who can't eat pork. And I would have appreciated more pasta options too.

Staff were performing their duties to the best of their ability and were very helpful. There was always someone going around wiping tables and clearing dirty dishes. As soon as pizzas ran out, staff promptly put fresh new pizzas onto the trays.

Sure this place is a bit run down and desperately needed a makeover. It's clearly had it's time and is on it's final legs. But everyone in the restaurant was so happy, really enjoying their pizzas and enjoying each others company. This place is going out with positive vibes.

I believe this Pizza Hut deserves to stay open. But unfortunately, due to the ever changing market of pizzas and fast food, Pizza Hut restaurants no longer satisfies the needs of the fast food consumer and is no longer financially viable - plus the mall next door needed new car parks.

I really wish I could come back here. A real shame it's closing down.
Goodbye Pizza Hut restaurants. Thank you for the memories!

What an absolute disgrace, went here tonight to somewhat reminisce on the good old times had at Pizza Hut as a child , absolutely disgusting!! floors absolutely horrible havent you heard of a vacuum seriously guys! Chips not cooked properly pizza average , pasta what a joke Alfredo packet pasta tastes better than the crap you served there tonight! Ice cream machine was broken that's one of the main reasons you go to Pizza Hut dine in for the bloody dessert! Incredibly rude staff wouldn't even acknowledge my partner when she was trying to say something , in the end it's probably good you are closing down cause your restaurant service and food was an absolute disgrace.

The most disgusting low class feral dining spot in Auckland. I went there not expecting much so it actually meet my expectations. Problem is the place is filthy. Drinks machine hardly worked and no sign of dessert. Pizzas were revolting, dirty cutlery, plates and glasses. I get Pizza Hutt appeals to those with no culinary insight but this place was simply terrible. Really pleased to hear it's closing down before its burnt down. One last note, the staff look miserable, their attitude is appalling and the grounds outside look like a refuse dump. I could hardly wait to get out of there. This was an hour of my life wasted which I'll never get back. It would be well suited as the dining spot of choice for the Vodafone Warriors. Why ? Because the Warriors are the disgrace of the NRL and have no concept of success. Pizza Hut are the disgrace of the NZ dining industry and have no desire to succeed.

This place is a joke. Crap service, crap food, disgusting tables, bacteria city, No air conditioning.

This place used to be a great place to dine in.

I would recommend anyone to go there at all.
Came for the nostalgia of a dine in Pizza Hut. Disappointed and can see why it's closing down. Not soon enough. Poor service and not satisfying at all staff rude and English may not but their first language but at least learn enough to communicate with the people who are paying for the service.

VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE...

Rude and untrained staff..

I have ordered 2 Veg pizza but it was containing beef in it !!!!!

When I told staff to replace it he said I can't do anything it's already cooked !!!!!

I have paid the full price and left the pizza on the counter.

I will never go or recommend Newlynn Pizza hut

Disgusting dirty place toilets were so dirty floor was disgusting and we were the first customers for dinner at 5pm they had no one in the dining room from 2 pm and didn't even bother to clean it food on the seats smears on all the table tops as if they had wiped with a dirty cloth no ice in the drink machine we were Givin dirty cups then th manager decided to argue his point that they r not dirty it's just water stains from the dish washer instead of giving us clean glasses ice cream came out like milk no toppings no jelly no mouse even the chocolate sauce ran out!! There was a big puddle on the floor by the drink machine 2 people told staff then after one of the customers decided to try and soak it up with napkins before someone fell rhen a member of staff came out and moped it up with a annoyed attitude. all you can eat and they couldn't even keep the pizzas coming everyone had to sit around and wait and to top it off there was a huge group of sand flies flying around, everybody was waving their arms trying to get rid of them very disappointed will not return
Lilly M. Jane
Ordered from there a few times and on both occasions I was served old pizza. They just reheat the pizza and sells it to me such a disappointment plus they made me wait the same amount of time as waiting for a fresh pizza.
Ryan
Very happy with what i got for my $16. Probably wont go back though because i am watching my weight and unlimited pizza makes me fat.ย
If it were BYO i might go back though because i like to drink lots while eating lots of pizza.

๐Ÿ• NZ's 1st Pizza Hutt 1974๐Ÿ•
Recently moving to the city of sails, I was ecstatic when I heard there was still one dine in all-you-can-eat Pizza Hutts left in New Zealand! I was in disbelief. But sure enough - there is! The building is even the iconic 80s shape (the one with the triangular hut roof design). Sure enough all the foodie memories from my childhood were all there - red jelly, chocolate mousse, hot choc sauce, pastas, salads, fries and of course pizza a plenty. In all honesty, nothing was amazing, especially considering the price (basic PH pizzas are so cheap nowadays). The place was clean though, and staff were pleasant. Buffet was constantly being replenished and being all-you-can-eat, my fat ass rolled out the door feeling disgustingly satisfied! Of course, I'm never going back here (it just can't compete in 2015) but I don't regret it one bit. I came here for a 'slice' of nostalgia and nothing else ๐Ÿ˜œ

Why would they still continue with their All you can Eat when it is clearly a sad state of affairs? The pizzas were unoriginal and limited to three flavors, the pasta seemed like an obligatory dish and the sides included only fries which were topped up scantily. Really disappointed by the selection.

An unusual place. Pizza/drinks/dessert are standard. The ambience, even for takeaway, needs significant improvement. Staff also need to be in sync with changing times.
Layna Ngahuia
They actually suck now because there eat in restaurant is finished I rang to ask so disappointed :/ please use your heads and bring it back :/

I think we've moved on from this. All you can eat pizza and a dessert bar cannot make up for a total lack of ambiance. They do a roaring trade in takeaway pizza, but it's not a very nice place to sit and have a meal.ย

On the upside, if you want to re-live your 1987esque memories of fine dining in NZ, this is the place to go. There's jelly in the dessert bar folks - green jelly!
Liana Stockwell
All you can eat pizza hut was where it was at back in the day. Too bad I can't say the same for my recent visit. The floor was extremely filthy and the food was extremely sub par! You can only request basic pizza flavors which really takes away from the overall experience.
Cesare Lang
So we thought to try the all you can eat option at this place. Beeeeeg miss take. Would've been better off ordering 2 pizzas with 3 sides. All the pizzas were bland single toppings. Nothing with anything resembling meat. No toppings complemented each other. Slow delivery of food. Much better value to be had elsewhere

When I found out that there was still an all-you-can-eat Pizza Hut in New Zealand, my inner six year old squealed with delight! All-you-can-eat Pizza hut in Crofton Downs, Wellington was where it was at for Lucy Goosey's sixth, seventh, eight and possibly ninth Birthday parties. I thought these places were extinct and only existed in my dreams. As a 27 year old, the experience was just as amazing as it had been as a seven year old. well, not quite. As I don't really eat pork, I usually only eat vegetarian pizza now. When we arrived the friendly lady at the counter asked us which pizza's we wanted. You can only choose from their basics menu. I requested pineapple and cheese and vege. Fresh, hot pizza was on the buffet within ten mins. The salads were extremely blandย but who cares, I wasย "dinning-in" at Pizzaย Hut!ย And then.... I saw the dessert bar. Chocolate moose. Check. Ice cream. Check. Jelly cut into cubes. Check. Chocolate sauce. Check. Chopped peanuts. Check. It was all there :) Now to put my critical hat on... unless your sole purpose of going here is to relive your childhood, you would be better off going to Hell or just orderingย one of theirย $5 pizzasย to take away. At $17.99 including all you can drink Mountain Dew (oooh yeah!) it's not bad value for money. The place is a little dreary but the service is fast and friendly. This is my happy place.

If this rating was based solely on Henderson I'd give it a 1, Lincoln Road would be the best Pizza Hut in West Auckland. Glen Eden is pretty below average, Kelston isn't anything special and New Lynn isn't too bad! But Henderson is the worst Pizza Hut I've been to, I've been in store three times in the past 6 months and everytime I've got food from there it's been below standard. The staff in there are rude, have little to no English understanding, are poorly presented and the last two times I've been in store the store has stunk of body odour, not pleasant! I moved into an area recently which they cover for delivery and again not up to scratch they've had to come back and collect the order three times because it was so poorly presented. As far as satisfying a customers complaint, 'I promise this will not happen again' is a common response from them, but clearly not the case because it keeps on happening. If you really want Pizza Hut make the effort to go to anywhere but Henderson! Can't recommend it at all.

First of all this place doesn't deserve a star let a lone a rating. However here we go, I was looking forward to reliving some great child hood memories at pizza hut instead I was greeted firstly with a slippery floor with no hazards signs, and I thought was an Indian restaurant. The lady who served us was rude who couldn't speak a bar of English and was as useless as a chocolate tea pot. I then sat down and the place was like Antarctica with the aircon set to north pole/blizzard. The pizza's were as bland as a cardboard box and as cold as a baby deers butt in winter. The drinks were heavily watered down and the dessert station looked like something you'd eat at a nursing home the mousse was one level below of becoming kaka (sh*t) and the jelly might as well have been water. Toilets were disgusting one broken, one filthy and one which looked like it had the mousse from the dessert station smeared all over the toilet seat. Salad bar should be called Shit bar no variety even the deli at the countdown across the road has a better selection wouldn't even feed it to my dog. Overall close down you don't deserve the brand name Pizza Hut that we all know and loved when we were young sproggs.

I haven't had a dine in experience in Pizza Hutt in over 10 years, went there with a friend I can honestly say it's the worst food I have experienced. I agree with all the reviews below, $15.90 all you can eat was so bad only a few pizza to choose from, pasta was cold, very limited topping and choices. The Indian guy was being cheap or something, no wonder you guys have no business, dessert station have nothing, salad station was no good, pizza station had chips, Hawaiian, a cheese and mushroom one, a BBQ one, honestly that was it. I felt so ripped off, won't ever go again and you shouldn't either waste of money.
Ida March
It seems that we went to Pizza Hut on a good day, in comparison to the reviews below.
Aside from that the fact that it needs a good clean and paint, and the toilets really are terrible, it was OK. I wasn't expecting the Hilton after all. Last time I went to PH was at Quay St, and it was salty to hell. This was the same sort of pizza but somehow didn't taste salty and I was quite happy to eat my share. Dine in turns a $5 Classic to $8, but we got to sit in a booth, were brought cutlery, plates, and fresh water with ice in it. I'd go back for a cheap lunch.

Errrrmaaaaagowwwd, nom nom nom nom, seewwwwww good,

Pizzas were deeeeeliiisss , my mum Kath and sister Kim loved the salad bar, and Kim's friend Sharon loved the desert station

Kai pai Pizza Hut

I don't know where it all went wrong!!!

I've been going to Pizza Hutt for years before I got an addiction for Dominos and Hells Pizza.

Decided to go in for dine in lunch (One of the last surviving dine ins) and was absolutely gutted when I saw the food.

Pizza itself looked like pizza bread.
Large base with near to nothing topping.
I couldn't even tell what I was eating the toppings was so sparse. I could taste a bitter after taste from the tomato paste they used. There were 4 pizzas, and I can honestly say, they all tasted the same. Really gutted.

Hot pasta dish was cold. Shell pasta with flour and water.... poor attempt at cheese sauce with dusting of bacon... could of been dust, was too small to identify.

Chips, no surprise was cold. Not sure why it was in the hot dish.

Salad was wilted, beetroot tasteless, cheese looked to dry to eat.

I wouldn't recommend Pizza Hut to anyone. Despite the fact my son ordered pizza from Pizza Hutt (Kelston) and we were greeted with the same bland tasteless rubbish.

Sticking with Dominos' and Hells Pizza.

Ordered last night, the delivery driver instead of actually parking on the driveway, decided to drive onto my neighbour's lawn! Who does that? Pizza was luke warm and rather garbage. Not bothering again.

All the Pizza Huts in West Auckland are terrible. I think the Henderson one takes the cake though. Pizza's are always burnt no matter what store you go to, the staff are stupid and get orders wrong. Time for PH to retire I think.

I can't even give this place a single star. To say it was a horrible experience is an understatement. It started off ok. As the first 6 pizzas came out (all with bacon) I sat there gazing into the sky for a good 30 mins, I Finally asked if they will bring anything out that didn't have bacon in it. A while later they brought out something that I could finally eat. Frustrated and annoyed I just wanted to leave, before I leave I wanted to use the bathroom. And apart from eating a few slices of pizza this had to be the icing on the cake. I entered the first Cubicle which had a broken toilet paper dispenser and a filthy sink, so I went to the second cubicle which had graffiti on the walls ans urine all over the toilet, so I decided to try the third cubicle which had literally had crap all over the toilet, trying to not to chunder I quickly left. The workers clearly don't clean or check the bathrooms, which makes me wonder what else they don't clean properly.

Around 3:30 pm when my husband, myself and my brother arrive in Pizza Hut NEW LYNN. No one is dining-in; We were in the counter to place our order but we were told that they cannot serve us, as they are cleaning and preparing for dinner time....This must be the new motto "cleaning first before business". Mind you, no one in the restaurant and the tables were all cleaned! They should put a new sign "NO DINE IN ONLY TAKE AWAY!!! The Indian Manager obviously is so lazy to serve or do not want any customers at all to make a mess on the table!!! No wonder the restaurant is empty.
Anyway, we went across the road and enjoyed the Subway instead.
Pizza Hut better change your service or your Manager!!!
George Mulipola
I'm not an "official" reviewer but I am Pacific and we do love a great 'value meal deal' and that's what it was. Clear communication on arrival, 5 hot pizza's and fries ready to munch down, simple yet fresh salad bar and self service desert bar equipped with an ice cream machine. For pizza, fries, salad and desert is bloody awesome for $9.90. Be warned to wear your track pants :))
Paul
Worse service ever, had someone who couldn't speak English answer the phone, told us to come down, which we did then got told we couldn't dine in because lunch closes at 2. Wish he had just told me on the phone rather than getting there and finding out
Mauve
I think that anyone who gives this place 1 star must have seriously overestimated the place before they got there- it's not like pizza hut is known for being a gourmet luxury restaurant. We went there and the food was fine, my friend asked if they could put out some vegetarian pizzas and they did, they had comfy booths to sit in and the chips were nice.

I was really looking forward to my first time at a Pizza Hut restaurant in NZ. I am from Aussie and the Pizza Hut in Browns Plains is awesome. So much variety.

Went to the dinner service on a Saturday evening. Was told straight away that the ice cream machine wasn't working. I joking asked if we would get a discount and the girl could not give me an answer. She went to ask her supervisor and we were told no. I thought at least they would of offered us drinks on the house instead. I had 2 small children with me aged 1.5 and 2.5 so they are the ones that really missed out there.

Only a few options of pizza to choose from. The salads weren't anything to write home about. When I tried the pasta it was cold. I asked the girl if it was meant to be cold and she said no that someone had forgot to put the warmer on. Fresh pasta was brought out. It was so bland. No flavour at all. We ordered water for our table (cause I was not spending another $2 on drinks when we were already spending $18 on the food!) and it took a good 20 minutes for the water to finally arrive at our table.

I was very disappointed in the service and quality of the food. I won't be going back again. You're store has given Pizza Hut a bad name in my book.

We visited this restaurant in September to celebrate my birthday. We had an unlimited budget, however decided to visit here. The last time we were here was about a year ago and had a terrific experience. Not today unfortunately.

The ice cream machine wasn't working and they had a sign up saying it was a temporary issue. However, upon reading on Four Square, the machine had been broken since July.

The pizzas were tasty when they eventually came out. The salads were fresh and chips were nice. Our gripe was that the ice cream machine wasn't working. They had a 2-litre ice cream tub sitting in the dessert buffet and there were about 36 people in the restaurant. Most were there for the buffet lunch, as we were.

I believe they should have given a discount due to the very poor dessert. There were dregs of ice cream in the container and they brought out some more which was once again partially used. The ice cream was so rock hard that the other customers had to help one another to gouge ice cream out of the container. There were only 2 staff on the whole time.

To make matters worse, the unisex toilet had no light whatsoever. A bit hard once the door shuts to see anything in the pitch black with no lighting whatsoever.

We commented on the Pizza Hut facebook page and they said we should contact them but email them on their "Contact Us" part of their facebook page, which we did. We received no email and no acknowledgement, nor an apology for our experience.

The fact that Pizza Hut didn't even follow up, even to acknowledge our email and apologise for our experience would have been nice. All 4 of us have decided not to buy Pizza Hut again.

We hadn't been to the "all you can eat pizza hut" since we were kids, so we went here for dinner recently.
The cost was $17.90 for all you can eat food, PLUS $2.00 for pour your own drinks.

There was very little variety of food on offer. There would be between 0-3 pizzas out at any given time, and it was always the same thing - a sausage one, a tomato and cheese one and what might have been a supreme one (i'm not sure).
There were a few chips out, but it it could have been topped up more.
The only options as far as drinks went was pepsi, 7up and mountain dew.

The ground was filthy, and really sticky.

Just been in the New Lynn branch, Auckland, as I often went before. A horrible nightmare!
I was there with my 2 year son and I am 6 months pregnant. Served by an Indian man called Mohit, he couldn't understand what "a large pizza, mixed with super supereme and meat lover" meant, put an order for two large pizzas. When I pointed it was wrong, he seamed quite angry" you didn't say that", I repeated what I said, he insisted"you didn't say half and half" in a even worse silly way, loud. I had to find a better communicator to talk to. Then went out waiting coz I was told it would be 20mins. When I came back in 20 mins to pick up, no one wanted to see me or talk, I was waving the receipt to the boxing girl, she looked at me, decided to ignore. When she finally got closer, I called her out, she ran away again!
Finally I had to wait there for another 15 minutes until all the other customers got their orders, Many of them like me, came back after being called out. Then I had to queue again, got told meals were much earlier ready and they were too busy. During the time I was waiting for attendance, the same Indian staff was free for a while, helping quite a few people like me finding their orders, but no, how would be bothered to help me?
Over the last so many times when I visited there, always a Saturday, I always came back after the order was ready, but there was always someone rushed in front of me trying to help.
I can only say it's a totally rubbish team which ruined my night and made me decide never come back to them!
After my complaint, the manager rang back, saying he just took over the restaurant for a week, no wonder! And already told staff how to deal with the situation, that's it!!!
Please do not go, because you will never want to go back again.
