Review Noodle Canteen - Auckland Central

Weekly Chinese takeaway.👌🏼 bang for your buck, generous portions. The wontons are massive and tasty! I recommend the wonton noodles soup, beef fried rice and the deep fried wonton. Not a fan of the kway teow but I’m hyper fussy about the way my kway teow should be. I’m still working my way through the menu.

Very affordable price for a big portion of each menu.. Me and husband bought kung pao chicken n stir fry tofu on rice, only $15/portion. Delicious food, staff is friendly, and clean take away shop.. Recommend for you who looking for big portion but not making your wallet empty.. :-) Cheers..

Delicious food, reasonably priced, substantial portions and good value for money.

We like this place very much, they always greet us everytime we walk into their shop, shop is always clean, service is on point. We love that they have a variety of food to offer, always love it when I feel like. cos this is the place I come for Chinese cuisine& a good size honey chicken for lunches. Awesome stuff.

Great food and service. I used to go to the Mt Wellington branch, but service there has really dropped as well as the quality of the food. I will go to Quay St branch for now until Mt Wellington improves. Thanks again

The food in this is extremely delicious! Would recommend to many people as the food is affordable reaching the standards of others. They offer various meals for certain people such as vegetarians! My mates and I usually get two meals and will fill up!

Decent noodles, big portions and kitchen is pretty fast. Service side however is not great, hope once lockdown flew away, it change.

Quick, good value, just as I want, fresh vegetables with crispy honey chicken is yummy. will be back.

I've ordered honey chicken noodles from the Noodle Canteen in Mangere Town Centre a couple of times and they were so good! Hoping for the same, I ordered them fom Quay St Noodle Canteen and was severely disappointed! The noodles had no flavour AT ALL and the chicken felt like flavourless tofu. The food was so bland, I didn't even finish half of it. Not going back there.

Vege noodle bowl + $3 to add 10 prawns. Overall taste wasn’t as great as I’d hoped. Quite bland actually- soy sauce & oil. Generous amount of Veges & noodle gone to waste with minimal flavour within.

Why didn’t I Zomato this place first?!?!

The last time I had Noodle Canteen was 10 years ago in Tauranga.....and it was delicious.

Today’s experience wasn’t that fond experience I had 10 years ago!

This place is dirty, run down and food is left out on the counters and not put away in fridges.

I ordered the BBQ pork. Egg noodle with Roast Pork, tomato, vegetables in a Chinese BBQ sauce.

Nothing was measured or weighed, I received a truck load of noodles and cabbage, one quarter of a small tomato and a few slices of pork. Check out the photo.

The worst bit was a plastic container full of fried pork filled won tons left out uncovered on the counter top.

These guys spend more time on their phones than looking after the food and the canteen.

One thing I don’t like with my food is a side of food poisoning. I actually use to love this place but twice now this has happened and it’s not the nicest thing to get as a side.

The man that took my order was nice, however I was charged an extra dollar for each prawn I brought, a total of 4 and never received my extra prawns, the worst thing is, it happens all the time, I've seen other reviews of people having the same problem, it makes you wonder is that deliberate ?

so many variations of noodles/rice, meats and vegetables. really fast and fresh service, i come here a lot. staff are always happy to take something out or put it in.

Ordered food from here today. The service was poor. The woman at the front counter was not customer focused at all, and was distracted and uninterested. The food has become worse and worse over time. The food was mainly noodles, hardly any vegetables and probably 5 or 6 pieces of meat. I won't be getting food from here again. The taste isn't even worth it.

Food was shit! No flavour what's so ever. Had to add salt and pepper to make it eatable. Was ripped off as well! Got charged $12.50 when online it said $11.50. I want that dollar back cause the food was so shit the dogs didn't even eat it.
Their service is really fast. I ordered a honey chicken noodles and as always I wasn't able to finish it, but was very satisfied about the quality and taste of it

The only dish I get from here and other branches is combination noodles. This place isn't the best of all but definitely not the worst of all either. The staff are lovely though but to be honest the customer service really depends on their moods. Will come back

A nice and fast place for a takeaway lunch. The noodles are the usual standard for takeaways but the seafood fried rice is really good. The rice isn't hard or too dry and the seafood isn't overcooked. The fish still tastes really tender.

We went here for a quick lunch today as most of the other places were closed.

The food taste is decent and I'm not entirely sure if I would categorise this place as a healthy option as it seems they use a lot of frozen vegetables which means heaps of preservatives but I could be totally wrong.

The quantity is huge. A noodle box can fulfil my needs for 2 days possibly.

Will I come back here? - I may not.

I went through a Noodle Canteen phase a few weeks back, where I would crave the spicy noodles here. One of the newer dishes on their menu is the sweet Japanese chicken udon noodles, which I decided to try. I asked if they could make it spicy and they did it happily.

The portions are quite big and I usually can't finish my meals here, but I've ordered the Japanese chicken udon noodles twice and managed to finish both times! I'm quite pleased with the dishes that I have ordered at this Noodle Canteen branch, and I've never had a bad experience here so I'm a little surprised at the older reviews for this place!
Service is okay as well.

Definitely will be back soon!

November 2015 update - service has improved, rating upgrade from 3.5/5 to 4/5.

This is an interesting Asian eatery that serves fusion dishes. Fried rice is nice. This is a takeaway place and the decor is minimal. Service is fair.

I ordered the vegetarian noodles with no tofu. The dish had barely any veggies which is disappointing considering I opted for no tofu. It was rather spicy with large chunk of unmixed flavour/ curry paste, strange when I asked for Singapore flavour. Overall unimpressed & I wouldn't go back.

Bought it a chicken laksa from here tonight and it was not pleasant to eat. Hate to say it, but it was the worst laksa I have tried :/ The soup itself was very liquidy and bland tasting with not much noodles and meat. Customer service on the other hand was ok. Sorry to be harsh but it is my honest opinion.

It would be the nicest noodle canteen I have tried and service was friendly too which is always a bonus, just maybe go in and order instead of phone order as English can be bit hard to understand but as long as the food is yummy that is the main thing right :)

Officially the worst Noodle Canteen in history.
I can deal with the terrible service but when I waste $10.20 on chunks of cabbage on flavourless rice I get rather frustrated. This was my second attempt with the Quay St Noodle Canteen and both times they have failed to provide the dish which every other noodle canteen seems to have down to a T. I will not be back.

Noodle Canteen Quay St. STAY AWAY! I ordered the vegetarian fried noodles and it consisted of 99.9% noodles, measly amount of overcooked vegies, literally 1 mushroom and 2 by 2 (cm) tofu.. oh wait there's more: I don't eat meat but they decide to throw in a fly for free. UGH!

This is a good place to get a variety of noodles. I like it how they mix Chinese to Malaysian to Thai cuisine which attracted me to this place. I have been a fan of Chinese cuisine since knee high.

I go there monthly once to reward myself after a hard days work. To my 38 years of living, I was shocked how they addressed me today when my order was done. A certain staff member whistled at me several times until I registered he was trying to get my attention. A simple "excuse me" would've worked. It was like an owner whistling to acknowledge thier pet, preferably a dog.

After this shocking experience, I shall not be taking any of my clients, friends nor even family members to this particular outlet ever again!!!
