Review Sushi Samurai Restaurant And Bar - Auckland Central

Great price for a nice lunch. Tasty but feel the sauces are a little 'watered down' Atmosphere a bit blah. Decor needs updating and the plastic plants removed from the walls. Friendly owner.

Delicious food, and love the Japanese conveyor belt, it really adds to the atmosphere here. Ramen and chicken katsu donburi is great! They have free miso soup with every meal. Restroom is also clean.

My husband and I are eating out way along the 27 bus route and Sushi Samari was next on the map, we weren't expecting much as we've had amazing sushi train in Japan. This place was delicious! Order off the menu and you won't be disappointed. The train food made me nervous so I didn't try it, but the teriyaki chicken bento was fresh and tasty.

Super friendly and helpful staff. Cool little street side spot to watch people and cars go by. I could almost imagine I was in Tokyo. Plus I love the sushi train!!!

This is a great place to have a delicious and not very expensive lunch. Teriyaki Salmon Donburi is probably the tastiest Salmon I ever had. And it comes with rice and refreshing coleslaw. I was even offered a free miso šŸ². The only downside is that they don't have a free WiFi for guests.

I ordered the vegetarian teriyaki tofu bento via UberEats and it was so delicious! Really affordable considering the delivery from the city and I had a lovely time tasting all the different components. Highly recommended (and the cute sushi drawing was such a sweet touch)! āœØ

Had dinner there tonight was impressed sushi was well made and selection was good. I had tempura vegetables which was nice but the Udon noodle soup OMG such flavor in this really impressed. Also great value for money.

I've been a regular customer at Sushi Samurai for over two years now, and I can confidently say that it's one of the best places to enjoy authentic Japanese cuisine in Auckland. The food is always fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented, and the service is top-notch. We definitely recommend the chefs A la carte menu. The staff are friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu, and they always make me feel welcome. Overall, I highly recommend Sushi Samurai to anyone looking for a great dining experience. The food and service are consistently excellent, and I can't wait to come back again soon! Thanks for the Chef for the amazing experience!

Nicest Tuna tataki ever. Their sushi always go so fast, but order new one from the menu also works just need to wait a little bit. Chicken Katsu also yum.šŸ¤¤

My darling and I found this place by accident as we were looking for a dinner place before a concert. We were glad we came in as the place was immaculate clean and didn't even know it had sushi train til we went in. I even had the Chashu Ramen and it was plenty tasty. My partner had a bao Salmon burger with fries and she rated it very highly. The waitress was very nice and polite, extremely considerate of our presence. We will come back hopefully with more delightful experiences :)

Itā€™s no doubt you guys are the best sushi in Auckland. Iā€™m not a big fan of Japanese food but for some reason your sushi changed my mind. I was so full so definitely be back after the Christmas to try more. šŸ†šŸ†šŸŽ–šŸ„‡šŸ†šŸ†

We're back in level 2 which means the return of the lunch time eateries. First stop, sushi. Stopped by this place on my hunt for what to get. Ordered a salmon and avocado roll. The salmon was super generous and fresh. A tad on the pricier side but worth it for the freshness.

Nice friendly service with tasty sushi. All ingredients are fresh. Good place to have a quick lunch.

I went to this place around 6 p.m. on Friday with a friend.

Atmosphere: 3/4
Spacious quiet place

Food: 4/4
Had chicken katsu bao bun combo ($10.50), which came with potato wedges.

Service: 3.5/4
No problem with the service at the restaurant.

Cost: 4/4
Affordable price for two bao buns with potato wedges. This is my favourite place for bao buns now.

Ordered the teriyaki chicken bento and a side of karaage chicken. The bento looked surprisingly good at first glance with salmon sashimi and a generous portion of teriyaki chicken. Salmon tasted fresh, rice was well cooked and seasoned. The tempura veges were good + one prawn. The teriyaki chicken itself was a little average, tasted a bit bland and the chicken didn't seem to be the freshest. The karaage was great - I liked the mini side salad it came with too

Thank you again for the amazing food and service! The food is delish! My boyfriend and I enjoy coming here for date nights. The ice coffee is also yum!

pretty good deal for the bento set, but the flavours wasnā€™t really amazing. The sushiā€™s tasted stale too. Ramen was pretty mediocre as well. Service was good though

What can I say other than nice and yummy food, excellent service. Except parking is a bit tricky.
Donbury, katsu curry, teriyaki gyoza all good šŸ‘

Good place to go to for lunch. Service was great and sushi tasted fresh. The lady was so nice and ambiance was lovely. Location isnā€™t great but I would come again.

Super annoyed. We came all the way to avail of our Gold 1+1 Food deal only to be told that theyā€™ve changed to the drinks deal?!? The app still showed it as otherwise. Totally not cool šŸ˜”

Wait staff were very friendly and attentive. Their miso soup was nice on a cold day. We have been here for 2 visits already and enjoyed both visits. We didn't realize it was like sushi train the first time there. It's like a mini version which is good as there less people and seats were comfortable although the sushi selection was limited. We enjoyed the Bento Box and Ramens while the kids picked what they like in the revolving sushi menu. Their chocolate cake was very moist and yummy šŸ˜‹ can be hard to find parking on a busy day but lots of street parking at the St Benedicts Street

The hot pot was nice and spicy. Yakisoba (fried noodle) was ok, but it wasn't a Japanese taste. Staff was friendly. Reasonable price if you didn't eat the sushi. If you want to eat real Japanese foods, this is not the best place to go. But it will be a good option for the express lunch.
Vincent
Staff is extremely friendly , sushi train is something different to other Japanese casual restaurant, sukiyaki and chicken donbury is highly recommend
TY
Not worth the quite high price. Ramen tasted similar to instant ones from Pak n Save. Small portion sizes. Will not return to this restaurant.

I have been going here at least once a fortnight for the past 6 months. Every piece of sushi off the sushi train is delicious, flavourful and reminds me of the wonderful sushi I ate in Japan when I finished this past January. None of the other sushi places that I have eaten at come close to the freshness and authenticity of the sushi served here. I especially appreciate the variety of fish on the train, in particular, the unagi (eel) nigiri which is one of my favourites.

My zomato gold experience on Friday lunch with Denny Setiawan, ordered bento set chicken teriyaki and ramen pork charsu.. too bad they dont allow two bento set for gold however still the food are nice eventhough the portion is quite small compare to other japanese resto.. but i like it and also they have some sushi takeaway, which is an option for extra snack šŸ¤¤šŸ¤¤

Came into this place recently with my husband. Was clean, food looked delicious and service was real nice. Had a curry katsu and a couple of things from the sushi belt. Wold go again.

Other reviews are right; portions are quite small. Would prefer to go to Kokoro or Bian (both nearby and well established Japanese eateries).

In saying that, food was decent. My teriyaki salmon don was somewhat above average, although my friend really enjoyed her Chicken Curry don. Nothing bad about this place, just not sure thereā€™s anything that really sets this place above anywhere else!

One thing I will comment on is that their staff donā€™t seem to communicate with each other at all - I placed an order over the phone as I have a very short lunch break and was only stopping in briefly. Whilst my food was made and sitting on the bench (which I pointed out...), the gentleman serving me had no clue who it was for (me) or why it was there and had to go get another coworker to literally put it through the till....? Very confusing customer service! Could be good if you were eating in store, but probably wonā€™t get take away again.

Went there for dinner tonight and we loved the sushi, also had Donburi teriyaki chicken. Iā€™ve visited most of the Japanese restaurants around Auckland and found this place interesting. Thatā€™s why I thought to write a review. If you love Japanese foods you should try at least once. Everything was freshly made. Hopefully visiting soon to try other dishes.

Great food from what I've tried so far, prices a bit high but worth it and the food is always amazing! Their sauces are delicious, and they complement the salmon perfectly. The sushi is always fresh and appetising. The staff is so welcoming and friendly!

I would definitely come again, thank you for the great service

very fresh food , good shop , like the music, price is reasonable. Just see someone complain the size for the chicken don, you compared the price between take away and restaurant, make me laugh, if you cooked at home, I think it will be more cheaper than take away . they're just soft open, I think it's much better than others, will come back again, strongly recommend.5star

New sushi train in the town! Love the teriyaki chicken don! Chicken is tender and size is all right. I donā€™t understand why ppl complain about the size but for me it worth 13.5 dollars. I also have been to Bian on the same street and the price is basely same but I donā€™t think they are on the same level tbh. Would come here again and will recommend!
Rebecca
Literally any sushi store is better than this place. Paid 13.5 for chicken donburi, and received 6pieces of under seasoned chicken sized smaller than a childā€™s pinky finger. One of the plates on the conveyer belt had a bug on it, and the ā€˜managerā€™ shows no empathy. Sushi plates had a rice to meat portion of 7:3, and with the donburi it was 8:2, if that. I am generously giving 1 star because it kept me warm on a cold night. I understand they have recently opened, but I truely hope they try harder to increase portions, or drop the price. Overall, appalling.

Do yourelf a favour, walk 20 meters down to a restaurant called Bian, the quality of food is better and portions much more generous. Walked into Shshi Samurai thinking we would try new a new place. Big mistake here. We were greeted by a bug on on of their sushi plates off the converyor belt. To add insult to injury, the udon was overcooked and their teriyaki chicken donburi set was not enough to even feed a starving child in Africa. The chicken thigh was tasty, but it felt the chef just chucked his off cuts on the grilled as it was so damn small! Well we did asked if the waiter if this was the large portion. He said yes and did not provide a solution to our already tainted experience. Carb overloaded meal. 1 star just because we couldn't rate it a 0

Update: Seems like they have bumped up rating with fake reivews. Few followers and mainly asians reviewing. Funny that.

Teriyaki chicken donburi was TINY .. barely 1/2 a chicken thigh .. udon was over cooked .. texture was like over soaked instant noodles . Never again !!

Over priced, mediocre sushi. I would go to Bian sushi a few shops away. Maybe more variety but this is someplace I wont be visiting again. Service was subpar.
