Review Seafood Paradise - Auckland Central

The food is nice but quite expensive. There’s a minimum requirement of $600 if you need to use the small chamber. Anyways the food are fresh and portion size is okay. The chef has performed good standard in preparing the dishes. My fav are the Paua and steamed fish, tender, soft and a lot of flavor. The oysters are jumbo size and are super crispy and fresh.

I called in before asking if there was vacancy. The lady at the phone told me to just come in and cut the phone before I could say anything else. Luckily, I understand Chinese because she answer the phone in Chinese and replied in Chinese. When I got there, the lady immediately recognise me probably because I’m only one that arrives in one person. I’m okay with my Chinese but not too good and the people in service don’t know too much English they should really hire someone that knows Chinese and English. The cheese lobster was great. Lots of cheese. The oysters were super fresh with the vermicelli noodles. Just a lobster with the spring onion didn’t have too much flavour. I had a really hard time cutting up the lobster legs so I eat most of it and packed away the ones with shells. Go home and slowly crack them open.

If you have a crave for Chinese seafood, this is the place. Food taste is almost comparable to those in Hong Kong. Raw materials are very fresh (all live seafood). Their steamed fish is just perfect and tastes very good. Food alone, this is a 5-star place. They can improve on service.

Friendly staff, clean, the food is certainly superb, price equals to quality. Expect a long queue in the evening on the weekend. Fresh seafood, you can pick the seafood by yourself from the aquarium. 10/10 will come again.

We had Yumcha lunch on Sunday, while the food is good and tasty but they were super busy with only few staffs, poorly managed even they tried to accomodate but this is huge place, table wasn’t cleaned, we didn’t get cutlery, water, condiments, napkins. We have to wait long time just to ask for the table to be clean. FOOD Yumcha was Great, yummy, authentic and GOOD price! I will definitely eat here again maybe after lunch rush or when they hired more organised with more staff.

Great yum char experience, the food was as good as what I had in Canton or HK. Three main dishes were also authentic and tasty. Didn't order seafood this time maybe leave it for a special occasion.

Great food and fresh seafood. Very authentic. However. Compared to other restaurant. More pricy and expensive. Service needs to improve as well.

We went for dinner last night at the Seafood Paradise restaurant which has left us with the best impressions! We were greeted on arrival by Jason and Yu Jie the most hospitable hosts who made us feel welcomed and gave us an amazing dining experience, accompanied with delicious dishes, beautiful presentation, great wine list and wonderful service. I highly recommend to everyone!. It is next to seafood market and has beautiful oceanfront location. The ambiance is very welcoming and charming. Staff are extremely knowledgeable and make great recommendations on food & wine . Making the customers happy is their main priority and for their prices it’s 100% worth it, great value for money. Absolutely the best meal we had in a long time and happy to say, I enjoyed every single bite of the meal last night. This is my absolute favorite restaurant now. We are so fortunate to have visited this restaurant. Love this place and will continue to visit. Thank you Jason, Yu Jie and the lovely team for your wonderful hospitality.

Nothing went well during our visit here. The worst restaurant I have ever been too - even compared to bad ones I have been to in developing countries.

Service was terrible. All the serving staff seemed inexperienced, eg dropping dishes, not giving a spoon with rice bucket, not providing enough cutlery, not changing our small plates eventhough they were full of bones/shell etc. They were also very inattentive - we struggled to get their attention as they were just standing by the counter staring into space.

Food took a LOOOOOONG time! It took nearly an hour for our food to arrive. We noticed they were busy and specifically asked whether food was going to take long when we were ordering and the lady taking our order said it would be quick hence we stayed. Worst decision ever!

Food was also expensive and average - nothing special to warrant that price.

When we complained to the manager/owner about the service and the wait time, she never apologised but just kept giving excuses.

Will definitely not return. There are lots of other restaurants around with much better food, much better service, for much better price.

This was no where near a paradise. The worst dining experience I’ve ever had.

We didn’t get seated for over 45 minutes because their arrangement of tables didn’t accommodate the number of people in the booking, so we had to wait for the table next to us to leave the restaurant. It continues to go downhill: there was only one lady in the staff team who could take orders, so that took another extended period of time. We asked for 7 wine glasses and they said they didn’t have enough - but we then see the hostess asking them to take the wine glasses out of the box... so the staff did, unwashed or cleaned, and placed them on our table. The hostess proceeded to tell our table to be careful with them as they’re very expensive?!?

The wait staff would pay no attention to our table, only bring literally the cutlery we ask for and nothing else as part of the set, including the right number of tea cups, chopsticks etc. This was minor, but a large inconvenience after all the waiting.

An hour later, and twelve very hungry people finally see the first dish emerge. It’s the smallest duck dish. A chicken dish comes out, but is then dropped on the floor by the waiter.

They don’t come and clear your dishes, they don’t apologise for anything, and the service is not even worth the taste of the food.

We’re finally eating, our table is full of food, and the waiter brings over the DESSERT. Huge slap in the face - what’s that supposed to mean? Time to leave? It’s was 9pm and we just started eating, and out booking was at 7pm.

Nothing special here - not even worth your time - go somewhere else instead. There will be way better food, for half the price. Never, ever come back here.

First of all, the water tanks are quite unique in Auckland. Watching the live fish swimming is really something, but the same time it’s quite sad that they going to be served as food on the table. We ordered some clams and lobster, the taste is really good. But the price is very expensive, over $700 just for 4 of us. Certainly this place is not the place to enjoy on a regular basis. But I have to say it’s a nice experience.

Lovely restaurant located by the Wynyard Quarter. Elegant setting with a nice ambience.

Food are decently portioned, but on the expensive end.

The sashimi are super fresh. The honey lamb chop was well seasoned and very tender. The shredded pork with chili is very flavorful as well, great for spicy food lovers. Prawns were decently sized, very meaty.

Food: 7/10
Food presentation: 8/10
Service: 7/10
Location: 10/10
Ambience: 8/10
Price $80 per person excl alcohol
Aimee.
Huge variety of love and fresh seafood. From fish to oysters to crayfish to abalone etc. The food is delicious and full of flavour- especially the lobster which was spectacular. However very pricey maybe because of the location.

Came in tonight for dinner with the family. Lobster and noodles were extremely flavourful. Mince in beans were a bit too salty but beans were good. Noodles on top of oyster were also delicious. Would definitely come back again for more noodles!

This restaurant is easily the best restaurant in Auckland but their are a few conditions. Firstly make sure you bring someone who speaks FLUENT Mandarin because the staffs english is not the best. HAVE MONEY!!!!!!!. Be ready to drop a couple hundred dollars minimum on Crayfish and live seafood. Thirdly know what to order, this is where a Chinese person is helpful because they can order the right dishes.

Overall I highly recomend this restaurant and is definitely the best but is very pricey and that is why I rate it 4 stars.

Live seafood restaurant with plenty of live seafood options ranging from crayfish to shell fish. We booked for mid autumn festival and the restaurant was very busy with families celebrating the special day.

We were seated and the waitress helped us with our order but she didn’t seem very friendly..

The food however tasted good but was also quite pricey (seasonal price).

Good food however.

Terrible experience. We had to wait more than one hour to get only one starting dish and no one cared about our table while we were waiting. Finally we canceled other dishes and left but couldn't hear any "sorry" from any staff including manager. This was worst dining experience of this year. And if somebody has any chance, please let them know the correct word is "restaurant", not "reastaurant" as shown on their sign.

Boy was i surprised to find this medium sized restaurant in Wynyard Quarter. As some will know i dont really bother to go to too many trendy parts to eat as im too lazy but i was pleasantly surprised by a high standard of everything.
More of a surprise was they had not had a Zom review or rating yet. Well i had to put fix that! So climbing out of Zom retirement heres my opinion...
Most tables are large fitting 10-12 people but they do have tables for 4 and for 8. There is a doorway on both ends of the sitting area so there is no attempt to cram as many tables in as possible. The back drop is a wall of tanks with all the live splendour of fish abalone crays etc. There was the biggest cray I've seen for some time which had it's own tank. (Don't tell those chicken activists).
