Everyone loves a good dump. And these guys make great value delicious dumplings and baos

Oh. My. Goodness. Love at first taste at this little bolthole of a cafe. Tried the pork dumplings with self-squeeze bottle of vinegar soy and sweet chili (also have hot chili), and then saw a dude eating a crepe thing and ordered that too. Amazing to look at, amazing to eat. Carried the (ecologically friendly) boxes of food around my office showing it off. Well, kinda. Fantastic value, too, at $6.50 and $7.90, respectively. You have to try it!

Dumplings were delicious but Bao was a bit soggy and underwhelming

Got me and my manager super addicted to this place in one go. Pork dumplings great and with their yummy sauces, out of this world. Delicious crepe with pulled pork too. Friendly and great value!

Tried them a few weeks back and highly recommend the thin coating and the meat inside each dumpling. Will do well with a few more products and a CAFE set up. DUMPLING BOX CAFE branding.

I used to love your dumplings. I always order it from ubereats. Today we received our order for chicken dumplings, pork dumplings and Bao around 12.15 pm ( I’m being precise so that you know what the order was). Today it was like the worst dumplings I had ever. You have changed your filling and also the flour skin was very hard and dry. I am totally disappointed. Will never order again.

A box of regrets. Pork dumpling filling didn’t even taste like meat; it was a bland, solid ball of disappointment. Had to douse them in sauce until I ran out.

Affordable & tasty traditional dumplings. Short wait time for the prawn dumplings I’d ordered- pan fried. I suppose they were out on display rather than freshly fried. Still tasty tho, so no complaints there.

just ordered uber eats and dumplings were okay mostly outside and maybe a teaspoon of filling.reason for my review because im angry at the pork crepes usually nice n my favourite but today were complete soggy one bite and i threw it in the bin was totally gross and i ordered two both soggy i picked it up and was falling apart you could squeeze the crepe and it would drip juice from the pork inedible pissed me off wasting $36 on this place. if i wasnt working id take it back for a refund

I was in a rush for a quick bite after work and stumbled across Dumpling Box, which I had previously seen under renovation but was finally open. As I was somewhat familiar with it I decided to give it a try.<br/><br/>With the intention of posting a review I thought it would be fair to order one dumpling and one bao (bun) dish. The most noticeable feature of the dumplings right off the bat is that they use a lot of wrapping, especially in comparison to the meat but thankfully it was fairly thin. The pork filling in my dumplings wasn't too salty and practically melted in my mouth which was a plus. The pork was not accompanied by much chives as is usually the case. Other things to note are the dumplings are likely boiled then pan fried which gives the skin a bit of crunch but as expected this causes them to be rather oily. Regrettably I have to admit my bun was a dud. The Curry Chicken Bao used pulled chicken lightly colored in curry sauce but in reality was dry and extremely bland. The other parts like the bun and vegetables were fine.<br/><br/>The lady who served me at the counter was friendly. There is very little space to actually eat so it is more of a takeaway. The dumplings are ready made but other items on the menu like the buns and soup need preparation time. There is also a range of self serve sauces to choose from - soy, vinegar, sweet chilli and Sriracha.<br/><br/>In the end, I would say given its location and convenience, Dumpling Box is a reasonable choice for someone looking to satisfy a craving for its namesake. It isn't going to do much blow you away so dim sum enthusiasts are wise to look elsewhere.

Ordered the crispy tofu bao for lunch today. It was very very very salty.  When I took it back to the restaurant they told me that it was supposed to be like that.  If this is the case, unless you want to exhaust the daily recommended sodium intake I would not recommend it.

This is one of the best dumpling I have ever eaten! They could be panfried a little more, but I love the filling and the pastry. Love the chilly oil.

You really should update your info. Drive all the way from south Auckland to find you open at 12 on a Saturday and not 10 like on states on here . Not happy

Awesome little place, love the food. Convenient being 5min from work, easy for lunch and dinner. Been here many times and will keep coming back!

Ordered the pork dumplings from ubereats, so good i finished all 20 by myself, one of the bests ive had. This place deserves more good reviews. Would defs order again 😊

I need to remember to take photos!  I had a craving for dumplings for lunch on Friday and came across Dumpling Box on Menulog.  I ordered the vegetarian dumplings (fried).  The filling was full of flavour, it was a little crunchy which I thought I wouldn't enjoy but I did especially with the ginger coming through.  My let down, the Chococrepe - peanut butter, nutella, bananas, wrapped in a crepe right?  Nearly.  Filling good, pancake hard and chewy.  Was this because of Menulog?  I think the food would have been better at the venue rather than delivered.

Dumplings were average. The sauces were in a corner which made it awkward for all the customers to get sauce. There are take out containers for sauces so why not have some prepped for take away customers? I had two boxes of food and wasn't offered a plastic bag but the lady after me got offered a bag and she had one box. The pork bao was dry, where's the sauce? Had to add my own mayo. Come on guys!

Went to Dumpling Box Commerce street ; Reasonable price and size for the dumplings. All the dumplings are good but pork dumplings are the best. The pulled pork Bao is also good , good size and the pork is very tasty , would recommend to try.

They literally have the best dumplings and literally with the best price. I should be visiting this place on regular basis now. Highly highly recommended!

Not sure why this place has bad reviews, but I was starving and just happened to come across this place on my walk to the train station! <br/><br/>I ordered 6 dumplings, 2 of each flavour (pork/chicken and vege). The dumplings were so tasty! I prefer this style of dumpling to the ones you get at barilla/new flavour, the dough is much more thinner and more silky in texture. The filling was flavourful and I loved all the sauces with it. <br/><br/>I topped my dumplings with soy sauce, chilli sauce, sweet chilli AND the chilli oil (a bit of every sauce lol) but it tasted great! The chilli oil in particular has a nutty flavour which tastes amazing. <br/><br/>Can't wait to eat these dumplings again and try their baos next.

Pork dumplings - underwhelming and overcooked very watery <br/><br/>Curry Bao - very small for the price and very little filling<br/><br/>Unlikely to get again

The dumplings are great - nice and big, although much of the size is from the pastry not the filling. Still, they're very tasty and really fresh. The pulled pork bao is basic, just meat, lettuce and carrot, but tasty enough. Not sure I'd pay $6.50 again for it though.

Awesome dumplings at a great location. Having just opened I feel they underestimated their popularity and as a result they sold out of all their meat dumplings by 12.30pm. <br/><br/>That aside, the food was delicious and a pretty decent size as well. Definitely a weekly regular for me now. <br/><br/>It's definitely a pity about all the bad reviews they are getting for sharing a name with the Elliot Street store.

Just had my first lunch from The Dumpling Box. They tasted great, the price was right, and the service was fast and friendly. I will be back many times.

Just had lunch there.  I had 6 pork dumplings and they were great.  The dumplings are actually quite large and you can have all the sauce and different types of sauce you want.  I will go back.  Great quick lunch.  The staff was also super nice and friendly.

I really don't like giving bad reviews but I can 100% say that I'll never be spending my money here again. I ordered off UberEATS the tofu crepe combo that came with a 300ml drink. The crepe is literally one of those roti packets that you buy from the supermarket and pan fry. Apart from it arriving cold, it was filled with a pathetic amount of cucumber, lettuce and grated carrot and silken tofu that had absolutely no flavour. Nothing was seasoned and there was no sauce. It did come with a small amount of sweet chilli but to be honest I could've made this at home for $2 and made it taste better. I also ordered the vegetarian steamed dumplings that were extremely average. I can assure you that I will not be back.

Bought 20 Pork Dumplings and delivered by Ubereats.  Dumplings tasted pretty average TBH and overpriced at 95 cents each (c.f. Barilla dumpling at 60 cents each).  <br/><br/>Would not buy again unless price reduced or quality improved.

Terrible customer service at Elliot St store as well as dry, tasteless dumplings. You can find much better elsewhere. I would not recommend visiting new store as I doubt you will find anything different. Such a shame as I really love dumplings.

Went to buy some dumplings after a night out at Bar101 only to find one of the waiters could not stop hitting on me at the Elliot store. The dumplings were average as well, pretty disappointed. Hopefully, this store will be an improvement but not betting on it.
