Review Casablanca Cafe - Auckland

Tammy-Jade Collymore
I recently enjoyed a Mediterranean dining experience at Casablanca, and it was outstanding. The decor beautifully echoed the Mediterranean culture, and the service was top-notch. Though the restaurant was quite busy our order came quickly with multiple check-ins from staff throughout our meal! The menu was extensive, offering a variety of options for all taste buds. The cocktails were not only delicious but generous. We opted for the Lahmajun which was quite flavorful though it could have been a bit warmer. The Chicken Lunch Plate was divine, with tasty hummus and authentic tabouli. For dessert, the Baklava, albeit a tad sweet as it was served with Ice Cream, was a tasty choice. In hindsight, pairing it with coffee might have provided a nice balance. Overall, Casablanca offered a delightful combination of excellent service, affordability, Mediterranean ambiance, and delicious food and drink options. I would definitely return!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Casablanca Sylvia Park, and I was thoroughly impressed. The restaurant has a warm and inviting atmosphere, and the staff was friendly and attentive. I ordered the lamb tagine, and it was absolutely delicious. The meat was tender and flavorful, and the sauce was rich and complex. I can honestly say that it was one of the best lamb tagines I've ever had. I also had the chicken skewers, and they were also excellent. The chicken was juicy and flavorful, and the seasoning was spot-on. I highly recommend this dish to anyone who loves chicken skewers. In addition to the great food, Casablanca Sylvia Park also has a great selection of wines and cocktails. I had a glass of the Moroccan red wine, and it was perfect with my lamb tagine. Overall, I had a wonderful dining experience at Casablanca Sylvia Park. The food was excellent, the service was impeccable, and the atmosphere was perfect. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great Mediterranean meal in Auckland.

We had the best evening here last night! We came up for my Partners cousins birthday, there were 8 of us and it was a blast! The service was professional and lovely, the food was delivered very quickly, considering how busy they were. But most importantly, the food was to die for. Very tasty, very flavoursome and really well priced! They also have a delicious selection of drinks, including cocktails. I had the Boujee Bedouin, which is a lethally good Run cocky. Good gods it's a danger! Haha. Divine and elegant setting with a menu that I would like to try EVERYTHING from. A must visit place!

We loved this restaurant. A lovely place to gather with family and eat really tasty food in a comfortable environment. We each had something different to eat and each plate was delicious rounded off with Turkish coffee and baklava. Delicious. Definitely going back next time I'm in Sylvia Park.

We came in for a early lunch and was very pleasantly surprised. Awesome food and test it service and really nice atmosphere and Sylvia Park. We managed to sneak the dog in and sit on the outside part so it was really good.

Beef skewers are delicious, and pizza is nice too. Both are quite filling. Mocktail are great. Prefer Fas Bleu to Mango Citrus Twist. Good service and nice environment.

fastfoodfriday and #foodiebumz are back with dinner at Casablanca Sylvia Park ( missed ya Theresa Stowers 😁). A mix of Mediterranean, Turkish, Greek and more. Pides, dips, grazing platter with assorted meats, kebabs, stuffed bell peppers, a slow cooked lamb tagine and seafood too. Unanimously satisfied with all those mains. 2 Affogatos, 2 fondants and a plate of ice-cream for dessert. And Turkish coffee with traditional Turkish delight to finish off a gastronomic treat. Staff wonderful. Couldn't fault the night really. 9/10 coconuts ppl. Check them out. 😁👌🤙

Been here a few times over the years. On my most recent visit I had lunch with a girlfriend and Sylvia Park was the most convenient for the both of us distance wise as she doesn't live in town. This is a good spot for a nibble or a meal once you're done with shopping. Turkish pomegranate tea was a first for me as I'd never heard of it but it was a nice change from the usual apple. I really liked it and would order it again. Ordered the mezze platter (which is designed to share) with the pulled lamb. It was delish but should've also had pita bread (or some other bread) as the pide wasn't enough. I also wasn't a fan of the pickled cabbage. It was too chunky and should be finely chopped or shredded. Our waitress was very nice and she looked after us well.

I tried the Passionfruit Daiquiri and the Citron Chicken Tagine and it was amazing! Amazing atmosphere and very helpful and kind staff..

Usually I love this restaurant, food is awesome and staff members are very polite. Last time we ordered Jordan Chicken (we never order/eat lamb), chicken is the only meat my partner and myself would eat. They brought us Chicken Rumi, which was excellent and Jordan Lamb.. we told the waiter about the mistake which has been made. She apologised and that's it.. They didn't offer to replace the meal, because the kitchen was closed by that time. We told her that we are starving and we eat only chicken, but she only said she will not charge us for this meal. She didn't suggest anything else that they could make quickly, until my partner spoke to the chef. At the end when we were paying for our meal, she asked me "How was the chicken".. We don't know because we haven't received a chicken we have ordered.. I would recommend this restaurant, because food is good, just make sure you go there early and that you get the dish you order. And the right bill as well - in the past they even gave us a wrong bill.

Me and my wife had dinner with two friends yesterday. We had Jordan hummus, chicken meatballs and fries with aioli. Meal was alright but not so good. Then one of our friend found a “hair” in her meal which she then lost her appetite, we complained to the waiter about it, he didn’t apologize and he said he’ll talk to the chef about it and never came back. After meal we went to the counter to pay, after we paid our bill I reminded the bad experience my friend had, person at counter said he’ll give a discount which was a very rude answer. My friend told me they only gave them a $8 (deduction on the drink they ordered) discount. They should have deducted the full plate value for such incident. I was the one who chose this restaurant and recommended to my friend, this situation made me very uncomfortable. We started fresh, fine, enjoyed most of the meal and end with a very bad experience. I’ll be thinking twice to go their with my wife again but will never go with friends and never recommend to anyone. If I ever go there with my wife again it’s because of their meals alright for me, but customer care sucks big time. Cheers

Recently went to Casablanca following the renovations. Still loved the atmosphere but very disappointed in my dish as well as the response. Harissa Prawns were so dry from being over cooked and when providing feedback was given a $1 Turkish delight as compensation. Very disappointing when we frequently dine here.

I have enjoyed Casablanca on a number of occasions for dinner, and now breakfast, and it is always great tasting food and good service. I heartily recommend it as an oasis for food and drink.

Been there a few times, always enjoy food, service and atmosphere. Until yesterday we went for Sunday brunch, a staff with no emotion on face not even a smile! The impression I had was that she was forced to work. I asked for more explanation about food. The answer I received was her action pointing to the menu and said "as description!!!!" People come to restaurants ,not only for food but also the nice and friendly service.
Kylie Burling
Fantastic vegetarian food here, and wonderful service. The food was perfectly cooked and beautifully presented, and tasted divine. It's often hard to find a good selection of vegetarian food at restaurants, so come and try Casablanca's amazing vegetarian food.

Thank you to the lovely team at Casablanca for pulling out all the stops on Thursday night! Mum and I had half an hour to have dinner before an 8PM movie and the meals we ordered were delivered very quickly and were simply delicious! A special mention to Jasmine the waitress for her wonderful service!

Staff there are always welcoming and very friendly, the food is amazing, i love how all the meat is tender and juicy, only downside is that theyre always busy so sometimes its hard finding a place to sit, but otherwise excellent service especially every time i come with my baby the staff always accomodate to my situation and help me out

Yesterday was my second time to eat at Casablanca. Yesterday i chose to celebrate my birthday there and we choose to have their set menu. There were 7 of us and the food was so delicious. We enjoyed the food and we were so full. Service is excellent and the staff was friendly. I will definitely come back with my other friends and family.

Went there last Saturday with few friends. My meal + dessert were amazing. I loved it. Atmosphere was wonderful but waiters were a bit slow. ..took ages for our waitress to take our dessert order..other than that, I would definitely go there again

Fabulous place to lunch in dine or anything in between. Delish food, service with a smile & amazing ambience 👍🏼👍🏼

First time at Sylvia Park Casablanca, compared with North West one, this one brings the name down, crap service asked three times for our table to be cleared after already waiting a good 20mins after finishing our starters and compared with North West, Sylvia Park Casablanca needs to do how they should present food and service. Don't recommend Sylvia Park go to North West for a way better experience.

When we are in Akld, Casablanca is always our go-to place to eat. If you ever decide to expand across the ditch please consider GC. It is simply the best

Had an anniversary dinner tonight, Muhammet was our waiter. As usual the food, the service, the atmosphere was perfect! The only regret was, I should have ordered more of their awesome desert
Foodaficionado
Was not a huge fan of their tagines as I felt the seasoning had a bit too much of cinnamon for my taste. I have previously had their falafel lunch plate which was tastier. I do love their baklava and make it a point to always have some.

Good food. Waiter kept on circling around while we were chatting as if they wanted us to leave (it wasn’t that crowded and we were finishing up) probably wouldn’t go back to be honest

Authentic Persian food, tasty lamb kabeb, relax ambience, reasonably priced and friendly service, highly recommend to all

One of favourite lunch stop at Sylvia park mall - I love the lunch platters at Casablanca where get a bit of everything on a plate. <br/><br/>Like: <br/>1. Lunch plate menu where you can order lamb or chicken with Turkish bread or a wrap. <br/><br/>2. My friend tried their chicken which came with a generous side salad and white rice. <br/><br/>3. We shared a lovely Turkish Apple tea. <br/><br/>4. Love the decor, comfy seats with plush cushions if you get a booth and the general ambience of the restaurant. Always makes me feel like it’s a good relaxing catch up place. <br/><br/>Would be perfect if in the evening it took on an Arabian nights theme, they ramped up the music, added some belly dancers and rented a shisha pipe or two on their menu.

My colleagues and I spent our Friday night at Casablanca Sylvia Park. We were happy being served by friendly staff and the food was so satisfying too. The dessert is not to be missed - their chocolate caramel and carrot cake slices (not in the picture) as well as the choc fondant with ice cream are to die for! The creme brulee was nice but lacking of a good crack. Overall it was a really enjoyable night with good people and good food.

Came here to dine on a Wednesday night and was surprised to find it quite crowded compared to the neighbouring restaurants. Ordered the Iskender and Greek Meatballs but was unfortunately a bit disappointed... The pulled lamb was nice, but the vegetables were rather bland - if not for the sauces it would be flavourless. The meatballs were quite crumbly and average in taste too.<br/><br/>For dessert we ordered the creme brulee, baklava and Turkish delights. The creme brulee wasn't not too sweet (which is my preference). The other two desserts were too sweet for my liking. <br/><br/>Spent over $70 for this dinner and could not say I got my money's worth ☹️ Definitely expected better given the restaurant's high ratings on here!
Levi
The meatballs were very disappointing - very average taste served with very bland vegetables - not at all worth $27.<br/>The lamb was tender and nice flavour though.<br/>The cream brûlée was bland and did not taste very creamy.<br/>Won’t be returning at that price.

once we ordered, food was served what seemed like.... instantly, it was amazingly quick indeed, waiter was helpful... a lovely experience.

Casablance is in Auckland near sylvia park mt Wellington. Ambience was quite good and awesome. Once you have been here the ambience is so seductive. Their service is excellent and the food is delectable.

Wow, the meals are really good. not your run of the mill restaurant but defiantly worth a try.

Very nice place in Sylvia Park mall and I definitely will go back again. The lamb shank is a little dry but the size is huge. Dessert is also good.

Love this place. The environment is lovely. I always come here for lunch. The tabbouleh salad with meat is so fresh and tasty! Would definitely recommend this place to anyone.
Neha Mahabir
Great food, and appreciate how the chef customised our meals with mash potato as a substitute to the original meals.

We got in and waited for quite sometime before someone came out and took our order. Food portion was bigger than I expected so no complaints in that department. It was just out pizza we ordered . It literally came out like how it is in the picture. And couldn’t really get a slice out because it was crumbling. The base was not a base at all and it was just crumbling. This was a hit and miss place for me . Heard great things about it ... but today it didn’t live up to the hype . Build ups

We had reserved a table for 15 approximately 4 days ahead and they had taken my details and I told them we wanted to sit outside in the court yard. On the day, we were running late so called to change booking, and... they had no details for it...<br/><br/>But they sorted it anyway,I'm thankful that I had called otherwise it could have been a mess. The dinner though was amazing. Flawless service on the night, food came out at once and was delicious. We all enjoyed ourselves. Amazing experience. I had the chicken kebab and although it sounds basic, the chicken was juicy and the harissa was delicious. So good that two of us came back a week later.<br/><br/>Second visit, was a little less enjoyable. The lady who took our order repeated it to us at least 4 times and then asked someone else to come and confirm again.... tagines were average, nothing to really write about...
Shihana
The waitstaff was amazing. She knew it was getting hard for us to order with just seeing the menu. She assisted the menu with zomato. The food was just amazing

Pretty much everything I’ve tried so far has been great! Nice and usually busy for Sunday brunch too but the Turkish coffee is worth it if you need a strong espresso hit
Dani
Came here for breakfast and ordered the french toast and the creamy mushrooms with an addition of bacon. Both meals were flavoursome and filling and I would definitely come back to try something else on the menu; I really enjoyed the food here. Really welcoming waiters and cozy/comfortable vibe.
Megan Durrant
Food was alright. But the price for the eggs bene was $15 add bacon and it goes up to $22. Which i would not have minded paying if you got more than a single rasher. $7 for a small piece of bacon is horrendous. All in all the food was ok not great but not terrible, just overpriced.
Karen Stephen
everything tasted great, perfectly seasoned. I'm just not into couscous, I'm more of a rice is life kinda person but everything else was great & I cant stop thinking about the almond tartlet for desert it was awesome.

Really friendly staff! Beautiful interior! Portions are huge too! They make the best ice coffee as well ☺️ would definitely come back again to try out their desserts!

Staff 5/10 <br/>Food 5/10 <br/>Environment 8/10 <br/><br/>The lamb Shanks I thought tasted “odd” & not pleasant<br/>Feel they’re overly priced for the food they serve

Atmosphere : 4<br/>Food : 4<br/>Service 3.5 <br/>Coffee : meh <br/><br/>Always come here when I come to Sylvia park .. almost like a ritual.<br/><br/>I love Casablanca because it offers a taste of Mediterranean cuisine which is something exotic (for me) that I wouldn’t eat on a regular basis. <br/><br/>Coffee wasn’t great .. but the food was 😁 <br/>

We were looking for a new experience, food that we've never tried before. We were pleased we chose here to have that dining experience! The waitress was super friendly and explained every single dish to us with great detail making it easy to chose what we wanted to eat! My partner had the scotch fillet kababs they were delicious and juicy! I had the lamb iskender and that had a generous amount of lamb. We finished off with a Turkish coffee and the creamy creme brulee. The only reason why I'm giving it a 4 not a 5 is the fact they wouldn't let us directly tip out waitress! She really made our experience there delightful and we wanted to tip her ourselves but the manager on wouldn't allow that but everything else was great! Thankyou we will be back.<br/>

My family hardly ever tries the healthy Mediterranean cuisine, but was brave enough this time around.<br/><br/>I ordered chicken tagine, which I thought was okay. The couscous tasted yummy when eaten with olives. The quarter chicken leg was humongous, I was full right to the sphincter of my stomach when I finished. I had Turkish pomegrante tea for my drink - it was pleasantly sweet!<br/><br/>Wifey had meatballs, which was too salty for her. I tasted it and somewhat disagreed. For me it had just the right flavour.<br/><br/>My son had spaghetti bolognaise, which staff prepared to perfection following his allergy-related food restrictions.<br/><br/>The dining experience was boosted by great service rendered by wait staff. The kid's entertainment pack (bag with crayons, stickers and activity booklet) kept my son grounded and occupied in his chair.<br/><br/>We will likely come back and try their popular dishes.<br/><br/>

A well thought out space. Good seating arrangements and enough noise cancelling materials so that it was not too loud. Good place to sit, relax and have a conversation. Good food that were largely portioned. More staff were required as it was difficult to get someone's attention.

I decided to try something new and I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the vegan dolma and it was so tasty and filling. I only wish there was more vegan options - I originally asked to order the Fattoush Salad (which j d bad vegan in other restaurants) and I was advised they couldn’t make it. The dolma was the only vegan option in the Mains menu which is why I chose it, however it worked out as I was stoked!

I cannot express how much I love this place, the food is always fresh and decent portions. Never have I ever been disappointed. Always bring my friends here and introduce them to this place and they always come back and are in praises. The best thing about this place is how welcoming everyone is and the way they greet you! Lovely cozy warm vibe!

A favourite restaurant of mine. Everything is delicious; our family favourites are the lamb wrap, cyprus salad and meatballs. Also love the Turkish teas and the mezze platter. Service is always excellent and atmosphere is pleasant too. Highly recommend. Will definitely be back soon!

Disclaimer- If you have had a homemade Tagine, you are ruined for life cause no restaurant can do justice to it.<br/>Food :<br/>Cumin roasted cauliflower -8.5/10<br/>Falafel - 8/10<br/>Meat Tagine - 7/10<br/>Veg Tagine - 5/10 (boiled veggies in tomato soup, disappointing)<br/>Ambiance - 10/10 love love love the intimate fine dine layout.<br/>Service - 9/10<br/>Not sure will go back so much for Mains but definitely for drinks and entres.

Came by for dinner just before a movie. We had pre-booked but it wasn't busy so there were a few tables available. We had one inside by the door.<br/><br/>The menu had quite a few interesting dishes particularly the tagines but I ended up trying the Greek meatballs. The dish was a platter of nicely seasoned and cooked vegetables with quite a few meatballs around the plate, covered with sauce. The meatballs were quite tasty and had a nice texture to them. Friends got the tagine and they looked nice, particularly the beef cheek one. The lamb cutlet was also nice but was a bit thin. The star of the meal was the baklava though. There was enough syrup to give it a chewy texture and it wasn't overly sweet. Nice roasted nut flavours and also still crispy. The only problem was that it was a fairly small portion, just about a mouthful. It was still a really nice way to end a meal.<br/><br/>The service was friendly and it was very easy to get their attention when required.

Enjoyed a night out with our work team dining at this place. The decor was nice. The service was real good. The food was everything I expected. My char grilled kebabs was cooked perfectly as requested and had a good mixture of sauces, spices and yoghurt. Would definitely return again in future.
CrazyCatLady_EmmaC
Had brunch there and my order of moorish eggs were really good. It was huge portion so I end up packing half of it home. Lovely fixture and deco inside the restaurant and friendly staff.
Vaqara_Kana
Fresh ingredients and bold flavours which immediately transport you to Casablanca or the streets of Marrakesch. Decor is calming and staff are efficient and friendly. Dine here if you're hungry as the dishes are filling and comforting.

Lovely Mediterranean restaurant in Sylvia park shopping center. Lively vibe and nice ambience. <br/><br/>They have a great range of food selection and lots of healthy options such as DF/GF/VF.<br/> <br/>Highly recommend the cherkez chicken. The chicken was tender and well seasoned, the tarator sauce on top was super tasty. <br/><br/>Only downside is that the portions are quite small.<br/><br/>Food taste: 8/10<br/>Food presentation: 7/10<br/>Service: 7/10<br/>Location: 7/10<br/>Ambience: 7/10<br/>Price $25 per person (excl alcohol)

Along the alley where all the restaurants of Sylvia Park Shopping Mall are located, Casablanca stood out amongs them as the place looked like a sanctuary especially if youre into Mediterranean food. I got the lunch special where they offered a roti/pita like break with slow cooked lamb and fresh salad. First bite was amazing especially the lamb but soon the salad's sourness took over. It was too sour for my taste. Killed the heaviness of the lamb, yes, but it was too much. Aside from that, we also ordered a bowl of fried with aoli. This! This is one of the best aoili I've had in awhile. Maybe because it was fresh but maybe it paired well with my lamb dish.

One of the very best place to dine in Sylvia Park.<br/><br/>Excellent food. Generous servings and great coffee. Definitely value for money.<br/><br/>Everything is top notch , from Service to food to ambience.<br/><br/>Highly recommended and the desert is a must too.<br/>

Went here at a decently busy time, was expecting a long wait but it came out very very quickly. I ordered the tangine and it didn’t quite live up to expectations. I didn’t have that fall off the bone melt in the mouth that I usually look for. Tbh the chips were fantastic tho

It’s hard to know what you feel like when your girlfriend eats like a sparrow and you’ve eaten at most of the places in stone throw- so we went with the first idea that popped up and returned to Casablanca for the first time in years. I’ve been pretty lucky lately. Seeing the food trail from production to table I’ve got a little idea of who does it right and these guys know their stuff. The beef cheek tagine hit all the right notes singing joy from the plate to my belly. And the platter- a great option when you want to demolish the menu.. I’ve made and eaten hundreds of versions of hummas and woow I was still plesently surprised. This place hadn’t been here for over a decade for no reason. Thank you .
Prashant Datt
Came here and was pleasantly surprised. Wasn’t expecting much but the food is amazing!<br/><br/>The service was fast and coffee was also nice and strong here.<br/><br/>There were a few staff here who seemed to be having a bad day (slightly rude)...but still enjoyed our meal!
Tony Shi
Had the beef cheek tagine and loved it! The beef was super tender and melts in your mouth. So soft you can cut it with a spoon. Great depth of flavour too. Couscous wasn't bad, a little bit overcooked.<br/>Looking forward to going again.
Karen
Yummiest meditarrian food I have had in while. The service was good and food came out fast! Decent sized portions too. Will be back for sure!

Calamari salad is amazing. Good price and portion size is perfect. Great atmosphere and very friendly/helpful staff. Definitely would go back and try other dish on their menu. However ordered lemon lime & bitters with my work colleagues and I must say $6.50 is overpriced for me. Overall satisfied customer!
Aleen
We had the Mezze platter and two house made lemon lime drinks. The platter portion was very generous and filling, the however could have been a bit sweet in my taste. Other then that, a really really good place to eat!<br/>Would definitely be going back <br/>ambience 9.5/10 <br/>Staff 10/10<br/>Food 10/10<br/>

Went for Valentine's dinner. Restaurant was very busy but the staff did really well to attend to all tables without taking too long. The food came out pretty quickly as well which was amazing. I tried the chicken kebabs and the Harissa prawns. And I loved both dishes. The prawns are meant to be an entree but come with 5 pretty big prawns which was more than enough for a main. Taste was so good, sauce had a little spice to it. Would get it again. Chicken was very juicy and went well with the sauces and condiments provided. They even gave me a Valentine's rose at the end of the dinner. Really enjoyed this place

Cuisine: #middleeasternfood #mediterraneanfood #turkish <br/>Food Ordered: #mezzeplatter #chargrilledchickenkebabs<br/>We usually try our best to dine and try a new place instead of our favourite go to places. Casablanca was on our list from a very long time and it was a sudden plan after shopping we went in without any prior reservation or so. <br/>We loved the decor and the feel you get when you enter, their counter and interior is beautiful and you get a Turkish vibe. The staff were very courteous and friendly. Since we went after 4pm in the evening we got to know we had missed the lunch hour; I really wanted to try their #falafelwrap which the staff told they usually do wraps during lunch hour, so that will be our on our next list!<br/><br/>We try playing safe at middle eastern restaurants by ordering the all time fav #MezzePlatter one can’t go wrong with that and it’s sufficient to binge on. But since we get excited we also ordered their Char grilled Chicken kebabs.<br/><br/>Food was delicious and fresh! We loved the dips and breads. I would totally recommend this place if you want to enjoy a nice evening. We like the fact that their Menu is not too long; all the major dishes & popular ones are their for you to choose 👍🏻😊 Casablancacafe1942

Had a work dinner here. There was a surprising amount of food for what I believe was only around $40 per person? their food is very fresh and well seasoned though all the flavors kind of run into each after after awhile like they taste kind of similar. stand out for me was the Prawn dish with the bread. The sauce complemented the prawns beautifully and was a very powerful dish. I was quite fond of their fries as well (shoestrings with a nice side of aioli to go with) The lamb mains were MASSIVE and even with 12 people there was heaps left to take away. Really awesome place if you're looking for a group get together or just a casual dinner at sylvia park.

It was great place for lunch:) i had calamari and chicken menu (waiter recommended). Were great! It was quite big portion and the salad was fresh. Feel healthy lol

Great place for catching with friends! Definitely recommend with vegetarian options and for those who want to explore different food options. Also friendly staff and excellent service.

Smashed avocado was really good - pomegranate seeds added a delicious and interesting flavour. Good gluten and dairy free options clearly labelled on the menu.

The good reviews i read was all right. Loved casablanca! <br/><br/>I tried this restaurant last week (21 december’18) and was not disappointed. The average price for two i think was for $40, but when youre dining for 3 people you get to try more and pay less - which was amazing and totally worth it !! <br/><br/>Food looked and tasted good! The service was good too! The ambiance was amazing, very relaxing and nice! <br/><br/>I would definitely come back here so my partner and other friends could try it.

Very nice place, Great service. Waitress who served us was great. thanks for her food service. Owner was good too . Thank you chef for great food.

great place for a bite to eat, dishes are well presented and the quality remains consistent. my personal favourite is the cherkez chicken - however everything on offer is great : )

I have to say this restaurant totally impressed me. I never expected the food before I visit a new restaurant especially when I knew they are serving the Mediterranean cuisine. But their decoration style attracted me, we came inside and be told that only 1 hour for us to have our dinner cause most tables have been reserved. We ordered two starts two main courses but only done with two starts. The flavor was not strong as I expected may be perfect for kiwis. If you are looking for some different tastes, it wouldn’t let you down.
Tony Ha - Personal Trainer/Foodie
Had huge expectations from this and walked away feeling meh. I had the lamb tagine and shared the chicken skewers. For the money paid its really tiny portions. The tagine was very odd tasting and bland. The kebab however was very nice and packed with flavour. The hummus and bread was average. For just over $70 for these 3 dishes it's over priced and I was left very underwhelmed especially since I had a friend rave on about it and that I had to try. Sorry but I'd say first time and last time as for the money paid I think I'd have been more satisfied and filled up with something from the surrounding eateries at sylva park.

Amazing experience with good food. Portions were worth the money value. It was difficult to chose the mains and there is a lot more to try. Good options for vegetarians as well.

Usually one of our favourite places for dinner but it has stepped down in taste recently. Most recently my chicken tagine was quite soupy. Staff service was good

Love going to Casablance for a brunch. friendly and love the atmosphere. i always eat the chicken lunch set , well seasoned chicken and the parsley salad? they taste very unique, but tasty goes really well with the bread and chicken. the french toast was one of the best i tasted. there food is alway right amount of everything and right combination.<br/>

Ive been to Casablanca Orewa and Westgate and always happy. My first visit to Sylvia park one <br/><br/>1. The place settings were placed on our dirty table after the appetiser. <br/>2. We ordered Tagine and it didn’t come in a Tagine. The management there decided to eliminate the serving of the Tagine menued items in an actual Tagine. So better off to simply change the name to Lamb or chicken stew. <br/><br/>3. The the mezze share platter needs more bread, a lot of dips remain after consuming the bread hence we had to order extra bread. <br/><br/>4. The Anatolian bride soup delicious. <br/><br/>5. The Falafel was practically raw inside and the dolma needs more cooking time. <br/><br/>6. They sell Moroccan style jewellery in the restaurant, that is very tacky , placed on a table in the middle of the restaurant . I’ve never seen that before. <br/><br/>

We come here quite a bit for breakfast or brunch. Food is just ok, nothing special. At our last visit, we ordered a Turkish pizza to share. Tasted bland and the crust was a bit soggy. Ambience was nice and warm. Food below average.

I have been here many times over the years and its's always hit and miss. This time I came with my family for a birthday dinner. We all shared the dips platter which was really nice, loved each of the different dips, the all had beautiful flavours and the bread that came with it was nice too, however, with the large bowl of dip  you give, you really can't give three slices of bread. We ordered more bread for our table of 8 but still couldn't finish the dips. For main I had the Chargrilled Steak skewers with mashed potato. The steak was super fatty tasting and had no flavour really, the red sauce that came on the plate was average and only slightly inhanced the steak. The yogurt sauce was delicious though. Mashed potatoes were underseasoned. The decor change inside is very dissapointing, the beautiful morrocan lamps, cushions and colours being removed makes it any old restaurant and looks nothing special anymore.

The food tastes fine but there’s really nothing special. I love their Turkish Pomegranate tea though. The ambience is also nice for dining or drinking but a bit noisy so I don’t recommend it for people who wants a quiet chilled place.

I’ve been their regular customer and did my 20th birthday there as well. However, recently the food wasn’t good as it used to be. I love their Turkish apple tea.
Nadz_berry_crunch
The taste was alright. The mains tasted better than entree. The entree platter was average. The falafel and dolma did not have much flavour. The spinach and feta filo pastry was pretty good.

Flavours were alright but I specifically asked and requested to have less oil for my Greek meatballs dish as I easily get acid reflux from fatty foods but my dish ended up being drowned with grease. On a positive note though, my mums dish came with generous portions of pan fried fish and the pide bread with hummus dish turned out to be my favourite dish of the day. Last time I came, I ordered the chicken tangine and that was great but this time the Greek meatballs with roasted Vegas were too oily for my liking

Dishes look very appetising. Actually looks amazing. But the flavours are disappointing. I don’t know who adds those other reviews for this place to get such high ratings but for me their flavours are a no go. It is actually a bit over priced as well considering it isn’t flavourful. But I just say the ingredients are really good quality. That’s for sure. Quality of food 5/5. Looks 5/5. Taste tho probably 2/5.

Lovely relaxing place for lunch, food was lovely n staff attentive. Our table ordered Fish n Chips, Shank and a lamb lunch plate all cooked perfectly 🤙

Absolutely loved this place.<br/>Amazing food, beautiful ambiance, friendly staff.<br/><br/>We had the haloumi bruschetta, the calamari mezze, and the lamb iskender. Absolutely loved the calamari and the lamb. Both had great flavour and the portions were generous. The haloumi bruschetta was good but perhaps not worth the price tag. <br/><br/>Looking forward to going back to Casablanca soon!<br/><br/><br/>

I absolutely loved this place. The feel and ambience is very comfortable and classy. The food was amazing!! We ordered Lahmajun and Cherkez Chicken and I still couldn’t get over how delicious Cherkez Chicken was. The service was okayish, it was a little disappointment that they didn’t serve us water or offer the menu when we came..we kept waiting for a while..it was when new customers on the side table arrived, our table was attended. But then I understand mistakes can happen at times, therefore even after that I have given 4 stars.

I loved my meal here! I had the cherkez chicken if I remember correctly and it was delicious. A generous size for a 'small dish' that's only $17. we also had the street styled pizza but I can't remember the name of it. But my favourite was the bread and dips - all dips were amazing.<br/><br/>Everything was delicious and fresh! I'd definitely come back again.

The bedouin lamb was great. Very tasty and I loved how much variety of flavors was in it. The baklava was also great. The place was very beautiful and the toilets were very clean.<br/><br/>The Beef Tagine and Creme Brulee was a bit bland though.
Rochelle Holland
Great service and tasty meals. Love the decor.<br/>We had the North African Falafel and Lahmajun (Turkish pizza) to share and it was very enjoyable. Great flavours.

The food here has never disappointed me. Been here three times now and have tried the fattoush the chicken kebab and the salad with a side of halloumi. Divine.<br/><br/>My friend ordered something with lamb and she said it was OK.

Been to this place quite often back then, and decided to have brunch here yesterday. I always love their calamari salad, but yesterday it was quite oily. All the salad leafs were soggy because of the oil. My partner had a lamb tagine and he liked it even though it was his first time. The baklava ice cream was just too sweet and not that special, just baklava with vanilla ice cream.

Girls night dinner. Decor contemporary and wonderfully bright and cheerful. Small plates to share across the table were perfect for this night. The food was delicious and different. Tangine lamb was just yum! Actually so was everything else we ordered. Portion sizes and prices allowed us to select several dishes. The staff were friendly and unobtrusive. Great value for money.

Sorry to do it but here comes the negative review given our experience today. <br/>We came here once a few years ago and wanted to come back to relive the memories. Both times the food was great, so no complaints there. Although the mains can be a bit pricy we found the side salad to be excellent value. <br/>The ambience was also lovely so those are their saving graces. <br/>What brought this rating down is the service we received today. We were given the wrong drink and instead of simply apologizing and bringing us the correct drink the waitress decided to ARGUE with us; not just once, but actually to the point of insisting that my partner said the wrong thing when I had heard what he said, and he had also pointed to it on the menu when ordering (the drink we were given wasn’t even in the same section of menu he pointed to).<br/>I’ve worked in hospitality so I know that you do not argue with a customer in this way even if you know you are right. Sometimes if it’s something as simple as changing a drink, just apologize, smile and get the correct drink or risk losing the customer for good. <br/>Totally ruined our otherwise pleasant dining experience.

Overall definitely 5 star! Very deliciously food and excellent customer service! Today my friends and I went to have lunch to celebrate her birthday at Casablanca. I would like to give my friend a big surprise, so I asked the manager to bring the cake for us once we finished our food. When we finished our food, the manager not only brought the cake he also added very nice candles. He even hided the cake to.make everything mysterious 😊 . My friend was very happy and touched. <br/>Many thanks and we had a very good time 😊<br/>

Food: 4/5<br/>We ordered a total of four mains and a platter. For the mains, we got the chicken hummus dish, the beef cheek tangine, lamb tangine and the iskender. <br/>Personally my favourites were the beef tangine and the chicken hummus. The beef was suuuper tender and juicy. The couscous may have been bland by itself, however when eaten together with the jous, it was perfectly seasoned. The chicken was also crispy and tender, where he hummus was smooth and tasted fresh. The bread was toasted and was soft when bitten in.<br/>However, the lamb tangine was a little tough, and the gaminess was quite strong. The dish didn’t really have enough sauce to fully season the couscous, so we ended up not finishing that. The iskender was good but wasn’t outstanding for me.<br/>The platter had a variety of small nibbles with 2 types of hummus and a yogurt dip. It seemed simple and a nice dish to share with a group.<br/>The portion sizes were larger than expected (compared to the photos) and we were left very pleased.<br/>The service was good, where the waiters were very prompt when we needed anything.<br/><br/>Overall would definitely come back again!!!<br/>

Good service and tasty food. Ordered the cherkez chicken which was so delicious I could go back and order 10 of them. The hummus that they use is amazing and are very generous with the amount they give.<br/>Would definately be back

Had lunch in Casablanca with officemate. Atmosphere definitely best for a good lunch out/catch up. We sat outside and I Impressed with their new interior. <br/><br/>We were ordering different dishes and everyone seems satisfied with what they ordered.<br/><br/>I had a chicken tagine and flavour was quite delicious (Despite of the fact I was a bit aprehensive in the beginning as the food wasnt what I imagine/had in mind, my bad!)<br/><br/>I would like to go back and order other dishes, probably try their Lavash Wrap or lunch Plate (as I spot lots of people ordering these!)<br/><br/><br/>

This place is great. Has beautiful decor and atmosphere. Very traditional looking with Turkish vibes. I’ve been here a few times and I love their kebab dish, tastes amazing. I even crave it sometimes. The meat pizza tastes good but was a bit soft for my liking and I didn’t understand the supposed garnish on top?? My friend had the lamb Tagine that I tried off her and it tastes really good but eat it quick because it’s not so great cold. Their coffees are bad, they need a better coffee barista, I actually had to return mine. It looked great but tastes like milk and burnt coffee. So overall great food, great service. Just avoid the coffee.
JDM
My colleagues and I have visited this place for a corporate dinner and did not like their service at all. The waitress was disinterested, rude and unprofessional in behaviour.
Mezza B
Good timely service. Ordered a lamb meal for mains. Tasty and satisfying. Reasonable prices and good spaces to sit. Our group of 7 adults and 3 children opted to sit outside, they quickly joined 3 tables to accommodate our group and the staff were very friendly.

I was super disappointed when this place was closed but fortunately it has reopened and it's looking better then ever! I've been here for dinner a couple of times before, it's a great atmosphere. Their seating is awesome and I've never been disappointed with the service.<br/><br/>Today we had breakfast here (which I didn't know they had). I ordered the Mediterranean Omelette and my friend had the Eggs Benedict. I love my omelette especially because all the veges were cooked with the egg not just rolled inside. My friend enjoyed her dish. I also had the Turkish Apple tea, I've had this overseas before and haven't found it anywhere as good in NZ but this was pretty great.<br/><br/>I'd definitely be coming back 😁😁 <br/><br/>Edit: I just wanted to add a bit about my favourite lunch/dinner meal - Scotch fillet Char grill kebabs. Amazing every time. I cannot fault. I also cannot get enough of the Turkish Apple Tea!!
Jamie Blackman
Great room, great food, good service.  Mezze is a must for starters, and the Iskender stands out as the best thing on the menu; I really cannot say enough nice things about that dish.  It's an absolutely perfect rendition of what is, to my mind, the very top dish in Turkish cuisine, and I commend the chef for his skill.I didn't give a higher rating because it's a bit overpriced for a restaurant at the mall, but the rent is probably astronomical.

This is a spot my and my family like to eat at when we come to Sylvia Park. My mum usually takes friends and family here. The food is always awesome and the decor is very nice. Staff are always friendly and attentive. They have a chocolate and caramel cake that we get almost everytime we come here which is one of our fav things to get here its really good! I usually get the kumru burger as I usually come here for lunch but have been here for dinner lately with family and ordered a bunch of things. We had ordered the mezze and the dips platter to start. I then ordered the iskender for main. I then had the coffee and fig mousse for dessert. The desserts were quite big in size and quite moderately priced which was a positive. All the food was flavourful and delicious. Would def recommend.

Starting from a very nice and friendly staff going to an amazing food. Lamb fattoush which I ordered was full of flavours with such a tender meat. Even the pomegranate tea was delicious. Really good spent money.

Was invited here by a friend suggesting this place.<br/>I would say he had a good suggestions,<br/><br/>We were welcomed and accomodated a seating in a quick manner, has seating indoor and outdoor.<br/>Nice themed decor.<br/>Food order was taken and delivered in a timely manner.<br/><br/>Food tastes great, we had a selection of Meza and lamb dish, all tasted well.<br/><br/>Place seemed hygienic.<br/>Service is professional.<br/>Moderately priced.<br/><br/>Would recommend!

We really like this place! The ambiance is really good and the people working here are friendly. Most of the dishes are really nice. We like to platter for 2, tabouleh and humus are really nice. Last time I ordered Spanakopita which I didn't like so much. Not sure whether it was fresh. Overall a nice place to go to.

I go to Sylvia Park quite often and have never really paid attention to this place, until just recently. Casablanca is a cosy place, nothing flash but has nice ambience. <br/>I wasn't feeling adventurous so just ordered fish and chips- the portion was great value for money. Fish was well seasoned and I had no complaints. Our drinks were huge, also good value for money. <br/><br/>Great place for a decent meal, will definitely be back to try some tapas!
Lillian Mehta
Came here last weekend to try for the first time. Service was quick and friendly, and food came out reasonably quick too. The vegetarian filo pastry things were really good (can't remember the exact name) and the lamb shank Tagine was really good. Would come back to try something different again 🙂

Had lunch here once and had the Calamari Salad and also tried the hummus, it is quite pricey but the food is great, the environment takes me back to Morocco. Food was great, loved it.

Great customer service. Very good Mediterranean food. Took a Greek guy there once and he loved it! Good ambience and prices are acceptable for its location and food offerings.

Outstanding service on a busy Saturday lunch run, we were served by a lovely blonde waitress with perfect eyebrows and a very attentive young Maori man who went over and above for our table. The food was amazing, although it wasn't the best I have ever had with slightly doughy bread, my eggs benedict was tasty and my partner had the best French toast he's ever had in his life! (Definitely a must have). The best coffee in Auckland is served here. It's a must go!
Ashmita_N
Had the Meze platter which was very filling, but wish there was more bread with it. The Kumru burger was very delicious, loved the sujuk sausages with halloumi 😍. Waitress was lovely!

The beautiful decor would be the initial aspect to lure you into dining at this gorgeous restaurant, whether or not it's enough to keep you there is another. For me, the service is the decider between choosing to leave or seat ourselves. More than often the service we receive is below average even with five or so waiting staff wandering around bickering amongst themselves with a restaurant filled with less than six tables occupied with hungry diners. If you're willing to overlook this aspect you'll get to experience great food that looks as pretty as it tastes. Prices are reasonable as the serving sizes are generous and always of great tasting quality.

A Lovely evening out where we were surprised by the amazing food and by the amazing ambiance of the restaurant. Will be going back there again for sure.
The Cheesy Ravioli
Three of us visited for lunch on a busy Sunday, the food was better than expected (for someone who doesn't often try new dishes). The service was great too, very attentive considering how busy they were. Initially the chicken on my dish was under-cooked (make sure to check this), so they brought out a brand new one within minutes, no hassles. I was feeling pleasantly full as the meal was the perfect size, but then they brought out a Baklava dessert on the house (due to the chicken incident), which was absolutely divine. Will be going again.

Food here is delicious. I can't remember what I ordered exactly but it was perfect for a chilly winter evening (see photo) We ate inside and I must say it was a little too toasty for my liking. Service was great. I would especially like to compliment the staff on their dress which was immaculate. Would like to experience sitting outside sometime so I can people watch! 4.5/5

Went here for the first time and absolutely loved this place. Both the atmosphere and food is vibrant and I will definitely be going back for lunch again.

Every time i come here the food is really good, Big portions for good prices. The lamb is cooked to perfection. I normally have the Lamb Tagine but opted for the Chicken Tagine this time, just to shake things up a little bit. A little bit on spicy side (some people like it, bit to spicy for me) but other than that, the chicken was magnificent, perfectly cooked and comes off the bone with perfection was so yummy best chicken ever! Wish i took photos. Pays to book in advance as it can get quite busy for dinner.  Will definitely be coming back! <br/><br/>Recommended food : Lamb tagine, 3 dips platter board and Calamari entree.<br/><br/>:)

The first thing I noticed about this place was the gorgeous decor. Everything from the cushions to the sugar bowls were absolutely beautiful! There were heaps of vegetarian options, and I chose the spanakopita, which is spinach and feta filled filo pastry and divine accompanying sauces. The food was amazing, I was very disappointed when I had finished. <br/>The service was really nice as well, the only downside is that the bathrooms were a little claustrophobia-inducing. The service was friendly, however they kept taking our plates really early, even when others were still eating. <br/>But I am very keen to return, and maybe steal a sugar bowl :)
Anna
Food is exceptional, service great, ambiance is great, especially for a restaurant in busy Sylvia park. Wasn't a fan of Mediterranean food until I came to this restaurant. I came here for two work functions and everything on the menu is good. The stand outs from the stunning menu has to be the falafels for lunch which are light and tasty and the steak skewers for dinner which are tender and fantastic with the eggplant on the side. Big portion size for the steak, can easily be shared by two girls. Prices are reasonable, the falafels are $14 and I normally get it for lunch as the service is fast enough.

The staff are friendly and helpful in deciding from a unfamiliar menu. The food is not consistent though. I have come here on several occasions and have had mixed reviews..overall the food is edible...sometimes lacks in seasoning or flavour.
Enilorac Rellim
My partner and I came here for lunch, I ordered the Cherkez Chicken and it was incredible! The chicken was cooked perfectly, and the walnut sauce complimented the chicken just right. The side salad stopped the meal feeling so heavy and balanced it out, this dish is just faultless. Keep up the amazing work Casablanca!

<br/>I had the moorish eggs on the breakfast menu i thoroughly enjoyed them . Serving size was good i am definitely going back to try more off the menu as it is very enticing👌

Stopped by for lunch and the place was starting to get packed. We ordered their lunch specials chicken with flat bread and some sides. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Our orders came pretty fast around 20mins. Food wise decent serving and nice flavours however our flat bread wasn't a bread it was like a tortilla wrap which was odd because we were expecting a flat bread. The main was $16 which was reasonable and filling. Throughout the service the place started to get super busy and it was hard to get the waiters attention therefore I suggest you eat earlier. Also the place needs a little clean especially the toilet. Other than that it was pretty good and will probably be back to try other things on the menu.

If you like Middle eastern food, this is probably the fancier option to the kebab shop in Sylvia park. My dad orders the cherkez chicken (always for the last 7years) and I ordered the lamajun. I found the lamajun too lemony for my taste and was not a huge fan. The cherkez chicken is quite tasty. I wouldn't say it's the best middle eastern / Mediterranean food but it's good. The baklava was actually very tasty .
FoodMakesMeHappy
The best mediterian food I have ever had in NZ!!! Its such a shame that Ive just tried this restaruant today even though Ive lived long around Mt Wellington.<br/>There sauces, bread seems to be made from scratch. Full of fragrance and everything so nice and fresh!!!! Will be there everytime I go Sylvia Park now

One of the better places to dine in at the Sylvia Park mall. Always buzzing and busy especially in the weekends. You can make your reservation on their website or you can just walk-in. The staff are efficient and always friendly. We almost always share the trio of hummus and calamari as our entree - never fails. The main dishes are generously portioned so keep enough space for that! Good wine list too - by the glass and bottle for almost all on offer. The Middle Eastern menu has something for everyone including vegetarians. Our favourites are the grilled fish with couscous and salad, the lamb cutlets and the lamb tagine (sp?). The Kids Menu could do with a makeover and the dessert options are ok but not outstanding. The Moroccan mint tea though is superb.

We go here frequently simply because we love it so much. We have had every one of the main meals on the menu.  Their taramasalata dip is heaven. Yet to find something comparable. The Jordan Hummus and Lamb Fattoush has become our favourites.<br/>Other than the great food, the decor and ambience of the place is nice. Meals are served in a reasonable time and wait staff are friendly. I'm sure I will be back there soon.

Honestly best place I've ever been too. I ordered this skewered scotch fillet and I asked for "very well done" because I get really sick after eating red meat. Some pieces were rare/ medium rare.. so I put those pieces aside, ate the ones that were cooked very well done. I wasn't fussed.. I knew they were busy and it's really hard to cook very well done steak because it takes ages .. one of the amazing waiters noticed and he asked if I would like my steak cooked again.. I didn't want to hassle them, but I couldn't waste food. Instead, I was brought a whole new skewered scotch fillet and I wasn't asked to pay for the second one, and was given a pretty good discount. Honestly guys, you are amazing! I wasn't going to write a bad review even if you guys hadn't done what you did .. i completely understood how busy you were.. honestly thank you so much for such an amazing service that night :) the food was amazing though and I'll definitely be back again !!

One of my favorite places to eat in Auckland. Love it and keep coming back. All the food is delicious. I have the Jordan Hummus alot but I have also strayed to other menu options and have never been disappointed.
Michellet16
Place is far to busy and not enough staff to keep up. Felt like we were being rushed to eat our food and leave, decor is great. Food is good, they look like they need more staff.
I_like_pickles
Lovely dining area with nice decor and ambience. Service is quick and staff are friendly and helpful. <br/><br/>They have a lovely outdoor dining area with comfy cushions and nice furniture. They have lunch plates for lunch that have a bit of everything. I really like their housemade lemonade. Perfect on a hot summer's day.<br/><br/>Dinner is average. The Spanikopita was a bit of a let down. Pastry wasn't crisp. The filling lacked cheese and the spinach didn't seem like spinach.

Set in the al fresco ambience of Sylvia Park’s Dining Lane, Casablanca offers a good range of Eastern Mediterranean and North African food that stimulate your senses in a subtle and sophisticated way. The portion sizes here are just right; the dishes are deceptively filling if they include couscous or rice. I’ve been to this place twice and would be happy to come back – especially to try more of their sharing plates.<br/><br/>For starters, I’d highly recommend their Cherkez Chicken (I loved it so much that I got it again on my second visit). The rice is fragrant, the nuts add texture, and of course the chicken is well-seasoned. There’s a sense of familiarity about the dish; it's like a much nicer version of the classic $5 kebab with high quality meat! <br/><br/>I’ve also tried their calamari, which was simple and scrumptious but not crunchy/battered. The North African falafels were fine – a bit dry, but maybe that’s what the sauce and hummus is for? Next time I’d probably go for their Halloumi cheese on bruschetta, or chilli prawns and mussels.<br/><br/>If you’re trying Moroccan food, I guess you’re obliged to order a tagine for your main. I’ve had the Moroccan Lamb Tagine and the Citron Chicken Tagine, which are good dishes to share between two people. They came with couscous, which was fairly standard (not as memorable as the rice from the Cherkez Chicken). For both the lamb and the chicken, the meat was really tender and falling off the bone. The sauce looks spicy and exotic, but it wasn't spicy at all. In fact, it was a bit buttery and disappointing. While I wouldn’t say it was under-seasoned or bland, I would've liked bolder flavours here; a small kick of spice would’ve made it more memorable.<br/><br/>Service was pretty good both times. Even when they’re busy, food came out within a reasonable time. They topped up our water without us needing to ask, checked in on us, etc.<br/><br/>As my friend put it nicely at the end of our meal, dining at Casablanca isn’t the cheapest option – but their food’s aromas and authenticity are a point of difference compared to other restaurants at Sylvia Park. Definitely worth trying if you haven’t had much exposure to this type of cuisine before!

This place was OK, pretty average. Nothing special, the food wasn't that great I probably won't visit again. I ordered the meatballs, they were really dry and the accompanying vegetables were burnt.
Dimitrios Konstantopoulos
Unfortunately nothing special about this place anymore. <br/>The effort is good the concept is great but the food/result is not there. <br/>I am Greek and I love Greek Turkish Oriental cuisine. <br/>Some of the dishes are disappointing.<br/>A few choices are safer.<br/>The service is great the decorations marvelous. <br/>Fix the food, keep it genuine improve the recipes and you can be in the top of the list.<br/><br/>

Went here for breakfast last Saturday and the service was great, very spacious, good atmosphere and awesome table setting. Ordered The Turkish mince which was quite nice. Next time will try something that I have never tried before. Highly recommended

we ordered lamb shanks and shrimp, all dishes are very tasty, service always pretty good like all other restaurants with delicious food. Recommend.

Great selection of Turkish food, with good variety of meats and vegetable dishes. Really lovely atmosphere and quirky set up. Food was beautifully cooked and presented

A nice spot in Sylvia park with an authentic North African / Mediterranean setting in a relaxed atmosphere. <br/><br/>The menu is extensive but they only provide the menu relevant to the time of the day, i.e. breakfast, brunch/lunch, and dinner which makes one's choice easier.<br/><br/>Lunch with my family at this establishment was an enjoyable experience. The service was nice and efficient, and the meals were served in good time. The presentation of the dishes was vibrant, and the taste backed up the pleasing visuals.<br/><br/>First dish of Mediterranean Fish Salad was overall satisfying. The portion of the fish was decent and the fish was cooked and seasoned well. The fillets was placed on a generous bed of rocket salad with couscous mixed with apricots and walnuts, however both apricot and walnuts I felt were lacking in quantity. This dish is a pretty safe bet for most people as a light/moderate meal.<br/><br/>Second dish of Citron Chicken Tangine was very good. Chicken was tender and succulent with very nice flavours. The couscous provided some carbohydrates for a balanced meal although it lacked flavours or seasoning for the most part. <br/><br/>The Moroccan Lamb Tangine was the highlight. I would recommend getting 2x shanks for an extra $5. The lamb was extremely juicy and tender with very good flavours. The sauce was  fantastic and it would be waste not to take what's left home. Two things I really wish this dish had. 1) More coriander, perhaps cut more finely sprinkled over the dish as it really did enhance the overall Mediterranean flavour. 2) A small side of pide bread for dipping into the sauce. Or offer an option of either pide bread or couscous with the dish.<br/><br/>Lastly we ordered a Kale smoothie for $8.50 that was advertised on each table. I was slightly sceptical but it also turned to be genuine and excellent. <br/><br/>Would definitely recommend this restaurant. It seems from other reviews that they are also able to consistently delivery a high standard of food and service.

Casablanca never fails to impress me every time I dine there.. Probably it's the best restaurant at Sylvia Park that's why. Or maybe its one of the best Mediterranean restaurant in Auckland (which I've tried before).<br/><br/>Love the atmosphere, love the food.<br/><br/>I don't know where to start. Order anything and it will be good. (Haha..sorry that didn't quite help I know). If you still don't know what to order, then try their any of their Tagine.<br/>

Birthday lunch for me today. Huge plates of food, beautifully presented, reasonable prices, great drinks selection and good service. Will be back.

Worst service ever!!! It took 40 mins for them to get our mains, we had a 6years old who had tears waiting for his chicken and chips. Asking few times where the food is and pleading that they get alteast the kids meal all they had to say was that food is on its way. At no time any of the staff had courtesy to apologies for delay or anything!!!! Food was not bad but the lamb dish was dry and menu said cubes of lamb but it was like shredded lamb.<br/><br/>I think the kitchen was under staff and may be the front staff was over worked as I could see none of them smile on their face and looked like they couldn't not be bothered to be there.

■ Vibrant atmosphere<br/>■ Good location<br/>■ Great food<br/><br/>I absolutely loved my afternoon at Casablanca yesterday! They serve delicious and healthy Mediterranean dishes that are both flavoursome and filling! For starters we had the Calamari Meze, the Falafels and the duo of dips. The falafels and Calamari were so nice! I would highly HIGHLY recommend the Turkish Apple tea. It had such a unique taste ahh not too sweet.. not too citrusy..its perfect! We also had the Moroccan Mint Tea and Ice Tea which were both refreshing.<br/><br/>Our mains included the Greek Meatballs, the Citron Chicken Tagine, Cherkez Chicken and I ordered the Spanakopita. This was a delicious pastry filled with Spinach, Feta Cheese and a whole other bunch of wonderful stuff Hahahaha It was sooo good! My salad was also great. Each and every one of our meals were beautifully presented also.<br/><br/>The place got real busy in a short space of time but the servers were consistent throughout the afternoon. They were all so cheerful and the waitress that served us was so lovely! She said her name was Tatiana...I think haha...she was the best! So yeah I'm gonna easily give this place a 5/5. Overall the atmosphere was cosy and comfortable and the meals, tasty and colourful. Not to mention that it's right next to Sylvia Park mall if you wanna squeeze in a movie or shopping after your meal.<br/><br/>Definitely worth checking out!!

I visited Casablanca for dinner on Friday 18th November with other 4 friends. The restaurant was very busy, it seemed to be packed house at every hour. I was very excited to taste your food as I would be visiting the following Saturday with 19 other people.<br/><br/>The entrees had arrived quickly and they were very nice and we were looking forward to the mains.<br/><br/>Unfortunately, it was so disappointing. One person ordered the lamb shanks tagine, the shank was small with minimal meat and the couscous doused with a lot of watery liquid and my friend mentioned it's bland.<br/>I ordered Citron chicken Tagine, it was below standard the sauce was watery, there were feathers still stuck to the chicken skin. I returned my dish and ordered different dish but then I canceled my order as I was no longer hungry for anything from the kitchen.<br/>The waitress was very apologetic and understanding. We went to pay then we were advised the whole table's meals are "on the house".<br/><br/>I hope that my review is to be considered as constructive criticism and not a complaint. Looking forward to visit you again.

Saksuka, x2 tomato bread, iskender, lamb tagine, x2 chicken pilaf, 2 pieces of baklava, churros, x2 wine & pineapple juice = $159. Good price for 4 full islanders lol.<br/>Churros definitely not worth it especially when around the corner is a churros truck half the price + more.<br/>Everything else was delicious and worth it! I gave it a 5 because years ago i came here and remember hating the food, this time everyone was amazed about how good the food is. Baklava is fresh, we were advised it is cooked fresh everyday. Lamb was very soft and tasty. Tomato bread and veggies delicious. The winner was the chicken pilaf! I am coming back for this dish. FYI they have $20 Monday specials which was the Lamb tagine & chicken pilaf for our order. <br/>I get bloated easily so I was really happy after the meal when I felt stuffed yet not bloated or half asleep. Guess I need to eat more Middle Eastern food!

I've always enjoyed the food in casablanca, unfortunately the service are not that great. Today we came here for lunch, when we got there the place was fairly empty, with only 2 or 3 tables occupied. I was surprised that none of the service staff were around to greet us. It took a wee while before we were noticed and someone came with the menu. <br/><br/>Today we ordered the lamb lunch plate, and the casa fish and chips. Both dishes were great! <br/><br/>The lamb was succulent, juice and full of flavours. The hummus and the tabouli that came with the lamb were tasty, and compliments the lamb well. <br/><br/>I love the fact that they grilled the fish here. It was cooked to perfection... the aioli was so creamy and delish! <br/><br/>The food took a little long to come out, but overall we enjoyed our lunch very much <br/>

nice warm ambiance, great for a team lunch (girls lunch out) and friendly staff :) it's busy during lunch time so be sure to book :) I will eat there again. <br/>

I really enjoy coming here for something a little bit different. Not many places I've found do good Mediterranean/Turkish food in my opinion. I always like to get the chicken lunch plate, but there are lots of other things on the menu I'd love to try like the halloumi cheese bruschetta and the French toast! Whenever I'm around Sylvia park I personally like to stop here for lunch, and would suggest anyone else to do also :)

It is a lovely environment with above average service. Ordered the skewed scotch fillet and it was quite delicious. My friend says their lamb falafel is quite good too. Glad to have discovered this place.

My wife had Moorish eggs with meatballs & Pide bread & I had Morroccan lamb Tagine (slow-roasted lamb shank with couscous) for lunch, with hot & nice coffees. Moorish eggs & meatballs were both well-cooked; lamb Tagine (including couscous) was also good. (Food - 4/5; Service - 3/5; Ambience - 3.5/5)

Great lunch! Fresh and filling food with friendly service. I had the calamari salad which was delish! Comfortable atmosphere and handy as a pre-movie meal at Sylvia Park

Nice Ambiance and very friendly staff. We went here for lunch today with wife and my little girl, staff were very accommodating. Place was quite busy however our meals arrived in a timely manner. We had the Fish and Chip, OMG loved the fish and the herbs its marinated full of flavours. A must try if you a fish lover. Asked the chef to add some kick (chilli) to it and he nailed it. Highly recommend this place. Surely come back again.

I dine here quite frequently for dinner and brunch. The food here is always consistent and good. I have tried many items on the menu but my favourites are still the lamb lunch plate or for dinner Jordan hummus with lamb.<br/>They have the best hummus I have tasted. The texture is so smooth and creamy. Just perfect! <br/>The moorish eggs are to die for and the same goes for the lamb shank tagine and the spanikopita. <br/>

I've frequented Casablanca for a few years now. I always order the lamb lunch plate. The lamb is flavorsome, and the hummus is top notch. I also highly recommend their Turkish Apple Tea. <br/>The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable, wonderful for a relaxing weekend.

This place had an amazing staff, super good customer service!!<br/><br/>The food choices I made possibly may be the reason for this rating of review but I personally didn't enjoy it as much as I had hoped.<br/><br/>We ordered the Chicken Tagine, Bedouin Lamb, Eskopinata, Falafel and a few drinks.<br/><br/>The Chicken Tagine was bland, the Bedouin Lamb could've done with a little more spice as it was lacking any flavour and the hummus with the Falafel was delicious.<br/><br/>All in all, based on my experience here, this is the rating it gets.
Monique Ohlson
The place is set up beautifully and all the team members are very lovely. The food was great although my lamb wasn't medium as per the menu it was almost well done but still had nice flavours. I had beautiful roasted beats onion carrots and potatoes. Full of lots of flavour. The yoghurt sauce was probably a little too much on the plate making it a bit soupy and the food sliding around a little bit. The parsnip purée was very tasty. Overall I would go back again and try something new.
Gemma Leigh
Had chicken and it was tasty<br/>Loved the salmon dip with cucumbers omg loved it more than the main lol. Mondays have special $20 tagine nights so be sure to go then

I went here on the weekend with my younger brother. The service was quick and friendly. My brother spilt his hot chocolate and the staff were extremely accommodating and replaced it without charge. I was very impressed and would definitely return here. <br/>Inside was lovely and warm on a freezing winter morning and the sun streaming in. There were multiple copies of the weekend paper which is always a treat.

Came here with a group of people for breakfast. Late service we waited about 30 mins for our food and no updates on how long we can expect to be served. I ordered the Falusya with sujak sausage and poached eggs which was pretty much beans with 1/4 chorizo chopped up. There was zero flavour for a Mediterranean restaurant which is supposed to be all about the flavour....Very underwhelming. For $17.50 not worth it at all. Would pay max $10 for what I got...<br/>Other people in my group were disappointed as well. Step it up!
Mansi Trivedi
I was there on a lone date . They have got perfect menu for the tea lovers . I had the regular Japanese green tea and it was exotic . Veggie salad was baked perfectly. Just that you don't get place easily and you have to wait for long . Try their meat it looked tempting .
Grubking
We ended up completely satisfied with our food. The portions were just right, presentation was good and everything tasted as we would expect it to. Why does it still have just a 3.5? The staff were like new kids on an assembly line who didn't know where they belonged and what they were doing. <br/><br/>If you don't mind waiting till someone figures out you're there for food while taking aimless walks around the restaurant, then go here. The food is great... And on that front you're bound to be pleased. <br/><br/>¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Lunch at Casablanca has become one of our favorites. Wonderful staff and setting. Great meals always fresh and tasty just so yum. The chicken lunch plate is the best we have had.
Courtney
This restaurant always impresses me! The food is amazing, and the chefs have always been accommodating to make my food vegan- and adding extra hummus to make up for the food taken off my plate to I get my money's worth! Last time I went with my partner I got the seasonal vegetables and rice stuffed capsicum- both were amazing (the chef gave me hummus with the capsicum instead of the yogurt). My boyfriend enjoyed mine too as well as his lamb and crouton salad. We will continue going back when we feel like good quality Mediterranean food!
Ronald Tan
First experience of Moroccan/Mediterranean cuisines. We had a pan fried calamari salad with aioli and a burger with some Mediterranean sausage. Pretty unique taste and flavour. The ambience is great, a bit of Greek and Casablanca feel. For food lovers who like to try something new, would recommend to give this place a try. Overall 3.5 ratings.
Natasha Kumar
Pirzola Lamb cutlets are an amazing main dish and I throughly enjoyed my time catching up with a friend. The staff were lovely and the place wasn't too loud even though it was busy. Really nice flavour combinations 😁
Jihye Kang
Good authentic Mediterranean food, but a bit on the pricey side.<br/><br/>I go here once a fortnight and find that portions vary greatly depending on the day, which is weird.
Tessa Hall
Really good service and nice food!! They were pretty quick with the meals and always topped up our waters too. Only negative was the portion size wasn't that big but was still delicious!
Tania Dawson
Came here with my flatmate on Friday night for a spontaneous dinner. We ordered the trio dip platter to share and a fish and chips each.<br/><br/>Our platter came out with our mains. There might have been a miscommunication because other groups who had come in after us had received their entree before us.<br/><br/>The fish and chips were generous with a meaty serving of Hapuka fish. I liked the seasoning on the fish and it was nice not having a batter. The fries were French fries. I would have prefer thick cut fries as I feel it would have suited the plate and good quality fish better. For some reason, French fries reminds me of McDonalds.<br/><br/>Overall, we were full and happy. The atmosphere of the restaurant was nice and suited the theme<br/><br/>Would love to come back to try the rest of the menu

An ‘A’ for Atmosphere, and a very nicely located authentic Mediterranian restaurant of very good repute & superb food choices. Once you have been here the ambience is so seductive, you feel you are in the Middle East or specifically Casablanca as their name suggests. Their service is excellent & the food id delectable, superbly spiced & so beautifully cooked, that it brings forth the amazing flavours of the entire dish into a Tagine'd experience to treasure, for a melt in the mouth & falling off the bone meat experience.  The unique method of coking by a Tagine is the secret of the art of their cooking. The food is artfully layered with vegetables & topped by the meat in a unique combination of (secret) Middle Eastern spices & the Tagine is then cooked for a specific time & temperature. The unique shape & configuration of the inner walls of the Tagine enable the juices to recirculate within, thus creating a beautiful 'casseroled’ effect unique to a Tagine. So as we say good food takes time, do have their starters & a glass of wine or a beer giving them the time to prepare their masterpieces which just should not be rushed. The whole idea is to relax & enjoy the atmosphere. Another favourite of mine is their Turkish Apple Tea. It is a great accompanying tea; before, with, & even after the meal too. Great service too, very friendly staff & one of the most authentic dining experiences in a beautiful Eastern ambience.

Great food and drinks, Beautiful mediterrian ambience. Staffs can be little more suggestive when taking orders. Overall nice experience. Shall return again.

This is one of my favourite restaurants and I have sampled a range of their dishes. The chicken and lamb tagines are my favourite mains and you can get them at the bargain price of $20 on Mondays. I also like the stuffed capsicum, cherkez chicken, grilled haloumi, Greek meatballs, and sangria. If you're with someone, it can be fun to share a number of the tapas dishes.<br/>The decor is nice and the noise level usually doesn't prevent conversation.<br/>Service can vary but staff are reasonably friendly.<br/>The calibre of the dishes ranges from very good to outstanding; I suppose it fluctuates depending on which chef is running the kitchen on a particular night.
Stephy_NakiGirl
There used to be a number of good Mediterranean restaurants in Auckland years ago, but it's hard to find a good one these days that consistently delivers tasty food - luckily Casablanca is pretty reliable.<br/>Met a few friends here for dinner & 3/5 of us had dined here before, the other 2 were first timers. <br/>There is a variety of seating options inside & outside, tables & bench seats. We sat outside in the covered area which was nice on a cooler summer evening.<br/> The menu has variety without having too many options & it was great that we all found a dish we enjoyed. <br/>We ordered the Cherkez Chicken which is one of their small dishes with a side of pita & hummus, calamari salad, fish & chips, beef skewer, & Jordan hummus with lamb. Everyone of us enjoyed our dishes & all our plates were clean afterwards. The meat/fish on all dishes was perfectly cooked, chargrilled nicely when applicable but moist & succulent within. Accompanying sides on the dishes were well balanced & ingredients appeared fresh. We felt full but the food wasn't too heavy - this can be a fine balance sometimes! Quite good value <br/>for money. <br/>We were served in good time & our meals arrived in reasonable time too on what was a relatively busy night. <br/>Service was okay - courteous but very unobtrusive. Definitely pleasant but could be a little more engaging. For example dessert menus were quietly placed in one pile on the table to the side & it would have been great to hear about any specials etc... Not a problem, just a suggestion. We ended up deciding to go elsewhere for dessert but they do have a good selection of somewhat traditional desserts such as baklava & also cakes.<br/>Good wine & beers list - not a large selection but well chosen.<br/>Will definitely be back.

Shared a mezze platter with my SO, followed by lahmacun (him) and panfried fish (me). Interesting and fresh flavours, quite different to the lebanese/egyptian flavour profiles we're used to.<br/>Portion sizing was good and we didn't have a long wait for the food.
Zamily
We came here as a friend wanted to try the place out.  The atmosphere of the restautant was OK - that was probably the best part.<br/><br/>We ordered the Cherkez Chicken and Chilli Prawns.  The chicken could have done with some more flavour and was delivered to our table cold.  The prawns were nice, but at $18.50 I expected more than 5 small prawns.  <br/><br/>The service wasn't great either.  We weren't really acknowledged throughout the evening and there was a small muck up with the orders - fortunately this was sorted out quickly.
J
Nice food. Worst service ever. Manager was apologetic and helpful. Wait staff have a real attitude problem when customers query their absence after 30 min, both the table next to us and ourselves experienced this first hand. Management should take responsibility. Won't be back.

Great place to have dinner. The food was delicious and amazingly good and great service as well even though it was a busy night, they did a great job.

Decided to dine here since I've pretty much dined at every eatery there is at Sylvia Park!<br/><br/> Decor is rather nice, we sat outside to enjoy the sun and breeze. Inside seemed rather gloomy. We ordered Turkish Mince and the Fasulya baked beans and a side of fries ~<br/> Unfortunately I was rather disappointed in both dishes, my beans where mushy and lacked flavour it was really bland. I enjoy eating canned baked beans over this. The mince was nothing special either. <br/> I didn't end up finishing my dish, I felt like the food lacked a lot of seasoning, for simple dishes I'd expect clean flavours.<br/><br/> Service was okay I know I can better else where, we were left alone for most of the time, it was a good day to catchup with my girl what was missing was the refilling of our glasses of water. Maybe I'm just a really thirsty person but I look around and the table next us had empty glasses too. Waitresses seemed preoccupied on their own thoughts than on the job.<br/><br/> Unfortunately I won't be back.

Heard a lot about this place and yeah it has got something special. The food was soo good that i wanna go back again sometime. The place was full but it was worth the wait. Also the atmosphere inside the restaurant was quite cheerful and lively! A must try for all!

Came here from brunch with a group of friends. We went at around 11:30am so it was pretty quiet. We managed to get a nice table on the outer side of the restaurant. I settled for the Chicken lunch plate and a cup of mocha. The coffee was pretty good, and the lunch plate had a really generous serving. I reckon $16 was a reasonable price, tasted good too. Although we waited a bit longer than usual for our orders, and it seemed like the waitress didn't really want to serve us, the food was pretty decent.
Moeka Lee
Always have loved coming here. Food is always so yummy. Today I decided on non-Mediterrenean food for brunch just because I prefer their dinner menu, eggs bene was so bomb, I was the first to finish my meal.<br/>Love the decor and setting, it's ambient and very comfortable.<br/>However I think let down for me today was just customer service. Waitress seemed like she didn't want to be there or maybe serving my group of friends wasn't ideal for her since we were quite loud and at times maybe demanding. But there was no cheerful attitude to make us feel welcome. Other staff were quite nice, we probably just caught her on a off day.
Day
It was busy but and although we were met straight away I felt the waiters were spread a little thin. <br/><br/>The food was tasty, especially the saksuka and the halloumi (which was served on a lovely salsa bruschetta). The squid was nicely spicy but it was a little too thick for me and my friend so we left half the plate.<br/>Dessert was baklava which my friend really enjoyed, with ice cream.<br/>All in all it was traditional but good quality Turkish and I'd go again, just to work my way through the menu.
Katherine Holder
Greeted immediately considering how busy the place was, took a seat outside as was full to the brim inside. Managed to get our orders in quickly, but we had to wait awhile for drinks and food to come out.<br/>Ordered a wine and a mocha, did not come out at the same time which was not cool.<br/>Food arrived, got the meze platter for myself and partner ordered the  kumru burger. The platter was nice, although the stuffed vine leaves tasted awful (in saying that-it was my first time trying it and did not like the taste), but other items on the platter were up to my standard.<br/><br/>The food was definitely worth waiting for
NanaKo
Came here for lunch with my friend on a Tuesday. The restaurant was only half full when I arrived at 12.45. We were promptly greeted by the waitress to take our drink order while we decide on our mains.<br/><br/>I ordered the the moorish eggs and my friend got the lamb shank. My main was lovely. It was very authentic in taste and the portion was just right. My friend's shank on the other hand was a bit small in portion and wasn't as meaty as she'd hoped. Taste however was very nice.<br/><br/>We did order a chocolate mousse for dessert but it was way too sweet! We will probably skip dessert next time.<br/><br/>Overall a very nice place to go for lunch with a very extensive menu which I would like to try a majority of items on there. Will definitely come back again!
Red_Broccoli
Went there on one of the weekend's lunch.<br/>We chose 2 mains and 1 entree to share. And hardly could finish it all - portions are really big there.<br/>Food was above all expectations, service was a bit cold though - but maybe because it was busy there. Just when you are going to Mediterranean cuisine you expecting smiling and positive people.<br/>Waiting time is about 25 minutes that is not bad at all, especially on weekend. Especially, if you have friend and drink. <br/>Overall: Food 5+*, Service 3*, Ambiance 4.5*.

Always a great place to go - good value for money and tasty meals!<br/>Ambiance is good and as authentic as you can get around Auckland. <br/>Friendly staff.

Went with my son and his wife on a busy Friday night as thought it seemed like a good place to  take a young married couple. Everybody enjoyed their meal. Fish of the day, lamb cutlets, meat balls and another lamb dish. Seemed healthy and nicely cooked. Service was great without being either rushed or too slow. Will be putting it on my list to return to.

We love coming here, consistently good food, service and ambiance. The carrot cake made on the premises is great. Seating casually Mediterranean and relaxing
Taran
Delicious food great Tuscan wine. Reminded me of my recent visit to Italy. Beautiful atmosphere and just found out a recent Bollywood actor was spotted in this premises. The hummus with the pide bread was divine, such soft bread. Surely will be coming back in the next week.
Fiona Wylens
Had lunch here with clients. Nice atmosphere and generous sized meals. Make sure you are hungry! Definitely recommend the lamb kebab skewers.

We've been to C w. our friends a few times for lunch and dinner and we've always thought it a lovely looking restaurant. The food is ok, staff attentive. However, wouldn't opt to come here unless someone else chose to.

Lovely staff .. Awesome sitting... We ordered the mezzo platter ... It was a huge plate to share and really tasty had a great time

Casablanca is my go-to whenever I craved good Mediterranean food near my area (still hunting for more places). The decor is great, feels like getting transported to Morocco! I usually come here for dinner and I highly recommend their tangine dishes. This time round however, we came during brunch and we ordered the cherkez chicken and the kumru burger.<br/><br/>One thing I noticed about Casablanca is that at first glance when they serve you your food, you feel disappointed looking at its portion size. HOWEVER fortunately this is deceiving! Looks tiny but very filling indeed. This happened with my cherkez chicken but the amount of chicken they put in there was so satisfying, there was more chicken than rice (which I will not even complain about) and the salad was delicious. The hummus and walnuts on top of the dish was a great complement as well. <br/><br/>The kumru burger was also just as good and just as filling! Great quality ingredients used and the halloumi cheese in the burger was great, couldn't stop raving about how good all the ingredients in this burger went together.<br/><br/>Another visit leaving satisfied. During dinner though, it pays to book as some nights it gets quite busy!

Really loved this places - the interior is full of colors and taste; very nice sitting allocated across the place inside outside by the window against the wall; the signature dish I am always going for is the mussel
Grace
A four based on the sangria alone! Awesome place to share plates with friends to try a variety of food. Loved the decor - gives it a really cool atmosphere. Lovely customer service too!

We've dined here a few times so the average rating I'm going to give this place is 3.5<br/><br/>We first ate here a few years ago in celebration of an event. What better place to go than a Mediterranean/Middle eastern restaurant situated within close proximity to our local mall?! I remember the lamb hummus dish as delicious, tasty and mouth watering... <br/>A few visits after, we noticed the quality of food was decreasing... Our last experience confirmed that it had decreased, it was not the greatest. I ordered the calamari salad and was totally disappointed. At this stage I'm willing to try once more, but not anytime soon!
Mildred Wong
Beautiful and warm ambience, with the medditerranean decor and table settings including lovely small details like an etched water jug and table that we sat at. Mains were generous portions. The beef cheek special was tender and moist. While the citron chicken was flavourful and moist but not as strong of Citron flavor as expected. Overall a great dining experience.
Alaut Airotciv
The setting of the restaurant is beautiful, service was great and did not wait long for food to arrive. Waiters were always seeing if we were alright & smiling always. Exceptional service & food.
Shelly
Used to come here often when I worked in the mall. Always very busy and friendly staff. The food is out of this world - I love Mediterranean food and this always satisfies my cravings! I loved their tabouleh! So refreshing!

FIRST IMPRESSIONS: I've been here many times over the years and always enjoyed the welcoming, warm vibe of the restaurant. The decor is tasteful and wonderfully befitting of the Middle Eastern and North African influences. <br/><br/>FOOD: I opted for the North African falafels served with flatbread and hummus. The falafels were delicately cooked and combined perfectly with the savoury flavours of the hummus and sumac. The squeeze of lemon gave it a lovely balance too. For the dessert I had a delicious serving of baklava. I also really liked the rustic nature of the serving plates. <br/><br/>DRINKS: my coffee was strong and bold and washed down my baklava perfectly. <br/><br/>SERVICE: very friendly, smiling and attentive. Even though they were busy they happily found a space for us and constantly checked to see if we were okay. <br/><br/>In my opinion this is the best food experience in Sylvia Park. It's no wonder they continue to pack in the customers after all these years!
Hoori
They have variety of mediterranean food which is good to have it in Auckland, the food I had was dry and doesn't really cost for this price or even half of that price. I've tried it once and not too sure to pay for that again.
Bobby Anderson
Food is good, would recommend the lamb dishes. The chicken targine was boring and lacked texture and flavour. Service can be improved
Anthony
Food was good service was not but love the food.congrats to the chef.only one thing plate is super full of the food no apace for side but it was great
Maria Foy
As someone who has Coeliac Disease, I was pleased to see they had a few gluten free options. I ordered eggs and bacon with potatoes. As well as a side of fries and a lemonita (drink). Was quite good, although needed more dip haha
Dana
Scrummy place to eat, food has always been fresh, staff pleasant. Only complaint probably the water in the old metal jugs taste old...glass is always better
Aleesha Nana
Been here several times now and have tried different dishes, the feel and vibe here is great, service great, all my meals were delicious, the meatball dish lacked a little season, but overall yummy! I will be back!

Casablanca Cafe is my choice for dining whenever I'm in Auckland. Great menu and delicious food....always perfectly cooked and tastes as it should - YUMMY!! <br/>Friendly and professional service, lovely decor (Moroccan items supplied by my company, www.moroccansunset.co.nz), and just an all around relaxed dining experience ! Keep up the high standard 😊

Food was cold, uninspiring and over priced. Decor and location was great but food was so overpriced, you can get better tasting food at Kebab on Queens for half the price!
Heidi
Casablanca is the hands-down best place to stop for brunch when at Sylvia Park. Been here twice now, first Moorish eggs and recently Lamb Fattoush salad along with coffees. It is lovely to get out of the busy mall and into a cosy sanctuary with warm delicious food. Will be back :)
FoodLoco
The few times i have been here i ordered Moorish eggs which was 6.5/10 <br/>Chicken tagine 8/10<br/><br/>If you like really sweet tea try their trukish tea

Delicious Mediterranean food. I have been here a few times with my boyfriend and best friend to try the most popular dishes. I can definitely see why :) It is a little pricey but the food, service and atmosphere is great.
Chloe-Mae
Came here ALL the time when pregnant I had this super craving for med food. Loved the lamb and hummus ohh drool and there entrees are great to I haven't come across to many Middle eastern food joints in NZ that I could say I enjoy this is one of them will be back :)

The atmosphere is good, staff are really attentive and the food great - have had an enjoyable experience each time I have been here. The lunch time haloumi is really good (when I ordered for dinner a different and less pleasant type was served).

They are a hit and miss restaurant. The first time I ate here we had the Anatolian brides soup with the meatballs which was amazing. We came back a second time ordered the entree of calamari and the Iskender. The calamari came with a fabulous sauce but the calamari itself was rubbery which takes away from that sauce. The Iskender was huge chunks of lamb and it says it comes with pide bread but it doesn't it comes with croutons of pide bread you are essentially just eating chunks of lamb with yoghurt and sauce when you are expecting to eat all of that with the bread and that really takes away from the dish. After bringing this up with the waitress I got given bread however was charged for it but we were running late for the movie so I couldn't be bothered discussing this with them. Would I go back yes but just for that lovely soup we had.
Bevan Chuang
A little delightful Turkish restaurant with awesome dishes, atmosphere and friendly staff. Taste fabulous and I can't recommend it more. Love the place and love the fact that it is always buzzing. Price is ok and will be back for sure!

A very nice Moroccan cuisine place that also has other Middle-Eastern dishes. The Saksuka is outstanding. Great ambience and the staff is overall friendly. Will go again.

Sylvia park- not exactly my favourite place to dine or somewhere I would choose to be on a weekend- so it would be fair to say expectations were low when looking for somewhere to stop for lunch. Casablanca looked after us well- considering how uber busy they were, the staff welcome was warm, genuine and fast & we were seated very quickly. We ordered simply- each of the party of 4 had the lunch plate, 2 with chicken, one falafel and one lamb. Excellent value at between $14.50- $16.50 depending on choice of meat, enticingly presented with a full of flavour hummus, zingy fresh tabouleh and some flatbread. Accompanied by a very decent flat white, I was able to forget, for just a few minutes, that I was in shopping mall hell.<br/>

Having brunch with a beautiful friend, the food is yummy, service is good and great deco and atmosphere. Definitely go back for more! Keep up the good work!

A brilliant little place inside Sylvia Park mall. I love this place. It has got a rustic Middle Eastern/Meditterranean décor and a great ambience in general. Food is simple and fabulous. I go there after hours of accompanying my wife while she windowshops and order a Turkish Coffee to unwind. Try their Lahmajun, Iskender, Tagine, Haloumi, Fattoush, Baklava......all excellent. The service is equally good and friendly. I highly recommend this place to all that like trying different cuisines. You will not be disappointed. Food 4/5, L 4/5, Price 3/5, Location 4.5/5, Portion 3.5/5, Ambience 3.5/5

Casablanca is a surprise within the Sylvia Park mall, the decor and cutlery immediately transport you away from the bustle of the shopping and into an exotic Turkish setting. I ordered the Calamari salad which was great when I first dug into it as I was still overwhelmed with the exciting bustle of the restaurant, but as I continued, I began wishing that the calamari was fried instead to give the salad more crunch, flavour, and make it more heavy/ filling. My sister's Mediterranean Fish salad which was also quite nice, but the superstar dish was at the table had to be the Skewered Scotch Fillet- the whole dish was smokey and full of flavour, and irresistible to keep stealing forkfuls off. For a restaurant in the mall, it stands above the others, but portion sizes could be a bit bigger for the price.

Syliva Park , 10 June 2015  (My birthday dinner) <br/>Portion size to small for the cost you pay...IF the portion was bigger, why not pay $30 for a meal? Seriously, potato mash -2 skewers and lil bit of yoghurt drizzled on mixed tomatoe veges.. really? <br/><br/>Moroccan Mint Tea - You really need someone with tea experience to make this.  My tea tasted like water mixed with a bunch of mint leaves... I come to restaurant/cafe to experience your culture and its almost as if your stealing my money for small portions and 'dirty water' tea.. I'd brew your mintbetter tea than this.<br/><br/>Staff are smiles and happy, but come to your table far too often to take your plate, even when you haven't finished, twice i had to tell them to go away kindly....  You seem like you just want to catch the customer out...

went with my good friend for breakfast as we were hungry and around Sylvia park, so we were looking for a place to eat and Casablanca looked real nice. I thought from the outside it was quite small but I was wrong! it was really spacious and I loved the decor to it as well! was very tidy, warm and inviting. We got served by a very lovely waiter.<br/><br/>We had the haloumi on tomato bread with avocado and I got a side of bacon with mine. Plus 2 coffees. my mocha was the right temprature, and not to overly strong or weak - it was perfect. Our mains came out at perfect timing too. Didn't wait long at all and our meal was delicious! especially the haloumi! portions were perfect as well! didn't feel overly full or still hungry! was very satisfying! and lastly, I really loved the serving plates!

I enjoy every visit to Casablanca and todays experience was no exception.<br/>It was Queens Birthday weekend and so was extremely busy but this made no difference to the quality of food, service or friendliness of staff.<br/><br/>The staff today were very accommodating to find a table with a high chair and went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable even offering to put the heater on for us and hide away our pushchair for us. This is by far the most helpful staff we have encountered for a very long time here in NZ.<br/><br/>The speed of service was amazing from the ordering of the wine to the food being served.<br/>I ordered the Lamajan (traditional turkish street food) and it really is a very authentic dish and tastes as good as it does in Turkey. My husband ordered the 2x lamb shank tagine and was very, very happy with it! We also ordered the halumi and the fries, amazing sides, delicious fries and our 20mth old was also highly impressed with the aioli!<br/><br/>To finish, as full as we were, i had seen a lady next to use order a slice of what looked like the best carrot cake i had ever seen and so i couldn't resist to take a piece home. I am happy to say, it tasted as good as it looked...<br/><br/>Can't wait for the next visit  :)

This is one of our favourites places. Excellent dishes. A favourite of mine is the chicken lunch plate. Food is always consistent. I recommend the chicken with Walnut and the mince on toast. You won't be disappointed here.

:D ...See that? I started my review off with a smile. Casablanca has that affect on me.<br/><br/>The chicken lunch plate is such a delight. You wont be disappointed. Everything about it is DE-licious!<br/><br/>On my visit there, I spied fellow foodies instagramming before they tucked into their dishes. I've always admired those that do so. Only because I dont have the patience. When I'm hungry, I turn into a sweet Georgia Brown. ...Pictures? 'Ain't nobody got time fo dat!'<br/><br/>The decor is absolutely wonderful. I love the intricacies of the mozaics, right down to the patterns that decorate the tea cups and water jugs. I can get lost, and almost forget that I am still in NZ. If you can get a seat outside, it just adds to your dining experience.<br/><br/>Another thing I really love about Casablanca is that you get to see the chefs in action. I love watching them do their thing as you settle your bill at the till. Those guys really know what they're doing. Kudos!<br/><br/>I'm always too full after my lunch plate, so have not tried any of their sweet items. It is definitely on the cards with a coffee next time!

Always good, the food is fresh, service and ambience excellent. Very comfortable cushion seating in a relaxed environment. In summer the front opens and it's great to sit in the morning sun.
Hungry Hippo
This restaurant looks rather small from th outside, but it is deceiving because it rather large, th set up is quite lovely, nice how it's not so bright inside so it's easy on th eyes. Their presentation for th food is immaculate and surely feeds your eyes and senses. Great for lunch and dinner! Don't quite remember the service was sadly, but usually means it wasn't bad :) highly recommend the lamb meals!

Was there for a business dinner last night. I've been here a few times before with wifey earlier. This is a must visit for anyone who loves lamb shanks. The tagine is brilliant. Tender slow cooked lamb falling off the bones. We also shared a fee entres. 3 dips, calamari and falafel.... Dips were spot on but shame that our bread had a tiny hair in it. The staff did serve another bread and apologized but I expected not to pay for that entre. Anyways water under the bridge. We also ordered another lamb dish and requested no rice with it. But we didn't say add bread instead lol cause the bread kindda ruined it. Again I put this error down to the wait staff. Our other orders were done wrong too but I put that down to the place being very busy n packed with diners by the time we got around to ordering the desserts. The sticky date pudding and baklava. Can't go wrong with baklava here. They are not super sweet like most other places. Which is good cause you get to taste the nuts lol. I like it that way. Pudding could do with a lot less Caramel syrup cause our pudding was swimming in it. The syrup was really good though. All in all a pretty average experience. 4 stars is purely cause of the food which is just really good. Oh and cause of a bottle of roaring Meg being just $58!!!!!! I would go there just got the wine lol. Will visit again for sure though.

My husband and i have been a customer for many years.  The service is excellent, the food quality is consistently high and with a great variety.  The meals are always well presented and great value, coffee fantastic worth the visit alone.  The atmosphere is always warm and welcoming and some of the most friendly and professional staff you would come across.  The team know their regulars, always make them feel at home but treat new customers with as just the same warm, friendly and welcoming greeting.  A credit to the management team.  Dinner menu and atmosphere is great and so would strongly encourage you try as the Turkish influence is obvious and will get you hooked.

Been to Casablanca a few times now and have enjoyed both evenings of dining. The restaurant has a nice homely feel to it even though it's always quiet busy. Staff are polite and helpful with selecting from the menu. Really liked the Cherkez Chicken and the lamb Iskender, both full of flavour - this was plenty between me and a friend. Nice place to dine if your at Sylvia park!

Today was definitely a good food day!<br/>The decor at Casablanca makes you almost forget that you are in a Mall. Everything from the stunning wooden cabinets to their mozaic tables are beautiful.<br/><br/>We all had the chicken lunch plate and everything was perfect! The tabouli balanced the creamy richness of the hummus, and the chicken was juicy and tender. It was a generous serve for lunch and I was very happy with the 'meat to plate' ratio! I wish I knew what the word or phrase is to decribe the action where you; kiss your thumb and index finger, then quickly splay them out like a starburst to signify perfection. Because that is what the lunch plate is like! 💋👌 ✋<br/><br/>Well done Casablanca! ⭐ ⭐ ️ ⭐ ️ ⭐ ️ ⭐ ️ ️

Whenever we visit Sylvia Park for shopping, which is most weeks, my wife and I have lunch at Casablanca. The staff are so welcoming and we now feel like part of the  family. The space is warm and comforting decorated in warm colours and middle eastern decor.I am not a great fan of Cafes in Shopping Centres but this is the best!!. The food is again Middle Eastern. I often have Anatolian Bridal soup which is delicious especially in winter. It is full of lentils and some tomato with a spicy taste. I am a little confused as to why Anatolian Brides would eat this soup as the lentils can make you quite gassy..not the best look for a wedding night!!  However I always enjoy it and feel replete without feeling overfull. It comes with delicious Turkish bread. My wife usually has a gluten free eggs benedict with spinach. Instead of bread she has delicious fried potatoes. I have Vienna coffee which is always excellent and my wife has Morrocan mint green tea which can really help with the digestion. Today I tried Turkish mince instead of my usual bridle soup and it was delicious.

Yum.  Keep going back. Never had a bad meal.  Service is fast, food tasty and parking is easy. Will go again, and probably again. Just the sort of place for a meal before the movies.

Visited Casablanca in Sylvia park today! Restaurant in the mall, no trouble finding car parks! ^•^ ordering lamb shank in a Mediterranean restaurant will always be the right thing to do ! So I ordered the Moroccan lamb Tagine (who doesn't like slow cook lamb shank & couscous & yogurt & veges ?) Yum a! As good as the one in Orewa. My friends ordered Greek meatballs, they said it was good! Then it s good! Desserts were very amazing. Check the pictures! By the way, the staff were so friendly and nice. Goodnight !

Throughly enjoyed our lunch here. We recieved prompt and friendly service. Our waitress knowledgably answered our questions about the menu, something that helped us choose from the delicious menu.

We were lucky enough to of chosen to have lunch at Casablanca our meals started with fries my partner had Iskandar which was very nice but my Scotch skewers accompanied with small delicious roasted veges (salad) and soft mashed potato was so good so flavoursome and extremely filling.  We would of had dessert but could not manage another bit of food.  <br/><br/>The staff were very attentive we simply concentrated on eating and drinking as well as enjoying our company and the atmosphere.<br/><br/>We are looking forward to returning.  I would happily suggest Casablanca to friends and family.

I loved it here! Clean, fresh food, reasonable pricing. Service was good. I would go there again! It's location is easy to find, the theme inside makes you feel like you've traveled somewhere exotic for lunch lol. I love it! You will too!

The girls from work come here for lunch once every 1-2 months.  Each time we organise a lunch, we think about trying somewhere new, but we always end up voting to come back to Casablanca!<br/>They didn't used to do table service and that was a real downside.  Also, a financial loss to the restaurant as I'll happily order a second drink when asked at the table, but to have to queue up and pay again for one, then I can't be bothered.  So a BIG thumbs up for introducing table service!<br/>The food is great and offers many choices, particularly since our group has a couple of vegetarians and someone who needs a gluten free diet - another reason we keep coming back as the choices available meets everyone's needs and offers variety.<br/>Collectively, we favour the Fattoush (either vegetarian or chicken), the Anatolian Bride's Soup, the Cherkez Chicken, and the Lunch Plates.<br/>The ambience is very relaxing, and it is great to have a choice of indoor or outdoor dining.  Another plus is the huge amount of car parking available given Casablanca is located in Sylvia Park, as there's nothing more frustrating having to drive around looking for a park - no issues with that at Casablanca.
Sammy Hill
Mum suggested a brunch catch up at Sylvia Park, and to be honest a really good brunchy place didn't come to mind, so when she suggest Casablanca for a breakfast meal I was intrigued as I thought of them only as a place for Turkish lunch or dinner.  I was pleasantly surprised by the brunch menu, classics like eggs benne and house made granola appeared, but it was the Turkish fare that was exciting; Moorish eggs, house made baked beans and meat balls, and their big breakfast featured mushrooms, olives, feta, eggs, and tomatoes with pide - very yummy!  The staff were friendly, and although it probably took a little longer than I would have liked for coffee and food, it was probably my own fault for arriving hungry!  Will definitely be back with the Mr. Nice to know you can get a decent brunch and coffee at the mall.

Was very excited to come here for a meal only sadly to be let down. When we arrived and sat down it took over 15 minutes before a waiter had come over to take our drink orders. If it had of been busy we would have understood the delay however there were roughly 10 customers in the restaurant and the staff seemed more interested in talking to each other. About 5 minutes after we had ordered our entrée's and mains another waitress came over and asked us if we were wanting dessert or coffee before we had even started eating. Rather then to relax and enjoy  our meal we were made to feel rushed before our meals had even come out. The entrée's were a nice start however the mains came out cold and were not enjoyable. After we had finished with our mains we were told we had 5 minutes before they closed and was made to feel even more rushed to finish our drinks. We left feeling terribly disappointed and hungry as none of us could finish our cold meals as well as shocked with the poor level of customer service. Eating out is a treat and it should be a good experience, unfortunately we felt ripped off and a burden on the staff for choosing to dine here. If the staff had a better attitude towards customers we would have rated higher but thats the main let down.

Went there with two other friends and we enjoyed the atmosphere the place had. I would have liked to give this place a 5 for the atmosphere and serving but we went when it was quite busy so the food came out late (as expected) but maybe just a tad too late... Like a 30-40 minute wait for our mains after we finished our starter. The staff are very friendly, food is served very nicely but it just felt like they added a whole bag of salt into both our main meals (we had citron chicken tagine and greek meatballs), even the greek salad we had was so salty to the point where we had to ask for another 2 jugs of water. I will have to go again to reconfirm if the chef is just in love with salt seasoning but this first experience makes me doubt it, and there is a reason why there is salt and pepper on the customer's table.
Woollen03
One of the very few Mediterranean restaurant in the town. Has quite a good range of options in the menu. Staff are friendly. Food is tasty and more importantly it's Mediterranean ambience. Serving size is slightly less. You won't fill your stomach if u r hungry.
Mary
Went there today. They weren't busy but it took 20 minutes, and several requests, to be given a glass of water. The service was incredibly slow and there was no reason for this. I would hesitate to visit again.
Sukriti Bhatnagar
Recently visited after hearing great reviews. The portions are large and flavourful! We ordered the labneh and calamari as entrées and were not disappointed. Although next time I would choose the mezze platter instead of labneh because of the variety. The spanikopita is amazing for vegetarians and very filling!<br/>Whilst the meat eaters had Jordan hummus with lamb and Citron chicken. Both dishes were delicious and flavourful.<br/>The staff here are also very attentive and friendly would definitely come back sooner if they did cocktails menu. If you're ordering the mojito beware it comes with a lot of mint.
The Food Scribbler
Great food - terrible service.<br/><br/>We came here on Sunday 7th Dec for lunch as the food is consistently good.  We had the eggs benedict, lamb lunch plate and a kids plate all of which was excellent.  The service on the other hand was terrible.  We were served by a very slim grumpy girl who should not be in customer service.  We had to ask to order, ask for drinks, ask for water.  She looked miserable which matched her service.  Come on Casablanca sort it out.
Verity Todd
Casablanca is a great place to come if you want something several cuts above the food court - restaurant dining with convenience. The food here is delicious, but it is expensive; perhaps improved plating (fancier dishes and presentation) would make the price less of an issue. We experienced fabulous service, with crayons for the kids to draw with and quick delivery of meals. The service definitely made our experience here great.

When in need for a decent meal at Sylvia Park before a full day of shopping, I find myself always coming to Casablanca. <br/><br/>Last weekend, my friend and I enjoyed a scrumptious lunch before an afternoon of shopping for new clothes to update our Spring wardrobe. My scrambled eggs with bacon and Turkish bread was just want I needed to start my shopping spree. Light and fluffy eggs combined with crispy bacon, it was a good meal. My friend had the Moorish Eggs which are baked eggs with meatballs in a tomato sauce.<br/><br/>I’ve eaten here several times and the coffee can be a hit or miss. I usually only come for brunch and lunch so I can’t comment on their dinner menu. <br/><br/>Because the restaurant is part of the Sylvia Park shopping centre, you can often find screaming kids inside the restaurant. Great for parents who want a break from the day of shopping, but not so great for the staff who tries to carry around hot plates of food. But it’ nice to find more places that are kid friendly.

Had the Morrocan Lamb. Was delicious :)

Visiting Casablanca is like wrapping yourself in a warm, cosy blanket and I'm pretty sure that's why we keep coming back. The decor has a very strong nod towards Moroccan design with beautiful lamps and kilim-style rugs on the floor; an abundance of cushions add that little luxe feeling as well as assisting with flow between indoor and outdoor areas. Despite not having a large floor space, multiple levels and table types utilize the room effectively and the place does not feel overly crowded.<br/><br/>On this particular night, a group of us girls met at the dining lane at Sylvia Park. Not knowing until the last minute what time we'd be able to get there and exactly how many of us would be able to make it, we decided to just try our luck. Casablanca did not have an indoor table when we first arrived but offered to provide us with drinks at a table by one of their outdoor heaters and move us inside as soon as a table was available. We were very impressed that the staff worked together and we were offered a table indoors before our drinks even arrived.<br/><br/>Service is prompt and friendly and the menu is broad, serving a wide range of mediterranean cuisine. This makes it ideal for eating with larger groups as it is highly likely that each person will find something to suit their tastes. My particular favorite is the Cherkez chicken, available in both Meze (small plate) and main size on their dinner menu. The house Limonata is perfection on a balmy summer day and this visit was definitely enhanced by sampling their coffee and fig mousse - served with a delicious berry couii to take the edge off the sweetness.<br/><br/>This restaurant is family-friendly, with a kids menu and coloring pages available on request. As we've discovered in the past, they're also not adverse to wee ones crawling on the floor - a definite bonus for the toddler set. While we love exploring new restaurants, Casablanca will always be a favorite when we want a comfortable meal out.

Have never had anything on the Menu that I have not ended up loving, a favorite on the brunch/lunch menu is the Kumru Burger.  The prices are great, they have a great indoor outdoor flow.  Also have sheltered outdoor seating which I love. <br/><br/>The staff are always friendly and accommodating.<br/><br/>Never had a bad visit.  Always clean and tidy,<br/><br/>Wish they would add the Kumru Burger to the dinner menu (its the BEST)
Rice & Kai
I've been to Casablanca a number of times now as it is one of the better places to eat in Sylvia Park (although not one of the cheaper ones).  The menu is extensive and a little bit overwhelming, but I've enjoyed most of the dishes I've had here.<br/>One of my favourite meals to get is their lunch plates with lovely, soft grilled flatbread and creamy hummus.  Both the chicken and lamb are good; the meat is juicy and tender.  The tabouleh is a little bit inconsistent - I've had it both finely and roughly chopped here - sometimes so rough that there are huge pieces of curly leaf parsley which isn't so pleasant to eat (weird mouth feel in my opinion!).<br/>The service has always been friendly here.  I haven't had a chance to try their desserts yet, but hope to one day.  This is a place we will definitely eat at again.
Yum
Dined here three times in the last two months. Service is good, however, they may want to consider sticking to ONE Waitress per table when confirming orders instead of three different Waitresses tending to it so as not to confuse the diners and their orders. Also, clear and concise communication is helpful for both the Customer and the Staff. Price is a bit on the expensive side, not TOO bad, I would recommend the Lunch Plate selection if you've never been there before as a first impression of the place. The desserts are amazing, my first visit there I ordered ALL the desserts on the menu so I could try them. This is a good place to bring friends and family once every while. Im sure there are other little Turkish/Moroccan/Middle Eastern gems out there in Auckland waiting to be discovered but this place is pretty good.
Robyn Theo
We had lunch here today, it was very busy and we had a bit of a slow start getting our orders taken but the staff were pleasant, water and drinks arrived promptly as did the food. The servings were generous and the food was tasty. We will be back.

Going to Casablanca with a few work friends and my husband (whom is moroccan) we tried Casablanca on a whim they had a tagine meal we really wanted to try and seemed to have good reviews. We were all highly dissapointed with the level of staff quality, they seems like headless chickens to say the least. Me and my husband ordered lamb tagine, expecting it to be cooked in the tagine as tradition tells. We ended up with some food obviously cooked in a pot with instant couscous...it was not at all authentic...and when we asked for a moroccan mint tea we got a lipton in hot water. Really disgusted to be completely honest....i know food isnt as good as what you would have back in the country but the moroccan sahara takeaway in west auckland was far more authentic and better tasting then this place. Would not dine hear again and would not call this moroccan cuisine good at all.
Natalie Pasco
Love this place. Usually we go there for dinner but decided to go for lunch. We both had wraps. Food was very tasty and presented well, fast service, two very pleased customers. Keep up the great work - we will be returning shortly!
Barbara Eadie
The restaurant was great - the food was delicious but the staff were not that attentive or friendly. We did have to wait quite a long time for the mains but then there were 11 of us. I would certainly go back and so would the other people in the party. If the staff had been more friendly I would have marked this as excellent instead of very good.
Samantha
The ambience is good but the food is tasteless. The bread was hard and we were totally disappointed with all the 3 dishes that we ordered. The service is okay. Below average experience and was not at all worth the $80+.<br/><br/>Update<br/>The GM contacted me immediately and apologised for the errors in service and food. He has invited us to visit the cafe again and mailed a voucher to be redeemed. This shows that Casablanca cares about the customer!! Thank you again Janak.
Noeline
We had an excellent meal, it was so very tasty and great quality food. The dessert was to die for, not die from . It was so yummy I could have eaten it alone. We had the chocolate and fig mousse and as I say it was just great. I am sad that I only get one Birthday a year. <br/>The service was wonderful, the staff are friendly and the orders came quickly. That was great because we were hungry and did not want a long wait. <br/>We would certainly visit again.
Brittany Parsons
I had the meze platter and overall was happy. The flavour of the food was what I had expected and the temperature of the falafel was warm and the salads and dips, cool. The bread was hot however there were "puddles" of oil sitting on it! This was the only let down for me and I only had a small portion of bread for this reason.<br/><br/>I found the presentation to be colourful and inviting. At first glance it was something we both just wanted to dive into (and we did!).<br/><br/>There were two of us eating and we shared this for lunch. In terms of value for money, I think I got what I paid for. We could not finish it all and probably could have had a third person along to have this as a snack.<br/><br/>Service was very good. We walked in and despite the restaurant being somewhat busy, we were approached and taken to a table after no longer than a minute. Menus and water were given to us and after ordering, the food arrived within 10 minutes. The only thing I would change about the menu is the blackboard. Walking in and seeing all the writing is quite overwhelming. I don't think it's necessary to list each and every single thing on the board if people are given handheld menus to look at. Just my opinion, though.<br/><br/>I would come back again and recommend people visit but with a warning that prices will add up if several are eating.
Paula M
The food and great atmosphere make this a Friday favourite. I had a good appetite last night and Casablanca didn't disappoint. Tasty meatballs with carrot and beetroot, and fluffy pear and ginger cheesecake. Topped off with friendly attentive service. I'll be back.
Ingrid Vinkenvleugel
Had a lovely dinner last night - the Kasbah fish was really tasty and the service was amazing. Lots of checks to see if I needed anything and easy to catch a waiter/ress' eye. My friend had an excellent meal as well and the cheesecake was melt in your mouth. I really like the relaxed atmosphere too - it was busy but in a good way.
Becky Corcoran
Most amazing menu. Highly recommend this restaurant. Great service and very friendly staff. Didn't wait long. And meals were presented nicely.
Liz Winstone
Just finished having the best mezze platter I've had for years! Gorgeous dolma was melt in my mouth; bread was fresh from the oven warm - light and heavenly. So much on the platter I couldn't quite finish it. Tabbouleh and hummus and taramasalata and tzatziki. Plus delisho green bean salad was a standout and unique part of the dish.<br/><br/>Waitress was helpful, and efficient - only improvement would be to improve menu knowledge - there was just one ingredient in a salad she wasn't sure of. But no biggie, she made a great recommendation on the lovely variety of the mezze platter.<br/><br/>Nice atmosphere, with Turkish style music. Quite busy on a weekday lunchtime, but still lots of tables to choose from.<br/><br/>Final point would be to make sure you check there's enough loo paper (none in the one I visited)!<br/><br/>In summary, a delicious food experience in a comfy groovy middle-eastern ethnic style space.

Been here a couple of times, the first occasion poor service. We decided to give them another chance but this last time was especially bad.<br/>1) Nobody came to take our order, waited around but then had to get their attention. They weren't even busy.<br/>2) When they took our order we waited for a long time. Then finally they came again and ask if we had been served. Turns out they didn't take our order the first time. So we had to give it again. All the while others were being served fine.<br/>3) When our order came it was wrong, missing some plates.<br/>Food was good, but we definitely won't go through the misery of that that kind of service again.
Rebecca Nutland
The food was great, I loved my chicken on rice and my mum loved her bread, hummus and Chicken. It was the greatest tea I've ever had, the chicken had some spice to it so young children won't like it if they do not like spicy things. The dinner filled us up so we <br/>just had 2 pieces of Turkish delight both flavors nice, rose the best lemon and a little sour but that makes it nice<br/>5 stars to ... Casablanca Cafè
Carol
We have been a fan of Casablanca over the past few years and have always found the food to be tasty and delicious. I must admit that the portion size may have decreased a bit, but not the prices - so it probably isn't the great value for money it once was. <br/><br/>Also the staff at the Sylvia Park cafe are sometimes a little casual and dare I say it, a bit lazy (especially the men waiters). The last three times, we have waited to be offered dessert and coffee but no-one has ever come, so we just paid for our mains and left.<br/><br/>The food is beautifully cooked and usually full of flavour. We like the tagines, which are always delicious plus the fattoush and the chicken dishes which never fail to please. <br/><br/>The coffee is also lovely (if we can get some!) and the dessert options are mouthwatering! All in all a great place for lunch and dinner. We've yet to go for breccie to try the Moroccan style dishes.
Rosemary Nutsford
I booked online two weeks before our date, but I did not get a confirmation email to say the booking was taken, so I physically went into the Café to ensure our booking was confirmed. In doing that I do not know if my online booking was even acknowledged, so I recommend when someone books through this site that there is a reply confirming that their booking has been taken. Other than that, our experience was superb as usual, beautiful food, exceptional service (on a busy night)and great price. I don't know where those people who have given you bad comments were dining, but every time we have dined here the food and service have been great.
Jane
Love this place, great coffee, great food and great atmosphere. <br/>Huge menu, great meeting place for weekend lunches. Would definitely recommend Casablanca. Staff are helpful and always welcoming.

The reason I suspect that a lot of people eat at McDonalds is consistency. Sure McDs is 2 out 10 dining, but it's always 2 out of 10 anywhere in the world.<br/>I have been visiting Casablanca for years. It's always been good, until recently.<br/>I suspect a change of ownership or management. <br/>Portions have reduced in size, quality has reduced, and service has become very slow. Please don't get me started about the cleanliness of the water glasses, they were filthy. <br/>It's something I have noticed over my last two visits but the latest visit points to there being something quite rotten happening here. The item as represented on the menu and the meal on the plate were two ( almost ) completely different things. And that's a great shame because I have had some many delicious meals here with family and friends over the years. <br/>My rating of one star reflects my dismay as much as anything over what has happened to a restaurant that I have enjoyed so much over the years. I hope the operators read this and improve themselves ( because I want to come back ) and not just write some garbage 5 star review in rebuttal just to keep their ratings up!
DuckieLovesToEat
I went here today with 2 of my girlfriends. Entering the place was not as welcoming as I expected. The waiter told us to pick a table we want and just handed me the menu while we go to the table we picked instead of waiting for us to be seated and giving us the menu then. The waiter has taken our order in a timely manner BUT our order took 30-35mins to come out! In addition to that, they didn't serve us any water for the table but noted that they did so with other customers. The food was good but take note we were starving already! Definitely not going back here due to awful service!
Eli Wesele
The atmosphere was relaxed, laid back and welcoming. Tables, booths, indoor and outdoor dining areas made the place inviting. The staff were on call instantly and the waitress provided me with recommendations that were spot on. <br/><br/>Without being intrusive, the waiting staff continued to provide us with great service prompting us to remain longer and order desert and coffee. Great place to catch up with a friend, chatting and eating for hours. Highly recommend! xx

Hubby and I had dinner here few weeks back. He's not into Moroccan food, but he enjoyed it so much, that we're going back this weekend. <br/><br/>Totally love this place. The atmosphere's great - love the Moroccan settings, soft romantic vipes all around. Service was great no one intruding you every 5mins, and the food was amazing. It is to die for. Must try their Moroccan Meatballs, Moroccan Lamb Tagine. <br/><br/>I've recommended this place to a few of my friends and families. Majority of them have been and they love it.
Brigit Bowron
We love the atmosphere and food at Casablanca and dined there Saturday night. The dips were lovely - hummous and taramasalata and enormous portions. I ordered the scotch fillet kebabs for my main and the kebabs themselves were lovely, however the salad underneath was disappointing, the tomatoes were fleshy and tasteless and the accompanying eggplant and potato mash was stodgy. We will go back another time as we normally love this place and hope that Saturday night was just a glitch.
James Flood
Had the mushrooms on toast with bacon.<br/>Damn good.
Rachael
We love Casablanca. The food is always good and the coffee sublime. I think the lamb dishes are my favourites. Makes me hungry just thinking about it.<br/>Great atmosphere and excellent staff. It's our favourite cafe.

First visit for coffee with friends after movie. Had a very inviting and cozy atmosphere. I loved their baklava and mochaccino! I might try their main dishes next time.

A work trip brought us to the area, so first time at Casablanca. Nice tasty food, not too long to wait even though they were busy, reasonably priced, great coffee to follow, will be back for lunch on the next trip from Oz.

We really enjoyed the atmosphere, service and the food was really quite amazing! The flavours were superb, very authentic the serving size good and prices very reasonable. Will definitely return for some more Moroccan and Middle Eastern cuisine.

Had Lunch there. Loved the flavours. One of the best meals I have had in a long time :) Only reason I haven’t rated excellent is because of the service. It would have been nice if the waitress was more attentive and filled my water glass when I finished it.

Casablanca has become a favourite of mine and Dads over many a meal... Being half-Greek and total 'foodies' we have quite high standards, and are always so happy to visit Casablanca because we know it will be good... <br/><br/>The mezze is a great starter, the spanakopita rivals my grandmothers!! For brunch, I LOVE their Moorish Eggs, and the Izmir Eggs... For lunch, I cant go past the Lunch plate with meatballs or chicken, or the Lamb Fattoush... Dinner is just the best though, and I can happily say everything is fresh, full of flavour and mouthwateringly delicious... <br/><br/>The staff are friendly, the wine selection is excellent, and ending the meal with a Turkish coffee and piece of Baklava or slice of Chocolate Caramel Cake? Nothing better!!!

We have been regular diners over many years at Casablanca and have found the food to be of a consistently high standard and beautifully presented.<br/><br/>Casablanca has a special ambiance with a charming and thoughtful host. We have recommended Casablanca to many friends who have enjoyed the same dining experience. <br/><br/>It is one of our favourite cafe/restaurants in Auckland.

My daughter and I are regulars at Casablanca Cafe. The coffee is the best in the city, the food is always fresh, tasty and the right portion size. The staff have always been friendly and welcoming. The manager always professional and willing to do his share of the floor work when the cafe is busy. We enjoy the ambiance and the music is so atmospheric. The kitchen always looks clean as do the floors and the tables. Thankfully our friends feel the same so we have our dinner catch ups there. The weekends are not the same if a coffee break has been missed. Shopping trips are more of a pleasure as I know I can grab a healthy lunch and listen to some Middle Eastern music which I have to say transports me back to my travels in these far away and wonderful places . Well done Casablanca you score a ten from us. Carry on with the great jobs you are all doing so very well and a big thank you.

Excellent value, remarkable restaurant. I've become quite a regular, visiting almost every week. Their meat dishes are one of the best in the Auckland area, if not the very best. The staff is very friendly and the ambiance is also very nice. A must try if you are in Auckland area.

A must visit cafe/restaurant in Auckland! I am a frequent visitor to this awesome place. I have eaten everything on the menu. My favourites are the: Fattoush, the meze platter, the chicken tagine and the moorish eggs ... they're amaze balls! The staff are very kind, decor is amazing. Try it and you will be sure to return over and over again!!!

Really impressed. As we walked past the manager invited us in and found a table when the place was packed. Very tasty food, friendly efficient staff. Only one compliant..the lemonata drink tasted like cordial we had as kids. When advertised as home made lemonade I was expecting home made lemonade.<br/>I have read a lot of reviews of this place that aren't too good.<br/>They must have listened, there was not a spare seat when we were there and had a great dining experience.

My Mum and I love coming here when we meet for lunch once a month…delicious food, great quick service, a great place to relax with a glass of wine, the decor is awesome…I recommend the Chicken Paninis they are yummy and also the wraps!!

Very disappointed with this restaurant - paid $27 for a main meal that only consisted of lamb chunks, some tomato slices, yoghurt with bread hiding underneath to give it a fuller appearance. Also a chicken dish ordered failed to impress - approx. $6 worth of ingredients - charged $21. Expressed disappointment to management and no offer to re-compense in any way. Will not be going back.

Like the decor there, but the food was definitely overpriced and service was just average. Paid $25.5 for the lamb Tagine but the portion was seriously tiny.
Kelly Wu
The food was of average. The service was good. The location isn't particularly good and atmospheric.

I have had better meals there before. The Lemonata? looked and tasted brought, not a fresh taste at all. The meal was quite small and the baklava was even smaller. Probably wont go back for a while

Been here quite a few times now. First visit was on a recommendation from a friend. I've worked through most of the menu and the food has always been good. Particular favourites are the cherkez chicken and the lamb shanks. All the dishes have a lot of variety and are well seasoned. Price is pretty good, and the decor is pretty cool. Would recommend.

What can I say,great food,great staff,enjoy it every time

Went for lunch today with a friend. After browsing through restaurants, casablanca looked welcoming and cosy. Menu boards are confusing as way too much to say but finally settled down with the kofta balls on a broad bean salad with a hummus yogurt drizzle.<br/>Didn't wait too long. Taste was lovely and fresh. Hint of mint and parsley with the broad beans. <br/>Had to take my leftovers up to the counter although I had been sitting some time with a half empty plate and thought they would have asked how it was. Took it up to the counter and asked for it to be boxed up! Had to wait about 5 minutes while they served other customers.<br/>All in all, food is lovely! Can't wait to go back and try something different. Service could be friendly but in all, you can't have everything!

Stopped in at Casablanca on sunday morning for brunch with friends and we chose between us to have the izmir eggs, moorish eggs, creamy mushrooms and a calamari meze plate. <br/><br/> Absolutely divine and delicious. The potatos in the izmir eggs were roasted to perfection, crispy outside fluffy and soft on the inside the whole dish screamed flavour. The coriander in the moorish eggs was abundant and the eggs were baked very nicely (runny yolks and fully cooked white)<br/>The creamy mushrooms were slightly rich and extremely delicious with crunchy grain bread to mop up the sauce, and the calamari was to die for, slightly spicy, seasoned and cooked perfectly, it really was melt in your mouth stuff.<br/><br/>If I had to make any complaints it would only be about the service. A little slow and one of the young ladies seemed to be texting before turning to acknowledge us. Staff also seemed to be a little clueless as to what some of the menu items consisted of. The Chef was more than willing to answer any questions I/we had when we approached him even though he was clearly busy. <br/><br/>Overall service 3 food 5.

Have been to Casablanca on four occasions - food is great but each time the meals seem to get smaller. We had the iskender kebab which was lovely but just not enough to fill....a portion of rice would certainly help. Disappointing to leave still hungry.

Great food, LOVE the service and affordable prices, I'm a regular and so are my parents! just reminds us of home! :)<br/><br/>Love the seating arrangements, always race for the seating booths! As well as having a great selection of fresh cooked food!

Love this cafe and come here weekly. Great food, great atmosphere. Would definitely recommend if you like Mediterranean food. Always busy, and a nice place to catch up with friends. Big menu.

The worst meal out this year for any of the places I've been too, $165.00 for three with drinks, food was $95.50, should have picked up some wine, beers from pak n save and a burger from burger fuel, wouldn't recommend to my friends

Casablanca is my favourite local cafe, for brunch, dinner, or even just a drink and a snack. This cafe offers a wide variety of Delicious meal options, with an excellent vegetarian selection, at very reasonable prices. The wine list is great, staff are fantastic, friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere is just wonderful! Casablanca's surroundings make you feel as if you have been transported to an exotic eastern location. This cafe works on the basis that the customers order from the bar, true cafe style, as opposed to restaurant style table service. I highly recommend Casablanca, to anyone wanting to experience delicious food with a difference, in a relaxed and friendly environment.

We've been to Casablanca many times (well over ten times) and we love the atmosphere and the food. We live way out on the North Shore, but make the trip to Mt.Wellington because the food is so tasty and so reasonable. <br/><br/>I particularly like the mezze platter and the calamari. The lamb shanks and the apricot chicken tagine are pretty mouth-watering too. <br/><br/>The place is always very busy, which speaks for its popularity, and hence like any busy restaurant, there is going to be a short wait. But on average we've never had to wait too long and we've found the service to be well above average. I read some of the other reviews about the table-service, and while I enjoy table-service, I think it's fine to use this system as well. It does speed up the service rather than waiting for a waiter to show up to your table. I've sat in fancy restaurants and waited a long time before I've been able to order. This system makes sure your order gets rolling the moment you're ready.<br/><br/>As I said, we've been to Casablanca many times over and if we weren't happy with the food, service and system, we wouldn't have gone back so many times. The fact that we keep going back tells you that it's a place well visiting many times over.

If you're just going for the food, this is an excellent choice. The food is amazing and reasonably priced.<br/><br/>However they rate very low on my meter for service (I believe its the owner, decided to argue with us and tell us off for not reserving for the correct number of patrons, even after we apologised for the confusion). Though the other staff do try to make up for his out right rudeness. Oh he's like that with all PAYING customers.
Celeste Bowden
We dined at Casablanca last week for the first time.<br/><br/>We all enjoyed our flavoursome meals, but the service could be improved. <br/><br/>I also think the restaurant would definitely benefit from table service, rather than having to all leave the table, take your menus up to the counter, ask questions (which you are always going to have with this type of cuisine), then finally order and pay. Also, when you want another round of drinks, you have to do the same. <br/><br/>You can view more details on what we ate, including photos of our meals, at http://celestereviews.wordpress.com/2011/06/15/casablanca-cafe/

We had lunch, ordering the Meze platter, and pomme frites. The platter was absolutely delicious with the selection of dips, fresh pide, falafels and salads. Very generous serving, more than enough for two people to share. I would highly recommend this. My son loved the fries, they came with a generous dollop of garlic aioli and salsa. We will definitely visit Casablanca again.

I went to Casablanca for a quick takeaway coffee about a week back, and put the fact that I had to wait half an hour for it in a near-empty restaurant down to bad luck. Seems I was wrong. I went back with a group last night, and it took over an hour for our mains to arrive. This was brushed off with the explanation that they were "all coming out at the same time". Except they didn't, and we had to ask again for the last person's meal. It got a lot worse when it came to dessert. We all ordered and paid, then waited another 20 minutes. As preparation of the desserts amounted to putting a piece of cake on a plate, it didn't seem like a trying task. And other desserts, ordered later than ours, kept coming out. So back to the desk we went, and it transpired that the orders had not even been submitted! To add insult to injury, rather than come to help, the staff member who took our orders sat out the back eating her own dinner. We gave up at that point, and asked for a refund, which was given without argument (thank god). As for the food - nice enough, if rather overpriced. But certainly not good enough to put up with that kind of service.<br/><br/>Edit: I finally returned to Casablanca and was impressed by the improvement (I initially gave them one star). Service was great and quick and the food lovely. I might come back after all.

I was part of a group of 14, and despite booking in advance, had to wait 30 mins before drinks came and another hour and 15 mins until any food arrived. The salads ironically were the last to be served and came on hot plates - yuk! <br/><br/>We had allowed 2 hours to eat before our movie at Hoyts but ended up having to wolf down our food to make it in time.<br/><br/>Most of the group complained about the smallportions and bland flavour. My fish and chips was overpriced and unappetising but I didn't have enough time to complain.<br/><br/>I will never eat here again. A real waste of time and money.

over priced for quantity and quality of food.<br/>my dish was semi cold and warm...think they may have reheated in the microwave??and not heated thru enough??also very salty..salads on the dish was not fresh either. <br/>Would not return and also do not recommend to others.<br/>Atmospher was ok.<br/>Service was poor.<br/>and...the girl who was taking order at the bar hit on my husband!! Shocking!!

Did not like the food, small tables no place to keep the plates properly when seated outside.....not worth it.

I had the Black Sea Chicken and a selection of dips with Turkish bread amongst a group of 5 for lunch. The portions were just right for a lunch, with plenty to go round. The downside was the toilets had paper on the floor. That aside, plenty of variety and reasonable charge. Looking forward to next visit.

My friend and I recently discovered Casablanca at Sylvia Park, while looking for somewhere to enjoy a casual dinner. <br/> <br/>We had the Spanakopita and the Black Sea Chicken, as mains. The Spanakopita was quite good, but lacked a little flavour. However the Black Sea Chicken was divine! The pilaf was especially good. Both meals were very large servings, which worked well to share. In retrospect, we would probably have been better to order one main of the Chicken, and a side salad. That would have left more room for the date strudel we ordered for dessert. This was very rich, and too much for one person to tackle - a dessert designed to be shared.<br/><br/>Great menu choices, reasonably priced, fantastic atmosphere, good service. We will certainly be coming back.

Very good restaurant, their Lamb tagine with cous cous is just superb! Their Iraq date desert in phyllo pastry is so yummy!

The food is absolutely gorgeous, we had brunch there. Great atmosphere and friendly staff.

We have always had good food here, if you need a coffee or Moroccan tea then this is the place to go. The mains are good too, a glass of wine and nice surroundings makes a good evening when on a budget.Service is good, and the turkish delight is yummy!
